im rewatching the ice golem episode since I only watched it on the big screen last time and I wasn't able to pause and comment and I just want to mention what a pure pleasure it is to watch izutzumi fly through the air like that in her fight scene. it's the same reason I really love pitou's fight scenes - they're just so fluid and beautiful and fast. at once point izutsumi folds her arms and does a backflip to get up on the ice golem and she looks just like a professional diver. wow!!

How To: Boost Your Metabolism :D
(as someone who lost 25 lbs in 2.5 months)
1. B6 & B12 boosts metabolism (you can take B6 without food, but B12 absorbs better with food) - These vitamins give you more energy and improve nerve health :D
2. Coffee/Energy Drinks/Caffeine Pills (duh) - Anything with caffeine will keep you alert, focused, and lose those pounds! Be aware of those high sugar/cal monsters or those fatty coffee drinks.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar - I find it helps with burning food/ making me less hungry. You can get these in pill form or dilute it
4. Warm lemon water/Teas - Very low cals, better water intake, debloats you. Again be careful of the sugar contents
5. Exercise like pilates, running/walking, weights, yoga, etc. - Easy way to gain muscle/lose fat- Basically resistance training
7. Fasting - Boosts your metabolism and overall health
8. Proteins!! Protein + gaining muscle will increase metabolism. As you st⭐️rve, still keep eating those proteins!!
9. Sleep!! Getting less than 6 hours of sleep will decrease your metabolism
Let me know if I should add anything :)

Two jaquinzi stallions duking it out over territory.
The jaquinzi is a wild equid in the clade broadly referred to as 'horses', though they are not closely related to the common domestic horse and cannot interbreed. They are of average size for a horse, being about 2 ft tall at the shoulder, 4 ft long, and weighing an average of 90 lbs. They are notable for their long tails and striking coat, which ranges from orange to a deep red-brown and is peppered with spots and stripes.
Jaquinzi stallions are highly territorial and routinely maintain their boundaries via dung marking. They rarely tolerate the presence of other adult males (though brothers sometimes form coalitions), and will get into aggressive, sometimes deadly fights with trespassers. Female jaquinzi and their young form hierarchical herds led by a lead mare, and move freely between territories. Stallions may develop close and longterm bonds with their mares, and herds may permanently settle within a stallion's territory so long as it contains ample resources and remains well-protected.
It is the only true wild horse endemic to the Imperial Wardi region, and has a very limited range. The vast majority are found in the far southern Pelenagal peninsula (Elumuqi to its predominantly Jazaiti inhabitants), with some scattered low density populations being found in and around the Red Hills. They are closely related to (but are geographically separated from) the Lowlands wild horse found south and east of the Blackmane mountains, a domestic variant of which is widely kept by the Yuroma people (and has been brought to Wardin by its sizable Yuroma-Wardi community).
The name 'jaquinzi' comes from the Jazaiti language. Most Jazaiti lands are on the Elumuqi peninsula, thus overlapping with most of the jaquinzi's range. The Jazait have a long history of relations with this horse. Most Jazait rely on the sea for the vast majority of their food, which is supplemented by foraging and farming. Much of their land is heavily susceptible to wildfires, which is mitigated with controlled burns. The jaquinzi horse indirectly assists with fire control by clearing away excess growth and preferentially feeds on many plants that are considered undesirable or outright noxious weeds to the Jazait.
As such, this horse has traditionally been encouraged to settle and proliferate within the territories of Jazaiti clans, and much of the peninsula jaquinzi population is semi-tame and heavily habituated to people. The relationship is largely mutualistic, as the horses receive protection from predators and are given access to otherwise unattainable high energy foods (they are actively fed harvest leftovers, seaweed, and fruits, which is the main contributor to their tameness). Jazait benefit from the horses clearing away unwanted growth, and these very tame, approachable wild animals can function as an emergency food source in times of famine.
