Check out The Light Dragon (which also called the “Great Lightning Spirit Dragon” in Japanese) concept art from the Master Work.
Also this piece I spotted there..
…. reminds me of how Chihiro is riding Haku in his Dragon form from the 2001 Studio Ghibli film ‘Spirited Away’.

braincell nourishment i found eariler today that I've never seen before??
quality isn't the best but its readable
where i found it under the cut
what its called: Nintendo Comics System - Featuring The Legend of Zelda 07 (1991).cbz
i read it on Internet Archive, though i couldnt find it with search? but the link* works to get you there i think.
The Nintendo Comics System comics are a collection of (you guessed it) comics, most of them don't feature anything to do with the loz franchise, but i found one that features the series, i already have it scrolled down to the correct one 'featuring the legend of zelda'
|| this short comic is a small inbetween break inside of another longer loz comic, that you can also check out! ||
*link to the comics (stupid ahh pun intended):

On what day did Ganon awaken in Breath of the Wild?
(Or 'How much time does it take, logistically, to go from Sanidin Park to Mount Lanayru and then back to Lanayru Promenade?')
In memory #14 Zelda informs Link that the following day it's her birthday and that she will then make her way to the Spring of Wisdom. From the position of the sun and the direction of the shadows, we can tell that memory #14 happens at dawn. According to the description of the memory, they are returning from a field survey.
In memory #15, when Zelda and Link meet the champions at the East Gate of Lanayru promenade, after having returned from the spring, Ganon Awakens.
But how much time passed between the two memories? (Assuming they mean to reach the mountain as soon as possible or if we are just interested in knowing the earliest they could have taken to reach it.)
It depends of the path they have taken. There are two probable options:
Returning to the Castle, then heading to the mountain (purple + yellow in the map);
Going directly to the mountain (red + yellow in the map).
To see how much time these paths take, I've recreated their trip by travelling along the main road, riding the descendant of Zelda's horse. I've opted for trotting, the second slowest speed, because realistically a horse shouldn't be abused and in memory #14 they ride even slower.
RETURNING TO THE CASTLE, THEN HEADING TO THE MOUNTAIN - PATH #1
Starting the journey at about 5:00 from Sanidin Park, you can arrive at Castle Town at about 14:30. It should take a little more to arrive to the castle itself, but I wasn't able to ride there due to the high number of guardians. We should add half an hour for lunch, likely at the village by Carok bridge, bringing the hour of arrival at 15:00.
Regardless, if they have not taken the direct shorter route but decided to make a stop at the castle, Link and Zelda do not mean to leave for Mount Lanayru until the next day.
The next day, if they leave Castle Town at 6:00, considering that they have left the Castle itself even earlier, they can arrive to Dueling Peaks Stable at about 23:00. The first couple of hours are very approximative, as the guardians hindered me and, when I killed them all, they bloodmooned. We should add half an hour for lunch, likely on the road or, if late a lunch, at Gatepost Town, and half an hour for dinner, likely on the road. After counting the breaks, it would be already 00:00, too late to travel further, so they would likely spend the night at the stable.
GOING DIRECTLY TO THE MOUNTAIN - PATH #2
Starting at about 5:00 from Sanidin Park, you can arrive at Dueling Peaks Stable at about 21:00. We should add half an hour for lunch, likely at Gatepost Town, and half an hour for dinner at the stable. After counting the breaks, it would be already 22:00, too late to travel further, so they would likely spend the night at the stable.
BOTH PATHS
From this point onward, both paths are at the same daily time, but the first path happens a day later.
Starting at about 5:00 from the stable, you can arrive at Kakariko Village by 9:30, where they would probably stop for half an hour. From there, they would proceed off the main road to the Lanayru Promenade. They would arrive at the East Gate at about 16:00. We should add half an hour for lunch on the promenade, bringing the time of arrival at 16:30.
Since in memory #15 Link and Zelda don't have their horses after the East Gate in Naydra Snowfield, from here I proceeded on foot, walking at the same pace they usually walk when they travel in memories.
Following the path mostly hidden by the snow, it takes an eternity to go anywhere at this pace. At 21:30, I was just at the end of Naydra Snowfield. Adding an half an hour for dinner, it brings the hour of arrival at 22:00, so I believe this is where they would have camped.
The next day, starting at about 5:00 from the end of Naydra Snowfield, you can arrive at the Spring of Wisdom at about 17:00. We should add at least an hour and a half for lunch on the road and frequent breaks, since the road is uphill. Also adding half an hour for dinner, bringing the time to 19:00. It is reasonable to presume that for the night they camped at the spring.
Given the direction of the shadows and the position of the moon, the prayer in memory #13 happens at about 00:00, so it is more likely than not that Zelda makes her prayer between sunset and dawn.
I haven't actually walked all the way back to the East Gate of Lanayru Promenade, but assumed it still takes about a day and a half, which is also in agreement with them arriving at the gate to meet with the champions at sunset in memory #15, considering the direction shadows and the position of the sun in the memory.
That's when Ganon returns!
So the two paths take this long:
Returning to the Castle, then heading to the mountain: DAY -1: Returning at the Castle; DAY 0 (Zelda's birthday): Travelling from the Castle to Dueling Peaks Stable; DAY +1: Travelling from Dueling Peaks Stable to the end of Naydra Snowfield; DAY +2: Travelling from the end of Naydra Snowfield to the Spring of Wisdom; DAY +3: Travelling from the Spring of Wisdom up to some point down the path: DAY +4: Resuming the travel up to the East Gate of Laynaru Promenade. GANON RETURNS!
Going directly to the mountain. DAY -1: Travelling from the Sanidin Park to Dueling Peaks Stable; DAY 0 (Zelda's birthday): Travelling from Dueling Peaks Stable to the end of Naydra Snowfield; DAY +1: Travelling from the end Naydra Snowfield to the Spring of Wisdom; DAY +2: Travelling from the Spring of Wisdom up to some point down the path: DAY +3: Resuming the travel up to the East Gate of Laynaru Promenade. GANON RETURNS!
Personally I think the path in which they initially return to the castle is the most sensible, because:
The description of memory #14 says they are 'returning', which strongly implies returning to the castle.
Zelda says she will make her way to the spring after the following day.
It would be unrealistic for Link to be informed of the journey just as they are about to begin it.
Therefore I believe Ganon returned 4 days after Zelda's birthday at the earliest and that it is not possible for him to have returned on the day of her birthday.
#I'm glad he didnt awaken in her birthday#also i love this type of content i love the commitment#botw

