I’ve been wanting to display Noah’s wedding dress for Niagara Brawls for so long and I finally managed! There he is in all his grumpy glory!

PNG, veil version and concept drawings of his dress!

Bit of an explanation for the sketches: The top left picture is of Noah in Sierra's wedding dress (left) and Blaienley's wedding dress (right). Tried Sierra's cause she was Cody's partner in canon. I hated it. Tried Blaineley's cause she was the spare and I still didn't like it. Top right picture is of Noah struggling in Blaineley's dress cause I thought he'd hate the train. I figured the show's dresses weren't gonna cut it so I tried making my own with Noah in mind. The first try is illustrated in the bottom left.

All I knew for sure is that Noah would wear a sleeved dress. Mr. three-layers-in-summer would be really uncomfortable in anything sleeveless I feel, so sleeves were a must. I also kept in mind that there was a chance he'd be the one to walk the tightrope, so I tried a short style for mobility. I briefly considered a train for style but, again, he'd hate it, so I compromised with the back half of the dress reaching the floor. The v-neck, short sleeves and the belt were inspired by his regular outfit (the neck and hem of the vest specifically). I gave him a pearl necklace for style, variety, and I think pearls suit him fairly well. I stuck with that design for a while, long enough to make the mock up of it in the show's art style (bottom right). The oval shape of the dress' hem and depth of the neckline really bothered me after a while though, so I went back and changed it to what it is now (bottom center)!

The long sleeves and fully covered chest felt a lot more appropriate for Noah. Appropriate enough that he'd be comfortable in it, at least. I toyed around with a veil (that I refused to pin to a tiara for the sake of variety) and earrings, but I think it was better not to over complicate the design with extra details. I think Noah would of just refused to wear them anyway. The necklace got lucky.

Top left: Sam is depicted as a black man with long locs that he wears in a high ponytail with two of them framing his face. His ears are long and pointy and he has some small wrinkles under his eyes. Some blond and grey strands are threaded through his otherwise black hair. The three cornrows/braids are decorated with gold cuffs and spiral accessories wrapped around them. His ears are long and pointy here as well and his nose is long and wide. He has wrinkles under his eyes, defined cheekbones and a light stubble. His eyes are a similar blend of pink and gray as in the drawing before and both of his fangs are exposed, one of which is gold.

Sorry this is so long and in no way am I trying to insult you or anything, I’m just curious about your thoughts! I will say it has been really hard finding detailed information on kimonos…

I’ve been doing research on kimonos to understand Koujaku’s a bit more and I’ve looked at your document and it seems odd to me that Koujaku would go out of his way to buy a furisode instead of just a basic men’s kimono and customize it. It’s clear he had to customize the kimono anyway because of how specific the symbolism is on it, so why go out of the way to have a kimono that is essentially a men’s kimono but with an additional hole on the side and sleeves that need to be precisely altered? You mention the overly short sleeves, but looking at Ryuuhou compared to Koujaku, they really look the same length. It is hard to *really* tell, but if Ryuuhou is wearing a men’s kimono and Koujaku isn't, I think it would be a more obvious difference. Not to mention, the sleeves on a not-furisode women’s kimono are the same length as a men’s kimono. The theory that Koujaku just decided to leave the slit in the sleeve from cutting the furisode’s sleeve because he didn’t care seems odd to me. He is said to have a hobby in kimono fashion, and is especially skilled with his hands and cutting (which is also why its a bit odd he would cut it *too* short), so I would think he would care enough to fix the design of his kimono. If you look at his concept art, his first beta design has slits in his sleeves but on the top (and his sleeves are very short so maybe that is something they wanted to show). This makes me think it was an intentional choice from Koujaku to add a unique feature like that to make his kimono look cooler. Looking at the stage play, his sleeves are very flowy and it does look really interesting. It also shows a bit more skin which he seems to like considering how open his kimono is (exposing his chests and legs). HOWEVER I do think his kimono is intentionally designed to look *like* a furisode, the way it is brightly colored and has a beautiful design on it. It is definitely a more simple design compared to some women’s kimonos (looks more like a houmongi, the design starting above the knees and wrapping to the side), but it still has that feminine “essence” to it. This would then tie into it being him appreciating women’s beauty and fashion while also choosing a bold, confident appearance to further boost his leader “persona”.

