up there as one of the best pieces of fanfiction ive ever read. god i love when these fics explore asgardian politics and norse mythology. This focuses on loki as king and thor's relationship with him during it.

this is literature disguised as a marvel time travel fanfiction. god this is amazing and has everything i love in this side of the fandom - politics, sci-fi, mythology... it's supposed to have 3 sequels but im not exactly counting on it. its still beyond amazing standing on its own. the things i would do to have a physical copy of this....

An update on my handsome boys in the house doing well despite their ages! Thor has become a lot cuddlier in his middle ages(?) compared to his teen/young adult phase and does this thing where he sits next to or in front of me and bows his head (which he lets me kiss now!), which is, as I find out, his way of letting me know pets are very overdue and I need to fix that right now. Loki method is standing up on his hind legs next to my computer chair and gently pap-papping my thigh, which is his way of letting he know he wants lap time. This boy has never met a lap he didn't immediately fall irrevocably in love with.

Just a random thought but...

Teen! Reader having an emo phase and of course telling the iconic phrase "it's not a phase mom!" to the RoR fam

-Loki couldn’t breathe while you rolled your eyes, arms crossed over your chest with a scowl on your lips, “Whatever.” This, however, got him laughing even harder.

-It had been a pretty quick change, going from pastels and flowers to emo and eyeliner.

-Your family was used to you changing from one thing to another on the drop of a hat so for some of your family members, it wasn’t that surprising.

-Eve frowned lightly, touching your bangs, “Did you cut your hair yourself again?” you couldn’t be rude to her but luckily Loki, who had finally stopped laughing, “Probably, she’s going through her emo phase.”

-You immediately whirled on him, a glare in your eyes, “It’s not a phase!”

-Ten minutes later you were holding you gut, laughing as Loki showed you the photo album of blackmail he had on many of the others, “And here’s Poseidon’s emo phase, didn’t last long but damn did he rock at eyeliner!” Poseidon glared darkly, seeing the old photo, pulling out a knife to threaten Loki to destroy it.

-Your jaw dropped as you pulled out a photo, holding it to the sky and Loki nodded, wrapping an arm around you shoulder, “Yeah, unlike most of us who looked dorky, Odin was perfect!” Odin looked so young in the photo, wearing dark pants with large boots, his beard shorter and he just seemed to scream emo, he looked so beautiful!

-While you gushed over the photo, Odin joined the posse of gods and humans chasing after Loki, wanting the photos destroyed.

-You added your photo at the back of the book, a small smile on your face before you made some popcorn to watch the show.

How Bayonetta x Luka and Bayo3 Makes Sense to Me

SO I just finished the game and while I do agree it has issues I think I know what they were going for (whether or not they landed is debatable) but basically I think the series and the coupling of Bayo/Luka makes sense if you look at them as parallels of each other.

I wanna say two things first before getting into it.

1) I have no horse in this race. I never really shipped anything in series but could see how others shipped what they did and saw them all as pretty cute. My only real bias is I’ve always loved Luka and never got why others hate him (well 3 I can kinda get but thats more poor implementation than the character)

2) I very much believe this franchise is a “You get what you put in” kind of game when it comes to story and lore. This is typical of a lot of Japanese games, Square titles come the most to mind. But basically it relies a lot on intuiting via context clues and how I look at something may not be the way you look or even how the writers meant it, but its’ how i make sense of it. 

Now that thats out of the way. I think Bayo and Luka’s stories purposely mirror each other and shows the evolution of child to adult. HEAR ME OUT

Bayonetta 1: So in this game both Bayo and Luka are in a state of arrested development, neither of them are able to move on and therefor grow. 

With Bayonetta its due to her amnesia. She is unable to mature as she feels something is missing. She can’t know herself without knowing her past and therefor is stuck. The entire game has her thrusted into the role of an unwitting protector and thereby maturing as a result, while also recalling who she was. In reconciling who she was with who she is Bayo is able to move on and grows changing from who she was for the past 20 years. 

With Luka he is unable to move past the death of his father the trauma of the scene and how no one believes him makes him stuck in the past no matter how much he psychically ages. He is still very much that little boy at the lake, I mean the most prominent aspect of his design is the scarf he wore as a child. And like Bayo is being thrusted into the role of a protector to a child and that along with the discovery of the truth forces him to let go of past and grow. 

