i was watching gilmore girls and Loralia and Michel give me the same as Alina and Ivan
where he all annoyed and she has too much energy who is annoying him
I owe you a confession, Nonnie
...I've never seen Gilmore Girls.
I know it's been aired in Hungary (also, the Hungarian title is "The Hotel of Hearts", like, sure), and I know the very basics of the plot, I just never had the urge to watch it. So, yeah, I know who Lorelai is, but Michael.... beats me :'D
Anyway, I'll take your word for it :)

Nick & Nora / Sid & Nancy - Jess Meets Lorelai
Please, let us never forget, that Jess Mariano only includes people in his life that he deems worth. Yes, sometimes that is a version of snobbery where he dismisses people without really knowing them. But he doesn't dismiss Lorelai at first. Luke introduces Lorelai as a friend and Jess pauses, refraining from running up the stairs and instead stopping to meet this woman. It's Lorelai Gilmore's first sentence that makes him flinch and fair enough.
The first thing Lorelai says to Jess Mariano is a rape joke. Or would be interpreted as a rape joke by a New Yorker.
"She can show you where all the good wilding goes on."
Wilding: (a botany term) [and i hope to God that this is how Loralai intended it]: is about cultivating plants or being one with nature.
But to anyone who lived in, or visited, or watched the news in New York specifically in the 90s would understand that the word has a second, more colloquial meaning.
Wilding: the activity of youths of going on a protracted and violent rampage in a public place, attacking or mugging people at random, unprovoked violence, typically ending in rape. The term originated in 1989 (as a mishearing/misinterpreting of a similar word with a harmless cultural meaning) and would grace the papers of the state of New York in mostly regards to cases of rape of a stranger.
To a native New Yorker, hearing this from someone in 2001 would still burn, even if he was only a child when the word started floating about. And, while Loralia was busy growing up, becoming a mother, raising a daughter, and beginning a career in those years during the term's prevalence, there is no way she didn't watch an episode of Seinfeld, Buffy, Ally McBeal, or catch some of the News, or a newspaper, ora conversation from an out-of-towner about the business in New York. And as a woman especially, did no one ever make an off-hand remark to her about steering clear of parks to avoid the 'wilding' in the ten years that it was a buzzword in the media?
This sentence she says, "the park...where all the good wilding goes on," is probably interpreted as a rape joke and on screen we see Jess take a slight step backward.
Is this woman accusing him of something? Is she assuming he's the sort of criminal, the sort of man, the sort of human being, that would behave that way? She doesn't even know him, how dare she! If she's prejudging him that way, he's well within his rights to cut her from his circle of people he's involved with.
Or is it something a little darker. He might interpret the word 'good' as Lorelai's morals condoning of the behaviour and he's not standing for it. Why should he keep someone around if that's the kind of thing they think is okay? He's more morally-minded than that.
Or he might be flinching from experience. We know his morals are strong, but they aren't always on display, especially not yet. And we know that Liz is a terror of a parent (even though that is forgotten by the time her character is introduced in the flesh). We know she's a "flake," "never-present," and that's just this Luke talking about her in this episode. Later, from Jess and from Liz, we'll find out she's a drug-abuser, and has either been married or in serious relationships multiple times. She kicks her son out of the house when she can't deal with him anymore, and Jess, like a PTSD victim, needs to listen to metal music to be able to sleep. And, he's comfortable living in squalor. There might be a more second or even first-hand experience of rape in Jess Mariano's life and Lorelai Gilmore, someone Luke, the person he trusts most in the world (which isn't saying much) just told him is a close friend, just made a joke about it.
Any of these interpretations, which I think Jess Mariano would have jumped to - No wonder he wants nothing to do with her.

I have cared about 4 tv couples, Loralia and Luke, Leslie and Ben, Buffy and Spike, and Dean and Cas. You know what really upsets me. These were all written romantically as enemy's to friends to people who loved eachother, and the shows they were on told me this. So why does one carry a stigma? Why is one of these frowned upon to talk about? Well thats bullshit! Love is love! I want these couples together because they are the best people for eachother and they would make eachother happy!
The fact that Supernatural had a chance to normalize love is love and didn't, is a damn shame. These are characters, and they belong to us now, we want them to end up happy. I wish more famous people would come right out and say they support them.. because if this year has taught us anything its to stand up for what is right!

