2024: The Year of the Dragon

Well, we made yall! This was a 7 ruled year, ruled by the Moon, Neptune, and South Node. This year had us all deep in our feelings. So many people had their first spiritual awakening, others psychic gifts has strengthened. This year was teaching us on how to listen to our intuition. If you’re a creative, then this year was really the year ideas and projects came to you. With the moon here, so many people started their own families, so many woman in my personal life had babies this year lol. Our family dynamics changed, our homes may have changed. Lots of early life/past lives issues smacked us in the face this year, a lot of people started their healing journey.

This year is an 8 ruled year.

8 rules over the spiritual and materialistic world. 8 is balance, it means you need to balance being in our world and the spiritual.

8 is also an infinity symbol, hence why is it’s a loop. What loops(patterns)have you been stuck in? This year will show you that and what loops you need to get out of

8 also have a deep love for humanity, so I personally expect more protest against wars, those who are really suffering in our world. There’s going to be a strong empathy pull. Make no mistake though, the number 8 also rules over authority, social status, ego, inner strength and wisdom. While there’s a lot of love, there’s going to lots of people having unchecked egos so be careful of that. Listening to others opinions(whether you agree or not) will be a collective lesson.

The number 8 is ruled by Saturn and Capricorn. This is a Saturnian year. So to my fellow Saturnians/Capricorn placements/10h, we are the first in line the classroom (earth) this year lol.

Saturn is in Pisces, so fellow Caps, and everyone really, I feel we are going to continue being in our feelings and will begin to open our hearts to others. Capricorn is a reserved sign, doesn’t really show outward emotions, they would rather cry in private or in the shower😅. Not this year LoL, this year is teaching us that it’s okay to not be okay, it’s okay to be open about it as well. We will meet people who will show us the magical side of life. Saturn is a realism and pessimistic sign, but Pisces is the sign of hope, magic and fantasy. Remember, Pisces is also co ruled by Jupiter which is currently in Taurus. What is success to you? Is this success to you because this is what you were taught or is this what you really want? These are the type of questions you will be asking yourself.

8 is the number for Karma as well. Karma isn’t what many people think it is lol. Karma isn’t just some revenge type of thing lol. Also, Karma isn’t always bad either so get that out your mindset as well. Bad things happen to good people all the time, you being a good person doesn’t exempt you of messed up situations. If anything, it’s to make you become more empathetic and self aware of the bad things. Karma can be good as well

The etymology of karma is from the Sanskrit meaning “Action, Effect, Fate”

Karma is what you do that will cause a ripple/effect that can change your fate.

Example:

1. You get into a relationship and everything is going great for a year. Then you discovered your partner cheated. Your hurt and say “karma will get him and I can’t wait to watch.”

2. Months go by and you see your cheater ex is in a new relationship, treating this new partner better than you. You start thinking “karmas not real because if it was, why are they living the good life?” Meanwhile, you’re still picking up the pieces to heal but you’re healing is the key word.

3. Little do you know, your ex had cheated on you with someone who’s only using them and they end up getting cheated on. It wasn’t because of you, know they created that ripple for themselves. They let there ego and lust dictate there actions. If they would’ve had any control, they would’ve known not to do this so the Universe/God let the domino fall. They may end struggling with their career, health, spiritually to teach them to grow and learn. Now will they? That’s up to them. Just because someone appears to be doing well from the outside doesn’t mean that they really are or going to be.

4. You’ve done your healing and now know what you want and the red flags to look out for. You end up in an actual healthy relationship. A friend of yours suspects her partner of cheating and asked for your advice. Because you went through this, you know the signs. Because of this, you helped her. See that domino effect lol

One of the first biggest events of 2024 is that Pluto enters Aquarius

Mercury Retrogrades will be in fire signs this year

First Mercury Rx is in Aries on April 1st-25th. Thinking and planning your goals, making sure everything is in order.

The best way to describe this transit is communication!!! Remember Jupiter expands everything so we will be more open about our thoughts and standing on business on what we say! I feel there’s going to be a huge influx on the dire need to want to go back to school and learn new things. Big cars are going to the thing everyone will want to have! If you’re a writer, this can be a good year to write that book and get it published, all the way up until 2025 at least.

