Hii Dori!! Just finished the new update and I have to say, I'm so excited to see what else is to come!! The banter in the carriage was hillarious as always (lmao at Watson bringing out his inner Mr Collins with the mention of Fordyce's sermons). I did have a bit of a lore/worldbuilding question though. If it's not too spoilery to ask, I wonder if you might elaborate more on what Hamish/Helena's family background is, and if there's any difference between the two?? I just found it interesting that Hamish's full title is stylized in game as Sir Hamish Hawthorne and Helena's as Lady Helena Hawthorne. The title "Lady", plus the fact that Helena is referred to as Lady Hawthorne and not Lady Helena suggests to me that this is a substantive title and not a courtesy one (I'm also assuming she's never married), making her possibly a baroness (because if she was a viscountess or higher, her title would probably be stylized differently in written communication, whereas I think I remember reading that it's not uncommon for barons/baronesses to just use the title lord/lady even in formal communication). The "sir" though suggests a knight or a baronet, which interestingly makes Hamish and Helena holders of different ranks. I also found it interesting that Hamish's title is stylized as "Sir Hawthorne" and not "Sir Hamish", as is typical of knights and baronets, which makes me wonder if in fact the word "sir" here is being used as the in-game equivalent to "lord", which would put Hamish and Helena back on even ground once more. Am I missing something? Am I reading too much into it?? Of course, this isn't a criticism of the writing on your part - This is set in a fictional Victorian England, so I actually think you should be free to depart from convention as you please. I just found the departures interesting, is all, and would love to know more! This is assuming of course, that my knowledge of convention is accurate and not outdated (admittedly, I'm somewhat more familiar with the earlier parts of the 19th century than I am with the latter parts). Anyway, hope you're having a pleasant day!!

Yes, so what I can say, is that Hamish is a Baronet! The choice of doing (title) last name was more so I can later bring more and more closer naming with each step mc and then get closer. Title lastname -> lastname first name -> first name. Or some combination there 🥰

Now… Helena’s title and situation is a little more complex and for spoiler reasons I can’t discuss it yet… 🫣

But, I had that for a while in the beginning, and it didn’t really work that well, for a few reasons. But the next update (the one currently on patreon) comes with the opportunity to clear the romance points with all ROs not in the carriage with you 🥰

Aaaaaaaaah why didn't anyone tell me that white roses route H is a menace? Decided to play from the beginning with a more demure Sherlock for chapter 6 and ????????????????????? I'm in love?????????????????????? I hadn't been able to settle on one RO yet because they're all scrumptious but yeah, sorry to break your heart Watson :( It's even more fun bc my Sherlock is bold with everyone except for H. I can't stop thinking about them, you're a brilliant writer

Negative romance route H and simp H are practically different characters. Both have their pros and cons, but I won't pretend Simp H isn't a lot more popular, especially with the new scenes.

The bar scene w/ Lestrade has to be my favorite scene so far. My jaw physically dropped when I read how he called out my Sherlock for being an alcoholic I sat there like 😧 it’s just so painful and so so good- “How’s your memory these days? Hazy? I bet. “ I was gobsmacked

I feel a little bad.

But it’s for the greater good.

Tbh the… the argument was never meant to be that bad. And L was supposed to be able to decently offer apologies at the scene and mc be able to forgive.

But then I wrote it…

And then my alpha reader (hi Bag) said my mild insults were pathetic. And so I… did some worse ones…

And then I realised that if they were worse, and all MCs felt it (atleast a little), the scene actually served greater story purpose.

And Lestrade’s romance had greater drama potential. Now L had to be the one to put in the work.

And… I liked that. And I still do.

Now what remains to be seen is if enough players and MCs are swayed by Lestrade’s attempts at reparations.

He would not be entirely wrong. You could make some decent assessments yourself... Sizing isn't the hardest guesstimate in your repertoire.

Although, you had, at times, stopped yourself from calculating such things.

Not always better to know it all... Has Sherlock figured out the measurements of other things... in the past.

Will the other ROs do anything like what L did? Like will the others end up saying something mean or something that can make Sherlock cry like that?

Hmmm 🤔 that’s a little tricky to answer.

Could the ROs make mc cry in the future?

Yes. (Optional to cry).

Will all ROs in some way hurt mc… 🤔😅 I was gonna say no, but it might be yes, depending on how you interpret ”hurt”. MC might hurt them too.

But I wouldn’t say any RO will have a very similar scene as Lestrade’s scene at the bar.

But there are potentially explosive scenes in the future. And sometimes mc is the explosive one. And sometimes there will be sad scenes. Or angsty ones.
