➨ Just like any other day, the golden hue of the temple, keeping the Map of the Samadhi Fire away from the wrong hands, reflected onto the sky and created a vibrant gradient resembling the vivacity of the sun. The sight of streams filled with crystal clear waters and delicately decorated with bright pink lilies sitting upon round, floating leaves.
➨ Within the corridors of the temple, through the flaming etchings onto golden architecture and marble walls, Nezha guarded patiently for the slightest unusual activity. The soft breeze from outside sounded so loud against his ears that he listened carefully to any eerie movements that echoed in the temple.
➨ A quick swift of wind was felt on his skin; Nezha drew his spear in a flash and pointed inches away from your face, better known as the younger sibling of the Third Lotus Prince. Nezha sighed in relief before placing his weapon down and out of his sibling’s face.
➨ “Y/N. . .Please don’t startle me like that. What if I have seriously injured you.” His body loosens from tension before staring back at you with sincere eyes. His face may not show it, but he feared what would have happened if he proceeded. You only gave your older brother a sly smirk in response.
➨ “I was only testing your reflexes. Nothing else.” Out of the pair, you were the more free-spirited and lenient compared to your older brother, which created an interesting dynamic between the two of you.
➨ Again, Nezha remained stoic during his patrol, and you stood beside him without saying a word. Nezha looked at you and decided to speak. “Aren’t you meant to be guarding the entrance? What if someone gets in and tries to infiltrate the temple?” Nezha reminded his younger sibling about their duties while speaking gently yet solemnly.
➨ You wiped off your smirk and replaced it with a faint frown. “I understand Nezha. It’s just that I don’t want these duties to take away time from you and me being together, alright?” Ever since the Samadhi Fire has been contained within the rings and located far away, you and Nezha have spent little to no time together outside your workspace.
➨ Nezha paused for a minute and thought about what you said. He could understand that sombre look on your face. Then, his hand began to lean over and rested on their shoulder before giving you an optimistic look. “Listen. After completing our duties today, I promise we will go someplace. Somewhere peaceful and relaxing.” After hearing those words, you couldn’t help but hug your big brother and hold onto him tightly.
➨ Caught off guard, Nezha was surprised by your reaction over a small promise but slowly gave in and hugged you back while cracking a small smile. As your happiness was his happiness, and he will do anything to be the best brother you’ll ever have. Once the both of you let go and returned to your stance, you smiled and spoke again.
➨ “What do you want to do when we’re finished? Check out the mortals down on Earth or get a bit mischievous~” You then gave Nezha a smug look that reminded him of a certain simian. Nezha groaned the minute he saw your face and looked away briefly.
➨ “Y/N, please stop smiling like that. You remind me of Sun Wukong.” Your older brother said before looking back at you and your usual smile. “I know. That’s why I use it so often.” In a teasing tone, you made the smug face again, leaving Nezha to look away again.
➨ “I know, and I hate it.” He spoke through clenched teeth, holding in annoyance, and you chuckled in amusement. Despite his younger sibling's immature behavior, he couldn’t help but adore and cherish you more than anything.

That last little part is a funny little over dramatic way it might go.
Oh, you are COOKED. (Do pardon my use of brainrot language...)
CW: mentions of murder...obviously
The first thing they do is isolate you in a room and keep you there for a while until they figure out what to do with you (and so you can think about what you've done).
What happens next? Therapy sessions, which they all agreed on.
Don't worry, you will tell them everything, specifically Bruce, since he's the one carrying out the therapy sessions.
"Why did you kill that person?"
"How do you feel about it now?"
"Do you regret it?"
"How do you feel after our conversation?"
He pities the person you ended up killing and feels a little disappointed. A life was taken by you, an innocent person's life. He didn't raise you like this, did he...?
However, he also pities you. Unless you are trained to kill someone, it breaks you. He's seen it so many times, people commiting murders and then panicking, breaking down, because they couldn't live with the consequences of their actions.
You're a mere civilian, how could you ever have been exposed to that kind of environment? How could he let this happen? No, it is his fault for waiting so long before saving you from the world. He will teach you why it's wrong. He will make sure you heal and never take another life again. After all, it is his job as your father to guide you in life.
That's right, the only reason you could've done it is because you didn't know any better. You are a mere child in this old, cruel world, after all.
In the end, he holds himself accountable. He should've done better. He should've protected you better from the cruel world you live in.
Dick would be shocked. His little birdie, his angel, killed someone? Impossible. You're so innocent, like a baby, so how could this be true? He would take some time off to come to terms with the fact that you're not the kind of person he expected. When he comes back, after a week, he seems slightly distant.
With time, following your therapy sessions, he will return to his normal, clingy, annoying self. However, you can't help but wonder why he was acting so weird that one week.
Despite the fact that he also kills people, Jason is incredibly suprised and disappointed after hearing that you killed someone. Unlike everyone else, he feels anger. You're so young, so innocent, you grew up in a place where murdering someone was not necessary, so why would you do it? He doesn't kill people because he wants to, he only does it because he needs to. But you didn't need to do it.
That's what upsets him most. You chose to do it. You willingly took a life.
Despite being so hurt, so broken, he still feels an ounce hesitation when killing people, so how come you, someone who didn't go through what he did, could kill someone in a situation that wasn't even self-defense? Nothing could possibly justify it! And here you are, proudly announcing it to them. You should be ashamed.
He kills murderers, so what should he do with you? Does that make you as bad as the criminals he kills? God, he doesn't even want to think about it.
Jason won't get over it for at least a month. He'll be very distant around you and won't be seen smiling for a long time. Towards you exclusively, his behaviour becomes incredibly bitter. In fact, he's the one who most strongly encourages Bruce to carry out the long, grueling therapy sessions. He really thinks it'll do you good...
Tim's reaction would be more mild than expected. He would certainly feel uncomfortable with the fact that you seemingly feel not an ounce of guilt or regret. However, he wouldn't change his behaviour too much for too long.
During the first week, he'd be a bit more careful with his affection towards you. No, it's not because he's scared. He simply wants to observe you and see how effective the therapy sessions are. If he feels that your attitude towards murder hasn't changed, he would encourage Bruce to be more intense during the therapy sessions.
He would be more careful with the activities he offers you, since Bruce called a meeting with everyone to establish more rules, those being directed at Tim mostly. Tim's "cool, lenient older brother"-act needs to change.
From now on, no crime films or shows (especially not any violent ones), no crime documentaries, no crime or detective books, no vular language, no threats towards anyone or anything and for at least 14 months, no leaving the manor.
This change will probably be permanent.
#woah this was longer than planned#ahhh lmk if you want the other family members' reactions too but im too busy to do more now#yes “he didnt raise you to do this” even though he didnt know you (in person)...#or at least you didnt know him...#rorii talks#dc comics#x reader#platonic yandere#platonic batfam#yandere batfam#batfam#tim drake#jason todd#dick grayson#yandere tim drake#yandere jason todd#yandere dick grayson#yandere bruce wayne#bruce wayne#yandere x reader#yandere#batfam x batsis#batfamily x reader#batfam x reader#batfamily#batfam x male reader#batfam x female reader#batfam x batbro

Unloved Beloved
One person already shared their idea for @itsabouttimex2’s platonic yan AU, “Not The Beloved” (go check it out if you haven’t already) so I’m here to share mine too, inspired by their “Not The Beloved” fic. An ‘what if’ scenario if you will.
warnings: spoilers for lmk season 5, gender neutral reader, child neglect, parentification, favouritism, yandere platonic/familial characters, kidnapping, likely OOC writing.
Following close to canon, Xiangliu was the one responsible for MK’s egg hatching prematurely. Thus, also allowing for the Shadowpeach family to finally have their perfect monkey baby!
One day for whatever reason, Xiangliu ends up on the Flower Fruit mountain. Recognising where he is, he decides to pay a quick visit to the little harbinger that he had set free.
He didn’t have to look for long, as he noticed two small, monkey silhouettes on the beach. Approaching them, he immediately recognised MK, the little ball of sunshine as energetic as ever. He played with who appeared to be another monkey, only somewhat much taller than him in stature.
However, upon closer inspection, Xiangliu realized that it wasn’t another monkey that MK played with. As the young child took off their hood, the demon was met with a pair of innocent, large eyes that stared back at him.
A human.
Curious enough, he approaches you both. Despite your cautiousness about this strange new face, you easily let your guard down once he convinces you that he’s an old friend of Sun Wukong’s.
He quickly learns that you’re MK’s older sibling and Wukong’s and Macaque’s adopted human child. When Xiangliu asks about your parents’ whereabouts, he’s surprised to learn that both of them are away. “And you’re taking care of the little one all by yourself? Your brother sure seems lucky to have such a reliable older sibling,” he comments. He doesn’t miss the way you try to hide your frown and then nod along.
Naturally, Xiangliu doesn’t stick around for too long. He leaves and once your fathers return, you mention your father’s “old friend” visiting and describe him as best as you can.
Not recognising anyone by that description, Sun Wukong and Macaque brush it off as you having an imaginary friend.
As for Xiangliu himself, he had to admit that he didn’t expect for Sun Wukong and his mate to be present at the right time to adopt the future Harbinger of Chaos. Or that the Great Sun Wukong would also adopt a human child beforehand. Knowing the potential risk to his plans if the Harbinger was being raised by the Monkey King and the Six Eared Macaque, the nine headed demon decides to drop by more frequently.
He knew that he couldn’t directly approach baby MK. The fact that Sun Wukong and his spouse were fussing over him would mean that he had no opening for talking to the mystic baby monkey without having to talk to them.
And that’s where you come in like a blessing.
By befriending and gaining your trust first, Xiangliu could indirectly learn more about what the rest of your family has been up to. He’d have to put in a little effort not to be noticed by your fathers, sure, but as long as he could use you to keep an eye on MK’s development under the Great Sage, it’ll be worth it.
In the next few years that follow, Xiangliu has observed the dynamics that were in your family in order to befriend you. To him, it became obvious fast how there was a clear favoritism directed towards the youngest child in the family. Of course, he’d use that distance that your fathers were making to let himself close to you.
Each time you were left alone with MK, Xiangliu would appear. Knowing that your parents considered his existence just as imaginary, he decided to play under that guise. He made sure to always remain friendly towards you and MK, offering to play with you both. The best part of all of it to you was that he didn’t treat you differently than MK.
Along with your friendship with Xiangliu prolonging, he started to notice how your fathers’ treatment of MK started to affect you further into your childhood. He didn’t have to intertwine or even talk to you to see it, since your fathers didn’t have to put any effort in making it more obvious.
Whenever he’d attempt to talk to you alone, you’d have to apologize, saying that you’re too tired to talk. The reasons being going to school and then having to babysit MK. It seemed that your fathers completely forgot how the demon toddler’s stamina was much more vast compared to that of a human child.
And when you weren’t tired, it was during the times that you had your fathers drag you along to wherever MK wanted to go. You never had time to talk to Xiangliu anymore or to even do your own hobbies.
And like a salt to the wound, the demon could also see all the brand new gifts that MK had each time he’d have some time to observe the boy. Compared to him, you still had your hand-me-downs from your Papa. It didn’t help that along with them, patched slits for nonexistent ears and tail remained on those clothes. Like a cruel reminder to the reason for your father’s selfish treatment.
It was baffling how both of your fathers prioritized your brother’s feelings over your being. Your entire existence was limited to wherever your parents decided that MK needed something more.
When you tried to reach out to any other adults or to any other kids about your state at home, you were either brushed off or met with disdain. Other people in your life told you to grow out of it and stop being ungrateful. You were the adopted child of Great Sage and his loyal partner, after all. What more do you want, when you already have what many other children don’t?
The more he watched, the more that Xiangliu started to feel an ounce of remorse towards you. While he watched your social life crumble due to having to put MK’s needs before your own, he started to wonder if he made the right choice by letting the boy be adopted by two enabling monkeys.
One time, he caught you quietly crying to yourself. With no one around, Xiangliu had a rare opportunity to comfort you.
“I hate it! Everyone keeps saying how I should be grateful for being adopted by the great, famous warriors like baba and papa… but-! It’s like they don’t love me. Not as much as MK anyway,” as you sniffle, the demon reaches out to stroke your hair.
His touch is gentle while he watches you with a stern frown.
“You must really hate MK, don’t you child?” Xiangliu asks, “To be completely robbed of your freedom, all because both of your parents prioritize his wishes and needs over your own. That must’ve been so difficult for a child like you.”
As you wipe away your tears, you look at your ‘imaginary friend’.
“I… I don’t,” you admit, “It’s not that I hate MK, it’s just… I-I don’t like how both baba and papa brush me off. When I tell them I’m too tired, I can rest only after all of us go to the arcade that MK wanted to go to. I can’t even play or go to my friends on my own! MK always wants me to play with him or else he’d get upset. And both of them hate to see him cry…”
Xiangliu was quiet as your lower lip started to wobble again. More of your tears fell, making the nine headed demon pull you in a hug.
“It’s not fair, it’s not! Why do they care more about what MK wants? He always gets anything he asks! But I want new things too! Why do I have to work for them and MK doesn’t?!” you wail. “Why is MK their favorite?! I didn’t do anything wrong!”
“Oh, I know, I know, child…”
“It’s not fair, it’s not fair!!”
Feeling his resentment for your family growing, Xiangliu doesn’t say anything. He just lets you cry your little heart out.
Once you’re all tuckered out from crying, Xiangliu has no heart to put you back in your bed. He was still fixated on you, safe and peaceful in his arms. Your tear stained face and swollen eyes were something that he couldn’t look away from without feeling resentment.
As a so-called hero and warrior, he couldn’t help but to laugh bitterly each time Wukong referred to himself as your baba. Xiangliu saw how many clones he summoned to take care of MK the moment the boy got sick with the slightest cold. Yet he nor his partner could spare one glance at you, who was waiting for them while being late to school.
He hated the way Macaque missed your potential over the sake of training MK. While he taught the boy how to shadow travel, he completely missed the way you tried to get his attention by trying to perfect one of his signature moves. He only ever patted your head and told you not to bother with it, while going to then teach and praise MK for trying that exact same move.
It seemed that the privileges from Nuwa never left MK, despite him abandoning his shell. The more he observed the young boy, the more Xiangliu grew bitter.
Because of his parents, the boy is gonna grow up with a need to be a hero. To live up to the ideal that Nuwa and his own parents had set out for him.
All while you were used and left behind, like an unpolished gem meant as a gift for your brother.
He recognised that your brother was attached to you. He might be the only one who pays attention to you, besides Xiangliu himself. But, he is also the reason others miss seeing your true potential. You were still young and unwilling to accept that little MK was the true cause for your suffering.
But, that’s where a demon like Xiangliu can help.
He watched you be sidelined for far too long. Your fathers never gave you a chance to experience what you could’ve been, they just kept you restrained to what you should be for your brother.
Irony of it all was that once long ago, your fathers were the one who rebelled against the whole Heaven. And now, they were keeping their own child in a gilded cage while simultaneously undermining your wants and needs, just like how Heaven did to them.
Just like how Nuwa did to him.
He was done watching you suffer your fathers’ foolishness.
Black tendrils now surround you both, it wasn’t long until Xiangliu had you both teleported from your room. And even so, when he glanced over your unconscious form, you were still sleeping and unaware.
Far away from those disgraceful fathers, demanding younger brother and that tropical prison that you’ve been forced to call home, now with him you’ll finally be free. Soon enough and with him by your side, you’ll be able to reach your full potential.
No matter the sudden change in his plans, Xiangliu knows that having you here with him will prove much more fruitful later down the line. And as for your family and more specifically, your brother….
It was too late for him to fix what’s already been done with MK. But he knows, he’ll be able to help you set yourself free.
By sharing with you the freedom of what only the Chaos can bring.
ending note:
It's been so long since the last time I wrote something. I hope that it wasn’t a boring read, lol.
Also, I should mention, I hadn’t finished watching season 5 so I have yet to see what else is going on, buuut I had to get this fic idea out of my system, so yeah.
Thank you everyone that stuck ‘til the end!

