Last night I watched Love Actually with my dad and my grandfather and his partner. And that movie...I may have never felt romance in real life, but that movie makes me feel things. It's a beautiful movie, and I have to salute Richard Curtis for writing and directing it. The movie isn't just about romance; it's just about love. Love between a jaded rock star and his manager, love between a step-father and his step-son, love that crosses the language barrier, love between siblings (Laura Linney's tragic but beautiful story), love that's lost it's spark (Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman's story), unrequited love, love everywhere. Just... it's love. And isn't that beautiful? Love doesn't matter if it's platonic or romantic. It just is. Love just is. And it's all around.

And it's got such a great ensemble cast. Hugh Grant, Bill Nighy, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, Martin Freeman, the list goes on. Nevermind the minor roles from Rowan Atkinson and Olivia Olson (who went on to be an amazing voice actress). It's the modern, romantic, british, christmas version of that 60s classic It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Large ensemble casts, great comedy and sentimentality, long lengths, they're similar movies (and they're both of a great caliber). I love both movies, and we need more movies like them. That's my personal opinion, at least.

reminder not to lower your standards. and if they wanted to they would.

my parents-

my mom has a 3 in binder filled completely with poems my dad wrote her

my dad and mom both kept everything from when they dated in highschool

my dad always says to plan two funerals if my mom dies before him because he can’t live without her

my mom put up with my dads horrible family

my mom drew and wrote him notes when he still went in office

my parents have never forgotten an anniversary

my sister and her bf-

he made her a ring out of guitar strings

learned all her favorite songs on guitar before they even started dating

he watched her favorite movies with her

they both made eachother hand made (personal) gifts for christmas

he downloaded the nhl app and started rooting for the canucks despite knowing nothing about hockey

she goes to church with him even though she isn’t religious

she celebrates his bffs bday with him (his bff died)

my abuela and my abuelo-

he forgot everything (brain cancer) but her

they bought dictionaries so they could communicate with eachother and learned each others languages

she still kisses him goodnight every night (a photo of him)

she still celebrates every holiday with him

Since you wanted me to tell you about seeing my crush today, I did tell her in person that I love her. And she said, you too.

And I also made a friend with this dude that was there. And during the set she (my crush) forgot a certain part of the song they were playing. So I sung it to her, she smiled at me and picked up where I stopped. And her mom was right next to me, she tapped my shoulder and said thank you.

I also talked to her about tattoos and just random things and she hugged me. It was nice.

he reminds you every time that he wants to spend his money on you, no matter how big or small. he knows full well that you can pay for the things he buys you. he knows how hard you work for your money, how dedicated you are to your job.

but if he's there, why should you have to worry about anything at all?
