Does he fall into a coma after recharging the guardians or is he just weak and vulnerable?

Accidental Brother-Sorry, Babysitter-Acquisition (Fic WIP) (Part 2)

“You know you don’t have to do this, right?���

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Nezha replied smoothly, skates whirring in their true form as he flitted about the area, getting it set up nicely with his true power before the others arrived. Unlit paper lanterns on strings were hung around the trees, soft blankets in the cleared area that was on the side of the cliff facing Megapolis, checking the snacks he’d brought that weren’t made of hair-

“Seriously, Ne-”

“-End that with that foolish nickname and the group will arrive to see a healing wound from a spear thrust to your mouth.”

Nezha’s back was to the simian, but he could feel the troublemaking smile.

“Nezhy, c’mon-”

Without looking, Nezha summoned his spear, split it to lotus petals, and thrust them at Wukong.

“What happened to hanging with your own family for New Years?!” Wukong yelped as he evaded them with no real effort, merely being dramatic in his movements for closer shaves. Nezha aimed more precisely-he was not tarnishing the surroundings before they could even get here.

“I am.”

There was an oof as several petals caught Wukong off guard, pinning him to the floor.

“What about your brothers? And your dad?”

“Busy.” Whenever time allowed, usually his father, mother and brothers tried to visit their poor, stuck brother/son who actually set plenty of seals long ago to be able to sneak out. Still, more eyes were on him during New Years’, that owing to celebrations being something more worthy of “leaving one’s post” for. Stupid.

Anyways, he typically got visited at least once during New Years’ with goodies brought by Muzha, but this year Jinzha had stopped by early and said apologetically that their father had decided to follow him and Muzha on an assignment that might not have them back until long after the celebrations had passed. Mother herself...well there were much better parties to attend to than an empty temple. Which was fine. Nezha saw them for New Years’ once every three years or so anyway. Missed New Years' was nothing in the overall of eternity of the Heavenly Realm.

Nezha tried his best not to leave his post during New Years’ festivities, because of the eyes, and also because paranoia meant celebrations = cover for thieves, despite the sheer amount of magic layered over his temple paranoia…was paranoia. That changed…rather recently, considering the spam habits MK and Mei had gotten into as they grew up and became larger yet somehow fonder annoyances to him.

“Still, I swear-”

“Wukong. How many New Years have you spent alone?”

“Come on, you stop by-”

“Once every few decades. For a few minutes.”

Wukong lets his head flop onto the ground. “Still unnecessary.”

“Making sure you don’t drown your sorrows in jiu for eternity, giving you tasks so you can get out of a place you’ve retired to for centuries, so the Heavens don’t impose worser tasks? Yes, definitely.” Nezha deadpanned.

Hmm. That string of lanterns was stretched too far.

Wukong made a sound that was somewhere between disbelief and teasing. “Psshh, Nezhy, I’ve seen you after cases with really bad assholes, remember? Know how long I had to spend convincing my subjects not to try what they saw you doing?”

“Why would you discourage them from following a far more responsible person?” Nezha arranged the plates carefully. Orange for MK, green for Mei, white for Pigsy, pink for Tang, blue for Sandy, gold for the irritating annoyance.

“Right, because over-steeping a dozen packets of black tea in baijiu instead of water is a fantastic example of sobriety.”

Nezha dropped the tin of almond biscuits, catching them just in time with his sash.

“That was-”

“-Most definitely not one time,” Wukong spoke with a fanged grin. “Remember when you told me about the fling with-”

“Wukong!”

The idiotic primate he would dearly love to cleave apart merely cackles at his misery. Unfortunately, he’s still the safest option when it comes to needing someone to sober him up or watch him in his drunken state, in the rare times Nezha cracks from sheer rage and brews his black tea with wine instead of water. Keyword being rare.

“…so didja bring any-”

“I refuse to kill children’s livers.”

“But yours is faiRRRAAAAA-”

“Stabbing your liver is fair game too.”

“Little shit.”

“Who’s not even five feet and uses glamours again?”

At last, with no help from the host whatsoever, Nezha finishes tidying the area and getting it ready for a small party. There are even snacks-double checked by Nezha to be safe-specifically for the monkeys, mostly consisting of fruits.

“Add any fur to this and I will chop off all 84,000 hairs on your body.”

Wukong hides the piece of fur behind his back and whistles.

“Reach for any peaches before they arrive and I will also rob your home of your peach chips.”

Wukong gasps dramatically, falling to the ground as if deeply hurt. “These accusations-”

“Are wholly true, you little-”

“Who’s calling who little-”

Nezha froze as voices definitely not quiet rose up from the foot of the mountain.

“They’re here.”

Wukong frowned at him for no reason as Nezha glamoured his Wind//Fire Wheels back to three-wheeled roller skates. He’d already dressed up before coming down to Flower Fruit Mountain, in a knee-length sleeveless red qipao and dark kuzi, no illusions needed there. His Armillary Sash was wrapped in a slightly fancier style about his arms, still and mimicking sleeves as usual. Rather than twin buns, he’d opted for a simple small one with the rest of his hair let down.