💆♀️👯🎃👀🤬 + Loralai Morrigan and Destiny Mariposa? :)
Destiny Mariposa
💆♀️- Destiny’s self care is bit odd normal, but granted she’s also a literal faerie. What she considers self care is taking care of her wings, hanging out near a waterfall, watch the sunrise, paint her nails, doing a face mask, and smoking a cigarette.
👯- The most common nickname she has is Des, which is a shorten version of her name. She sometimes gets called angel, due to her fairy wings.
🎃- She loves Valentine’s Day because she love the idea of love. Since she’s a faerie, she celebrates the winter solstice and the spring equinox
👀 - Destiny was almost an Umbrella Academy oc
🤬 - I feel like two things that people might hate about her is; her poly relationship and the fact that she is a faerie
Loralai Morrigan
💆♀️- Loralia’s self care includes hiding in darkness, Star gazing, lighting her favorite candles, intense exercise, journaling, and swimming
👯- Her nicknames include; Lory, Lor, vamps, dark one, lady of the night, and mistress of death
🎃- She absolutely adores halloween
👀 - Loralia was almost a twilight and even TVD oc
🤬 - I feel like people hate that she maybe over powered given she’s a demigod - whom is a daughter of Thanatos, and vampire

I had a really great game of DnD last night, but my party is trying – and failing – to kill off an advancing army of hobgoblins. It made me want to reminisce about simpler times. So here is some art I’ve been doing of my character on and off, and also a dramatic retelling of a time Loralai was very much Loralai.

Slagathor, Loralai, and Elbereth had been traveling a little behind the caravan the last couple of days. The Dawn Bringers were leading the fleeing mass of people, so bringing up the rear seemed like the most resasonable choice. So far, the woods had been quiet. After the encounter at Drellinsferry, the silence felt more ominous than peaceful.
They were passing the ghost of a small deserted town when Slagathor threw out a long furry arm to block their path.

“Stop.” He hissed, his ears twitching as he listened intently.
They both stopped, looking at him expectantly. Loralai slowed her breathing, trying to pick out what he had heard, and the tall elf reached for an arrow.
“What?” Loralai whispered.
Slagathor muttered something about voices under his breath, and trotted off the road back toward the town. Glancing at the stoic half-elf, Loralai shrugged, and jogged after him.
The two of them caught up to him just before the edge of the town. He was crouched in some foliage, watching as a chair flew out of a second story window. It crashed against the dirt road, shards of the glass pane showering around it.
“‘ave ye been in this’n boss?” a scrawny, nasal-voiced man wandered out into the open, and then into a different door.
“How many are there?” Loralai whispered, crouching next to the bugbear. “I’m not sure. They’re Tiger Gang though, for sure.”
Not caring how he knew that — nor why it mattered, she surveyed the town. Another man had come onto the street — one who clearly thought he was important. Imbeciles always found some reason to think they were important.
“Shall we kill them?” She asked. The bug bear visibly winced, and glared at her.
“They could cause us trouble later on,” Elbereth offered, “It might not be a terrible idea.”
Loralai was beginning to like this woman more.
“They’re just looting a ghost town. Murder is a little — overzealous, don’t you think?” Slag said.
“They don’t look like the kind of folk that deserve good graces,” Elbereth countered.
Slag hissed back something high and moral, and the argument faded into background noise as Loralai watched the self-important man in the street. He was yelling back and forth with his men, who continued to ransack the empty village.
“Watch this,” She whispered, and then leapt out from within the bushes. She could feel in her bones that today was not her best day for acrobatics, but she was never low on showmanship. Grinning to herself, she skipped, jumped, and then cartwheeled gracefully out into the center of the street.
Using her momentum, she turned the last cartwheel into a backflip, and then landed it on one foot, her other leg curved up behind her. She balanced a moment, for effect, then reached back and grabbed her gracefully pointed foot, and leaned forward into a spin around her hip, carefully rotating her other leg as she came up again. With some contrived grace, she let go of her foot and leapt into a handstand, and then quickly back up to her feet again, landing on tight pointed toes with her head bowed and her arms spread out on either side of her, palms down and fingers loose. Her signature.
Silence spread out around her, and she breathed in and out slowly — measuring herself. Unmoving, she acknowledged Ripper at its place against her thigh, and listened. The man shuffled two steps closer and stared in confusion.
“Who’re you?” The man barked, his tone just as imbecilic as the rest of him. Another lackey emerged from a doorway, and looked on, puzzled.
“Oi! You deaf?” He shouted.
Loralia held her stance, waiting.
The man took his spear in his fist, and advanced.
