The Kingdom of Gardania is a unitary republic; for administrative purposes it’s divided into eight regions (Gardania, Burghley, Beaumont, Montcroix, Montrose, Hardsdale, Greenwich, Woodville) and one self-governing region (Sulani). All major cities are marked in the map above [OOC: All current worlds in TS4!]. It works as a unitary parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy. The current monarch is HM King David I de Villiers.

The De Villiers family has ruled the Kingdom since it’s beginning centuries ago.

The legal age in all of Gardania is 18 (eighteen) years old. This is also the age when royal children are allowed to partake in individual solo engagements all around the kingdom; usually royal children accompany their parents until they are of age.

Under King Louis I’s rule, then Crown Prince David took on all engagements his father and mother wouldn’t go to, his younger siblings not allowed to attend even after being of age due to HM King Louis I stating it was to “help him be the best he can and so he can learn how to be a proper King in the future.” After his death, HM King David’s siblings all started participating on royal engagements.

CROWN SUCCESSION: Absolute primogeniture, meaning the crown is inherited by the oldest child, irrespective of gender. This was changed from male-preference primogeniture (oldest male child) around 100 years ago. There is yet to be a female ruler in Gardania.

MARRIAGE: Every member of the royal family is free to marry whomever they choose. However, the current monarch has to agree and approve the marriage. If the monarch doesn’t see the match fit, the marriage cannot go through.

For the crown heir, there’s an exception. Parliament is called in, which consists of eighty members, and a vote is done: approval or disapproval. The current monarch is allowed a veto, meaning if he disagrees with their decision, he can overthrow it and decide himself. This veto is only allowed when it comes to the topic of marriage.

SAME-SEX MARRIAGE: Same-sex marriage has been allowed in Gardenia for multiple decades. HRH Prince William de Villiers, son of former King Louis I, married his long-time boyfriend Ian York after secretly dating for years. It’s unknown if his majesty King Louis I approved or not, considering he passed before the wedding took place or the relationship went public. The current monarch, HM King David, was the first ruler to openly support the LGBTQ+ Community and consequently, his brother.

Pandemic forces adjustments to long-planned funeral arrangements

Prince Charles paid a personal tribute on Saturday to his "dear papa" Prince Philip, saying the Royal Family missed him enormously and that the 99-year-old would have been amazed at the touching reaction to his death from around the world.

Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth, who had been at her side throughout her record-breaking 69-year reign, died at Windsor Castle on Friday, at age 99.

"As you can imagine, my family and I miss my father enormously," said Charles, the couple's eldest son and heir to the throne, outside his Highgrove House home in west England.

"My dear papa was a very special person who I think above all else would have been amazed by the reaction and the touching things that have been said about him and from that point of view we are, my family, deeply grateful for all that. It will sustain us in this particular loss and at this particularly sad time."

Pandemic-adjusted funeral plans

Buckingham Palace announced that the funeral for Philip would be held on April 17, and that the Queen's grandson,  Prince Harry, who now lives in the United States, would attend.

Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, who is pregnant with their second child, will not attend on doctor's advice, according to the palace.

The palace said long-established plans for the funeral had to be redrawn and scaled down because of COVID-19 restrictions, but they remained very much in line with Philip's wishes.

Philip, who was officially known as the Duke of Edinburgh, will be given a ceremonial royal funeral, not a state funeral, as had been planned before the pandemic.

But there will be no public processions, and it will be held entirely within the grounds of Windsor Castle and limited to 30 mourners.

The funeral, which will be broadcast on live television, will be held at St. George's Chapel on the castle grounds and will be preceded by a minute's silence across the country.

Charles and other members of the Royal Family will walk behind a specially-modified Land Rover, which Philip helped design. At the conclusion of the service, Philip will be interred in the Royal Vault.

Buckingham Palace stressed the service would be held in line with government coronavirus guidelines, meaning members of the Royal Family, including the Queen, would be expected to wear masks.

Philip's children pay tribute

Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, meanwhile, travelled to Windsor Castle on Saturday to visit with their mother. Philip and the Queen had been married for over 73 years.