“You…ever going to tell them?”

“I’ve gone lifetimes without doing so with others, Wukong. Remember our deal.”

“Hypocrite.”

“Idiot.”

“You know that’s long gotten as ancient as you, right?”

“You-”

Now, like I said before, Jinzha had a lot put in him bc Yin and Jing were inexperienced. Jing remembers this, and wants to avoid that with Nezha. But you may be wondering, why didn’t Jing just get his parents to help?

Well…

You know how Yins parents banished her (threw her out) for talking back / scampering around with a mortal? Yeah, Jing’s parents weren’t much better.

Some of you will have caught on that Nezha never met his grandparents, only jing’s grandpa. This is because when they found out Jing was seeing Yin they had a screaming match, and Jing’s father threw him out as well. They fled to Jing’s Paternal Grandpa, and then got married.

Now think about Jing’s age.

Jing is and quit aging at 40, Jinzha is and quit aging at 21, which is when they became immortal. Now let’s do the math.

40 - 21 = 19

Jing and Yin were 19 when they had Jinzha.

I’m almost 20, and I sure as hell ain’t ready for no kids. Plus Jing was just starting out as a freelance swordsman, and they had very little funds. The most they have is Jing’s Grandpa giving them a place to stay and what meager funds he has. That, on top of a kid, was… a lot. So when Muzha came along not many years later, Jinzha was “the big brother “ who had to step up.

It’s been thousands of years since then, and Jing has learned a lot more about being a parent over the centuries. He remembers his and Jinzha la fights over it, and actively makes an effort to avoid doing the same to Nezha.

I thought it would be funny to have Macaque know the other celestial primates and Wukong be confused af when these two show up at his house.

So they are besties and currently placing bets on how long it takes Wukong to realize that they are besties. Once he does they plan to go on double dates and trade stories of all the shit they've been up to.

Yuanhou and Mahou have been watching the development of Shadowpeach for the longest time. They have seen so much of it.

I hc that Yuanhou uses his arms the same way Plastic Man does cause, it's funny. I don't have a better reason, I just think it'd be funny. He will just drop stuff off on FFM from his home by just stretching his arm all the way over there.

Well, I would say Wukong, but here comes the question: a Stone Monkey, born from a stone, would be able to reproduce themself? me and @silverlycanthropelover have been discussing LMK Nezha x Ao Bing focused ideas in the notes of this post, and I'm obsessing cus of S5 going to be focused on Nezha's family issues and his tumultuous relationship with his bio dad Li Jing.

I just want Nezha and Ao Bing to meet again and chill about their terrible fathers.

And maybe fall in love.

One idea is that their legendary fight was orchestrated to pit the in-love kids against one another.

Mostly because the love match of the Jade Emperor's Grandson and a Dragon Prince would pose immense political unrest between the factions - they were all notably fighting during the Investiture Crisis/pre-Zhou Dynasty. The Celestial Realm wouldn't stand the next potential royal Consort/Empress being a Dragon, and the Royal Dragons did not wish for their lineage to be tied to the celestials that oppressed them.

So someone in the background stoked unrest that led to the two royal children destroying one another and themselves.

I love ideas of Ao Bing being alive in the LMK timeline, either in stasis in the Underworld, frozen, or confined to a wing of the Eastern Sea Palace. Mostly so he and Nezha can meet once more and confront their childhood mistakes.

We agree that "Utpala/Blue Lotus" would be the name of a fanchild - if not an au version of Mei. Mostly cus the Utpala flower is another sacred flower in Indian Buddhism, and is used to symbolise the "Cold Hells/Narakas" of the Underworld. A very appropriate name for a Divine Serpent/Royal Dragon combo with flower imagery and ice powers respectively. And for a pairing where both have technically died.

One idea we shared is that the "dragon pearl" that Ao Lie "destroyed" in his introduction in Jttw was actually him hiding a pearl-turned-egg Nezha and Ao Bing had unknowingly created together (via the Power of Love™), and refusing to snitch on his fave cousin to the Celestial Realm/Royal Dragons.

The baby dragon/celestial lotus-snake is lavender coloured, and contains enough power to bring gods and dragons alike to their knees (cus she's so cute). <3

so as it seems that you seem to be busy with life, it seems only fair to drop what idea crumbs I have to help tide you over while you deal with life.

imagine this if you will, in one of the many days they spend travelling, reader spirit and the cubs have found a hot spring to relax in after harsh and cold weather, and everyone is taking the time to clean and enjoy the warmth. the cubs are out of sight, assumingly having fun in a further part of the spring, and reader and spirit have bonding time talking about their pasts, helping clean each other’s hair and whatever else girls do in a girls night.

during all of this, the conversation ends up on readers family and how she is worried about their reactions to her being missing. spirit asks about her family, and reader respond; mum, dad, any applicable siblings and pets. and spirit asks if reader is married/mated/whatever term spirit is familiar with. reader says no. fiance? nope. boyfriend? nope. so… any crushes? none on any real people but do fictional count? spirit says sure, tell the stories of your fictional crushes

what are the odds reader has figured out that she is in jjtw and not generic chinese/eastern fantasy?

from her perspective, they would absolutely be fictional with what little info she had. so she spills all the info about them and their adventures and why she had a crush on them, only for spirit to go at the end:

“and warlords?”