Her fingers twitched.
Two more steps, and he was within range. She was itching to strike. Sloppily, he wagged his spear at her, and breathed in to say something else.
In one motion, she slapped the spear aside, pulled Ripper from its sheath, and slammed it into his chest, instantly feeling the damage she had done.
The man’s eyes went wide, and then he choked, bloody spittle dripping from his mouth. Loralai, pulled the dagger out of his chest and watched with satisfaction as the man began drowning in his own ichor, crumpling to the ground. The unnaturally plentiful flow of blood from the wound finished him quickly.
It hadn’t been the cleanest of kills, but of course today had not been her day in general.
She cast a visceral glare at the lackey by the door, and he let out an inhuman whimper. Then he was off as fast as he could run, dropping loot and screaming for his comrades to run.
Elbereth leapt out of the woods, bow strung, and fired at the fleeing man. She missed, but only because he was already forty feet away. The lanky bugbear showed his face too, and the men emerging from the buildings all around were quick to realize the danger they were in. Perhaps they weren’t as stupid as she’d assumed. She stood predatorily over the dead man and smiled at them as they ran.
It was a thirty-man footrace into the woods, and all had disappeared in a matter of minutes, stumbling and yelping profanities.
Loralai wiped Ripper on the trousers of the warm corpse, and then sheathed him while she walked back to her companions. Slag gave her a dangerous look, and she grinned.
“She only killed one,” Elbereth said, slinging her bow around her again.
“And now they won’t be back to bother us, will they?” Loralai said tapping the bugbear on the chest with her jester’s glove, the red stain stark against the white fabric.

HIEROCLES || HUSBAND || FC: AARON TVEIT
Originally from Caria, Hierocles was at one point enslaved and ended up in Rome. He became a charioteer, and it was whilst participating in one of the chariot races that he gained the attention of Elagabalus, in quite an odd and unexpected sequence of events. In a certain race, he fell out of his chariot, opposite the seat of the Empress, and lost his helmet in the fall. The lack of a helmet revealed his handsome beauty to the young ruler ; he was young, beardless, and blessed with a crown of golden hair. Elagabalus was completely and utterly infatuated. Her fickle attention grabbed, she had Hierocles rushed to the palace immediately. It was there that he reportedly captivated her with his nocturnal feats, and they fell deeply in love. She granted him his freedom, and married him.
He violently upbraided and beat Elagabalus on several occasions after catching her being unfaithful – however, this is something she reportedly enjoyed, and even set herself up for being caught in the act. Some writers speculate she even asked for such violent behaviour. She never became vexed at this maltreatment, instead loving him even moreso for it. He was also notoriously jealous, going so far as to drug the drink of another potential lover of his wife, henceforth making the man unable to secure an erection.
Hierocles was reportedly immensely powerful within the court, extorting nobles of their riches in return for falsified words from the Empress herself. Elagabalus apparently tried to appoint him Caesar, much to the chagrin of her grandmother, and she supposedly threatened the woman for opposing her over this. She even became at odds with the soldiers on his account, and this was one of the things that led to her death. She made no attempt to hide her relationship with him, nor her infatuation for him, the two appearing in public and her allegedly kissing him upon the manhood during Floralia.
He was removed along with more of Elagabalus’ companions during a riot started by the Praetorian Guard. The Empress was forced to comply, and Hierocles was the only one whom which she begged to be left with. She was sobbing and trembling, pleading with them to spare only herself, and her beloved Hierocles. This did not work, and she was forced to dismiss him. This proved detrimental, as from that point, she reportedly refused to do anything befitting of an Empress and instead spent her days demanding her husband back.
They never did meet again, and Hierocles was murdered with the rest of Elagabalus’ court on the 11th of March, 222.

Headcanon: Family Fallout
A randomly conceived headcanon just thought up while browsing my timeline:
Quaron, Varondil's father, grew recluse and distant after the death of Loralia. However distant he grew from his duties, though, it was double such towards Varondil. The young heir didn't understand why his father would flinch, and avoid any contact with his son, where before he was always welcoming to the child, always warm.
Varondil began to suspect his father hated him, for one reason or another; perhaps he only feigned interest while his mother lived, to satisfy her. Maybe there was something about Varondil that his father despised - or otherwise Varondil's shortcomings in his lessons were yet another burden to his father.
What varondil didn't know, though, was that it was the exact opposite.