The territoriality of the horses has partially integrated with the (substantially more complex cultural practice of) territoriality of Jazait clans. The boundaries of a clan's land are spiritually reinforced and physically marked by clanmothers on a yearly basis (via wrist scent gland), while its entrance points and boundary zones have shrines that are routinely anointed by clan members as they come and go. Jaquinzi learn to recognize the scent of their associated people, and stallions are known to align their territorial boundaries closely to the clan's boundary (as the people directly and indirectly contribute to keeping rival stallions out). A sense of home boundary and 'here and there' is fundamental to traditional Jazait identity and spiritual security, and the wild horse shares and reinforces this boundary, which elevates the animal's significance in the cultural schema.
The Jazait focus most collective cultural attention on sea life (and do not share their neighboring peoples' traditions of animal worship whatsoever), but the jaquinzi is a deeply appreciated wild beast, notable for its beauty and gentleness and association with Home.
This relationship to wild horses is, however, being increasingly replaced by keeping herds of domestic wooly horses, particularly in the past century. Domestic horses are attractive in that they provide most of the benefits of the wild ones (clearing brush, easy emergency meat) in addition to a continuous supply of textile sources and soap-making materials (though their dairy products are not consumed, as the gene for lactase persistence is highly uncommon among the Jazait). The adoption of domesticated horses has mostly occurred on the basis of individual clans (often in tandem with subsistence issues due to their fishing grounds being occupied by Imperial Wardi interests) and is not universal, but has still markedly fragmented parts of the jaquinzi's remaining range.

On my regular binge of clover because I just viscerally love him, (I wish there was a different word but really that's the best description) and was thinking about the thought someone else had on submission, but sheep and guardian dog but just I had a slightly different thought:
I have a dog, I love her to bits, but she's a very anxious pup. She's pure border collie, so she's brilliant, but she's almost debilitatingly anxious and she's a TINY border collie, only just 20 lbs. But her favourite "person" in the world is my cousin's dog, who is the biggest great piranese I've ever seen and she's a genuine farm dog so she has the "aura" of "I kill shit". They're so cute together and my pup's favourite place is under her big friend when inspecting the person at the front door or cuddled up to her napping and they just make me think of clover and Halsin.
Sorry this is rather illegible and not really a question more a statement.
Oh gosh thank you! I have little to add because this is very much an accurate picture of them and you've struck the nail on the head for Clover in ways that I hoped I was getting across. He has a great depth of knowledge and ability whose particular flavor isn't going to be replicated in libraries and the life experience through which he acquired it did enough damage to often overshadow it, especially in more low-stress situations. When he's taken out of situations where the anxiety and hyperwareness has precedent and needs to be directed everwhere at once, it still bleeds all over with nothing to act on and without his particular abilities to shine. Halsin has big dog energy and his warm personality is perfect, and something that needs to be acknowledged more is that he's massive and can be extremely unfunny as soon as something truly bothers him. He wears his heart on his sleeve.

Day 14: 245 / 500 💜
Day 15: 273 / 600 💜
Day 16: 659 / 600 💔
Total Calories Available: 12,600
Total Calorie Intake: 9,228
Now you know what's up- time to estimate how much I'm supposed to lose in theory. This is of course never 100% accurate but I want to have a good idea of how much I'm supposed to lose and trying to figure out why my results are different
My Maintenance at the Start (little to no exercise): 1,730
So over the course of this diet, I should have consumed 27,680 cals to maintain my starting weight
27,680 - 9228 = 18,452 deficit
1 kg = 7,716 Cals, so I am supposed to lose 2.39 kg / 4.4 lbs after this diet
My results:
Starting W*ight: 64.5 kg / 142.2 lbs
Ending W*ight: 63.4 kg / 139.8 lbs
Difference: 1.09 kg / 2.4 lbs
What I consumed:
