Curse of Strahd's Influence on King of Dust
So, one of the biggest inspirations for King of Dust came from a campaign of Curse of Strahd that I was part of—it was wild. Imagine the gothic, dark, cursed world of Barovia, but what if Darius, my protagonist in the book, was an absolute bisexual disaster with only two functioning brain cells? He’s terrible at his job, but somehow, still, he’s willing to risk everything for love. That’s the energy I wanted to bring to this book—a character who means well, messes up often, and loves too hard for his own good.
I also started thinking: what if Curse of Strahd was more diverse? Sure, we’ve got vampires and gloomy atmospheres, but what if we added an LGBT romance subplot? A complex love story that doesn’t fit neatly into your standard vampire fantasy? What if it was a little more lighthearted? Enter Darius’s complicated feelings for Astrid after his 20-year relationship with Yra falls apart. Love, heartbreak, and the chaos of new attraction are all a huge part of the plot.
And then there’s the Murder House from Curse of Strahd. That setting planted the seeds for one of the key plots in King of Dust: a dark, cult-like group with roots in familiar gothic horror, but the story takes a hard left turn, flipping everything on its head. It’s my way of giving a nod to a classic Dungeons & Dragons storyline while crafting something completely new and unexpected.
In the end, King of Dust pulls from the atmosphere and structure of Curse of Strahd but adds more depth with diverse characters, LGBT themes, and a storyline that’s full of unexpected twists.
If this sounds like the book for you, you can preorder King of Dust before it comes out on Halloween! Link is in my pinned post.

People, I'm sorry to give you bad news: I'm publishing a novel. It's Isekai/LitRPG and its got lots of jokes, monsters and nonsense. I'm going to start pushing it here on this account, since my kids are too old to be impressed by art on lunch bags or me in general. Any objections?

Do you like found family?
Do you like horror and trauma wrapped in humor and ridiculous situations and dumb jokes?
Do you like cats? Do you like dinosaurs? Do you like cats riding dinosaurs?
Do you like amazing and well written female characters?
Do you like the concept of a fucked up, sarcastic AI with a foot fetish that goes more insane with each passing day?
Do you like the idea of a badass protagonist with oodles of trauma that is willing to kill for his family and yet cares deeply about humanity, all while not wearing any pants?
Then what you need is Dungeon Crawler Carl!
I will gift a copy of the first audiobook to the first 3 people to message me their emails.
Yes I am 100% serious. Yes the audiobook, because the narrator is so god damn talented that he adds an INCREDIBLE amount of depth to the characters and I legitimately cannot recommend consuming it any other way. Yes I am willing to spend this money if it gets even one more tumblrina into this fandom

Let's Read Systemless
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's Reborn on a Systemless Earth... With a System!
It's my 1100+ page trilogy that's just about to finish. Read it all for free, and preorder Volume 1 before it releases on Kindle Unlimited on June 18th!
This comedy fantasy reverse isekai story features the following:
Cultural differences leading to many shenanigans.
Card game-based RPG superpowers.
Perpetually annoyed lesbian wives.
Underground wrestling arenas with Pretty Cure expys.
Multiversal temporal desychronization causing cosmic chaos.
Bizarre numbers of references to CATS (dir. Hooper, 2019).
Anarcho-monarchist surf pirates.
Using Minecraft to cheat at real life.
Ridiculously convoluted hidden origin stories.
Beavers.
A very slow-burning BL subplot that eventually ends with heartwarming triumph.
President Joe Biden with a plan to use RPG powers to solve climate change.
Plot twists so massive you'll be dropping your damn jaw to the floor.
Hot guys with pink hair.
I've been posting the story for over 3 years, and I think you'll really enjoy the insanity to come. It started as a parody of isekai stories by sending an idiot fantasy guy to modern-day America, but it became so, so much more over its 250-chapter run.
The story will post its final chapter in June, and then it'll be published on Kindle Unlimited.
Read it for free now, and also preorder Volume 1 so I can become rich and successful and self-finance the rest of that one Squiddles fan adventure!

