Ironically, after taking me out of years of kdrama slump, Lovely Runner is going to leave me with a worse slump sniff. This might even surpass any romance kdrama I've watched before as it's focused on the romance first and it didn't go off the rails on the 2nd half. Ryu Sun Jae, pls take responsibility, chuseyo.
Guys I'm still so not over it. As part of "Kidnap Sun Jae and Run" Addicts Anonymous, let me help you cope through this 10 step program:
1. Play OST nonstop
"I Think I Did" and "Sonaki" will definitely be 'memories embedded in my soul' for playing the OST nonstop from when I wake up until I sleep.
It's going to be a tragedy if Byeon Woo Seok doesn't sing any of these live on his upcoming fanmeets. Pls pls pls k-ent gods.
2. Rewatch from the start
Undoubtedly one of my comfort watches from now on. I knew it was going to be good when near end of ep 1, Younha's iconic "Umbrella" song started playing, Sun Jae was walking towards a crying Sol, held the blue umbrella to shield her while he's getting rained on. Aww. I'm so soft for these scenes. (Deja vu to Bogum's MDBC anyone?)
3. If time is limited, watch the last 10 mins of every ep where writer-nim always saves the fireworks till the end!
In ep 2, the OG "I Think I Did" started playing, where a smiling Sol held the yellow umbrella to Sun Jae, and he hopelessly fell for her, is now going down as one of the most iconic scenes in kdrama romance. I'm usually not a fan of instacrush. But their relationship naturally developed more when they got close, during that stretch of Sun Jae's swimming injury plot.
4. For masochists like me, rewatch all the times Sol rejects Sun Jae. Ugh it hurts, but it hurts so good. A lot of rejections, but these 2 scenes...
In ep 9, when college Sol drunkenly curses Sun Jae as "pabo" for always going back to her, when she just keeps on hurting him. But he can't help himself. Sniff.
In ep 12, the setup before that train scene, where Sol asks Sun Jae not to cry when she leaves him to go back to the future. Then cut to next day on the train when she tricks Sun Jae and leaves him alone on the train, and of course Sun Jae can't keep his promise and his tears fall. Simply drama magic.
5. Rewatch the kissing scenes!
Sadly, nothing quite matched that ep 8, very hooot kiss between the 2 now adult Sun Jae and Sol. Sol discovers Sun Jae still pines for her all these years, and Sol finally admitting to him about her true feelings, the pent up feelings for 15 years in that kiss...,whew (fans self)!
6. Rewatch all my fave scenes!
That cherry blossom proposal scene is one of the most beautifully shot ones I've ever seen, glad he axed the first one lol. And a picture of the future wedding scene though imaginary for now! It's our reward for suffering for 15 eps lol.
7. Read and like all LR related posts, bts, stills, fanart.
You know it's a hit when fanart is everywhere, and I can change to a new Sun Jae-Sol wallpaper everyday and bask on the gorgeousness of BWS .
By the way, that latest clip of the live watch with the cast and where BWS is crying in gratitude sniff. He knows his life is also changed forever by this drama. Deserving! I was always intrigued by BWS's looks before, and he really surprised me with his acting, he also has great comedic timing!
It's just rare nowadays that the drama has the whole package, I love the cast and their characters too.
8. Read and like all posts related to BWS and KHY, and the cast.
Kim Hye Yoon poured her heart out on this drama, she really carried it.
I didn't get to talk about the rest of the cast yet. At first, I was getting used to some of the 'over the top' comedy, but by that condom confusion scene, I was laughing too. I love that all of the cast is just going for it even if it's bonkers crazy. But my fave has to be adult celeb Sun Jae's assistant who has this hilarious deadpan face and delivery of lines, and always has that 'tsk tsk what a loser' look of scorn towards Sun Jae, when his boss is at his most embarassing lovesick self mwahah.
9. Recommend LR to every unsuspecting person, let's spread the addiction, and destroy their lives too lol!
10. If still not recovered, go back to step 1! Good luck!

super macho man headcanons
these headcanons? you cant afford these headcanons!
Can and will always reply to anything with "that's what she said" or "your mom" if it fits, everyone absolutely hates him for it.
Says he has a godly spice tolerance but can and will scream if you give him anything remotely spicy, considers black pepper spicy.
Has a wardrobe full of silly button-ups with fun patterns, he is not ashamed of it and will show it off with pride.
Very reckless with stuff he owns since he can always buy another copy of it thanks to his bank account as deep as the mariana trench, has crashed 3 cars somehow. (1 done for shits and giggles, 1 accidental and the last one stolen.)
Can and will go shirtless anywhere, in his iconic Super Macho Banana Hammock™ if possible, to the point where his PR team had to stop him from showing up in it to a funeral once.
Sings in his sleep and its absolutely HORRIFYING, its always either Lady Gaga songs or beatboxing, has woken up to himself singing multiple times.
Has the ugliest crying face ever, the WVBA has the unspoken rule of "Do not look at Macho Man while he cries unless you can hold in your laughter or youre a fast runner." Thanks to him.
Really good at improv comedy somehow, it works thanks to his voice/accent and the way he answers questions.
