Hm, I like hyphenated surnames, I really like them but... in this case I am more for J&J keeping their own ones.

Why? Because "Sparrow" is something very special to Jack, I think. Everyone heard this name and knew the man. He's one and only. He worked for it, didn't he? And what is most important here: he needs it. It's something very his. Something that separates him from his abusive father.

Leaving family home - not enough, Jack needs to escape in other ways too. So he always calls himself Sparrow, he does identify with it and not with "Teague". By the way, in Sins of the father, Jack isn't eager to call Teague his family. He very often calls him a guy who may or not be his father like a) Jack isn't sure about being a son of this man or/and b) Jack hopes this asshole isn't really his biological father.

Jack is Sparrow and a sparrow. He's a bird needing freedom (he can't be himself and he can't be safe in own home so he gets out of the cage and lives on his own). He's a little hurricane (well, just like these birds, believe me 😉). He's a brave boy and he's a brave man fighting for himself. He's a man showing Teague and guys like this "Fuck you, I am who I am, I do what I want".

So, "Sparrow" stays 😉 And James is totally okay with that. James is even like "Jack Norrington. Nice but naaah. Oh dear, marry me ASAP but you're Sparrow forever and you know it".

Now James. Not that James Sparrow sounds bad, no! Well, it would be quite cute to have Sparrows on the seven seas - I can even imagine pirate family calling them fucking lovebirds and joking that they made Pearl their nest (oh, Hector! 😂). But as I said, Sparrow is so much Jack's that formally it's still his. There's still one famous pirate known as Sparrow. But it doesn't mean that Jack wouldn't share something dear to him with his beloved Jamie. And I think they both are okay when people sometimes call them (as a couple) Sparrows or Norringtons (yeah, Jack hated this family but now Norrington means only James, only love). Or Sparrow-Norringtons.

And, you know, I really want James to be still Norrington. Because... Gosh, he deserves so much to heal from his past and from his family's ghost. He deserves to understand that he's The Change. He's a ray of hope. He's a free man now who can clean Norrington name. He's the one who can make this name friendly. Not only to his pirates but also friendly to himself. I don't want him to feel old shame. To feel his father's toxic breath.

James proved he's not Lawrence 2.0. James proved there's a good spirit in the cursed family. He's the good one. The one who finally understood. The one with a heart. Lawrence may say "You are such a disgrace" but James should see that the true disgrace is named Lawrence. Lawrence may say "You've always been so weak. Always not like me. Not like Fitzwilliam. Not like...". And James deserves to show them how strong he is and how weak THEY are.

I want him to make Norrington name something new, something good. I want him to make Norrington HIS name. I want people to hear "Norrington" and say "Aye, our James" and never "Oh yes, old admiral Lawrence...". I want him to work for it. And to be proud he's The Decent Norrington.

(and Jack is sooo proud of him! that's his Jamie! that's that boy he was rooting for so much!)

And of course I want all Norrington-Dalton family to hear every day about a very fine and very skilled and very respected PIRATE NORRINGTON 😈 (and his very PIRATE and very much BELOVED husband captain SPARROW 😈). Who knows, maybe that would kill them all? 😂 ("Norrington. A pirate..." *heart attack*).

So ! My ocs. I guess I'll do an overall explainer for the overall groups. If you check out my Toyhouse (LINK!) there's a bunch of folders up top that are how I categorise them. It's primarily by universe except for the folders that are just "misc."

So folder 1: Blatant favouritism:

These are silly little guys that don't fit in any specific wider universe, but I really really like. So I'll spotlight the two important ones before i get real in the weeds with my main universe.

In here are notably, my Fursona (self explanatory), Ali and Pittsburgh Cincinnati. There's also Hauntkit and Clearpelt who are warriorcats ocs that *is dragged away by airport security*

... So, Pittsburgh, lovingly sometimes called pissbug, is a weird little Thing who I made as like, an homage to characters like happy bunny and Sweetypuss. She (and her weird dog) exist to stand next to strange and offputting captions. I love her. No further context. She's just silly. and violent.

Now. Ali.

Ali Alighieri has thoroughly stolen the show, and also ties into the next folder along, Making Your MK.

With over a hundred extra images compared to second place (Sorry, Tabitha). Ali is my fucked up little scrunkly. My little baby guy. They're a shared character of mine and @samhainian's, and is from their Creature Feature setting (A modern fantasy setting wherein Cryptids and Magic are real but in our modern world.) They are as such, a modern human young adult... Who is also a demon + magic user.

