Something about the song "Rain in my heart" by Frank Sinatra swirls my soul into watercolor and lets it spiral and twist as it's washed out of paintbrush into fresh water

The big brother looked up from where he was tucking the blanket under Branch’s feet. “Sure thing,” he said with a light smile.  “What would you like to hear? A lullaby?”

“I don’t know,” Branch mumbled as he nestled his head into the pillow. “You choose.”

Floyd could still see a crease of worry between his baby brother’s brows. He softly brushed a thumb over it in a silent reassurance that everything was going to be okay before he turned around to reach for their dad’s old guitar.

I think Floyd would often sing to Branch to get him to fall asleep, usually the songs and lullabies their parents sang when the older four were still little.

I know in the movie it seemed like they all left right after their fight, but I like to imagine that they just stormed off to cool off and that they actually left in the following days. And that this was the last song Floyd sang for Branch that night. :')

B R O I am going to tell you a secret now: MIS is the FIRST ever ship I created a (sorta) playlist for. Literally, never before in my life, no matter how much I shipped stuff, I never could create a playlist (I'm just not good with that lol), but for some reason I just?? Stumbled on so many songs that are just so fitting for those two old men, I've been going insane-

So I made a little YouTube Playlist to share ;3

It's not very long and not all of them are a perfect fit, but a lot of them made me think of MIS and admittingly the reason why most of them were included into the playlist was because I could vividly imagine animatics with them! xD

And it would be remiss of me not to mention 2 other main reasons why I even started the playlist in the first place.

First of all, thanks to a tag that wonderful @missadmyre left on one of my MIS posts:

Which made me listen to Teeth by 5 Seconds of Summer and fall in love with the song! MissAdmyre is 100% right the MIS animatic for this song will go so hard!!

And thanks to several asks that asked me about Hide Away by Synapson. It was about a meme initially, but after I stopped cackling like a hyena I realized that aside of the memey joke, the song kinda slapped and did sorta fit MIS.

There are several other songs that are my favorites, like:

100 Ways by Jackson Wang (the lyrics are SO freaking fitting for Chase about First, and I wish I acould animate because a dance/fight routine for the chorus would be amazing!)

Loving you is a Loosing Game/Arcade by Duncan Laurence (just very melancholic and can work for both of them, but the line of 'small town boy in a big arcade, i got addicted to a loosing game' for First ist just making me uuuuughh)

Lose Control by Teddy Swims (just phew~ babes, I kinda dig First going insane because Chase makes him so lol, but it also can absolutely work in reverse about Chase going insane over First, just afsd;kaskdsf good song IMO)

Somewhere Only We Know by Keane (is a more chill post break-up song with a lot of pining but also acceptance that world changed, just can imagine them remembering each other after the centures of separation TToTT)

No Time to Die by Billie Eilish (works amazingly well as a summarization song of their whole relationship)

On a side note, in this line up Blinding Lights by The Weeknd and Die with a Smile by Bruno Mars & Lady Gaga are perhaps the least fitting songs, but I just love Blinding Lights for Chase post break-up and just fucking drunk and reckless, doing shit in his citadel and remembering First (the first verse really fits him and also the line 'you dont even have to do too much, you can turn me on with just a touch' line makes me snort so hard because horny Chase headcanons lol). Die with a Smile, on another hand is just a very good song in general, and I can imagine First and Chase on a huge battlefield, injured and tired after they fought together against a common world-ending enemy and just getting together at the end of it. UwU<3<3<3

🎶period accurate spotify playlists, part 1

these are just my own headcanons for what music i think they all would listen to, if they had spotify back in the 70s.

i'd love to hear thoughts, if you agree, disagree, or think i should add any songs!

sirius: glam rock: bowie, queen, and t.rex. classic, vibey, with just a hint of gender.

remus: british punk: ian dury, the clash, x-ray specs. anger, anti-conformism, and activism. a little bit sexy, or so thinks sirius.

james: mostly prog rock: supertramp, electric light orchestra, and stealers wheel. what i would consider dad rock, easy to sing and dance to.

regulus: soft oldies: chet baker, edith piaf, and the platters. love songs with jazzy instrumentals and strong vocals. it's nostalgic to him. no one but james has even seen his music collection.

Was thinking about this all day yesterday but hcs on some IM characters and what their modern music tastes would be and why I think that

Gonna start with Fanny who I think would like rap and hiphop, pop is fun and all and I do think she'd be into pop culture but considering the history of rap and how it usually gathers the attention from people with unfortunate backgrounds [abuse, oppression, ect.] combined with her personality I wanna say she'd like rap

Holly took me a solid minute before I decided she would like indie music, specifically experimental indie, but she's definitely one of those "knows a little bit of everything" music people but also can pull up the most obscure song playlist known to mankind

Cuphead is SO easy, rock, grunge, punk, the alt genre you know what I'm talking about. I feel like he'd have a lean towards indie creators as well. Partly because we all know him as the edgelord he is but also because of that one time Cup was grumbling at the Gala about rich people. I did debate on him also listening to rap but I decided he wouldn't, I feel like the [usual] lyrical choices of rap would bug him and the morals he maintains. I also believe that he'd hate pop due to how corrupt Hollywood is.

Boris was the other one I was struggling with but then my coworker who was playing music started playing country and it hit me like a rock. So I feel like country would be the one he'd lean into, but ultimately considering his age he'd just listen to what everyone else is playing on repeat while he explores what he likes

I went back and forth with Bendy because so badly I wanted it to not be that answer [because otherwise I was just imagining him breakdancing which is so cursed to me] but Bendy would like pop. It's catchy, easy to dance to and also more then likely played all over the place which considering Bendy and Boris grew up on the streets, would most likely be the first genres they're introduced to. However I imagine he usually isn't too picky about his music, as long as he can move to it. I feel like later on he ends up listening to more alternative and indie with Cup and Holly's influences but moreso as a "just to listen to" kinda thing. He also knows a LOT of different types of dance styles and can basically dance to any song. It's just pop is his go to.