Mars Go Rx December 6th- February 23rd 2025, in the sign of Cancer and Leo!

reunion volume thoughts

first off oh damn goodbye Jin, Claudia, and Bea gonna miss yall so much 🥲😭

second, this was just such an anticlimactic way to say goodbye to all these characters lol

I'm not mad at them bringing in all the characters in groups so not everyone gets introduced all at once, but oh why did we start with Sienna and Hazel and then only at the end did we get Claudia, Theo, and Bea? Like I love a drama filled season, but even this I'm like let me take a victory lap with my friends first pleaseeee

I had enough gems so I was like ehh fuck it I'll listen to Hazel's airport drama but I did notice for more details about the same/related story later on you did still have to pay gems which is ridiculous and also if you didn't pay for at least one, then it's literally just them bickering for most of the reunion and then you get a little bit of free drama between your LI and some other dude. Like I think if you care less about the casa islanders' drama (which I absolutely understand bc I also care less about those islanders' stories), then this was a boring volume pretty much

small odd thing was that no other islanders showed up. like I get that not everyone would show if this was real and for the fiction clearly fusebox just doesnt want to draw the other islanders, but fusebox would only have to draw one dress for the missing islanders and it would make sense for them to show up. like Rachel is an OG where is she?? Felicity had some drama with the guys too how abou her?

Tyler's storyline didn't do much for me bc he gets dumped so fast that it's weird he has all these declarations about missing his connection with MC and wishing he had another chance. And it's sweet and tbh after playing this volume I do like Tyler's character more, but it's still so intense so fast. But also, if this whole storyline was for a reunion in s4 for Hazeem??? would love that. Like he got to know MC for a while but was pursuing Najuma and he realized too late he should've went for MC.

Oakley and Emel not making it on the outside was absolutely expected it went exactly how i thought it would but I do still wish they got 3rd or 4th place at least

Sophie and Jack together but unhappy and unpopular also something I would've predicted.

Sophie and Luna need to stopppp. I don't care for the other guys but I did pick Jack as the potential other man just to potentially piss off Sophie (unfortunately didn't really come into play).

and Jin's texting airport drama was so small too like it's really nothing and went exactly how I'd expect it to go

ok so general thoughts/fixes

the way almost everyone is single and you get a chance to run away with the og boys (plus liam) one last time doesn't really work for me (except Liam I guess his thing was fine, I do like the realism of him being like I came off as such an asshole I'm sorry but then also still being a little messy bc that's just him). I think maybe if there was an actual gap irl between the reunion getting released and the s8 finale it would feel better.

personally I think it could've just gone like the S1 reunion where it's a two parter, first of all. second, we get the scenery change whether it's Christmas in S1 or in S8's case, make it more autumn since it's been a few months. Again, just adds to the feeling like time has passed bc if it's just in the villa, it doesn't feel like we ever really left? THTH2 does this well too because they're still on an island vacation but they changed the backgrounds at least because it's a different location and I think that helps a lot.

I'd like less casa islanders drama and less dumped OG islanders drama

Literally would be okay if it was just partying and seeing like hey what are you up to? Is Hari's business going well? Is Jin booked and busier than ever as a model? Did MC and her partner move in together? Like we got a little bit from Liam's podcast news, Tyler traveling, and the broken up couples' relationship status, but that's it I think.

I'm trying to remember what made the other reunions so fun and I think fusebox gets close but not quite. So the first two revolve around weddings/proposals and S3 around a potential breakup, but I do like the idea of everyone hearing how one or two of the islanders slandered everyone on a podcast and they're all mad. It just also doesn't work because what if MC doesn't care? So it needs to be that plus something with your LI (for good or for bad), and then cut out most of the other stuff. Like we can include that apparently all the casa people hooked up with each other at one point but let's not let that be the main storyline or let it be less prevalent

you should be able to run away with Claudia or Bea if you're allowed to run away with the OG boys at the end. Like they can have the same storylines as the guys too, Bea being single and ready to move into a real relationship that she realized she wasn't really ready for during the show (like Tyler) and then Claudia yet again having doubts about Theo like the broken record that relationship is (like the guys in an unhappy couple with Emel/Sophie/Luna).

