Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge
Tumblr media
A true racing legend! The game that put all other racing games on C64 in pocket. It offers different tracks, the possibility of simultaneous playing of two players, up to three different music during the race, engine sounds, manual transmission, alternative controls and a million other goodies. I'll start with music that is legendary and has been etched in my memory since I first heard it at my friend's Atari ST. In addition, the game is also very nimble and fast on C64. With dashed edges along the track and simple background graphics, the game manages to give the impression of real speed. Moreover, the game is not only on a flat track. Thanks to simple tricks, the authors managed to achieve that the player has the feeling that he is climbing a hill, or, on the contrary, going down a hill. And all this at a relatively high speed. The option of playing with two players adds a new dimension of fun to the game. In addition, the authors incorporated into the game an RPM, speed and fuel indicators and, thanks to the simple system, also an indicator of your position on the track. A simple scale shows how much of the length of the track you have already covered and how much you still have to go. Perfect! You are not alone on the track. In addition to the teammate, there are many other opponents. Their cars are blue, yours are red. You start in 19th place and have to work your way up to the top three. In addition, it is necessary to monitor the fuel that is being used up. There are parking lanes along the road where you can stop and refuel. What got me as a player playing on a gamepad was the possibility of alternative control, where you throttle not with up direction button, but with fire button. This, along with the option of an automatic transmission, raises the playability to a higher level. Simply, this game is top notch in every aspect and I can only recommend it to every racer!

Sega Mega Drive - Slime World
Title: Slime World / スライムワールド
Developer/Publisher: Epyx / Micro World
Release date: 30 April 1992
Catalogue No.: T-49123
Genre: Adventure / Action
Tumblr media
Oh my, what a load of crap this is. It's well known that US-programmed games in the 16-bit days and before were mostly steaming heaps of crap. These days this is not the case but back when the Mega Drive and Super Famicom were popular, came some of the worst-produced games ever and unfortunately most were from the US. Apparently, this game originated from the Atari Lynx handheld gaming system and even saw a similarly terrible port to the PC Engine Super CD. Slime World joins its fellow crap feast friends thanks to its 8-bit-looking graphics, really dodgy controls, and gameplay that is so dull you just will not be bothered to keep playing. God knows why Micro World released this in Japan. Then again, they also released Storm Lord from the US and that was crap as well. Why didn't Micro World bring any of the good Western games to Japan? Even the likes of Test Drive 2 or the original Bubsy, heck even Lotus Turbo Challenge and maybe Aero the Acrobat would have been far better choices.

Ooooh, are we doing recordings? I have a fun challenge for you. Hit YT and look for "Turbo Encabulator", posted by Dave Rondot. It's longish so I'd never ask you to do the whole thing but a snippet would be fun as hell, and I bet you'd laugh. :)
Oh we are sooooo doing this. In full, because longer scripts are better for me on practice since this is mostly about training muscle memory, maintaining breath control, and endurance at this point.
Script:
“For a number of years now, work has been proceeding in order to bring perfection to the crudely conceived idea of a transmission that would not only supply inverse reactive current for use in unilateral phase detractors, but would also be capable of automatically synchronizing cardinal grammeters. Such an instrument is the turbo encabulator.
Now basically the only new principle involved is that instead of power being generated by the relative motion of conductors and fluxes, it is produced by the modial interaction of magneto-reluctance and capacitive diractance.
The original machine had a base plate of pre-famulated amulite surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two spurving bearings were in a direct line with the panametric fan. The latter consisted simply of six hydrocoptic marzlevanes, so fitted to the ambifacient lunar waneshaft that side fumbling was effectively prevented.
The main winding was of the normal lotus-o-delta type placed in panendermic semi-boloid slots of the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a non-reversible tremie pipe to the differential girdle spring on the “up” end of the grammeters.
The turbo-encabulator has now reached a high level of development, and it’s being successfully used in the operation of novertrunnions. Moreover, whenever a forescent skor motion is required, it may also be employed in conjunction with a drawn reciprocation dingle arm, to reduce sinusoidal repleneration.”
(Folks, please, go ahead and send more, I'll record when I can. But let's also go for like... REGULAR WORDS? The nonsense is great too, but this is just getting FRAMBULATED.)