“???”

and so spirit informs her with what info she has on them, their battles and conquests, and what exactly they tend to think of humans and do to them.

“best to avoid them at all costs, and keep your knowledge between us”

and so, everything said is kept secret between reader, spirit, and the six eared macaque who immediately spills the secrets to sun wukong.

his ears still work, even in the form of a cub, you know?

what would they focus on, her knowledge about their future, or the fact that she has a crush on them?

anyways hope life gets better and you get good sleep soon.

Spirit would totally try to keep Reader away before she even finds out who the cubs are. (I'm still trying to think of a reason that she hasn't clued in on Macaque. Oh, maybe most people just can't see his ears. They why would reader? Damnit I'm ranting my own questions for my own au!! )

They would totally be concentrated on how she likes them. A few exchanged words on how she knows about them sure and the future. But mostly, their darling likes them!! So why is Spirit telling her to stay away!? No that won't do at all.

They will be righting that... by righting that Wukong will probably give Spirit several scratches. He's a monkey cub. They can't really hurt her and adult monkey demoness.

At least not yet anyway. I gotta say that Spirit is putting a target on her back. Of course, they have figured out that by now, they can't kill her. That would absolutely wreck Reader's life in a bad way. They saw how she reacted with Spirit getting hurt.

But Boi, they will be very vocal about how she had crushes on them once they return to normal. Oh boy, they will be over the moon!

She can definitely expect (though unknowingly) to get lots of Monkey cuddles tonight.

Of course this also brings up how she'd react to knowing that they are real and warlords!? Okay so finding out that they're real is scary enough. She may have a crush but that doesn't mean she isn't also afraid. They killed people after all. Sun Wukong fought against the celestial realm and almost won! And to her limited knowledge of the jttw storyline Macaque had almost as much power as he did.

Of course in the original Macaque was cannibalistic apparently. (I haven't read that part. I know more of lmk than jttw but I'm trying to read it, slowly) HE IS NOT CANNIBALISTIC IN MY AUS! Why because I said so.

But Reader doesn't know this and so she is absolutely terrified. They were also last spotted where she had appeared when she came to this world. Did they know who she was? Did they hear her? She of course pushes these thoughts away, she shouldn't be ridiculous.

Lego Monkie Kid Fandom

Imagine if you will, that Black Myth Wukong exists in video game form in the lmk world.

(Spoilers for Black Myth Wukong bellow)

(I've been binging the cutscenes on YouTube, so I might be missing some things since I don't have the game)

MK decides to play it post Season 5, because of course he does, and is mortified by the beginning of the game.

The game starts out with Wukong's death at the hand of Erlang Shen and the celestial realm. We don't know at this point that Wukong and Erlang planned this because reasons. All we see at first is epic fight scene + Wukong gets got.

I doubt MK would be able to make it past that. On the off chance that he did, I think he would be floored by the portrayal of Red Son and his family because... if you've seen Red Son's (or Red Boy's) design, you know that that looks nothing like Red Son in LMK.

And then Red Boy ends himself.

Like... how would MK be able to make it past that?

Mei might be able to make it through the game (making jokes about Erlang being gay for Wukong once she gets to that part). If she does, she'll definitely tell spoilers to MK and Red Son.

And Red Son...

Oh boy...

The whole DBK affair + how Red Son was conceived and what for + his father's fate...

Yeah, he's not very fond of that game...

But each of them has to appreciate the work put into the storytelling and the soundtrack.

Imagine if they told Wukong, DBK, and Princess Iron Fan...

Wild Robot LMK au

The Wild Robot but Lego Monkie kid.

The Wild Robot but Wukong is this giant stone golem created by Nuwa meant to be a heavenly guard or a weapon for the heavens.

The Wild Robot but stone Wukong before awakening falls to earth onto Flower fruit mountain and his main function is to protect. He spends his first waking hours trying to protect animals who find him weird, call him a monster, say he's keeping them captive and ripping him apart as he is prone to attack anything he perceives as a threat while trying to find something to protect.

The Wild Robot but in trying to climb a tree, Wukong unknowingly breaks a branch a monkey mother and her cubs were sleeping on, killing all but the runt of the family whom Wukong saves and is about to leave alone until the cub wakes up, calling the simian his father and imprinting on him.