Edward and his wife, Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, spent about an hour at the castle, and Sophie told reporters "the Queen has been amazing" as the couple left Windsor in a Land Rover. Andrew waved at crowds as he left.

Prince Charles visited his mother on Friday, shortly after Buckingham Palace announced Philip's death.

In a tribute program aired by the BBC on Friday, all four of Philip's children remembered him as someone who had encouraged and supported them.

Charles described his father's life as an "astonishing achievement," while Edward said his father had a tough job that was carried out with the most "extraordinary flair."

Princess Anne praised the support her father had provided her mother, from her early years as Queen.

"They needed to be a double act for a lot of that time to allow her to take on that role."

In honour of the prince, the armed forces, including artillery units in London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast and the British overseas territory of Gibraltar, and some warships, fired Death Gun Salutes at noon local time on Saturday.

Royal Navy ships HMS Diamond and HMS Montrose took part in the ceremonies to honour the Duke of Edinburgh, who served as a naval officer during the Second World War and held the office of Lord High Admiral.

Gun salutes also marked the deaths of Queen Victoria in 1901 and Winston Churchill in 1965.

A nation mourns

The Royal Family asked the public to heed physical distancing rules and avoid visits to its residences, but people still gathered to place cards and bouquets outside Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace and pay tribute to Prince Philip.

Happy - A Drastoria Story

It was the annual Greengrass Foundation Charity Ball held at the Greengrass Estate. This year, Hyperion Greengrass has decided to invite every wizards and witches from all over for this occasion unlike their previous year's hosting it. From the start when they were planning this ball, they had everyone who was anyone invited to make a special announcement about their youngest daughter Astoria’s engagement to her betrothed. However, just a few weeks ago when she received the proposal, she surprised not only her betrothed and her family, but also herself by rejecting it, citing that she simply was not ready for marriage.

Astoria knew that she has disappointed her family when she turned down the proposal. The truth was she was not ready nor does she want to marry the guy. It just did not felt right. Everything was just so simple yet she felt empty. Like something was missing and she was meant for other things...meant to be with someone else.

During the event, Astoria mingled around and had to face the pity from guests of those who have heard of her engagement not following through. She knew there was gossip out there about him dumping her but she decided to let it be at the moment because she wants to focus on other things in her life.

As the event went on, she started to feel a little lightheaded and decided to retreat to the first floor balcony, not before asking one of her house elves to bring her some food and a drink as she step outside for fresh air.

More people started pouring into the balcony and Astoria stayed the corner as she looked at the greenery around the home she has been growing up in. No longer does she live at the Greengrass Estate because she decided to move out and live in an apartment on her own. She also figured it would be a good place to hide for the time being and start to gain the independence she has always wanted since she was little.

She glanced at the corner of her eyes and sees a tall blonde guy walking in. It was no mistake it was none other than the infamous Malfoy heir. It was then Astoria realized she has never really met or talked him before despite them being in the same school and same house. In fact, he was even in her house once back in the day.

Astoria never really had much opinion about the Malfoy heir, even when he joined the Death Eaters. To her, he’s nothing but a bully, always teasing Harry Potter and his friends. But seeing him helping Harry Potter with the fight with the dark lord, she figured not all of him is bad. She remembers noticing his behaviour change during his 6th year, around the time he joined the group and how it was simply out of character of him to remain silent. It was then Astoria concluded that he wasn’t a bad guy, he was just broken.

Her thoughts were interrupted when her house elf handed her a plate of appetizers and a drink in hand for her to consume. If she was going to stay for the rest of the party, she would have to fuel her body.

It was the day of the annual Greengrass Foundation Charity Ball held at the Greengrass estate, much like every year. Draco was no stranger to coming to the event nor was he a stranger to the estate. In fact, one of his close friends from Hogwarts is Daphne Greengrass, the first heir to her family’s current legacy. Draco knew of the second heir but never formally met her before. The only thing he knew about her was her name.

It was his mother who encouraged him to go to the event to make good publicity for the Malfoy family by attending a charity event. The invite was extended to him courtesy of Daphne, with them still keeping in touch despite everything that had happened to him. The Greengrass family were purebloods but they managed to be the neutral party at all cost. This had something to do with the fact that her father, Hyperion, is a diplomat and a well-known one at that.