Well the most decorated kimonos are furisodes, it's probably way easier to buy the kimono with the pattern he likes and cut it than a men's kimono that are traditionally duller. Ryuuhou's kimono fits with men's kimono because of its color and it doesn't have a floral pattern like Koujaku's.

The length of the sleeve is indeed shorter. It's not the length up to the wrist, but the hanging sleeve that gets cut and shorter. He doesn't have that chunk of fabric that we can see on Ryuuhou's sprite, it looks more like an open shirt sleeve than a kimono, and the pattern on the sleeve is abruptly cut. It gets cut in the lower part too anyway because it's a png but 😭

I don't think it means he doesn't care, but he just doesn't know how to sew so he left it like that. He obviously likes kimono fashion, but I don't think it's incompatible. He likes wearing them and he knows how to properly combine and dress up, but just like liking fashion doesn't make you a designer or a tailor, him knowing how to style kimono doesn't make him know how to sew it. Like yes, of course he could learn, but the sleeves are still cut anyway so 😭 I feel like it's good that he isn't an expert on everything related to it, I guess he was busy training and trying not to kill himself lol

Personally I think he'd bring his kimono to a professional to have it sewn back, but probably nc left it like this so it would be even more obvious that it's a female kimono, not just a men's kimono with a flower pattern.

The beta designs look interesting to explore, and while they have certain things in common with his final design, I think it's pretty clear they still didn't have that idea of mixing masculine and feminine elements in his design so worked on. That one design looks way more masculine to me, and I remember honyalala commenting that Koujaku used to be a pretty different character, maybe referring to his previous designs? They're indeed so different 😭 The final design looks way more simpler but communicates a lot more, even the poses she was exploring, being almost the same, give a very different energy.

I looked on this one sketch, the final design except for the boots, that pretty much has the cut on the same place. I think she might have chosen to draw the cut on the other design in that same place so it would be more visible maybe? Gravity too, I guess.

She deliberately showed the female style obi, and given how important all the feminine/masculine theme it is to his character, physically and symbolically, personally it has always been the most reasonable thing, that he bought a furisode. They're meant to be for young, unmarried women, and he's a young, unmarried man that is often referred to as female (in the symbolic references at least, clearly not in game 😭).

I think it can kinda make sense it could be a houmongi, but I think those usually have calmer colors? Meant for more mature women, married and such. While furisode do have way brighter and more vibrant colors. Of course, there are always exceptions, specially in modern era. But again, why would he cut the sleeves if the houmongi already has the usual length?

At the end of the day, it's just theory and even if we were 99% sure it's this way or another, honyalala would have to clarify what she was going for exactly for him. There are always gonna be things that might seem strange or unnecessary, so you just stay with whatever feels better for you. Still I hope I could clarify my thoughts on this hehe

Now we are going to move our clothes to place them more or less in their corresponding place and to be able to continue increasing and decreasing their size until we find the perfect size

(groups, click in the name of our clothes : "default" , click select ...the clothes will turn red , click model, click move)

and now ... If you click on X and move the mouse, the clothes move up and down but in a straight line. If you click on Y, the clothes move right left in a straight line.If you click on Z it moves wherever you want without control (This works like this when you have chosen the front view, if you choose the left or right view things change, I will explain it later) It is important to say that you must have only one letter pressed, that letter will turn orange when you are using it, and the other two letters will remain gray

move the clothes until you have them placed more or less in the place you want and change the size until you have the desired one.