His father loved he and his mother deeply; to the point the loss of his mother, Quaron's only love, shattered the Lord Arpenfal. He couldn't bear the sight of his son not because of any shortcomings, but because Varondil reminded him too much of his deceased wife, having taken after her and not himself. Just the sight of Varondil's pale skin filled Quaron with guilt, and so he secluded himself, hoping not to bring down the child's emotional state.
Of course, in distancing himself, that's exactly what he did.

[ Loralia, have you ever been at the receiving end of severe prejudice from your Altmeri cousins regarding your mixed heritage? Do you fear what the Thalmor might do to you and your family (particularly your father) if they were to find out that you are a product of a human-Altmer relationship? ]
[[Okay wow you are amazing for coming up for these great, detailed questions for everyone. Thank you so much!]]
Loralia paused for a moment, thinking over her words before speaking.
"I… Unfortunately, I have yes. Ever since I was young I’ve been taught it was something to be ashamed of," she bit her lip, remembering the lectures she had gotten from her father about keeping it a secret. "I’ve had a few Thalmor give me problems for it- though not all! I’ve been told I’m a disgrace to our kind…"
The mention of her father caused her to pause again and she sighed sadly.
"I used to worry about my father, after all he’s part of the Thalmor, surely it would damage his reputation if they found out… But I can’t worry about him, not any more. I want people to accept me for who I am, but not even my father can do that. It’s… It’s confusing."

[[Mix it Up!]]
[Prompt]
Mya'Dar 45. "Shut up! Just shut up!"
Tortulja blinked in surprise at the sudden outburst, and her eyes quickly fell on the shouter. A Khajiit was glaring at a clearly drunken Nord. He moved to put hands on the Khajiit, but Tort was there to stop him. A quick shove knocked him off balance, and all the patrons in the Bee and Barb found it downright hilarious.
Aodhfin28. "Explain it to me one more time."
"I'm not sure how much more I can explain," Tort replied with an uncertain frown, her bottom lip caught between her teeth. "I can show you, though? Maybe that will help?" With that, she produced three apples from her satchel, and with some difficulty at first, began to juggle.
Loralia1. "What do you mean they're all gone?"
"Um...I mean they were all bought?" she offers, furrowing her brows slightly. "But I'm sure Keerava or Talen-Jei will start to make more soon."
Arzuug23. "Over my dead body."
"No, I... it was a joke," Tort replied quickly, shaking her head. "I wouldn't know how to wield a heavy weapon anyway."

The Ambassador
Thank you to @jopping-to-my-kpop for this moodboard! I love it!
Junhui stood next to the stable observing his surroundings, curiously. Loralia was already so different than Thoria, despite being so near to each other. This was his first time traveling out of his home kingdom and he must admit that he was already thoroughly enjoying himself. Sure the days of traveling had been a bit tough, but he got to see so many wonderful sights. When he finally arrived in his neighboring kingdom, he realized he had been so enamored with the scenery on his ride over that he hadn’t studied the historical material his father had given him. He reminded himself that no matter Loralia’s beauty, he was here on behalf of his father to secure a trade agreement and that he needed to get his head together. He gathered the books and papers he had been sent with, and asked the first person he saw where the library was. He only had a few days to learn all he could and make the meeting with the king. He had his work cut out for him.
You fluttered around the library, sweeping and straightening the chairs someone obviously didn’t have time to push under the table. The pushed out chairs were too few to make the library look like it was in disarray, but you knew that if you didn’t make sure they were in their proper places, one of two things was going to happen. The first scenario was a sassy comment from your boss, Wonwoo. He was a wonderful boss, and a genuinely nice guy despite being so quiet, and you had told him since you moved to Loralia that you were going to bring him out of his shell. The second outcome was honestly more likely than the first, though you hated to admit that, and it could still lead to the first possibility. Chairs in the way meant you falling. It had happened numerous times, no matter how careful you were being. You could see the chair, make a mental note to take care, and still trip. And somehow Wonwoo was always in eye sight of you so you got to see the amusement in his eyes. He was your closest friend so he always made sure you were ok, but he never passed up the opportunity to tease. After the last time you fell, Wonwoo had been convinced that you had broken your ankle, it had been decided that rounds would be made to make sure chairs were in their rightful place.
