as i prepare myself (mentally) to replay da2 i think about Isabela and Rook's relationship and how there's so little of it it makes me want to throw up (and how i imagine their relationship to be)

with Rook's background of being a Tevinter galley slave (i think this happens regardless of race which. Okay) Isabela could so easily see Fenris here. even in da2 she has a banter with him about freeing slaves:

Fenris: "So you freed a group of slaves?"

Isabela: "Would-be slaves. They weren't slaves yet"

Fenris: "Still, you did a brave thing. Many would turn a blind eye"

Isabela: "Don't read too much into it, alright? It just... seemed like a good idea at the time"

so this part is totally in character. she may joke about a lot of things, but she believes everyone should be free, as do mages, who are met with disgust by so many people in Kirkwall. so imagine her freeing our Rook and taking them in to give them a better life, so they wouldn't end up like Fenris did: angry, full of prejudices and uncontrollable rage

it would be odd for her to want to have kids, considering what her mother was to her and how quickly she gave Isabela away, but it would be interesting to delve into that side of her, especially if she's in a relationship with Hawke. if Teia and Viago get to have that dynamic, why can't she? with the way they bantered with each other after Rook and Taash come back for the first time, it's very subtly implied that she taught them everything they know

and with the way the Lords are, it's no wonder Rook's personality would be shaped by them: Isa is a cocky swashbuckler, and she'd hate to have that rob off on them, but it does. they're both so awful at feelings and emotions, so Isabela wouldn't be able to outward say how she wanted to protect them from harm by Politics, and they wouldn't be able to admit how they want to be back and how they miss being with the Lords

and during the finale i really wanted Isabela and Rook to have some closure. it felt like they separated on a sour mood, and with so much happening in the final battle i would have loved seeing Isabela giving Rook some affection because, in a way, they're her apprentice, her special little guy, and she worries for them even if she really hates to do that. maybe she even promises to get Rook back into the Lords (why they were expelled in the first place is always a mystery to me but whateverrr)

i almost wish the Lords weren't an official faction but a pirate crew or something, a trader's post, a guild, but they have so little content i don't even know what they are, fully. and who cares at this point i say we headcanon the shit out of them

I just remembered that my father would get us to play a game where he would hide in tall bushes and give us one of the walkie talkies. The goal was to communicate with his until we could find him and I can't tell if that's mgs coded or not

I was also taught as a child that weakness isn't allowed but that's a whole different story

in your opinion how do you think robin would act/get along with nancys family

I think that, before they know she's dating Nancy, she'd get along with Mike, Holly and Karen just fine. Karen is just happy Nancy was a girl friend, and Mike thinks Robin is pretty cool. Robin is also super nice to Holly and always plays with her. Nancy has seen her more than once trying to teach her spanish to "give her a bit of an upper leg when she has to see this in school", but Holly is more interested in her crayons. Ted doesn't like her, but no one cares about Ted so it's whatever. He just complains that they're bringing another mouth to feed. He also makes these comments about "his hard-earned salary going to charity" when he sees Robin wearing an old jacket her dad bought back in the 60s and hand-me-down pants and tshirts that have been inherited through multiple generations of cousins before landing in her hands. Robin doesn't appreciate her father-in-law (who doesn't know he's her father-in-law) saying that, like jeez Ted I'm sorry I'm poor, and I think she'd mention that to Karen, like "I guess I just didn't expect an attack over my socioeconomic status today" though Karen doesn't know what the phrase "socioeconomic status" means.

I think she would like to help Karen cook. My headcanon is that Robin is a pretty decent cook, and she likes being helpful, so she'd be there giving Karen a hand. Karen makes the mistake of asking about what she does in her free time, and now Robin is infodumping about her language tapes and her books in dictionaries and her old Operation Croissant plan from when she was 15. Karen is actually pretty impressed by not only Robin's intelligence, but also her curiosity and the fact she'd spend all her free time studying outside of school because she loves learning so much. She thinks she and Nancy will be good influences on each other. Robin makes a point not to mention she's learning russian through reading Anna Karenina (she's not going to let her trauma or the sociopolitical climate of the world take her passion away from her, but she doesn't think Karen would understand when the Wheeler Family TV is constantly blaring news about upcoming russian nukes).

She's always nice and polite to Ted, but in her mind it's kind of an inside joke with herself. She finds it funny when he replies to her saying "good evening Mr. Wheeler! :)" with "oh, it's you again". Mike tells her she doesn't have to greet him if she doesn't want to, but she does anyway.

