look. a subgenre going in a direction you don't like for a while doesn't make it "dead". reboots, sequels, prequels, and stuff like that are the trend in all sorts of media, not just magical girl anime.

also, there are all sorts of cool magical girl works that aren't anime, and i don't just mean manga and light novels. there's live-action stuff, VNs, webcomics, written works, cartoons from countries other than japan...

and guess what? i'm not against dark magical girl stuff by any means. madoka magica was what got me into magical girl stuff in the first place! i love all sorts of magical girl media, both light and dark, though i don't claim to be an expert by any means. there's still so much stuff i haven't watched/read/played...

Dean gets hit with a love spell during a case and looks at Cas first trope except him and Cas are already together, so Cas and Sam assume nothings gonna change. And nothing really does, except that Dean now openly holds Cas's hand when their out walking around and he holds onto Cas's waist from behind when their just standing and he lets Cas scratch and play with his hair without pulling away from embarrassment and worst of all is the kissing!

Sam will be explaining what they should do next to catch the monster and when he looks up he sees Dean staring softly at Cas and Cas staring softly back which is fine, that's what they do, they stare, so Sam turns away. But when he looks back for the second time he sees Dean start peppering little smooches all over the angels face, just quick kisses on his nose and cheeks and forehead and neck too, all while they both smile dumbly, which is also fine, its not like Sam hasn't seen this before, they were exactly like this in their honeymoon phase at the beginning of their relationship, so he turns away again trying to focus but then he has a question to ask Cas and he turns and- HOLY SHIT THEY'RE MAKING OUT! RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM THEY'RE USING TONGUE AND CAS'S HANDS ARE AROUND DEAN'S WAIST AND HIS HANDS ARE IN CAS'S HAIR AND THEIR MOANING AND SAM NEEDS TO BEAT THEM OVER THE HEAD WITH A STICK-

I needed groceries again. I went to the same grocery store at the edge of town as I did every week. Meat, veggies, bread. Always from the same place even when they rearranged the displays, its the one I need. There are no other shopper by the time I check out, the girl at the checkout counter doesn't look me in the eye, doesn't even try to make small talk, can feel my gaze digging through her. My Self is a sun, look at me and burn. It's funny really how they act in the face of something so human its not. I can't help, but let out a chuckle. The girl jumps, "is-is something wrong?" "My petunias died," another failure. No matter how many I blasted with frost none would break to my whim for a year round flower. It was hard, but it should be simple. The girl only mumbled out an apology before pushing my bag towards me. I deposited the money on the counter then slid the stone I had carved a ward upon, "If I don't make it back from where I've gone. just know I want you to have this." She nodded and put it in the drawer with the others. Returning home was simple. There then here, here then there. No need for in-betweens now. I had dinner to cook. Dumping the ingredients in the cauldron with water from the well and a handful of rosemary torn from that impetuous weed. I had to stir it as it bubbled and boil and bubbled and boiled and Bubbled and Boiled and BUBBLED and BOILED and BUBBLED AND BOILED. The birds where chirping for morning when I was finished. Dinner was hard. I scooped out the thick paste of dissolved vegetation and stringy meat. Too thick. I took my bottle of juiced apples and tore out the colony growing in it. It was souring and I would teach it an important lesson with my teeth. Pouring the soured juice in and scraping it together till the paste was perfectly thinner. I tore off a chunk of my bread and heaped dinner on. Dinner would keep for the week. Then it would go bad. I would teach it an important lesson with my fire. That was enough dinner. I had more to do, but it was hard to stay awake. So much was hard. If only it were simpler. I will make it simpler. I just need to get past the hard part. I return to my book, it was simple to write, hard to work. I would simply work hard to simplify hard work. Work simply and hardly work. It was hard and harder to be awake. Tomorrow it would be simpler.

Fun Fact: If you drop a doll in a lake, not only will it sink, it won't even try to save itself. This is partly because dolls do not understand the concept of drowning, and actually enjoy the experience, but mostly because the only context dolls have for swimming is their witch. And witches, as everyone knows, float. And even though dolls are often made of wood, they are still very dense. Also there's sometimes a duck involved. It depends.
