PSA: MSMC Contract Offer Guidelines

In light of the recent anonymous contract offers our fellow mercenaries at @corsair-mc-official have been receiving, Upper Management would like to remind its beneficiaries of the terms and regulations regarding the contract requirements of MSMC.

In compliance with Union policy, all would-be contractors offering jobs to the mercenary squadrons employed by MSMC must include the following information when submitting job offers:

Full name of the person(s) / organization / corporate entity / etc. submitting the job offer

Identification number of squadron(s) requested for deployment

Job description, which must include: deployment location(s), contract length, liability risks (defined here as "potential threats to the pilots, MSMC, or other parties as a result of undertaking this contract"), allied parties (if applicable), and pay grade

Specialized personnel / equipment requirements (if applicable)

Job offers submitted anonymously will be automatically rejected by MSMC, as they stand in direct violation of company policy as per the requirements listed above.

Furthermore, any job offers which list active war zones or otherwise contested territories as areas of deployment (including but not limited to: the Dawnline Shore, Free Sanjak, New Madrassa, and the Karrakin Trade Baronies) are subject to immediate rejection at MSMC's discretion. Would-be contractors should be advised that they may be contacted through private channels to further clarify the services requested of MSMC's mercenaries in these locations and ensure their job offers are in compliance with Union policy.

MSMC would also like to remind its pilots that any suspicious job offers should be rejected and reported to Upper Management, so that their sources may be traced for questioning and appropriate legal action may be taken (if necessary).

In the event of a squadron accepting an illegal contract, all liability for injury, damages, and death becomes the full responsibility of the squadron(s) contracted for the job, as per the updated MSMC guidelines. MSMC takes full legal responsibility for all pilots under its employ, but it will not be held liable if if its assets are damaged, defamed, or otherwise imperiled by illegal contracts.

Hey!! So these days I’ve remembered a joke that was quite popular in the fandom about Shinichiro not being able to get a girl because Wakasa was always with him and they would choose Waka over Shin. I just wonder how much of this could be true, since we don’t have any info of Wakasa interest in this topic or if he know he is good-looking and uses it to his favor.

First of all, I love the idea that Shinichiro got rejected so many time because of a bunch of different reasons, one being that his flirting skills are so bad his awkwardness somehow surpasses his good looks (I'll argue that in-canon he was meant to embody any average Japanese man with no specific physical trait (despite having a mixed-race dad) but like, scratch that, Shinichiro is handsome. Perhaps not in an outstanding, eye-catching way, but he is very good looking.) and leads to girls basically running away because he's being overly head over heels for a first meeting, is being a tiny bit too hopelessly romantic than it's acceptable (and sounds desperate sometimes) or starts talking about bikes because he saw an opportunity to and he lovesss talking about them (and the only other conversation topic that comes easily to him is his siblings) so it can go on for hours - so they leave. Shame on them.

(Another reason is because he goes up to girls he saw from afar before confessing his love and they reject him because.. they don't know him - at most they know his face but he barely if ever spoke with them. He's a loser, I love him)

Secondly: Wakasa's part in all of this.

We already know Wakasa loves to mess with people, to troll them (it's in the guide book), and we also know that Wakasa - alongside Benkei - made fun of Shinichiro rather often (teen Wakasa and teen Benkei's sole two lines are really just this lol (chapter 230 and 269)). I'd find it hard to believe for Wakasa to not be aware of his attractiveness. I don't see him looking for a relationship, but he must know the impact he has on others - even only objectively speaking.

So honestly? I think he'd do it, yeah, just to laugh at Shinichiro (playfully of course, he has no ill intent). It also helps to sort girls who'd go to other (more attractive or not) men given the chance. Shinichiro would do bad with casual relationships, he wants to give all of his heart to the person he loves, he doesn't want one that can end. Wakasa rather have Shinichiro cry because 'it's unfair!! a girl was finally interested in me, why did you have to steal her heart?!!' than get his heart broken because he thought they had something only for her to leave once she found someone else.

(Alternatively, Shinichiro simply whining that if Wakasa wasn't there, he'd have a girlfriend by now because they wouldn't just all focus on Wakasa - whether he did anything for them to focus on him or not)

It robs Shinichiro from possible relationships, but it's more of a test from Wakasa than a mean joke. Because Shinichiro is his dear friend and he deserves the best. He gets hurt easily, and one of Wakasa's job - as a friend and as one of Black Dragon member - is to protect him to the best of his capacities. Physical and emotional wounds both

Also it's funny to see Shinichiro's reactions to it.

