cregan’s issue is the same as corlys which is ya kno never seeing his girl heir as an heir period. so just like corlys brings marilda’s boys to rhaenyra to legitimize instead of pushing for baela or rhaena to inherit, cregan decides to remarry for a THIRD time even though he has a granddaughter and SEVERAL daughters who could inherit. they’re perfectly happy to bow to a woman when it’s convenient, when it fits into their own honor codes and benefits them, but when it comes to their own families, their own legacy, only a man is good enough. when it comes to the it it’s like - aegon the younger has BEEN heir, and was already named the next king by the time cregan gets there, BY corlys, who goes along with the green style inheritance of saying aegon iii is aegon ii’s successor through daemon’s line, likely imo bc he just wants the war to stop and thinks getting rhaenyra’s last son on the throne is good enough (bc he doesn’t get it!! it’s why he pushes rhaenyra to name men over women with better claims during the dance; he’s not about disrupting the system, he only supports rhaenyra bc it benefits him!).

baela isn’t being denied the crown because not a single person including baela herself thinks she’s a viable contender and that’s the result of aegon ii being the last monarch & adult targaryen alive in the capital, and not anything cregan or to some extent, corlys, does; jaehaerys’ ideology is what the greens are fighting for and jaehaerys’ ideology is what wins and the person to blame for both jaehaera & baela not being viable contenders for the throne is aegon ii himself. but jeyne arryn is right there!! too bad it doesn’t matter, bc in a situation where cregan and corlys actually do have the power to go “i have the ability to just support my girl heir” they choose a boy. it’s just like cat says it’s just like borros lord misogynist himself says - a daughter is nice but ahhh a son. a son is more important!

HorrorDust with a height difference is my favorite, even if it's not that much.

Imagining Horror being outraged at how Dust, being smaller than him, has so much strength is just hilarious because Horror would expect to take down the little demon only to get his ass kicked (and not to mention that Dust has a lot of raw power when it comes to magic too).

Horror doesn't like cheaters, neither does Dust or Killer I'd say, but Horror takes it personally you know?

I've also thought about how Dust uses Horror and Killer as lab rats (self-destructive tendencies need an edge besides feeding Nightmare) so he gets away with it.

Dust does things like that because living has become so meaningless since he was ripped from his timeline. Killer needs constant stimulation, even if he doesn't feel anything properly speaking, he's the one who reacts best to change and lends himself to Dust's crazy science antics.

Horror not so much, because I still think he would try to push some moral compass on the other two and the resentment would be there for a long time until the three of them can be on good terms. It doesn't help that Killer doesn't treat them like living beings. You know, he does what he wants because he can, but being the favorite has its downsides and even more so if it's a creature as twisted as Nightmare.

Like, if Killer wanted to see Dust and Horror's souls they don't really have a choice and it almost seems like Killer and Nightmare aren't that different from each other. All these questions and lines of thought are curious to sit down and think about when I want to talk about Killer, Horror and Dust and I would like to see it in fandom works hehe.

I think I've talked a lot, excuse the messy post, it's just a thought I wanted to share with you all.

Got a really bad migraine today, it's been a while since I got one this bad, I think. I keep forgetting to make a journal of every time I get one so I can figure out if there's certain triggers, but anyway, it's sort of gone now but I still feel the left side of my head like pulsing with pain it's just not as bad as earlier.

I have cooling patches I use when I don't want to tie a bandana slathered in vaporub around my head, but I'm considering getting a cooling cap for migraines, I'm just not sure if they'd be better than the cooling patches I already have

Nightkin specifically refers to any civilised and nocturnal creatures that spread via transmitting blood to another host. Some things to note are

Nightkin traits can be passed down via reproduction, but if the child is of one Nightkin and one Daykin parent, the Nightkin genes are recessive.

There are no half-day half-night kin, you can be half one kind of Nightkin and half one of another kin. Like a werewolf vampire.

it's not just vampires, and werewolves. Theres bugs, fish, hell even armadillo kin. And theres even Kin that don't draw from animalistic traits.

The majority of Nightkin Clans practise some sort of familial relationships within their clan.

transmitting being a nightkin to another person or animal is done with consent, as doing it without consent is a social taboo.

different kinds of kin have different diets, they're not all hungering for brains or intelligent blood.

A persons perceived rank in a Nightkin clan is linked to how much blood of the progenitor they have, with more dilute blood making you be perceived as of a lower "generation" or "rank" to those with more concentrated blood of the progenitor.

when all members of the highest generation die, the blood of all generations below will become more concentrated, enough to be seen as them "ranking up a generation". This ensures that there will always be a First generation and that the blood will never become so diluted as for the Kin to change or go extinct completely unless all members of the clan are wiped out. However the blood of the first generation will forever be more dilute than the Progenitor or the 0 generation as they are sometimes called.

Nature is weird and it is to be expected that there are kinds of Kin who break these rules entirely but still classify as Nightkin because nothing can break the age old rule of "Y'know it when you see it"

Small ramble: I get it's said to help show you're not unsafe, but when someone says "what all men really want" to a picture of a guy and girl cuddling, it just annoys me. Sure, most people want connection but some people hate touch or aren't into women. I get it's a joke title but it also pushes this idea that like, liking rough sex is bad, or somehow less natural than any sex. Like, nah, if you personally don't have any intimate feelings about sex and just like it for the sheer pleasure, that's perfectly fine! You don't need to be secretly craving gentle sex or anything, you can like rough sex only as long as your sexual partners consent

i've been in fandoms for the better part of my life, i started with young adult books and, trust me, ten~ years ago those spaces were A BATTLEFIELD. but still, i never EVER encountered this level of pretentiousness and MY SHIP IS BETTER THAN YOURS energy. this is the first time i fell out of love with something only and only because of the fanbase and that "#they don't understand characters like WE DO!!!" fuckery.

understanding in question: chrollo obsessed with kurapika, kurapika in love with chrollo. ooc, ooc, ooc, and more OOC. did you know that leorio is ugly? OOC kurapika the housewife, chrollo cosplaying tserriednich (or hisoka because his "obsession" is uncanny-valley similar to what hisoka had towards chrollo in canon), more ooc.

nothing but obnoxious behavior toward other people, a superiority complex and the most overused cliches you can easily find in the dark romance section of the bookstore.

p.s.: is it the ship's fault that the fanbase is awful? no. are there talented people writing and drawing krkr? yes. but this bunch is the loudest.

just had a fucking realization. i named the primary location where the AU happens, "Telestrata". i was thinking to myself, "ok so it's 'tele' as in 'far', and 'strata' as in 'stratum', to represent the distant and vertical layout of the region".

and i just now. right this minute. remembered that Aventurine's full title is "Aventurine of Stratagems" and i don't know what i'm supposed to do with this. this is a genuine coincidence but it's also forcing me to think about the implications!! and i HATE thinking!!