Strange little pansexual altersex genderqueer poetry-nerd that they are... The modern setting also means they are literally just a tumblr user. A fellow countryman, so to speak.

HOWEVER.... Ali's true origin was in *Purrgatorio*, a scrapped visual novel of mine set in the MYMK universe! They were simply retrofitted into CF as the joke with Purrgatorio was that a regular human had mysteriously just shown up in MYMK's pure-furry setting.... And then when we scrapped the project we got all attatched to our little not-so-blank-slate protagonist. But I'll put a pin in Purrgatorio for later.

Making Your MK.

Okay so here's the big one. The setting with.... (looks at spreadsheet) 109 characters not including so-called incidentals. At time of writing.

MYMK is home to... Multiple stories. As you would hope when a setting has 100+ characters. I'd wager each story has about 10-20 relevant characters tops but with a big shared universe like this there gets to be overlap between casts!!! Yay !!! 😊😊😊

MYMK is the name of the main story in the setting. Pronounced "Making your Mark", it is centered around Markus Felidae (The purple one) and their family. It's very action-adventure-y. It's also the plot I'm most secretive about the backend of since I WILL!!!!! Turn it into a nice prose story with pictures SOMEDAY!!!!! But for now tee hee hee secrets secrets. Markus' family is strange and ragtag and is keeping something from them... I can't ramble on too long here unless further prompted in asks about specifics but!!! Everyone in the MYMK folder has a fully furbished little profile with a blurb about them. So if you're curious....

But yeah, I tend to think of the MYMK setting more in terms of its Locations than its Casts, due to the overlapping nature of them all. The Malbranche may be the villains of the main plot, but they're also major players in relation to The Palsgrave who are the antagonists of Moraine, etc etc,

The country everything in MYMK is set in is called New Orphidian, Southern hemisphere little thing, here's a very cartoony map of it.

Cliffside is situated on a big ol' Cliff.

A tiny hamlet of a place, it used to have reason to exist, and now does not. It's not even a good tourist locale, as the cliff is much too dangerous compared to the nicer tourist spot of Welkin just a little north. Not to mention nearby Moraine's allure as a tax haven with no labour laws place where a bunch of TV and Movies are filmed!

It's where most of MYMK's main cast reside (except the antagonists from the Big City Varmonte), and is as such a location I have a lot of tiny little worldbuilding thoughts about :)

I won't go into the other locations here just because then this post will SUPER get away from me but... I think most importantly for Cliffside right now...

Is that it's where Purrgatorio is set. Yes, that VN I said got scrapped. It's not dead. It is in fact serving it's original intended purpose as "A (mostly) noncanon exploration of character voice and setting"

It's back and its prose babeyyyyyyy!!! (A BUNCH OF THE EARLY STUFF IS ME BEING SUPER RUSTY ... BE WARNED)

Purrgatorio is currently the most publicly available coherent work I have out of my ocs! It's very low-stakes and serves mostly to bash my toys together and see what character dynamics come out, but you can look if you want to!

(There's also a whole THING on the meta of its Canonicity... It's not canon, but it's also not NOT canon. But if I talk about Metanarrative Timeline Collapse in my normal mundane non-magic setting im gonna sound bonkers ✌)

Ali's dynamics with the MYMK cast are so goddamn funny to me. Like I literally just handed my OCs some ET shit but ET is a sexually repressed tumblr user with a mood disorder.

But yeah I don't think I can coherently string together much more about MYMK without just actually explaining THE WHOLE PLOT.... Though I will absolutely elaborate on any given character's Whole Deal if i'm prompted. (OH MY GOD I DIDNT EVEN TALK ABOUT CHROME AND TABITHA. WAIT. OKAY THERE'S. OK NO IF I TALKED ABOUT THEM IT'D JUST END UP AN ESSAY ,SORRY..)

and Monster of the Week... Is currently being revamped! It used to be a modern world setting with hidden magic, now it's going to be more... Adventure Time-y. Fantasy world get iphone. Yknow. It has a lower Age Rating than MYMK's "anything goes", as it started as a Pitch Bible Project in my animation class. They're a little neglected but I still love them :) The revamp is extemely recent and not reflected in any of the art/writing yet but I'm workin on it. It still doesn't have a proper title..... OTL

So yeah!! Uh. This wasn't as comprehensive as I was hoping but it turns out I have way, WAY too many thoughts on my guys. And no idea what to do when im actually asked about them so !!!! This was not a very coherent ramble but it was a ramble !