Cannot pronounce Baja Blast, it always comes out as "Boho Blost"
Has been caught stalking the other boxers social media accounts, the first victim of this was Glass Joe, everyone later found out he was absolutely flaming everyone on his alternative accounts.
Likes eating Jello, has a shirt that says "I FUCKING LOVE JELLO" that was a gift from his dad.
Once tweeted out a picture of his ass to Don Flamenco after he lost a match to him,got banned instantly off of Twitter.
Extremely commited to jokes/bits to the point where he references them during actually serious situations.
Has bailed out the other boxers out of jail multiple times, he may be a asshole but he isn't willing to let his fellow colleagues™ stay in jail.

Coming back to the Smiling Friends next gen with some more kiddos!
Meet the Pimlings! Pim has always dreamed of a big family and he got it, but it’s way more work than he bargained for. He can’t just sit back blissfully with his partner and watch his little ones play when it takes all he has just to keep them from injuring themselves or someone else. He wouldn’t trade them for the world even on his hardest days, but he sure has his work cut out for him. Baby fever lied to him when Dottie was little, making him think that parenting would be easy when really Dottie was a statistical outlier adn should not have been counted.
Pim does have a wife and his kids do have a mother, he talks about her all the time! She’s the love of his life, he says, more than he could have ever asked for. But none of the other Smiling Friends have ever met her, not even once. And Pim brings his children with him everywhere he goes, as if he’s a single father. Charlie and Zoey trade off Dottie duties all the time and so do Glep and Marge with their kids, but nobody has seen Pim’s wife share parenting duties with him. He insists that he’s giving her a break, but who will give him a break?
As for the kids themselves:
Kip (pink) is the girly girl, the spitting image of her estranged Aunt Amy in appearance but not in personality. She’s a social butterfly who makes friends easily, an optimist after her dad’s own heart. Her best friend is Dottie, who has her own friendship bracelet to match the one Kip’s wearing now.
Ell (yellow), to contrast her sister, is an active little tomboy who loves to show off her iconic Pimling speed. She’s the fastest runner of all her siblings, but even the slowest one seems to be able to run faster than the speed of light. She puts that energy to good use on various athletic teams as she grows older!
Nee (green) and Dur (red) are a couple of little shits, or silly little rascals as their dad would put it. They both have Mr. Frog brainrot and unfortunately both look up to him as someone to emulate, which spells bad news for everyone around them. The fact that they’re twins and super in tune with each other only amplifies the chaos they cause. Pim has not gotten a wink of sleep since they learned to crawl and he probably will not sleep again for the rest of his life because of them /j

WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT
Thank you for everybody for participating in the Sleepyhead Tournament! It's been a lot of fun, we had a lot of interesting matches and propaganda throughout it all! Now that it's finally concluded (+ a few extra days for good measure) it's time to announce the winners!
First, I want to give a shout out to the Mod's Choice winner, Garfield! The Mod's Choice was a single poll, compilations of my favorite characters submitted for the tournament! It isn't the most definitive of tournaments, but it's enough to give a sleepy, lasagna-loving orange kitty an honorary bronze medal! It was a little disappointing to see him lose in Round 1, so I was definitely glad to see him get this at least! Meme and cultural icon himself, you go Garfield!
Next I want to highlight the two Bronze medalists! These are the two that got to a Semi-Finals, before losing. It definitely wasn't an easy fight to get this far. Though they were not able to get into the finals, we can give that silly dog and pink squish ball a round of applause! Their sleepyheadness cannot be understated! Snoopy is a Tumblr icon and everybody loves Kirby, so is it any surprise they got this far! :)
Now, we congratulate the runner-up of the tournament, the Silver medalist, Portgas D. Ace! This was definitely a surprise, as although One Piece is very popular, he was only submitted a few times AND won against Roronoa Zoro, another One Piece character who was the MOST submitted character. I'm not a One Piece person, but have to hand it to the guy! Good job!
NOW IS FOR THE WINNER! THE GUARDIAN OF LOVE AND JUSTICE HERSELF, SAILOR MOON! USAGI TSUKINO! Usagi was my original profile picture for this blog and I recently reread all the manga, so I was definitely very happy to see that she won this tournament! CONGRATULATIONS USAGI, WE LOVE YOU!!! May your next Sailor Moon power up let you take the best nap in the world...
BUT WAIT! THERE IS ONE MORE WINNER TO CONGRATULATE!
We ran a Loser's Bracket as well, the winner of which was Snorlax! A great choice, as Snorlax has always been one of my favorite Pokemon and had a lot of excitement going into the tournament! Not only that, but when this Loser's Bracket winner went against the main tournament winner, Snorlax won!!! One could make the case that THEY were the real winner, even if they lost in the main tournament. Congratulations Snorlax, here is your gold medal :D
Once again, thank you everyone for making this tournament so fun! Love you all <3

KOTLC Adult Fan casting, brought to you by your local cinephile (stick with me now edition)
just the key parents + antagonists in part one :)
if this does well i'll drop part 2
Grady Ruewen - Evan Peters (this is the only vid i could find showcasing his acting, stick with it)
Justification:
Has done action, comedic, and dramatic roles; therefore can pull off both the lighter and darker aspects of Grady's character
Has the 'look' if that makes sense. like the vibes match up well.