Apples, Strawberries, Hot Chocolate, High Protein Mousse, Choco Muesli, Gum, Cappuccino, Dried Seaweed, Milk Tea, Rice, Peas, Carrots, Coffee Cocoa Drink, Sandwiches, Monster Drink (Bad Apple), Black Cat Energy, pizza, Herbal Tea, Honey, Ramen, Seaweed, Mushrooms, Veggie Broth, Soy Sauce, Edelmarzipan, Milk Coffee, Tangerine, Ice Cream, Apple & Banana Shake, Dürüm, Maultaschen, Americano w/lil cream, Croissant, Chocolate Soya Drink, PommDöner, Low Fat Yoghurt (w/Powdered Flavouring), Darjeeling Tea, Brown Bread, White Bread, Kräuter, Eggs, Basmati Rice, Palak Paneer, Dal Chawal, Low Fat Milk, Electrolytes, Salted Biscuit, Dates, Rice Cakes, Blueberry Jam, Lotus Biscuit, Lasagna, Coconut Protein Bar, Pav Bhaji, Cheesecake and went to an Indian Buffet with my Partner
Woah, what a variety xD
Diet Review:
I have 12 out of 16 successful days, but overall I "passed" this diet
I was feeling disappointed because even though I restricted and stuck to my plan, I only lost a kilo. Why could this be? There were days when I went over my limit and had to work it off, or is it because I ate my maintenance when my partner was around? or is it because I was dealing with pre period bloat? There are so many explanations and factors that comes into play, but as of writing this I don't feel bad about it anymore because I STILL lost weight and I know I worked hard to the best of my abilities
I'm taking a break from trying out these diets because I'm expecting my period anytime now so I'll go easy on myself but still stay under 1000. I'll start posting my WIEIAD's :3

We're going to take it slow this Wet Beast Wednesday and talk about Somniosus microcephalus, the Greenland shark. Its one of the sleeper sharks, a family named for their very slow movement and generally low-activity lifestyles. Greenland sharks follow the rule that slow and steady wins the race. With a top speed of 2.6 km/h (1.6 mph), the Greenland shark has the slowest speed of its size of all fish. They also have a slow metabolism which correlates with a very long lifespan. The lifespan of these sharks isn't known for sure, but given that they grow at a rate of about 1 cm per year and can reach around 6 meters in length, they can live a pretty long time. Normal methods of aging sharks don't work on the GS. Sharks are usually aged by counting growth rings on fin rays or vertebrae, but Greenland sharks don't have fin spines and their vertebrae are too sift to form growth rings. In 2016, a paper titled "Eye Lens Radiocarbon Reveals Centuries of Longevity in the Greenland Shark (Somniosus microcephalus)" by Nielsen et al. was published that described a new aging method in which crystals in the eye lens could be radiocarbon dated to provide and age estimate. The oldest shark they tested was aged at 392 ± 120 years old. If the lifespan falls on the upper end of that range, it could give the GS a maximum age of 500 to 600 years old. The same paper also estimated that they don't reach sexual maturity until around 150 years old. The GS is officially listed as the longest-lived of all vertebrates.
Tumblr media
It looks like somebody tried to draw a shark from memory (image: a Greenland shark swimming under ice)
The extreme age and slow lifestyle of the sharks is linked to their habitat. Despite the name, they are not only found around Greenland. In fact, they live in very cold waters (0.6 - 12 degrees C or 31 - 54 degrees F) in the north Atlantic and Arctic Oceans. They are the only shark species to live in arctic waters all year round. It is likely that they have a much larger habitat range than we know as they spend most of their time in very deep water. One specimen was found as far south as the Caribbean. It's possible that the north Atlantic and Arctic Oceans are the only places in their range that are cold enough for them to tolerate surface conditions and in the rest of their range they stay in deep, cold water. Being an ectothermic (cold-blooded) animal living in very cold conditions requires a very slow metabolism and slow metabolisms are linked to longer lifespans. A slow metabolism also requires less energy, which is very advantageous for seep-sea animals, who may be forced to go for months or longer between meals. The size of the shark may also be linked to its habitat. At up to 7 meters (23 feet) long and 1,400 kg (3090 lbs), the GS is one of the largest fish in the world. This size could be an example of deep-sea gigantism, a phenomenon in which deep-sea animals grow much larger than their shallow-water relatives. There are many proposed explanations for deep sea gigantism, including cold temperatures inducing growth (Bergmann's rule), improved foraging ability, defense against predators, and greater dissolved oxygen availability in colder and deeper waters. Because of their abyssal habitats, Greenland sharks are rarely observed in the wild and we know little about their natural behavior.
