Queen of Tears (2024) | Song Joong-ki as Vincenzo Cassano
There are many rumors about who he is. The youngest heir of a conglomerate family. A former soldier stationed abroad. Someone who came here on a spaceship. Others say he's a werewolf. His name is Vincenzo. And he is… from the mafia. He's a Consigliere.

Mr Han: We should maybe stop killing all our enemies! When they go low, we should go high!
Han Seo trying to impress Han Seok once again: Exactly! Aim for the neck.
Han Seok: Dongsaeng, isn't that a bit unrealistic for you? Can you even reach your enemies necks with your height?

Confessions & relationships
Tumblr media
Requested by anonymous: Hello! Can I please request boyfriend headcanons for Vincenzo, Jang Han Seok and Jang Han Seo and how they'll confess to their crush?
Pairings: Vincenzo boys x reader
Warnings: Jang Han-Seok, emotional abuse, toxic relationship
Vincenzo Cassano:
Tumblr media
I don't think he would hide his crush to begin with
Asking you out:
so there are two options to his approach
one, you know
thus, not much to confess and it is very simple
he asks you out randomly, no real timing there
and does not wait for an answer, he just leaves and assumes it is a yes
second option, you're oblivious
he probably asked you out before and have you dismiss it as a friendly hang-out
thus he goes farther
probably some kind of big approach, maybe a party or at least a fancy dinner
asking you out would remain private though
As your boyfriend:
he's a sweet boyfriend and very romantic
don't be surprised at when you get a romantic outing or dinner every few weeks
he will spoil you
buys you whatever you look at for more than a second
he isn't home much when working, but makes sure to eat once a day with you
whether that be morning, afternoon or evening
if he can't, he will make it up whatever way he can
even if you don't mind it
you know about his actual job
but he makes sure to not ever come home hurt or bloodied up
because he knows it will worry you
if he does come home injured, he'll tell immediately
will patiently sit as you treat him
when sleeping, he'll always have you wrapped in his arms
is not opposed to be being the little spoon though if you want
just needs to feel your skin against his
if not, he can't sleep
overall a very good boyfriend
Jang Han-Seok:
Tumblr media
Asking you out:
he's always very sweet to you
at your beck and call 24/7, like a small puppy at his owner
so very cute, always smiling
buys you your favorite drinks and snacks, leaving them for you to find
sometimes there is a cute gift along with those snacks
flowers are also not abnormal for you to find, small bouquets with varying flowers or just a single flower on your desk
so his confession will be something along those lines
it would be a public confession, but not too grand
he doesn't want to overwhelm you or force you to say yes
a bouquet in his hands and a bear that held a heart
will get on his knees if he deems necessary, but you're quick to pull him up if he even dares to try
everyone kind of freezes and waits for your answer
but it's a yes nonetheless
he explodes into giggles and hugs you
is happy for the rest of the week
As a boyfriend:
now, here's the thing
he starts as the sweetest boyfriend
but all of that changes after being together for about a month
it starts with little things
he's a bit more calm than before, more mature in a way
you don't mind that too much
it doesn't really change your dynamic
what you do mind is his possessiveness
it was mild in the start, pointed at people that made advances on you
which is logical, everyone is a bit like that
then it starts to branch out
colleagues first, then your friends and even family at one point
it started with snarky comments pointed to them
he didn't really care if they heard or not
and then he started shielding you
guilting you into staying with him
whenever you bring it up, he denies it and says he knows what is best for you
it comes to the point that you barely go outside
whenever you start to doubt your relationship and are thinking of breaking it off, he would love bomb you
big gifts and a lot of affection to make sure that you wouldn't leave
is not above locking you up at home
once again says that he is protecting you
you know better, but you don't leave
because you've seen what he can do
and you know he won't be afraid to hurt you
not a good boyfriend, don't think I need to explain further on that
Jang Han-Seo:
Tumblr media
Asking you out:
now the normal one
well, if you ignore the trauma's he clearly has
his affection is no secret
he gets all mushy around you, so even you know
one problem
he doesn't notice that you reciprocate those feelings
which is a miracle because it is so obvious
you don't hold back on the flirting, because you know he likes you
but he never responds to it
when he gives you gifts, you once literally told him that you'd rather have him take you out for dinner
the man just giggles to himself while turning red, then just walks off while saying 'good joke'
walking is being nice, it's more of a skipping
when he does invite you to dinner, you ask if it is a date
he responds that it is just a friendly hangout since you're his only friend
but then he does ask you out
kind of...
he's practicing his speech to you while you just stand in the doorway
because he left the office door open
and when he finishes his speech, clearly proud of himself, you answer him
with a yes of course!
