MC and her lore - Introduction Post

I'd say she filled out this spreadsheet in the beginning of her sixth year, but her creator added a few notes, knowing some things about her past and future 🤭 (±900 words below).

✧ She knows nothing about her origin but wouldn’t even mention it unless you’re really, really close.

At the age of three, she was adopted by the Salters, a wealthy family living at Norfolk near the sea: Mr Salters (ship doctor) and Mrs Salters (a dressmaker). The couple already had two boys and longed for a third child for many years. After countless debates, Mrs Salters finally convinced her husband to adopt a girl. As someone who worked with colours a lot, Mrs Salters was captivated by the girl’s striking amber eyes and came up with the name Amberlyn ✨ And years later, not expecting this at all, Mrs Salters became pregnant again and gave birth to another daughter, to her and her husband's great joy.

✧ She is okay with people using her full name but prefers the short form.

✧ Her Patronus is now incorporeal. However, in the future, it will take the form of a seagull.

Some associations were: finding opportunities among obstacles, being quick-witted and flexible, and having a love for adventure and travel. Balance of independence with a connection to those around. Also, emotionally, Alyn’s deeply connected to the seaside and everything that comes with it, especially the birds she always loved to observe. Yes, she even likes their shrill screeches.

✧ She doesn’t have any pets now, but eventually, she will own a small owl named Titan (after Saturn’s largest moon).

Due to some unfortunate events (involving the Ministry using Veritaserum on her), she had to give away all the creatures from her vivariums. She still feels a deep sense of sorrow and guilt over it.

✧ She doodles when deep in thought, often sketching magical creatures and plants. However, portraits are disasters for her—she just can’t get them right.

Sometimes, during class, Ominis’ notes fall victim to her doodles of mandrakes, puffskeins, and other stuff. Though he’s asked her to stop, he’ll secretly keep those pieces of parchment forever.

✧ Dreams of life being back to normal asap and considers transforming that ominous shop in Hogsmeade into a charming café filled with coffee, sweets, and cute little trinkets. Even thinks of becoming an artist who can create magical pictures like the ones she admires at Hogwarts.

Sure, all of that could happen, but she might also end up teaching young wizards pre-Hogwarts: giving them a basic understanding of magic, plants, beasts, and some history (recalling how Professor Fig helped her, this would feel especially meaningful to her).

At the muggle boarding school she attended, they had lessons in music, sewing, and other common subjects, but her favourite was always art, of course. Also, she enjoys listening to instruments and even still remembers a few piano melodies, though she struggles to play full compositions, because of >attention issues< speaking of which…

✧ She loves Potions, though it's challenging to make ones that take a long time to brew—sure, she mastered a perfect Wiggenweld. She also enjoys Garreth’s experiments, especially when they don’t involve her stealing or drinking anything. And she absolutely adores Charms, believing they are the greatest art form in the magical world. ✧ Astronomy fascinates her because she never imagined so many wonders existed above in the sky. She loves charting the stars, and it's remarkably the only activity that keeps her fully engaged for hours without getting distracted. ✧ She hates Flying lessons but absolutely loves the thrill of speed flying over the Highlands. As for Aritmancy, well, >attention issues< and Divination-like vibes make it a nightmare for her.

She doesn’t hate History of Magic—it’s the perfect time for a midday nap. And having Ominis fall asleep beside her just makes it even better.

She's also good with some other healing potions and ointments, which were very helpful with her injuries after the battle with Ranrok. She still bears scars on her left hand, ribs, and leg, and her left hand is now slightly weakened, contributing to her newfound issues with spells and ancient magic (and other activities, such as her wish to ever try Quidditch or even play some music again).

✧ More Salters Family Details (the most important note—she hasn’t had any interactions with them since the end of her fifth year. She was barred from any contact with muggles while the investigation into her magic is still underway.) ✦ Home - a large "Foxglove house" on a hill with a beautiful garden next to it. A few staff members to look after the house and the children. ✦ Mom - a warm and kind relationship, but Mrs Salters was always passionate about and busy with her work and, later, with the youngest child as well. ✦ Father - a cold-to-distant relationship. He was rarely home after transitioning from hospital surgeon to ship doctor. It always seemed like he never fully got used to having a child that wasn’t his own. ✦ Arthur - 10 years older, really nice relationship. Alyn wishes she could have more of him in her life, but he moved out years ago. Alyn used to admire Sebastian for being such a great brother to Anne, as it reminded her of Arthur. ✦ Greg - 5 years older, and they've always hated each other, as his favourite thing to say to her is that she’s not really part of their family. ✦ Gwen - 7 years younger, and as the most spoiled child and mommy’s little princess, she’s an absolute nasty little gremlin.