When he arrived, he was greeted with whispers among the guests there. He had gotten used to it even though it had been years since his family’s infamous run with the Death Eaters. There was nothing he could do about it no matter how hard he tried to move past it. It is true when they said that your past will always be there to haunt you.

He spotted Daphne with her fiance and greeted the couple. Daphne was glad to see Draco there, being that he is the only friend she closely kept in touch with even after her falling out with some of their close friends in Slytherin. Daphne helped to introduce him to a few people but he could only take so much of the whispers and eye glances at him.

Draco excused himself for some fresh air at the first floor balcony where he sees a few people were hanging out in. Soon some of them went back inside when the Greengrass parents rally the guests.

“Here is some food and a drink for you, Miss Astoria. I hope this will keep you well fed,” said the house elf. “However, you mother has told me to tell you to come inside.”

“Thank you. I’ll be in after I finish eating.”

Draco looked at the girl with the brunette hair and a bright blue gown that the house elf had just served. She was gorgeous. He’s heard of her countless of times in school courtesy of Daphne. Especially during his fifth year of Hogwarts when word got around in the boys’ dormitory that Daphne’s sister has become “hot” over the summer.

“Hi,” he greeted her, surprising himself by his actions.

Astoria turned to see the person trying to talk to her and smiled back politely. “Hi,” she replied.

“You’re Daphne’s sister, right? Astoria?”

“Yes, that’s me,” she looked at her plate of appetizers that her house elf handed to her and offered it to Draco. “Do you want some?”

“No, thank you. My name is-”

“Draco, I know. We go to Hogwarts together. We’re even sorted to Slytherin,” she finished his sentence.

“You’re two years below me and Daphne.”

Astoria nodded and giggled, “That’s right.”

Draco took a moment to take in her smile and giggle. Both were pretty adorable in his opinion. Before he knew it, he felt himself smiling sincerely since he arrived at the Greengrass Estate. “I’m sorry I just don’t understand how we’ve never met before. I remember spending a few days here during a summer break yet I’ve never seen you before,” he finally said after a silence.

“Well, I was with my father during his trip to the muggle world. I spent most of my summer days there during that time,” she answered.

“Right, I remember hearing something about it,” he responded, hoping the conversation would keep going.

Astoria continued smiling at him after she took a sip of her water that her house elf had handed to her, “So are you enjoying yourself?” she asked politely.

“I think so. And you?”

“Big parties make me feel dizzy,” she replied truthfully. “That’s why I like to run off for a while and recharge alone.”

“Oh, I hope I’m not being a bother to you.”

“No, you’re not. I rather just talk to one person instead of talking to five at once,” she said, then she started moving closer to his ear while looking at their surrounding to whisper: “Plus I’m avoiding the press.”

Draco raised his eyebrow at the statement, “Does Little Greengrass have a scandal?” he teased.

“First of all, no one has called me ‘Little Greengrass’ in years and no it’s not a scandal. Or maybe it is a little bit depending on what you’ve heard.”

“Why? What happened?” he asked curiously.

Astoria contemplated telling him but took a deep breath and spoke, “I turned down a marriage proposal,” she revealed.

Draco couldn’t help but scoff, “Is that it? That’s hardly anything newsworthy. I should know. I’ve been making headlines ever since what happened to me and my family.” Draco noticed that Astoria was quite surprised at the comment he made, let alone making a joke for his family’s current state in society even after the war.

Astoria, however, shrugged it off and stayed on topic, “It is when you’re supposed to be engaged to a son of top ranking legislator in the Ministry of Magic, who is also apparently one of the most eligible bachelors to date who has just been recruited by the Montrose Magpies, who I only just learned is a very popular team.”

“What, you don’t like Quidditch?” he asked, almost offensively. Everybody he knows likes Quidditch.

“I never played it,” she confessed indifferently.

“How have you not played it?”

Astoria tilted her head, as if to think of ways to explain her situation. “There are circumstances that prevents me from doing so but trust me, I’ve always wanted to try,” she replied.