he jumps up like a snow leopard when it's cub scares them
like this:
Tumblr media
then he starts stuttering, trying to explain what happened
you basically shut him up by kissing him
he will shortcut
it will take at least 5 minutes for him to reboot
when he does, he is just bewildered
remains very giggly and cute
a bit like what he is like with Vincenzo, but a bit more
As a boyfriend:
is literally the sweetest
will send you texts throughout the whole day
a lot of selfies from various things through the day
has no clue what his gym selfies do to you
will always pick you up after work and bring you home
more often his then yours though
will constantly buy little trinkets that you remind him of you
you tend to do the same after awhile
some gifts get a bit weird, but it's a funny thing between you two
everyone know you're dating
because he will not shut up about you
ever
people are begging you to make him stop
it's impossible
because he wears his heart on his sleeve
he is a bit insecure sometime though
afraid that you'll leave him for someone better
because he still believes he's not worth
thanks to someone
it's very clear when he feels like that
he'll begin with pouting if it is due to someone specifically
if not that than he'll just be sad
staring into space without any sign of being alive
it's quite terrifying actually
best case it is only a few minutes
wort case he's gone for days
usually you just stay by his side and reassure him
never forcing him out of the mindset
he does go to therapy to your request
and with each day, he gets better
more confident about himself and your relationship
overall, I think he's the most realistic boyfriend of the three

10 Fandoms, 10 Characters
Thank you for the tag @morby
No rules attached to this one so I guess, just go for my faves (Without duplicating a fandom)... I feel like this is going to highlight at least one of my "types" but I guess I've outed myself on that front before rofl.
Tagging forward, with no pressure, to; @faelanvance, @cwritesfiction, @theunboundwriter, @arigalefantasynovels, @acertainmoshke, @avrablake, @ashen-crest, @sleepyowlwrites, @tisiphonewolfe, and anyone else who wants to play! <3
So, without further ado, my Favorite Characters in some of my favourite fandoms, in NO SPECIFIC ORDER...
One
Fandom; Doctor Who. Character; Doctor Who, Tenth Incarnation
David Tennant's run as The Doctor was my favourite. It was a magical combination of a phenomenal actor, a brilliant "companion", and A+ writing team, but it made me fall in love with the character as a whole. Smart, Intellligent, Alien, but also Vulnerable, and ineffably Human.
Tumblr media
Two
Fandom; Marvel Cinematic Universe. Character; Tony Stark
And I do mean "Tony Stark", not "Iron Man". Don't get me wrong, Iron Man is cool, and is definitely my favourite Avenger, but it's because it's Tony Stark inside the suit. It's the intelligence of the character that, again, captivates me and as a writer I see so much potential there. If I wasn't so busy with my own writing projects I'd be very tempted to jump back into fandom again just to have a play with Tony Stark's possibilities.
Tumblr media
Three
Fandom; Sherlock Holmes. Character; Sherlock
This one had to make the list considering my pen name! I've loved many of the Holmes adaptions, and but there's something specifically about Benedict Cumberbatch's Holmes where you can just see that brilliant mind ticking away behind his eyes.
Tumblr media
Four
Fandom; The Mentalist Character; Patrick Jane
I thought the whole Mentalist story was phenomenal, and the backstory for the character of Patrick Jane, genuis. I also love how much Jane is aware that usually he's the smartest person in the room, but is also painfully aware when he's not.
Tumblr media
Five
Fandom; Vincenzo Character; Vincenzo Cassano aka Park Joo-hyung
This is a newer addition to my list, and I've only seen the series once so my memory may be a little shaky, but this was another highly intelligent character. A little vicious, a little violent, but at heart also a good person, and I fell a little in love with the character every episode.
Tumblr media
And now, let me pivot into my second "type"...
Six
Fandom; Lord of the Rings Character; Strider aka Aragorn son of Arathorn
The OG Fandom Fave, Lord of the Rings got me into fanfiction. I began my online writing career by writing a "10th Walker" fanfiction that never saw the light of day, because I've always found Arwen's character very frustrating. Then the films were released, and the rest is history. But give me Strider over the polished King Aragorn any day!
Tumblr media
Seven
Fandom; Shadow and Bone (Netflix) Character; General Aleksander Kirigan aka The Darkling aka Aleksander Morozova
This one is a little more specific because I haven't read the books, so I have ZERO idea how accurate the series is to the original material, but Ben Barnes, specifically, as the Darkling is all my favourite things mixed up into one character. Smart, Intelligent, Damaged, Rough around the edges, In dire need of saving from himself. He's got it all.
Tumblr media
Eight
Fandom; The 100 Character; Prince Roan of Azgeda
Another character that I feel had wasted potential! I think they could have done so much MORE with this character but, much like Shadow and Bone, I've not read the books! So it's possible Prince Roan had a bigger, better, for fulfilling part there than the TV Series.
Tumblr media
Nine
Fandom; The Witcher Character; Geralt of Rivia
Look. I've loved Geralt forever. I loved him in the CDProjecktRed games. I bought the books, and loved him there, and then Henry Cavill went and made the 100% hands down perfect Geralt on screen. What more can I say?
Tumblr media
Ten
Fandom; The Vampire Diaries/The Originals Character; Klaus Mikaelson
Is there a better example of a morally grey character? Not one I've found, to be honest. Klaus has a freaking tragic backstory, and it's completely twisted his worldview. Does he need a good smack upside he head to teach him that his methods are fucked? Absolutely. Does that make me love him any less? Absolutely not!

Summary: Your secretary, Soobin, failed for the first time in his task that you assigned to him. It sparks your rage, and he is shocked to learn that you knew his past history and relation with the infamous Korean-Italian mafia, Vincenzo Cassano.