The Wild Robot but Wukong finds a newfound purpose to protect this runt. But soon winter will come and the monkeys will need to climb to the highest peaks of the mountain to stay warm while the rest stay on the ground and now he needs to find a way to teach this cub to climb.

The Wild Robot but Wukong finds Macaque, a solitude loner who wants nothing to do with the odd duo until he finds he can exchange his intellect for protection from everything trying to kill him on the island.

The Wild Robot but slowly, it seems that the odd trio form a bond and the cub grows from a runt to a young adolescent who's an oddball from the rest but is compassionate and cares for his strange fathers nonetheless. Wukong at first finds the cub delicate, almost impossible to take care off but slowly adapts and finds little rewards in that.

The Wild Robot but Wukong at first gives the child a long lengthy title filled with grand promises of power and strength that he's known from protocol in how the celestials were named but comes to call the boy Xiaotian given that he fell from the sky.

The Wild Robot but every animal on the mountain looks down in disdain at the weird family except for a couple while Macaque fiercely doubles down to defend his family's friends' honor as the stone golem looks in confusion and disappointment.

The Wild Robot but as time passes the golem's body wears down, rough jagged edges meant to strike fear smooth down and are covered in wear, tear and moss while their home grows with even more mini paintings illustrating Xiaotian's growth.

The Wild Robot but the boy is no longer a boy and learns the truth of his family. He grows distant from his parents Wukong but the golem persists to help his son the cub regardless of his comparatively small size and weak arms to prepare him for the big climb.

The Wild Robot but during winter after Xiaotian and the rest of the monkeys leave, Macaque stays with Wukong and they gather the rest of the animals on the base of the mountain into their den to hibernate until spring. There they hold a truce and sleep in peace.

The Wild Robot but Xiaotian grows into his own, becoming the leader of the monkeys having a new perspective and other advantages the other simians don't have and comes down in spring to apologize to Wukong. That he realizes that by killing the rest of Xiaotian's birth family, he most likely saved him from being killed for being the runt.

The Wild Robot but heaven come back to retrieve their weapon but the animals defend their friendly giant and work together to prevent the destruction caused by the celestials from spreading.

The Wild Robot but Wukong gets captured anyway to study for how he'd changed protocol but Xiaotian learns from his dad the simian and climbs the clouds to infiltrate heaven to rescue him.

The Wild Robot but Xiaotian finds Wukong almost dead but after confessing how he misses his father, Wukong recognizes his son's voice and comes back. Together, the two leap from the heavens with Wukong holding his boy close to his chest, tucking him in like when he was small enough to fit in the golem's hand and shielding him from the impact and landing back on Flower fruit mountain to reunite with Macaque and complete their family.

LMK Fic To-Do List (2025)

So, I recently ordered these delightful bundle of AO3 Tags as drinks stickers that kyri45 made and they came in a couple days ago. Getting them inspired me to challenge myself by writing fics with themes surrounding an Ao3 tag. I mean, I was already planning on working on a couple of side projects, but this is a fun way to get most of them out!

Found Family - "Queen of the Mountain"

Idea: We all know this one. While I was tempted to assign to tag to a completely different idea, I decided to reserve this tag for my main fic since it's a good reminder that QotM needs to be prioritized above all of the other projects below.

Enemies to Lovers - "Like Salt on a Scraped Knee"

Idea: When they first met, Xiaotian was a young celestial guarding the sealed Monkey King and Yue was a desperate daughter trying to free her father. In present day, their relationship hadn't improved at all. Actually, it became worse. Tired of their constant squabbling, Lady Guanyin forces them in a celestial equivalent of a get-along shirt. They now have experience being in each other's shoes.

Angst - "Accidental Necromancy"

Idea: This is a Thrall/Mensheng-centric oneshot that I wanted to get out at some point. It expands on his backstory and focuses on the indignity of being brought back to life (in more ways than one). It's all set in his POV and is filled with a lot of identity issues, the idea (or unidea) of personhood, and the slippery slope of accidental fatherhood.

Fluff - "In One Basket"

Idea: The story of how Louhou and Jidu came to be. Shadowpeach and Iceflower wanted kids to fill the empty nest Yue left behind when she went to school. Heaven forbade them from carrying any children to term or else they'd "confiscate" the babies. Made an entire law about it too. Yue finds a loophole. I originally wanted to write it into Act II as a cute little story that Yue tells Xiaotian and Xiaojiao at a campfire. It was also supposed to serve as one of the many examples of the Celestial Realm being control freaks.

Smut - "Send Noods"

Idea: Yuetian fic exploring the physical side of their relationship as they learn together. Set post-QotM, so I won't be working on this one until the end of QotM. (Will include Yuetian from different AUs too.)

Canon Divergence - "golden, sweet, and just for me"

Idea: A series of drabbles focusing on the alternate universe Yue dreamed up in "sweeter than apricot honey". Focuses mostly on Yuetian's life as they move out of FFM and into Megapolis. (Title still undecided.)