She might join a D&D campaign once if Nancy makes puppy eyes to her, and Nancy would only join if Mike is being annoying about it enough that she'll do it to shut him up. Robin barely plays though, she's mostly acting as a sports commentator.

I don't remember if they mentioned it in the show, but I hc Mike is very into fantasy books like Lord of the Rings. He ends up getting Robin into it and then they have nerdy talks about it.

Generally Robin is always welcome in the Wheeler household, and she has sleepovers with Nancy every week. If Karen knew what they got up to when everyone was asleep, she probably wouldn't be allowed to come lol but one of the perks of being a lesbian is that, as long as people don't know, you're allowed certain liberties more couples could only ever dream of. For Nancy, falling asleep with Robin curled in her chest every week makes all the secrecy worth it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mike discovered them pretty early on. Nancy wouldn't want to tell him because You Can't Trust Anyone, but one day he dramatically knocks down Nancy's door after hearing weird noises coming from her room. He feared it was a monster or a psychic attack or something, but instead he sees Nancy on top of Robin. There is some screaming and screeching and Mike running to his room ready to pour bleach into his eyes. When Karen goes out to check, Nancy tells her Mike saw a shadow and got spooked and screamed like a little girl. Nancy is fuming and goes to Mike's room to yell at him for never fucking knocking. There's some fighting and hair pulling and a few sibling slaps, but then they calm down and have an actual talk about it. She tells him that, yes, Robin is her girlfriend and he can never tell anyone. And that he really needs to knock on the door from now on. Mike is mildly disgusted that his sister would have sex in their house with everyone sleeping, but he's cool with her dating Robin. He promises to keep the secret.

Next morning when the two lovebirds go downstairs for breakfast, Robin is visibly nervous and awkward and Mike looks at her with his head tilted down and suspicion in his eyes as if he had x-ray vision and was analyzing whether or not she was secretly a robot with robot guns inside her arms. Or that's what her mind comes up with, at least. She tells Nancy she has the feeling her brother and his friends will be stalking her for a few weeks to determine whether or not she's worthy.

If Karen were to find out... that would be an entirely different story.

im not like, an "ii critical" or whatever you wanna call it, mostly i just watch new episodes when they come out and feel pretty lukewarm about them, but gotta say its almost comical to me that the newest episode is like "ummmm balloon you should SHOW not TELL..." and then immediately proceeds to explicitly spell out his problems to him verbally. like. alright man sure

i think about the droid/automaton temple guardians a lot. like--

they aren't alive, but they aren't not alive, either. they have varying degrees of sentience. they remember the jedi, some of them outlive the purge, knowing the jedi are gone save for whatever knowledge they've squirreled away in their memory banks.

cator, the droid guarding the jedi temple archives with jocasta nu, had a personality. he was serious about protecting and sheltering the jedi's knowledge and their history, so dedicated that he stood up to darth vader in an attempt to keep the list of force-sensitive children safe. sure, it was in his protocol to guard the archives, but he didn't have to care, or love it, or want to do this; we see many droids across star wars who do not give a single shit about their programmed duties, while still executing them.

but cator works hard, diligently and carefully, because cator loved his work, and he loved the jedi.

T0-B1 loved his jedi master so much! and his master loved him so much that he powered T0-B1 with the kyber crystal from his lightsaber! of course jedi wants to be a jedi. of course he wants to fight and protect and preserve life, not because he was programmed for it, because he wasn't, but because he wants to honor the man who gave his life to save him -- him, a "meaningless droid"!

then there are the tomb guardians on zeffo.

thousands upon thousands of years they've stood guard over the secrets of their creators, a species so powerful and gifted with the force that they were their own undoing. do the guardians know they're guarding tombs, or do they believe their masters will return some day from the other side of the veil, and the guardians will be there, waiting, stalwart sentinels ready to welcome them home? if they do know, did they mourn? could they have walked away from their posts but instead chose to stay, to keep the zeffo graves from being desecrated, because they'd rather the world forget their masters than allow them to suffer indignity?

did the guardians love the zeffo? surely they must have, without question.

the real question is: did the zeffo who whispered metal ore from the stone and gave them shape, gave them sentience, gave them purpose, love them back? they must have, in the way we all love the work of our hands.

but perhaps the most pressing question is:

long after their circuitry should have degraded, their power cores cracked and dripped empty, their shiny metal carapaces rusted off like so much disease -- what could it be that keeps these machines moving but their love for those who no longer exist anywhere but their memory?

how could you not love and be loved by something that made you, purposefully, in its image?????????