TEASER | TEASER 2 | CHAPTER 1 | CHAPTER 2 | CHAPTER 3 | CHAPTER 4 | CHAPTER 5
Pairing: Attorney! Reader X Undercover Police! Jay Cameo: Secretary! Soobin Genre: Thriller, mystery, slow-burn, Kdrama spin-off Triggered Warning!: None Word Count: 1196 Words Inspired by: Kdrama "Why Her?" and "Siren" by Taeyeon Song Recommendations: "Adrenaline" by Aalia (Vincenzo OST)
Tumblr media
You stared at the file that Soobin just handed to you a few moments ago before you let out a heavy sigh. You can’t deny the fact that Soobin, who is standing straight in front of your office desk, has always shown a great effort and excellent job when it comes to tracking and getting information of someone regardless of their social status and private life. However, you also can’t believe that for the first time in the history of 3 years since he has been working for you, he failed to complete the task that you gave him.
“I’m sorry, Serena 님. Please do punish me as your heart wishes. I have failed you this time after all.”
Soobin bowed to you as he admitted his failure to carry the task of searching the 2019 hit and run victim’s background.
“That’s bullshit Soobin. You have never failed a task and a mission from me or my father before. Are you sure you are still on our side? It’s been 10 years since you knew my family and you have worked for me for 3 years already. I wouldn’t be surprised if you turned out to be a backstabber. You better come clean right here and right now before I found something else that you might hide from me,”
You can't understand why it is so hard to obtain the information of the victim since her social status is not that impressive. This is because you have a vivid memory about what she wore on that night of the accident, which is a convenience store uniform. Based on your theory, considering the fact that she was 16 years old, you assumed that she was most likely a part-time worker of the convenience store where came from before the accident happened, according to your knowledge.
Soobin remains calm and stands very still as ever, but his sharp eyes can't hide the hurt that penetrates deep inside of him to the core. You noticed that very well, but you won’t take any risk of him being a betrayer to you and your family. There is nothing that you can do but to accuse and threaten him just a few seconds ago. And as if it’s not enough, you even questioned his status of loyalty towards you and your father.
“I know my place and understand your point of view regarding this matter, and you are disappointed that I failed to perform well in that task. Therefore, I am prepared to take your blame and did not hesitate to receive any punishment from you. However, when you are doubtful of my unconditional loyalty and undying support towards you, Chairman Yang, and the Young Group, I must say that I am deeply hurt and upset by your accusations and careless remarks.”
As if water is being splashed in your face, the realization of you going overboard with your accusations instantly came afterwards. It makes you look away from his eyes and cup your face out of embarrassment, and you are ashamed of yourself for being irrational and making an immature way of thinking just now.
“I’m sorry, Soobin, I- I don’t know what’s going on inside my mind, and I don't feel like myself at all ever since the news of the case reopening broke out.”
Your eyes almost teared up again, just like the moment when you saw the news had been covered everywhere and anywhere in the whole South Korea. With a stoic expression, you mustered up a little bit of courage to look at his eyes after what just happened.
“Also, I know I have said this before, but if there’s anyone that can downgrade you, that person can only be me. Not even my father can do that to you. Don’t you dare forget that even without the Choi’s connection with the Yang family, you too have so much power just like us, Consigliere Soobin.”
You smirk, seeing that his pupils dilated. Of course, it is surprising to Soobin that you knew about him being a consigliere of a Korean-Italian family, the Cassano especially their sole heir, Vincenzo Cassano who used to be his former boss, before he works for you and your family at the moment. You were trying to think of ways that can make your father, Chairman Yang, change his mind about assigning Soobin to work under you.
However, you found a shocking discovery about that fact of him. Thus, you stopped bothering your father about Soobin’s recruitment and agreed to take him as your secretary and right-hand man. That’s also why the Choi was desperate for the help from your family in order to conceals Soobin’s relation with the well-known mafia family considering the fact that your family has such influence and power over laws in the South Korea especially in the city of Seoul and Jeolla Province with 2 of its cities, Gwangju and Mokpo.
That’s why the Choi family and the Yang family go way back, be it in the matter of good days or bad days. Even so, the Choi did not state about that part of Soobin to any of your family members, including your father. That means only you know the secret that Soobin has been keeping all this time, and he had no idea that you knew about that until now.
“I do not just agree to have someone working for me for no reason, I must know every single damn thing about them first thing first. If you are that ordinary, you wouldn’t be here or survive from the first day you started working for me.”
Soobin nods his head, and you sense that he is acting a bit stiff and tense after you mentioned that you knew his secret. He is looking everywhere but you and let out an awkward cough to probably cover up the nerve-wrecking atmosphere to him at the very least.
“So my punishment is my secret being exposed to Chairman Yang isn’t it?”
He asked, finally looking at your face. You chuckled and twirled your office chair that you are seated on currently.
“No, why would I do that when it’s fun to mess around with you sometimes? I assure you that no one of my family members will ever know about this, I’ll give you my promise on that one. As for your punishment.. I will delay it first and let you know about that when I have decided what to do with you.”
You said as you picked up your YSL handbag. Soobin immediately fixes his blazer as part of his habit every time he sees you getting up from your office seat.
“Are you going somewhere? You don’t have any appointment for today, though.”
Your expression is unreadable to Soobin, and he feels uneasy knowing how you can act really impulsive and unpredictable sometimes.