Like they are BOTH playing at being adults in this game. (this could explain why the sexual jokes lessen with each game though it’s likely more nintendo) They both are acting how they THINK adults should act this is most evident in Luka as he very clearly is emulating his father and there is a conceptual image where he presents a nun a flower as a child just like he does as an adult. Luka has clearly modeled himself after others the way a lot of children and teens do and it isn’t until towards the end of the game that his true self begins to shine. We can infer this in Bayo herself as she appears influenced by the people around her most notable being Jeanne, this being what Baldars plan was in a way. Molding a child to conform to the parents desire therefor the ending is Bayo showcasing her adulthood saying “this is who I am”.

Bayonetta 2: Now this game is about those early stages of adulthood where you are trying to be more adult like, if that makes sense. Of trying to appear more in control than you are, the I’m striking out on my own phase until you realize actually I do need some help. 

With Bayonetta you can kinda see this is her design its the most visibly distinct in the games and can be seen as her trying to push past the child she was. This can also be seen in how despite telling Loki he can call her Cereza he states throughout that she doesn’t look like a Cereza. This is tied into the main conflict of the game with Balder and what happens to many children with their parents. First they are a hero, then a villain, until they can finally see what they really are a person. Bayo at the beginning of the game could never imagine herself calling out to her father in genuine care but the one at the end can. In this game she is  now able to see people for who they really are and I think this includes Jeanne. Despite Bayo actually being a year older than her Jeanne has always been presented as more of a protector and mentor figure to Bayo. So the notion that her being the one to save and protect her this game serves to further show her growth, that she does not need to rely on Jeanne anymore, ending with the two truly becoming equals.

With Luka its more to be inferred as he’s in the game less but I think that is the point. In the 1st his LIFE is tied with Bayo because he needed closure with his fathers death. Since he has it his life no longer revolves around her, he doesn’t NEED to follow her, he’s becoming more of his own person. He’s made contact with Rodin on his own, has his own glasses to see the spiritual. In fact Bayo seems to need Luka’s skills in investigation more than he needs hers. Their interactions in this game are more happenstance than prior showcasing that Luka is becoming his own person. Is he still playing at adulthood? a little but he seems to actually believe his own hype now that he isn’t trying to prove he’s of value, an important step in becoming a true adult. You can also see his growth in his design as while the scarf from his childhood is still there but its far less prominent.

With the two we see a shift in how they interact with each other. Luka has proven himself to Bayo and she is adjusting to how she treats him because of it (but she seems to almost miss the old days as she secretly calls him Cheshire and remarks how much Loki reminds her of him) and Luka is still not use to her actually acknowledging him and being less of a try hard. They are essentially colleagues now, like it or not Luka is a part of Bayo’s world and we see this in how it ends with Luka working with Rodin. 

Bayonetta 3: Now this game is where they come full circle where they are both become sure about who they are and truly become adults and reach self actualization. (Now I play the game with the thought that you are playing the same character played in the last games. However even if you don’t think that this thematic reading still works as what is presented as the previous Bayonettas are said to have lived similar lives to the one in 3.)

With Bayonetta having come to better understand her parents in the previous game she now embraces her past more fully showcasing this in her design that is inspired by the child design in 1. She no longer needs to PRESENT as an adult she is confident in her identity as an adult. In this her main growth is in her self actualization and better understanding of what SHE wants.  This is showcased in how she is essentially training a new witch something only a true professional can do, showing us she has reached the peak of her powers. Once one gets there the only thing left is to pass on your knowledge to the next generation. (What I’m getting at is that the idea that this was Cerezas swan song as Bayonetta is pretty obvious) Her journey is also filled with lives she COULD have lived and deaths that COULD have been hers. This sort of thing leads one to introspection that comes when one reaches adulthood, the notion of the paths we could take and what options are left for us, it also imparts the things that are the most important. (I’ll expand on this is a bit)  Then there’s the ending where after connecting with the alternate Bayos of the game the pervious games Bayonettas arrive and the three fight alongside each other and combine. With this she has come face to face with who she was, with her past and embraced it fully. Whether or not you think you are playing the pervious character, the game makes it fairly evident that the three experienced very similiar lives and the bios indicating that the other two are still on the journeys Bayo 3 has finished. The journey of self actualization of becoming the truest version of yourself, of embracing the person you have matured into. 