There's things like essays on Chrome and Tabitha (Link) and also The Queer Gender Identities Of The Whole Cast (Link) hiding around on my toyhouse, and once again, Purrgatorio (Link) serves as my sandbox for playing with how these characters act in situations.

But..... ! I did try to make my toyhouse approachable for the average layman. Every character in the MYMK folder (Link) has a *blurb* of information, rather than a giant wall of text explaining everything about them. I want people to be able to understand their general vibe at a glance rather than be overwhelmed.

In any case ???? Uh. Fun game for everyone: If you know your homestuck classpect, every single MYMK character has a classpect and lunar sway. and a birthday. Try and find your andrew-hussie assigned kin! As a Prospitian Witch of Heart, I share my classpect and lunar sway with Chrome. No I don't know what this means. It worries me honestly he's kind of an asshole.

imagine little ducklings following him in a neat little line!! (since iirc tartaglia in cn is close to the word duck). the little escapades you could get into from trying to stop them from following him, the ducklings nipping at his wings to stop him from leaving them and of course his soft heart won't be able to even think of leaving these little guys. just an adventure of trying to find mama duck around Liyue, taking naps in his fluff when the ducklings are too tuckered out!!! (imagine their little butts sticking out his fluff as he purrs), maybe go on a swim too, tho probably stand back when they're all soggy and shaking off the water

small yellow fluffy babies getting led by a bigger, fluffier, sparkly baby (at heart) and the noise! the cutest chorus of noises from both FL and the ducklings 🥹

okay okay small story this place near-ish to where i live sells gardening equipment and in the springtime they get live chicks so people can raise them into chickens and ahhhh they're so cute!!!!!

all the ducks can fit in his hands, no questions asked. he kneels and holds out his claws and the ducks all pile on, much to your amusement and slight dismay- where was their mother? there's no way you and Legacy can take care of all the ducklings, neither of you are nearly qualified enough! yet the tiny fledglings seem quite content in his grasp, and Legacy purrs at them contently as they quack, looking from you to the ducklings and back again pleadingly. with a sigh you relent and nod, met with a chorus of happy chirps and quacks from Legacy and your new little friends- of course, you make Legacy promise to help you find the ducks' mother, and to look after them while you're gone at work. he chitters in agreement, a few ducks already nesting in his fluff, and you can't help but smile at the adorable scene

taking care of the ducklings actually goes smoother than you expected, with Foul Legacy taking care of them when you're gone and everyone waiting to greet you in the evening. the little birds get into the habit of following Legacy in a single file line, having conversations of trills and quacks as they putter around the house. or if they get tired, the ducks bury themselves in his hair and fluff for a quick nap, as soft as the nest they're used to. and finally, after a few weeks of searching, you come across a distressed mother duck looking for her babies- it's actually one of the ducklings that alerts you, the one that likes sleeping in your pocket, quacking and squirming until you set it down and it waddles over to its relieved mother. you're both sad to see them go, Legacy letting out a low whine and pouting as he watches his little friends trot away into the water to follow their mom, and you give him a gentle squeeze of reassurance

but a few days later you find a collection of ducks standing outside your door, the mother gracefully herding her little ones along- seems the babies wanted to visit :)

Hi! Happy belated birthday! I was wondering how close you think we are to a reunion…

Karlie has been around solo quite a bit lately and all her posts are professional or include only the boys and Josh has deleted his latest post that featured her on the beach. On the other hand, Taylor missed a game, we have the whole PR relationship expiry date made public and I can’t shake the idea that it was his doing trying to delay the break up. I am sure she will find a way to get a rid of him.

Do you think the idea is: the reunited at the wedding, talked and became acquaintances again and after both became single… they are besties again?

i’ve been shelving my thoughts on when a reunion will be and chalking it up to the lotto ticket numbers by saying that nothing’s gonna kick off until after 10/18/2025, but in general i think if they’re reuniting that they’ve been building up the idea that they’ve been in touch behind the scenes.

hmm.. hmmm.. you know, hmmm… so based on how you worded your ask, i think it’s worth mentioning that for me, i don’t think them both single is a predicate to their reuniting. maybe saying this is still a wild take im not sure but, it’s just not the way i have assessed things. it’s not how i see things. and even if this ends up being the case, i guess i worry about people assuming there’s going to be some big vanquishing. i don’t think that’s a given. i just think that we have been put on notice by taylor and so ive tried my best to adjust the way i’ve thought about things because of it. but who knows. we’ll have to see.

and, if i may… i would recommend to not look too deep into instagram activity for signs that things are happening. this goes for everyone’s instagram activity. just because, little things like that have happened here and there over the past six years on many different peoples instagrams and yet, six years have passed without the change people have look for. maybe one day things will happen and there will have been breadcrumbs but i think that preemptively looking into things in this way is a bit of a wild goose chase. at the very least, it’s been a wild goose chase for going on six years. so just be aware of those statistics.

