genuinely curious how the writers and larger dragon age audience would treat thom rainier if instead of being appropriately* repentant and putting himself in prison he blew up a major orlesian government building to instigate a chevalier rebellion or tried to have someone do some necromantic blood magic ritual involving uncertain danger and possible sacrifices to bring the innocent children he ordered killed back to life

#*appropriately as in showing the expected amount of remorse in the appropriate way in a society founded on guilt and shame #i think blackwall actually tells us a lot about how dragon age's writers conceptualize justice and deservedness of punishment #im glad we get the option to forgive him but why do we get the option when anders is exiled at best?#and later characterized as a villain by dai #when solas is willfully imprisoned at best and trapped in a horrifying psychological torture chamber at worst?#blackwall gets a full redemption happy ending if inky so chooses #and im not saying he shouldnt #i forgive him every time #but its so interesting to me that narratively speaking #he seems to earn his happy ending through submission to punishment via imprisonment #as does solas but blackwall is portrayed far more sympathetically overall #there isnt the same meta-level narrative slander and clear agenda on behalf of the writing to make you feel a certain way about his crimes #as there is with anders and solas #why? whats the difference? what did he do to buy himself that narrative goodwill?#put himself in prison? why do the writers love carceral punishment so much lmfaooo #mine #if you wanna screenshot these tags and add them to the reblog feel free #im realizing i prob just shouldve put all of this in the post but its too late now #i think theres actually a strong argument that thom does not do nearly ENOUGH to right his wrongs #where is his effort to reform the orlesian military? where is his criticism of orlesian imperialism?#how does serving in the inquisition have a direct impact on the people he harmed? it doesnt #when you compare him to someone like roy mustang #yes im comparing him to roy mustang this is my blog and you are never going to escape roy mustang comparisons here #roy's political ambitions following his war crimes are directly related to those war crimes #and his goals directly benefit the same group of people he harmed #their ancestors and family members literally #meanwhile blackwall just kind of does vague “good” deeds and gets a full redemption #he really does not make much effort to repatriate the harm he did as a soldier #he just moves on #which again.... no shade to blackwall. my inky forgives him

I don't think Jayce and Viktor literally died. They were kind of pulled into another dimension/astral plane/whatever you call it. We see older Viktor, and while it could be another Viktor, I think it would be more meaningful if it was our Viktor, finally free from the arcane, going through the universe with Jayce, fixing timelines together. Kind of like a cosmic mission.

Watching House, you just have to accept that sometimes the writers will make him act gross and slightly out of character.

1; because of the times, and 2; likely because the writers have their own weird fetish about it 🙄🙄

#specifically the episodes of him interacting with a teenage girl #house has been shown that he very specifically thinks that teenagers are stupid and he’s not attracted to them #he ALWAYS opts for the older woman; around his age #even with cameron; he didn’t go for her #so WHY are there random af episodes where suddenly this teenager who is flirting with him is soooo hot and tempting #they even use ‘jailbait’ a lot 🙄🙄🤢#almost everything he does is out of a place of sarcasm or not taking anything seriously; or even as a political/social commentary #the intersex episode specifically is less him being weird and more a social commentary and explicitly pointing out how absurd & weird it is #so WHY the FUCK did they suddenly write him like *that*#like; he’s not just flattered. i cant get over the whole time in the real world rick just sat there watching over morty and when he woke up finally rick sounded SO happy the way he just yelled his name excitedly the second he woke up,,,

#hallmark #a biltmore christmas #time travel #WHERE IS MY POST-CREDITS SCENE SHOWING HOW MARGARET REACTS???#she was one of the best parts of the movie!#you need at least five minutes of her screaming for joy!#also clearly there was a conspiracy of people in the past who knew about the time travel thing so how did that work?#what about that bearded guy on the crew who was CLEARLY another time traveler?#(there is no way that facial hair came from 1947)#also where does the relationship go from there?#how do you adjust?#does tour guide riker help out?#so many unanswered questions can fit into the last scenes of that film and i need answers #also just overall: thanks to people who said this one was worth seeking out because my goodness what a delight #that movie oozed charm #i think maybe my true core fictional love is classic '30s/'40s film because i was digging that vibe #the banter! the patter! the zingers! the perfect blend of cynicism and sentimentality #some of the background stuff was too modern but also some was spot on #that guy who played claude looks like he was born to be a classic Hollywood film star #the leading lady did not fit the vibe at all but she had great chemistry with the movie's leads so i can see why they cast her #the old-timey writer dude was charming #the main lady might be a new favorite hallmark actress (there's only one other on the list)#(watched part of a different film with her in it and she seems to put some of that classic hollywood sass into her roles)#i wasn't sold on the male lead at first but the writing came through for him #when he sits in the chair behind her! when he's trying to guess her personality traits?#charming and absolutely spot-on for the vibe #(the fact that they cast hallmark regulars in the remake is hilarious and also sad because it looks so much worse than the original)#anyway great time had a blast will definitely be rewatching

I love that the best emotional acting when it comes to facial expressions comes from Lan Wangji (microexpressions) and Jiang Cheng (macroexpressions). Lan Wangji doesn't emote much but when you're keyed in, the tiny little changes in his facial expression are Devastating. Meanwhile Jiang Cheng is feeling Every Emotion, All The Time, and you are going to see it on every inch of his face. He'll go through twenty different expressions in the same amount of seconds and that face journey will be but a brief glimpse into the awful emotional rollercoaster that is Jiang Cheng's life