also ending in a big group hug is lame, it's very friend island energy and even s3 doesn't end like that. might as well copy S1 just end with your LI or running away with some other character while the person that was pursuing them earlier yells at you (does this only happen with Tim/Jen? It's a really good thing that jalen green's nature and upbringing as one of the hyped top picks has kind of steadied him through this. i swear some ppl have a pre-existing bias when it comes to cgi, lmao. that scene in nwh looked good and you also have to compare the material here. the things that spider-man is able to do is honestly something that (despite tom's background in stunts) no person can physically do! so of course they have to use cgi. and so much of it really looks great and just fits the genre and type of film that it is. like sorry but i don't know why people are expecting these actors or stunt people to move like spider-man does, it's just not possible and to create a movement like that purely organically, so yes cgi is absolutely necessary. i of course am always down for a spidey movie with less cgi, but that would mean less swinging, less action so that would be more suited for a character study - which i think tom has said he'd love to do too in nwh interviews! also anons are comparing a fictional desert alien planet in a remote area (or a fictional city in batmans case) to the very real and very busy setting of nyc! like can yall not see why practical sets work for some but not for all?

also, i gotta say the nwh fight scenes were honestly incredible. i think that scene with peter and the goblin in the apartment is really a top tier comic book film fight. the combo of tom and willem doing the actual stunts plus the vfx work turned out perfect. watching the bts i am always amazed by the stunt crew on the spidey films, they really are among the best of the best in the business

I agreed with most of your points here Anon, except for a few.

I don't think the Anon/some fans are complaining about the usage of CGI in general for Spider-man... Like I mentioned in my own response yesterday, Marvel wouldn't be able to showcase half of the fantasy worlds and outer space regions like they do in their films if they didn't use CGI. And like you said, the Spider-man films NEED CGI because he's doing stuff that most humans cannot do lol. 😅

With that said, I think Anon was just expressing frustration with the OVER-use of CGI in films today.

I keep bringing this up, but if you go back and watch "Batman: The Dark Knight", for example, you will notice a stark contrast. I think one of the reasons why that movie was so GREAT (aside from the great acting, the awesome writing, and the overall directing of the film) is that it was shot with barely any CGI, so it actually felt like a situation that could occur in REAL life.

Gotham is a fake city, and Batman scales walls also, but the CGI is so much LESS than what we see in most Marvel films.

Christopher Nolan even swears that he did NOT use any CGI in Oppenheimer in order to depict the explosions, and I think that was a deliberate choice.

This just goes to show that some films CAN be made without so much CGI.

Granted, it does make things much easier when you use CGI.... but there's a sense of realism at times when you don't use too much of it.

With that said.....

I totally agree!! 😃 The Spidey/Goblin fight in NWH was honestly amazing! 👏🏾 I felt every punch! It seems, the fights btwn Spidey and The Green Goblin are always the most raw, vicious, and intense! 😬

I recall the fight btwn Spiderman and the Green Goblin being particularly intense in the original Spiderman franchise as well lol. 🙈

So yea, don't get me wrong, I'm def not against CGI at all! Sometimes, you actually NEED it for many scenes, and it's used in TONS of films (even in areas/scenes that you don't pick up on), but I can see how having too much of it can get a bit old or even annoying.

NWH deserves some grace though, coz we were in a pandemic, and even the original locations for filming for the film went from multiple locations to just ONE: Atlanta. 👀

MANY films had to just film in one location during those covid years due to health and traveling concerns for the cast, crew, etc.

One thing I'd love to see (that I usually saw in Tobey's Franchise) is the heart of New York City and the PEOPLE in it in the film. To me, that really helps to set the tone and setting for the film.

For some reason, with Tom's Spiderman, they seem to have made the City take a back seat. 🥴

Maybe they will always film mostly in Atlanta. 🤷🏾‍♀️ But I do miss seeing the actual CITY of New York (and not just CGI or sets) in the Spiderman films. 😔

So I lowkey fucked up and instead of talking about the backstory of the cycling au like Seanagh asked for an ask game, I wrote close to 2k of worldbuilding. So I will answer Seanaghs actual ask tomorrow asdfg, but I dont wanna delete all my hard work so yapping about the cycling AU under the cut. My beloved AU <3. Please talk to me about it. First of all, I assume you saw the unroll at the very end of the fic where there was so much more lore written than what was in the fic proper so I will be mostly expanding on that, but second of all, because of the very theoretical not a sequel but a fic in the same universe, I have committed one (or two depending on how you view it) retcons, so I will yap about those first.