Tell me more about your WIP “Little Birds”!!
It's a bit hard to explain because there isn't much action or a plot. It follows Zelda's POV, 15-20 years after the Upheaval. It's set on a random morning: while her kids play, she thinks about her own childhood and her fears regarding her kids (what if they feel like failures if they don't awaken their powers? Or what if only one is able to awaken them at all?), and her fears of the future (one of her daughters has requested to learn how to fight with a sword, what if that means she'll have to face Ganon in the future?)
I'll leave it there, because I feel like I've already said too much, lol

WIP Ask Game
Thanks @haste-waste for the tag :)
Rules: Make a new post with the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Tag as many people as you have WIPs. People send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, then post a little snippet or tell them something about it!
[Note: Many have stupid code names. I also didn't bother with proper punctuation in many instances, so I'll transcribe the titles as they are, lol.]
1- the first = first chapter in my Hyrule ""History book"" (100% based on BOTW's map, with nods to the rest of the games. Zelink is central and romantic in this first part, however, it's not always romantic)). Fun fact: there are many Zelda OCs, since all the first born girls are called Zelda, so each of them has a nickname (or several) through which they are known to History (or should I say: Herstory?)
2- au = Orpheus and Eurydice Zelink AU (set in the BOTW/TOTK universe. Yeah, there's a pattern here... Oops)
3- Little Birds = post-TOTK (like 15 years after). It's an epilogue inspired by the last chapter+epilogue in Mockingjay. Guess the ship...
4- Post-Pre 1 & 1 (I just realised I wrote the same story twice in different files (they're not a 100% the same scenes, but they're different scenes from the same story) = post BOTW, pre TOTK. It's not very developed, but my idea was exploring Zelda's mental state after the Calamity, and filling gaps between the games. Yes, it's Zelink (in many different ways)
5- Summer Solstice /Yearning = post BOTW, pre TOTK. A lot of Zelink yearning, yes, but I started writing it because I wanted to write about the Soltice's mysticism and the traditions Hateno's people follow, so I focus a lot on descriptions of clothing, dancing, rituals...
6- Forbidden = pre-Calamity Zelink smut. Only there's no in-text smut and it's all about the emotional aftermath. It was inspired by a gif
7- Random Scenes = supposed to be part of WIP 2 mentioned above. The title is plural but there's only one scene of less than 200 words, lol
I am obviously ✨obsessed✨. Honestly, when it comes to FanFiction, I've always been a reader; my writing has always been about original characters and original stories, despite the amount of fandoms I've belonged to over the years. That is, until I played BOTW. It inspired me so, so much, more than anything I've ever played/read/watched before...
Anyway:
If we're mutuals, you're tagged (I don't dare to tag anyone, I'm too shy :( sorry)

