Snapper Carr. this was gonna be a post on how he seems cool but then I looked at his Wikipedia character bio and.....

This is what it says and I'm just reiterating it so if it's wrong its on Wikipedia

Becomes an honorary member of the JLA during his senior year of high school, did monitor duty and jack of all trades stuff. a guy named John Dough convinces him to betray the JL, John Dough ends up being the Joker. Leaves the JL. Family and him get kidnapped. Brain washed. Becomes a villain because after he left the JL no college would accept him and no one would higher him. Didn't go to jail and got a job at STAR labs because Superman. kidnapped (along with other humans) and taken to the Dominator homeworld, where they are forced to run a gauntlet of horrific deadly traps and experiments. Revealed he has the metagene (teleports when he snaps). went to alien insane asylum because he kept his eyes open during a teleport and saw the eternity of time passing (temporarily driven insane), escaped. accidentally imprisoned. then captured and tortured, during torture his hands were cut off so he couldn't teleport but later got hands again but now can't teleport. He got married and divorced. Turned into a Android by amazo. Almost driven insane AGAIN! kidnapped by demons and tortured for several days. suffered from severe depression. Thrown back in time in a loop where he was forced to relive the loss of his hands over and over again. Then left on an astroid for a bit. And after that Red Tornado was like 'hey I know a guy who could help Young Justice' and put him there.

It's doesn't end there but I think I'll have to read some of these comics because WTF! the JLA should give him therapy and a break. Is he ok?

And he was in the YJ TV show hes a teacher, adopted Harper and Cullen and officiated Conner and Megan's (🤢 sorry I just hate them) wedding.

I understand him even MORE in hourman now. I wonder why he came back around on the nickname.

Hourman is probably his best appearance but all his post-joker appearance all have at least something going for him. Did you know he worked at STAR labs? He worked with Kara's dads. he also tried helping superman (& supergirl) with the robots (pollution caused them to malfunction). Didn't work because Lesla-Lar was being an energy being and possessed it though (not that anyone knows it was Lesla)

Anyways if I had to use one word to describe Snapper it'd probably be:

I actually WAS talking about the EU in that case, though. More specifically Star Wars Galaxies, basically the prototype MMORPG to The Old Republic. There were three factions to choose from: The Rebels, the Empire, and basically third parties that are composed of criminals. I think the FantasyFlightGames bit had something similar as well with some of their card games.

I myself had a few problems with the whole "Nazi" allusions to the Empire lately (mostly because the whole "denounce anyone to the right of Marx as fascist" that Lucas clearly adhered to, so that unfortunately won't work, especially not after Supergirl had Snapper Carr's infamous talk down to Kara Danvers when firing her for starting a blog as somehow betraying being a good reporter where he actually said "fascist in the white house" regarding a possible outcome in a clear allusion to Trump). I bought into it when I was younger, but after it became apparent they were also using Nazi in a very crass manner to essentially mean anyone to the right of Marx, I'm a bit standoffish regarding Nazi comparisons (especially when they conveniently ignore similar dictatorships such as Cuba, or North Vietnam or even the USSR to a lesser extent, and not just under Stalin, but even under Lenin, oh and also Robespierre's France.). Besides, technically, the Rebels themselves had Nazi inspirations as well (the ending of A New Hope had a blatant shot-by-shot basis from Triumph of the Will, with Leia essentially being in Hitler's position), which only muddies the waters further. I also never really agreed with the idea that the Stormtroopers were modeled/named after the Nazis (That was more of an Imperial German term, and their overall role fit more Imperial Germany rather than Nazi Germany, especially when the SA were more like overglorified bouncers/street brawlers than actual soldiers, much less SpecOps). Plus, the Imperial uniforms were more modeled after Prussian military officers anyways, also during World War I, so it really didn't sell the Nazi image at all. In any case, if I were to envision it as the Nazis and the Vietcong, I'd refuse to side with either group. We know from the 1973 draft that Lucas did indeed model the Rebels after the VC and NVA, while the Empire was "America 10 years from now"

I wish it were that simple, but unfortunately, they're the creator, I'm not. As I said, Peace Walker, heck, Kojima's own grand game plan for Metal Gear Solid 2 made it very clear that his own views are the only things that truly mattered, not our views. And that's not even counting George Lucas's completely arbitrary treatment of the EU at best even before the Disney sale. If anything, if I were to go by "Death of the Author", I'd have to do it in the most literal sense just to ensure my interpretation has any way of mattering at all (and that scares me ultimately. Think what Scar did with Mufasa for what I'm getting at.). Put another way, regardless of whether I agree with the author, I see authorship as a top-down approach that I'm obligated to see through their lenses, never my own regardless of whether mine is of better quality than theirs, not unless I sack them and take over.