So the one (or two) retcons are that Carlos was sort of implied to be teammates with Charles and Pierre, just not appearing in the fic cause you know. Cycling teams contain 20 - 30 riders, especially the better ones, a good cyclist missing out on a Grand Tour is wild but there was the strong implication in the fic that it was because of Vuelta, which is a three week race in Spain. Add in that this is happening in 2024 where the Olympics are a thing and yeah, you got a solid reason for Carlos missing out.

Except this did not really work for what I am plotting for Cycling AU 2, so I am creating a new team just for him. And Oscar. And Lando. And probably other guys I cannot remember from the top of my head because yes, what is this is not McLaren, cycling edition. McLaren even sponsored a cycling team for a year in 2020, behold, the Pro Cycling Stats page of Bahrain - McLaren (idk why I'm linking it beyond the fact that I keep losing it over the idea of McLaren sponsoring a team and needing proof lol).

Actually, let me just add a picture of my list of who is in what team, without team names tho, too lazy to think of how the teams would be named

Of course, this is non exhaustive, this is just the guys who are canonically in a team together, either as established by no rules or retconned/established in the unnamed not a sequel fic. Fernando and Lance have question marks cause I dont particularly like separating teammates/guys who exist in my head together, but heres the thing.

Idk how I feel about Fernando and Lewis being teammates in present day, I don't like having George on that team as well cause he's been established as a points classification contender which makes everything awkward with Lewis and Fernando being GC contenders to even KoM competitors (and before anyone comes for me, I hope yall know that my choices for who falls into which classification are largely based on vibes. And no GC is not above any other classifications, look at Mark Cavendish's racing record, and then remember that he is considered one of the most successful cyclists ever- and he is a sprinter. Sorry for the rant)

Anyway, rant aside, yes, in theory points classification contenders (sprinters) and GC contenders can be on the same team, however the only example I can think of is VLaB and Wout van Aert at Vuelta this year, but I dont even think it was the primary goal of theirs. Then again, I cannot bring myself to care about VLaB so who knows. And yes, it is just fanfiction, but look. I am weird about realism. Will write about two straight athletes having gay sex any day of the week, but some hand wavy team building? Not on my watch.

So yes. There is that, but as previously stated, I dont wanna separate teammates and, second of all, I was funny at one point in Cycling AU 2 and now I sort of have to have Fernando be on the team. Or well, I don't, it can be Lewis, but Lewis does not fit the vibes of Vuelta to me, and also Fernando is just a much better... antagonist is not the correct term but close enough, when the fic is set in Spain and the two main guys are Oscar and Carlos because consider; Fernando was 100% Carlos' childhood hero in this AU.

So anyways yes, this end of the worldbuilding I have been frying my brain over for the past week ish. Otherwise the teams are pretty easy to construct; Alpine and most of Ferrari together, realistically at least Ollie is there as well, its the quintessential cycling team, there is not necessarily such thing as a historical team in cycling because these teams have very little identity beyond their sponsors, but this is the closest you can get to it. Probably one word title sponsor that bankrolls everything and has been there for years. A very fancy team, posh, Italian, dont you dare try and take Giro away from them they bite. Also Giro is like... the only race they have fancy alternative kits for, they have barely changed their kit design for years, someone take the fill bucket tool in red away from them.

(Giro is a three week race in Italy in April/May. Also I suppose they would have to have alt kits for Vuelta so maybe begrudgingly they do that as well but yk. Begrudgingly)

Team B aka not-McLaren but actually quite possibly yes, McLaren, has more the new kid on the block fresh vibes, good, Lando is a very much a rising star etc etc, but they are also still finding their footing. Oscar is a plucky young mountain domestique mentored by the decently successful former Australian cyclist Mark, Carlos is... well... okay I have no idea what senior is doing in this AU, I think just for funsies we should keep him as a rally driver, but Carlos junior has still as many catholic suffering and vague daddy issues as irl Carlos has. Dont tell me he does not. Maybe not the conventional type but he sure has issues cause of his parents success.

Actually re Carlos, yes senior is still a successful rally driver like he is irl and maybe junior did not initially go into cycling, he just sort of... fell into it. Like he was doing it just to keep in shape and next thing he knew he was getting picked up as if he was a pro and at thet point he imprinted on Fernando and now 10 - 15 years later he has so many issues because of it. Oh Carlos, you fool).

