Any good nurturing heroes towards the heroine you recommend in HR?

I defined "nurture" pretty broadly but here we are:

Glory and the Master of Shadows by Grace Callaway: The hero Wei is Glory's shifu (teacher) so he literally does, uh, nurture her talents before they get together. He's also genuinely so kind and patient and a GREAT teacher and that's so hot of him, I think.

When a Duke Loves a Woman by Lorraine Heath: Thornley helps Gillie serve patrons at her tavern and then HE BATHES HER and I don't say this very often, but that's such a romantic ideal.

Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas: I joke a lot about Gabriel St. Vincent (Gabriel Challon ik ik) trying really hard to be daddy but real talk, he does provide a safe, judgement-free space for Pandora, who has never really known a healthy family dynamic until relatively recently, was brought up super isolated, and is also likely on the spectrum and a lot of other people dismiss her because of it. So all things considered, some of his less impactful lines like "have you been a good girl today" can be forgiven.

Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean: Ralston is genuinely so supportive of Callie's quest to discover herself by doing "scandalous" things without being condescending, and he's just suuuuper obsessed with her which I appreciate.

The Lady Gets Lucky by Joanna Shupe: I feel like Kit really brought out Alice's confidence during the course of their flirting/sex lessons and he unwittingly gives kinda great pep talks.

Wayward One by Lorelie Brown: Nurturing from afar....? Basically, Sera finds out that the mysterious benefactor who paid for ten years of schooling and ensured she would want for nothing is a crime lord of the London underworld.... who intends to marry her.

Take Me Home by Lorelie Brown

This is more of a Thanksgiving Romance, although there is a Christmas scene. But if you are at all into holiday romances, you should give this one a shot. 

Kayliegh wants to bring a girl to dinner to shock and upset her conservative, fundamentalist aunt. She finds her via Craigslist and the pink haired, tattooed Brooke could not be more perfect for her plans. Except they are immediately attracted to each other and a funny flirtation turns into something else!

The family dynamics are funny and infuriating, by turns. The flirtation between Brooke and Kayliegh is charming and when the relationship turns steamy, it is off-the-charts hot. For a novella, there is good character building and relationship development. Sure, things happen fast, but it was believable. Plus there are cute dogs! Just go read it. 4 stars.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 I truly was worried about how this would end, but not anymore! It ends quite wonderfully and tugged at my heart strings. When first starting on this read, I wasn't really sure about Rachel, meaning I wasn't sure if I liked her, but Pari right off the bat I adored. Really great little book that shows you the world through the eyes of a relapsing anorexic young lady who wishes desperately to love and be loved in return, but has no idea how, and with her feeling as though her life is turning upside down, she takes control where she can, through how much she eats and drinks. It was heartbreaking to read at certain points, but Rachel was strong, and never gave up, and even though she is simply a fictional character, I am happy for her and for women irl all around the world who conquer their inner demons. That aside, the only problem I had with this entire book was really just the mention of demisexual, which if you look up, is not a sexuality but a common trait found in practically all humans. That was a miner issue but I had to put it out there; anyways, adored the book and I just might read more by this author.

minor spoilers for FAR FROM HOME currently HALF OFF at Riptide Publishing :O (this seems like an ad but i was just glad i only had to pay half hooray pride month)

 Far From Home by Lorelie Brown is really good? like. Really good. Wow. uh. It was some good stuff.

So basically it’s actually. There’s some really good lines. Funny lines, and also descriptions of feelings? good good melty somehow innovative words. The end had my heart bursting with JOY. the distance closed so naturally, from the facade of marriage of convenience to the EMOTIONAL BUILDUP AND CLIMAX

The push pull between Rachel and Pari is very realistic. and also very warm. it was fascinating because the chemistry was sizzling but also because the main character (Rachel) is anorexic and also her mom was a total an absolute abusive neglectful DICK and all these issues interacted in some really interesting self-aware emotional ways and also she’s DEMISEXUAL and wow intersting hm hm so that’s how you feel when you’re demisexual HOW FAMILIAR....alright......HA..hA also Rachel’s and Pari’s communication was superb actually (it was funny though bc I was like....while Rachel was thinking: so THIS is what other people feel when having sex they weren’t exaggerating/lying? while she was having SUPER AWESOME SEX i was like....hmm...ok but isn’t this book just SLIGHTLY exaggerating/lying tho LOL)

The mental image I had of Pari vacillated between Symmetra and Kala from Sense8....but got more Pari-detailed and Pari-distinguished as I read on so. It was fine but I need to watch more Bollywood because damn apparently I don’t have ‘generic indian looking dark-skinned dark-haired woman’ stored like i do ‘generic blonde white-skinned woman’? i am not a visual reader

Also all the indian cultural stuff seemed very realistic and gave a really nice texture to everything. And also the californinian american cultural stuff. I’m knowledgeable about neither.

Also the uh....sex scenes were......very....hmmm......they were quite good. I mean.....kinda ‘crude’ in dialogue but it was refreshing? And Rachel in a throwaway thought wants Pari’s heels on her back and I was like OK THEN, the message is CLEAR, the pain comment, and the ...the whole sex scene i guesss (which was ..good).....it’s CLEAR book I GEDDIT NOW cool cool cool (cool) (very cool)

I didn’t REALISE, I was like, but she’s been eating right?? She’s been trying to follow healthy thought patterns right? She enjoyed eating right?? or did that fall away? I mean....IT DID, she started skipping so much food!!! and the bad habitS!! :O :O

What book was that? What other WLW books have you read? If you don't mind me asking!

nah, i don’t mind!! the one i mentioned is called breaking down her walls by erin zak. basically city girl driving with no destination. car breaks down in small colardo town. doesn’t have enough money to fix it. some guy says they need help at a ranch. she has no other choice really so she goes. the owner of the ranch is a woman named elena. she seems very strict and stubborn and generally unpleasant. city girl is learning how to work with horses and dealing with the aspect of being a ranch hand. they start to fall for each other but they both hold up pretty steep walls around their hearts so yeah.  

i’ve also read the sex therapist next door by meghan o'brien (that one is very smutty tho fyi) but it’s about a sex therapist who’s neighbors with a woman who is kinda known to have women in and out of her apartment. but the therapist does these live demonstration workshops for queer women to learn how to be more intimate w their partners and what not and her partner she usually does them with gets hurt so she asks her neighbor to fill in.... the neighbor has a crush on the therapist neighbor. therapist neighbor has been really tough walls. etc. 

not since you by fiona riley. this one is about a woman who’s supposed to be on her honeymoon cruise (during lesbian cruise week lmAO) only she goes alone because her ex-fiance was cheating on her and it’s this whole thing but bc they were honeymooners they get a VIP attendant and who is this VIP attendant?? an old girlfriend that is also her high school love. now they’re trapped on a cruise ship together and yep. 

far from home by lorelie brown. this one’s about a woman who needs a visa to stay in the us and another woman who is struggling with her student loans and paying rent and what not. they set up an arrangement to get married but the student loans girl who swears shes straight, starts to fall for the other when they move in together. this one does have a subplot of anorexia tho so be cautious of that if it’s triggering to you. 

unexpected partners by michelle larkin. so basically this one woman gets abducted by a serial killer and is left for dead but survives somehow and now there’s good evidence that the killer is coming back to finish what he started because he’s never left a victim alive before. she works for the police department as a behavior analyst and then there’s another woman who’s a detective. the detective’s ex-fiance was actually killed by the same serial killer. she’s assigned to protect the other woman. they start to fall for each other.  these are the ones i’ve read so far this year. i’m picking up a couple more when i go to work later.
