what's pissing me off most about the election is how many people who have similar opinions are absolutely tearing into each other in search of someone to "blame" for the trump win. It doesn't matter what we could've done differently because at the end of the day it's done. blaming each other and turning on each other is only gonna help the white supremacists who want to run this country. so instead we need to focus on creating community so that we have a network of resistance and care built into our lives. tear into trump supporters all you want but if you are anti trump, if you were discontent with both options, if you were/are whatever, focus on people who share the same ideas as you and how you can build each other up and make your community stronger. that is where revolution begins. not yelling about ballots that have already been cast.

Life is a series of lessons. Trial and error. Success and failure. Despite copious amounts of planning, regardless the itinerary one had planned, even with all one’s efforts. The winds of the great magnet will ultimately choose the way.
I once told a friend, going through a rough time, ‘Man! You can swim against the current all day and you’ll end up in the same place you started. If you go with the flow, it’ll bring you to the sea.” I surprised myself with how prophetic it sounded.
Just go with the flow.
What happens when that flow takes you and those you care for, through rapids, white water, crashing and tossing the cargo most dear, you and those dearest to yous, safety, happiness, and well being?
Maybe that was the point. If you were to follow my theory, the flow was taking you where you belonged. Through the turmoil, through the chaos, through the uncertainty, so you weren’t stationary. Yet when you look upstream, that position once stagnant, looks peaceful and inviting.
If you look at it through the lens of eastern philosophy, being present in the moment because moments are eternity. From a, want is the root of all suffering and, through suffering comes enlightenment perspective, the tumultuous times are the very essence of existence.
The thing is.
It’s not me where my concern lies. My life has been a series of pain, loss , abandonment, and struggle. I’ve had to start from nothing a couple times. I am use to nothing coming easy, to everything having to be done the hard way. It’s toughened me, aided in an ability to adapt, to survive. It’s made me who I am.
It’s those who are vulnerable. Those who are easy targets. Those who are marginalized. Those who are unable, unwilling, incapable of properly defending themselves from the rapids of existence or the cruelty of others.
I can’t stand a bully. I’m a pretty big, blue collar, tradesman who has used his body to make a living for over 20 years now. There’s not a whole lot of people where, face to face, are going to try and push me around, physically threaten me. It’s not a great idea. People who bully, degrade, discriminate, or pick on others are not something that I’ve had to deal with since grade school.
Yet I see it often. I see people hurt and take advantage of people who don’t deserve it, sometimes don’t even realize it’s happening. It pisses me off! Those people who would push around someone they know do not pose a danger to them, those people, I can see right through them. Insecure and hurt children, despite the age, who, as a defense mechanism for what happened, or didn’t happen, to them, put this tough guy mask on, overly aggressive and macho. It reeks of a lack of self confidence.
They express this frustration, this anger, this lack of self worth by making others miserable, by making it hard on them because life has been hard on themselves, and why should others have it easy when everything was such a struggle in their lives. By making others feel small and powerless, for whatever reason, makes them feel the opposite. Powerful, strong, tough.
I think that’s one of the, if not the, hardest things in the outcome of the 2024 election. To know, that the most vulnerable, easiest to target, kindest people, are the ones in the line of fire. The ones who already singled out for their differences, status, or preferences in society. They are now who will be isolated to receive the blunt force of the victors.
Immigrants and their families, working hard for a better future, paying into a system they will not reap the benefits from down the line. The LGBTQ community, already ostracized for who they are. Minorities, unable to hide or pretend they aren’t the color they are, disenfranchised for years, and scapegoated unjustly. Women, treated like second class citizens for millennia, given the right to vote after those of color, or trusted to even control their own bodies by a patriarchal culture. Those with disabilities. The young. The old. The marginalized masses of America. Now more vulnerable than ever before.
It’s said that, “the cruelty is the point” when it came to Donald Trump and MAGA. I don’t disagree. These people didn’t hide their prejudices. They didn’t hide their hatred, their anger. Some politicians, some movements, will put a front on, use dog whistle. They were using a blow horn to announce their dislike of transgender people, their dislike of immigrants, their dislike of women. Their dislike of equal treatment. They ran on that shit.