Also also, re Oscar, he is still desperately trying to find is footing in this sport. He is doing good, all things considered, but then there is Lando, George, so many other riders only slightly older than him and already considered generational talents, meanwhile he is lucky if he is a super domestique (domestiques are the riders helping the leader aka the specialiest guy do whatever he needs to do. Super domestique is like the leader and the one who holds out until the very end). He did just switch to a better team that might give him actual options in the future to be a GC contender/leader at some point, so maybe. And yes, Mark is his mentor cause I said so. Mark too in this AU has won a lot, but the white whale of a Tour win has escaped him. Something something Seb is a menace no matter the universe or something idk.

ANYWAY.

I'm not saying the Merc (and Aston) guys might as well be Sky/Ineos but I am saying I've been going so youre basically the same team to Sky/Ineos and Merc since I understood the concept of Merc F1 team so make of that what you will. But yes, close enough. Less floppy then Skyneos irl, but still a team that very quickly became good, dominated for a hot sec, and now is still a force to contend with even when they are no longer dominating. So I suppose two aging formerly successful riders and a non GC classification young guy is realistic.

(Also yes, if they were cyclists both Fernando and probably Lewis too would be retired or at least nowhere near competing at the top, cyclists retire way earlier than F1 drivers do. However, I don't care. I pick and choose where I stick to realism. Go fight my brain, its a very strange place)

Finally team D aka totally not Red Bull... well... you might as well be the Red Bull team in cycling as well. Just like. Switch the guys but keep the results and stuff, yes I am nerfing rbr because Red Bull - Bora - Hansgrohe are sorta shite but rbr lives and dies by its car. And they have no car here. Or anything siilar. Also I just don't like Max I'm sorry. I will occasionally throw in a Yuki mention cause hes the only guy in that camp I care about. Get him out of there.

As for the other teams that I have not mentioned here, Haas guys are probably hanging out somewhere near Ferrari team or on their own, so do the Sauber guys tho maybe Gabriel is in the McLaren team or something, since he used to be a McLaren junior and idk, him in Sauber still feels fake to me if you ask me.

Williams is the real question here. For redacted reason they need to be a separate team I think, or at least the outlines of them need to be separate. Possibly they are the only relevant team that is not World Tour (ie the highest level) but rather a Pro Tour (the second highest). Practically what that means is that they compete the less prestigious races and they have to be invited to the fancy ones through a wildcard. So they are probably a team that was once World Tour, got sorta fucked up, disappeared for a while and now is back as a Pro Tour team trying to get back to the WT heights.

Anyway Alex hangs out there after a very unceremonious exit from Red Bull at the end of 2020, accompanied by all the usual suspects. Latifi, Logan, more that I am forgetting. They are, especially in recent years, considered one of the better Pro Tour teams and one of the main candidates for a wildcard entry in the fancier races especially. Alex in general is probably seen as one of the better sprinters out there and definitely is one of the main draws of the team. Probably every season there are rumors that he is in talks with a World Tour team but nothing has ever happened so far.

Talking of the Sauber guys tho, I'm like... tempted to make Valtteri not a road cyclist but make him commit to the gravel bit fully. Or just made him a road cyclist who does cyclocross in the winter like Wout van Aert or Mathieu van der Poel do irl. So many options tbh. Just like irl tho, he definitely has too much beef with the UCI (for those not in the know, sometime in late 2023 UCI aka the FIA of cycling made a post promoting womens gravel cycling and pointed out his gf Tiffany as someone to look out for and he rightfully pointed out that there is no place to watch womens gravel cycling. Go Valtteri go, womens cycling is quite frankly in hell)

so i think its just a case of - well, for me, i think its just interest to see how the practicalities could be worked into fic. because yes there is info available, but those articles dont tell you how to incorporate the necessities into an actual scenario or story thats still sexy. i just think it would be incredible and so sexy to read a fic (or see a film!) where the nuts and bolts of everything were included. messy, maybe it fails, but yeah. it makes younger people especially hopeful, because it validates the frequent fails of early sex experiences. and thats byler! i know youre working on a fic of their early relationship so I'm sure you'll grace us with some Very Realistic details about anal sex prep and make it poetic in its realism, too. if anyone can, its you! whenever youre ready, im sure lots of us will be happy to read that.