p.s. a sad remark alert as her eyes colour on the pic is not a mistake:

After the end of her fifth year her eyes turned a deep, dark brown, and there were other changes in her appearance. Description from September 1891: "...the warm blonde that once shimmered like sunlight now appeared faded and muted. When she looked in the mirror, she saw a sick and lost reflection, a stark reminder of the damage the last year caused her. She wondered if she would ever truly recover."

Hello! I hope I won't sour your mood with this ask but I have been thinking a lot about your gay dogs this month especially.

I'll just try to keep the context short but in general I'm someone that has accepted being romantically undesireable. It was hard but in the end I have built my life just around me, my humble family and at this point in time I don't even think I have the time for a partner. And considering that it's the love month and a lot of people are preparing to celebrate it with their SOs I assumed that, actually, this is a thing that I sort of have in common with Machete.

From the miscellaneous lore on your profile I see Machete as someone that also has kind of rejected love. That also has built his life around his job, possibly hobbies, his family or mentors (depending if we're talking about canon or modern au). Who kind of forgot that relationships are a thing and that people bond with others in that way. Well, at least he did until meeting Vasco.

I just love thinking about their awkward beginnings. Machete being 100% sure that Vasco is just joking, maybe even sometimes teasing him (in a friendly banter type way) or just explaining to himself that all that kindness and interest is just him being a very considerate friend. And then we have Vasco that just tries to be subtle, as if he was trying to pass a fawn without it noticing and running away, but also with time gains confidence and tries more risque moves. Vasco being all smug and Machete being flustered when their hands or shoulders or tails brush in passing. And then when both are sure of their feelings we have Machete who has to choose between God and his love. Who, at first, unwillingly accepts that divine wrath will be worth their brief love.

I don't know why you thought you might accidentally sour my mood, I'm utterly delighted whenever I hear that someone has been pondering my little guys (rotating them in their head, as they say), and when they go through the trouble of sharing their findings and conclusions I'm so happy I could crawl up a wall.

I think you deciphered Machete's inner workings very well, especially those of the original canon version. The concept of love is of course prominent in Christianity, so even as a kid being raised in a religious environment that discouraged overt displays of affection and close personal bonds, Machete wasn't completely alienated from it. But it has always been a nebulous, unperceivable and unattainable thing for him. When he was old enough to lock down his career choice he readily accepted he'd never have romantic relationships, spouse or a family, and I think he must've been too young and socially inexperienced to think of it as a significant loss. Either he consciously blocked out the need for companionship by studying and working like his life depended on it, or he didn't really consider that being genuinely befriended, appreciated and loved as a person instead of a respectable and competent authority figure was even an option for him, at least not until Vasco came along.

How’s Fields of Mistria? You mentioning it was the second time I heard of it, the first time being in passing, so I’m not too knowledgeable about the game.

Fields of Mistria is SUPER fun, since there's not much to do in it after you've completed the first year right now, I've dedicated myself to breeding and collecting all the seasonal variants of horses so I can name them after the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse!

I also named all my barns after metamorphised lovers in greek myth because I have exactly one thought running through my head at any given point in time (Currently there's Crocus Coop where I keep my (gorgeous wonderful lovely adorable ouugh I LOVE THEMMM!!) blue chickens

Cypress Barn where I keep my wonderful cows (who have been with me the longest and whom I cherish immensely! I'm not sure if Autumn cows are possible but I'm definitely aiming for a barn of all red and autumnal cows for obvious reasons)

Minthe Barn where I keep all of my other large animals like sheep, alpacas and my very first beloved Chiron (black and white) and Iris (brown with spots) (the foal is Rigel) 🥺

And Hyacinthus Barn where I have a collection of small animals like rabbits, capybaras and my PRIZED DUCKS LEDA (the pretty blue and green duckie) AND CYCNUS (the pure white duck meant to mimic a swan!!) Even though it's technically a coop, I mistakenly labelled it a barn when I was inputting the name and I never changed it LOL

My farm is also named after THE metamorphosized lover, Daphne herself, so it's called Laurel Farm

And I'm planning for my Seasonal Horse barn to be named after the poplar since I quite like Leuke's story and I think she's fitting of housing the horses that will be the steeds of War, Pestilence, Conquest and Famine :)

Bonus: My house is still small and eclectically decorated, but keeping in theme with my farm, I do hope to go for a flower/garden theme

Mod recommendation - Passerby Cemetery

I haven't explored very far but this is already a great mod!