Following the friendly man’s advice, Junhui walked through the town admiring everything. Loralia’s small cottages had a different architecture than the homes in Thoria, but he still thought they looked very cozy. The crops being grown in the small gardens varied, some could be gotten easily back home, but some would cost a good bit more if they were wanted. He watched as the children ran around playing games he was not aware of and he greatly wished he could ask them to teach him, but in the back of his mind his father’s voice reminded him that he had a job to do. He was honored his father had chosen him to make this journey, rather than his older brother, but he couldn’t help but feel that he wasn’t quite ready for a task this large. It being his first trip away from home, he was a little worried that his curiosity would get the better of him. He was extremely interested in the differences between his country and Loralia, and he wasn’t exactly known for being shy so he really wished he could look around a bit more. His thoughts were interrupted when he noticed the library sign, and he was very grateful that he had taken lessons to be able to speak and read Loralian as he pulled the handle of the door, cool air hitting him the face as he stepped inside.
The ringing of the small bell above the door caught your attention and you turned to see if it was one of your regulars only to be met with an unfamiliar face. You were immediately struck by his beauty. He was tall, about the height of Wonwoo, with light brown hair that covered his forehead and fell into his eyes slightly. With his furrowed eyebrows and his lips formed into a tight line you could tell that he was a little tense and confused, and you thought he must be new to town. Your eyes followed his form as he moved from the door to a table to the right. You knew you shouldn’t just stare at the man, but it was so unusual to have someone else who wasn’t from Loralia so you couldn’t help but watch him. He pulled out his chair with such grace you wondered if he had taken etiquette classes as a child. He scooted his chair up a little, leaving enough room for his long legs and sat numerous books on the table. You hadn’t even realized he had been carrying the books, but he immediately grabbed one and began to read it from the beginning. You made yourself tear your eyes from this new mystery man, wanting to give him as much privacy as a public library would allow, and continued your sweeping rounds.
Wanting to get in as much studying as he possibly could, Jun grabbed the book on Loralian taxes, figuring he would go ahead and try to get what was sure to be the most boring one out of the way. It wasn’t terribly long so as long as he kept focused he was sure he could finish it in a couple hours, but he knew he would have to take breaks to keep himself from falling asleep. He was extremely glad that he had arrived a few days in advance, he had a whole 3 days starting the next day that he could use to learn the things he needed to. He quickly learned that the tax rate for Loralia differed greatly from that of Thoria, Loralia’s being a fair bit lower, and he made a mental note that he would need to think of a way to settle any possible dispute. He turned his attention back to the book and a few moments later suddenly brought him out of his concentration.
“Loralian taxes? That’s a pretty boring topic.” The words just flew out of your mouth and you found yourself bringing your hand up to cover your mouth as the handsome new guy just kind of stared at you. You had just meant to sweep around his table and leave, you just happened to take a peek at what he was reading. You were mortified that your first words to this man were insulting his choice of reading material. The man opened his mouth to speak and your fight or flight instincts kicked in with the only option that made sense in your mind. Flight. You dropped the handle of the broom and turned on your heel and began to hurry in the opposite direction. You shuffled your feet at a speed that you knew would cause an accident, you didn’t move fast for a reason, and of course when you turned your head to make sure he had gone back to his studies, you ran into a chair that hadn’t been put away yet. The seat of the chair hit your knees and your body just seemed to fall forward on its own causing you to do a flip over the chair and land flat on your back.
Jun watched as you did a full somersault over the chair and his immediate reaction was to laugh then he noticed you just laying flat on the floor, making no move to get up. He shoved his chair backwards and jogged over to you, another man getting to you only a split second later. “Miss, are you ok?” Kneeling beside you he could see how lovely you looked through the pure embarrassment on your face. He lifted his head at the sound of the other man’s voice to see a smile on his face as though he wasn’t actually worried. “This is the third time this week, Y/N. I thought that was the whole point of doing chair checks.” The man laughed as you lifted your hand to swat at him lightly. Jun offered you his hand so he could help you up and was pleased when you grabbed it. When you apologized, he told you that you had nothing to apologize for and that accidents happened. Your friend laughed as he walked away. “She’s a walking accident.” Jun’s turn to laugh came when he watched you throw a book at the man.
You grabbed the chair and immediately put it back in its proper place, standing and staring at it for a moment as if you were making sure it wouldn’t jump back out the second you turned your back. Facing the stranger, you stuck your arm out for a handshake. “Y/N. Thanks for checking on me. It’s not a big deal, in case you didn’t hear Wonwoo, I do that quite often.” You ended your statement with a small chuckle as you waited for him to take your hand. Just as you were about to pull back, he clasped his hand around yours. “Junhui, but I prefer Jun.” His smile was blinding and made you smile a little wider without even realizing.