The worst people, with the worst perspective, with the worst intentions, now validated in their plight. Given assurance that their xenophobic, anti-immigrant, racist tendencies and behaviors are credible. They are vindicated in their actions and hate speech.
Thats what hurts. The thought that these bullies, these assholes, these racist pricks, are given legitimacy to continue that tradition.
That those who are already unguarded in this world are now left in a place with even less protection.
It’s not fair to them! It’s not acceptable to hurt those who are the most sensitive and open. It’s not fair to isolate those who were already isolated in this turbulent world. Now it will be even harder. The current of existence submersing them in the riptide of a populous focus. How is that ok!?
It’s not. Martin Luther King Jr once said, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of Convenience and comfort, but where he stand in times of challenge and controversy”. Thats where those of us who can defend, must defend.
Those of us with the capability to stand up against the wrongs done to others. To defend those who are cornered and scared. To protect the rights of our fellow human, regardless whether it directly affects ourselves or not.
To protect and defend the Constitution. To safeguard democracy. To secure the rights and liberties that so many, gave so much for us to have.
Things are going to get worse before they get better. Just last week a group of Nazis where waving swastica flags outside of an Anne Frank play. The Trump administration hasn’t even began yet, but these pricks are validated that this behavior is acceptable, it’s condoned even. It’s going to get worse.
That’s why it’s important that if we can, we do. This treacherous journey has just begun, but when we come out the other side. May we be all the more better for it. All the more strong and tougher due to it. May we show that being good is far more rewarding than being a jerk.
Only through this will we get the world we want to see. Through our actions through our kindness. John Adams once said, “To be good, and to do good, is all we have to do”.

i am waiting for my tylenol to kick in, so here is an unpleasant experience with a coworker (who i am neutral dislike with). i traded my coworkers shift and i did a midday. I ended up working with three other people, here is the cast:
coworker 1: first gen bosnian american, she is going into her freshman year of college, she is going to play soccer there. she is muslim and her family fled bosnia during the genocide and settled where I live. she isn't too religious, but her family is
coworker 2: idk much about her, she's not very relevant to the story, but I like her, she doesn't do much at work but she's chill. she is like in her early 20's and she is married to a 50 year old that's the only interesting thing about her
coworker 3: our main antagonist. she 24 i think and is very loud and can be very obnoxious. she has been working here about as long as me (about 1 year maybe a little more a little lesss) i go back and for between liking her and not liking her. she has screamed at multiple people and has issues with controlling her emotions because of either bipolar or borderline personality disorder, not sure which.
Now lets set the scene, it's like 1pm, the tail of the lunch rush, we're in drive through, which has it's own little section unlike most paneras where it's just one production line. I'm with coworkers 1-3, i'm doing my thing, making salads when coworker 3 brings up politics and she's talking about voting.
coworker 3 is a very "tell it like it is" person but not in the blunt and honest way, but the "i don't care about other people's feelings i'm gonna say shit and not read the room" type of way. she also has said in a training thing that she thinks her biggest fault is that she's "too nice" when i know she has screamed at multiple people, giving one a panic attack (over soup).
she says she's voting for trump and starts getting very brash about it (she's maga). Now, i don't get into political conversations at work because 1.) i don't know enough to hold those conversations 2.) i'm not a very confrontational person. I do, however, interject when she says "i'm voting for trump because he's gonna make us all richer" i say "no what he's gonna do is he's gonna cut the taxes for the rich and raise the taxes on the poor"
and then she keeps going on about how she doesn't know much about politics but her dad and grandmother do so she's voting the way they're voting and also says that she doesn't think people who don't understand politics and aren't inclined to want to know more about politics should vote (which like ok girl i disagree).
at this point i'm very quiet and very uncomfortable, coworker 1 (my beloves) is also very uncomfortable and she notices that I'm uncomfortable so she tells worker 3 "hey can we not talk about politics."
coworker 3 keeps on talking, and is told 3 more times to stop talking about politics. now she ends up bringing up how she's not apart of the "woke left" right next to me: an 18 year old, gay, transgender man who transitioned as a teenager. people who repeat the rhetoric she is repeating believe that i am a little girl who was groomed by my parents into ruining my body. and she says that right. next. to. me.
now i don't know if she knows I'm trans, a lot of my coworkers don't, a lot of them just assume I'm really fucking gay, but still. she ends up stopping talking about politics later but I'm still very uncomfortable for the rest of my shift.