Winter nights are so pretty 🌙❄️

If you ever wanted a more creepy feel to your game then this mod is for you. Passerby Cemetery adds a cemetery somewhere in the mountains (with SVE installed it's right by the staircase that leads to the Adventurer Guild).

Everything is so cool! Weird ghosts spawn at night and exploring give you creepy messages like "You can hear something digging beneath you" or "You can hear scratching coming from within" when you inspect graves and crypts.

The characters added by the mods will also hint to something being wrong. For example, I just unlocked the quarry and a kid that has nothing to do with the supernatural just told me that he has some strange feelings about the bridge being repaired. BUT... at some point in the past he also mistook me for something: "Eeek! Sorry, I thought you were... never mind it was just my imagination". What could it be? I can't wait to find out! 😃

The keeper of the cemetery asked me why I repaired the bridge to the quarry considering all the stuff that happened on the other side (???). And at some point he told me he hears the spirit of some dead boy roaming through the cemetery?

I love it! ❤️

made some progress in Tactics Ogre (but not a lot I'm still in ch1 despite clearing multiple maps? wild)--have a better feel for the mechanics, and they aren't so bad to navigate as I first thought.

The "battles and cutscenes ONLY" pacing is wild, like I don't have time to chat with any of the other characters to get a sense for how they feel about shit, which like, I know this is a remaster of a PSP game, and that "getting to chat w/ your units" is a more recent trend in srpgs, but it's still like damn okay, we're just moving right along then (kinda nostalgic feeling though)

honestly really enjoying it a lot so far though. The battle mechanics are fun (similar to TriStrat w/ needing to take weather, elevation, positioning, etc. into account, but SIGNIFICANTLY more forgiving than TriStrat battles which always felt a bit more challenging to me compared to other srpgs I've played); and I'm really enjoying the characters and story so far...although I do wish for like, an in-game atlas or something so I can keep country names and stuff straight (I did remember it was originally a PSP game though, which meant it had to have been released with a physical manual, and lo and behold I did find a PDF of said game manual and it contains a bit of the worldbuilding/setting info I've been very ??? about so, thank goodness for PDFs of old game manuals)

How do people become 'stylists'?

As far as I understand the power of a stylist is inherently tied to a person's "whim", and the strength thereof. If you have enough whim and then the right inspiration you can make sketches for clothes. Any stylist can use these clothes in their magical girl rapid transformations, used for ability outfits and styling battles, etc, etc.

I have blazed through the game, but some hidden book was written by a man trying to develop his whim by playing mini-games? An active stylist berated him, saying that there is no known way to develop your whim. It just happens. The man then kept playing mini-games because no proof it works? Hey, there's no proof it won't work!

Is that it? Have I missed anything? Did they answer this question when I wasn't listening? Any reply is welcome! 💕

Let me just romanticize his current condition right now… Okay, so I don’t know much of the League of Legends lore, but apparently Viktor becomes an emotionless robot villian character. I don’t know how the Arcane series will handle him, but I assume (and it’s possibly hinted at) that his emotions will or are being numb or fading before appearing more of a robot. Anyway, imagine despite Viktor’s emotions being lost or becoming numb, the one thing he’ll never lose his is burning affection for reader, after all, she’s the love of his life. And maybe because of this, since it seems like the Hexcore is sort of sentient, it begins to respond positively towards her? So, you know when Viktor was in the Hexcore box thing healing from the explosion and when Mel tried to touch it, spikes extended out? Well imagine reader busying herself up with something else so she’s distracted from seeing wisps slowly extend out from the box to touch her, almost if Viktor desperately wants to feel her even while unconscious or the Hexcore is curious.

and I thought of this too!!! I thought of it a lot.... but.... I can't decide how the hexcore would react. there's a scene in s1 where it appears to get angry because viktor tries to destroy it, perhaps it would carry the same anger towards you, because you are a reminder of viktor's humanity?

or maybe it would be the opposite. the hexcore sort of became viktor and it might react on his own whims and emotions. it's power is drawn to you, trying to invite you in, willing to do anything to keep you safe because that's what viktor would do.