Mutual Pining - "A Winter Garden for Us"

Idea: A oneshot focusing on Iceflower's pining and subtle romance while Yue remains obvlious. It starts when Shanzha pulls RinRin out of Diyu and ends when they exchange their marriage vows in the same temple. Also, the Hot Springs Scandal will be featured in here.

Slowburn - "The Longest Dance in the World"

Idea: A oneshot focusing on Shadowpeach's relationship throughout the centuries. How Wukong met Macaque and practically dragged him home. How FFM grew to accept and trust the Warrior. How Wukong fell first (but never realized it until way way later) and Macaque fell harder (and was painfully aware of it). Will include the Closet Makeout Scene from their POV.

Hurt/Comfort - "Secret Keeper"

Idea: A oneshot focusing on Red Son that jumps between the past and the present. An insight to what he endured while Yue was sealed away and how he tries to heal after everything he's lost.

Chao-Xing bolted through the forest, not thinking of where she was going other than away. 

She glanced over her shoulder to see how far ahead she was, Baba always said it was key to be aware of her enemies positions. She couldn't see the muntjac demon chasing her anywhere.

I'm safe. I'm safe. I'm safe.

She sat down against a tree, taking in sharp, painful gulps of air, her breathing hurt.

Why did breathing hurt? And what was the red stuff coming out of her arm? It was wet and stuck to her fur in matted, sticky clumps as it dried.

Her whole arm was hurting.

Why's this happening?! She wanted to cry so bad, but she had to be quiet. Baba and Papa said it was very important to be quiet if she was hiding from someone dangerous.

Hide quietly and wait for them. That's what she was supposed to do, so she was doing just that!

Her ears flicked at a scream that sounded like it was coming from right next to her, it sounded like her, but there was no one there. She was hearing things that didn't happen a lot lately, it was really weird.

She nearly yelped at the sound of heavy panting directly in her ears. The muntjac meanie was close by, she could smell him now. He stalked around the trees, sniffing the air, she covered her mouth and squeezed her eyes shut.

“Oh xiǎo gōng zhǔ, come out, come out wherever you are~” the demon called out.

She pressed herself deeper into the shadows of the tree.

Baba! Papa! Help!

“Don't be scared, I just want to bring you to a friend of mine, he wants to meet you very badly~” he snickered.

The muntjac stopped moving, he was close, it sounded like his heart was beating directly in her ears.

A blaring, painfully loud screech of a bark erupted from the demon.

She screamed at the horrid sound, frantically trying to stop the ringing in her ears. She scrambled to her feet- she was spinning. Why was she spinning? She was trying to run! Why was the whole world spinning?!

Something warm and wet was inside her ears, she could hear the liquid oozing out onto her hands, she felt sick to her stomach.

“There you are, you little brat!” The muntjac shouted.

She dropped to the forest floor, crying, the world spun faster.

She just wanted to play! Why was this happening?!

Instead of that horrible barking sound, she heard more yelling, and two new heartbeats. She smelled something new too, it was… raspberries…?

There aren't any raspberries here.

It was a lot quieter now. The muntjac was gone, but the other two heartbeats remained. Once the world stopped spinning so badly, she looked up.

Two monkeys she had never seen before were standing over her.

These new monkeys had face masks like her and Papa and Baba. The shorter one had bright blue on his cheeks and dark blue above his eyes with bright red around his nose, the other had a much calmer, blue-gray mask, he had very long arms too.

The long armed monkey had orangish blond fur, the shorter one had blue-gray fur with bits that were lighter.

The pair of them gave her toothless smiles.

“Hello Chao-Xing, it's good to finally meet you.” The long armed one said.

“We certainly didn't think we'd meet you like this.” the shorter one added.

“You… know me…?” She asked hesitantly.

Her parents said to be weary of strangers, especially ones that acted nice when they were actually mean.

“Yep! We're your uncles! This is Yuanhou, and I'm Mahou-.”

“Can you take me home?” she interrupted.

“Sure thing kiddo, we were heading that way too.” The long armed one, Yuanhou? gave her a big smile.

He reached out to pick her up, his arms stretched to reach her. That was new, she didn't know monkeys had stretchy arms!

“Whoa.” She chirped, curiously poking at his arms once he was holding her.

“I got long arms.” He shrugged.

She nodded, getting herself comfortable in her new uncle's hold. The pair of monkeys started walking towards the beach in the direction of the mountain.

The movement jostled her hurting arm, it was hurting a lot more now. She frowned and poked the source of the red stuff, that was a bad idea; it hurt even more and more red stuff came out!

Yuanhou stopped and pulled her away from his body. No fair, he was warm.

“Did you get hurt?” He asked.

“I think so.” She shoved her hurting arm in his face.

“Oh my, you did get hurt.” Mahou commented, peeking over Yuanhou’s shoulder.

“What's the red stuff?” She asked.