Tumblr media
(Image: a scuba diver swimming next to a Greenland shark)
What does a large carnivore living in food-scarce deep water eat? Just about everything. Greenland sharks are generalists who will eat almost any meat. They are both scavengers and active predators, with a diet consisting primarily of squid as juveniles and fish as adults. Most of what we know about their diet comes from the stomach contents of dead specimens as they have very rarely been observed feeding in the wild. Seals also make up a large portion of their diet. As it's very unlikely that such a slow shark could chase down and catch a seal for lunch, the shark likely targets sleeping seals. Greenland sharks are scavengers who likely get a lot of nutrition from carrion. They have very sensitive noses that they use to track down rotting meat. Stomach contents have revealed meat from various animals, including polar bears, moose, and reindeer. They are known to follow fishing boats to snatch up any scraps. Greenland sharks are apex predators who play an important role in the Arctic ecosystem.
Tumblr media
(Image: a Greenland shark captured by a fishing boat)
As mentioned above, Greenland sharks are estimated to reach sexual maturity at around 150 years old. They are ovoviviparous, meaning that the eggs hatch while still in the mother, who then gives live birth. A typical litter has around 10 pups (likely the maximum given the metabolic requirements of reproduction) that are about 38-42 cm (15-16.5 in) long. Due to their lifespan, it is estimated that a single female could produce between 200 and 700 pups during her life. Unconfirmed reports have been made of them hybridizing with other sleeper sharks.
Tumblr media
(Image: a 100-year old juvenile shark that washed up on a beach in England)
Greenland sharks are often found infested by the parasitic copepod Ommatokoita elongata. This parasite attaches itself to the cornea of the eye and infests both the Greenland shark and the Pacific sleeper shark and dangles out of the eye like a thread. The presence of the copepod damages the eye, leaving the shark almost if not entirely blind. This doesn't actually seem to hurt the shark that much as they rely mostly on smell and hearing. One hypothesis stated that the copepod may bioluminesce to attract prey to the shark, but this remains unconfirmed.
Tumblr media
(Image: a close-up of a Greenland shark eye infested with a copepod)
Now to address the elephant seal in the room: Greenland sharks stink. All elasmobranchs have concentrations of the compounds urea and trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) in their bodies, but the GS has a higher concentration of these compounds than other species. The compounds are waste products retained by elasmobranchs to aid in buoyancy and the GS has more because they also help resist the pressure of the deep ocean. The concentration of urea is high enough that you can smell it if the shark is near you. Urea is a key component of urine. Greenland sharks smell like piss. The high levels of TMAO makes Greenland shark meat toxic to humans. Despite this, people still eat the meat, but it must be treated first. This can be done by boiling the meat multiple times or by fermenting it. A national dish of Iceland, kæstur hákarl, consists of Greenland shark meat that has been buried underground in gravelly sand and pressed with stones, then left to ferment for 6-12 weeks. It is then dug up and cut into strips, which are hung up and left to dry for several months. Apparently first time eaters are known to gag because of how much ammonia is in the meat. I don't think I'll try any.
Tumblr media
(Image: hákarl hung up to dry)
Because of their deep-sea habitat, Greenland sharks have relatively few interactions with humans. In the past, They were hunted for their liver oil, but in modern days, there is no fishery for them. Greenland sharks are classified as vulnerable by the IUCN. Their primary threat is bycatch and they are likely being affected by ocean warming and loss of sea ice in the Arctic. Because of their slow maturity and low fecundity, Greenland sharks are particularly vulnerable to population loss. There are no recorded attacks on humans. The species features in the legends of the Inuit. The legendary first Greenland shark was named Skalugsuak and one story says it was born after a woman washed her hair with urine (a lice remedy) and dried it with a cloth. The cloth then blew into the ocean and turned into Skalugsuak, who still smells like urine. Another legend says that the shark lives in the urine pot of Sedna, the sea goddess, explaining its smell.
