Lore ^_^

Etho's a member of the NHO, a semi-well known group of criminals in the undercity. He's a tinkerer and kind of a hermit, despite having a few inventions that have improved the lives of many in the undercity, he largely prefers keeping to himself and keeping out of the 'public' eye. Nearly everyone knows of him but they don't know much about him.

His mask is a respirator, which he needs to breathe even in the upper parts of Zaun where the air is generally okay nowadays. Generations of family having health problems from the toxic air fucked his lungs up big time, so his body is a little more sensitive.

He lost his eye after angering another gang and getting caught alone, kind of kidnapped, tortured + left to die. Doc patched him up as best he could when they found him, but it definitely wasn't perfect.

"Oh great, NOW you want to end our lineage. The Robotnik gene is truly wasted upon you. Is what I would say if Maria wasn't around to keep it afloat. Anyway, I guess I should've expected this from you. Also stop calling me grandpopsicle I hate this dumb shit" and it's bad and he starts ignoring them and Ivo tries to reconcile with him repeatedly and make him see reason and Stone wants to kill that old goat and. They definitely don't invite him their wedding. Well actually Ivo secretly did and Gerald just returned to sender.

Okay this sucks I'm sad now. Anyway, NEXT. gameverse

Gameverse Gerald would NOT be homophobic. He'd hear that Ivo is in gay relationship and uses it as a jumping point to talk about sexualities in various ancient civilizations before being like "anyway I'm glad you found somebody, Ivo, truth be told I was a little worried about you being alone all the time, hope he keeps you in check haha. Also hey, where does he work. No reason" and then Ivo goes "oh he's a GUN agent :)" and Gerald is like. "Oh. Uh. Okay. Did he. Ask anything about your work or stuff about the ARK." and Ivo's like "oh he likes to listen to me talk and always asks such interesting questions :)" and internally Gerald's like "FUUUUUCK"

Cuz if you remember. GUN tried to screw with him majorly so many times. Always pressuring him for weapons of mass destruction fully knowing how much he hates it and treating him like their pet scientist. In this AU he successfully cured Maria and somehow protected Shadow (don't ask how. I don't know) and there was no raid but still, that was. Such an awful time for him and the last thing he wants is for Ivo to get caught up in something like this.

He'd try to keep it to himself for a while until exploding about it because that man loves to bottle his emotions until he spirals out of control and man that wouldn't be pretty but I'm certain at some point they'll work it out, Stone understanding that this comes from a place of genuine concern and wanting to protect Ivo, Gerald understanding that Stone would never let anything bad happen to Ivo or his family, and he gets invited to the wedding hooray

(Oh and in both movie and gameverse Maria is 100% supportive btw. I didn't mention that because we KNOW she would be)

deeply refreshing to see someone critical of Swift who also like, genuinely likes her. Like i'm neutral to positive on her, but the online discourse has been absolutely rancid. flipping between "Taylor Swift has never done anything wrong ever and she's a fucking genius" and "Taylor Swift is the worst lyricist of all time and also a bad person" is exhausting, so thank you for like. nuance or something lmao

not to make it serious for a sec but i genuinely think that being able to like things that are bad is really important. like I think that it's an important skill to be able to look at something and see what you personally enjoy about it and then take a step back and acknowledge that objectively it's flawed. and to also be able to acknowledge that liking something isn't necessarily an identity or a moral stance. and i think that fandom space in general could really benefit from more people taking the time to learn how to do that. it's okay to like things that are bad

[That was the last time I saw Nancy before she moved. Not once did I stop thinking of studying law at The University of Britechester. Being a lawyer would change things from the case to how people saw me. I would have that power and knowledge over people. No one would look down on me or think of that weak boy]

[I thought maybe, her parents would give me a chance once they saw me again. Honestly, I put so much pressure on myself to get those top grades. If I messed up, it was a sign my dad was winning this battle and he would continue to haunt me forever. Unless I gained that power. So I often studied until I exhausted myself]

[Time passed by and I was back in the city, ready to start my law degree at Britechester. The countryside healed all my childhood wounds, but the scars remained.