LMK Characters As Queerplatonic Partners (GN Reader, Pt 1)
Genres: Platonic || They/them pronouns for reader || No warnings needed
A/N: not all the characters in the below image will be used, it's just a good image to display the whole cast
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁⋆˚。⋆୨🌈୧⋆˚。⋆✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖
MK:
- MK seems like the type to be very physically affectionate with everyone, including his friends (if you're alright with that) so he'll likely always have an arm around you or keep contact with you in some way
- You get invited to every hangout he has with Mei and you quickly become a solid member of their chaotic dynamic. MK even offers to get you a similar jacket to theirs with whatever design you want
- You've got complete free range to MK's room, snacks, and all his collectibles. He trusts you enough to give you slightly more privileges than Mei (like infinite sleepovers)
- He might whine about it from time to time, but he genuinely appreciates if you make sure he's taking care of himself while being a hero
- He brings MOUNTAINS of snacks for movie nights or marathon binges and always tries to retrain himself from eating too many of your favorites
Mei:
- She hypes you up so much. Almost everything you do she gives full enthusiastic support on, and even offers to livestream whenever you wanna do something particularly cool
- She offers to give you lessons on her motorcycle with a customized helmet for you
- She tries to make sure you're always having fun, but she knows how to dial it back when things seem to be getting out of hand and will get protective of you in an instant
- She gets less worried when you visit her home than she does with others cause she trusts you to be careful and respectful. Her parents really like you as well and are supportive of you two
Red Son:
- The best way to sum it up is he's really trying. Affection in general isn't something he's used to, so receiving support and understanding from you is something he might not seem to appreciate initially
- With time, he learns to relax around you and see you as a big pillar of support in his life. Truth be told, he was always a little worried that his temper would drive others away. Having you around means a lot to him
- His frustration is nowadays directed at others, being protective on your behalf and commanding others to respect you
- Always offers to do things for you, uses pampering as a form of affection and will indulge you within reason
Wukong:
- He honestly hadn't ever heard of the term before, but he's glad to try it out with you
- He's really missed his Journey companions, so having someone he's so close with and can feel vulnerable around fills a long-lingering need
- He let's you touch or play with basically any artifact you can find around his home, though he might occasionally plop a baby monkey on your lap to keep you from getting bored
- He wants you to go basically everywhere with him and be a travel buddy whenever you're both out together, it reminds him of the Pilgrims and brings him comfort
Macaque:
- It takes him a really long time to feel comfortable enough to warm up to the idea, but once he gets used to you, he's realizing just how much he missed being this close to someone
- He's surprisingly clingy, even if he'll never admit it or try to act like he's too independent to need contact. In reality he really likes if you're always close by him
- He can get a little wary of you at times due to past experiences, but at the end of the day he's learning to trust again, and your support means the world to him
- Usually gives you a sort of starring role in some of his shadow plays, but he'll try to be coy and say it's just a character inspired off of you or a coincidence
Chang'e:
- Loves absolutely every second that you visit. She tries to show you all around the moon, everywhere she's made a home for herself during her time up there
- Generally very sweet and supportive, but she will gently sit you down and talk to you if she feels like you're maybe getting ahead of yourself
- Takes a lot of care into making sure you're taking care of yourself, she insists a lot on making your every meal, which are usually made extra special
- Sometimes pushes back working on her show if it means spending more time with you. The moon is rather lonely, so even if she seems happy and upbeat, there's an undeniable relief at having you around

i know there’s a lot of this same prompt on this app but i love your writing and i would love to see it from you <33
OK!! Macaque and Wukong with a gender natural reader which simply LOVES their fur and gets really clingy on their tail and ear(s for macaque :3), treating them like a literal plushie
monkie plush!
— wukong & macaque, gn!reader
i feel the need to personally apologise for how many months it took for me to post this <//3 i've been SO SLOW recently,, i can't guarantee i'll be getting any faster, either
heheuwudhhey!! none of u should worry about sending me an ask with a 'common' prompt—just because someone else has done it before, doesn't mean i won't want to write it!!! i like giving ppl my own opinion on these sorts of headcanons LOL
;; fluff, fluff, and more fluff!! (+mention of something more spicy, but nothing explicit)...
WUKONG
- he RELISHES in any affection you give him, and he isn't afraid to show it.
- you'll come up behind him, embrace him while rubbing your face in his fur, and he will MELT.
- leans back into your arms, wrapping his tail around you to pull you even closer; and, if you're listening closely, you might hear quiet purring.
- honestly, he'll do the same to you — compared to monkey hair, human hair is VERY soft and feels very nice :3
- cuddles between you two are just constantly rubbing your faces in each others hair.
- i can also imagine that his tail would be sensitive, as most monkey's tails are...
- be careful, though, because certain areas of his tail are more sensitive than others — you may run into a situation you didn't mean to...
- ...ANYWAYS
- while i can imagine him being the big spoon a majority of the time, he could TOTALLY be a little spoon.
- he enjoys being able to hold YOU, since he likes feeling in control, and as if he's protecting you, but he'll happily sit back and let you cuddle him.
- play with his hair, twirl his tail, brush him...
- tbh, the other monkeys would probably join you a lot, interpreting it as a grooming session.
- me and the boys [monkeys], grooming each other on a sunday morning.
- he will complain, though, if you don't let him cuddle YOU sometimes.
- you two are almost sickening with the amount of PDA you show; cue MK pretending to puke in the background, but Wukong does have SOME decency, and will get a little embarrassed if you take it too far.
- if you're both out in public, chilling in Megapolis or something, and you start rubbing your face in his fur and cooing at him? he'll go red pretty quickly, and shyly respond with small affections in an attempt to sate your clinginess for now.
- this especially goes for being around people he feels the need to keep a reputation up with — like, the brotherhood, although most of them would laugh it off, they'll tease him for it at some point, or anyone from the celestial realm.
- he'll make it up to you later with plenty of cuddles, but for now? he's gotta look cool and tough in front of lil' old Nezha /j
MACAQUE
- hes touch starved as hell (we all know it).
- BUT he gets shy when it comes to affection, but he's hypocritical about it...
- constantly drapes himself over your shoulders, resting his head on top of your own when he gets the chance, etc etc.
- however, if you DARE even try to hug him, he's gonna get real nervous.
- doesn't know how to properly relax at your touch; he may not exactly move away from you, but he won't lean into it (at first).
- this especially goes for PDA – he loves you, but not now; he's gotta look cool and mysterious at all times.
- if you're with people that he lets his guard down around, he'll be a bit more playful with you.
- he notices you attempting to sneak behind him for a cuddle attack? next thing you know, theres a familiar cape-covered arm thrown over your shoulder, blocking your affection with his own with a teasing smile.
- he IS different when in private, though !!
- more willing to give in to your touches, but it is clear that he's unsure how to feel about it.
- after a while, though, i feel that he would learn to find a lot of comfort in your hands ?
- like, if he's had a rough day, he'll probably seek you out to be showered in affection,, in a way, it makes him feel very loved and worthy.
- he's such a little spoon too, i'm sorry LOL
- but he has his confident days, just ask and he'll be happy to be the one holding you instead.
- it took a while for him to be comfortable with normal affection, yeah? well, it's gonna take even LONGER for him to be comfortable with touching his ears, let alone losing the glamour on them.
- the day he lets his glamour down around you, is the day he's decided that you're stuck with him forever, sorry to break it to you...
- his ears are VERY sensitive, so please be careful, he's very cautious with you touching them.
- but he'll never admit how nice it feels for you to massages his ears, especially with how much stress they give him from the loud noises in the city (not that you can't tell, he's practically melted into your lap and would ABSOLUTELY be purring if he could).
- overall, it takes time, and he won't ever be fully comfortable with PDA, but he's a big softie in private <3