Since I’m in a posting mood this night at 1:11 am, I might as well make the most of it and spill as much of my thoughts as possible out into the void that is tumblr
Anyway, before The Darkness Outside Us I read every currently published book in the Reclaimer series by Waldo Rodriguez
Here’s the cover of the first book
Tumblr media
Now that I’ve caught the attention of anyone mindlessly scrolling, I’ll explain what it is and why I’m interested in it despite it not being gay (a tragedy I know). The book is a Sci-Fi “Progression” book which basically means it borrows a lot from the LitRPG genre without actually being an RPG. The book borrows concepts from a lot of popular Sci-fi, mostly Warhammer, and sprinkles in some magic, at least for the first 4 books.
Here’s the complication, there’s currently 6 books and there will probably be 6 more, and each of them are over 200k words, which means there’s currently over 1.2 millions words with just as many on the way. If this doesn’t faze you, you’re quite brave, just the sort of person we want to brave The Crucible. And you’ll have a lot to look forward to since after the first 4 books the genre switches from Sci-fi Fantasy to Fantasy Sci-fi, I’ll let you find out what I mean by that, or you can look at the reblogs I’ve made of this where I go into it more since this is getting quite long winded.

hello its me again!
do you have a passion for isekai? Do you have a powerful love hate relationship with isekai? Do you wish you had taken the chicken out of the freezer when your mom told you to an hour ago? THEN DO I HAVE A BOOK FOR YOU (except that last one, you're on your own)"
Tumblr media
"For five years, Aderyn has waited to get the Call—the event when the system controlling her world grants her a class and appropriate skills to become an adventurer. When the system makes her a Warmaster, Aderyn eagerly sets out on her first journey. The problem? Her class is useless. No one believes a Warmaster is anything but a joke. They aren’t strong fighters, they have no magic, and they don’t have powerful skills. But Aderyn hasn’t waited all these years to give up now. With the help of a young man from another world, she’s going to prove this Warmaster can do anything."
Whats cool about this book is that its told from the perspective of someone already IN the fantastical world the regular joe gets isekai'd into. It's set in an RPG world where everyone has classes and ranks and theres even a chosen one! theres a different dungeon the party goes through in every book and they are legit the best part of the story.
the audiobook just got released on spotify and i snagged myself some free codes so first 20 commenters get a free audiobook to listen on Spotify! (you have to already have a spotify account)
its also on amazon

Day 1 of Trying to Convince You to Preorder King of Dust
Hey friends! I’m so excited to finally share the passion project that’s been living in my head for years: King of Dust. This book has everything I love—magic, complex characters, dark twists, and a world that feels alive in every sense. It’s a story about finding yourself in the middle of chaos, when the dust settles (literally and metaphorically).
King of Dust explores identity, heartbreak, and redemption, with characters like Darius, Yra, and Astrid pulling you through a world filled with monsters and shadows. Writing this book has been a journey of its own, and I can’t wait for you to meet these characters and fall into their story.
Preorders are open now, and every one of them means the world to me. Help me bring King of Dust to life!
The link to preorder the book is in my pinned post. Happy reading!

Rough cover treatment for my crazy novel. This seemed like a good idea. Now it seems like a butt plug. Back to the drawing board.
"Aether Novak" was a suggestion for an author name. So was Electron Raven and Darklord Pixelblade. Still working on it

It's sad that as a culture we pour all the time and attention into video games and video as our premier art form, instead of into comics and graphic novels.

Lyonette du Marquin dreamed of gold. She slept on it; she woke up and tossed a gold piece out from under her nightdress. She breathed it; she was pretty sure that would lead to lung problems, so they had begun putting cloth masks on when cutting it up.
Gold was such a pleasant dream. On the fifteenth day since The Wandering Inn had begun mass-producing gold, Lyonette woke up knowing three things would happen today:
One. Bird was due to come back today.
Two. The villagers of Rheirgest would finally get here, escorted by the Order of Solstice.
Three. Erin Solstice had more secrets. More to terrify the world with.

I got my Reddit promo posts going for Systemless and noticed, uh, LOTS of downvotes on these posts, which is not normal for the subreddits I posted to.
And some guy helpfully explained the reason why:
Not your fault you would probably get the same ratio had the book been pro nazi. People are tired of rainbow culture worming it's way into everything. Just saying not trying to be hateful.
When I called him rude for it...
Why is a statement of fact considered rude? Look to bud light target and disney all losing millions for pushing the rainbow ideology people are tired of it seeping into every corner of society trying to turn and corrupt kids. And was the pastel bright pink colors on the cover necessary is the book targeted at adults or kids?
GEE ISN'T IT FUN TO BE ACCUSED OF BEING A GROOMER WHEN I'M TRYING TO PROMOTE MY NEW COMEDY BOOK.
What do I even do at this point? Accept that this book is going to be a culture war battleground and not the fun reverse-isekai comedy I desperately want it to be? What do I even do in response to all this negativity?