Her uncles stared at her in disbelief for a second. They glanced between each other, talking without words like Papa and Baba would. She needed to know how they did that.

“You haven't gotten hurt before, have you?” Yuanhou prompted.

She shook her head.

“It's blood, it's supposed to stay in you.” He told her.

“Well-”

“Don't. She's three.” Yuanhou cut his mate off.

“Huh?” She tilted her in confusion.

“Don't worry about it kiddo, I'll fix that for you.” Yuanhou said.

He pressed his nose against her arm and whispered something she didn't catch or understand. Her arm felt all tingly like when she sat on it weird. Her uncle pulled his head back.

“See? All better?” He turned her arm back to her.

“Oh~” she cooed curiously.

There wasn't any of the red stuff coming out at all! The red stuff that had come out was still stuck to her fur though, but it didn't hurt one bit anymore!

“What’d you do?!” She asked.

“Just a little healing spell, works great huh?” he prompted.

“Yeah it did!” She agreed.

“Now let's get you home, I'm sure your dads are absolutely worried  sick about you.” Mahou said, roughing up her hair a bit.

She giggled and clung back onto Yuanhou. She liked her new uncles.

Wukong was this close to declaring war on whoever had dared to touch his daughter.

He had left her with some of the little monkeys on the smaller islets closer to the volcanoes protecting his kingdom. She had wanted to explore it, he hadn't seen any harm in it, or leaving her there when he felt someone entering the barrier he had set up to warn him of anyone approaching by sea.

It has just been a fisherman, well he was telling himself it was just a fisherman and absolutely definitely not someone he once knew. The guy had been blown off course by a storm, he gave him directions to get back to the mainland and sent him on his way.

He came back to where he left his cub to a group of panicking monkeys and no Chao-Xing in sight.

According to the little monkeys, a muntjac demon had come out of nowhere, startled Chao-Xing into her shadow, followed her through her own shadow portal, and they hadn't seen or heard anything of her since.

He searched that entire island with no luck on finding his daughter, she must've teleported to a different one by accident, she didn't have the best control of her portals when she was scared.

Unfortunately, that meant he needed Mihou to help find her. His mate was going to be absolutely pissed at him.

Hopefully he takes most of his anger out on the muntjac. He thought as he neared their home.

He jumped off his cloud and immediately caught the two intertwined, unfamiliar scents, along with his daughter's, and blood.

He could hear them inside his home.

He slammed the door open.

“What do you do to my daughter?!” He bellowed at the intruders.

A gibbon and a mandrill he had never seen before were sitting on his couch with his mate and cub. They were all staring at him, Mihou grinned as he stood up.

“I win.” He announced smugly.

The other two primates rolled their eyes.

“What?”

“It's an old bet, don't worry about it, peaches.” Mihou told him, shutting the door he had thrown open seconds before.

“Who are they?” he gestured to the strangers playing with his cub.

“Tongbei Yuanhou and Chikao Mahou. They're my brothers.” Mihou said.

Those sound somewhat familiar, but I think I would remember meeting someone like them.

“Ah… do I know them?” He asked.

“No, they're just the Long Armed Gibbon and the Red Bottomed Horse Monkey, nothing important about them.” Mihou shrugged, giving him a teasing grin.

He frowned at his mate, then sighed. He was too tired for his mate's games.

“Mihou, I have no clue what you're talking about, who are they?” He asked.

“The other celestial primates. There's four of us original celestial primates.” The mandrill piped up casually.

He blinked at the pair.

“Buddha told you about them, remember?” Mihou teased.

Oh.

“Can't believe you forgot about that.” His mate snickered.

“Yeah, well I wasn't exactly in an information absorbing mood at the time.” He growled.

“I know, that's why I won.” Mihou laughed, giving him a quick peck on the cheek.

He pointedly ignored the giggling of his cub. Even his baby knew there were apparently two other celestial primates before he did.

“So, uh, what happened with her?” He pointed to the giggling cub in question.

“There was a really mean deer that chased me, it screamed and it really hurt my ears, then bó bo scared it away and brought me home!” Chao-Xing chirped happily.

His cub leaned too far forward as she explained, tipping over the back of the couch, before he could react, Yuanhou’s arm stretched out and caught her. The gibbon had a look of tired acceptance on his face as he plopped Chao-Xing back down.

She was still struggling with balance.

Wukong eyed the bloodied cotton balls on the coffee table. Thankfully it looked like dried blood and the injury was likely nothing worse than a few popped ear drums, muntjac demons were loud enough to pop his own ears, Mihou would be freaking out if there was more significant damage.

His mate raised a questioning eyebrow at him.

“I sensed someone near the island and didn't wanna risk her getting caught in a fight, I've got no idea how that demon got past the seals or the volcanoes.” He explained.

“And how did you two get in?” He turned to the pair still sitting on his couch.

“Just walked in.” Mahou shrugged.

“I can get to most places pretty easily.” Yuanhou added.