Now I know a LOT of people hate the end and while I think it could have been done far better I think I get what the devs were going for. Bayonetta knows if she keeps going she will die but that doesn’t matter she can stop Singularity and thats what matters. She’s sort of following the idea of not caring if she loses she just doesn’t want him to win. And that is VERY in line with with the franchise, you don’t get to choose how I die I do. Like her mother before her she has given her life to protect her child (even if Viola isn’t technically hers) the cycle repeats as it were. And as I said she has no where to go she has reached the peak of her powers and personhood, she is passing on her knowledge, and she is confronted repeatedly with her death. “Bayonetta” dying is really the only way this could end. Do I think it coulda been better? Yes I think the game needed a few more levels, but I also think this was the natural end to the character. Also Cereza might not really be dead just her presence as Bayonetta she can retire that part of her and rest, as she if fulfilled. 

With Luka he is DIRECTLY going through the same thing as Bayonetta the difference is it’s not on his terms. Luka has thought he reached the level of self actualization Bayo has but he really hasn’t, there is an aspect of himself that was unknown to him that he needs to confront. The problem is that part is thrown on him. (I really wish we got more levels for Viola so we could see this more but it is what it is.) He is having a crisis of self, his world and perception of himself is being thrown on its head and he has to come to terms with that. I think it’s important that while Bayo tries to help him through it, it is ultimately another version of himself that saves him and helps makes sense of it all. Once Luka and Lukaon are joined and Luka accepts that there is more to him than he ever thought we are presented with a more refined version of the dork we love (well I love, I know he’s not for everyone). In understanding himself he understands what needs to come next. The world and Viola are more important than his own wants and desires. Luka has become a proper adult, just as Bayo has, this is why he snubs her when she looks for a kiss. It should also be noted that this is the first time his childhood scarf is not an aspect of his design showing that he has grown past it and into himself.

When looking at the two in this game this is the most blatant of their interest in each other. (but was always there like the amount of shit Bayo lets Luka get away with is very telling) Their relationship has gotten closer in the years to the point where he calls her Cerezita and while she claims not to like it its very obvious that she enjoys it. (this is paralleled with Viola and Kitty) This nickname also indicates that he sees her for who she truly is as the only other person to not call her by her birth name is Jeanne. Bayo herself isn’t even all that surprised by Luka’s presence as she just assumes he will always show up which leads into my thoughts on a main complaint I see in the fandom on the relationship. People often say how Bayo’s actions towards Luka in the first half is completely different from the second but it actually makes some sense. See Bayo has come to see Luka as a constant in her life but she likely hasn’t forgotten how long her life is. The idea of pursuing her feelings towards Luka has probably been something she has debated on, like fluctuating between theres plenty of time to do so and maybe even the thought of is it right to as his life is shorter, and if you think this way it makes sense that Bayo has kept a line between them. However seeing yourself die, seeing them die with wants left unfulfilled, would 100% effect her. By the time Bayo’s feelings seem to “Shift” towards Luka she has been confronted with her own mortality multiple times so the notion that she would follow feelings she has had but kept at a distance for sometime is not that hard a push. It is also why that kiss snub happens, seeing him nearly die is the last push to act on these feelings she has pushed back but Luka who has always acted on those feelings realizes he needs to hold back for the first time. Its actually kinda sweet in a way the two have been maturing together over the years but in opposite ways at times, that resemble the other.

I would say the cheesiness of their last scene was a little much but it is hard to tell if the game is literally saying Luka and Bayo are always meant to be together or if its just the two being cheesy which Luka has ALWAYS been. Also just like Bayo paralleling Rosa with Viola its very evident that the creators are trying to parallel Bayo and Luka with Rosa and Balder, the aspect of tragic love that can’t be “together” (again theres an implication that they aren’t dead but might be separated by plains of existence) Once more I think had the game been longer this idea could been shown more but I do think its purposeful. The series does seem to love the idea of the cycle repeating itself.

It should also be noted that the two interact with a companion in each game that shows their own growth. In 1 they take care of a child someone they need to protect and watch over and they need to be gentle with, mirroring their own struggles with healing their inner childs. In 2 they assist a teenager (I know Loki is technically older than both of them but he acts like a teenager) they have to guide and help him but they can’t protect him like a child, he can do this himself and asserts his personhood. Therefor they have to be better and do more to impress and help him than a child requires. Finally in 3 they have a young adult someone who resembles who they were before, someone who doesn’t need them, but someone who WANTS them around and wants to help them. And like most parents with a young adult the focus is on leaving them with the best tools to continue without them. Like the idea of them being parents together was planted in every game so I don’t know why it really surprised people. Parenthood has always been a theme in the franchise and it makes sense to end the series with Bayo’s own child.

