Liver disease can develop for various reasons, and certain risk factors increase the possibility of liver damage or illness. If you have one or more of these risk factors, it is imperative to consider getting tested for liver disease to perceive and address any potential problems early.

the good news is that we can rule out cancer for ava
#the bad news is that despite the blood tests indicating a problem with the liver the scans showed nothing#so we're just going to treat it as epilepsy for now and hope like hell that makes a difference

Hello everyone
I know a lot of ppl on this blog love Pepper (my cat) so I thought I’d just give yall a little update that she’s had some health issues recently & she’s having surgery in the morning (just to remove a chipped tooth!!). She’s going to be fine but I thought I’d let yall know!
Anyways if yall wanna distract me tomorrow because I’ll be hella emotional that would be v nice
#she gave us a bit of a scare because she stopped eating#but the pancreatitis test came back negative!! and her kidneys + liver are both fine#blood cells r normal#she’s just lost some weight because of the pain of her chipped tooth#and that’s scary 4 cats because they Have To Eat#consistently

my endocrinologist reduced my T dose because im Too Good at making More on my Own
#wind howls#last time i had a blood test it was at like 12 which was low so she bumped me up to 80 units per shot#but i had another blood test after the switch to 80 and my T spiked to 50 which apparently is too much and not sustainable in the long run#it started to impact my liver too#not dangerously thankfully ! not even close and she said all my blood looks good#but she did lower me back to 70 units jic LOL#she said the 12 was probably just a fluke and my body probably just fluctuates with T levels a lot more than she expected#and the fluke thing makes sense bc my levels are usually higher than that lol#anyway i got myself little snacks and treats teehee#and im feeling all good :D

this september has been absolutely cursed so far. back to back misfortunes and setbacks.
the funniest one (or well, the one i can't help but laugh about) is how my new doc at the health center was gravely worried over my hemoglobin count. surely it is a sign my hrt dose is too high and all my organs are going to melt!
i have just recently graduated from the trans hrt specialty clinic after a long time of monitoring my hemoglobin and figuring out a dose that actually keeps me just above the lower threshold of the clinical range i'm aiming for. they figured my blood is just Like That as a genetic thing. the only time in my life i've had a hemoglobin count within the reference ranges is the few years when i ate mostly vegan and donated blood regularly. i was told by a school nurse at fifteen that i should donate blood when i turn 18 because my blood is so thick.
like it's p likely i was a bit dehydrated during that latest blood draw too. the doc needs to chill. there were much more worrying things in the results than the hemoglobin. stuff that's the actual reason i went to get the tests done.
but my blood being thick and rich like a luxurious vampire delicacy never fails to make me laugh
#overshare best share clearly#it's not super worrying#it's actually stuff that's been Going On for a long time (and actually been getting better lately)#mostly a combo of how i can't manage to eat right exercise enough and destress and that's taking a toll on my body#and then how my meds and the amount of pain meds i take for the migraines are hard on my liver#this all stops being funny real fast when you stop to think#about how a doctor is ignoring pain medication overuse and weight as problems (docs favorites)#in favor of seeing hrt as the culprit#(weight itself ofc isn't the problem here (or ever))#(my weight gain just happens to be the result of the same process that has fucked up other shit)#so you bet i'm going to donate blood and superhydrate myself before the next test i got scheduled for in month and a half