I gave her a hug as she was about to leave work because she was crying as she was stressed because her car was broken and it costed like a thousand to fix it and she is in a very rough spot in life right now and I hope shit gets better for her.
the end

Look.
Tumblr media
I have made you a chart. A very simple chart.
People say "You have to draw the line somewhere, and Biden has crossed it-" and my response is "Trump has crossed way more lines than Biden".
These categories are based off of actual policy enacted by both of these men while they were in office.
If the ONLY LINE YOU CARE ABOUT is line 12, you have an incredible amount of privilege, AND YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT PALESTINIANS. You obviously have nothing to fear from a Trump presidency, and you do not give a fuck if a ceasefire actually occurs. You are obviously fine if your queer, disabled, and marginalized loved ones are hurt. You clearly don't care about the status of American democracy, which Trump has openly stated he plans to destroy on day 1 he is in office.
EDIT:
Ok fine, I spent 3 hours compiling sources for all of these, you can find that below the cut.
I'll give at least one link per subject area. There are of course many more sources to be read on these subject areas and no post could possibly give someone a full education on these subjects.
Biden and trans rights: https://www.hrc.org/resources/president-bidens-pro-lgbtq-timeline
Trump and trans rights: https://www.aclu.org/news/lgbtq-rights/trump-on-lgbtq-rights-rolling-back-protections-and-criminalizing-gender-nonconformity
The two sources above show how Biden has done a lot of work to promote trans rights, and how Trump did a lot of work to hurt trans rights.
Biden on abortion access: https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/08/politics/what-is-in-biden-abortion-executive-order/index.html
Trump on abortion access: https://apnews.com/article/abortion-trump-republican-presidential-election-2024-585faf025a1416d13d2fbc23da8d8637
Biden openly supports access to abortion and has taken steps to protect those rights at a federal level even after Roe v Wade was overturned. Trump, on the other hand, was the man who appointed the judges who helped overturn Roe v Wade and he openly brags about how proud he is of that decision. He also states that he believes individual states should have the final say in whether or not abortion is legal, and that he trusts them to "do the right thing", meaning he supports stronger abortion bans.
Biden on environmental reform: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2021/10/07/fact-sheet-president-biden-restores-protections-for-three-national-monuments-and-renews-american-leadership-to-steward-lands-waters-and-cultural-resources/
Trump on environmental reform: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/climate/trump-environment-rollbacks-list.html
Biden has made major steps forward for environmental reform. He has restored protections that Trump rolled back. He has enacted many executive orders and more to promote environmental protections, including rejoining the Paris Accords, which Trump withdrew the USA from. Trump is also well known for spreading conspiracy theories and lies about global climate change, calling it a "Chinese hoax".
Biden on healthcare and prescription reform: https://www.hhs.gov/about/news/2023/06/09/biden-administration-announces-savings-43-prescription-drugs-part-cost-saving-measures-president-bidens-inflation-reduction-act.html
Trump on healthcare reform: https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/07/politics/obamacare-health-insurance-ending-trump/index.html
I'm rolling healthcare and prescriptions and vaccines and public health all into one category here since they are related. Biden has lowered drug costs, expanded access to medicaid, and ACA enrollment has risen during his presidency. He has also made it so medical debt no longer applies to a person's credit score. He signed many executive orders during his first few weeks in office in order to get a handle on Trump's grievous mishandling of the COVID pandemic. Trump also wants to end the ACA. Trump is well known for refusing to wear a mask during the pandemic, encouraging the use of hydroxylchloroquine to "treat" COVID, and being openly anti-vaxx.