“I’m meeting someone. I might have dinner as well. You don’t have to follow me because I will drive myself. Just make sure to try anything to get the victim’s background information. You must succeed no matter what. Use everything and anything that you have. Including your connection with Cassano.”

Notes: Starting from chapter 3 onwards, it would be a background story for each character starting from Soobin. Each story contains a hidden hint or a clue to the incident. Try to find the clues from each background.

A little pic at Frisk's side of the story now! If you're confused about Asgore, well, Asgore is a ghost too. Frisk had to absorb his soul to get out of the Mountain, so he's following them with Chara now.
“My name is Frisk, and I need your help.”
“Alright, Frisk. How can I help you?”
“I… I came from Mont Ebott. A few days ago, I fell into the Mountain. I found out that some… some people are stuck inside. They were kind with me, and helped me to get out, and I promised to help them get free in return.”
The second officer took out a notebook and started scribble what the kid was saying. The face of Inspector Cassano got more worried.
“We are going to help them, don’t worry. Are they tourists? Can you tell me how many of them they were?”
“They are numerous, at least two hundreds. Even more.” they corrected themself after a sign from Asgore.
“Two hundred?” the inspector wondered. “Are you sure you did count correctly? Where are they in the Mountain?”
“They are in all the Mountain, they're living in cities. B-But if we’re passing by where I got out, we will find somewhere to warn the others. There is Undyne, the Captain of the Royal Guard, and maybe Sans too. They will know what to do next.”
The brushy eyebrows of the man furrowed so much they almost recovered his eyes. Frisk quickly understood he didn’t believe them.
“Alright”, said Cassano with an uncertain voice. “Can you describe me that… Sans?”
The kid thought for a while. Should they really describe what he looked like? They silently asked help to Chara and Asgore. The ghost child was biting their nails with anxiety. Asgore just nodded, like to tell him to keep talking. At least, thats how Frisk interpreted that.
“Sans is small, but a little bigger than me. He wears a blue jacket, sport shorts and pink slippers all the time. Fluffy, the… the slippers, I mean. He’s nice and he is always making bad jokes. He kinda protected me while I was traveling underground, because the others didn’t like humans very much before I fell. But now they do, I… I think.”
“They didn’t like humans?” the inspector repeated, confused. “What do you mean by that?”
“They… They are not humans.” confessed Frisk with a very low voice. “They are called monsterkind and they are stuck in the Mountain because of a magic Barrier. We have to help them, they really need help.”
The inspector clicked his tong, stunned by their revelation. But that was not the tong clicking of someone who just discovered a new civilization under the Mountain, but more the one of someone who just wasted their time. He got up and stared severely at Frisk. The kid face decomposed when they understood the officer lost interest in what they were saying. He didn’t believe them. The inspector turned towards his colleague, they shared a look, then Cassano nodded.
“Listen, Frisk. I think you are going through a shock after what you lived in the Mountain. Maybe you hit your head or something…”
“No!” yelled Frisk. “Please believe me! They are waiting for me, I can’t give up on them! You have to help them! Please believe me!”
“It’s enough!” he cut them off. “We don’t have only you to take care of today, kid, and your story is ridiculous. You are going to come with us to the station and we’re gonna find your parents.”
“I… I don’t have parents.” they confessed, while they look away.
The inspector softened and put a hand on his shoulder.
“Don’t worry. I know a place where someone is gonna take care of you. But you still have to come with us. Forget that Mountain’s story, nobody never go there anyway, and that’s not gonna change any soon.”
He took their hand. Frisk freed themself with a knock of their shoulder. If he wasn’t believing them, well too bad, they were definitely getting back to the Mountain by themselves. They had just to go back and helped the others to find a solution. The child slipped between the legs of the inspector and rushed to the door. The fresh air filled their soul with determination and they ran towards the south, straight to the Mountain. Steps didn’t take long to be heard behind them, closer and closer. But Frisk succeeded to escape Undyne, that was not some old officers who would get them !
They almost reached the end of the street when a passerby, seeing the police officers running after the child, reflexively catch them by the sweater. Unbalanced, the child rocked forward, which allowed the officers to covered the gap between them. Inspector Cassano took their arms vigorously. Frisk struggled violently, yelling their anger and knocking everything that touched them with their feet or biting where the skin of the officer was visible.
Unfortunately, they were too weak to deal with two well-trained officers. A few seconds later, the policemen threw them in the back of a police car. They shouted, hit the windows, yelled after Toriel and Sans…
But nobody came.

interaction call ( accepting ) — @cordoliae
What a thrilling little thing this is. Well, it wasn't little, per se. He could name at least a dozen of roided blockheads that'd have his head on a platter for even being here. Still, it's so nice to be back in the scene with the preferred Cassano heir. There's only so much nonsense he can take from the man-child that chased Vincenzo out of their golden nest.
"Ah— we meet again." The entirety of Lior's face lights up in an instant when he sees the other man. "Shame it's been so long since last. How have you been— or is there no room for pleasantries?"

_____________________________________
Trigger warning: parental death, assassination, blood, death.
I.
You think you remember, but you don’t.
Your life in Tokyo is a distant memory; it’s cloudy and vague, and yet you still tell your sister stories about your parents as if they’ve been written in your diary – they’re not lies, but not all of them are fully truthful, too.