I want to say I did not come up with this reading to make sense of 3, this is how I have ALWAYS read the games that it is a coming of age story for adults and I’ve only been more secure in this reading as the years go on and games are added  and my own maturity grows. So while I do think there were probably issues behind the scenes and that the game needed adjustments I don’t doubt this basic story was always part of the plan. To me the lore should be looked at more figurative than literal, its an avenue in which to explore internal ideas and concepts that’s why its always been rather loose. If you get bogged down by lore I think you kinda miss the forrest for the trees.But like I said this is just how I read the series maybe it helps you maybe it doesn’t.

My first antihero, and we started YOUNG on that, I was reading these books premiddle school. I was obsessed with these books as a kid, and I'm still obsessed with them today. There's rumors of a third, more adult series when Artemis and Holly may get together and I will EAT THAT SHIT UP I LOVE THEM

2. Vexen, Kingdom Hearts

I Legit think this man primed me to enjoy Hux as a character. Like, I'm not kidding, I was obsessed with him as a kid. I'm 90% certain I wrote deviant art fan fic, but I have since abandoned that account so it's hard to know for sure if it ever got published. I was definitely roll playing at age, like, 13? way too young but god I loved him he was BATSHIT

3. Ianto Jones, Torchwood

Man, I can't really explain how much Ianto Jones as a character, he and Jack's kiss on screen, their relationship, and the events of the 456 changed me? It was DEEP though, I woke up the next day a different person, with much less trust in television writer's and their good intentions.

4. Desmond Miles, Assassin's Creed

We have to jump a few years to mid high school, because no joke I was on that Kingdom Hearts train for a WHILE. I love him, he was probably my first blorbo, before the term was invented. I tried to play the games after (MAJOR SPOILER) but I just couldn't do it. They didn't have the draw without him.

5. Stiles Stilinski, Teen Wolf

Now we've hit late high school, arguably my second blorbo. As a kid with ADHD, he was no joke valuable representation to me, even if it was sometimes played for laughs. I was also the least athletic kid on multiple sports teams who still tried really hard, so I got him, yknow?

6. Will Graham, Hannibal

It's legit tough for me to chose if I like the Will Graham of the books or the TV show better. (Don't ask me about the movies, I haven't seen them, and I probably won't. Movies and I have trouble. See: ADHD.) I'm not sure if he's a blorbo or just like, a regular character I like? My hannibal phase was my last 8 year ship, so the line is pretty blurred.

Now we've reached the part where I dived into a lot of fandoms at once, because I dropped out of college and kind of did a weird spiral? Idk, we've lost chronology is what I'm saying

7. Artemis Crock, Young Justice

god I cannot say enough good things about her and I also cannot express how much (MAJOR SPOILER) made me mad FOR HER. Like it was cruel specifically to her and we should talk more about that, honestly. She was definitely a blorbo, but we're still PRE blorbo as a word in my vocabulary.

8. Darcy Lewis, MCU

My first real fandom bicycle, I ship her with everyone from Loki to Agent Coulson to Natasha. As someone who often feels like the comic relief character in their own life, I appreciate her.

9. Kent Parson, OMG Check Please

My sweet, sweet disaster son. My emotionally constipated hockey boy. The reason captain america is my SECOND favorite character with a birthday on the Fourth of July. I love him, he was amazing, and also my first experience with like, really toxic fandom was being so mad when people tried to equate his canon mental health issues with a noncanon, imagined abuse?? It was wild, I ended up so distressed about it i did have to leave the fandom.

Loki has aged up to a teen and is a romance sim, to the immense disappointment of Circe and co. Tianyou Zhao - Yakuza: Like a Dragon I have to start with this one, obviously. Who do you take me for? If you have been on my blog for 2 minutes, you know what I'm about. Has a big mouth, handsome, charming. His style. His voice. All of it. Love the "tough guy is secretly a softie" types.

