I'd also add that Diego's mother was also potentially vulnerable. She's from Mexico, which I believe is predominantly catholic?? She might have faced predjudice for having a baby under suspious and supernatural circumstances.

already married and a housewife, she might have been suspected of having an affair or maybe she wasn't ready for motherhood yet (she also has a degree so perhaps she's taking a break from school before going into work?) so it's possible that's why she put him up for adoption.

I think Monica at least and possibly Victoria probably gave up their babies willingingly, which is interesting since their children became v close later on:

Luther's mother was a glamorous business woman, so she probably didn't want a child in the first place, or at least not at this moment.

Allison's mother was a teacher, and probably another career oriented woman. She may not have wanted a baby, or it may have been the wrong time for her. Maybe she felt that she didn't have the support necessary to care for a child.