You know your mom was an artist – there’s a painting of you two saved, brought with you to New York – and you know your father could make the best monjayaki; you’ve stopped searching for the savour you last tasted more than twenty years ago. And that’s what you tell her about; you tell her about trips to the sea, late night tales, and breakfast in the sun. How you’d get scolded for not finishing homework in time, how you’ve been waiting for your mom to get back from the hospital and bring your little sister home.
It’s all joyful, until it isn’t – this one night will haunt you until you hear the call of your grave. You don’t see it, but you hear it; and thus you stay in your room, holding Emiko, until help arrives. The days following it become a blur – you come back to yourself when your feet touch the American land. They told you it’d be safer if you lived there.
II.
You’ll find out later that your father was a foster child of a Yakuza boss, who tried his best to distance himself from the clan and lead a normal life – of course, it could never happen. It was not for him to decide. It’s a miracle you two stayed alive, but you never think this way – there’s too much pain, too much guilt.
You grow up with your sister and your relatives, your aunt and uncle who recently moved to the States themselves. For two people, who could never have their own children, it was both a diabolical blessing and a divine curse: it was always pleasant to hear children laugh in their cramped house, but counting every penny was never easy.
Life seemed good for you, though. Good enough, at least. You never understood why it suddenly got better too. One more thing you’ll find out later – the name of Hanging Man and one of its higher-ups, who stepped in to help.
III.
Some nights are worse than others, forcing you to wake up drenched in cold sweat – here he was, stuck in their apartment in Tokyo, alone with his sister, waiting for their parents to come, having a horrible internal feeling that something is wrong. Again and again.
Maybe that’s why you’d savour any attention you’d get.
Maybe that’s why you’d get to sit in a police car more than a few times as blood was spilling out of your nose. Hot-headed and reckless, you couldn’t even count how many times you've gotten into fights.
You weren’t stupid, though. Witty, sharp and always happy to finish your homework – you were kind of a mystery for everyone, including the best of your friends. But every move of yours is calculated. You know what you want, and for that you need both the brain and the fist – you’d never mention it, though. You’re aware your intention would seem immature at best, and deranged at worst.
You try to join the clan as soon as you finish high school, but you’re left disappointed – they see you as a kid. And you are, you are just a kid – even if you’re not happy about it.
IV.
When she offers you to move together – start a new life – you’ve already graduated and started your new life in New York. Life of power, loyalty, and found family. You promise your sister you’ll visit, you’ll visit often, you just can’t leave. You can’t.
You know it hurts her. It hurts you too – but you have plans, ideas, ambitions: either climb up the Hanging Man ladder, or work together with Akira and rule the city.
Soon, you’ll have to choose. You don’t know it yet, but it’ll have severe consequences in the future.
You should’ve gone with Emiko.
V.
You’re destined to lose everyone in your life.
You meet her when you’re much younger – too young to understand the risks of your relationship. It just burns, it’s a fire that devours you both just like you devour each other. For the first time, you’re happy – you think you’re losing your mind when you start thinking about dropping your job for her. You could do something else, you could. It’s not too late.
You don’t get a chance to make that step – you’re ambushed, and the blood that dries on your hands is the only reminder of her for the next eight years.
You can’t remember the funeral – and once again, it’s a cloudy blur, one that will take a clearer shape only in nightmares. You'll look for her too, with a delusional hope that she is, in fact, alive – only to be left with no clues at all.
VI.
You’re destined to lose or are you destined to get it all back?

First of, I would like to tell my dear friend @mattmurrock that I personally blame them for my descend into madness, because I was fine without watching Vincenzo, and my deteriorating mental health is their fault ❤️
Now, I need to get some things off my chest about this show, because I am getting tired of seeing these weird as fuck takes on tumblr and tiktok and twt, like, are y'all asleep???
Idc if the entire fandom comes after me, I will fight each and every single one of you.
Hot take number 1: Han Seo's writing was atrocious in general, but him becoming this lighthearted little brother figure to Vincenzo in the second part, practically glowing, becoming a "better person" and all that, is a disservice at its finest. Han Seo's "real self" isn't him projecting his inner child trauma onto Vincenzo; this man had a person throw up blood on him and he wanted to call an ambulance for himself, like come on. He deserved to be morally grey, and I'm done with this fandom infantilizing him.
Hot take number 2: Cha Young and Vincenzo's love subplot was hilarious, there was not a drop of chemistry between them, Cha Young looked like she wouldn't spare Vincenzo a second glance during the entire show 😭 This is a personal subjective opinion, so I'm fine with people disagreeing with me on this one.
Hot take number 3: Jang Han Seok was smarter, stronger, and a better strategist than Vincenzo Cassano, on every level. He was more connected, more brutal, made moves more similar to the Mafia than Vincenzo himself did, and the only reason he lost, consistently, is because the plot was centered on Vincenzo, and gave him the wins. If this show was evenly written, Han Seok would have won within the first five episodes. Him begging Vincenzo to let him live was also our of character for the guy who stared Vincenzo dead in the eye and told him to shoot. Running away while he had a hockey stick at hand, Cha Young injured, bodyguards at the door and Vincenzo unarmed is also out of character.