And it's not like he does something everytime - people look at him more than they look at Shinichiro whether he intends for it or not! He's not stopping it, though

this is suuuch a stretch but now that the wonderland sekai has a confirmed ocean and islands i ALMOST want them to accidentally sail into the empty sekai’s body of water and freak out.

if that’s even possible in the lore. idk i haven’t read a good portion of the vsinger events where they talk about the lore soooo

but like… think about it. after they finish the first round of world link events for all the units i have NO idea what they’re going to do with that event type. coincidentally the vsinger wl (estimated for august) is in line with the 4th anni, and it sort of makes sense that the sekais could potentially connect and lots of stuff happens before 5th anni (usually a good milestone if i’m going off bandori). the only good scenario i have in mind is yk… GROUP SHUFFLES! SEKAI COLLISIONS OR SOME SHIT!! MULTI GROUP COVERS which i know they said they weren’t going to do unless for special occasions but like??

and also im aware that pjsk as it is is actually doing pretty well without doing group shuffle covers and stuff like bandori (by this i mean like the general election special songs like catastrophe banquet) and each of the groups don’t actually NEED that connection with the other groups… but come on. it’d be neat.

sorry if you’ve answered this before, but do you count Marc as an alien? I’ve seen some people do it on Reddit & I fully get why, but personally I kinda feel like only the og 4 can count??? I find myself saying “the aliens AND Marc” but then I’m wondering if I’m just being dumb about the semantics of it lol. Do you know if ppl more broadly in the sport (commentators, other riders, etc) count Marc as an alien? (god I swear this sport makes me type out the dumbest sentences I’ve ever written in my life lol)

I'm not massively fussed about this either way, though I personally do include marc as an alien because it's just a useful shorthand for those five riders. the term for those 'og 4' that gets bandied about is 'the fantastic four'... I cannot tell you why, but personally I just cannot bring myself to call them That. (though I've also seen the term being used for the top four in this year's championship, which I fw even less.) I talked about how I use the term in this post, where my main point was that to me the term primarily is about an era. there was a specific time span in motogp history where the championship was completely dominated by a small group of riders, partly because they were just very good and partly because they had a substantial machinery advantage over everyone else. in any given year from 2007 to 2015, you could safely predict that every single race would be won by one of four riders. the only exceptions to this are le mans 2007 (vermeulen on a factory suzuki), motegi 2007 (capirossi on a factory ducati), donington 2009 (dovizioso on a factory honda), and assen 2011 (spies on a factory yamaha). all of these races were conducted in the wet too... in the dry, it's complete domination

which, again. this is partly about the machinery, like this was just an era with way more substantial a factory/satellite divide than you'd get today (or indeed in the 990cc era). you never know what would've happened if more riders had that quality of machinery - though obviously it's worth pointing out that dovi in three years at repsol honda secured a single race win to dani's nine. (and casey got ten in 2011 alone, when all three of them were teammates.) still, it's at its most useful to me to describe them as like. a group. as a dynamic that consistently played out in competition across a set number of years. which to me marc is a part of. basically this:

because marc took over casey's role in ensuring that dynamic SO completely, I think it makes sense to include him in that group. the dynamic is essentially the same, right? until change in tech regulations, control electronics and michelin tyres and all the rest of it, as well as gradual competitive decline of the 'og aliens' and shift of the competitive balance between yamaha and ducati from 2016 onwards signals the end of the alien era. the aliens describe a cohort more than riders of a certain talent level (which is fine by me since I am not a fan of discussions of talent). but valentino has roughly the same age gap to dani as marc has to jorge, so... might as well expand it to those five

as for what the wider motogp world says, yeah, I do think they're mostly on board with calling marc an alien. again, I think when people are trying to talk only about the non-marc aliens, they tend to use the term 'fantastic four'. I do not use this term and generally just rely on context to make it clear who I'm talking about. but also if you prefer to not use the term to include marc, y'know, fair enough - the term wasn't originally used to apply to him. the difference is whether you're talking about a group of competitors elevated from the rest in 2007 to 2012, or 2007 to 2015. in practical terms, to me there isn't a massive difference between the competitive dynamics when casey was on the grid versus when marc was on the grid, so. that's where I come down on this

every 3-6 months my opinon on nick locarno does a complete 180. it’s like hey buddy ✌️😁