All The Right Moves!
Chapter 1 : Celebi
The Time Travel Pokemon. Celebi wanders across time. Grass and trees flourish in the forests in which it has appeared. It has the power to travel across time, but it is said to appear only in peaceful times.
It was supposed to be a simple mission. Go in, clear out all the newborn Espurr that were causing a ruckus, and get out.
Sylveon had been a huge help with herding all the Espurr into one group, but an especially ear piercing cry and psychic blast that could rival a Noivern’s Boomburst ended up summoning Celebi, of all creatures.
Celebi.
And you had no clue what happened next, other than the fact that you were silently praying to the Order Pokemon before a giant psychic attack attacked you and rendered you unconscious in an alleyway.
Which was… strange, to say the least. The Ranger Organization should have picked you up and brought you to the med bay to have you and your Pokemon assessed, but instead you ended up in a dark and admittedly disgusting alleyway in a bustling city.
At first, you thought that the blast somehow threw you from the forest in front of Parfum Palace all the way to Lumiose City, but when you stepped out into the light, you were terribly wrong.
The city had tall buildings, with none of the Kalosian charm that Lumiose had, and the signs were all written in a strange language you’ve never read before, let alone seen.
“What happened…?” You muttered to yourself, and you noticed that Sylveon had also gotten up to look around curiously.
“Syl…” He looked all around the place before his gaze landed on you, and he stared at you bug-eyed. “VEON!?”
“What? What is it?” You ask, and he begins gesturing to you, like, all of you. Using his ribbons as some funky charades.
“What are you doing? If this is some joke you got, it’s not funny.” You deadpanned.
Sylveon continued his charades, this time more frantically, but because you obviously don’t believe him, he groaned and grabbed your arm before dragging you out onto the sidewalk. “Whoa! What is it?”
Sylveon ignored the weird and curious glances that civilians shot at him and his trainer, and pulled you to the nearest window and pointed at it. “Ve.” He said.
Confused, you looked at the window, only to see you but… yellow? Why were you yellow? You turned your head, and the window mirrored your movements. You held up your hands, which were just claw shaped, and your legs and feet were rectangular.
“What just happened?”
“Syl Sylveon!” Sylveon exclaimed, finally glad you noticed that he wasn’t pulling your leg like he normally does.
You turned away from your reflection, seeing that the many civilians going about their day also had yellow skin, claw hands and rectangle legs, some even had different shades of colours, like red and blue..
‘This is strange.’ You think to yourself. ‘Where are we?’
With nothing to do except take in your surroundings and try and find out where you ended up at, you begin walking around the city in hopes of finding someplace to go and figure out where you are.
You let Sylveon hold onto your arm with his ribbons as you walked along the sidewalk of the strange city, still getting odd glances, but there weren’t many, and Sylveon managed to unnerve them with a glare to stop their staring.
You hadn’t walked for long until Sylveon became intrigued by something and had led you to a restaurant. You deadpanned. “Really Sylveon? Food? Now? We don’t even know where we are– AH!” You were rudely cut off from your scolding when a young man burst from the entrance, delivery bags in his arms, yelling back at someone.
“Sorry!” The delivery man apologised as he got into his dinghy little vehicle and rushed off.
“Well, that was kinda rude.”
“Syl.” Despite his nod that matched your slight Kalosian pretentiousness, Sylveon was more interested in what was inside the restaurant, so he dragged you inside.
You paused when you saw a human in a chair eating noodles, and a Grumpig-looking man behind the counter waving a spoon around angrily. The two stopped upon seeing you and Sylveon.
“Uh, sorry for bothering you?” You say first, more confused than apologetic, and the Gumpig man’s angered look changed into a smile.
“Welcome in, customer! Take a seat, I’ll take your order in a second.” The chef gave the human a glare before heading to the back kitchen, meanwhile the bespectacled human slurped his noodles while looking at Sylveon with a curious look.
“Ve?” Sylveon looked at the brunette with a heated, offended glare, making the human nervous smile and divert his attention back to his book, sweating as Sylveon continued to send him the nastiest glare imaginable.
“Sylveon, don’t be rude.” You said in a scolding tone to the Fairy-type, who simply stuck his nose up arrogantly. “I’m sorry about him, he’s just a butt.”
Sylveon let out an offended noise, but you ignored him in favour of striking up conversation with the man beside you as you waited for the Grumpig chef to return.
The man, who had introduced himself as Tang, was a scholar. And strangely enough, he had never heard of Sylveon before. You assumed it as just a regional difference, maybe they didn’t have Eevee or any of its evolutions here? But no…
He doesn’t even know what a Pokemon is.
Which struck at all of the red alarms in your head. At first you thought that they just didn’t even have any Pokemon here, but that wouldn’t even make sense, they should still know what a Pokemon is, even if they don’t have any.
You were snapped out of your mini crisis when the chef returned, wiping his hands dry on a rag. “Sorry ‘bout that. What can I get ‘ya?” He asks, leaning on the counter casually, sparing a slight glare at Tang.
You looked back at the menu. You… hadn’t really considered what to buy, but Sylveon seems to be at least one step ahead as he yoinks the menu from your hands with one ribbon and points to a food item with the other.
The chef looked at the spot before saying, “Chow Mein?” Sylveon nodded erratically and you sighed and nodded in agreement. It was… better than nothing you suppose.
“Alright, coming right u–.” He froze when he heard a sliding noise, and everyone looked over to Tang, who had pushed his empty bowl away from himself, wiping his mouth with a napkin. Feeling stared at, he looked back with an equally nervous and smug smile.
“One of these days I’m gonna ban ‘ya.” The chef growled as he took the bowl from off the counter. Tang just nodded dismissively, as if knowing he won’t get banned, despite the threat.
Sylveon thought he was weird.
A semi-awkward silence came over the two of you, that type of silence where you wanted to strike up small talk, but neither wanted to, but it was fine. You absentmindedly began petting Sylveon’s head. He yelped with a disgruntled look on his face, moving so instead you were stroking his back. “Sorry bud.” You muttered, Sylveon waved a ribbon in response.
It took a short while, but your noodles finally arrived. The bowl was filled to the brim with noodles, as well as other vegetables and ingredients. You thanked him before grabbing the chopsticks to eat with them. You haven’t used chopsticks in a while, having used them while at Sushi High Roller for your Ranger Leader’s retirement party a few months back, which led to your friend and superior stepping up, leaving you as the second-in-command.
You were suddenly struck with the realisation that you were technically MIA, with probably no way of contacting your Ranger Agency of your whereabouts.
The long and short of it, you’re screwed.
“Woah!” You yelped as you were set off balance by Sylveon, who greedily began munching on the noodles in the bowl. With a brown, you grabbed him by the scruff and sat him back down. “No, Sylveon. You can’t just eat from the bowl.” You look around and find a cup full of green tea, you must've been too distracted by the noodles to notice it. You took it and chugged the tea before putting a bunch of noodles in it and handing it to Sylveon. “Here.”
Sylveon looked grossed out, but the small taste he had earlier overpowered his brain, and he began chowing down on the noodles, letting you enjoy yours in peace.
All the while, Tang had been slitting his attention between his book and staring at you and Sylveon, a stranger in an even stranger red costume-esque uniform and a small quadruped fox-like monster who was admittedly cute, but really just a jerk.
As you were eating your noodles, the young man from earlier burst through the entrance with a raven haired girl with green highlights. You and Sylveon stuck to yourselves as they all began talking about the staff the young man had… that was able to extend and retract. You would have dismissed it until Tang began fanboying over the staff, talking about ‘DBK’ and ‘Monkey King’ before all running out, leaving you and Sylveon in the shop.
“Uhh, what?” You blurted out, confused.
“Veon…” Sylveon growled as he finished his noodles, annoyed that they had just been left in the shop. What kind of customer service was that!?
Sylveon had finished his bowl before you, but seeing as how he was eyeing it, as if he were planning on stealing it from you, but since you weren’t exactly hungry after your sudden realisation from earlier, you just gave the rest to him and he ate it happily.
“Now what…” You pondered to yourself. Your food was almost finished, but the chef was no longer present, not even his seemingly only employee or Tang. But you couldn’t just leave without paying.
Sylveon, however, had a much different idea. Seeing your inner turmoil, he smirked, finished the noodles and jumped off the seat. You watched him, curious as to what he was doing, only for him to take your arm with his ribbons again and begin dragging you away from the restaurant.
“Sylveon, hold on! We can’t just leave!” Oh my Arceus, Sylveon’s gonna turn you into a criminal!
“On!” Sylveon chirped back, totally unfazed by the fact that he was causing you both to dine and dash. The Fairy-type Eeveelution was incredibly strong, way more determined than he normally was to get out of somewhere.
He kept dragging you around the city, both of you looking around cautiously yet curiously. Every turn you took had more citizens stare at you both, especially Sylveon, reminding you of how Tang was very confused about Pokemon, and how this world probably doesn’t even have Pokemon.
If this truly were another world… but seeing as how you were a yellow person and there were no Pokemon around, instead replaced with these bland appearing creatures, the theory you concocted in your head didn’t seem too far fetched.
As you got yourself lost in your thoughts, the looming doom of your situation returned tenfold. You were in a world with nothing you knew of back home, no Pokemon in tall grass, no Trainers lining the routes, the lively world you inhabited is now replaced with one that was as boring as it was nerve wracking.
Noticing your panic, Sylveon tugged your arm harshly, snapping you out of your funk with a yelp. “Ow! Sylveon, not cool!”
The little mischief maker giggled innocently, but his smug grin showing off his tiny fangs showed that he enjoyed what he just did.
He continued dragging you around, and everything was as fine and dandy as it could be for you both. You reached what appeared to be a district of abandoned buildings, from offices to apartments, you looked down at Sylveon then back up at one of the apartments.
“Oh my Arceus, Sylveon, you’re a genius.” You mutter in realisation, finally understanding the method to his madness.
“Ve-on.” He replied back with a prideful grin, as if to say ‘I know’. He released your arm and ducked under the caution tape before trotting along the abandoned streets of this district. You rushed to follow him.
You both walked along the middle of the road, you following your partner, and Sylveon seemingly looking for something, which with the way things were going, you hoped was a place to stay.
The ground then began to rumble harshly, the stray rocks and pebbles on the ground shaking and jumping from it all, and you looked around in confusion. Was it a horde of Diglett? Perhaps a burrowing Excadrill.
“Veon!” Sylveon pointed at the city and you saw… a giant, purple, bipedal Tauros? It was wearing strange armour, and it was obviously no good.
“What is that? What do we do?”
“Ve veon.” Sylveon said, shaking his ribbons in an ‘absolutely not’ way before pulling you into the nearest abandoned apartment building. It had major amounts of water damage, so you supposed that this entire part of the city was closed down due to some previous flooding and no one has picked up the reins to fix it up or tear it down.
Your distraction made it so Sylveon went ahead, she approached the elevator and pressed the up button.
It didn’t work.
Cue you having to grab Sylveon’s ribbons before he pushed the button through the console and made it even less repairable.
“The elevator isn’t working. We should take the stairs.” Sylveon groaned as you walked to the staircase, him having no choice to follow you up. The more stairs you went up, the less the water damage there was, and when you made it all the way up to the top, the floor was relatively spotless aside from a thick layer of dust that caked every corner.
Upon seeing the fancy hallway, Sylveon brightened up. Forgetting his overdramatic breathing as he finally made it up, he bounded down the hall to the fanciest door.
The door was missing its locks and some hinges, so Sylveon managed to open the door with ease. The apartment was more like a penthouse, spacious and fancy looking, making you feel unwelcome. Sylveon was undeterred, scampering about until he found somewhere to plop himself down.
You followed him, finding yourself in the living room, with Sylveon napping on an exquisite lounge chair. You decided to sit on the couch. As soon as you did, the ground rumbled again, startling you both.
Sylveon growled, shaking a ribbon like a fist before going back to nap without a worry. And you decided that napping was also probably a good idea.
Maybe this was all just a weird dream made by the Espurr, who knows?

hiii! I was wondering if I could request MK having a crush on his coworker?? For example like- Reader works as a waiter in pigsys and Mk admires them a little too much
Can you make it spicy too in a way?? Sorry if that sounds demanding 😭😭
Yhank you!! Have a nice day<333
waiter, waiter! one serving of my heart, please (mk x reader)
content warnings: gender neutral reader, second pov (you/your), reader and Pigsy's relationship is strictly professional/no solid relationships between them, mk is in love
author's notes: twas a bit hesitant to write this cause it kinda reminded me of an asshole i once met in my older server bleghhhhh :< also sorry, i couldn't make it spicy agh
MK remembered when you first walk through the door. It was another Tuesday afternoon, bored out of his mind after another day of delivering noodles and saving the city. He'd only just returned, filling in Tang about the demons he came across while Pigsy made something in the kitchen.
And you were there. A bit dull-eyed compared to what MK remembered, but still wearing that smile he'd grown so fond of. You'd raised your hand in greeting, asking for the owner of the establishment you'd enter.
He remembered being too dazed to really focus on the conversation. All he knew was that he'd call for Pigsy, then spent the next hour or so watching you from a corner. It wasn't until you had taken your leave did he realize to ask, and he turned to Pigsy for answers.
“Oh, don't look at me like that.” Pigsy had sighed, sliding a bowl of freshly cooked noodles towards him. “You've been busier than ever with your training. And since we don't want a repeat of last time―” Last time meaning the clone incident. He still couldn't get over obese Delivery Clone trying to eat Pigsy… “―I figured a helping hand around here would do the trick.”
MK pretended to pout. “So you're replacing me?”
“No, dumbass.” Pigsy threw a wet cloth at Tang. It landed with ease, and the scholar whined. “Just that you don't have to stress too much about not doing enough around here. (Name)’ll work in your free time, and you theirs.”
It didn't seem like too bad of an arrangement. There were days he couldn't be around, swamped with training or some monster that wouldn't leave the city alone, and Pigsy would need an extra hand to help around. He could've asked Mei though, but he figured that the pig demon also wanted to offer employment to anyone in need of it.
It's just that, while MK had eaten his noodles and stared through the window to past the time, he really thought you were interesting, and the plans Pigsy had meant that, most likely, neither of you would get to speak together.
And that sucked. Because, once MK had the idea (and mere audacity, to quote a certain hot tempered bull prince) of befriending someone, not even the Buddha could pry the thought from his head.
Which in turn, lead to certain events, as of now. Hanging around during his own breaks to catch a mere glimpse of you, trying to play off the ‘cool’ hero act only to have his own staff knock him over in the process, god awful flirting attempts (seriously, those lines were bad bad), to name a few of the things he'd done. That wasn't even mentioning the times he accidentally held you up during rush hour, earning a scolding from Pigsy and customers that were completely rude to you and made MK feel so guilty in the aftermath.
With that last one, you'd think that such behavior would be enough to put anyone off. No sane adult liked getting yelled at for actions that weren't their fault, especially from their boss.
By the gods, you were a literal saint. And MK would be damn well lying if he said he wasn't head over heels in love, and that was saying something.
But, no. You still smiled at MK every morning when clocking in for work, and you still laughed at his bad jokes and horrible flirting lines. The rare off chance you two spoke, you were always so nice, not even bringing up the fact he'd gotten you into so much trouble over and over again.
“You're going on your lunch break?” He asked, waiting outside for you to show your face once again. Today had been his day off, but with Mei busy and the city surprisingly peaceful for the time, what better way to spend it than with you?
The question was a bit…too obvious, honestly. Of course you'd be going on your lunch break at this hour, how would he not know when he worked for Pigsy at the same time?? Plus, it's not like he hadn't hassled Pigsy before about your work hours and the time you'd take your breaks so…
You raised your head and glanced at him, nodding slightly. “Yes. Would you like to join me?”
In his head, MK was jumping for joy. He had been planning on asking you if he should join, but then you went right ahead and invited him first. This was progress at its finest, and MK was nabbing at this opportunity faster than lightning.
Just as quickly, he responded, “I mean, if you wouldn't mind me, I don't mind! Like, if you want me, haha….”
He could imagine Mei looking down at him in disappointment. <Seriously, confidence is key. You're the Monkie Kid, what do you have to be worried about!?
That was easy for her to say! She was always cool, unlike MK who'd embarassing himself in front of you so many times….
Lost in thought, he hadn't realized you'd stopped walking until he nearly tripped over a table. You had the kindness to grab at him before he fell, offering your sweet, signature smile while he took a seat, nervously laughing.
“So….”
“So…”
How awkward. MK played with his sleeves, watching you pop open a box of noodles from Pigsy and eat. How the fuck do you even start conversations again?
As if you read his mind, you raised your head and gave him another smile. How he wished he had a notebook and pen around, if only to sketch you with such a peaceful expression.
“You can speak, if you'd like,” you said assuringly, picking up a mushroom from your bowl. MK was never a fan of vegetables, but watching you stick it into your mouth made him wonder if he should try eating some. “I'll listen. ‘kay?”
So thoughtful. “O..okay…”
And boy did MK speak. He chattered endlessly about anything that came to mind, gauging how you reacted carefully. Sometimes, you'd finish chewing to comment or too, other times, your expression would change with whatever he was talking about, nodding along in agreement with his peeves and then shaking your head when someone else supposedly did him wrong.
At some point, he'd completely trailed off topic, staring at your lips wrapped around your chopstick. He was technically still yapping, except that now―
“What did you just say?”
He blinked.
What…..what had he been talking just now? Was it something that upsetted you!? Fuck, he's such an idiot, allowing his mouth to blabber―
“You…like me?”
….
…
MK stood to bolt.
It turned out you were a lot faster than you gave him credit for. You had already grabbed him by the collar, yanking him backwards and onto the seat―this time, next to you.
“MK.”
Dear god, he wanted to disappear. Why hadn't Monkey King taught him one of his 72 transformations?? Fleeing from this situation would be a whole lot faster….
“MK.” You repeated his name, turning his head to look at you. “I heard you, you know.”
MK sighed. “Listen, I'm so sorry―”
“Why? Who said I didn't like you too?”
“―like, I know, I know, you're not here for relationships or any of that sort, and I shouldn't―what did you just say?”
You smiled slightly. “I said, I like you too.”
“Oh.”
“...”
“...”
And then MK fainted.
“MK? Are you alright?”

🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊
————————————————————
Being stretched so thin makes it difficult to be where I am in the moment… It’s hard to be everywhere at once, all the time…
Those are words that Bèiké has said more times she than could count. Words filled with exhaustion and a reality she had no choice but to accept.
Her mortal mind ever the servant to the very thing she immortally personified.
Part of her often wondered if the universe had made a mistake. Should she exist as she is? What if the water was just supposed to just stay water?
Why have a body? A consciousness?
Why possess a human heart?
The human body is such a fragile form to hold when you are Water.
As she lounged in a plush pillow-nest that filled a luxurious room within the palace of the Water Curtain Cave, her thoughts cause another morose sigh to escape from her. Which - in turn - caused a disgruntled chirp to rip her from her thoughts as she turned to face her ever wandering attention back onto her Simian Stone Brother.
Who, in turn, stared at her with sulking expression.
“Your mind wandered again.” Sun Wukong stated matter-a-factly. His tone as grumpy as his expression. The Great Sage not liking being anything less than the center of attention.
Instinctively, Bèiké’s mind filtered through a hundred possible excuses before she settled her mind and sighed. “I’m sorry brother… it’s hard to be here today.” She answered honestly.
Sun Wukong blinked. His expression loosing its annoyed grouch as he moved to sit a bit closer, getting in her space until their knees touched, his hands went to grip hers. She tensed at his proximity but didn’t move away, allowing him to initiate contact.
For all his foolishness and impulsive nature, he what he wasn’t was dull-witted.
“Hard-to-be-here as in, within this cave? Or hard-to-be-here as in, being in a body?” He gave her hands a gentle squeeze. Having known about her mind’s struggle to exist within her human form for a while now. Having found her dangerously dazed on more than one occasion when she had come to visit him and the Phoenix Maiden on the mountain of Flowers and Fruit he proudly called home.
Her mind had been so scattered that she neglected the body she - for reasons unknown to everyone accept the Buddha - possessed. She’d forget to eat, forget to move, forget to breathe, and in extreme circumstances, she’d forget to make her heart beat.
Her eyes would be open but staring at sights that weren’t in front of her. Sun Wukong had been forced to jerk her consciousness back into her body on multiple occasions, even biting her harshly to shock her out of her dazed state. Kick-starting her heart back up.
He had - back then - harshly scolded her for allowing herself to get to that state until he had learned just what had caused it. What she was constantly fighting. What she was eternally trying to hold together with no breaks or reprieves or mercy. He pitied his sister as much as he found himself begrudgingly admiring her.
Now, she stared at his hands as she tried to focus on the Monkey King in front of her, not the rush of the water curtain cave as it beat the rock into submission, not focus on the fish swimming through the veins of the river or the clouds overhead moving as though on a breath.
She tried to focus on the soft fur, not the whales casting their bubble nets to catch fish on the other side of the world, their songs vibrating her ears. Or the blood running through the creatures of the worlds veins as they ran, or slept, or played, or fought, or-
A louder chirp made her flinch back to reality as she met the glowing ember eyes her brother ever possessed, staring at her with more than a little worry.
“Is it getting harder sister? Tell this Sun Wukong and I will do what I can to assist.” His stone calloused hands rubbing over her arms in an attempt to ground her, his nails gently scraping and pinching against her skin. Trying to comfort her in the way his people do.
She sighed and closed her eyes, allowing herself to be grounded as she leaned forward slightly to rest her forehead against his. His heat a steady anchor against her normally cool skin.
He cooed at his little sister. The sound reverberating from the back of his throat. For all his playful nature and mischievous tendencies, Sun Wukong, the great sage equal to heaven, was a good king who cared for his people. And he had claimed her as one of his. His nature wouldn’t allow him to be anything less than attentive to the woman he had taken as his younger sister.
So he took it in stride when his normally reserved and touch-adverse sister gripped the fur on his upper arms.
She gently rubbed her nose against his. “Forgive this Bèiké, Wukong. You should be anticipating the celebrations for the Day of your birth, you only have 4 full moons left… not worrying about a woman slowly going mad.” She released the hold she had on his fur with a sigh. “I can hear the voices of the water calling me, I don’t think I am strong enough to fight them anymore… do you blame me?”
Wukong nuzzled his forehead against hers with a soft coo. “Of course not dear sister. You’re forced to stretch yourself thin, I can’t blame you for something you have no control over. Go and rest. Regain your strength so that you can better worship this Sun Wukong later.” He grinned and gave her ear a chaste nip, hooting out a laugh when she flinched back and glared at him. “As you say, there are four months until the day of my birth is here. I expect great presents from you for my birth celebrations. An offering as great and handsome as I.”
She blew out a breath in his face to get him to back further away from her, which he did with his own flinch that left her chuckling. “Worry not brother, I plan on gifting you a treasure that will surely enhance your glory. Mayhaps it will also grant you some humility.”
“How dare you, insolence! I am a Pious Buddhist.” Wukong guaffs, crossing his arms, scowling but happy she’s feeling better enough to play with him.
“Yes and the Lady QuanYin throws celebrations every night for the inebriated.” She rolls her eyes as she gets to her feet. Finally giving into the urging of her voices in her mind commanding her to return to the sea.
“Your faith in this Sun Wukong is lacking sweet sister.” He pouts, snapping his teeth at her.
“I simply see the truth of you dear brother.” She smiles back at him as she steps to the Water Curtain, visibly relaxing as the spray drizzles across her skin.
She turned to give him one last hug before she allowed her physical form to quite literally melt away, rejoining the water curtain, then the river, then the ocean. Where she expanded to a vast nothing that was everything.
It was much easier to think when she didn’t have a physical form. Flesh, bones, organs and a functioning brain are complex and hard to maintain. It was much easier to exist when she didn’t need to worry about feeding her immortally mortal body, or keep track of her limbs, organs and senses.
The waters, or more specifically, allowing herself to rejoin the waters gave her clarity.
And she took advantage of that clarity.
The celebrations of Sun Wukong’s birthday for one. She already had an idea of what she wanted to gift him.
The storm summoning whistle and the abyssal armor.
Both grand and glorious and would be useful to him in his battles should he need to regear up to defend his kingdom.
Useful gifts, gifts that will give her brother a fun gleam in his eye. Gifts she knew Sun Wukong would love.
As whales sung in the distance, sharks made their migrations, carp fought their way upriver, children played in the streams, rain rehydrated the land and all the other things the waters of the world did, Bèiké thought about her families and friends, and wondered what they would do next.
And she tried not to think about how it was getting harder and harder hold her body in its physical state. Her chest painfully tight, her lungs stuttering.
She didn’t want to think about a fact so scary it had left her weeping in her hidden rooms on more than one occasion.
She may be immortal… but her body was failing.
And nothing could stop it or slow it’s failing down.
She didn’t know when it started, if she had to put her finger on a specific timeframe. Perhaps it was always that way and she only became aware of it the past hundred years or so. Or maybe it was just a switch that day she grew aware of her mind becoming more and more disoriented.
And as vast as the knowledge in the ocean was, there was little that could be done to stop a human body from being crushed by it.
But she didn’t want to think about that.
So she forced her wandering thoughts back to what she could get for her friends and family when she returned to her palace.
————————————————
🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊
————————————————
Bèiké remembered the first thing she ever heard. She didn’t know when exactly her consciousness had begun, only that she had one day become aware of the fact she had one.
“There you are, what a beautiful child you’ll become. Welcome to the world, Maiden of the Worldly Waters.”
The voice had been masculine in nature. But gentle and happy. The voice one should associate with a person meant to be a mentor or a guide.
She had known with a certainty she didn’t know she possessed that it was the Voice of the Buddha. And she had decided she liked his voice before she even knew what it was to ‘like’ or ‘dislike’ something.
The ocean is old, timeless and ever shifting, No one truly knows exactly how old the Waters of the world are.
By the time that thought occurred to Bèiké, she was already a part of it. And to have a consciousness be born of the waters is an unexplainable experience.
Bèiké remembered the first time she opened her eyes.
She was in the deep ocean, the light far away but still visible. She felt so small yet far too large at the same time. She felt powerful yet small, loved and feared, wild and free.
Her first act had been to head to the surface, the light had been so beautiful from under the waves and she had wanted to see it up close.
The first time she stepped out of the water and onto land it was a wild storm. She laughed with the thunder and danced in the rain. Making it dance around her in turn with nothing but the mist to cover her modesty
The world felt so alive.
She can’t recall now how long she had danced. Only that when the storm had finally calmed, she was back in the middle of the ocean, the waves creating flowing skirts around her hips and her hair covering her chest to flow into the waters as pearls formed to begin adorning her.
She was sitting on top of the waters, leaning back to watch the clouds when they arrived.
She remembered thinking how pretty and bright their armor was, how delicate their movements. The bright objects they held gleaming in the light and appearing to glow - she’d later learn that they were called swords and spears, weapons. - And they guided down a Man and a Woman to stand before her.
Bèiké remembered thinking that the man’s clothes and hair were radiant. And that his brow was stern.
The woman, similarly, was a stunning beauty. Something about her felt familiar to Bèiké, and even without the older woman saying a word, the maiden knew in her heart that she was fond of her.
The conversation had been brief. Having been so long, Bèiké struggled to remember exactly what was said,l that day, but they held curiosity and caution towards her. Bèiké, in her innocence of being newly formed and freshly capable of speech, and done little help relieve any suspicion.
When she simply told them she was water, that they stood on her body, that they held her within them, it was the older woman, who introduced herself as the Lady Mazu, who confirmed their suspicion.
The Lady Mazu was delighted, and took the maiden as her own right away, giving her the name she most popularly went by. “Bèiké” little seashell, her precious ocean gift. Encouraging the Jade Emperor, to agree.
———
The time in the jade palace had been a time of great learning, how to read and write, proper speech and posture, songs, poetry and dance, palace life and hierarchy, avoiding the empress and her secretive glares and false niceties.
Bèiké was kept busy
So busy, that it took a long time for the whispers to be heard.
She remembered when it happened the first time.
A dinner banquet for one of her brother’s promotions had been coming to a close. Beike had remembered being on edge all day but not knowing why. Her precious attendants, Tian Shui and HeHua were similarly concerned.
It had snuck up on her, like a snake hidden by shadows, coiled and ready to strike. Bèiké had no idea the danger was so close. Perhaps that was why it had snuck up on her with such success.
It wasn’t a trickle of sound that steadily grew louder, no. It had been a cascade. The dam bursting and the floodgates flying open.
Beike had collapsed holding her hands over ears, trying to block out a torrent of sound that was coming from her mind.
Rushing through her like a wild river and a riptide combined. The crash of noise that left a single repeating message in the front of her mind.
“I must return.”
She didn’t remember her body fading or her return to the water. Only that when the sound finally, finally stopped, and she was able to open her eyes once more, she was deep in the ocean. The only sound she could hear was the beating of her own heart.
Relief.
The rest was a blur, vaguely aware of dragons, great, shining, metallic beasts coming and checking on her on behalf of her royal family. But even the exchanged worse were fuzzy at best. Eventually she was able to “Wake Up” again and come out of the waters and she was later told she was gone for three weeks.

————————————————
She had learned since the day of her brothers promotion banquet, when the crescendo washed over her and forced her back to the ocean for over a fortnight. She had learned the signs to look for and the whispers to pick up on.
It didn’t completely disappear the problem, however it made it more predictable. She knew when she had to return to water, to listen to the voices before it was too late and the whispers went from a whisper to a scream, a small request to be heard to a deafening demand to be obeyed.
Instead of a tidal wave of noise that appeared all at once, it had in time become a creeping whisper that steadily grew louder at a much more tolerable rate.
Still…
It was easy to get lost in the whispers of her own nature. The waters from around the world, the clouds above growing fat with rain, the ebb and flow of the waters over the land, the last dried breath of the parched to the gasping struggles of the drowning. The rivers widening and bending, the lakes and ponds rising and falling.
Life ever moving, water ever flowing. And her mortal, human mind struggled to keep up.
It was getting worse…. How frustrating.
“My Beike!”
She jumped back to her body and blinked at her adopted mother, the Lady Mazu’s eyes fixed on her with worry, her hand clutching hers in a grip as tight as her delicate hold would allow.
Bèiké gripped her skirts as she forced her attention back to her present body.
“Mother, I am here.”
The goddess of the Sea and guardian of sailors looked at her daughter with eyes filled with doubt and worry. “…Are you?”
Bèiké sighed, unable to lie to her. “For the moment… I’m sorry mother.”
The Lady Mazu furrowed her brow and gave her daughter a chastising look. “Naughty girl, why must you make your poor mother worry so?” She sighed, gently ran her fingers through her daughter’s hair, untangling the pearls that inlay the long sea-colored strands before gently cupping the young woman’s cheek. “I am worried for you dear, I fear that I see less and less of you. And then when I do see you, I can’t entertain the joy in my heart because your eyes are still far away.”
Despite knowing it wasn’t truly her fault, Bèiké still felt guilt tighten her chest at her mother’s distress. “I have failed you mother, I haven’t been filial. I beseech you to forgive your foolish child.” Bèiké pressed her cheek into her mother’s touch, her hands soft and warm, soothing, grounding.
“Oh you silly girl. How can I blame you? I should be the one apologizing.”
Bèiké sucked in a harsh breath and flinched back. “What? No! Mother you mustn’t, I should’ve never put you in this position of worry.”
Lady Mazu simply sighed and and summoned her regalia, sitting up straight, fixing her skirts and holding her head high. “I am the mother of the sea, I can sooth storms and protect sailors, I am a guide, a saint and savior…” her face filled with sadness again. “Yet I can’t sooth your mind, I can’t guide you home… I can’t protect your heart. You must forgive your helpless mother.”
Bèiké shook her head, unwilling to let her mother take the blame for her. “My lady please, there’s nothing to forgive, I have never blamed you. Mother. I owe the person I am today thanks to you.”
“Oh my sweet child. I only wish I could fix your mind.”
The conversation had then turned to more light-hearted topics after that. Mother and daughter catching up and Bèiké happily gifting her mother with precious treasures from the deep, enriching her palace evermore. Doing her filial duty to the woman who adopted her as family.
They both tried to avoid the forbidden topic of the Pearl Maiden’s mind.

🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊
————————————————
It started a month ago with a single storm.
Bèiké had been swift to quell it. But it had devastated all the same.
Not in damage or loss of life. No.
In fact, since it had been in the middle of the ocean, nothing had been harmed. It was devastating in a far more subtle way.
Bèiké had had no control over it.
It had been created without her conscious control, and despite being water, it resisted her command.
That shouldn’t have been possible.
She Was water.
Quelling a storm was a simple to her as raising a hand above her head. And yet…
She felt fear take root in her stomach, her hands shaking as she kept them clenched to her chest.
She was losing control…
What did that mean for her? What did that mean for water? Her mind scrambled to find an answer but there was none to be had.
She had been far too frazzled to return to the Jade palace, she couldn’t risk the courtiers, the eunuchs, or even her precious attendants observing her in such a state.
But in desperate need for some sort of connection, something to stop the torrent of panic flooding through her, she went in search of it among people who wouldn’t judge her for being anything other than the gentle princess.
And so it was, that she had found herself on the mountains of flowers and fruit. And Sun Wukong, though surprised, had welcomed her into his home all the same.
“Pray tell brother - and you mustn’t judge me for this query- but say you feel like you’re loosing control over your body. How would you handle such a dilemma?” It was a question Bèiké had casually asked the victorious fighting Buddha hours after they had sat for dinner. Wukong’s limbs had been loosened with his favorite wine, he had been coming down from his more festive mood that had started the evening with his people.
Still, he gave the question some serious thought all the same… or as serious as the wine allowed him to be.
He answered her as he fell back, draping himself across her lap and putting her hand into his golden mane, demanding some head scratches. She obliged him as he answered her, his eyes shut and the smile on his face content.
“I would try to think about what could possibly be causing this body of mine to be so bold as to disobey its master.” He grinned all teeth. “If I came up with nothing, had no pompous trickster cursed me, had no imperious scalawag tried to poison me somehow, I would simply assume it was an internal issue and I’d open myself up to take an intimate look.”
She blanched as she looked at him. “I don’t presume you’re being metaphorical in your words.”
Wukong hooted out a laugh at her expression. “I take it Brother Wujing and my dear Phoenix didn’t tell you the story of the three insufferable Tao priests who presumed to be immortal?”
Bèiké slowly shook her head as she resumed his head scratches as his whined persistence. “No, I don’t believe anything involving Taoist priests came up.”
Wukong shrugged. “Well, it’s no matter, this Sun Wukong can happily give you a demonstration.” He jumped out of her lap and hopped to his feet. “Little monkeys! Go get this Old Sun a sharp blade! Watch as your great king demonstrates his greatness!”
Bèiké insisted he didn’t need to prove his immortalities to her of all people, she was there for the aftermath of Lao Tsu’s furnace incident afterall.
However Wukong was already too deep in his feverish mania to be stopped, he wanted to brag and show off, and so he would. Bèiké doing her best to not be obvious in her looking away.
She had politely excused herself shortly after getting him drunk off of his favorite wine again so that her departure wouldn’t be noticed.
Well that had been…
Graphic…
Fruitless in answers as well… she doubted ripping herself apart to look at her own insides would enlighten her to the answered she desired.
She couldn’t even hold a physical form for long, let alone focus long enough to disembowel herself. Wukong was mad she decided, utterly mad. Not that that was really surprising news to her.
Still…
As her heart thumped audibly in her chest, she laid a hand against it as she found herself thinking.
As the waters churned around her, and she felt her control slipping bit by bit as the sun began to brighten the sky once more, she contemplated…

🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊
————————————————
Bèiké huddled in a corner of her room, her head in her hands as her body shook.
“You’re okay, you’re okay, keep it together, you have to breathe.” She repeated that mantra to herself over and over.
The whispers were a near constant yell in her mind now. And much to her horror, control had fully slipped weeks ago.
And even worse, she couldn’t return to the water.
She was stuck in her human body, and as her mind and nature struggled to return to its source - return to water - it beat and slammed against the fragile, mortal shell like a vicious trapped beast. Shredding and biting and screaming.
It hurt so bad.
Her need to return was a constant pounding in her head. Her mind ripping itself apart.
Water acted now without her permission, her own body betraying her. Storms either ravaged the land or refused to hydrate the land entirely.
Massive floods and severe droughts were reported around the world. The loss of life had already overwhelmed the kingdom of shadows, the underworld was choking on the dead.
Fishermen, too, yielded nothing. No fish, no urchins, no crabs or shrimp, no octopus, not even seaweed were successfully caught.
And combined with the severe droughts and floods, the mortals were starving and thirsty.
And as mortals do when desperate; They prayed.
Prayed for relief, prayed for mercy, begged for something to save their families and themselves.
The gods, celestials and denizens of the sea did what they could. But fighting a never ending storm was no simple task.
The Lady Mazu had run herself to the ground in exhaustion trying to sooth the storms and save the people with little to no results. The waters disobeying her as much as they had sliced themselves loose of Bèiké.
Her heart thumped painfully in her chest, causing her to sob as she sucked in a breath that she distantly realized she had not taken for 7 minutes. Black spots littering her vision as her mind was pulled in a thousand different directions.
Someone spoke to her, the sound of the voice echoing in her head like so much agony, she flinched away from the sound and clenched her hands over her ears tighter.
“Breathe, you have to breathe, keep breathing.” She mumbled reminders to herself as she manually counted her breaths.
Thunder crashed far too close, the rain beating on the windows- against the walls, the clouds holding the city churning, the panicked blood flow of the guards and citizens,
Flood washing poor creatures away, areas of dead space that refused to be quenched, lighting striking the ocean in an electrified jolt, wind blowing far too quickly, the sun being blocked out. The world darkening.
Pain… so much pain.
She sobbed, feeling it all, begging it to end.
That voice again, more insistent, but just as painful. She shook her head and whimpered, it was too loud to hear.
She was only vaguely aware of the shadowed figure walking away from her quickly on hurried footsteps.
Her mind was beset by the suffering of those below, weak heartbeats, panicked breaths, last breaths, waters’ destruction. She couldn’t focus.
It hurt.
Help… She doesn’t know if it was said out loud or not. Someone please help me
“Some-ing…Done… this-ing t-.. kill her.” She couldn’t tell how close those words she heard were. She didn’t know who said them or what they were talking about. She couldn’t even focus before her mind was pulling her to look at the great western oceans, another storm violently being born.
“Stop… please…” she didn’t know who she was begging. “You’re hurting them.”
A twisting turret of water shot into the sky to connect to violently twisting clouds above, dragging life into it and breaking their bodies. Bèiké felt their violent, panicked end as she retched and gagged.
“Stop, you’re hurting them, stop.” Tears forming in her eyes, running down her face, staining her clothes… or was that blood? What was water?
Help me please, it hurts… she begged again.
“Shhh child, breathe.” Hands, somehow both warm and cold, comforting in their touch, caressed her face and settled over her ears, gently lifting her head towards the source of the voice. “Breathe now.”
She sucked in a breath as more tears fell from her eyes, her hands gripping the ones steadying her head.
Her eyes opened to reveal the Buddha, that smile ever present on his face. She was dimly aware of her mother, father and attendants standing behind him a ways.
She looked back up towards the Buddha, her breathing slowing enough to allowed some capability of speech.
“Somethings wrong with me. I can’t control it.” She choked out, her eyes blurred with her tears as she begged him to help her. “I’m being ripped apart.”
“Yes maiden of the waters, I know. I must apologize. I gave you a mortal heart so that you’d love the land. I never intended for your body to rebel so violently against mortality. You were never supposed to be mortal. I see now that even without it, you would’ve loved the land all the same.” His ever calm smile was apologetic, Bèiké found herself instantly forgiving him even though she didn’t fully understand his words in the moment.
“It hurts…” Bèiké sobbed, gripping his kasaya as she’s seen children do a hundred times to their mother’s skirts. “Please, end the pain, I can’t bear to feel their suffering any longer.”
She wanted to scream, but her voice was so damaged, her pleas were barely above a whisper.
But he heard her all the same. He waved his hand, and shooed all onlookers out. Which they did with varying degrees of hesitation, some being pulled out of the room, voices of concern rising.
“At ease child, I can’t end the storm, that’s something only you can do. But I can grant you the clarity to think your next choices through. For the next choices you will have to make are not to be easy.” He nodded and properly sat before her, still allowing her to cling to him in her pain. “I will take some of the blame for that, as it was my well intentioned gift that put you in this position in the first place. Water can never be mortal, I have learned that now, and I will not forget. Mortality only throws off its balance.”
He placed a hand over her eyes, his touch a golden glow. And with that glow…
Came silence.
Sweet, merciful silence.
Bèiké sobbed her relief.
“Oh you poor thing, you’ve been feeling it all, but chained and unable to be apart of it.” A pain pinched his features as he took on her burden to relieve her.
She fought to calm her breaths as relief washed over her. She tried to settle her mind. So much was broken, so much needed mending. “Can you break the chains? Can you revive my control” She looked to him, hoping for an answer.
His expression was one that made her chest tighten ever further as she felt dread hang above her like a damned sword of Damocles. “Alas, maiden of the waters, I cannot. And for that you have my eternal apologies. You have become too mortal… this body of yours… its yin and yang are too broken and out of balance. It will no longer support the job it’s been tasked with.” His voice was gentle even as his words were heartbreaking.
Still, Bèiké pushed forwards. After all, all problems had to have a solution… right? “If it’s the body that is broken, will it not do for me to just shed it and return to the waters?”
The Buddha shook his head. “You misunderstand me child, I speak not of this physical body, but your innermost core. The body of You…. It is not so easily shed.”
She tried to understand his words, what he was saying. And found she could not. “Auspicious One please, help me learn, I am dull-witted. What must I do? Innocents are dying because I’ve lost control.”
A sad look pinches the Buddha’s features. “Pitiful child, I wished there was a simple solution. In order to shed your core… to reclaim your identity as the Worldly waters… You must cease.”
She froze, it felt even as though her heart in her chest paused as a horrible understanding washed over her “…Cease?”
The Buddha looked said, but still he nodded. “Yes… cease. The Jade emperor is tasked with keeping balance, the core of the current imbalance resides in you… in order to quell the storms, to spare the land and break your chains, you must offer that core to him. And with its Oceanic Dharma, he can restore the world. But in doing so… you will cease.”
Her mind raced. It was an answer, a solution… but at what cost? Of course she’d pay it, it was one life compared to millions, the math was easy… but… “…. If I did that… mother’s heart would break….”
“Yes… it will.” He nodded solemnly once again.
The plans she had…. The people she met… “… I made friends, I made promises to those friends…. They would mourn me.”
“More people would mourn you than you realize sweet child, you have become beloved.” He gave her a sweet, sad smile. One that reassured her as much as it broke her heart.
“…. Doing this… choosing to cease… will that save them?” She had to be sure… because what was being asked of her…
She felt a breath of relief wash over her as the Buddha nodded once again, reassuring her worry. “It will restore the balance and bring about the gentle rain and revitalization of the world once more. They will be safe, they will be free to mourn you.”
She stared at him, biting her lip harshly as tears fell fresh, the choice made, her heart and mind settling to the decision she has made. “Then I will do this… for them.”
The Buddha was silent for a moment before he carefully place a hand on top of her head. “I’m sorry for putting this task on you child, please forgive me.”
“We didn’t know… we couldn’t have known. You’re not at fault Auspicious One. There’s no villain to defeat or to place blame on in this.” She offers a shaking smile at him, trying to be brave. “Just a duty to perform… correct?”
The great and merciful Buddha stared at her for a moment before he smiled and nodded, gently reaching to take her hand. “You are truly a Propitious and Filial Child. No matter the outcome, I shall ensure your sacrifice is immortalized. The gentle and tranquil Yìn Zhēnzhū gōngzhǔ, and her love for the land.”
Still trying to keep a brave face, but unable to stop the tears, she sat up straight and kowtowed before the great Buddha. Offering her thanks for both the merciful silence within her mind, and a solution to the great problem.
As the Buddha bid her to rise, she looked up at him, a new determination in her gaze.
“How much time do I have left?…. I…” her face fell again. “I must say goodbye.”
The Buddha nodded in understanding before he looked out the window and contemplated. “I can hold your storm back with my dharma for two days… forgive me child that’s all I can permit. Any more and your core will shatter, the oceanic Dharma housed within will be irreparably damaged and the balance will never be restored.”
Beike kowtowed again. “Thank you Auspicious One… I shall not dare waste even a second of it.”
He led her out of the room where her loved ones, her father, mother, her beloved attendants and loyal guard… even her dear cousin, Erlang Shen all of them were there.
She rushed to hug her mother first, and as she was held by her family, both her and the Buddha explained the situation.
It wasn’t easy…
Her mother had collapsed in grief, even her Sage of a father, the honorable and steadfast great Jade Emperor, let out a sob as he looked upon the two of them in horror.
“Auspicious One, I beseech you, there must be a way to spare my child. We haven’t even had a millennium with her.”
But upon receiving no such solution, He excused himself - after giving his daughter a hug and an order to come and see him tomorrow - to go and grieve in private for a bit with his beloved consort and wife.
The Buddha excused himself next to go and use his dharma to temporarily silence the storms.
Her attendants clung to her and her faithful guard bowed and wept. They asked to follow her and she was quick to forbid it. She needed them to aid in helping her mother. Because she knew her mother would be hit worst by this. They needed to stay alive to grieve her so that they would have her mother, and her royal mother would have them.
And her attendants would be well taken care of, and build their cultivation to become powerful ladies. They would become a force on their own so that they would never, Never need to serve another royal ever again. And her faithful guard would grow in strength, rise in rank, become a great general and never need to depend on her or another king ever again. She held their hands tightly as she made them promise.
It took convincing. But they agreed. Holding their chins high and putting on a brave face as they served their Lady dinner, prepared her room and vigilantly stood guard.
Her beloved people… she never did deserve them…
That left Erlang.
“Are you too going to convince me to try and find another way dear cousin.”
“…. No, the solution came from the Buddha himself, he wouldn’t have suggested it had there been another way…”
“Then what is that look for?”
“…..” He sat next to her and reached out to grip her hand. Fingers entwined, shoulder leaning against hers. “I can’t protect you… I am sorry.”
“You don’t have to apologize Erlang,” she leaned her head against his, allowing him to support her weight. “Besides, my dear cousin, mayhaps one day you will find someone who you can protect, who will drive you crazy and be strong enough that you don’t allow those hovering instincts of yours to rule you… mayhaps one day you’ll have a couple kids, a charming family… a good life.”
She smiles and holds his hand tighter as she watches his face pinch in a pain that has no physical wound.
“And when that day comes, and you’re truly happy, and the sun is setting pink over an orange and purple sky, I hope you gather your children and sit them down under a weeping willow next to a gentle river, and you tell them tales of their silly Cousin-Aunt who would’ve loved and spoiled them so much.”
Tears weld in his eyes, the only thing refusing to let them fall is pride.
“That could’ve been us…”
“No…” She was quick to stop him in the trail of thought. “It couldn’t have been. We are too much alike… we would’ve fought and made each other miserable, you wouldn’t have been able to keep an eye on me the way you need to in order to settle your battle-mind, and I would’ve become odious of the way you hovered and restricted me in the name of safety… and deep down, I know you know this….”
Silence before a pained chuckle and Erlang used his free hand to pinch the corners of his eyes, holding his nose. “You would’ve been an awful wife.”
Beike makes an aghast sound in her throat. “How dare you. I would’ve made an amazing bride.”
“Just not to me?”
“Just not to you… but, I am happy we are family. And I’m happy I was given this time to say goodbye to you…” she leaned her head against his shoulder again. “You’re a good man Erlang. You have such a big heart. Don’t you dare let others take advantage of that okay? And when you do decide you want to take a partner, make sure you’re not blinded by your dedication and choose someone with a good heart, okay? Choose Someone who will love you back wildly and most ardently.”
He looked at her with red eyes for a bit before he nodded and leaned forward to kiss her. And though she tensed, she let him say goodbye.
When he pulled back, he gently caressed her cheek. “I vow to you that I will do as you say. I will carry your name… I will keep them safe.” He glances at her beloved attendants and guard.
Bèiké felt a tightness of worry in her chest loosen as she placed her hand over his. “Thank you Cousin… you have no idea how much that means to me.”
He nodded and stood up, going to take his leave before he stopped, and looked back. “You need to say goodbye to him…. His Birthday is in just a couple dawns. He needs to know, or he will carry that anger.”
Bèiké clenched her fists against her skirts, but loosened them as she sighed and nodded. “I can’t tell him when…. He will try and stop it…”
Erlang nodded then gave a shrug and a whistle. Calling his dog next to his side. “Then don’t tell him when… but he deserved to know as your brother.”
The Water Maiden gritted her teeth. “I hate it when you are correct…”
He smiled and left the room. The hound on his heels.