can be very intimidating
Edaline Ruewen - Felicia Day
Justification:
Plausibility because Day is a huge nerd and so would eat up kotlc
Does emotion really well (see Cara clip)
Alden Vacker - Aaron Taylor Johnson
Justification:
I could see him as Alden or Grady (stream bullet train), but this scene really sells his more Alden-y side if that makes sense
THE ACCENT ONG ONG FR ONG
Della Vacker - Ana de Armas
if any knives out actor should be in kotlc it's her NOT chris evans
has done action movies like Ballerina (upcoming) and Blade Runner (i thinkkkkkk)
so so so badass
Lady Gisela - Emma Stone
Justification:
I almost went with Edaline, but then watching roles where she plays more intimidating/cruel characters (see the clip) she'd be super interesting as Gisela
Acts in a lot of weird/experimental/risky shit (Lanthimos movies, The Curse, even La La Land to an extent)
Hard to explain, but kind of an unexpected actress? Like she can pull off anything thrown at her.
emma stone is mother and so is gisela
Vespera - Aubrey Plaza
I feel like vespera is for the girls so she should be played by someone who played such a gay icon badass?
this is here because im deeply in love with aubrey plaza
i need aubrey plaza
Fintan -
Reblog who you want to play Fintan because i do not know anyone that could capture the unhingedness of this specimen
#kotlc#kotlc movie#kotlc thoughts#grady ruewen#kotlc grady#edaline ruewen#kotlc edaline#alden vacker#kotlc alden#della vacker#kotlc della#lady gisela#kotlc gisela#vespera folend#kotlc vespera#fintan pyren#kotlc fintan#holy shit thats a lot of tags#not gonna tag all the actors i said because thats a LOT

Round 2, Match 4
Sister Bertrille (The Flying Nun) vs Canoness Veridyan (Warhammer 40000)
Sister Bertrille is lightweight and susceptible to Puerto Rican wind gusts. Possibly she's a novice of the Daughters of Charity but it's never specified what order the Convent San Tanco belongs to.
Canoness Veridyan is a Sister of Battle and a Canoness of the Order of Our Martyred Lady
Sister Bertrille
She's Sally Fields! How can you not love her?
---------
A US sitcom in the 1960s actually had some bits of Spanish.
Canoness Veridyan
No propaganda submitted
Poll Runner's Note: Iconic.

My Personal Ranking of Teen Wolf Media so far, CONTAINS SPOILERS
1. Season 3B, this is literally the best writing, directing, and acting of the series, with Dylan O'Brien flexing his acting ability, reminder he had no formal acting training, and the death of a main character cemented this as the best season for any YA show in TV history. The Nogitsune aka Void Stiles is fucking terrifying.
2. Season 4, this season is underrated to me, from Kate's return to Derek losing his powers. However this season saw the departure of Tyler Hoechlin from the series as a main cast member, and that may have soured this season for many people. Between the werejaguar and Peter turning heel the villains are at their best and we get the iconic scene of Derek turning into a evolved werewolf.
3. Season 6B, the end of the series kicks into high gear and doesn't stop until the end. Stiles, Derek, Jackson and Ethan all return after long absences and make the show feel like Teen Wolf again, the villain is awful but Theo and Liam easily carry a few episodes.
4. Season 6A, due to Dylan O'Brien needing to leave the show to film Maze Runner, the writer's decided to have new villains called the Ghost Riders kidnap Stiles and effectively erase him from everyone's memories. This leads to the best acting from Tyler Posey imo. This also had the return of Derek via archive footage and Stydia becoming canon.
5. Season 3A, The Alpha pack is severely underrated and I loved how Danny got some character development even if it was small.
6. Season 2, Underrated? Yes. Good? Ehhhhh. The Kanima is fucking iconic and Colton Haynes shows off how fucking incredible he is as an actor. Derek's "Alpha high" is also well played. Boyd and Erica are good side characters but they deserved better
7. Season 5, the first season without Derek and it shows, the show decides to hint at a next generation spin off (which never happened) with extra focus on Liam Dunbar. But it feels like Scott, Stiles, Lydia and Malia are given the backseat. Theo Raeken is easily one of the best villains, manipulating everything to his benefit until it back fires on him. However this season gets boring fast with twenty episodes following one story. My favorite scene is still Stiles finally snapping and punching Scott.
8. Season 1, the start of the series also happens to be the worst. Scott is at his worst but is still likable in parts. The actors quickly get better with every episode, Holland Roden definitely improves fast.
9. Teen Wolf: The Movie, I don't even want to talk about this. This is Scallison fanfiction with all the bad parts of fanfiction, Derek is killed off, Malia and Parrish are a thing, Stydia broke up because of a dream etc. However, I did like Crystal Reed's performance as Allison, balancing being numb and brainwashed and scared because she doesn't know anything, Eli Hale is the best part, and the scene of Derek, Scott and Eli roaring with all the rooms matching their eyes is iconic, the score helps a lot.

