"Taste" by me | (Also on DA) | (Also on BSKY)
The tinge for the treat was too strong... and so was the one for the frozen dessert. It looks like both have gotten her into trouble.
I got in the mood for a Borrower-type scene or something. Do with it what you will.

The affected voters — those whose paperwork was mishandled and whose voter files lacked their SSN and driver's license — have until FIRDAY, APRIL 18th to contact their local board of elections and attempt to cure their ballot. If you voted in North Carolina last November, you can check whether your vote has been challenged at "The Griffin List" website: link.

(Quds) At Microsoft’s 50th anniversary celebration, Ibtehal AbuSaad — a Palestinian employee — interrupted the event in a powerful protest against the company’s complicity in the Israeli genocide unfolding in Gaza.
Facing Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman, AbuSaad didn’t hold back: “Shame on you,” she said firmly. “You are a war profiteer. Stop using AI for genocide.”
Her voice cut through the celebration as she condemned Microsoft’s role in enabling Israeli occupation forces through artificial intelligence technology.
“You have blood on your hands. All of Microsoft has blood on its hands. How dare you all celebrate while Microsoft is helping kill Palestinian children?”
Her act of courage joins a growing wave of tech workers and global voices calling out Western complicity in Israel’s ongoing atrocities in Gaza, where tens of thousands of Palestinians — the majority of them women and children — have been slaughtered under a brutal siege.

After nearly four months of frank, honest, and open dialogue about the failing economy, a weary U.S. populace announced this week that it is once again ready to be lied to about the current state of the financial system.
Tired of hearing the grim truth about their economic future, Americans demanded that the bald-faced lies resume immediately, particularly whenever politicians feel the need to divulge another terrifying problem with Wall Street, the housing market, or any one of a hundred other ticking time bombs everyone was better off not knowing about.

The damage climate change will inflict on the world's economy is likely to have been massively underestimated, according to new research by my colleagues and me, which accounts for the full global reach of extreme weather and its aftermath. To date, projections of how climate change will affect global gross domestic product (GDP) have broadly suggested mild to moderate harm. This, in part, has led to a lack of urgency in national efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. However, these models often contain a fundamental flaw—they assume a national economy is affected only by weather in that country. Any impacts from weather events elsewhere, such as how flooding in one country affects the food supply to another, are not incorporated into the models. Our new research sought to fix this. After including the global repercussions of extreme weather into our models, the predicted harm to global GDP became far worse than previously thought—affecting the lives of people in every country on Earth.

Another Potsketch in my run of tiny rooms! The theme this year is western, so I went with an old saloon! Didn't have quite the gumption to color it this year, but I had a ton of fun playing with copic and prisma markers to make it look like an old tintype.
This is up for auction at www.potsketch2025.givesmart.com
Proceeds raised this year are benefitting the youth program I run and helping to give free accessible clay classes to kids! ❤️ Please consider bidding or donating!

Researchers have developed a new method for intercepting neural signals from the brain of a person with paralysis and translating them into audible speech—all in near real-time. The result is a brain-computer interface (BCI) system similar to an advanced version of Google Translate, but instead of converting one language to another, it deciphers neural data and transforms it into spoken sentences.  Recent advancements in machine learning have enabled researchers to train AI voice synthesizers using recordings of the individual’s own voice, making the generated speech more natural and personalized. Patients with paralysis have already used BCI to improve physical motor control function by controlling computer mice and prosthetic limbs. This particular system addresses a more specific subsection of patients who have also lost their capacity to speak. In testing, the paralyzed patient was able to silently read full text sentences, which were then converted into speech by the AI voice with a delay of less than 80 milliseconds. Results of the study were published this week in the journal Nature Neuroscience by a team of researchers from the University of California, Berkeley and the University of California, San Francisco.

My current Imaginary Scenario is to pretend I'm a mouse in a sort of Beatrix Potter World and imagine all the different objects in my house and how I obtained them. You know, spool of thread side table I stole from an old lady's purse. Velvet ring box armchair I found discarded in the park after a failed marriage proposal. Pocket square bed linens I liberated from the coat of a man distracted by a pretentious argument about beer. Bottle cap dishes also liberated during that argument. Beaded curtain that used to be a Mardi Gras necklace. That sort of thing.