————————————————
Beike had two days… two days to say goodbye.
She wanted to spend most of it with her family, and that first day… she did.
Her beloved attendants and guard stood by her side as she was prepared and escorted to her Royal mother and father.
Together, they wept, and held one another. Then spoke of stories and laughed and remembered. She sang for them and performed for them one last time. Served her mother and father tea. Did her filial duties as a daughter.
Bèiké was unable to stop her tears flowing again as her brothers and sisters arrived as well, coming to embrace her and love her and say their goodbyes. Sharing their own stories with her, singing and celebrating the time she had had with them, with her. Apologizing for past arguments and disagreements, and showing remorse for not accepting her right away.
The Maiden of the Waters listened to them all without interruption, forgave the ones who asked for it and embraced them. Wanting to spend this time as family with no drama’s or petty rivalries.
They all did their best to enjoy the moment without acknowledging too much the impending doom creeping ever closer.
It was everything Beike could’ve wanted as a last day with her family. Forever grateful that she’d been adopted into it.
And it was done too soon, Beike looked out and saw the world in that stage of blue that’s common as the sun sinks that certain level below the horizon…
Day one was done.
She bid farewell to her siblings, sharing her love with them once more. She went and hugged her parents and told them of her plans for tomorrow, how she knew she needed to say goodbye to her sworn brother.
And while her royal mother wanted to spend her last day with her, her father nodded and understood her need to bid farewell. Placating his wife and asking that she only return in the morning so that they may spend some time together before….
He couldn’t finish that sentence, but the Maiden nodded and understood. Giving her word.
With that, she spent the remainder of the night with her beloved attendants and guard, sharing stories and fragile time….
It was when the early morning came about that she got ready. The sun still far from breaching the horizon as she made her way out on her cloud pavilion, her body still chained from rejoining the waters.
She carried a delicately wrapped gift carefully in her lap. The wrappings gold, orange, purple and red and shimmering. Colors that had reminded her of a beautiful dawn, something she had always associated with her sworn brother and his bright personality.
As the great Mountain Huaguo came into view, she felt her chest tighten in nervousness.
Sun Wukong could be unpredictable at the best of times, and completely irrational at the worst. She knew not how he was going to handle this.
She carefully stepped into the water curtain cave and called out. Some monkey Guai she recognized as a general raising his brow at her from his lounging position on the roof. She smiled and gave a polite bow before holding up the gifts to show him.
The general rolled his eyes and disappeared into the palace, Sun Wukong appearing a handful of minutes later. His clothes were not pajamas, though also not his royal regalia. He smiled at her, though his eyes were curious.
“My my! What a wonderful sight! My sister come to visit this Old Sun! And with gifts, a generous woman you are!” He wrapped an arm around her and began to lead her inside. “I feared you were stern with me! Such storms have been beating my mountain! Why, the young ones have all needed to find shelter in high ground! But if you are here with gifts, that clearly mustn’t be so. Though you must satisfy my curiosity Young Pearl. The sun is still a long time in rising, what brings you by this odd hour?”
Bèiké smiled, her voice tight as she answered him and allowed herself to be led. “I will tell you everything, my dear brother. But first, invite me to your table, let us sit. I want to see your smiles as you accept these birthday gifts before I must regrettably darken the mood.”
Wukong paused and looked at her, his smile dropping. “Darken the mood? Pray tell, why must you do such a thing? Has someone dared to insult you? Tell this Wukong and I shall have them apologize.“
Beike shook her head, and patted his hand. “Let us sit first, i shall tell you then.”
Wukong scowled at her vagueness but led her to his dining hall all the same. Sitting them down and getting a pot of tea on the fire.
“There.” He stated. “We have sat, and the tea is brewing, I have done my hostly duty, now explain.”
Beike tried not to laugh, for this was no laughing matter, but she smiled as she handed him the gifts. “Will you not open them first?”
He waved her off as he bared his teeth at her. “You stall. I am impatient young Pearl, what is the bad news you bring?”
Beike sighed before she pulled the gifts back. Staring at her hands before she looked back up at her brother. “I wanted to celebrate with you before I shared the news. I didn’t mean to cause you worry brother. But there’s no easy way to say this.”
She sat up straighter and looked her Sworn brother in the eyes. “Wukong… I’ve lost control, my body has rejected me, my mortality has run up… I don’t know exactly how much time I have left, but.…” she gave a shaky smile. “It wasn’t fair to not come and say goodbye…”
Wukong froze as he took in her words, his eyes searching hers as he searched for a lie, a jest, a deception. “That can’t be…” his hand reached out to grip hers. “You are immortal, that cannot be.”
She gripped him back, her lips beginning to tremble and her sight beginning to blur as she nodded. “It is so… the Buddha himself confirmed it. The only reason the storms aren’t raging this very moment is because he is holding it back…. But dear brother, my mind is broken, my body has failed…”
She shook her head her tears falling. “I did not know how to tell you, but you deserved to know. You are family, I couldn’t leave without saying goodbye…”
“You hush.” Gritted words.
“I wanted so much to celebrate your birthday with you, and see your happy reaction as you open these gifts… I wanted to give you a chance make peace with this.”
“Be silent.”
“I have failed my duties and lives have been lost due to it… I can never make that right, but I need to try and fix this. However I want to still say goodbye. It’s not right to just disappear-“
“HUSH!” Sun Wukong roared as he pushed her down against the pillows, snapping his canines inches from her face. “YOU BE SILENT!”
He shook above her, his breathing harsh, his hands gripping her wrists to the point of bruising. He looked down at her with golden eyes blazing, using his sight to see the horrible truth of the Pearl maiden.
And of course he saw that she was speaking the truth. Her very core was failing, her body all out of balance, her mind being held together by only the Buddha’s Dharma. Oh he knew the feeling of that power intimately well, for he was trapped under it for 500 years. And even that was swiftly breaking under the force of a torrent storm that was only just barely being held back.
His younger sister holding a power within her that was far too large for her current body, and he could see it was quite literally ripping her apart. An awful sight.
“I….” His voice shook as he is mind quickly ran through a hundred different scenarios. “Yes, an idea, I have an idea! I could sneak back to the shadow kingdom, erase your name.”
“Wukong…”
“Lao Tzu has a hundred different medicines, I could go steal a couple again.”
“Brother-“
“The immortality peaches bloom in another handful of days, you could eat them. I could mend your core! I’m sure it wouldn’t be too hard! The Buddha misses things all the time! There must be some loophole. You are immortal, there’s always a way ou-“
His words cut off as the maiden leaned up and buried her face against his neck, pulling her wrists uselessly against his grip.
He shuddered and let out a whine when he felt her tears dampen his fur.
“You… you are not supposed to leave… How are you to leave? Young as you are, the young pearl that has slammed this Wukong with your waters in play. The skinny little princess who has stood up to me more than any of those celestials who dare call themselves warriors… yet you can’t beat this? How dare you…”
“I am sorry brother… you must forgive this Bèiké.”
“I do not! How dare you, you can’t leave. How dare you.” His hands released her wrists only to wrap around her and drag her into a crushing hug.
She of course hugged him back, Sun Wukong had always been steadfast and strong, even when he was angry or stubborn or doing something reckless he always somehow made her feel safe. To feel him tremble against her made her chest tighten to a near painful degree.
“My impulsive brother… please, I need you to make peace with this.” She rubbed his back as she did her best to choke back her tears. “I don’t want to leave with regrets.”
He snarled against her throat but refused to look at her. “You dare ask me to be okay with this? You are selfish.”
She combed her fingers through his fur, desperately trying to comfort him in the way his people do. “Will you let me be selfish in this? I want us to spend the day together, I want to celebrate your birthday early. I want to enjoy my time with my sworn brother and leave with good memories and no regrets…”
Slowly he began to relax and his grip on her loosened. “You ask a lot of this Sun Wukong Bèiké.”
Bèiké blinked rapidly at hearing her brother say her name, but nodded even though she knew he didn’t see her. “I know… I want today to be a good day for both of us… let your little sister be selfish, please?”
Long moments passed before he finally nodded.
“Because I am a good and gracious King and brother… I will do this.”
“You are a wonderful and handsome king.”
“Your praises flatter me sister.”He leaned back and gave her a look. “I… do not like this…”
Beike gave him a shaky smile. “I am not fond of it either… would you rather I left?” She asked genuinely.
Sun Wukong was quick to shake his head. “I would not chase you away. I want to spend the day with you. But alas, it feels odd to pretend nothing is wrong, you sit before me so it feels odd to grieve, yet I see your core shattering…” he rests his forehead against hers. “Would you be stern with me if I hid you away in the mountain where I knew it was safe?”
Bèiké closed her eyes and similarly pressed her forehead against his. “I’d be sad, because I know it would not change anything. You know that too… But… Thank you for caring about me…”
A growl rumbled in his chest. “I am your brother, of course this Sun Wukong is going to care.” A grumpy statement, but one that made Bèiké give a wet laugh all the same.
“I am so lucky to have you as a brother Wukong… the Valiant Victorious Fighting Buddha, strongest in the world. Brave old Sun.”
“…I don’t want to let go…”
Bèiké nodded, but took a deep breath and leaned back to give him her bravest smile. “Come! Let me celebrate your birthday early. No more tears! Let’s smile and make merry.”
It took convincing, and he wasn’t nearly as festivious as he normally was, but he eventually began to smile and laugh as they ate and drank. Some of the denizens of Mount Huaguo joining in on the merrymaking. Loving any excuse to celebrate, why not start the games early?
His eyes glittered at the gifts she had given him, the storm summoning whistle and the abyssal armor. He danced around and showed them off.
As the day grew brighter, more people joined in.
It was… fun.
Music played, the food was good, the games were chaotic and creative, everyone was laughing and smiling. One could almost forget that the Princess had a time limit…
But Bèiké could see when Sun Wukong remembered, he would randomly grow quiet and his brow would furrow. His hand gripping hers as if afraid that if he let go, she would disappear.
Bèiké did her sisterly duty and tried to ease his mind and keep conversation topics away from anything that may remind him. Today was about celebrating, sharing stories and making merry. She had even pulled him out to dance a couple times, both of them clumsy from the wine and making them laugh all the more.
As the sun began to set once more, the maiden of the waters knew she had to return…
She wasn’t about to lie and say that the thought of getting him drunk to the point he passed out, so she could leave without him noticing wasn’t enticing… but she ultimately decided it would be cruel to not give him a chance to say goodbye. And Wukong, seeing the change in his little sister’s demeanor and the far away look in her eye, felt his throat tighten.
“Must you leave already? Ba and Liu are about to get on the drums.” His hands gripping hers tightly.
She smiled sadly and gripped his hands back. “Come to the balcony with me Wukong… come tell me goodbye. Send me off with a smile.”
He snarled, but did so. His mind once again beginning to race as he thought of ways to fix the issue, heal her core…
And Bèiké gently tugged his fur. “You are going to hurt yourself if you keep trying to mend what’s already breaking. You have to let it shatter.”
The gaze he leveled on her was equal parts stubbornness, pain and manic. “How can you ask me to do nothing? I am Sun Wukong!”
Her cloud pavilion materialized as she gently held her brother’s face. “Wukong… I am hurting. My mind has shattered and it’s causing me so much pain… it hurts, and I am so sorry I’m not strong enough to deal with it.” She feels her voice choke as she thinks about what the Buddha told her. Takes a deep breath before smiling at her brother. “Those storms that are so out of control are destroying what is precious, you have always fought to keep your precious people safe. But this time, I have to be the one to fix things… you have to let me do this so that the pain can end.”
He trembled, his eyes squeezing shut as he let out a whine and crushed her in a tight hug.
“I swear to you… I will find a way to fix this. You must hold on young Pearl, promise me you will hold on.”
Bèiké bit her lip as she felt tears well up in her eyes once more… it would’ve been too easy to promise, to trust him, to let him shield her and depend on him…
But as she looked back behind him and saw the lives of the denizens of the mountain that were much more fragile, whom had already suffered and survived so much… whom she didn’t want to risk anymore than she inadvertently already had, she took a deep breath and settled her nerves. She raised her arms to hug him back. The monkey Guai who - from the start of his existence - didn’t know what it was to turn down a challenge.
“I trust in your strength Wukong… protect your people, I will never forgive myself if they come into harm when I am broken.”
He shook his head as he leaned back, giving her a hand as she settled onto her cloud pavilion. “I shall allow no harm to befall them, rest assured. You must focus on your own health. I will reach out to you soon.” He gave her hand one final squeeze before he released her and watched her float away.
Bèiké didn’t dare tell him that she wouldn’t be there to answer him come dawn, and she knew he would be angry at her for that. And she accepted that.
She knew in her heart that, should she ever be reincarnated, she would spend the next several lifetimes making up for the pain she would cause her dear brother when he found out.
She could only pray he would forgive her.