Since we've tackled one big adult animation network, let's try the other and more prominent one with the FOX adult animation shows. For the first (and arguably most iconic) batch, favorite character from the 1989-2005 era with: The Simpsons, The Critic, King of the Hill, Family Guy, Futurama (which was on several networks between Fox, direct to video, Comedy Central, and Hulu), The PJs, and American Dad (which also got spread between two networks between Fox and TBS)? I know especially in the cases of The Simpsons and Family Guy, the favorite character will vary considering both shows have gone through various rough patches and declines in their long runs so if you wanna have more than one favorite depending on the era of the shows, that's fine.
Fair enough and this is something i'm happy about especialy because, as tends to be the trend, most of these are shows i've watched at least a little and it seems to be consitant for most of fox's shockingly small program pool. The good news is i've tried most of it at one point or another, so there's no gaps this time up to and including the most recent show universal basic guys. So with that let's rip.
The Simpsons: Faviorite character is hard not due to the series sheer length, but to it's sheer cast size. So while it was a hard choice my faviorite is probably grandpa. Which is weird: he has two spotlight episodes I geninely love off the top of my head, yet he earns this spot by just having so many damn good jokes, which is common for any simpsons character but abe just cranks em out from his pants dropping, to "a little of collumn a a little of collumn b" , "I used to be with it", the onion monologue, and so much more. The guy may be on the edge of the show and an awkward fit for spotlight eps at times, but my god does he deliver. And of course he's responsible for my favorite simpsons joke
It's funny enough in it's first scene but that sudden call back. Runner up is easily hans moleman, who is just inherently funny and like Grandpa is funny just by showing up, up to the most recent episode at the time of this ask where he just randomly shows up for homer to make a pun mid song, or the premire of this season where he sees himself on the listings of funerals for the series faux finale and sighs. Third is Chief Wiggum and i'll stop it there but he gets here for a lot of reasons, from sky police to... well everything he does in I Love Lisa. not an exageration. "Have they set a date", "I keep my pants on in this version", the boot on ms hoover's car.
Anyways I could list why simpsons characters are great all day but tha'ts not what this is. Anyone whose seen at least one post on this blog knows how much I love the simpsons
While Frinkiac, an image making website that has a database of the first 17 seasons makes this easy, there's a lot of jokes I just couldn't do if not for them, I'd still be making every refrence i could: The show at it's peak is a non stop barrage of clever jokes, well done character work, and more clever jokes.
The show does have a reputation for decline.. and it's not unwarranted. While I still think at least season 9 is pretty good, the Scully era slowly took the show into mean spirited attempts to match the other shows at the time. There's a reason the term Jerkass Homer came from here.
That said I will combat the narrative that "simpsons just got bad and stayed bad". That it became oops all mike scully. It didn't and that era of edgelord nonsense was fairly short even if it leaked a bit into the Al Jean Era.
The real issue i've noticed visiting the ocasional episode that sounded intresting over the years, and especially after watching youtuber the real jims is that al jeans LONG tenure (As in it only ended with season 34 and he's still apparently in charge of the half assed disney + specials) is kinda bland. There's some good stuff like ned and ednas sadly brief due to real life tragedy marriage, the weird as hell episode where Selma Marries grandpa while Lisa and Bart engage in a lord of the rings style war with UPS over boxes that even includes a dragon and nelson. But a lot just feels bland. It dosen't have to be as good as the golden age, no show can stay that good forever and youtuber and simpsons expert the real jims is what got me out of the "only classic era and season 9 good" mindset I was in. There is good.. it's just a coasting era and I could entirely agree with the arguments simpsons could end.
Emphasis on "Could" as what i've seen of the most recent seasons is fun. Now granted like many I came into what I watched of season 34, the first show ran primarily by longtime writer matt selman but using a unique format where a diffrent writer shoruns each episode and where this new age began, expecting a new golden age. The thing is while it's not that.. it is still solid and the writers are putting in more effort. I still bob and weave out of watching it weekly as some episodes just don't interest me. But the series is far more willing to shake things up or experiment while still keeping the status quo: Bart gets a new teacher woh matches him while being far more resonable and compasionate than any other teacher at the school like Edna was, but without her clear case of burnout, longtime background extra larry died and Moe got engaged.. then the show forgot about it.
More importantly as RealJims pointed out recently in a video, the show is experimenting a lot more each season: you'll get an episode where tow hackers modled after prominent simpssons youtube Lydia from Simpsons Theory and her husband air clips of episodes that never existed poking fun at fans, an episode spoofing primal, a schoolhouse rock parody, and just in this current season alone a faux finale exploring what a simpsons finale shoudlnt' look like, another shorts episode focused entirely on the women of springfield and a second anthology ep focused entirely on ray bradbury. The show may not break status quo, and I wish it would just a tad, but it does break format often and is geninely trying to play with things among more standard episodes. I mean we got the masterpiece that is "A Mid Childhood's Dream' about marge dealing with Bart growing up out of this. Selman and Co really have brought life into the show enough for me to check it out and even the mid episodes are at least intresting. The show may of been in a decades long slump, but it's more than justifying it's existance and likely will keep going till one of the main cast sadly passes on and I for one welcome our new simpsons overlords.
The Critic: Budududdudududud, do do do doot doo ... god that theme song is catchy. Anyways Franklin. I said it in my election special and i'll say it again: Gerrit Grahm owns every scene franlkin sherman is in. Franklin is a living meme in the best way possible and thank god we got him. Duke's a close second for largely the same reasons.