Jun scanned your face, taking in your features. Of course, he found you stunning, but he also noticed that you looked nothing like any of the people he had come in contact with in Loralia. The realization hit him suddenly and it made him more than a little excited. He dropped his eyes from your face, not wanting to stare for too long and make you uncomfortable. He checked again to make sure you were actually ok before he made his way back to his table, small smile still playing on his lips as he opened his book and began to read. He could feel fascination with you settling itself in his mind and he knew he needed to spend time with you while he was here, not only because he found you beautiful, but because he felt you could understand and help him. Because like him, you weren't born in Loralia and you had once had to do some of the same studying he was doing.
You watched as he poured over the numerous books on the table in front of him, stopping every now and then to write something down as if he were taking notes. You had looked at some of the books he had around him while you were by his table. Of course he had the book on taxes that had been the catalyst for your embarrassing episode, but he also had a book of Loralian history, and one on the history of Loralian trade agreements. You’re mind flashed to when you had first come to Loralia. Once you had landed your job at the library, you had wanted to know more about the place you would be calling your home. You had started reading the book Jun was currently nose deep in when Wonwoo noticed and suggested a book that was both easier to understand and far more interesting to read. Without really thinking about it, you began weaving your way through the rows of bookshelves.
Jun was in his own world, doing his best to take notes and understand the complex sentences he was reading. More often than not, he would have to read them more than once to get a firm grasp on the information that was given. Having decided to take a small break, he leaned back in his chair, eyes closed and back a tad bit stiff, when a small thud came from in front of him. His eyes flew open as he looked around thinking he had dropped something somehow, when his they settled on you sitting across from him. He watched as a friendly smile formed on your face and you slid a book over to him. “This one is a far better read than that monster you have there. It pretty much has the same information, but you don’t have to reread a page three times to understand it and it doesn’t put you to sleep.” He reached to take the book, hesitating slightly, and slid it towards himself and flipping through it. He could see you move to stand up to walk away and he hurried to grab your wrist.
You looked from his hand on your wrist then back to his face and watched as pink began to creep over his cheeks. He snatched his hand back quickly and held it slightly, as if your skin had burned him, and you had to hold back a giggle. He cleared his throat in an attempt to cover his embarrassment and brought his eyes up to meet yours. “Thank you. I was really struggling over here.” You made no attempt to hide your laugh this time around, but still managed to keep it soft and quiet since you were still in the library. You heard Wonwoo call your name a bit louder than he would during normal open hours and you realized that it was time to lock the doors and clean up. You gave him a bright smile as you let him know that it was time to close up. “Take that book, I’ll make sure it gets signed out properly. No worries.” Jun thanked you and asked what time the library would be opening the next day and asked if you would be working, saying that he would love to know more of your suggestions. With his questions answered, he bid you goodbye and said he would see you the next day and you grabbed the broom and continued to sweep.
Jun made sure to stroll slowly as he moved to the room he had rented in the local inn. He had been very insistent on staying in the inn rather than staying amongst the royals. Though his father considered himself to be a very noble man, Jun had never thought that way. It wasn’t something he wanted. He just wanted to travel and experience the world. He had never thought of himself as better than anyone based on who he was born to, and while his father never treated anyone differently, behind closed doors he made it known that even if he liked a person of lesser status, they were still a lower class. Jun grabbed his key from the small lady at the front desk and climbed the stairs to his room, exhaustion from his travels setting in. After bathing and getting himself some food, he climbed into bed, ready to get up bright and early the next day. As he drifted off, your face was the last thing he saw in his mind.
You always got to the library earlier than you needed to. Wonwoo opened on the five days a week he worked, but you wanted to be there just in case he needed anything. You loved the walk to work, it was just so refreshing and usually put you in a good mood and set the mood for the rest of your day. You knew Wonwoo would already be inside with the door locked, so you fumbled for your key as you approached the building. As you got closer, you noticed someone with their head down sitting on one of the benches outside. You weren’t usually one to be suspicious, but then again there usually weren’t people sitting outside the library so early in the morning. As you climbed the stairs to the small landing right outside the door, the figure looked up and you recognized him. Jun. He was smiling bright, despite the hour. “You’re here rather early.” You let a smirk grace your mouth, letting him know that you were teasing him in a lighthearted way. He gave a deep chuckle, that kind of made your heart skip, before he addressed you. “I have a lot to learn and very little time to learn it. I need to start early.” No one had ever been waiting outside for the library to open, so you knew that whatever he needed to learn must be important. You unlocked the door and stepped inside, holding the door open without a second thought. “You coming in or what?”
