What moment made you a SydCarmy shipper?

Or at what moment did you realize they were heading in that direction?

For me, it was S1 ep5 when the episode opens and ends with Syd and Carmy prepping in the kitchen together. And then when she asks him to help her strain the broth and they play that song in the background that says something like "This is how I show you I love you" or something. That's when I realized that the show might be heading in that direction.

When I became a full blown SydCarmy TRUTHER though was the frickin panic attack scene. It's like everything came together for me. All those longing looks, all the tension and passion. It makes sense. Honorable mention goes to when Carmy introduces Claire to Syd. Poetic cinema.

What about you all?

I am soooo glad someone said this because never in my LIFE have I have I felt so queerbaited by a straight couple. I couldn't figure out why, but I think this is all on the same wavelength.

I don't even think Storer is the reason I feel queerbaited (unless SydCarmy aren't endgame bc WTF). I think it's the anti-Sydcarmy's. I be feeling like "Sorry, I guess I was wrong for seeing chemistry between them then?? Sorry for seeing something the writers never intended??" Even when the writers clearly did intend it.

I'm gonna say it: there'd be a lot less vitriol towards Sydcarmy if it was an m/m ship, especially if it was another attractive white man. 😒 For example put a man like Luca (sorry for dragging you into this babe) and put him in a Sydcarmy scene like the one under the table or the panic attack without changing anything. I bet it'd SUDDENLY make sense to them. 🙄

During the “Under the table” scene in The Bear… why did my homie (who has a girlfriend who is apparently so great is scares him) tell his platonic business partner that she deserves his full focus? Not the business. Her.

Make it make sense. If my mans said that to his business partner (not to mention the contents of the rest of that conversation) I would have to break up with him.

Also interesting that earlier Syd says smthn like “I need your focus just like you need mine. I’m sorry; I don’t want to share it.” Why couldn’t you say “You need to focus on this business because we’re both committed to it?”

I'm trying to sleep, but instead, I'm thinking about how at the end of both seasons, we got a scene where Carmy and Syd are staring at each other while light illuminates them (in S1, it's more Syd but still), music is playing in the background, and even though there is chaos, in these scenes it is like Syd and Carmy are the only people in the world.

Also, both scenes include Carmy renewing his commitment to her after messing up.

Are we gonna get one of these at the end of each season? If so, bring it on. I am not at all ready.

How do you think Syd and Carmy will realize they have feelings for each other?

Here’s what popped into my mind.

(Forgive me as I am often poor at articulating my thoughts)

Carmy

Carm and Syd are in the kitchen at the Bear.

They are both independently working, kind of like in S2, ep 5. Sydney knocks something over, curses under breath, grabs a broom and dustpan and starts to sweep.

What she knocked over definitely made a big mess. Usually Carmy would jump in to help but instead he just finds himself observing her. He has a slight smile on his face. We then see scenes of Syd and the times they’ve spent together, as though they are racing through Carmy’s mind. And then, like a ding when something is done cooking, we return back to Camry’s face of realization. He realizes “Oh that’s what these feelings have been? I like her?”

Syd snaps him out of it, “Hey you gonna just stand there? Or are you gonna help me?”

Spell broken, he bends down and helps her clean up, unsure of what to do with this new information. Body on fire because of his now close proximity with Syd.

What do you guys think Cicero was thinking when he was looking back and forth between Syd and Carmy during that business meeting (s2 ep1)?

Fine. Maybe Storer and Co want to take SydCarmy the platonic route. I'll (begrudgingly) concede that (if I ever have to).

What I will not back down on though, is that there is no platonic explanation for over like 90% of their relationship. So Imma need that to start making sense. Cuz the math aint mathing.

Picture this:

Carmy is sitting on his couch.

Syd is next to him, her head on his chest.

Carmy absentmindedly playing with Syd’s braids as they both watch whatever is on TV.

Syd stares up at him. “Crazy that from the first moment that we met we were attracted to each other. And that you freaked out so bad when I left because you were falling in love with me.”

Carm smiles back, “Yea. And that I dated Claire because I was scared of being rejected by you. I have wanted to be with you since the moment we met.”

“I’m so glad we’re married and have children.” Carmy says

“Me too,” says Sydney. “And that you are the love of my life and vice versa.”

“As am I, woman I want to spend my life with. And to be clear I don’t mean as friends, I mean as lovers because I love you.”

Sydney smiles at Carmy.

They go back to watching their TV show.

- And people would still be like “Oh I just love these cute platonic soulmates” 🤪

I just came across that post. The one that smells like it slithered out of Reddit and landed here. The one that called SydCarmy shippers delusion and the worst people on this app (or something. Idk I blocked em so I’m not checking).

One thing I do remember is the person saying it’s awful that we think Carmy should get therapy just so that he can be with Sydney (not even gonna repeat what the poster called her smh).

My guy, idk about all the other shippers, but I think Carmy needs therapy to be a functional human being. I think it comes up in the context of SydCarmy conversations because YEA to be in a healthy relationship with someone, it helps if you’re… healthy.

Also, if someone tells another person “you make me better at this” and “I couldn’t do this without you. I wouldn’t even want to do this without you,” then I would assume person one is inspired by person two. Therefore person two could inspire person one to better themselves. Maybe by, idk, going to therapy.

Double also, in an interview, Ayo literally said that if they were to ever get together, both of the characters would need like two seasons of therapy.

So, hear me out. If I shipped Richie and Tina, no one would call me delulu. Why? Bc the ship has no merit and will likely not happen.

Why, then, is it delulu to ship Syd and Carmy? If they’re about as likely to happen as Tina and Richie, then meet me with that same energy. Disagree then move on with your own life.

Instead, I am met with immense backlash, being told I’m not media literate, that I’m projecting (???), that we should see more platonic relationships on screen, etc.

Babes if the ship was as likely as Richie and Tina then let me live in peace. Why does it bother you so much that we think these two will get together if it’s so obvious that they won’t, right? 🤪