The show itself is excellent. I did keep distance for a bit as it's star, John Lovitz, turned out to be an asshat now sulking around fox news with other comics who wnat the kids to get off their damn lawn. But even if Lovitz Sucks, like Rosanne, a show isn't automatically bad because it's star is a jerk and the critic is a great sister show to the simpsons having the same rapid fire energy. Parts of it haven't aged well as Al Jean and Mike Reiss leaned HEAVILY into refrence humor and while some stands on it's own, others have aged terribly if you weren't there or refrence films I hadn't heard of. Their movie parodies are a coin flip.
Despite this the show powers through the dated bits by nto only being a sharp satire at times, but simply having a stacked cast of characters and voice cast: Every character is memorable in some way, and the bulk have great gags to their name. Lovitz for as much as I resent him now, was at the top of his game as jay and gave the punching bag a sense of energy, with just enough smugness to understand why people might not like him.
The show only got better in season 2: Season 1 still has classics, paticuarlly it's finale (MAKE HIM SQUEAL!), and the debutante ball episode, but season 2 eases up on jay a bit, still dumping on him but giving him a great foil in his girlfriend alice, who he has great chemistry with an der.. also wedging her daughter in there. It keeps what worked but ups the pacing resulting in a lot of the series best. The Critic is free on tubi and it's a stone cold classic of comedy well worth watching.
King of the HIll: Doot doot doo doo doo. It's Dale. Easily. God bless Johnny Hardwick for his monumental performance, the show would not have been the same and i'm greatful he'll be present for some of the revivial.... just.. please don't be into Qanon dale. But Dale is just funny while also having a lot of depth: He loves his wife, is a good father (he still once tries to help his son kill a panda to seem cool, but given dale's many terrible life choices, it's remarkable THAT'S the worst it gets), and while a coward, a good friend when it counts most.. to Hank and Boomhauer. Bill can go stand in the corner. Dale is hilarious fun to watch and memorable every time he does a thing. I mean who else could make chlroforming himself this funny. Or of course this which really sums up the character
youtube
The show itself is excellent. Like most fox shows it slid a bit as it went, with the later seasons being meh most of the time, but at it's peak it's a solid down to earth show with great characters, comedic timing and growth. I like some eps more than others even at it's best, but I can't help but adore this show: I watched season 3 a LOT in high school via some dvds I got cheap at walmart, and the show is part of me as a result and even fi it wasn't.. it'd still be dang good, a nice nuanced portrait of a man despreatly struggling with the time he' sin and his own trauma. It also has washington hitler
youtube
It's all in the delivery. It's not without faults: I'm not a huge fan of not giving bobby a romantic arc after Connie, Peggy got more insufferable with each season, and as I said the show got blander as it went. But at it's peak this show was great and I can't wait for the sequel.
Family Guy: You know the words. Faviorite character is hard as the bulk have just.. degraded with time, but i'll go with peter as he's the one whose degraded the least.. I mean he's become a bigger asshole but he's not that diffrent.
The show itself was good in it's prime, around the first 5 seasons. There is some edgelord bullshit in there: Transphobic jokes, about half of quagmires joke, and more i'm probably not thinking of but we've got a lot of shows to cover in this ask and the bulk are fairly intensive to talk about as they've been on since the dawn of time.
But my god the show had so many good jokes. I admit I have nosalgia bias: I watched the show a ton on adult swim, was giddy when ti came back and watched it weekly up to road to the north pole when my patience ran out. And seeing Brian vomit for a minute and a half realizing he slept with a trans woman wasn't exactly af ond invitation to go back. When the show was at it's peak, it was hilarious nonsense, having some good character stuff (ToonrifiqTariq in paticular has pointed out the series suprisingly well threaded theme of Peter learning way too much of how he acts from tv and movies), while also just being hilarious. The cutaway gags get shit.. but in thei roriginal form as quick bursts of nonsense and not filler to kill time, they were fucking great. Their a way to pepper up boring expositoin. I mean Meg could just make a quip about Peter being left to his own devices when lois gets a job.. or we could see just what she means by "turned the house into a giant puppet"
youtube
It just had a fun nonsense vibe where weird shit like Donny Most rising from some haze happened. It was a solid weird show and I still remember many a cutaway and gag for just being that good. I do wish the show would stop at this point, and I know, given my defense ofr the simpsons to continue that's weird, but it needs to either find something new to do with itself or gracefully end. I tried it again with the halloween specail but it seems.. really not that much diffrent than it was post it's darkest and most stupid period, which unlike simspons seems to have lasted a lot longer and been even more vile. I mean it's where we got "Quagmire's Father", the worst piece of television i've ever seen or reviewed. But the show like simpsons could stand from a bolt of fresh creativity.
Futurama: DUN DUN, DO DO, DUN DUN DO DO DO DO. IT's the show that CANNOT die. It has come back THREE times now, over direct to video movies, a cable revivial and now streaming. And I love it
Faviorite character first: Bender is great, bender bender bender is great. John DiMaggio broke out with this role for good reasons, a hilarious jack of all trades that thanks to Tariuq and his good friend Johnny2Cellos i've also embraced just how easily upset and thin skinned he can be. I hope john gets to play him as long as the role exists and Bender's suprising depth combined with his endless factory for jokes is great. Nixon, as you could probably guess from the electoin specail, is a close second.
