Hmm. I'm sorry you've got negative associations with the word. And I agree - morality is and should be seen as & treated the same for both sexes. Good and evil are not relative to gender.

I've definitely seen "feminine" used that subjective way in media, old and new. I tend, however, to use the word more for things that are culturally feminine, and behaviors that are connected to them, or to things that are inherent to women only. Like having a frilly dress, and twirling in it, for the first two. It's feminine because in our culture, dresses are for females, and twirling is often connected with spinning around to get a skirt to flare out. For the third thing, motherhood and mothering are feminine because only women can be mothers. The male counterpart being fatherhood or being a father-figure. Also, when I have a day where I feel pretty, I associate that with feeling feminine, since I'm female and female good looks are feminine.

I'm going to be so real I HAVE developed a knee-jerk negative reaction against the words feminine and femininity I think women doing what they want is great but I really really don't like people even just hinting at how they think I should behave and that is usually implicit in the use of the terms in fact.