Hi! I’ve recently visited your page again, after a longer tumblr break and saw your posts about people’s comments on your fics. It made me both sad and angry. Sad because they’ve managed to take away your joy for writing Supercorp and angry that people feel like they can type out any hurtful thought that goes through their head, for a thing that is absolutely free and made with so much passion and care. 😒🤬

For what it’s worth, I always loved the way you write both of them. ahh thank you so much, i appreciate this. i have to say, sc still has me by the neck, i do plan to finish that fic & maybe write some more but it won't be anytime soon. i had hoped that the fandom would calm down with the kara hate after the show ended but i was wrong, it still hasn't changed.

when you've been writing for sc for so long, the frustration builds up, & there have been many times where i felt like i needed to (& did) restrict myself when writing them. it stops being enjoyable when people are constantly calling kara 'stupid' & insult her in many different ways for not being the happy sunshine kara danvers who takes care of lena all the time.

personally i love reading & writing the reverse situation (lena who's being the patient loving one & also the shoulder for kara to lean on) because the show didn't give us enough of that. unfortunately, people don't respond well whenever kara is struggling with her issues & lena isn't the one who's being comforted.

i write what i like & that's what i'm always going to do, but this build up of frustration over the past years & always anticipating kara hate every fic/chapter killed the joy a lot.

i've seen some authors speak about this too & it's genuinely sad to see! people can like & dislike whatever but it's important to note that there are readers out there who don't realize that their personal feelings against kara also affect authors & their love for writing supercorp

aki kind of navigates the world worried his loved ones will leave him and is a little too clingy because of it. he also has been playing those worries off by being charming, flirty and funny. like he can somehow project this hyper-extrovered version of himself and try to make people love that !!! he drops that more around his bandmates/friends, but not in front of people he's just met (please guess who accidentally escalated the bed fight on the tour bus)

aki also hooks up with people a lot, just cause he likes sex but also because he enjoys the no-strings-attached. because of those attachment issues, when he gets something that feels black and white to him, something one-and-done and he leaves in the morning, he can just. take feelings out the equation. he knows its not meant to last so he can just walk out (leave! hit da bricks!!! walk out!!!!!)

committing to a romantic relationship . you can imagine. is a little complicated due to all this LMFAO he just overthinks and worries before even getting into it, regardless of if it's reciprocated or not. between the one time he's actually into someone (seven) and how that ended (...badly) + the fact that deliriously avoiding commiting to anything except hookups = very little (none at all) actual dating experience. aki has no idea to deal with it and will balk. yeah this is immature of him but i have plans to make this guy character develop so hard throughout the course of infamous that he may implode

i love the genre of character where they're just going "i know i have a few issues, who doesn't, but honestly i think i'm well adjusted!!" <- they are not well adjusted. in fact they're worse than they think

Kovu's coat is clipped short to make it manageable for me. This has taught me two things:

1. Haircuts are always an option, and are underutilized in breeds with coats that are difficult to maintain. Especially in communities that are weird about haircuts.

2. Haircuts are maintenance, and the physical/emotional/financial cost to maintain them is different for everyone. For me, that cost is incredibly high.

I will never regret Kovu, but I didn't know what the compromise of his coat care meant until I lived it. Now I know, and I can tell you with absolute certainty that I will never get a dog with grooming needs this high or higher again.

Re: red tv and the manuscript discourse, I wonder if people realize that it is actually possible to have abusive/toxic/harmful relationships with people your own age, too? Like even if Taylor and jg were 2 years apart, harm still could’ve occurred….? Like it was obviously not grooming bc that is a very specific set of experiences usually involving a child and a person in a position of trust/power like a parent or teacher or coach etc (I know this bc I lived it!!!). But like… that is not the only kind of harm that can happen to young people???? Her youth/naivety was definitely a factor in how fucked up the situation was but it was not the only element. Power dynamics do not begin and end at age. Adults can fuck each other up, too…
