knight aki has always sworn his life to you and the kingdom, but something tells you his soft spot for you runs deeper than mere loyalty.

he's one of your father's most respected knights, revered for his smarts and agility in battle, respected for his unparalleled devotion to the princess, to you. you always thought the rumors about him didn't do him justice, because despite how cold everyone says he is, for you, he's just the sweetest.

he drops to his knee and kisses the back of your hand each time he meets you. he has no problem escorting you around the kingdom (even to the places the king doesn't want you to go to), and you've got no problem with it either, because you feel the safest when you're at his side. you know he'd gladly lay down his life for you, and he'd do it in a heartbeat. and even so, he still manages to treat you more like a friend and less like just royalty. you've snuck him into the castle to keep you company in your room more times than you can count.

so it's really no surprise when you see him in the crowd at your marriage ceremony, he gives you a telling smile and when you get a minute to step aside he's whispering in your ear, Do you want to leave with me? you've never been outside the castle walls before, but aki takes you to his favorite spot, a big hill where the moon illuminates the shape of the castle, and when you find him staring at you more than he's staring at the view you really wish you could abandon the king's wishes and just kiss him.

i think theres this idea in the general public that the "best" fanfic gets turned into real books like 50 shades of grey. but the truth is that the best fanfic can never be published as an actual book because its intricately woven into the canon material so its inseparable even if you change the names

#no shade (ha) to 50 shades. ive never actually read it so idk if its good #but imo the idea of creating an au fanfic thats so divorced from the original work is boring! why are you even making a fanfic atp #the only good fanfic is when you can tell the author loves the source material and uses it #the best fanfics ive ever read could never be published as actual books because it wouldnt work without the context of the original story