Hot take number 4: Vincenzo Cassano, who might I add, doesn't have a drop of Italian upbringing in him, is a romantic lead, and he should get the credit for that only. Vincenzo, as a show, is a dark romcom, and I use the term dark loosely. I have seen many act like he is the end all be all kdrama lead, as though his character is a perfectly written depiction of the anti-hero, scumbag who takes care of worse scumbags, morally ambiguous, flawed-but-not-really main character. And that's laughable. He has walked straight out of Wattpad.
Conclusion to my thoughts and ranting: Han Seo deserved his own storyline, and to not be treated as a prop for Vincenzo. Cha Young was a better lead than Vincenzo by miles, and she shouldn't have been taken out of commission in the showdown. Han Seok was able to win in the finale. If they wanted me to believe he lost, they should have written it better. Vincenzo as a show has a 7/10 rating at its highest, while Vincenzo as a character is 5/10 at best, 6/10 if you take my bias against him away. Enjoying such shows is fine, I had a blast watching this thing, but I am tired of people pretending this show has quality. It has good points, like cinematography and cast, but its writing, characters, and plot is weak.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk, yes I will take comments and criticism, and if people want to debate me, I will show them they are ✨️wrong✨️

accompanying fic to this fanart in the Early Adoption AU by the amazing @nalivaa who wondered what would happen if rival mafiosi exploited the weakness Vin's cute little brother posed and kidnapped him,,,,
The mafia business is a lawless one but there are some rules, unspoken or not, that you just have to adhere to.
Such as, Never rat out your friends.
Or, Don’t start a fight you cannot win.
And perhaps the most important one in Milanese circles: You are not to touch a hair on the head of Vincenzo Cassano's little brother.
Like with most rules, they get established after the transgression has already been committed, even if just once. And the poor sons of bitches who tried are example enough to deter any madmen from even trying to copy them, even though, or rather because all but one of them did not live to tell the tale.
Having such a reputation is a relief to Vincenzo, though he has regrets about the way it was built up. Not because of what he had to do to get there – he doesn’t give two fucks about the poor suckers who became victims of his wrath – but because of what Han-seo had been forced to endure.
Han-seo should’ve never gotten dragged into this. He should not even be a blip on the radar of any mafia members. Unfortunately, no matter how careful Vincenzo thought he was in keeping Han-seo's existence a secret from the mafia circles, trying to keep hidden someone who is such an essential part of your life is something of a herculean effort.
He still remembers, all too vividly, the numbing fear he'd felt back then, when Luca had approached him and told him that his brother was gone. Taken. Fear that had quickly transformed into white-hot rage: he would kill everyone who had dared lay a finger on Han-seo, and everyone who got in his way would burn to cinder.
Without waiting for Luca or any of the other guys Luca had been trying to rally as reinforcement, he'd taken his Father's precious Cadillac and sped to the location he'd been told.
Apparently they'd demanded ransom – an insane amount at that – as well as some land Don Fabio had appropriated but Vincenzo couldn’t care less about any demands, let alone about fulfilling them. All he would fulfill that night was the blood-thirsty need for revenge that raged inside him.
They had taken Han-seo.
They were going to pay.
When Vincenzo arrived at the scene, there were four armed men guarding the entrance to the warehouse that held Han-seo captive. As a rule, it is foolish to take on four armed men single-handedly. The four armed men seemed to think so too, which must have been why they did not even lift a brow (or move a trigger finger) when they saw Vincenzo approaching.
Underestimation, Vincenzo had long since understood, was man’s greatest downfall, right next to pride.
That was why, when Vincenzo raised his gun, aimed, and shot the nearest guy right between his eyes, it took them a second to even process what was happening.
A second too long.
A second enough for Vincenzo. Taking advantage of their delay in action, he shot off two more bullets. One hit Goon Number Two in the heart, the other one missed by a hair's breadth and got Goon Number Three at the shoulder instead. By then, Vincenzo was close enough that some of his blood splattered on his hands.
Number Three and Four had caught themselves enough to coordinate each other: taking off in different directions, they tried their luck by coming at Vincenzo from different angles at once. But Vincenzo didn't hesitate for a moment. He let out another shot to his left, didn’t even stop to check if he'd hit home before whipping around again, anticipating Number Four pouncing on him.
That was his second mistake.
"Guns are a long-distance weapon, stupido!" Vincenzo commented as he dodged Goon Number Four's attack, grabbed him by the wrist to kick the gun from his grip and spun him around to use as a shield just in time for when Goon Number Three recovered and fired off his own shot in their direction.
Vincenzo pushed a limp Goon Number Four on him and shot Goon Number Three in the aorta.
There was no time to lose.
"Where is he?"
With the weight of Goon Number Four squarely over his chest and bleeding out, Goon Number Three glared at him. "Testa di cazzo!"
Unimpressed, Vincenzo pushed his foot down on the hole in his leg and repeated his question, voice raised over the man's scream of pain. "Where. Is. He."
"Third door down the corridor to the left."
Expression impassive, Vincenzo nodded. "Keys. And I'll make it quick for you."
From his pocket, the man pulled out the keys to the warehouse and handed them to him
As promised, Vincenzo blew his brains right out.