2. Yato - Noragami Yato did nothing wrong ever and I won't hear otherwise. Okay maybe he did and his approach to a lot of things is pretty yikes as he tries to keep Yukine and Hiyori out of harms way. But still. Absolute Trash King.

3. Shorter Wong - Banana Fish I have with absolute fashion disaster icon characters who wear shades, own a restaurant and are gang leaders, okay? He's cute and loyal and I am in denial. Pls watch Banana Fish, it's so good.

4. Bruno Bucciarati - Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (Part 5) He's so caring and driven you will forget how crazy he is as he hides it underneath a layer of politeness.

5. Kaiji Itou - Kaiji Kaiji is one of the smartest and dumbest characters ever at the same time, and also one of the most pathetic ones. He has a good heart and a gambling problem and he never knows when to quit.

6. V - Devil May Cry 5 Something about his bony ass, his tattoos, the poetry reading have compelled me. He is a nice contrast to the rest of the cast and I found his relationship with essentially himself and the others very interesting.

7. Castiel - Supernatural I know. Don't laugh. Yes, I watched all of Supernatural and yes, I loved it with all its flaws. This was actually a hard decision between him and Dean ngl. It was very interesting to watch him go from cold soldier to a caring angel.

8. Demon Salvatore - The Vampire Diaries Yes, I was a teen during the 2010's and it shows. Twilight was peaking and vampires were the shit. All the girls had either a crush on him or on Stefan. That smirk and the bad boy aesthetic got to me.

9. Loki Look, you can say about the MCU what you want, I don't watch Marvel stuff anymore either. But there was a phase and he's still dear to me. If nothing else he got me super into Norse mythology so there is that.

10. Ronan Lynch - The Raven Cycle The only character to represent a book series. Sad, I know. I should read more. Ronan is another though guy who is kind of a softie. Especially for Adam. Also his ability to pull stuff out of his dreams is super cool.

The Mosley Review: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Finally! After a seemingly diminish of quality that was Phase 4 of the MCU, we finally get back to something serious and a feeling of something at stake. I'm not saying Phase 4 didn't have its moments of greatness. Spider-Man: No Way Home, Ms. Marvel, WandaVision, Loki, Shang-Chi and Eternals represent the best that Phase 4 had to offer. It felt as if it wasn't going anywhere or building to something that would payoff down the line. Well this film starts us off in an insanely creative and more direct path that I'm excited to see. What the MCU has done successfully all this time is have all of their films delve into all the different film genres. This entry in the Ant-Man franchise moves away from the comedic heist film genre and dives head first into the science fiction genre and doesn't let up. As a sci-fi fan, I was in heaven with all the different designs of creatures, environments and technology. It may not be for everyone as it does get trippy along the way and a little chaotic. There were moments of well placed bits of comedy, but this film had a mission and it delivered.

Paul Rudd returns as Scott Lang / Ant-Man and he is as loveable and charming as always. He does start out with the same charm you expect, but there is a tonal shift with the character and I loved that we got more indepth with him. Paul brings out the more the self serving flaw of the character and quickly turns him around as he learns what being an Avenger really means. Evangeline Lilly returns as his love interest Hope van Dyne / Wasp and she is as awesome and powerful as expected. Her chemistry with Scott continues to be a bright spot in the franchise and I enjoyed their moments of bliss. Kathryn Newton was great as Scott's daughter Cassie as she begins to join the seemingly superhero family business. Once she was introduced, I was hoping that they weren't gonna take her through the same trope of rebellious teen. They did, but it was reactive to the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame and I thought that was brilliant. The father and daughter story between Scott and Cassie was a highlight and brings out the heart of the film. Michael Douglas returns as Hank Pym and he was clearly just having a good time on this weird adventure. His chemistry with everyone was fun to watch and especially with Cassie. Michelle Pfeiffer returns as well and was outstanding as Janet Pym. She takes the lead in the story and it was fun to see the many layers of secrets about her time in the quantum realm get slowly peeled away. She carries such a weight on her shoulders and I loved seeing that playout amongst her family. Bill Murray was good and interesting as Lord Krylar. He didn't take the comedic route as most would assume and it was actually refreshing. His connection to Janet was also fascinating added a great amount of tension. Katy O'Brian was cool as the freedom fighter Jentorra. She handled her own in all of her action scenes, but at times she came off 1 note and there really wasn't much there to explore. I did love that every character had a part to play in the grand scale of the story, but the real definition of grand came from the film's antagonist. Johnathan Majors truly delivers a regal and yet threatening presence as Kang the Conquerer. There are no quips, no punchy one liners and no gimmicks. He is very cold, ferocious and his dedication to freedom is demonstrated constantly. Majors shows so much conviction to the character's belief system and he carries such a gravitas to his amazing performance. This variant of the character was 100% the Julius Caesar of the MCU and I can't wait to see more of him as Phase 5 continues.

The score by Christophe Beck was fun and on brand with the Marvel sound. I did love the influences of the 1950's sci fi style orchestration and sound. It reminded me of the original Lost in Space series that I watched as a kid on VHS. Visually the film was gorgeous and everywhere you looked there was something to revel in. The creativity of the VFX teams and creature design teams was on the screen and they did an amazing job. I loved that this film got weird in many aspects whether it be the creatures or the story itself. This was a good start to Phase 5 in my opinion, even though I sense that this film will be more hit or miss for folks. There are 2 end credit scenes that lay out a strong piece of thread that'll weave its way through the MCU in many ways. Let me know what you thought of the film or my review in the comments below. Okay, okay, I hear ya. For context, I spent a good chunk of my early teens absolutely drowning myself in tortured Loki fics (I mean come on, its canon they love muzzling the guy) so I'm pretty this is a combination of many different muzzles I've read about.

This isn't set in stone! If anyone ever wants to do something with this, it is completely open to interpretation. I'm just weak to torture muzzles, I guess 😅😅 Enough ranting, heres a list of the first things that come to mind!!!

First, I picture this muzzle only being used when Danny is in transport or out in public. The affects of it do reduce the longer Danny is trapped in the muzzle without a refill

I like the idea of two tubes connected to the sides (flush and incased in the metal of the muzzle to ensure they couldn't just be dislodged) that then connect to Danny's jaw, just right below that point near the ear

The tubes contain a diluted mixture of blood blossoms, ectoplasm, and a light sedative; something that keeps Danny in a constant state of weakness and slight confusion/brain fog on the off chance he escapes from his other restrains

Aside from the tubes, the outer aspects of the muzzle are pretty simple. A white coated metal with green and pink highlights (pink is optional)

The edges of the muzzle are pressed flush to Danny's skin. If inspected close enough, the muzzle actually dips into the first few layers of skin

The inside of the muzzle is... a whole different story, it's not something the GIW can just smack onto Danny and move on.

First, the muzzle has 4 distinct pieces of metal that are wedged into Danny's mouth. The metal loops over his teeth and dig into his mouth (the top two pieces curve over his top teeth and press into the top of his mouth, the other two bottom ones press into the soft flesh beneath his tongue), intended to keep Danny from being able to really move or fully close his mouth (making it hard to even make any attempts of communication through the muzzle)

There is a loop ring connected to the inside of the muzzle, the loop ring is clicked closed through Danny's tongue and keeps it locked in place (The tip of Danny's tongue will be stuck pressed agaisnt the metal the whole time. Someone commented about another story with a barbed tongue depressor. It's tempting, but it feels to savage for the GIW imo and it makes me feel worse about the muzzle if I did that 🤣😅)

Just for purely sadistic reasons (... come on, it's the GIW. They just wanted to) there are multiple like... spikes (?) that press into the skin of Danny's upper lip and bottom lip (like the bits where if you use your fingers to duck lip yourself type of deal) that pins Danny's skin against his gums

The GIW refuse to let Danny make a mess of their showcase (ie like drooling or blood or so on), so there are multiple little holes throughout the interior that do periodically suction the area (often leaving Danny's mouth feeling too dry, especially right after a cycle)

I always imagine the GIW as like extremely sadistic and sleek/asthetic. They care a lot about how well their tech looks without showcasing all of the shit the tech actually does

So no one can really tell how bad the muzzle is until it's attempting to be removed

Random idea I just thought of, but like while the muzzle was in the trial and error phase (and before Danny's spirit was slowly being crushed to nothing), Danny had bit through his tongue one time in a form of rebillion, and thus the muzzle only kept getting worse

Well, that was longer than I meant for it to be 😅😅 tbh I could probably just go on and on. When Danny is showcased, I imagine it as like years of Danny stuck under their care. Like the GIW would not showcase Danny unless they felt they had 100% control of the situation and nothing would go wrong.

Man, I have like a million and one different details and ideas for literally every story post I make. I could spend hours just ranting about it.

This word vomit was literally just done in one sitting, and I'm not really looking over it. So if anything comes off contradicting or confusing, just ask about it! I'm happy to elaborate on some bits or answer questions!

The stunned silence was louder than the rest of the gala had been. Every single pair of eyes were wide with shock, fear, and even concern. The last sound to have left the patrons was scattered gasps at the reveal.

It was meant to be simple. A new up and coming technological company had put all their savings into this. A huge gala to show of the reason the world needed their technology. Needed their help.

No one believed it. Truly, who could have? A large group of men and women dressed purely in white suits, spouting about the threats of ghosts. It was insane and impossible.

Many of the big names that attended today only came for publicity. The notoriety that came with having been there when this company crashed and burned in one night.

It's the only reason Bruce Wayne was even among the crowd. Accompanied by Oliver Queen and his own son, Dick Grayson. As much as Bruce hadn't wanted to be here, he knew his reputation was important to keep up.

That was until two agents stepped out onto a stage they had at the back of the large room. A thick curtain had kept the sight behind it completely hidden from the patrons. Until the moment was right. That was when the thick curtain had suddenly been ripped back, as a third man took a microphone and began to explain.

But his words fell on deaf ears. Especially for the three secret vigilantes in the crowd. Not a single person could tear their gaze away from the cage that now stood in full view.

It wasn't the cage that had everyone enraptured. No, it was the glowing creature curled up in the center of it. No, not a creature. It was a boy. Still baby faced and youthful. Too young to be in a cage.

A high-tech muzzle was securely wrapped tightly against the boy's mouth. His knees pulled tight to his chest, one arm wrapped around them. His other hand pressed tight against the muzzle, seeming to almost be trying to keep it in place.

The boy's toxic green eyes were wide, filled with a clear intensity of pain and terror. There were old tear stains on his cheeks, quickly being replenished with fresh tears. His messy, bright white hair fell into his face. The boy looked both like he wanted to look away, but also like he couldn't. Like he couldn't risk not seeing the threat coming.

It didn't take a genius to see the boy was in pain. Human or not, this went beyond inhumane treat. Making minds racing with thoughts of what else these people had done to the poor boy.

Bruce knew in this moment that this company had just caught the attention of Batman. Based on the look in Oliver's eyes, they also just collected the wrath of the Justice League as well. Bruce hadn't even needed to look at Dick to know he was on the same page.

It went unnoticed by any other patrons. All the focus was glued on the stage, on the lecture and caged boy. No one noticed when Bruce Wayne slipped his phone of his pocket. When he hit a singular speed dial as he turned away from the show. He brought his phone to his ear as he silently signaled his trusted allies to keep an eye on it.

It was early in the morning when she got the call.  Sixish.  The other numbers on the clock didn’t register to her.   

“Hey,” said Tucker, “guess what government agency I just hacked.”

Sam sat up, all traces of sleep gone.  Her hand curled around the wing of the nearest stuffed bat.  “You found him?”

“Sort of.  Ever hear of SHIELD?”

“No,” said Sam.  “Is it part of the GIW?”  Ever since the Fentons came back without Danny and locked themselves in Fentonworks, that had been her biggest fear.

“I found them through the GIW, but they seem to be partitioned pretty well, along with something called HYDRA…”

“What, like World War Two HYDRA?”

“You know them?”

“They were one of Hitler’s science divisions,” said Sam.  “They…  My great-grandparents were rescued from one of their camps by Captain America.”

Tucker paused.  “Funny you should mention Captain America,” he said, the words almost tumbling over each other.  “Because apparently, he works for SHIELD.  Or with SHIELD?  It’s a little unclear, actually.  I’m not sure he’s getting paid.”

“Focus, Tucker,” said Sam.  “How is Danny involved?”

“He’s been mind controlled by an evil clown.”

“What?  Freakshow?”

“No, this one’s green and Norse god themed.  Loki.  Has a scepter, too, though, which is a weird coincidence.  And he’s from space.”

“An evil green clown from outer space is mind controlling Danny?”  That was… an eclectic bundle of traits, even for them.  Like someone had thrown darts at a board of character concepts.  Or took Freakshow, swapped his palette and made him an alien. 

At least it wasn’t the GIW.