The 'BOTW has a bad story' people really confound me because let me tell you, if it weren't for that story I wouldn't be in this fandom.
My attachment to this game comes from the fact that it was 2020 and I was freshly dealing with the worst phase of my life when I decided to put that game in. I'd never been part of the fandom before, in truth I'd avoided it for years because it felt too big anymore to pick up. I'd only bought it because it was the most popular Switch game I knew outside of Animal Crossing.
And I fucking hated it at first because I was in no way a gamer and it took me forever to get the fuck off the Plateau. But once I was out and able to explore, I started having fun. Just doing random shit. Until one day I decided fine, I'll follow the fish guy.
And all the little cutscenes and quests that followed got me into it. And it had such momentum I couldn't put it down. Before I know it I'm dodging ice blocks and doing midair archery trickshots that I NEVER would have imagined I'd be doing. After all that, you've got to do the Beast, right? That's what all this is for. So I did, and let me tell you, as a first time Zelda player and novice gamer, those puzzles were HARD, Vah Ruta was MASSIVE to me and took hours!
So when I finally solved it and knew the boss fight was next, I was ready to go to bed. It had been enough and I knew I'd get my ass kicked, maybe I'll come back soon. So I saved. And for some reason I decided, since I know it's going to kick my ass, I'm just going to take a run at it and see how bad it's gunna be, it'll be funny. And I honestly don't recall how that fight went because it was such a blur, but I remember being SHOCKED that I won. Just absolutely stunned.
I was so full of adrenaline and righteous joy. How'd this even happen, this was supposed to be so out of my range yet, the plot just pulled me up a mountain and it was awesome! And then, that beautiful music comes in, and you finally see Mipha, and she's so sweet and soft and sad, and so wishes to help you on your journey that she'll use her spirit to heal you. It's so poignant and, damnit, Mipha didn't deserve this fate, she must be avenged! If you weren't in the story before, you might be then, and if not then, then when you walk back down and see Sidon praising you and saying how he was right to believe in you, and all the Zora that doubted you are now cheering for you, and the rain is gone, the sun is out, and Zora's Domain looks absolutely gorgeous, and it dawns on you that you just saved an entire people, and you're gunna tell me you went through all of that and don't genuinely feel like a goddamn hero!?
I don't believe you.
#this#we have a similar story with the game#i really connected with Mipha when she said she wished to see her father one last time i CRIED#when i had finished all the Divine Beasts i cried because I knew i would never experience it for the first time again#Zelda's story also pulled me in I was invested#no other piece of media has made me read and WRITE so many fanfics#i hyperfixated harshly lol#breath of the wild#the legend of zelda#botw#totk is also really fun to play as much as there are things that could be improved in the storyline and memory mechanics

finished my fanbind of Interim by starkraving (@punishandenslavesuckers) and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out!
it was my first fanbind and it's nowhere near perfect (the gold foil fought me every step of the way, the spine is about as straight as I am, and I forgot a somewhat crucial piece of cardstock beneath the bookcloth...) but i'm so, so happy to have this amazing fic on my shelf now, and i'm stoked to take what i've learned in the binding process this time into my next attempt!

I was thinking about this due to something I'm writing, and I think they still have weak spots:
1. They're very vulnerable to a siege
2. In BOTW races are rather isolated due to the Calamity, but that doesn't mean that in Hyrule's peak times Hylians weren't familiar with the Desert (alternatively, a Gerudo ally could serve as military advisor)
3. Enemy groups formed by Rito could penetrate easily from above (tho they'd be weak at night). Gorons could also be pretty hard to battle against, regardless of the Gerudo's training and height
4. Before the Calamity Hylians seemed to have had better equipment to fight (they had proper defensive clothes, cannons, and archers (plus Sheikah technology). Tbf, cannons would be hard to get into the desert)
the whole of the gerudo region is so impenetrable it's actually hilarious. thinking about it from a military point of view, there are only TWO feasible points of entrance to the desert- the canyon, and the sea. The mountains surround the whole place, and it's impossible to get an army across them for obvious reasons.
The canyon is very long and narrow, and it would be difficult to move troops through it + it would be incredibly easy for the gerudo to pick them off.
Now for the sea. A Hylian force could probably take ship at Lurelin and sail down to the Gerudo beaches, but then what? It's a long way from said beaches to the town, and don't forget that Hylians are completely unaccustomed to the desert, which would be hard enough to traverse even if you were equipped for it, which the average Hylian soldier definitely isn't.
If it ever did come to hand-to-hand combat, the Gerudo have an obvious advantage. going off what that npc at the noble canteen says, eight feet is less than average height for a Gerudo, whereas most Hylians don't exceed five feet. It's also not just the height- the gerudo are obviously in peak physical condition, and, as ive said before, they're natives of the desert, which means they know how to fight in it.
tldr, the gerudo have practically no weaknesses on their own ground and they are badass asf. good day.
#my hyrule history project has me thinking deeply about this stuff and I'm no military connoisseur lmao#but as i was writing down every location on the map i realised: shit the desert is a very well protected area#so i had to Think Hard™#legend of zelda#loz#gerudo#zelda#tloz#they're the best ngl and they cultural differences between them and Hylians are fun to explore in fiction#fanfiction*

The FUNNIEST thing in Tears of the Kingdom is that Ganondorf clearly knows there's ~something~ between Link and Zelda because you CANNOT tell me that he wasn't using Puppet Zelda to try and seduce him in the castle
Which logically means Ganondorf was using what little strength he had then to catfish Link