Honestly sooooooo fucked up that I thought my overwhelming daily fatigue and debilitating body pain was a product of the awful working conditions I was under for years and years... and yet, despite being out of work for half a year now, I'm still so fatigued and in pain all the time??? Like come on man that's not fair
Oh well maybe I have liver disease and they'll treat it and then I am magically so much more energized like I was as a kid. We can only hope !!!!
#speculation nation#negative/#um. not hoping i have liver disease but the blood tests blatantly state that it's not working entirely right.#not like major enough to be an immediate health emergency. or else my doctor probably wouldve called me#rather than referring me to radiology.#im just hoping that it's something easy to treat. it really would be so nice for my problems to be fixed like that.#and im mentioning it in conjunction with the fatigue just bc it can cause fatigue. ya kno.#probably is a good thing i caught it this early whatever it is.#like maybe it's Not fibromyalgia. but the fact that i pursued diagnosis for fibromyalgia spurred the blood tests#which alerted my doctor to the abnormal liver enyzmes.#if i hadnt pursued diagnosis who knows how much longer this wouldve gone on like this...#so! im still not happy to be doing a Fucking ultrasound for my liver. but. if it means catching whatever this is early#then like. it'll be worth it. doubly so if it does end up fixing my fatigue problems.#or even just some of them. i dont even need to be at 100% of what others can do#i just wanna be able to do half an hour of chores without feeling like im going to collapse 😭😭😭😭#it's really very troublesome. my life would be so much easier if i had the energy to do more than one thing per day.#(and if i do more than one thing i end up nearly bedridden the rest of the day. like today lol.)#im just trying to look on the bright sides so i dont start freaking out again about my liver not working right.#ultimately. even if i dont feel amazing. i dont feel all that different from how ive lived the past decade of my life.#or at least the most recent years. i kind of feel like my chronic pain has gotten worse. maybe fatigue too.#though i do know ive been dealing with both for however long. idk. might be recency bias. who knows.#ANYWAYS. im not actively dying. so i'll live to my appointments. and then i will hope it's smooth sailing from there.#(oh god i hope i wont need surgery. i dont want surgery. please im trying to graduate college i do not want surgery)#(god why is my luck always so bad)

The weenie dog’s okay, btw. He was diagnosed with Old, so now he takes a liver support supplement
#she speaks#Ollie#fecal was negative and abdominal palpation yielded no discomfort#but the blood test showed some abnormal liver values#which is pretty common in senior dogs#and he’s like ~15#Cushings is the big concern obviously#but he’s a healthy boy and we’re all very attentive to our animals#and we have an amazing vet team#no other symptoms of cushings were present as well so it’s just a matter of watching in case that changes#vet wants him back in in a month#and we’re gonna bring in the ~15 yo border collie for testing too just to be safe#she still acts like a puppy you’d never guess she’s around 15 or so years old#so does lala tbh if not for all the grey you’d never guess he’s around 15 either

few days ago I offhandedly mentioned having my medical disasters show up in a handful of specialty text books, but hindsight is 20/20 and one of those is Extremely funny.
Tldr my rheumatologist penned a chapter in a textbook with a name that could not fit in a tweet, in which he used my 'strange' case of fibromyalgia to show the variability of the condition in children. Or at least that what my mother said it said. I was like 10 and also blind, and so did not read that particular work myself.
The funny thing is that despite him diagnosing me with the condition the second time I saw him after juvenile arthritis was ruled out via bloodtest, I never had fibromyalgia.
He misdiagnosed me and missed the again, in hindsight, extremely obvious case of EDS. He was the one who originally noted I was bizarrely flexible and that it was strange that my wide spread debilitating pain Wasn't localized to my joints, as it normally is in both Fibromyalgia and Juvenile Arthritis. It also came with my retinas continuing to try to fall off, and frequent bouts of internal bleeding. He was also the one to prescribe physical therapy to treat the fact my legs bent wrong and could barely walk because of it. But nah, surely that was unrelated to the pain thing. Fibromyalgia. Slap it in a textbook and call it a day. Come back in a month for another fucking blood test.
#like#i had to see him to manage a medication a Different doctor had said i should be on#to treat the immune system disease i also did not have.#at the time#The medication Did give me a faulty immune system for a few years#due to being an immunosuppressant#and also severe liver damage.#thats what the blood tests were for. to check liver function

I love this particular ADHD medicine I'm on bc I'm actually able to be somewhat creative on it. Haven't been able to write in ages because I'm too unfocused but it's definitely been helping. Apparently, some studies found it was more effective for complex tasks, while other ADHD meds were found to be more effective for simple tasks, and I definitely find that's true for me. It's also a narcolepsy medication so on top of the ADHD it's been helping some with general fatigue from CFS
#it's provigil/modafinil#apparently long-term it can cause liver issues in some people#so it's probably good to get regular blood work to make sure it isn't doing anything weird#I already get regular liver value tests because naltrexone can potentially cause serious liver issues