The show itself is excellent, a nice blend of simpsons rapid fire pacing at it's peak with some high concept sci fi stuff. It's also aged shockingly well with only Amazon Women in the Mood and Bend Her sticking out as having premises that didn't age well (And in the case of Bend Her it was bad even before it's tranphobia aged like bad milk left in a parking lot). The original run is funny, incredibely well paced and often deeper than it has any reason to be.
Like simpsons Futurama has distinctive eras though rather than be chunked up by showrunners it's chunked up by what network they were on. The films were solid though the premise of beast with a billion backs has aged horribly and was already a tad creepy to start with, while benders game is just.. meh.
The Comedy Central run started and ended strong.. but isn't a lot to write home about. There are fantastic episodes that make me more than happy we got the first revival: Lethal Inspection, The Late Phillip J Fry, The Prisoner of Benda, Law and Oracle, The Bots and the Bee's, Zapp Dingbat, The Six Million Dollar Mon, Stench and Stenchabhility and Meanwhile.. but the bulk are mediocre. You have episodes with outdated and grossly sexist premises (Nutopia and the Butterjunk effect), just plain stupid ones (Fun on a Bun) or episods that are instantly dated (Attack of the Killer App and Decision 3012). The revivial has just enough good and decent to justify existing, but isn't anywhere near where they were and given the gap between there isn't as much excuse for this decline as say the simpsons middle years where 20 some years under the same guy is naturally going to cause some malaise to set in. You had PLENTY of time between seasons, even with everything else going on to come back with something fresher.
Thankfully what i've seen of the Hulu Revivial (The first eason of it and an episode) more than makes up for it. There's still a few clunkers, sure, but the team really found their grove, helped by , unlike a lot of these shows NOT sticking rigidly to the status quo. There are changes that while not changing the series formula, do help create fresh stories; Kif and Amy's kids emerge from the bog (albeit widdled down a bit thanks to the curetly of nature and the bottomless appittie of john zoidberg) and are now active characters, Leela moves into fry and benders place (And Bender takes it exactly as maturely as you'd expect). Their small changes, sure, the show's mostly same as it ever was, but it's a sign of a show willing to try new stuff. There's still some cruft left over from the comedy central era, we REALLY don't need these anthology episodes, but on the whole it feels like what the first revivail shoudl've been: A mixture of fresh talent and the old guard coming in or coming back energized. It honestly reminds me of the current run of simpsons: We didn't NEED more, but it's good there's more good episodes there.
The PJ's: No faviorites here as i'm not really a fan of this one for it's thin characters and mean spirits, though I do respect it a bit more nowadays. If only a little. And I DO like it's stop motion art, something vastly different from most other fox animated shows. I also appricate having less to say as i've had to answer this one over a few sitdowns as most of the shows here had a decades long run, with the PJ's and the Critic being the only two to be short runners. While Fox has a reputation for one or two seasons shows, it's far more spread out than you'd think. So yeah this one isn't for me but I respect people liking it as it was one of the first adult animated cartoons created by black creators and with a nearly all black cast.
American Dad: OH BOY IT'S SWELL TO SAY, GOOD MORNING USA! It's a hard choice between two great side characters, so i'll let them BOTH have the honors. Avery Bullock entirely for being voiced by sir patrick stewart saying the most insane shit the writers can come up with and Principal Avery, who as the show went became the breakout we all deserved
American Dad is a solid show but not one i'm really all that invested in like the last three. I watched it every week for the first season or so then on and off on adult swim, I liked it and I think it's far more solid than it has a right to be. I haven't really touched the TBS era and here it's a pretty sharp decline with few bright spots, which tracks. It did give us Rogu, Roger's Homonculus though so good on it for that blessing to our world. But the show was pretty good I just don't have a ton to say about it either: it has some really good eps, it has patrick stewart singing oingo boingo and it has this joke
youtube
Sometimes tha'ts really all you need. Not my faviorite, but not a bad show.

[Image Description: Strong Sad, Strong Bad, and Strong Mad from the Homestar Runner internet series dressed as the Nailmasters from Hollow Knight. Strong Sad is dressed as Sheo, Strong Bad is dressed as Mato, and Strong Mad is dressed as Oro, the distinctions only indicated via Strong Sad wearing Sheo's paint-stained apron and each brother having an emblem resembling the menu icon for each Nailmaster's respective Nail Art on the clasp of their cloak. Strong Bad and Strong Mad are both holding a nail, with Strong Bad resting his confidently over his shoulder as his free hand is on his hip and Strong Mad holding his by his side, while Strong Sad is holding up a paint brush. The background consists of abstractly streaked grey and white with a brown "floor". End ID.]
-----
I've been meaning to do some more Homestar Runner art for a while anyways, and with my recent fixation I figured I could combine the two because both properties have a trio of prominent brothers. Of course there are distinct differences between the two families--namely the Brothers Strong looking so wildly different from one another and often being physically if not always emotionally close, whereas the Nailmasters would be completely identical if not for Sheo's added apron and are located at considerable distance from one another especially in Oro's case, but there's enough similarity on an individual level for me to have made it work.