Yugioh OC Week - Day 1: Introductions
Tumblr media
Hi everyone! I know this one is a little late but I've been so busy lately that I haven't had time for this but here she is! This is my Arc V OC Botum Nuon <3 She's a turbo duelist from the Synchro Dimension!
Initially born to refugees of a neighboring country, she becomes the adopted daughter of a former underground dueling queen and her mechanic husband. Along with Yugo and Rin, they're the only family she has and with that, she would protect them with her life.
After being found by Reiji in the Standard Dimension, she joins his Lancers to protect Dennis (her mentor) and Shun (her rival).
After seeing how the Lancers were mostly guys except for Serena and how there were no original Synchro characters that weren't Yugo or Rin, I ended up making her to fil in that void. She's kind of like my 'fix it' character for Arc V gdfjshhgfdssdg
A few notes about her here (Arc V Spoilers in here and please don't make fun of me for saying this) <3
Based off the song Switched on Lotus by Susumu Hirasawa and of course Lotus Flowers themselves!
youtube
Lives in the Satellite with her adoptive parents, in a small portion populated by other Southeast Asians.
Her hobbies include drawing, daydreaming, taking long walks/rides and writing card lore.
She wants to become a card designer someday.
A lot of people who know me would assume that she was made to be shipped with Dennis but no she's Reiji's girlfriend hgdsffdg
She's Cambodian because I am and you know Yugioh could use more dark skinned girls (Shoutout to Masumi and Asana btw)
The words Rebirth and Ascension are in reference to the story about the creation of Lotus flowers I made specifically for this. They're also a theme with her.
She goes to XYZ months before the invasion due to Zarc.
Her and Dennis are Zarc's Envoys, created to protect and guide their Yu boys with love and kindness.
She ends up falling in love with Reiji, one of Ray's Envoys.
She claims that she's Shun's rival because Shun taught her how to XYZ summon and, knowing that he always wants a good challenge, acts as his rival to return his kindness.
She loves snacks, she's almost always have one on hand.
Her bangs are covering a marker. When she was arrested as a child, they gave her one that, since she was too young for it, did damage to her face. Seeing the marker scares her because it reminds her of those memories.
Uses plants decks. Her plants are meant to highlight the lack of nature in the Satellite.
She can talk to Duel Spirits bc of Zarc, same with Dennis

An Introduction
Hello everyone! Just thought I'd do a quick introduction!
I'm JLSoryu (Or James :) ), I live in Scotland and I guess I'm mostly here to share my passion for gaming, in particular retro games.
I've been into gaming from a young age when my family got an Amiga 500+. It was on that system I discovered a number of games that'd be with me forever such as Beneath A Steel Sky, Pinball Dreams, Lotus Turbo Challenge, Operation Stealth, Superfrog and Cannon Fodder to name but a few.
Growing up I'd have a friend who had a Mega Drive where I'd first play what would become one of my all time fav games of all time in Sonic 2.
From the Amiga we'd move to the original Playstation through which I'd play a whole host of incredible games across so many genres from my first 3D Platformers (Crash Bandicoot), to my first JRPGs (Wild Arms), action games like Tomb Raider, Syphon Filter and Metal Gear Solid and beyond.
After that I'd move onto the PS2, and as I got older I'd be exposed to so many more games I'd love - MGS2, Burnout 3, Timesplitters, GTA Vice City, Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3.
And the journey would go on. New systems would come and go, but i'd always make an effort to keep in touch with the ones that had gone before, and that has only grown over the last couple of years as I've picked up systems that I never had growing up like the Dreamcast, N64, Sega Saturn and Mega Drive and expanded my colleciton of PS1 and PS2 games.
Over the last year or two, I made the decision that I wanted to start sharing my passion for retro gaming with others, so I set up my Youtube channel, which was made to just kinda share anything nerdy I liked but also had a focus on retro gaming and last year I started streaming weekly on twitch, just showcasing games I find interesting for all to see.
That'll be mostly what I do here, post my videos and streams, any retro reviews/thoughts and share pics of my collection or anything interesting I pick up.
Anyway, hopefully I get to know more of you in the retro gaming community on here! Thanks for reading and I'll post less rambly things soon :)

After almost a year (Whoops!) my newest Gran Turismo 2 video has arrived - Trial Mountain Endurance with less than 100 horsepower
Most of the tuning was relatively standard for my FF cars, which I largely borrowed from TeaKanji. The only difference is I set the rear wheels with softer tires, softer springs, and more camber, to prevent any sort of slippage. We can't afford to lose power in corners. In fact, I'm only tapping the brakes on two corners. Less than 1% of the race is me braking. How can I be so sure? Well, the average lap is 100 seconds, so that made it really easy to calculate
My version of GT2 doesn't have the glitch where the Vector M12 shows up so I went a different route - Beating the intended champion (the Lotus Elise) using a very weak car - The Lancia Ypsilon. After finally catching up to it, I realized it was blue, and went "Wow, this has some strong Sonic vs. Shadow vibes. There's a new game coming out, right? When is that?"
October 24th.
I recorded this in JUNE.
Anywho, the long delay allowed me a lot of time to pick and set the music. There's a good number of incidents where the music lines up with the action. Most of them intended, but many times where I just happened to check my rearview in time with a potent part of the song or lyrics. I'd like to thank SEGA for not copyright striking a single song from their game soundtracks. If I ever become eligible for monetization, that becomes a huge plus. SEGA does what Nintendon't
If you watch the video, you might realize that an even weaker car could beat this challenge. I tried with a couple, but eventually threw in the towel and went with the Ypsilon, which led me to its excellent race livery and making this a themed challenge run. But if you're feeling masochistic, here's some other cars I tried:
Daihatsu Mira (75-ish hp without turbo)
Suzuki Alto Works (terrible power band, so even weaker than the Mira despite similar horsepower)
VW Lupo (80-ish horsepower, has the most realistic shot out of the 3)
Thanks for watching!

Abandoned Lotus Turbo Challenge Style racer for the Commodore 64
Perhaps a glimpse of how Lotus 2 could have looked on the #Commodore64? Car Racer is a very early, and sadly abandoned racer. It would be great to see the project resurrected. Read more and download the previews at:
