and thinking about how the temple signals as though it was always destined to be this way, that korra was always meant to be the inflection point of eras, and how she heralded the world down this path forged all by herself through her sheer power and spirit, bridging the worlds and forever changing its landscape. she did that! she both opened the old portals and created a new portal in the first 21 years of her life, in opposite of her predecessor 10,000 years ago, and she brought back the air nation despite her tumultuous heart, and she sacrificed so much of herself to ensure their survival. she is so full of love and compassion and care and she has given so much of herself to the world. and she is the starting point for the the new avatars after her and there is so much that she alone can give them

Honestly the swap of the bending brothers' approach to children in the same circumstances they were in is so fascinating to me.

So I've speculated that with Mako this could have something to do with his perception of himself. With his hostility towards Kai being a reflection of him going through some things, and his ability to empathise with Skoochy later showing that he's in a vetter place mentally.

So Bolin somehow getting hostile with Skoochy is so fascinating to me. If he's, like Mako, projecting his perception of himself onto these kids, it might reflect that he is seeing himself less charitably. This may have something to do with potential guilt after working with Kuvira, or with him becoming disillusioned with himself and his life.

Though I could also see Bolin's hostility towards Skoochy having something to do with his newly developed protectiveness of Mako, probably due to Mako almost dying in B4.

Anyway. This makes me SICK

huge pet peeve of mine is if you kill off a beloved character in fanworks (or like. actual works if its the canon story) or even suggest it, no matter what narrative significance this might have on the story being told, you'll suddenly be flooded by a billion people being like 'NO U CANT KILL THEM THEYRE IMMORTAL THEYLL LIVE FOREVER THIS IS WRONG'

Another rant post because I do not have self control but let me tell you about my thoughts on the LOK love triangle because there’s SO many!

So I will be super honest rewatching season one and two of LOK can get painful when I have to deal with the love triangle given how unnecessary it is. I thought to myself “I am so sick of this middle school drama” and then I realized.

Korra, Mako, and probably even Asami, are all basically middle schoolers in teen bodies. STAY WITH ME NOW!!!!

Now we all know my girl Korra was locked up like a sad little prisoner her entire life until the events of LOK. Obviously, she doesn’t know shit about relationships so social etiquette are so out the window.

We don’t know as much about Asami’s upbringing to my knowledge but she isn’t seen to have any friends outside of the Krew. I imagine being the only child of a big time engineer gets pretty rough. It’s very possible Asami grew up with very few friends, if any at all, so she’s also not entirely sure how to navigate we feelings or relationships.

Now Mako. My stupid, grouchy, edgy little guy. This boy has one hundred percent eaten trash out of a dumpster before. My mans was quite literally fighting for his and his brother’s life since he was a kid. He may have physically been around people, but it’s not enough to gain actual knowledge about actual social situations.

Granted, I fear Mako was in the wrong like 95% of the time bro was not about that committed life, but both Korra and Asami had their faults too. I think they’re all just a little silly!!!

And Korrasami being canon is the best possible ending-

10/10 FINISHED WATCHING JURASSIC WORLD CHAOS THEORY (SEASON 1) AND IS HYPE!!!!!

SO Firstly, 10/10, The suspence the Plot, the foreshadows, the twist, and the FEELS!!! God we know it'll be darker, BUT KENJI GOES THE LOK ASAMI SATO ROUTE

if you don't mind, could you explain exactly why you're so anti-pema? it seems like she'd been pressured into marrying tenzin because he wanted airbender kids. idk it makes me feel sorry for her. maybe she thought she was finding true love but really she's just kind of a baby-making machine. what's there to hate in that?

as for lin and tenzin, i think tenzin also had to reciprocate in order to break things off with lin, right? so it's not her fault so much as it is his for breaking things off? (i've only watched atla and lok, so if this is a comic thing i wouldn't know. sorry.)

What pressure? From who? Tenzin was in a serious relationship when she went after him. Was she even on his radar before that? I have never absolved Tenzin of his part what went down between him and Lin, but that doesn't mean that Pema is innocent. I'm a big believer in there being enough smoke for everyone. If a woman (or man) knowingly goes after someone in a relationship, then she is also trash. I don't buy that "oh, I wasn't in that relationship. I don't owe their partner anything" garbage. Maybe the homewrecker doesn't owe the betrayed partner anything, but then the homewrecker is also not owed validation for being a snake.

That's not why Pema gets so much of my disdain, though. No, I don't like her because she encouraged Korra to go after Mako while he was in a relationship. In front of her daughters, iirc. Pema is a pick-me who is trying to teach the girls in her care to be pick-mes. I don't feel bad about her being a baby airbender vending machine. First of all, she doesn't seem all that upset about the situation, aside from the fact that she wants a non-bender baby. Second, she's a pick-me wife. She's going to do whatever she needs to keep her man happy, probably because she knows in the back of her mind that how you get them is how you lose them. Would Tenzin have cheated on her and had more air babies with someone else if Pema didn't want anymore? We'll never know because Pema kept willingly pushing them out until some mystical Avatar mumbo jumbo made all her sacrifice irrelevant.

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

both of these are so funny considering like. out of the entire lok fandom there’s probably like.. what 25% that rlly include her in anything .. think about her.. and then in that 25% faction 80% of that is made up of me and my friends lmaoo. so ANYHOW

i love how given the nature of raava’s role in canon (ie screen-time) we have a very solid basis of her character, but also so much room to extrapolate from that. i love that everyone’s characterization of her gets more room to vary because of that, but that we all also share so many points. my favorites of those are depictions where she’s an unreliable narrator, highlighting the fact that just because she was the “good” spirit, she’s also not GOD y’know she’s deeply flawed, judgmental and skewed toward her own biases, temperamental and sometimes volatile.. etc. and those are all elements we were given in canon, but i mean i love fandom work that pays more attention to these characteristics (also those of us that are big brained and understand she is a feral horny beast of a creature that is most definitely DOMINANT)

i also love that in general .. the majority of everyone is like yah she totally had a human form bc .. it’s fun! and bryke did confirm spirits could do that so i mean fair game. but i really love how everyone has their own design. i love that a lot of them lineup with similarities, and i love when i see completely unique and original ones (shoutout obv to @shadelorde but also a handful of random ones over the years that were much more.. humanoid than human)

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

i feel like anything i despise -which is fr so little since i don’t go super deep into the lok fandom spaces beyond my little trash can subfandom anymore except for every once in a while, so i honestly don’t see very much i don’t like from idk willful ignorance lmaoo) - is just pretty much the opposite of what i DO like.

that girl is NOT perfect no matter what she thinks of herself, or where bryke did y’know fumble the light/dark coexistence concept into too much direct good/bad. i’m also not a fan of anything depicting her as having too much.. control over the avatars if that makes sense? i’ve seen some takes insinuating she would have much more direct influence over the avatars’ lives and choices (mostly seen this about the avatars’ personal relationships) - it very much robs free will and agency from the avatars themselves, and i think is a mischaracterization on raava’s side that she would WANT to assert influence over them to that level. i think she would have wanted all of them to live their lives by their own choices, leaving them to make their own mistakes. of course she’d give them guidance if asked, but never CONTROL. but yah i’m sure there were A LOT of times she had to watch terrible choices unfold and wanted to beat her head against the bars of her enclosure, but i don’t think she’d interfere

and also. of course. as nightmare said in their answers too - she is not a sub… lets all just strike that from the consciousness lmao. the being who yeeted her dark twin across the sky and beat his ass into the ground without mercy… a diminutive soft submissive ??? no way bruv