And it's no shade to those lovely, curious, inquiring minds. It's realistic!! It's obviously going to cross the mind, I get it! Maybe, just getting too nitty gritty and acknowledging all the hyper-real aspects of stuff has a twinge of embarrassment, a sort of mindset where it's like, oh I'm enjoying writing about fictional sex and sharing little hints at personal sexcapades, but there are times where I don't want to be seen as a beacon of real advice and especially not become a go-to sexual health educator hahaha. I'm just being silly or creative most of the time.

But... yeah. I can't deny the fact that I do enjoy having my niche being a little bit of a realistic approach to my fanworks. It's pretty fun, because I've mostly dabbled in the ridiculous or lofty before now - but I switched up styles and approach and what I always wanted was an honest sort of insight and writing style. Found it in this fandom of all places, wild. So, yeah. Authenticity. Love that, strive for that. I appreciate the kind words and faith in me!!

Very true though that more very realistic media in general would be super interesting, and I think more things these days are surprising me in positive ways. We do need more realism for many aspects and depictions of the intricacies of intimacy and relationships. For sure. I will say... I do think you and others will find a lot of this in that fic I'm slowly working on. That's why it's gonna take awhile! I think something like that is gonna be more long form if I want to say what I want to say. Of course here's stuff in the fic meant to be hot, but most of it is just... exploratory and trying stuff through storytelling. Depicting how two young men entering a sexual relationship together with very little reference points might deal. Ohhh, it's got awkward moments, it's got not-so refined sex, it's got realism in what is actually happening - I think you'll find what you and others are looking for there. It's my realism fic while a lot of my other stuff does have that typical fanfic mystical world where things just somewhat... gloss over reality to an extent haha.

We OUTSIDE! I was invited to my girl Shayla’s new sim. I used to live on Fakrava island w Wav for so long, its cool to see what new things she got going on. Sooo since my rl bday was kinda low vibes for me, my SL parents spent some time with me and my Dad Ras pulled out his boat for a special excursion! I LOVE exploring SL. Ill go anywhere and have so much fun discovering what people make it brings me so much joy. We got to sail seas that i’ve never seen to a secret beach I never been to before! I was gifted a legit wind surfer and went crazy on the waves while we anchored in this beautiful cove. Pops played some dramatic music the whole time it was pretty epic. I definitely count this day as one of my top best days on SL ever hands down. & I have been here 12 yrs now! Wowza

We also had a dope meeting at Meroe with the team right after. It was cool just to have this fulfilling day and get grounded with my SL life. Everything feels like its back in motion and flowing and all the things I desire, are coming towards me because I finally feel my frequency shifted, with all the inner work I been doing. Its finally payin off! Alhamdoulilah!

I gotta add in, this last minute trip we did to Taj Mahal. It was stunning they def need to make a more permanent version of it! Absolutely impressed by the realism of it I even felt the need to cover up when approaching because it felt too real , there were actual prayers in the walls like im assuming the real place has. So incredible! I am grateful for my SL family, and our lil trips haha.

Reasons Why I Think End of An Era Should Be More Loved

(also known as a long list of why I love this song <3) watch out, this is going to be a pretty long post lol

First and foremost, this isn't a list kind of thing but it will be more of a rant, because Goddammit I love this song and I don't see much people giving it the praise IT CLEARLY DESERVES

So let start from the beginning

The song starts off with an acapella part - (0:00 - 1:10) I feel like almost every Marianas Trench closing song starts with something similar, soft vocals and/or elongated notes that are at a slowly relatively slow pace (which is valid because every song before the closer is a ballad that makes me want to bawl my fucking eyes out). And it always work. It helps set the pace and eases smoothly when the tempo kicks a little higher which brings tension and momentum. This case is no different. I always enjoy listening to Josh sing in this little acapella format, his vocals are nice and clean, and not to mention the lyricism <3 Just the beginning lyrics make me want to swoon "One last cue/from love true/to final adieu" Idk, something about that line just got me !!!dlsk it's so simple yet poetic at the same time his delivery connotating sadness and realism that reflected his life back then. This whole exposition just completely keeps up with the concept of being an 80's coming of age action movie and the rest of the song does not disappoint.