“That's not much of an explanation.” He pointed out 

The gibbon grinned at him.

“Well I can't let you know all my secrets, can I?” he snickered.

“Are you all over dramatic bastards too?” Wukong huffed.

Mihou, gently, yanked his tail, he shot him a glare over his shoulder.

“Little ears are listening.” the shadow monkey reminded.

“Big talk coming from you, plum.” He retorted.

“What are you going to do about it?” Mihou inquired, tilting his head with that stupid smug grin on his stupid pretty face.

“Oh, I know all your weaknesses, moonlight.” he said, stepping towards the darker monkey.

“Oh really? Like what?” Mihou took the bait.

“Hug attack!”

He flung himself at his mate, wrapping his arms around his moon in a tight embrace, effectively pinning the shadows arms against his side. He lifted the slightly taller monkey off the ground, his dangling legs kicked uselessly at him.

“And you're ticklish~”

He tickled his mate's sides, Mihou squealed in laughter, his six ears fanned all the way out.

“And how sensitive your ears are.”

He nuzzled his nose against his moon’s left set of ears. The delicate, beautiful ears fluttered away from his touch shyly.

“Ah, young love.” Mahou sighed wistfully.

“Oh shut it.”

Wukong snapped his head around at the sudden reminder that there were other people here.

“You got a cherry face Papa!” Chao-Xing giggled, gleefully pointing out his definitely not very hot face.

“Oh you think you're getting out of this, lychee?” Wukong challenged, addressing the amused cub.

She stopped giggling, stared at him for a second, then took off, bolting for their bedroom. He glanced at Mihou, his mate nodded with a grin.

A shadow portal opened above them, there was a sharp, cut off squeal, their cub fell out of the portal into his open arms.

“Gotcha you little scamp!” He declared.

“No!” She giggled, pinning her ears back so he couldn't reach the more sensitive, more fun to tickle glowing part.

“Hmm, how do I get around this?” He pondered.

“Oh, I know!”

He tossed his cub into the air, catching her around the waist with his tail. He tickled her now exposed stomach, and on command, all six of her ears fanned out with laughter.

He quickly turned her right side up and nuzzled her closest set of ears with his nose.

She squealed just like her baba.

“Baba! Baba! Help!” she squeaked, trying to push his cold nose away from her.

“Hmm… nope!” Mihou chirped, nuzzling her other set of ears.

Their daughter melted into a puddle of bubbly laughter, grinning ears to ears the whole time.

“Aww, you guys are so sweet!” Yuanhou cooed.

Oh. Right. Guests are here.

Wukong let his daughter wriggle out of his grasp, tail poised to catch her if she lost her balance again. One of Mihou's ears twitched.

“You hungry lychee?” He guessed.

“Yeah! Are we gonna eat soon?!” she exclaimed, spinning back around with wildly wagging tails.

“She really did get your appetite.” Mahou  snickered.

Yuanhou suddenly scooped his daughter up without warning, she cheered for the sudden uppies.

“We have to talk with your parents about some things, so how about you go play with some of your friends. didn't you say you were making a gift for your friend Quǎn?” He prompted.

“It's for Quǎn’s Baba. And why can't I be here?” Chao-Xing questioned.

“We're talking about grown up things, are you a grown up?” The gibbon prompted.

“No…” Chao-Xing pouted.

“You're not missing anything.” He reassured her.

Wukong glanced at his mate, the shadow monkey looked just as confused as he did. Yuanhou set their daughter down on the porch, she pouted at him for a second until one of her friends, he couldn't see clearly enough to tell which, called out to her. In the blink of an eye Chao-Xing was off playing.

“Have fun!” Yuanhou called after her.

The gibbon shut the door and turned back to them. Mahou shoved him from behind, he almost tripped onto the couch, having to flip over and land awkwardly on it. Mihou was unceremoniously dropped beside him.

“So, we might have made a slight error and forgot to teach you how we reproduce.” Mahou said.

“What the fu-” Yuanhou slapped his hand across his mouth.

“Shush, class is in session.” The gibbon scolded.

“This is gonna be terrible.” Mihou muttered, burying his face in his scarf.

“It all starts when two celestial primates, monkeys in your case, love each other very much.”

“Bó Bo Mahou, do you have a red butt?” Chao-Xing asked.

Her uncle sputtered, staring at her with wide eyes. She looked around as she scratched her neck, there was nothing that alarming near her. Weird.

“Excuse me?” He said after a moment.

“You the Red Bottomed Horse Monkey.” She said.

He blinked slowly at her.

“So is your butt red? It'd be weird if no, it'd be like Baba not having six ears.” She explained.

“It gets more red when he's embarrassed.” Yuanhou snickered.

“Yuanhou!” Mahou hissed.

The gibbon chuckled while his mate stormed off to the living room where Papa was talking with Ba. She didn't know what was so funny about it, Mahou just got mad. Yuanhou started up a conversation with Baba, something about her being born with teeth, his cubs weren't born like that, she tuned them out.