Vincenzo took a moment to reload his gun. This time, he had every intention of going in with a plan. A more solid one, maybe find a way to see how everyone was positioned around the room before entering or such.
Until he heard Han-seo’s voice.
“Hyu–”
It went muffled at the end, like someone pressed a hand to his mouth to silence him.
Someone put a hand on him.
And silenced him.
And Vincenzo saw red.
What happened next is a blur to Vincenzo to this day. He knows that he bullied his way inside, somehow, that at one point he lost his gun – someone must’ve kicked it from his grip – so that he’d have nothing but his fists and whatever he could leverage from his surroundings. He doesn’t know exactly how he fought against all of Han-seo’s captors and came up on top, all he can say is that there were four more dead men, and three gravely injured, once he was done with them.
What he remembers, though, all too clearly, is standing in that room, gun still firm in his hand like an extension of himself, and looking for his brother in the midst of all that grime and death.
Han-seo was standing, staring, wide-eyed.
Some blood had splattered on his face and clothes when Vincenzo had shot the man who’d been holding Han-seo in the cruel attempt to use him as a shield. It had been, perhaps, the scariest moment for Vincenzo in this whole mess. In his entire life thus far, perhaps: the risk he had to take when he aimed with Han-seo so close to his target. But he’d hit home, hit the man in the shoulder, not enough to kill, but enough to make him stumble away from Han-seo. Then, he followed up with another bullet, to his thigh this time, just to keep him from running.
Han-seo had tumbled to the ground, hands and knees breaking his fall. Wincing, Vincenzo took a look at the stone floor. That must have hurt, he thought, and rage flared up once more at that. “Han-seo,” he rasped, taking a step towards him. “Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
There was a mirror, just behind Han-seo, a little to the left, and it caught Vincenzo’s eye the moment he moved. It was leaning against the wall, an old thing, with cracks at the upper left corner and dust sticking to the rest of it, distorting Vincenzo’s reflection into a grotesque form, like a specter. Blood was splattered all across his suit. Blood sullied the white of his collar. His own blood dripped sluggishly down a cut on his cheek, and blood stuck to his hands: the blood of the people he killed to get here.
He looked like–
He looked like a monster.
He couldn’t look Han-seo in the eyes, wouldn’t bear to see fear reflected in them: fear of his own brother.
“Hy- hyung?”
Han-seo’s voice sounded so thin, so shaky, and this made Vincenzo seek his gaze after all. His feet brought him the rest of the way to him, closing the distance. He dropped to his knees before his brother. Han-seo was still wearing the same jacket he’d been wearing when Vincenzo had dropped him off at school that morning. An ugly atrocity of brightly colored patterns reminiscent of eighties fashion that Han-seo had zoned in on at the mall and absolutely insisted on. He was the same boy from that morning, yet ages had passed behind his eyes.
Taking care not to touch Han-seo directly, he examined the handcuffs that chafed the skin around his wrists. Bastardos, he thought. To do that to a child! Don Fabio had clear rules about never involving women and children in their work, never harming the innocent and he demanded from his men to abide by this law religiously.
These men were worse than trash for putting Han-seo through this hell.
With practiced ease, Vincenzo unlocked the cuffs with a safety pin, careful not to let the metal scrape against Han-seo’s skin any more. They fell to the floor with a clang.
Throughout it all, he felt Han-seo's eyes on him, and the urge to hide his face, to shield Han-seo’s eyes from all this grew by the second. He dreaded to know what Han-seo was thinking now, how the picture of his big brother had, undoubtedly, changed irrevocably. He never wanted Han-seo to see this side of him.
Instead of meeting Han-seo's eyes, Vincenzo focused on his hands: the scratches on his wrist were an angry red, and Vincenzo reached out, then, by instinct, but he caught himself before his hands (the hands of a killer) could meet bare skin, and gripped Han-seo by the arm instead, as though the fabric of his jacket was barrier enough from his tainting touch. Instead, his bloody hands sullied that damn jacket, pink mixing with red, but despite the disgust at himself, Vincenzo needed to make sure he was real, solid. That he was fine.
“Hanseo-yah,” he whispered.
Han-seo stared at him.
His knees were bleeding, and Vincenzo was partly to blame for that. There was a cut on his right cheek, smaller than the one Vincenzo sported, yet enough to make his heart constrict at the sight.
Almost more incriminating, tears were welling in his eyes. When one spilled over, Vincenzo reached out a hand to his left cheek, by instinct, to wipe it away with his thumb. “Han-seo,” he whispered again. “I’m sorry.”
Horrified by the way his touch left a stain of red on Han-seo’s face, he wanted to draw back, but Han-seo was faster. Like a dam breaking, more tears spilled from his eyes and he launched himself at Vincenzo, scraped knees hitting the cold hard floor once more and it was all Vincenzo could do to catch him in his arms as Han-seo began to cry for real.
For a moment, Vincenzo was too stunned to do more.
Wasn’t he scared of him? Wasn’t he horrified?
“Hyung!” Han-seo got out between sobs. “They– they…”
They hurt him.
Any other thought flew out the window, as Vincenzo’s heart flared with the feeling that had risen in him since the first time he’d laid eyes on Han-seo, when Vincenzo had sworn to protect him, that small boy that got left behind just like Vincenzo himself had been left behind.