OMG the CALLBACKS and motifs from every other Marianas Trench song

everyone loves to talk about Dearly Departed as having the best call backs to others songs. C'mon we all freaked out in the best possible way when we first heard it. but I really would like to give End of an Era some of that spotlight BECAUSE COME ON!! this song doesn't only have just lyric call backs from the other songs but also their musical motifs and IT WORKS!! like, it doesn't sound tacky nor out of place. It's all fitted so smoothly and seamlessly into the song in a way that makes such musical sense and doesn't stray from the overall tone.

Here are all the call backs that I have found (and let me know if i missed one)

Masterpiece theater - right after the acapella beginning, the song immediately introduces a marimba that plays the beginning part of Masterpiece Theatre III as a musical motif. I freaked out the first time I heard it and I imagine a lot of you guys did too. I was like KDSOFDJS

Astoria - ofc it has to include the beginning song and it sung so beautifully tense compared to it's original. You can clearly imagine that this is ending climax of the movie. the stakes are high and there is a clear thick tension. Calling back to the titular song, through both lyrics and strings, is a way to narrate how far the journey has taken.

Ever After - the haunting "Face the Music/when its dire" background melody ITS SO FUCKING GOOD YALL LIKE WHAT THE FUCK. so all of this literally happens in the beginning. like first its the intro to masterpiece III and then uses lyrics from astoria and then uses lyrics from ever after as background vocals to harmonize with the astoria vocals and IT'S SO GODDAMN BEAUTIFUL and it's so well executed. LIKE I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW MUSICALLY TALENTED ONE HAS TO BE TO COMBINE THREE SEPARATE MUSICAL MOTIFS FROM PAST SONG TO MAKE A NEW SONG THAT SOUNDS FRESH BUT STILL BE RECOGNIZABLE TO THE OGS LIKE WAHAT/? but that's not all folks,, no no no no .

Ever After motif - the AHahAHah AhahAhah (yknow) the singing voice that appears in almost every song throughout the whole Ever After and most prominent in Porcelain. It is woven into the song so beautifully.

Low and Alibis - "I feel so ashamed/wish this was easy" KDLSJFKSDF; this lyric is from Low from their debut album Fix Me. "I want you to know to, this never was the man I hoped to be by now" this is a call back to the song Alibis from the same album. and i cannot even try to begin to describe the absolute ferocity I felt when this part came on. The refer to two of one of their most emotionally charged songs from their debut album and AHHH and in the song, it serves the role as a comparison in the journey. These specific lyrics help continue the flow of the narrative that the song is going by being the 'before' and comparing himself to the what he is now. He had a specific image of himself before and the journey has converted him into something new but ultimately not what he wanted ("this was never the man I hoped to be by now"). If anything, he is expressing the lowest he has ever felt and is brilliantly using lyrics from his song LOW. He's expressing his regret, his sadness, his struggles that he had faced and acknowledges throughout his journey and knows that he does not want that to be the end. And it is such a wonderful call back because Fix Me and those specific songs are sonically but bring this authenticity because these songs are truly part of the 'beginning' of Marianas Trench's journey. It lowkey made me shed a tear

Porcelain (and maybe Dearly Departed) - So at 5:00 - 5-16 is literally just an excerpt from Porcelain (Ever After 2013) but just melodically inverted and LET ME TELL YOU, IF THAT'S NOT ONE OF THE MOST HEARTBREAKING THINGS. In Porcelain, it goes Ahhhahh ahh, then you hear the guitars and drums picking up, and then the lyrics come in "oh, when your heart releases, you won't fall to pieces, you'll let those diseases lie" with nice expressive melody. You hear that same melody in End of an Era but you hear first the ahhh ahh - since it was already kind of in the background for most of the song but it becomes most prominent in this section - and then then that melody with the lyrics "i gave in to sickness, could you find forgiveness, for a dear old friend" and then it kicks it up with the same guitar sounds and drums that was in Porcelain (but accompanied with kickass guitar riffs -- like cmon those riffs are so good!!!) and I'm not sure if this is too much of a stretch, but I think that those specific lyrics are a callback to Dearly Departed. They parallel the lines "in sickness and health" and reference the "dear old friend" that is is a constant in Dearly Departed. I don't really like to pry on people's lives (so feel free to correct me if i'm wrong) but I remember hearing that one of the reasons that Amanda called off the engagement was because Josh got sick at the hospital and was acting drastically different. I'm not sure if his parents' deaths happened around that time or if the cheating was also a factor but i feel like with this line he is referencing that he owns up for how he was acting and gave 'in to sickness' both in a literal and metaphorical sense despite the vows that he references in Dearly Departed (since "in sickness and in health" are part of wedding vows which reference the engagement). This part is just so emotionally and musically complex because what Ramsay is essentially doing is putting on the melody of the love song (tm) underneath the lyrics that reference the what could be the actual breakup in order to make a new meaning and basically use it as a way to salvage it because he still cares and loves her. AND YOU GET THIS FROM LITERALLY A MINUTE OR HALF A MINUTE LIKE WHATTT