Jun could only look at you with surprise evident on his face. He had only wanted to make sure he had gotten here as soon as the library opened so he could study as long as he possibly could, he didn’t mean to make you feel like you needed to let him in early. “But it isn’t open yet.” He could see you trying to bite back a laugh, which confused him even more, but the sight of you smiling made him immediately break out into a smile. After your reassurances, he followed you inside and took a seat at the same table he sat at the day before. He liked it’s location, close to the exit, not too far from the restroom, and he had a clear view of pretty much the entire library. He wasted no time digging in to his studying, the meeting was only getting closer.
You sat your things down at the front desk and looked around to find Wonwoo. He came around the same corner you had just began to navigate, your head slamming into his chest causing you to lose your balance. Your morning routine could in no way be complete without a morning fall. Wonwoo held his hand out, giving a hearty laugh as he helped you off of the floor. You noticed his eyes shift around the room, settling on Jun’s hunched form at the table before he turned to you and raised an eyebrow. “What? He was just sitting outside waiting. Said he wanted to get here as early as possible for some kind of deadline.” Wonwoo just rested a hand on your shoulder. “If he really is trying to learn about the country and what it’s like to be new here, maybe you should help him. You’ve been there before.” You thought about it briefly. He did have a point.
Jun was focused on his reading, glad that you had given him the new book. You had been right, it was much easier to understand and he was speeding through it. He had found plenty of information he could use in his meeting with Seungcheol and was starting to feel a bit more confident that he could succeed in securing the trade agreement. He decided to switch back over to the book about taxes, wanting to have as much information on that as possible, when he heard the chair across from him being pulled out from the table. His immediate thought was that he had lost track of time and someone decided that they wanted to use this table too, so he lifted his head with a smile, preparing to greet a stranger. When he was met with your face, his smile became a genuine one rather than the slightly forced smile he had had.
You could see the smile he had fade into a brighter smile as he realized it was you, making your stomach do small flips. You didn’t know this man, but that didn’t seem to matter to your feelings because you had a rush of wanting to grab his face and just smoosh your lips to his. You shook your head slightly, not wanting to give in to that thought, and returned his smile with one equally as genuine. You had thought of trying to help him before Wonwoo mentioned it, but you didn’t want to seem like you were being nosey or like you were being pushy. “I came to see if you needed anymore help with learning about Loralia. I don’t know as much as Wonwoo, but I can help you with some of the basics of being new here.”
The thought of you wanting to help him made him happier than he felt it probably should have considering he had just met you. He knew that the odds of you knowing a lot about the specifics that he needed were slim, but he wanted to spend more time with you, and this way he could do that and some of his work at the same time. Throughout the course of the day, you moved to the chair beside him so you could point to some passages that had helped you learn a lot. He could smell the soap you used for your hair and he had decided that whatever that scent was, it was his new favorite smell. He had also learned more about you, which he thought was better than anything else he could have learned. You had been in Loralia for about 4 years, and you considered it to be more of a home than the place you were born, Artis. Your family had not been very supportive of the move, wanting you to take over the family business, but that hadn’t been where your heart was. You had always had a love of literature so when you stopped in a new place, you always wanted to check out the library. You had fallen in love with the people and the way of life in Loralia, so had decided to stay. Jun admired your bravery for disregarding your family’s wishes and doing what made you happy, and he hoped one day he would have the courage to do the same.
“So. Someone has a crush.” Even with your back to him, you knew that Wonwoo had a stupid smirk on his face, so you didn’t feel bad about your snappy reply. “Until you can actually talk to the girl who comes in here every single day, you know the one you just kind of look at from behind bookshelves, you don’t get an opinion.” You turned to see the smirk gone, replaced with a blush, and you laughed. You knew that one day you would have to help him talk to her, but it would not be the next day. You had spent all day with Jun, talking about yourselves mostly, but you had tried to help him with his studies. You learned he was here to secure a trade agreement between Loralia and Thoria, which explained the book on taxes, but you couldn’t really help him much. You did offer to help him plan out his small speech he would present to the king, which he would happily accepted. Wonwoo had no issues with you getting paid to sit with someone all day, he said that helping was part of a librarian’s job, but you suspected that he had some matchmaking wish. You were trying to keep your feelings for Jun from growing, especially since he would be leaving after his meeting, but naturally that wasn’t working. You played over the events of the day as you walked home, and he hadn’t faded from your mind by the time it was time to sleep. You knew you would dream of him, and honestly, you didn’t have a problem with it.