To keep in mind, if you are not very familiar with milkshape, there are 4 windows that are the views or projections of the model, left , front , top and 3D .They come by default when you open the program, but you can change the view you want whenever you want

you click on a window, right-click with the mouse, click on projection and choose the view you want… 3D front back left right top or bottom

You can also choose the way you see your model… also in the same window you choose wirefame, flat shaded, smooth shaded or textured (textured I will explain it later because for this we need the png with the texture of the clothes)

we can change the view and choose right or left to continue adjusting our clothes to the body

now the way to move the clothes by choosing the letters X and Z changes, if we click on X we will move the clothes where we want without control, if we click on Y we will move them left or right, if we click on Z we will move them up or down

we move it until we place it as we wish, if we see that the clothes are still too wide, we can narrow it, we continue with the right or left view, click on scale, and the same as the other time … 1.98 in the three letters will make the clothes wider and 0.98 in the three letters will make the clothes smaller.

when you have the perfect size, it's time to save our project … in case we mess something up we don't have to start again from scratch.

file, save as ... name you want and save it in the folder you want to save it in

now we delete the base body ... group, click on body name and delete only our clothes have to be seen

click on file export half-life SMD (at the top of the page), enter the name of our project and save it in our folder, you can use the same name as before, nothing happens because this is a different format and it will not delete the previous one.

now we need a model, a piece of clothing, from the sims game, that is similar to the one we are working on, or any clothing that you have downloaded from another simmer, but that is similar, for example, if it is a long-sleeved sweater … look for a long sleeve sweater, if it is a short sleeve t-shirt look for a short sleeve t-shirt.

we need the mesh of these clothes to extract the GMDC... this is done with the SimPe program

I don't have big plans for my edit career -- however I remain open for requests!! -- but I do know I'm going to put Pete Wentz in a dress next.

Because I was thinking, dresses are hard to do because they frequently show a lot more skin than shirts, but you know who has shirtless pics? Pete Wentz. Also, Pete in a skirt isn't too interesting given that he's worn some in real life. Might do William Beckett too, I can't remember if he has actually shirtless or just nearly-shirtless pics -- it's the shoulder area that matters the most. And if I were to use a dress that covers the shoulders and has long sleeves there's no fun in making that: you could just cut off two pngs at the neck and be done with it.

Previously on Not-BG3, someone, perhaps the player character or Tav, if you will, had a thirst for bodies (no cap, no Diddy, no vampire), and the rest of squad found a way to contain it... and its wielder. Here, it looks like they're even smaller and maybe even rowdier, almost lost in a crowd with blood prices and tadpoles the furthest from a mind.

For all intents and purposes, if I come to create more ideas like this, they'll be in a gallery/group called "Spoiled Homebrew" or something like that, in that link on DA or in my tag of the same name here. Get it? Homebrew? D&D? Beer? I'll leave.

Paper doll prototype 2!! Featuring the return of one of my fruity little elf designs.

For this one I thought about how this would work on magnet paper if it just stuck on like that instead of using the tabs. I made a lot of fiddly little accessories that lost all detail and were basically meaningless when put on the actual doll. Some things like earrings and hair accessories might just have to be drawn straight onto the base instead of being customizable, which is a shame.

I'm not married to the magnet paper yet, and will go back to the paper tabs on the next prototype. Still trying to figure out the long hair problem. I don't want to make wigs. Maybe if I cut between her hair and shoulders and don't make it waist length lol.

Some of the colours need to be fixed, too. The dress is supposed to be patterned with strawberries, but they blend together. It's easier to see in the digital file than the finished print. I'm not sure if it's because I saved it as a png instead of a jpeg like I usually do with printable files. Might also be my printer acting up as it has been. This is what prototypes are for, though!

The thicker outlines helped a lot, though I'd still love to use a Cricut or something instead. There are some logistical issues there, though. The only one I have access to is at the local public library, and only on certain days. Plus, the workable size on cricut print then cut pages is much smaller than if I just cut them out myself. Less of a concern with sticker sheets or cardstock, but a major waste of expensive magnet paper if that's what I choose to use. I might try bringing one in for a future prototype, but for now will stick to cutting everything out by hand as usual.

My goal is to have sellable dolls by the time I start attending cons again (hopefully March, possibly not until April).