Vincenzo pulled Han-seo closer, tightened his hold on him, so tight it might almost hurt. “It’s okay.”
“I was so scared!”
“It’s okay, I’m here now.”
“They hurt me.”
“I know.” Vincenzo swallowed. He pushed down another wave of nauseating rage. “I’m sorry.”
“Hyung.”
“You’re alright,” Vincenzo promised  “I’m here now. You’re okay. I won’t let anything happen to you.” One of his hands rubbed back and forth soothingly across his back. “By my first father’s grave, I swear this. Anyone who tries, I’ll…”
He’ll pay them back tenfold, and his currency is pain. He’ll make them feel every second of blinding fear he’d felt for Han-seo since the moment he realized he was missing. Every second that Han-seo was scared, that he had to live in a world where he wasn’t safe, where Vincenzo had failed him.
Eyes drifting, he caught another glance at the mirror.
He looked awful.
Like a killer.
Like a monster.
Suddenly, he couldn’t bear to be near Han-seo. His innocent, carefree dongsaeng had been pulled into this world, his world, and he was the one to blame. He couldn’t stand to touch him with his filthy hands, hands full of blood.
But as he loosened his grip to draw back, Han-seo only clung to him more tightly.
“Hyung, please!” Han-seo wailed. “Please stay.”
Stunned, Vincenzo didn’t move. “I’m not going anywhere,” he assured. “I’ll keep you safe, from now on. I promise.”
While Vincenzo was wearing the blood of his enemies, the blood on Han-seo  was mostly his own. His knees. His cheek. His wrists were full of scratches from where he had likely pulled against his too tight restraints. He must’ve been so scared.
Vincenzo would kill them all again, would shoot another load of bullets in their bodies. Make it hurt this time, draw it out, for what they put Han-seo through. For every drop of blood they drew from him, he’d draw a hundred, for every tear that fell from his eyes, he’d tear off a limb.
He doesn’t know how long they stayed like this, how long until Luca arrived with the cavalry. But when their medic tried to rip them apart to treat their injuries, Han-seo wailed even louder than before.
"Han-seo," Vincenzo chided carefully, not letting go either. "You need to let them have a look at you."
"No, I'm fine, I just–" he sniffed, and Vincenzo's heart melted.
He didn’t spend more than a furtive second wondering what Father’s men will think of him now, seeing him fold so easily for this kid. That was less important. More important was to keep Han-seo close, to reassure himself that he was here, that he was fine. He hadn’t been able to breathe since he found out Han-seo had been captured, and now he finally could. He closed his eyes, took in the vague smell of candy and Han-seo’s strawberry shampoo and, most damningly, the iron smell of blood that now clung to his little brother. Instinctively, Vincenzo hugged him a little tighter.
“You’re alright.” He couldn’t in all sincerity tell anymore if the reassurance was for Han-seo’s or his own sake.
Now that he knew that Han-seo was largely unharmed, the thing he most abhorred about this day was the fear these men put Han-seo through. The fear that shook his world view, burst the bubble that his world was a safe one. The fear that stripped him of the belief that as long as his brother was around, things would go alright, that he’d never let any harm come his way.
Because he had been there, and harm had still found Han-seo.
In the worst way, Vincenzo had failed. If something worse had happened to Han-seo, he’d never have forgiven himself…
In the end it was Luca who managed to dislodge Han-seo’s iron hold on Vincenzo.
“Han-seo,” he’d addressed the boy directly. “We really need to have a look at the both of you. Your hyung doesn’t look so good himself…”
Immediately, Han-seo drew back to look Vincenzo over. There was a determined look in his watery eyes fighting to overthrow the state of distress he was obviously still in, his cheeks marked with tear tracks. Vincenzo reached out to wipe them away but the sight of blood on his hands made him waver.
He wanted to drop his hand to his side, but Han-seo was faster.
"Hyung, your hands!" His brother caught them between his smaller ones, the same delicate fingers that had pieced together a toy car at the breakfast table this morning brushing over Vincenzo’s bruised knuckles, where skin had ripped open when he’d punched his way through Han-seo’s captors. More blood transferred from Vincenzo onto Han-seo’s skin, and his stomach lurched at the sight, urge to pull back growing exponentially but Han-seo was insistent. “You need a band-aid!”
And in front of the eyes of his Father’s most trusted men, their medic and the corpses of their enemies, Han-seo reached into his pants’ pocket, pulled out a strip of dinosaur-themed bandaid and, very gently, stuck it right across Vincenzo’s knuckles.
Wide-eyed, Vincenzo stared at him. A small smile brightened Han-seo’s miserable face as he examined his handiwork and Vincenzo remembered what he had said to Han-seo, on that fateful day when Han-seo was hand-delivered to his doorstep by an uncaring former brother.
Let's just take care of one another from now on.
Han-seo never failed to save Vincenzo right back, it seemed.
*
He let the man go, the one who had used Han-seo as a shield. Someone needs to live to tell the tale. The tale of what happened when you dared to mess with Vincenzo Cassano's little brother.
The saying doesn’t specify for how long that person should be allowed to live, however. But Vincenzo was a patient man when he wanted to be. He liked to play with his food. That man was how Vincenzo earned the title of the gatto sazio, but that's another story yet to tell.
