Yogi: [walks up to a line of elderly citizens.]
Lippy the Lion: [talking to Yogi] Hey, no cutting! You gotta wait your turn like everybody else!
[Yogi notices a long line in front of the Jellystone Cemetery. The sound of a church bell plays.]
Yogi: No! No! I ain't old like you! I ain't old! I ain't old! [runs away]
Hardy Har-Har: What's his problem? [the line is for ice cream]
Shazzan: Next?

Postcards from Snagglepuss
Look what turned up on Okoboji's waters!
ON WEST LAKE OKOBOJI, IOWA: Sunset ... that wonderfully fascinating moment when what you'd likely want to do is light the fire pit out back, sit beside the lake and swap all manner of stories for God-knows-how long into the night. Maybe adding a few s'mores into the mix of excitement.
Even if they happen to be diving stories that involve a rather interesting lupine trio of divers ... and for some reason this particular evening, a lion and a hyaena.
"Am I too late for the party?" asked Lippy the Lion in that Joe E. Brown inflection of his.
"LIPPY?!! HARDY?!!!" (That was our entire company, chiming away at the sight of the pair.)
Which had Hardy responding "Oh me ... oh my ... were we likely given the wrong directions by chance?" To which Huckleberry Hound and I set out a couple more lawn chairs for our surprise guests and gave them much welcome.
"Has anybody ever mentioned," Lippy observed, "where this particular lion has actually developed something of a fondness for the diving sensation?" To which Mildew Wolf, ever the master of snark, rejoindered, "Who wouldn't among lions generally?"
Which brought out the laughs, inevitably.
Lippy, continuing: "I would have to acknowledge that one time where Hardy and I were trying to find sunken treasure, off Florida I believe it was, guided by a rather cheesy-looking map ... and for some reason, some shark took more interest in the treasure than we did--or at least tried to!"
"But even then," Hardy added in that myopic tone of his, "the diving was basically breath-hold more than anything ... and trying to lift up quite the treasure haul in our condition amounted to the rather Sisyphean!"
"But at least the experience was something of a learning curve," Loopy De Loop was quick to chime in.
"It was, Loopy," Lippy was quick to add. "In learning to appreciate diving as a rather interesting sort of sport!"
Which saw Ding-a-Ling, Hokey Wolf's boon compadre, relate how he discovered diving: By way of a lupine summer camp up among the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota, taking up a challenge by a rather brash young camper wanting to know how deep the lake really was. And for some reason, "there was this camp counsellor who felt, considering my background, that maybe diving would be a rather worthwhile distraction from what amounted to a dysfunctional background."
"Which is where yours truly came into the equation!" chimed in Hokey Wolf. "And in time, we of the lupine persuasion, on the sidelines you might say, of a Character Convocation felt that we could do the legendary sea wolf one better, being quite the pack of wolves as were fond of diving!"
"I take it," asked I, "you mean Loopy, Mildew and yourself."
"Who else, Snagglepuss?!" was how Hokey responded. "And what fascinating escapades we certainly have underwater whenever the opportunity presents!"
And you can just imagine how it was bound to continue well into an Iowa evening's warmth....

20/?? Childhood TV Shows You Should Watch
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Title: Lippy the Lion and Hardy Har Har
Episodes: 52
Original Air Date: September 3, 1962 - August 26, 1963
Synopsis:
The cartoon revolved around ever-hopeful Lippy's attempts to do a get-rich-quick scheme, with reluctant Hardy serving as a foil. Whatever the consequences were to Lippy's schemes, Hardy would end up getting the worst of it; a fact he always seemed to realize ahead of time.
My Rating: 5/10
My Reasoning:
Okay, while I do like this show it's honestly not as memorable as some other Hanna Barbera cartoons. Also, it follows the same kind of plot lines as most of them with the characters trying to do some kind of "get-rich-quick" scheme that fails. It can be entertaining but overall I think it's an average cartoon. I do remember liking the characters a decent amount though.
So even though I did rate it low I still think it is worth checking out and watching a few episodes here and there at least. Who knows you might even really enjoy it and watch all of it.

If ever there was a houseboat which could serve as diver's quarters for Peter Potamus' crew along the Florida Keys--let's just hope it isn't too much for their aesthetic.

Postcards from Snagglepuss
So what was Christmas like among a diver's camp, and in the Bahamas even?
Rather interesting, to say the least.
Thankfully, the Jolly Roger's galley managed to survive intact in its new incarnation as the Diver's Delight, mobile headquarters of the Peter Potamus Magic Divers ... and it wasn't just the tradition-bound turkey and trims.
Conch stew, in a Bahamanian manner (Peter even picking up the recipe from contacts in Nassau), served as the appetizer course, with a little preparatory help from Wally Gator, Ol' Chuckleberry "himself," and yours truly. And what could get oh so aromatically tasty waiting for the turkey (and presumably, you're probably obvious about what such is bound to entail).
But still, even considering the Bahamas' British associations, never mind its independence in 1973, it was felt interesting to have some plum pudding in the classical English manner for the dessert. Steamed, even, right down to the brandy butter.
All in all, just filling enough to recognise that we were a little too full to go diving afterward, instead resting things off until sunset, when some rather lively snorkelling as the reef goes into the evening mode of such blacklit-looking wonder prevailed. What could have rounded out Christmas Day among a diver's camp all the better?
=============
At any rate, ye of the Hanna-Barbera persuasion, Snagglepuss would just like to use this chance opportunity to thank all of you taking stock of this now-twice-weekly feature of mine, enjoying such exploits fresh and wonderful bound to happen to such a nicer, if klutzy, mountain lion, laid-back Southern-type hound ... and the friends who manage to tag along.
As well as this blog whence these escapades appear, wherein much in the way of Hanna-Barbera Fandom is laid evident; I certainly hope you keep making such a welcoming part of the Hanna-Barberian experiences you manage to keep in your routine.
"Thank you for your support," even ... and 2024 promises much in the way of further escapades. Especially as this year sees its tenth anniversary therefor, even!

Leoncio y Tristón
Lippy the lion and Hardy Har Har
I drew this because I wanted to draw more Hanna Barbera characters, especially the least known ones. Also I saw this image of them with different color palette, and you know how I like to draw that kind of stuff lel
Yeah, it's not because I'm a big fan of these characters, but they look pretty charismatic
Sorry for the lack of art these days, I forgot about my page here lol, I'll upload more stuff soon