After that emotional train wreck that was the middle section of the song, it starts nearing the conclusion with this anticipating climax and when it gets to the top, there's this intensity that reaches and is let out with a scream. and not just any scream, but the one that was in Astoria as a final cry of victory and perseverance, accompanied by amazing guitar riffs, drums and just overall DJSILFJSK ( i don't know how to put it in words) but its all there and it so good and victorious in a way that makes you think that you just watch a glorious coming of an age epiphany and rising to the occasion to finish out the journey and it just truly feels so magical.

Last and certainly not least, the last part. THIS LAST PART MAKES ME GO SO FUCKING FERAL ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY. but

"if we shadows have offended, I hope your heart can still be mended. I hope you know that i don't blame you my dear friend. Always will love you still, but Astoria must end"

The quoting of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night Dream (which i can make a whole analysis in it by itself but the post is already way too long lol) , which is a play essentially about love and marriage. and just the phrase of "dear friend" as a way to acknowledge that his beloved is not just the love of his life, but a friendship that he has cherished and cared for a long time. Using the quote from shakespeare and affirm that Astoria must end, gives it a spine tingly knowledge that this is the end. the end of the journey, the end of the song, the end of the relationship, the end of this era.

and the best part is that this does not necessarily mean that this journey is just about josh and his relationship and real life problems but also his musical journey. Marianas Trench has gone through so many changes, so many sounds, and has given people so many experiences. This song is the song that culminates all that Josh has written, produced, and created into one spectacular musical sound that is their way to leave their old selves behind. They have acknowledged that they have grown quite a bit as well as their audience and they are just saying good bye to this era. i don't know about you guys but I just think this is quite literally one of their bests songs ever and even though I barely made sense throughout most of this post, I hope it brings you more a somewhat good insight on what this songs means to us, the band, and to Josh. <3 <3 <3

Hey, I saw your post about 'asking the Tumblr Skyrim community about a cool idea you had', to paraphrase what your post said- terribly, I might add. I don't think this qualifies as an 'ask', but oh well. -shrug- I decided against fighting with the weird character limit issue in the comments of any given Tumblr post and just came here. PS: I think there's a lot you could do with this, but my biggest suggestion is to create both 'modded' and 'unmodded' character builds, since not everyone knows how to mod Skyrim. And it's not the easiest game to mod even if I've destroyed my game several times by doing so, lmao. As for character builds, you could do a general baseline of your go-typical builds, and then branch off into more niche territory. I mean, you could even go for the humor route or go 'super customizable', I personally dislike modlists that make me utilize every mod on the list, so that might be a fun thing to consider. Anyhow! Just know you've got my backing! Sincerely- A random stranger on internet who sucks at video games and destroyed her game with mods back before Skyrim SE was even a money-grubbing glimmer in Todd's eye. At least it works better on 64bit! :D

I probably would do some unmodded ones, tho they’d probably be a lil bit simpler- mods have been my bread and butter since my brother first showed them to me lol (tho of course with practice writing them, I could probably do some pretty cool unmodded builds)

I have a few character builds rn, and most of them have at least some room for flexibility with skills, perks, gear, etc - I don’t wanna make it too rigid or I’d feel like I was playing someone else’s game, yknow? And at least one of them is almost entirely non-combat and just for fun ;P

And my mod lists are pretty long, but most of them are either personal preferences or just for flavor. For example, I have mods like iNeed on nearly every playthrough, but that’s because I think realism (in the right doses) can be fun - it’s not necessary for any of the builds.
