Whumpee is brought back to life by Whumper, maybe Whumper is a mad scientist who brought them back for fun or research, or maybe Whumpee died and Whumper just couldn’t handle the idea of their precious Whumpee being dead (especially if they were the one who killed them in the first place).

Then they meet Death, or in other words, Caretaker. At first, Caretaker is ready to kill Whumpee for real, because they don’t believe anyone should have the right to escape death, but then they find not only is Whumpee incredibly abused, but also Whumper is the one who brought them back.

...so they take pity on them and grow rather protective of Whumpee, and decide to not only spare them, but become their friend and protector.

Puss does love his kids in SoLM, and doesn't blame them for the situation, instead viewing them to be victims of circumstanceas well. However, his relationship with each litter is different. Eavh litter sees the relationship between Puss and Death in different ways, and that does affect their behaviour towards Puss, and his behaviour them.

He's closest to his first litter though. And while he denies having favourites, they are very clearly his favourite children.

As for Death- his relationship with his children is slightly more complicated. I'm not sure if he really loves his children or just what they represent; a chain that binds Puss to him. He favours the later litters, though, as they favour him, and does not get along with the first at all.

personal pet peeve is when animated movies where some characters are american and some are british get a dutch dub but they dont take advantage of the existence of flemish dutch & netherlands dutch and make all of the characters speak netherlands dutch. like we literally have the same "two main accents, at least according to tv land" thing in dutch why not translate that too.....