They fell in silence again. However, there was something Draco was curious about. “So this guy, he must be a real bugger for you to turn him down,” he said, hoping that she doesn’t think that he’s prying into her life.

“He’s actually pretty nice, but something is just not there for me. Being in a relationship with him feels empty and I feel like we can never make each other happy,” she explained.

“I can’t remember the last time I felt happy,” Draco stated, staring into the gardens of the Greengrass Estate.

Astoria looks at him with pity, “Everybody deserves to be happy. Even you. What’s living if you’re not happy?” she asked rhetorically.

Once again, Draco found himself smiling, “You make it sound so easy.”

“It can be,” she replied.

They continued making small talk with one another and moving closer and closer until they’re shoulder to shoulder. Both of them could not help but smile and laugh as they continued conversing about everything and nothing. It had to stop abruptly when the Greengrass house elf came back and urged Astoria to come inside to reunite with her parents for the press.

“I’m afraid duty calls,” she told him, sighing. She didn’t want to walk away from their conversation.

“Please, go ahead, I understand,” Draco replied.

Astoria stopped and looked at him, “It was nice talking to you, Draco.”

“It was nice talking to you too, Astoria. And for officially meeting you,” he added.

“I’ll see you around then,” she responded and started to make her way to the door to enter the estate.

“Astoria?” Draco called for her.

Astoria spun around and looked at him hopefully, “Yes?”

Draco wasn’t sure what exactly he wanted to say to her but he knew he had to say something. She’s stood at the door frame waiting patiently for his next sentence, “Have I mentioned how I like your name?”

Astoria started to shake her head and giggle again, “No, but thank you, Draco.”

“I would like to see you again very soon. I like talking with you. I don’t think I’ve really talked to anyone this long in a very long time. Of course, if you’re ok with that.” he offered.

“That would be nice. Dinner perhaps?” Astoria suggested, to which Draco nodded quickly. She smiles at his response. “I’m sure we can find more things to talk about then. I’ll owl you my address later. You can pick me up tomorrow evening.”

“Perfect. See you.”

She gave a polite nod before heading inside. For the first time in a very long time, Draco felt happy. He felt like he finally had something to look forward to. He knew there was something special about this girl and he is not about to lose her any time soon.

MASKED ASSAILANTS ATTACK MINISTRY GALA, AND HEAD AUROR HARRY POTTER IS MISSING! COULD THIS BE A DEATH EATER RESSURGENCE?

“The Wizarding World will never be the same again,” the infamous last words of Minister for Magic, Harriet Whitman, said just moments before masked assailants invaded the Teddy Lupin Foundation Charity Ball and Gala, murdering the Minister and dozens more in a violent attack. These words echo in the minds of all magical citizens today as a question is posed: Are these attacks at all related to the war our community faced thirty years ago? Following the violence, the familiar Death Mark was sighted above the event venue, and many are calling flashbacks to Lord Voldemort's second rise to power with last night's events. 

But new information in light of the attack have people questioning whether this terrorist organization is truly connected to Lord Voldemort's regime of the past. With a staggering 57 of the 450 attendees of the event found dead following the attack, an additional 14 were said to be from the terrorist group that lead the attack and a medical examiner from St. Mungo's has confirmed in a public statement that 9 of the deceased assailants were muggleborn young adults believed to have formerly lived at the orphanage that had been attacked by Alecto and Amycus Carrow earlier in the year. “Through identification, we can confirm that nine of the killed attackers were in fact muggleborn and rather young, some appearing to have just barely graduated from Hogwarts,” said the examiner in an official statement. Asked whether any of the attackers were acting under the Imperius Curse, the examiner gave no comment, citing “inconclusive evidence” that is still being examined by law enforcement authorities.

Most frightening of all the news in the aftermath of last night’s gala is word that Head Auror and War Veteran, Harry James Potter, has disappeared. Rumors are escalating that the attack was merely to get close to the Head Auror and that it was in fact an abduction attempt, however there is no firm confirmation of whether or not Potter was taken by these masked assailants or if he disappeared during the battle that unfurled following the Minister’s speech. Following the speedy exit of the terrorists, it was said that Potter was no where in sight, and all have begun imagining the worst. We attempted to get a statement from the Auror Office, who only urge the public to “not panic, and to continue to trust in them and their efforts to defend the safety and peace of our community.” 