Biden on student loan forgiveness: https://www.ed.gov/news/press-releases/biden-harris-administration-announces-additional-77-billion-approved-student-debt-relief-160000-borrowers
Trump on student loan forgiveness: https://www.forbes.com/sites/adamminsky/2024/06/20/trump-knocks-bidens-vile-student-loan-forgiveness-plans-suggests-reversal/
Trump wants to reverse the student loan forgiveness plans Biden has enacted. Biden has already forgiven billions of dollars in loans and continues to work towards forgiving more.
Infrastructure funding:
I'm putting these links next together because they are all about infrastructure.
In general, Trump's "achievements" for infrastructure were to destroy environmental protections to speed up projects. Many of his plans were ineffective due to the fact that he did not clearly outline where the money was going to come from, and he was unwilling to raise taxes to pay for the projects. He was unable (and unwilling) to pass a bipartisan infrastructure bill during his 4 years in office. He did sign a few disaster relief bills. He did not enthusiastically promote renewable energy infrastructure. He created "Infrastructure Weeks" that the federal government then failed to fund. Trump did not do nothing for infrastructure, but his no-tax stance and his dislike for renewable energy means the contributions he made to American infrastructure were not as much as he claimed they were, nor as much as they could have been. Basically, he made a lot of promises, and delivered on very few of them. He is not "against" infrastructure, but he's certainly against funding it.
Biden was able to pass that bipartisan bill after taking office. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Plan that Trump tried to prevent from passing during Biden's term contains concrete funding sources and step by step plans to rebuild America's infrastructure. If you want to read the plan, you can find it here: https://www.whitehouse.gov/build/guidebook/. Biden has done far more for American infrastructure than Trump did, most notably by actually getting the bipartisan bill through congress.
Biden on Racial Equity: https://www.npr.org/sections/president-biden-takes-office/2021/01/26/960725707/biden-aims-to-advance-racial-equity-with-executive-actions
Trump on Racial Equity: https://www.axios.com/2024/04/01/trump-reverse-racism-civil-rights https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-us-canada-37230916
Trump's racist policies are loud and clear for everyone to hear. We all heard him call Mexicans "Drug dealers, criminals, rapists". We all watched as he enacted travel bans on people from majority-Muslim nations. Biden, on the other hand, has done quite a lot during his term to attempt to reconcile racism in this country, including reversing Trump's "Muslim ban" the first day he was in office.
Biden on DEI: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2021/06/25/executive-order-on-diversity-equity-inclusion-and-accessibility-in-the-federal-workforce/
Trump on DEI: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-tried-to-crush-the-dei-revolution-heres-how-he-might-finish-the-job/ar-BB1jg3gz
Biden supports DEI and has signed executive orders and passed laws that support DEI on the federal level. Trump absolutely hates DEI and wants to eradicate it.
Biden on criminal justice reform: https://time.com/6155084/biden-criminal-justice-reform/
Trump on criminal justice reform: https://www.vox.com/2020-presidential-election/21418911/donald-trump-crime-criminal-justice-policy-record https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2024/05/trumps-extreme-plans-crime/678502/
From pardons for non-violent marijuana convictions to reducing the federal government's reliance on private prisons, Biden has done a lot in four years to reform our criminal justice system on the federal level. Meanwhile, Trump has described himself as "tough on crime". He advocates for more policing, including "stop and frisk" activities. Ironically it's actually quite difficult to find sources about what Trump thinks about crime, because almost all of the search results are about his own crimes.
Biden on military support for Israel: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/biden-obama-divide-closely-support-israel-rcna127107
Trump on military support for Israel: https://www.vox.com/politics/353037/trump-gaza-israel-protests-biden-election-2024
Biden supports Israel financially and militarily and promotes holding Israel close. So did Trump. Trump was also very pro-Israel during his time in office and even moved the embassy to Jerusalem and declared Jerusalem the capitol of Israel, a move that inflamed attitudes in the region.