Strong Sad is Sheo here, as he seems to be the most outwardly sensitive and creative of the three Strongs (though tbh they're all creative, Strong Sad just has the highest combo of both skill and sincerity). Strong Bad is Mato because they both seem to be the most enthusiastic about their narrative purpose--Mato is proud to be a Nailmaster and wants to pass that teaching onto a student, while Strong Bad is both a troublemaker and always tries to come off as "bad" in the "cool" sense, a badass if you will, in desire if not in full execution. And of course, Strong Mad is Oro, not because they were both the last ones to get matched, but because they're both outwardly tough while inwardly soft (Oro's reluctant acceptance of the Delicate Flower paralleling with Strong Mad's deep friendship with The Cheat and genuine love for his younger brothers). And something that I didn't realize while working on this that makes this even more fitting: the Godhome fight where Oro and Mato finally come together and, even if only in a dream, make amends and fight side by side as the brothers they are. In one of the earliest HSR toons that is now apparently taken off the site, Marshmallow's Last Stand, the whole plot was Strong Bad and Strong Mad challenging Homestar and Pom Pom to a tag-team fight. :3

BFDIA 14 thoughts (spoilers ahoy)
I can't believe they brought back the basketball rain of all things. Oh that thing in the promo image was a bunk bed. Lollipop face time is cool!! Finally TB admitted the cloud was a snowball.
Somehow I thought coiny liked bugs. David rave!! Shout out to yoylestraw, and now we have a host we can understand. I like the use of Pan Flute as a graph, it's what Kevin MacLeod would have wanted.
Shout out to Coiny making Pin get everything back but her limbs! Then why did we have the whole compacting thing anyway, just for false hope? I wish we would at least find out who controls everything in BFDI, probably just the Huangs.
Spongy relaxing on a beach with Bubbly Pop is great, and they're keeping the tradition of him killing hosts. The little instrument guys are back but they're dead, which is too bad. I like that they're still keeping the insulting cell phones from BFDI 25 in play.
I have come to like Barf Bag more after this episode, I just pay more attention to BFDIA. The LOLers being the host is so nice. I didn't like that GB got voted off, she is a favorite of mine, but it does help with TB's arc of learning how to do things on his own. It's funny that she was eliminated by a golf club.
OK I just realized rewatching for the post that Match being satisfied is probably a reference to how she and GB were in the bottom 2 in 5a. And GB screaming exactly how she did in BFDI 1a is just... :) I know it's nostalgia catnip but it works on me!! Kind of reminds me of Homestar Runner somehow
The Crappy Cliff being mentioned on the wheel is silly, I kind of like it. Pan Flute being killed because they spent money on the poster is sad but his manner of death was funny looking at least! And his influence is felt throughout this episode. Kevin MacLeod is a good sport for letting his character be killed, and iconic tracks REAL BFDI fans will remember are heard all over the contest, including the backwards remix of Sunshine as heard in BFDI 1b! I wish he put that on the vinyl record...
I can't believe Eggy hates poly freesmart so much. I kind of like the pair logos, I wish TB said "pair up? okay" like he did in BFDI 17, that would be a cool easter egg to add for longtime fans. This episode makes Tennickel a viable couple, and not just because Nickel was a good substitute for GB.
More Snowball content is always welcome, he is a jerk but a funny jerk at his best (at his worst he's just complaining about armless people). We get to see the Five Islands here, so they probably won't be the prize instead of the farm. Bottle talking about Evil Leafy made me want to start #bottlevil as a semi-joke but also yuri
The constant talk about "island 1" Is probably a BFDI 6 reference, but I'm not sure enough to put it on the wiki. Anything that is BFDI 17 Recommended Characters Auditions Mentioned makes me smile, like the "only ball with lines" bit. The Go Guys are back in HQ! And characters running through the Evil Forest with BFDIA 1 music is so familiar, especially since they are technically running from Evil Leafy, making it the opposite of BFDIA 1!
The FreeSmart SuperCoffin is so unhinged and I love it. Donut saying "NO!" is the only thing people remember about him since he was eliminated early but that was a setup anyway since the other two were CoinPin and all Donut did was bicker with Pencil. Coiny jumping from vine to vine is cool.
I can't believe TB just used his powers for evil. Oh, I get it, Fries fed his fries to Bomby, thats why he has one left. There's a PERC on Dora's island, I wish its pencil-excluding aspect was more relevant, because I want to see more specific recovery centers! There are ones for individual contestants, what about groups like teams or plant objects?
Pillow just learned pillows exist. I thought Needle slapped Book from far away. I like the use of Rocket by Kevin MacLeod with the "snatch" gag, and it's also a stealth pun on the rocket packs. I can't believe they used his track that was in a carykh video about all the recommended characters, though.
I just realized the teddy bears are the same types as the We Bare Bears. I like Teardrop's island, but I can't believe we saw Teardrop's cousins on BFDI before Gelatin's brothers. This may be a reference to an early "recolor camp" called BOTTLE, but that's probably pretty obscure.
