Created a logo in under 30 minutes for a demo for a student tutoring project. They gave me 2 shapes and I made the rest.

I designed posters and some merch/related items for a fake museum exhibit at the Academy of Natural Sciences! I also redesigned the logo for extra credit (and think it’s much cooler than the original).
The museum used to have a butterfly exhibit, so I felt that focusing on them again for a new exhibit would be okay despite the major focus being on dinosaurs. There’s a lovely stained glass mural piece in the museum that inspired the idea of Stained Glass Butterflies.
I settled on designing tickets, gift shop bags, cafe cups, and a tote bag based around this exhibit. I might add a few more ideas to the line, depending on the time and motivation I have. I’m definitely printing off some sticker sheets of the butterflies I made, but I also might paint some of the designs on a shirt if I can find a good piece while thrifting.
I entered this project into LOCALLY SOURCED, a competition in Philadelphia and the surrounding states! I won’t know till between October 18th and November 17th if I made it in. It’d be cool to see my work in a magazine with other incredibly talented college designers.
I hope you guys like this set of products I made!

Daily Doodle Day 167
Tumblr media
<- Day 166 | All Days | Day 168 ->
Was on set filming all day today, so I did a mockup for what the fictional bar logo might look like, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

Check out this weird game I totally found in real life and definitely didn't completely make up. Looks like some early 2000s adventure/puzzle type deal.
Okay, it's totally made up. I made the cover, then thought it'd be fun to try rendering an actual game box with it. I tried my best to get it to look as much like a photo as possible. Added some grainy noise and re-exported as a lower quality JPG to try and get some of those blurry artifacts.
Not sure it really worked enough to fool anyone into thinking it's a photo of an actual game, but I can't objectively judge because I went through the whole process of making it and know exactly what parts still tell ME it's a processed render.
ANYWAY. WHY?
A while ago when I was still getting into Illustrator, I made a bunch of fake game title logos that I SWEAR I posted here, but apparently never did. (At least I can't find it under any of the tags I definitely would have used.)
Tumblr media
While I was making them, I did a little bit of mental concepting for what kind of game each one would be. Fantasy RPG is pretty obvious. (I think I even got the font used for the actual Final Fantasy titles.) Generic would have been a standard fantasy hack and slash. Control-V: Repetitive Combat is a generic sci-fi FPS. Quirky The Character is a 2D mascot platformer that's absolutely not haunted or anything.
And finally there was Esoteric. I envisioned a point-and-click puzzle game in the vein of MYST, but more like other games it inspired throughout the late 90s and early 2000s. Pre-rendered surrealistic scenes, and absurdly obtuse puzzles seemingly designed to frustrate pretentious games who think they're too smart for the other games. I definitely put more thought into the concept of this one, and even typed up a very short idea document to put in my "game ideas" Dropbox.
I also actually tried to make the cover art around that time, but I was still fairly new to Blender and it didn't look very good. Even by the 2000s CG standards I was aiming for.
But my recent MYST kick (and looking through my Illustrator projects after switching to Inkscape) brought this idea back to the front of my mind, and I knew I'd be able to do it this time.
Tumblr media
And here it is. Maybe it will exist as an actual game some day.