————————————————
Bèiké would’ve liked to think she was being brave.
To sacrifice one’s life for the protection of others, especially including beloved friends and family should be an honorable act. And an act that one usually faced with their head held high.
But Bèiké couldn’t pretend that she wasn’t trembling.
The early morning consisted of the Princess spending her final peaceful moments with her family. They sat in silence, both having no words to say and too many to voice, and just holding each others hands.
As the sun began to rise, the Buddha had called upon them. Guiding them to a location in the heart of everything where the ceremony was to take place.
While the world was still calm, the Buddha and his monks set up the area, blessing it and preparing it for what the Jade Emperor and his ever attentive obligation demanded him to do.
The storms had broken free of the Buddha’s great Dharma moments ago, the world was dark even though it was meant to be the middle of the day.
Her beloved attendants had wanted to accompany her to her final destination, but she had forbidden it. Not wanting to risk them. Their goodbyes had been tearful and filled with vows and promises. Beike was unable to bring herself to look back as she walked away, knowing that if she did, she would’ve have the strength to do what needed to happen next.
She stood with her mother and father on an exposed piece of land in the middle of the ocean, they were in the heart of the storm. The honorable and noble dragon kings of the four cardinal directions risking their lives to hold back the storm, allowing the Jade Emperor and his family to stand in the eye of it.
Bèiké sat in the shallow water where the ocean met the sand as the weight of everything crashed upon her. The whisper-screams that the Buddha was still mercifully holding back slamming against the barrier of her mind, making her dizzy.
There was no specific sign or signal that indicated what exactly needed to be done, but it was like a shift in the wind. Her heart pounding in her chest.
She looked up at the black clouds as the monks around her began to chant and she felt her royal father’s strength and power begin to spread over the world and demand its submission. And she felt herself begin to respond to its demands, even as another part of her twisted in defiance and raged all the more.
It was a particularly painful thump that had her clenching her chest as Wukong’s words reverberated in her head.
“If I came up with nothing, had no pompous trickster cursed me, had no imperious scalawag tried to poison me somehow, I would simply assume it was an internal issue and I’d open myself up to take an intimate look.” …. “Take an intimate look….”
“In order to quell the storms, to spare the land and break your chains, you must offer that core to him. And with its Oceanic Dharma, he can restore the world. But in doing so… you will cease.” The Buddha’s words echoed as she realized truly what she had to do.
Her breath quickened as she forced herself to swallow down her fear. She closed her eyes as the faces of her family and friends flashed in her mind. The pain of those who had been lost to her lack of control, the faces of those who would be at risk if she didn’t do what she needed to do.
“I will cease… but they will survive…” She murmured as she felt her hand break past her fragile mortal shell of a body, easily finding her own core. “The sacrifice of one will preserve billions, the trade is worth it.”
She grit her teeth and prepared herself. “It is worth it.” She let out a pained cry as she gave a swift wrench and tore her core free. Hearing the horrified gasps and cries of her parents.
As she held her core out to her father, and begged him to save… everyone, she quickly felt her strength fade.
Despite his horror, the Jade Emperor kept his composure. His strength and power moving his body instinctively to do what needed to be done. He took her core, the blood staining his hands, and the oceanic dharma that flowed within responded to his dominant presence.
He glowed as the wind kicked up and the sky filled with magnificent colors. Energy plunged through the earth and oceans as the balance between land and sea reentered equilibrium. Everything going back to how it was supposed to be and the effect almost immediately becoming apparent.
No longer shackled by a mortal shell, the waters fell back into balance and the world began to heal.
And as the Jade Emperor did his honor-bound commitment, Bèiké felt her mind settle, and the whispers fade. There was a pull to rejoin the waters as was her nature, but the mortal shell she was bound to still held her. She could feel herself fading, her body dying while still desperately trying to survive.
Her heart beating, her blood flowing, her breathing erratic. She distantly wondered if this is what mortals went through, the mind realizing what was happening while the body continued to fight.
The sobbing voice of her beloved mother caught her attention as she found herself embraced in her mother’s arms.
She tried to raise a hand to hold her mother back but found her body was no longer responding. And as she tried to respond to her mother’s desperate Pleas to not leave her, Bèiké found that her voice no longer worked.
As her breathing slowed, the clouds above them finally parted, revealing a truly beautiful view. A dawn of pinks, purples and golds…
It looks like Wukong…. Ahhh… I’m going to miss his birthday…. His heart is… going to…. Break…
As her vision faded to black, she heard a wailing scream that pierced the void…
Her last thought was that it sounded like the purest heartbreak.
————————————————
🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊
————————————————
It had been sixty years since that day.
The world had long healed. The droughts had been banished, the floods dried up. The fishermen resumed their craft and taught the next generation and the next, and the dead had been buried and honored.
However, mortals still talked about the phenomenon that had been observed on the ocean those sixty years ago.
The magnificent lights and that feeling of protection and security followed by a great cry that shook the world. Most everyone cried that day after hearing that sound; mortals, beasts, Yaoguais and immortals alike wept.
But most memorable of all, was the utter lack of motion of the seas days after the great mourning.
Not a wave, not a breeze, not a current was seen or felt upon the ocean.
It was as though the entire ocean was dead.
It had taken around fourteen days for movement to circulate within and above the oceans again. And from there, life had returned to a relative normalcy.
However, it wasn’t so easy for everyone to simply move on.
The Victorious Fighting Buddha, Sun Wukong had stormed the heavenly palace in anger, demanding an explanation for the ocean’s state and to see his sister. It had taken the Lotus Prince, Nezha, and his lordship, Erlang Shen to placate and comfort the mourning Simian after the unfortunate news of her death had been shared.
The Stone simian had been leaving, intent on heading back to his mountain to grieve with his people, when he had been stopped by the still grieving Lady Mazu.
She had broken royal decorum and invited him over, offering for him to view her daughter’s memorial and offer some final words.
There had been no body, she had solemnly explained, for after her last breath, her body had melted and became water that fell through my hands… all that had remained were the pearls that had always adorned her, and I had collected as many as I could before they rolled and were lost to the water.
It was said that Wukong had broken down before the memorial of the Pearl Princess, though only the Lady Mazu would know for sure.
Though servants and attendants claimed to have seen the two afterwards sitting at a table and sharing stories. When Wukong had gotten up to leave, the goddess had gifted him a pearl that had belonged to the Maiden.
Sun Wukong had not left his mountain much after that, the king remaining dedicated to his kingdom.
Though, there were rumors that drifted around about how he and the phoenix maiden, and sometimes Erlang Shen, would visit that island in the middle of the ocean once a year on the anniversary of the great mourning.
What they did on that island, it couldn’t be said, but those who dared to venture near swore they heard the most haunting melody and a whistle that always seemed to summon a storm.

What a curious thing life is… always finding a way to exist even in places where you would think life would be impossible.
Everything in life has a cycle, for some it’s life and death, for others it’s a constant journey of recycling.
Water is one of the latter, it’s always been here as long as life has existed on this wonderful world. And even before. There is no true death of water, for the water that exists today is the same water that existed billions of years ago.
Water is one of the true immortals, ever present, life bringing and ever flowing.
The ocean is old, timeless and ever shifting, No one truly knows exactly how old the Waters of the world are.
Deep within the depths, the waters churned and swirled in a circular motion, as if creating a cacoon. And as life shaped and formed within it, the beating of a heart reverberated through the ocean.
A light the shown down upon the churning waters, and a voiced ever familiar called out; “You have yet to finish forming, but allow me to be the first to greet you. Welcome back, Maiden of the Worldly Waters… you have been greatly missed.”
Upon hearing that voice, The Maiden of the Waters, for the first time in sixty years, opened her eyes and blinked up at the light above her.
She felt small and yet large, feared but loved, wild and free… and more so than before, she felt unshackled and eternal, endless and ever renewing.
She felt like water.
“Pray tell, Maiden of the Waters, do you know what you want to be?”
The Maiden felt her brow furrow as she thought, snippets of memory, some clear and some blurry filtering through her mind. A previous life, a mortal body… a broken mind.
She wasn’t that person anymore, part of her knew that. She wasn’t shackled by mortality, her mind wouldn’t break as that woman’s did.
Still…
“Maiden? My my, Do you remember who you are?”
The Maiden blinked back up at the light, and allowed her eyes to adjust, seeing the enlightened figure within.
She nodded as she answered.
“I am Bèiké, the Yín Zhēnzhū Gōngzhǔ, filial daughter, sworn sister, the deceptive Tranquil lady, The capricious and unpredictable waters… and I was loved.”

Hi again, I wanted to know if you can do a Redson x reader where they were childhood friends and then they reunite. ^^
You two grew up together and we're the closest friends Princess iron fan would often schedule play dates when you both were young either because she had things to attend to and she asked you parents to keep an eye on him knowing he'd behave a little more when you two played or because Redson would throw tantrums whenever she said no.
Either way you two would cause a lot of mischief sometimes by tricking other humans or making plans for world domination normal kid stuff.
But unfortunately Redson couldn't come to the playdates and you got enrolled into school and couldn't either both of your parents still spoke to eachother.
After a few years and you and Redson grown up you would see eachother funny enough is was when you were looking around a small market.
You bumped into Redson and he turned to yell at whoever dared to bump into him when he saw you both of you froze.
"Y/n!?"
"Redson!!?"
Immediately you both began catching up while walking through the market Redson telling you how his father is back.
You catch him up on your life as well and exchange numbers and Redson invites you to dinner wanting you to meet his father and to see his accomplishments.
When Redson introduces you to his father while his mother coos about how much you've grown.
Redson will ask you to join in on his plans of world domination and to defeat "Noodle boy" so you become a new 'bad guy' for Mk to fight or just see depends on you.
Instead of playdates Redson invites you to help him with inventions even if you don't know much he just asks you to hand stuff to him or just add some conversation in the quiet room.
While you invite Redson to your place just to relax and chill out such as watching the Monkey cop movies purely just to make fun of how bad they are.
Even with the large time gap between your friendship you both are now closer than ever.