Her neck was itchy, and her hands.

She picked through her fur, searching for any dirt or bugs making her feel itchy. She frowned, her fur was pretty clean. Something must be wrong, otherwise she wouldn’t feel so itchy. Why was she itchy?

Ugh, even her throat was itchy. She gagged at sensation. She felt a little dizzy too.

“Lychee, you okay?” Baba asked, tapping her back with his tail.

“My throat feels funny. Itchy.” She answered.

The itchy was getting worse, something very bad was going to happen for sure. She knew it.

“What's going on?” Yuanhou questioned.

“I think something’s wrong.” Baba said, gently pulling her over to him.

He let go of her hands with a short, alarmed chirp, then grabbed them again. She saw the blotchy red spots scattered across her skin, something bad really was happening.

“Shit!” Yuanhou knelt down in front of her.

“I’m going to put my hands on your chest, and you're going to feel a little funny.” He told her.

She nodded, his hands wrapped around her chest and back, a strange tingling sensation came from the contact. Yuanhou’s hands were glowing again.

The itchiness went away and she felt less dizzy.

Yuanhou pulled away with a relieved sigh, he patted her head lightly.

“You're okay kid.” He said.

“What… happened?” Papa asked.

When did he stop talking with Ba? She wondered.

He looked really worried too.

“Allergic reaction, a bad one from the looks of it.” Yuanhou explained.

“Allergies?” Baba echoed.

“What could she be allergic to?” He asked.

Mahou frowned.

“Chao-Xing, what did you eat at dinner?” he questioned.

“Uh… lots of things… normal things…” she answered.

“Did you eat anything new?”

She frowned, trying to think of anything new she had eaten. She ate lots of what she normally did, Papa had tried to get her to try something new.

“Evil banana!” She blurted.

“Chao-Xing, bananas aren't evil.” Papa sighed.

“A banana tricked me Papa! It smelled tasty, but had banana in it!” She shouted.

“Is that the only new thing you ate?” Mahou  asked.

“Yeah. Sneaky evil banana.” she nodded.

“She's a surprisingly picky eater.” Baba commented.

“I'm not picky!” She objected.

Something slick and slimy smeared across her hand, she snapped her head back around, Mahou had rubbed a nasty banana on her!

“Ew! Stop it!” She tried to pull her hand away.

“Hold on, I'm testing you.” He said, not letting her hand go.

She huffed at him. She hated being anywhere near bananas, they were the nastiest fruit in all the realms. Her hand was itching again.

“It’s itchy again.” She complained.

“It should be, you’re very allergic to it.” Mahou said matter of factly.

He tossed the nasty banana somewhere else and whipped the disgusting banana smear off her hand. Yuanhou made it stop itching again.

“Thank you Bó Bo Yuanhou.” She chirped.

“Anytime kiddo, we gotta talk with your parents a bit more, so you can go play.” he told her, giving her a gentle nudge up off the ground.

“Can I watch my show Papa?” She asked.

“Sure thing lychee, just keep the volume down.” Papa ruffled her hair.

She hurried over to the TV and switched it on. Her favorite show was one about Papa and Baba when they were big kids, and it had Aunt Yùtù in it too!

Papa and Baba said it wasn't true, cause there was no monkey king before Papa, Baba was never yellow or blue, and it didn't have nǎi nai Yuze or nǎi nai Chūn anywhere!

Even if it was fake she still loved all of it, well, she didn't like the little ginseng root, he was annoying and mean to her parents.

She got herself comfortable with a blanket, and sat back to watch.

Havoc snarled at the pathetic demon cowering beneath him.

The sniveling coward had sent one of his spies to snoop around Flower Fruit Mountain against his direct orders. The muntjac spy had come across the little princess by pure chance.

It's a miracle the small demon survived the consequences of his stupid actions.

“I-i was just trying to gather vital information! A-and if my spy had caught the girl, you would have exactly what you wanted delivered to you-” he squeezed the demon's throat to silence his worthless mutterings.

“And everyone here would have been killed without so much as a thought from the Monkey King, I do not yet have the resources to challenge him openly. I have spent the last two years since my return rebuilding my power, I'm not going to let an fool like you reveal my return prematurely.” He snarled.

He threw the demon to the ground.

“Next time you disobey me, you're dead.” He hissed.

“Y-yes your highness! I-it w-won’t happen a-again!” The coward sputtered.

“Make sure of it.” he spat.

The pathetic demon made himself scarce, the demons of this age had no idea how to handle someone such as himself. His kind had changed distastefully in the two thousand and a half thousand years since his death.

He sat down in his throne, a throne he had carved himself upon establishing his hold on this territory. He shaped it to be a perfect show of his power, with enough space for a certain six eared monkey to sit beside him.

Perhaps he would allow Liu'er's daughter to have a seat beside them once he disposed of the Monkey King.