#mdzs #also on the list of best facial acting is wwx simply because it was fun watching him go from bright and smiley full of joy and life #to his descent into madness and grief and death #but i feel like lwj and jc really take the cake for opposite reasons #it was wild getting to the point in the show where i could easily read lwj's face #and it would be like how. barely anything changed. how do i look at this and know immediately that you are absolutely smitten #and then there's jiang cheng my love absolutely sobbing SO OFTEN #wzc seriously did so good conveying jc's range #i think about the miserable kicked puppy expression when jingyi accuses him of killing wwx So Often #it's so subtle on the first watch but on rewatch ohhh my god #speaking of i kinda wanna do a side by side comparison of wwx's two death scenes #the one in the first scene and the one much later #bc i know it's shot differently #but im also p sure it's acted differently #if i remember correctly jc looks more angry in the first scene #and more conflicted the second time #but i might be wrong

It is fascinating to me that Edward nygma is the only man who has someone in love with them kill their lover and justify it. Every time this happens to a character besides from Ed it happens to a female character. The fact his own desperation to not face responsibility for doing that action toward a woman makes this more tragic

We all know Timmy is Wanda’s mama’s boy but we need to keep in mind he’s still Cosmo’s kid too and that Cosmo would love him just as vehemently as Wanda

#fairly oddparents #not that anyone has portrayed him different #certainly not distance he loves Timmy he probably says it the most in the show and in fanon #but still- watching New Wish there felt like there was a disconnect with Cosmos character-like he wasn’t as well defined as he was in OG #that’s in part due to them toning him down from being an idiot plain and simple but I feel like it wasn’t fitted with something else it was #simply taken away #just to say he didn’t have as much of a presence to me in New Wish as Wanda did and I crave spinning Cosmo around in my brain #I want to see Poof being his Dad’s Boy yknow and I want to see cosmo doting and I want to see when he gets like. parental rage for the sake #of his kids #yknow? Yknow? part of him feeling detached in a new wish has translated into him not wanting to get as close to Hazel as he did Timmy-#to try and play it more like godparents are supposed to- just a presence for a couple months #but also because like. he got SO attached to Timmy and he’ll never regret it and he’d never do anything different #but idk. if it were me I wouldn’t have the capacity to go through losing my godkid again after becoming that attached #that’s not even mentioning that they don’t HAVE to be in hazel’s life the same way they were in Timmy’s because Timmy was going through #neglect and Hazel has loving family and friends all around her at all times- her blocks are mental #in that way cosmo and Wanda just have to do the Typical Godparent Job of aiding her- not becoming people she desperately needs in life #which also bleeds into why I think Peri was having such a. difficult time #godparents aren’t supposed to be attached the way his family was to Timmy and that how he learned it #but his first godkid is Not Easy and lends immediately to the issues Timmy was having where he HAS parents he HAS things (though . #okay starting from the beginning of where ppl usually dislike him. apple woods chapter.#he doesn’t give hero/partner the CHANCE to explain themselves despite them being relatively good recruits up until that point.#and that legit might be my only gripe with that chapter bc!!! stories need conflict! I LIKE the conflict in apple woods!!!#hero and partner being punished so something they didn’t do!#the misunderstanding! how team skull (Skuntank) actually outplays the main duo with a clever yet rotten trick. I LOVE that it segways into-#one of the more sweeter scenes of guild members looking out for eachother. I LIKE APPLE WOODS CONFLICT.#but chatot just. not giving them a chance. is so dumb.#I’d personally fix this by having a lil montage of hero/partner fucking up on jobs. A LOT. and chatot giving them a pass every time.#and let the perfect apple incident BE the one where he puts his foot down and doesn’t listen to them. bc he’d given them loads of chances.#and doesn’t want to hear any excuse.#but yeah. I legit dont mind him during that chapter except for that really stupid and frustrating moment.#NOW. CHAPTER 17.#UGGGGHHH WHERE DO I BEGIN #Him not believing hero and Partner about Grovyle and the future being in ruin? FINE. ACTUALLY GOOD. BC CHATOT WOULD BE SKEPTIC.#IT FITS HIS CHARACTER!!#BUT WHAT DOES SUCK. IS HIM GOING ‘Dusknoir isn’t the bad guy. he didn’t do anything wrong’#WHEN HE LITERALLY KIDNAPPED HERO AND PARTNER RIGHT I N F R O N T OF HIM.#(NO LITERALLY. HIS CHARACTER IS IN THE FRONT ROW WHEN IT HAPPENED.)#and him. having the GALL to tell hero and partner they must’ve been ‘seeing things’ and downplaying the HELL they went through.#despite them being missing for hours/days. his own guild recruits. and his angry sprite showing up.#like. I think that’s when I genuinely despised him.#that and him going ‘OH I BELIEVED YOU THE WHOLE TIME HEEHOO :)’ shit was so fucking annoying.#just playing it off as a joke the second the guild started to believe hero and partner.#IMAGINE IF HE W A S ACTUALLY TESTING THE GUILD’S TRUST. SHOWCASING HIM AS THE MORE RESPONSIBLE AND RESPECTFUL RIGHT HAND OF THE GUILD.#and yes. Brine cave he saves hero and partner. but at that point I just didn’t care anymore.#he fucked those two over so much. that I didn’t care what ‘valiant’ sacrifice he had.#and he grills Team Skull for what they did OFF SCREEN. they couldn’t even give us THAT.#<<< THAT or him outright saying sorry would’ve been nice.