Jun got to the library bright and early once again, though this time he had to admit that his motivation to do so was different than the day before. He only had that today left to do as he pleased and then he would have his meeting and leave and he wanted to spend as much time as he could with you. As the library came into view, he saw someone was already waiting on the bench and his heart fell a little. He knew there would be no offer of coming in early if someone else was waiting, it wouldn’t be fair. As he got closer, he realized that it was you sitting on the bench today. “I was wondering when you’d show up.” You popped off of the bench quickly, big smile on your face and an outstretched arm. “I brought coffee. It’s gonna be a long day.” Jun took the cup from your hands and took a small sip, amazed at how you managed to get his coffee to taste exactly the way he liked it.
The two of you poured over books all day and even a little after closing time. You wanted to make sure that Jun’s speech was perfectly written and reflected some of the ideas he had for the meeting. From what he had said, his father seemed to have some good ideas, but you had wanted to know what his thoughts on the matter were. It took a little prying to get them out of him, but you found that he seemed to be much more in tuned with what the less well off people would want. After some convincing, he allowed you to write in some of what he had in mind into the speech, and you were fairly confident that things would go over smoothly. You had been finished with it for quite a while, but you were feeling selfish and kept double checking for nothing to keep him for just a little bit longer. When the light outside began to dim, you knew you couldn’t keep him for any longer and you put on your best fake smile as you handed him the paper with his speech perfectly written.
Jun purposefully kept his pace slow as he walked to the door, not really wanting to leave. He already had plans to talk to his father when he returned to Thoria, and set out on a traveling journey. Loralia would be his first stop, he knew he wanted to see you again. He watched as you fumbled with your keys, trying to seem as if you couldn’t find the one for the door but he knew better. He had watched you find the key with no issue multiple times so he knew you were aware of which key it was. If it hadn’t been for that, he probably wouldn’t have gotten his courage up. As you opened the door for him to step out, he could see you still had a fake smile on, and that made his heart squeeze. He didn’t want you to ever look upset, he only wanted you to have the big, bright smile he had grown used to. He stood there staring at you for a brief moment, before his surge of confidence hit him. In a swift movement, he wrapped his arms around you, pulling you close to him. As your arms wrapped around his back, he was certain this was the best hug he had ever had. He pulled back slightly, just enough to place a small peck on your forehead. “I’ll come by before I leave tomorrow. I promise.”
“Will you stand still? You’re gonna tr-” Wonwoo’s words were cut off as you tripped over a lump in the rug you were pacing on. “Trip.” He finished his sentence and helped you up from the floor. You were a bit of a mess. You had barely slept the night before, and you were late that morning. You hadn’t wanted to bathe, you could still smell Jun on your clothes and you weren’t quite ready to get rid of it, but that meant that you had to rush and get clean before work. The library had been open for hours, most of the day even, and there was still no sight of Jun. You were a little worried he had forgotten you, or that he simply had just changed his mind. When closing time came with still no visit, your mood had greatly deflated and you just wanted to go home and sleep. As you walked out of the library, locking the door behind you, you noticed a pair of feet by the bench. “Sorry, the library is closed for the day.” You spoke without looking up, tears already pricking the corners of your eyes. “Sorry I’m late. The meeting went on longer than expected.” Your eyes shot up to the sound of Jun’s voice.
He scanned your face, noticing your watery eyes immediately. He wasted no time pulling you into a tight hug, guilt rising in his chest for taking so long despite it not being something he could have helped. He felt better when he felt you hug him back and ask him how everything went. He pulled back from the hug, smiling widely. “It went great, better than great even. Seungcheol really like my ideas and wants me to stay in Loralia for a while and manage the trade from here. I’ve already agreed.” He was happy to see the light return to your eyes and that was all it took for him to lean his face down to yours. He felt your hands on either side of his face, pulling him down the rest of the way until your lips met. The kiss was quick, but he felt like it would be the first of many. With his forehead resting against yours, the two of you stayed that way for a few moments. Finally pulling apart, he took your hand in his and asked if he could walk you home. By the time he arrived back at his room at the inn, he had succeeded in getting two more kisses and a lunch date for the next day. Sure, his traveling plans were being put on hold for a little longer, but he was getting to stay in a beautiful place where you were. That was a fair trade in his opinion.