Biden on a ceasefire: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2024/06/05/gaza-israel-hamas-cease-fire-plan-biden/73967659007/
Trump on a ceasefire: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-israel-gaza-finish-problem-rcna141905
Trump has tried to be quiet on the issue but recently said he wants Israel to "finish the problem". He of course claims he could have prevented the whole problem. Trump also openly stated after Oct 7th that he would bar immigrants who support Hamas from the country and send in officers to American protests to arrest anyone supporting Hamas.
Biden meanwhile has been quietly urging Netanyahu to accept a ceasefire deal for months, including the most recent announcement earlier in June, though it seems as though that deal has finally fallen through as well.

poem (November 14th 2024)
we are walking face first into fascism doing nothing but posting and complaining this is the fucking end of the world and we're acting like it's another day what the fuck is wrong with us maybe it was always going to be this way maybe human nature was too flawed from the start to ever try and fix us. I feel like art doesnt matter any more fuck it fuck this fuck everything I've had a knot in my chest for over a week straight I feel like I'm gonna burst like the whole fucking world has gone crazy! people are reporting on this like its nothing more than a worrying downturn when this is the levee breaking when this is the tsunami maybe the usa never stood for freedom and democracy but it at least for a time believed it did and that was something what the hell is this? tell me. if nothing changes drastically then the united states could become another russia what do you think will happen to people of colour to women to queer people to those of the wrong religion or no religion at all to the poor who are ever ground further into the dirt by the boot of capital? do you think our art will still be free? do you think you won't be fined jailed killed for writing saying thinking the wrong thing? is anyone going to do anything about it or are we going to ride out this slow death spiral with crossed legs and placid smiles plasted across our faces? I can't face it. I'm freaking out. a century of social progress turning to dust in our mouths. write to your representatives now. tell them the felon needs to be convicted before he take office. tell them he can't make up departments and give them to billionaires. tell them he can't make an unqualified pedophile attorney general. we are not powerless even if we are almost powerless. it only takes one spark in the right place at the right time to start a raging fire. it may not be much hope but it is hope. submitting to this like the worst has already happened will only assist in ushering in worse. resist with your every breath even if only by living speaking being yourself waking up for one more day for one more sunrise sunset rainfall snowfall birdcall twitching whisker bark at the door hug kiss fuck walk on the beach meal at your favorite restaurant new game new movie new book new poem squirrel staring at you from treetops drive to your moms house call with your best friend communion with yourself with the earth with everything everyone who has ever been is or will be.

R_____ looked at me and was on the verge of tears. “Oh Max, thank you so much. You are making me cry.”  That wasn’t my intent. All I’d done was tell her that if she ran into problems, call me and I would help. It’s a shame what we have come to as a nation, when a person feels threatened by some of those around her.  Continue reading R____

this'll be my last post for the night. it looks bleak right now and it feels like the world might end and i do not blame you for feeling that way. i kind of feel like that too to be honest, but numbers are just numbers and land is just land. the results maps you're looking ar are not 100% accurate.
please please please just walk away from this. you'll wake up tomorrow and we'll all probably be crying, for good or bad reasons. i am begging you all to get away from the screen and sleep if you can because if you're starting to spiral then this is not good for you.
i sound like a broken record and i apologize but i repeat it because it's true: no matter how bleak it seems, no matter how badly this may or may not turn out, we can push through this. get some rest. wake up and keep living no matter what. i believe in you.
wake up and keep living. no. matter. what.
goodnight and good luck. sending my warmth out to all of you. <333

(psst have some more cat pics!!! you all really liked the other ones so here's some loafs to ease your mind. i'll see you all tomorrow.)
making an edit to this post because YEAH IT LOOKS LIKE TRUMP WON. BUT IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE HOPE EITHER WAY. i'm not joking when i say we need to keep going. but please stop spreading so much fear. this is so so important.
we all woke up to a tragedy. but we still woke up, and we're going to keep waking up until the day that carrot boy dies. because 80% of you can and will outlive that bastard if you try.
do i have to repeat myself? wake up and keep living. no matter what. that's what i'll stand by until the day i die. please take a break and take care of yourselves. much love.