ITS THE FREESMART COMEBACK OF THE CENTURY!!! And Ruby wanting to bring back Bubble is so adorable. Especially since I watched BFDIA 2 at the same location a lil more than 12 yrs ago and I was sad that Ruby didn't want Bubble back. #fullcircle
I love Cyborg Pin, by the way. I would rather her stay that way forever than have limbs. Of course they used the Teardrop Family Reunion line. I thought Coffee Drop would be diarrhea because they were near a porta potty and the other characters with many relatives have Poo relatives.
Pencil using helium to make fun of Ruby was so silly, especially since they used to have the same voice actor (Ruby switched Huangs after BFDIA 6, I just looked that up). I love that Bubble can fly if she is inflated enough, and that little Spongy mouth! TB calling Toilet Brush TB is a really good bit.
SPRINGY SHOES MENTIONED!!! Is everything that comes out of Pin replaced by ooze? Also Camera and Teardrop's Pirate Adventure mentioned. The characters trading off short voice clips was so random but I liked it, the Match/Pin rivalry from early BFDI is back! I never knew how much I missed, like, Match until now.
Coiny with the hammer reminded me of "be more careful" right away and I felt vindicated to see it used. Bob-Omb recommended character being a bobber combined with a bomb is underrated. Nickel has that Chip Skylark energy. I love Teardrop's pirate ship.
Puffball Island is awesome! I wish they stayed talking like Puffball. Did Fries just call Puffball brat? Pin's song is the best, by the way. BUBBLE SAYING YOYLECAKE AGAIN~ Bomby censoring Fries's anti-Puffball song is a good one. I wanted to hear Coiny sing.
I have come to like Puffneedle and I always saw a common bond between them with them both having nicknames, I'm the yuri hipster. Pencil is finally respecting Needle! Ruby's tactic to steal a song was very cool. BUT PIN SNAPPING IS EVEN COOLER!!! That scene was so Homestuck but also Fear Garden.
I ended up voting for Ruby to get the prize and Book to be eliminated. I like Book but I like Ruby more, so consider voting Book out VTSing Ruby. Also, I feel Evil Leafy should have been used better. What's the point of having a superpowered evil version of the best character in the show if she doesn't even get to kill someone, or talk to Bubble somehow?

Thoughts on the women of Homicide?
Amazing. As per usual for this show, they were varied and complex and not always likeable. In fact there were a few I distinctly DIDN'T like.
But let's start with Kay Howard. Remember when they stopped putting makeup on Melissa Leo and just let her hair do what it wanted, to match her perfect clearance rate? Remember how she wore sports jackets and pleated trousers and looked like somebody's small female uncle? I mention her appearance bc it was important in conjunction with how Kay took no prisoners but at the same time she showed interests in keepsakes, and family, and getting laid. She sometimes went out of her way to support other women and sometimes didn't seem to care. She liked talking about sex with her fellow detectives and somehow managed to hit a sweet spot where it was like they were talking man-to-man except she wasn't a man. It was great.
Megan Russert - UGGGGHHH. I think one of the show runners said they wanted a "fuckable" woman on the show? Anyhow Meghan was a pick me with her satin blouses and her coiffed hair and the way she said nonsense like how she wanted to be "the best detective not the best WOMAN detective" and thought it was idk 'tokenistic' or something to support other women in the department. She sucked. Her kid sucked. Her affair with Beau sucked.
Special mention: Barbara Shivers. I love u girl <3
Even MORE special mention: Emma Zoole. A Chinese-American woman with an obsession for death art who slept in a coffin and fucked Bayliss in said coffin!?? I loved Emma Zoole beyond all reason and only partially because she was played by the marvellous Lauren Tom.
Julianna Cox was so good. Aloof standoffish M.E. with wounds a mile wide, who decides to gravitate towards the OTHER walking wound on the squad and then we got to watch her and Mikey eviscerate each other without even realizing it? Fantastic. She was no ordinary shiksa. Blew into town in her hot rod and left the same way. Iconic.
Terri Stivers - loved her. I liked her energy with Kellerman and the ever-mysterious referring to him as "Sir Michael"; I liked that she entered the Luther Mahoney mess from an 'outsider' perspective and Meldrick was fascinated AND put off by her. I love that she got embroiled in it and did a complete 180 on Kellerman that I didn't understand the full importance of then but I sure as fuck do now.
Georgia Rae Mahoney was a classic sort of antagonist and completely out of stereotype. Possibly a lesbian? I could never quite figure her out and I loved that.
Laura Ballard ... look I wanted to like Ballard. I like Callie Thorne and she was kinda fun but she suffered from New Character Shows Up Your Beloved Existing Characters syndrome. It was especially irksome that it was in a ham-fisted storyline where Pembleton was lax in investigating a prestigious black family just because they were a prestigious black family to the point of ignoring evidence. And then they gave Ballard that juvenile office romance with Falsone. It was just tedious. But not as much as --
Rene Sheppard! I can't be fair to her because I didn't think the actor was very good so I tuned out or fast forwarded most of Sheppard. She got beat down gun took. Her ponytails looked punishingly tight.
Billie Lou -- god please why
Mary Pembleton made the greatest potato salad in the entire world full stop.
