Help Us Do Real Science!
@talesfromtreatment and I have an ask for our fellow corn snake keepers and breeders.
We're gathering information on corn snake size by age and we need community scientists like you to provide the largest possible body of data.
@talesfromtreatment will be using the information gathered to build an accurate, statistics-supported corn snake growth and feeding guide based on ACTUAL data from ACTUAL corn snake keepers like you! I'm just the numbers gal.
Here's what we need:
Your snake's age (in years)
Your snake's weight (in grams)
A top-down photo of your snake's entire body with an inch or centimeter reference. (see photo below)
All of this information entered in our online form, linked below or copy/pasta: https://forms.gle/QtAwmiFa6fpBewFs8
https://forms.gle/QtAwmiFa6fpBewFs8
We'd love to get data on older snakes, younger snakes, fatter snakes, skinnier snakes. If you've got a corn snake we want their age, weight, and a photo of them with a measuring device.
Photos don't need to be fancy, just give us a top-down view of your snake and a ruler/tape measure/yardstick on a flat surface.
Tumblr media
The survey is anonymous and we won't share your photos with anyone nor use them for any purpose beyond collecting morphometric data for this specific study.
Please please please help us collect as much data as possible. Share with your reptile-keeping friends, signal boost, submit your metrics, and stay tuned for updates!

Amir if he was a Pokemon trainer, or scientist/researcher.
But when I was doodling this, This could be a close idea/thought of Amir before the infection/techrot. Anyways plain background undercut.

The fact that Nintendo will let TOTK die (just like ACNH) when they could've released a DLC: it could've contained memories between BOTW and TOTK explaining the reconstruction plans, and it could've given us missions to reconstruct parts of Hyrule...
It will never sit right with me.

i am begging the other leftists on my fucking dash to stop reblogging anti-voting stuff until the election is over. there are so many doomers on this website who do not have the critical thinking skills to fucking use their brains and tons of them will be genuinely swayed by what they see online.
for the love of god, queue it for after november 5th. queue all your criticism for then. unleash the fucking beast after the election is over. but it is so fucking irresponsible to be reblogging that shit now.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
indeed my exact process once every 8 months or so
#I just thought today of a new way to format a 'profile' (like the descriptions of self that people use on friend meeting#apps and stuff) and how to organize the sections so that it seems such and such a way and oh what if there's links which click off#into branching paths so it's very acessible and there are two different forms depending on so on and so forth#and i was like 'um.. wow. amazing idea. this will be soooo aweseome and will definitely work' but then .. you know...self reflection#lol.. is this just like the millions of other iterations of a similar thing? No.. This Is Different ... Surely...#Though if I had a millionaire friend and a few people who do the type of coding you use for web design stuff and etc..#I could create the most elaborate detailed and amazing platonic friend seeking (and I guess you could also have 'dating' as an option#since that would draw in more of a crowd) website on the earth.. the new okcupid (back when okcupid didn't suckishly abandon their#whole format in hopes of trying to become just like tinder or whatever and they actually had like tons of info and percentages and#open answer questions and would list personality traits on a profile (like 'this person is more Open To New Expereinces than 65% of#other users' etc.). etc. etc. Oh what a beautiful thing I could craft for the detail freaks of the world.... Alas...#unfortunately we seem to be in an oversimplification era.. everything in short quick bites. everything on a tiny phone screen. etc.#marketing 'Introducing The Most Complicated Data Heavy Social Connection Site In The World' would not sell well I'd imagine gjhgjh#AANYWAY.. also no idea why the representation of me is in a turtle neck. what a bold fashion choice..#In another moment of self reflection.. the fact that in the first tag on this post I felt the need to define the word 'profile' just to be#specific as if people couldn't tell from context.. so clearly someone who finds filling out forms a 'fun afternoon activity' lol#the type of guy who finds psych evaluations and pop quizzes and making chore lists mostly enjoyable (< true)

very good paragraph basically describing neomedievalism in its most trite and least inspired form. brief reductive definition for probably a significant amt of you who dont know what it is, neomedievalism is a fictional medieval setting inspired by other fictional medieval settings rather than the actual middle ages
i like neomedievalism (In the highly specific instances that define it for ME) which is why . its my url. but like the term was kind of invented as like. Well if it was invented today by a twitter user they'd call it fantasyslop. And like admittedly the reason the term needs to exist is bc of derivative shit like this.
the entire reason a medieval setting can be safe and cozy for some ppl is basically bc the fantasy genre has certain tropes and beats that are expected and unsurprising for people. it's escapism and wish fulfillment to the maximum. it reminds me of one of the introductions to neomedievalism that i read that i tend to dislike for being overly negative but i feel is relevant from the paper neomedievalism, hyperrealism, and simulation by brent and kevin moberly:
Tumblr media
this is really relevant for this book because it tries to be escapism, "turn-your-brain-off" type of fiction but you can't help but wonder hey how the fuck does this function? i thought this was supposed to be a medieval society? like they said in the article:
Tumblr media
this is really the "staging its own death" that they were talking about

Wowza, self promo time!!
I finally finished this DaForge fic! After way too much time procrastinating, I present you this:
Rating: Teens and up
Category: M/M
Fandom: Star Trek: The Next Generation
Relationship: Data/Geordi LaForge
Tags: Holodecks & Holosuites (Star Trek), POV Geordi LaForge, Angst with a Happy Ending, Pining, Canon Sherlock Holmes roleplay, Many references to Sherlock Holmes, author ships JohnLock, Misunderstandings, Data Has Android Emotions (Star Trek), Data glows in Geordi's eyes, sappy at times (okay most times), Closets, Getting Together, Friends to Lovers, Mild Hurt/Comfort
Summary: Data and Geordi are best friends, however, Data has started acting weirdly. Geordi isn't sure how to react, especially because it is all somehow related to Sherlock Holmes.
Thank you so so much if you're gonna give this fic a try, I really did have a lot of fun writing this<3333

The archivists I spoke to were confident that much less government data will be permanently lost than was initially feared. But they also saw little reason for complacency. “What we don’t know is how much material has been changed,” Mark Graham, the director of the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, told me. His team is tabulating how many dot-gov pages with certain keywords have been modified or deleted; in the lead are “health policy,” “World Health Organization,” and “systemic racism.” Their backups are foundational to many of the more recent efforts to archive the federal web. But they’re also closer to “snapshots” than functional substitutes: What use is an archived F.D.A. finding aid if it’s been disconnected from back-end data, and doctors without coding skills can’t use it to research clinical trials?
“It’s a lot easier for the archival community to say, ‘Yeah, we have a bunch of data,’ than it is to say, ‘Yeah, we’re hosting a bunch of server-side applications that will help you navigate the data,’ ” Jack Cushman, the director of Harvard Law School’s Library Innovation Lab, told me. Last month, his organization released a backup of the more than three hundred thousand data sets hosted by data.gov. (At least three thousand of the originals have been removed.) They’re also working on open-source tools to make all this data navigable.
Last week, the guerrilla archiving movement reached an important milestone, when restoredCDC.org went online. It’s a replica of the health agency’s pre-Trump website based on backups from r/DataHoarder—one that’s fully functional, with a reconstructed back end and interactive tools. But fresh challenges loom. Librarians and data hoarders have been able to save only publicly available records; restricted ones, such as the D.O.J.’s National Database of Police Misconduct—or the internal records being shredded by employees of U.S.A.I.D.—may be gone for good.