Law Enforcement officials are also investigating what appears to be a dual attack in Dorset at Puddlemere United Coach, Oliver Wood’s family home. At the same time as last night’s gala, it was said that several teenagers and students of Hogwarts School were meeting at the Wood Family Residence for a party when more of these terrorists appeared and wreaked havoc. Aurors as well as a brigade of Mediwizards and Healers from St. Mungo’s were called onto the scene in the early hours of the morning when word came of a second Death Mark sighting. While there is confirmation of no fatalities and just minor injuries, many are questioning the safety of their children in light of these acts of violence. Representatives from the Auror Office continue to ask the public to not fret, insisting they have the situation under control, though we have reason to believe the opposite. With Head Auror Potter missing and the Minister dead, many have reason to believe that the Ministry is in a shamble trying to figure out who these masked assailants are and what their purpose is. Despite the Auror Office’s attempts to stay mum, Former Ministerial Candidate and Head of the Wizengamot, Serilda Selwyn has released a statement on last night’s vicious attacks, her words providing the only clarity and comfort in a trying time. 

“Last night’s Gala was supposed to be the dawning of a new and peaceful day for our people, but a group of terrorists sought to take our peace and prosperity and to run it to the ground by committing senseless acts of violence and murdering our fearless leader. Harriet Whitman was a great woman, who had a unique and wonderful vision for the future of our community. While the Department of Law Enforcement continues their valiant efforts to investigate this incident, I will confirm that these attacks bear the insignia of the Death Eater regime of the First and Second Wizarding Wars. They don’t want you to know this, but I will not lie to my people. The Death Eater regime appears to be back, and as ruthless as ever before, no longer basing their attacks on the non-magical or muggleborn but going straight for the heart of our community. I can also confirm that Head Auror Harry Potter disappeared during the struggle. While we have no evidence confirming suspicions of his abduction, we shan’t act blind to what has happened. This was deliberate, perhaps something in the making for some time now. As a community we must come together in what could be dark times and prepare to take up arms against the threat being poised at our world today. Whatever these terrorists want, they shall not gain, and through the combined efforts of the Auror Office and my own investigation committee, we will bring justice to the Wizarding World and the families of all those lost last night.” 

The statement has many wondering if Selwyn will be chosen to take the office of Minister for Magic in light of the circumstances, though Selwyn has made no comment on the matter. In a statement from her offices, the Ministry Official is “completely and utterly dedicated to making sure another attack doesn’t happen.” Any questions on Madame Selwyn’s allegiances prior to her press conference this morning seem to have completely disappeared as all look to her as the beacon of hope in the aftermath of these terrible events. 

Still, we must question whether or not to believe in her words or the Auror Office words when the question is poised: Is This a Death Eater Resurgence, and did the previous attacks have anything to do with last night’s events? The Auror Office still holds onto their conclusions in previous investigations that all were isolated attacks of senseless violence, but many are turning to Madame Selwyn and her confirmation that this is much more. Especially as the safety of our children are brought into question. The Department of Magical Education has decided to delay the start of the new school year at Hogwarts as investigations carry on into last night’s attacks, with The Hogwarts Express now scheduled to take children to Hogwarts Castle on September 8th this year. The Ministry insists that the safety of children are top priority and that there will be no worry going into the new school year, but some are already wondering if they should pull their children from Hogwarts this year. 

Until more information comes into light on these recent events, we urge all citizens to act with caution and be vigilante. And, of course, if you see anything suspicious, please submit them to the Daily Prophet tip line or your nearest Law Enforcement Office via Owl Post.

Alasdair Maddock, 1969 - 2025;  Famed Chaser for the Montrose Magpies, Alasdair was perhaps best known for being fired from the decorated team when a fascination with muggle sports lead to a major upset on the pitch. Despite this, Maddock always remained a favorite among Scotland’s most fervent quidditch fans, representing the National Team in four World Cups and leading Magpies to five League Cup Wins. It was said that Maddock died defending his family during the attacks at the Gala. He is survived by a wife, former Pride of Portree Keeper, Meaghan Maddock née McCormack and six sons, five of which are professional Quidditch players and one who is the Hogwarts Flying Instructor. Our deepest sympathies go out to the Maddock family in this trying time. 