“And making him fight Iron Man and Captain America in…  Germany.  Stuttgart, Germany.  Oh, this is live.”

“You have eyes on him?”  She swung her feet over the side of her bed and reached for her laptop.

“Electronic ones, but yeah.  Gotta love the body cam trend.  I’m sending you the footage on a secure link, but I’ll have to delete it, after.  I don’t want to show up if they investiga—”

Sam, having just clicked on the link, swore.  “He’s human, Tucker.”

“Yep, I know.”

“He’s fighting them as a human.  That means they know who he is.”

“Yeah.”

Clearly, the problem with that wasn’t clicking for him.  “That means they know who we are.”

“Crap,” said Tucker.  “Plan?”

“Not much we can do to help Danny, but…  He didn’t hurt anyone in that fight.  Not seriously.”

“I think Captain America cleared thirty feet on that throw, so…”

“Captain America’s abilities are well documented.  He’ll live.  I think Danny is fighting this, or at least working around it.  We can’t trust SHIELD if they’re associated with the GIW and HYDRA, even a little bit, so…  We need to find out where they keep prisoners, in case they catch Danny, and figure out how to stay away from them.  They’re going to come looking for us eventually.”

There was a tapping sound from the other side of the line.  “Ghost weapons will only get us so far.”

“Yeah,” agreed Sam.  “Secret government agency versus two teens armed with weapons that only hurt dead people.  Three, if Jazz gets back soon.  Not much math there.” 

“Objection.  The Fenton Anti-Creep Stick can hurt a wide variety of people.”

“It’s just a baseball bat with the name Fenton painted on it in phase-proof paint.  Not much good against bullets.”  She knelt on the floor and reached under her bed.  After a moment of groping, she pulled out a thermos.  “I have an idea, but I don’t think you’ll like it.”

“Is it some variation of sneak over to Germany and hit Danny with the Fenton Anti-Creep Stick until he snaps out of it?”

“We don’t even know if that will work,” said Sam.  “It didn’t with Freakshow.”

“We couldn’t even hit him when he was with Freakshow.”

“You think that’s changed?  No.  Even if he can’t go ghost for some reason, he actually knows how to dodge now.  I was thinking about a trip to the museum.”

“You’re right, I don’t like it.”

“It’s the best weapon we have access to, and I trust you.”

“I don’t trust me.  Besides, do you really think that a second mind control scepter is the thing we need right now?”

“We need something.”

Tucker sighed.  “How are we even going to get it?  It’s in a museum.”

“I haven’t been able to empty the thermos since Danny’s parents came back.  It’s almost full.”

“Oh, no,” said Tucker.

Releasing the Box Ghost (among other sundry minor animal and blob ghosts) into the museum caused a predictable amount of chaos, especially when the staff sprinted into back rooms and downstairs to protect the archives.  They still used boxes and crates for that, here.  Rookie move. 

“Come on,” said Sam, making sure her hoodie was on and her blaster was primed.  Tucker, with his PDA and ‘ghost noise’ generator, followed behind.  With all their precautions, they’d hopefully wouldn’t be identifiable on the security cameras. 

Duulaman’s Scarab Scepter sat in the display case in front of them.  She raised her blaster and fired.  The glass broke. 

“Are you sure about this?” asked Tucker, hand hovering in front of him. 

“Yeah, but we can try something else if you’re really worried about it.  You stopped yourself last time.  You controlled it.”

“Yeah,” said Tucker.  He swallowed.  “Okay.  I’ve got this.” 

He picked up the staff, and the museum dissolved in a whirl of sand.  They were standing on top of a dune, pyramids in the distance.  Tucker’s fingers looked bloodless from the stress of his grip. 

“Tucker,” said Sam, cautiously. 

“It’s okay,” said Tucker.  “I can do this.  Just.  Give me a second.”

The sand swirled again, and they were in Tucker’s bedroom.  He dropped the staff with a gasp.  A fine layer of sand drifted to the floor. 

“That was,” he said, “something.  I could.”  He covered his mouth with one hand.  “I could take us to Germany,” he said, voice harsher than usual. 

“We don’t know if Danny is still there,” said Sam. 

“R- Right,” said Tucker.  “I need to—I need to sit down.”

Mrs. Foley’s voice rose from downstairs.  “What agency did you say you worked with again, Mr. Coulson?”