How about a prompt (one shot or head canon, your choice) for wukong and Macaque with a S/O (platonic) who is an introverted pacifist (most of the time) but if provoked can show a display of power rivaling the monkey king.
Funky!
SWK and Macaque x Introverted but scary!GN!reader (Platonic Headcanons!)
SWK - At first he's like "aw sweet person who likes hanging out with me :)" and he's absolutely adoring how nice you are. He's convinced you can do no wrong! But then you get provoked and it's a whole different story. He sees your abilities and he can't help but be a bit intimidated. He hesitates to ask you about it. If you talk to him about it first, he'll be more calm and probably more openly curious. But if he has to come to you, he'll be a little more cautious. He doesn't want another Macaque situation in any capacity, so he treats you as well as he's able to....he still thinks you're fun to be around though!
Macaque - he likes hanging out with you! You just get it. He's introverted too, but even on days where he's a little low on energy he's happy to make some time for you. He likes enjoying some quiet time with you, reading or listening to music. He's generally much nicer to you than others since he feels you two understand each other. When he has an opportunity to see what you're like when provoked, he can't help being a little fearful. After all he thought you were relatively harmless. This new side is a bit intriguing to him, but he knows now to keep himself in your good graces.

Being Red Son's Lava Haired sister
based on these headcanons written by @pamgkrthwrites.
These headcanons caused me to create an oc named Huoqiáng, who is in the reader's place in the @pamgkrthwrites headcanons.
Red Son
Oh boy
He is a tsundere big brother
He is six years older than you
When Huoqiáng was pregnant he was a little upset he would have to share his parents love
Once you were born, he now wants to keep you safe
As you get older, and your horns grow he'll help make it hurt less
Because of his fire powers, he can touch your lava hair
Braids you hair when you ask
Teaches you how to use your fire powers better
That training he did with Mei, he'll do that with you
When you mess up, he will protect you and then give you crap for whatever you did
After the LBD incident, he becomes even more protective of you
He now makes sure you keep your powers and skills up to par
Tries to keep you from being friends with Mk and Mei before the LBD
Now he just sighs and tells you to be smarter than those two
Tries you no different because you're a girl, his mother made him drink his respect woman juice
Once you're friends with Mei and MK... you'll give him a heart attack
Helps you take care of your horns
Makes sure no one gets away with mocking you
Doesn't care that you're technically his half sister, loves you like a full sister
Iron Fan
Adores you
She is a little upset she cant braid your hair
You're her little princess
While not overly affectionate she makes sure you know she loves you
Loves your horns so much
Helps you deal with horns when they break
Makes sure you clothes accommodate your lava hair
Even though your not her daughter, she doesn't care, she loves you
Any demon that mocks you... they saw the grim reaper
Likes teaching your important things
Is proud of your skills with fire
Has special accessories made for your hair
Says you look like your father cause of your horns
Is happy you look more like Huoqiáng
Helps you when you go through puberty
After the LBD incident... she makes sure to show you and Red Son more love
Holds you closer, metaphorically
Tried and failed to get your friendship to end with Mk and his friends
Tells you to be the smart one of the friend group
Demon Bull King
Onces he's freed... he is happy to see you
Helps you take care of your horns because he has his own
Tries to teach you how to fight with a weapon... but you melted it
Like Iron Fan, he likes pointing out the features you share with Huoqiáng
Is sort of heat resistant so he also likes to do your hair
is protective of you, cuase your his little girl
Murder is on the table if someone tries to insult you, you're his daughter so no one gets away with that
Is not happy you're friends with MK, cause he hates Wukong
After he is freed from the control of the LBD, he hugs you
He makes sure to let his love for you be more obvious
Is proud of your warriors skill
MK
Thinks your lava hair and horns are cool
Likes to invite you over for movies and video games
You are one of the first people he tells about his monkey king powers
When he realizes you're Red Son's sister... nothing happens
Your status as Red Son's sister doesn't matter to him
You're his friend, and he does try to get you to be a hero
Loves your fire powers
He is upset he can't do your hair because, ya know, lava
Likes to hang out with you
After the trauma, and LBD incident... he hugs you and cries
Tries to check on you to make sure you're ok
Is happy you and your brother turned over a new leaf and became some what heros
When someone mocks you, he tries to be diplomatic... then violence
Mei
Another awesome friend
Is upset she cant dye your hair, because again, lava
I think her dragon ancestry and being the samedi fire vessal means she is kind of fire proof, so she does your hair
Asks if she can paint your horns
Loves giving you outfits that fit your hair and that are also in her colors
When you show her your fire powers, she is in awe
When she learns you're Red Son's sister, like MK, nothing changes but she does mess with Red Son more
Like bringing you to races
Wants to take you on motorcycle rides
After finding out the samedi fire thing, and the LBD she is happy you're by her side
When she gets a handle on her new power, she is by your side more
Is happy you and your brother are heroic now
Will plot the murder of anyone who mocks you because of your half sister status
Pigsy
You give him a heart attack and grey hairs
He first meets you... you put him on edge
When you become friends with MK and Mei, he gets used to you
Makes you noodles, you still have to pay
At some point, he starts seeing you as another one of his kids
When he learns you're Red Son's sister, he is now worried for his sanity and your safety
Tries to get you to be a nicer kid
Doesn't like your fire powers because he's worried you, or someone else, might get hurt or his shop might burn
Is impressed with your horns and is curious on how you grow lava hair
After LBD, he respects and cares a little more for you
When you're in his shop and someone mocks you... a wooden spoon will meet their face
Tang
Wants to learn about your lava hair and horns
Willask you questions about what it's like to have lava hair, because it's cool
Helps you study sometimes
Wants to learn more about your fire powers
Might use you to get free noodles by using you to distract Pigsy
Might try to figure out the logistics of lava hair
When he learns you're Red Son's sister... it takes him a bit to figure it out
Once it hits him, he has so many questions and a new found uncle vibe
When he learns of his powers and LBD, he is even more uncle like to you
Teaches you things, mostly about the Journey to the West
Is proud of the growth you and Red Son have gone through

LMK Mute Reader insert (short)Drabble
Arrrggh, I know I should be asleep rn, but this idea was bugging me, so here you go!
Lately I've gotten much better at ASL, my friend and I have been learning it on and off for months but it really got me thinking, what if an Isekai reader was mute? So much to unpack, and Lego people probably don't have ASL or any way of using their hands to communicate. Worse, there probably would not be or ever be any mute Lego people because of design issues. If so, we just never see it. It presents quite the challenge for anyone entering their world. I can see this MAYBE working out well if the reader ended up in Journey to The West or any other movie/media that does not involve having plastic, yellow, macaroni for hands. Fandom: Lego Monkie Kid Summary: (This is just a drabble to get my idea out because it's buggin' me) Reader wakes up one day in Lego Monkie Kid and struggles to process the lack of human hands.
----------
Sometimes you wish you could scream. This was one of those times.
In front of you stood what was supposed to be a fictional boy in a fictional world; but, having been just ran into by the excited hero made you realize this was all too real to be a dream. Things were clear, you could get hurt, you could smell, you could breathe, and most importantly, you were very self-aware. All evidence points to this being real. And you wanted to scream.
Getting up to dust your clothes off, you watched as what you recognized to be MK also get up. This was so uncanny.
Seeing the gears turn in his head, you watched as MK realized what happened before he came running up to you. "OHMYGOSHIAMSOSORRYABOUTTHAT-" He was frantically bowing over and over, not paying attention as you tried several times to raise your 'hand' to sign to him. You realized you needed his attention but he just kept rambling...and rambling...and more apologies came out until you finally grabbed his shoulder, gave it a squeeze, and made a small smile. Looking up, Mk made a nervous smile back "Are you okay? I'm so sorry I didn't mean to hit you with my staff!" He was practically eyeing you up down your body, most likely looking for injur- Wait. You got hit by his what now?
You flinched upon realizing what actually happened, ignoring MK's worried questions and prodding. You weren't ran into, well, you were, but you also got a good whack from the staff as well. So why didn't you feel anything?
"Uhhm...hello? I didn't hit you in the head did I?" You felt a hand gently tap your shoulder, snapping you out of your thoughts.
Looking over, you quickly began moving your hands, making odd gestures, trying to explain you were alright. MK looked confused, you looked annoyed once you realized the issue.
These hands, they weren't like yours, you can't communicate with them like you would back home.
A huff left your mouth as MK nudged closer to get a better look, he probably thought you were crazy now.
"I don't know what you're doing, but I'm sure you'll feel better with a bowl of noodles and quick check over?" The sentence came out as more of a question, MK clearly wasn't aware of the issue going on but he was too sweet to leave you here it seems.
It was a hard choice as weird as it sounds. On one hand, you could meet the main cast, but on the other, you don't know what you're getting yourself into. But...you need help and you feel overwhelmed. You doubt you'd feel comfortable being with other characters.
You gave MK a quick nod after thinking it through. Not even a split second passed before you were stuffed in the back of a noodle truck with MK hopping into the driver's seat, eyes sparkling "Perfect! I'm sure you'll love Pigsy's noodles!" Starting up the engine, MK sped off, not giving you a chance to buckle in.
Off in the distance, a bird watched the truck speed away from the crater left behind from one of MK's 'attack'. Imprints of your shoes were embedded into the stone due the force behind the staff. What a concerning sight...

LMK Characters As Queerplatonic Partners (GN Reader, Pt 2)
Genres: Platonic || they/them pronouns for reader || No warnings needed
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁⋆˚。⋆୨🌈୧⋆˚。⋆✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖
Spider Queen:
- She's got experience working with workers for her Queendom, but a friend? It's a surprisingly new concept, and at first she almost treats you like she does her minions
- She grows to become very fond of you and begins holding your opinion as highly as she does her own, making sure the others always do as you say with respect
- She confides in you a lot about the parts of herself her own minions don't even get to see. Her worries, insecurities, and the parts of herself she can't seem to come to terms with
- You help her confidence solidify in a genuine way, not just having an inflated ego (though that never fades) and in return she tries to make you feel treasured
Scorpion Queen:
- She's ecstatic whenever you offer up a QPR. A close confidant is all she's ever wanted, and she accepts eagerly to having your presence around more permanently
- She excitedly let's you see everything she's got in her castle, offering you up anything you could want as a token of gratitude for simply being there
- Jin and Yin come by occasionally and she keeps a very close eye on them to make sure they don't disturb you when you're hanging out together
- She does ask for reassurance quite a few times, but it's because she genuinely appreciates your input and takes your words to heart when you reassure her
Syntax:
- He acts like a bodyguard to you, always wanting to be around you and keep a scathing comment on the back burners for if anyone disrespects you
- He tries to teach you some coding he knows whenever you two hang out together
- You're likely the only one who could ask to install a game on his devices and he might actually say yes
- He's usually endlessly smug for you and brags on your behalf for all your accomplishments, insisting up and down that you deserve the recognition
Huntsman:
- He's not really the best at showing his closeness to you, but he does it in his own small ways like saving the best bits of food for you or scavenging for trinkets so you can keep them
- Immediately gets defensive if he thinks anyone is being rude towards you and tries to square up to anyone being a prick the second he detects it
- You're one of the only people he'll continuously praise, he always makes sure what you do is seen and appreciated just as much as any of his deeds
- Lends you his jacket if you're ever in need of one, and you're the only person he's ever lent it out to
Goliath:
- Absolute sweetheart when it comes to you. He's kind and a gentle giant with you around, but he'll switch up and fuck anyone up who tries to mess with you if you ask
- He likes to carry you around a lot due to his immense size and strength, usually by cradling you in his arm somehow or letting you ride on the mech legs
- Always offers to help with anything you're doing, he likes feeling like he's making things easier on you
- Very encouraging to anything you wanna do. He just really likes spending time with you, even if that's doing something really small or completing missions together
Mayor:
- Very eerily looms around you often, mostly as a way to keep others from getting too close to you
- He gives you access to basically anywhere in Megapolis you could ever want, always uses his title to get you into the secret cool places
- Very very devoted to you. LBD may be who he works for, but he'll do basically anything for you the second you ask him to, and he'll always offer to do more as well
- Basically a massive guard dog, but he also allows himself to be harmlessly zany around you and get a hint of a taste for human enjoyment again

may I request platonic lmk red son x a demon reader who's overall more calm, composed and polite, (but still willing to support shenanigans, just properly planned ones),
perhaps more of a strategist? Thank you for reading this either way
Red Son X Demon Reader (Platonic)
You met Red Son when he broke into your temple. Red Son was looking for some ancient relic and he was willing to kill you to get it. He was surprised when you went to a large room, fished it out of a box, and threw it to him.
“What? You’re just going to give it to me?” Red Son looked perplexed before grinning. “Of course you would! I’m powerful and terrifying, any low ranked demon as yourself would tremble before me.”
Often Red Son went over with the excuse he wanted another relic. Something about you just soothed him. The two of you became best friends even though neither of you made it official.
Red Son brought you to his home to show you all of the tech and plans he had. His room is a mess, papers and gadgets scattered around. You took it upon yourself to visit regularly to clean up.
Demon Bull King walked in one time to see the two of you. He huffed at you but was glad his son was talking someone else’s ear off instead of his. You were polite enough and cleaned up after yourself, and that’s all he cared about.
Red Son was always talking about some new plan. Most of the time, you’d tell him how it wouldn’t work. Red Son always made sure to get your approval on a plan, knowing that you were more logical than he was at times. He made the tech, you helped with the plans. Most of the time your plans would go well, and the other times Red Son helped.
The two of you made formidable foes to MK and his friends. You always apologize when Red Son destroys property or says something rude to them. Red Son got angry when you’d talk to MK, telling him not to talk to “MBDF” (My best demon friend). Red Son’s possessiveness got to be too much and you had to sit him down and talk to him about it, and eventually you made friends with MK and Mei. Red Son begrudgingly hung out with them as well and eventually Red Son stopped attacking MK all the time.
No matter how many years pass, you’ll always be friends- and nothing will take that away.