Penelope Clearwater-Mason, 1976 - 2025; A Ministry Worker and Mother, Penelope Clearwater-Mason is said to have died while dueling with one of the attackers at the ball. She was found by her son, Auror Jack Anthony Mason. Penelope Clearwater-Mason was by no means a well known woman, but to her family she was the world. The loving mother is survived by a husband and four children, all of which will miss her dearly. A memorial service is being held by members of the International Magical Trading Standard Body for their fallen co-worker on Saturday. Her contributions to the office and the Department of International Magical Cooperation will never be forgotten. Our thoughts go out to the Clearwater-Mason family in this hard time, and we ask all to keep them in their prayers. 

Neville Longbottom, 1980 - 2025; Beloved Professor and Veteran of the Second Wizarding War, Neville Longbottom was the only son of respected former Aurors Frank and Alice Longbottom who were both tortured to insanity by Death Eaters in the 1980′s. Loved by all who knew him as a brave and compassionate soul, Longbottom was perhaps best known for his contributions to the Second Wizarding War and as a great friend to Head Auror Harry Potter. Following the Second Wizarding War, Longbottom worked as an Auror for a short time, following in his parents’ footsteps, before going on to teach Herbology at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he taught for fifteen years. It is said he died protecting dear friend Harry Potter until the very end. He is survived by a wife, Hannah Longbottom née Abbott, one son and two daughters, but shall be missed by all. We send our condolences to the Longbottom family following their loss. 

Oliver Wood, 1975 - 2025; One of Puddlemere United’s Head Coaches and the League’s most well known Keepers, Oliver Wood was perhaps most known for his love and devotion to the sport of Quidditch. This was only rivaled by the love he had for his daughters, Isabella and Charlotte, whom he leaves behind along with a wife, Adeline. Oliver was also a war hero, having returned during the Wizarding World’s darkest hour to participate in the Battle of Hogwarts in May of 1998. His contributions to this war, as well as the British Irish Quidditch League shall never be forgotten. His legacy continues in his children, one daughter said to be eager to follow in his footsteps to become a professional Quidditch player while the other is said to be seeking an internship in the Department of Magical Games and Sports. Wood was believed to have died during a one-on-one duel with one of the assailants. Our hearts go out to the Wood family for their loss. 

Renée Hamilton 1983 - 2025; A Beauxbatons alum and active advocate for Muggleborn rights,  Renée Hamilton will be missed but always remembered for her contributions to the fight to bring equality to all wizards despite their blood status. She came to the UK with a mission, to see to it that all muggleborns were treated fairly and justly in light of the conflicts of the past. For her part, she did everything she could. It is believed that this made Madame Hamilton a prime target for the assailants that acted in the name of the former regime of Lord Voldemort. She is gone but her work prevails as the community continues to gather together to make sure that all people be treated with the same respect no matter their blood status.  Renée leaves behind a wonder wife, Sophia Hamilton née Moreau, and their only son, who is a student at Hogwarts. We send our love to the Hamilton family and ask all to think of them in these trying times. 

Audrey Weasley 1976 - 2025; A member of the Wizarding World’s most famous family, Audrey Weasley had also made  name for herself in the art world. Renowned for her skill on canvass, Audrey was well known in both the muggle and wizarding world for her pieces which were the center of many studios during her time. The loving mother of two daughters and wife of the third child of Arthur and Molly Weasley, Percy Ignatius Weasley, Audrey was known for her charity work, leading art auctions with the help of other artists in the name of various causes. One of her pieces sold for a hefty price during the Foundation’s silent auction at the gala, just shortly before the attack. Mrs. Weasley was murdered during a duel while defending her husband, who fought back and avenged his fallen wife by taking out the assailant who harmed her. This is no doubt heartbreaking news for the Weasley-Potter families who also mourn the loss of a dear friend and the disappearance of Head Auror Potter. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and wish them the best in this time.
