Black Haze girls’ sleepover headcanons

(Featuring Liltopaz and Eperia too because uh... AU where everyone is alive and together yeah)

Miss Ren graciously hosts the sleepover at her place. The real reason was because she couldn’t trust what everyone else’s houses were like and this seemed to be the safest option.

Lin brought food and snacks. It was so good everyone wanted to know where she had bought them only to be informed that she had made them herself. She was henceforth unanimously invited to all their future gatherings.

They had a makeover followed by a impromptu beauty contest that Iel won by a landslide, only to find out afterward that she hadn't even used any make up.

Yuti initiated a pillow fight which she won because no one could bring themselves to throw a pillow at her so they took each other out while she remained last one standing.

Tessiana was tasked with picking a movie to watch and she chose an action thriller with violence and gore which she greatly enjoyed but caused the rest of them to set the designated bed time back due to lack of sleep afterward.

Eperia came up with an arm wrestling contest for a party game, and after beating Tessiana in the finals, came out the victor.

Yuti, still not wanting to sleep, insisted on hearing a story beforehand to which Liltopaz happily volunteered. Two hours later, everyone was asleep but Liltopaz still hadn’t finished her story.

Ruby was the reason the sleepover happened in the first place, when she revealed she’d never been to one and everyone else offered to fix that. Ruby won’t admit it because she’s tsundere, but she had a blast and didn’t know the strange human tradition could be so enjoyable.

This chapter was too painful. I knew all along that eperia would die, but I wasn’t expecting this (for her to die like this). Why introduce a character make me love them, and then kill them?? 

A few things I want to say/that surprised me:

1) Eperia and lanoste’s love is too pure. Eperia had already ‘prepared her death’ long ago. As she had said before “a [princess] cannot be happy” (chapter 217). She suspected something might happen to lanoste or to herself, so she gave lanoste earrings and placed a magic on them. A magic that would transport him to a town of healers when he would be at the brink of death. Her last words to lanoste were: “Lanoste. Please live on”. (T-T) I believe lanoste is going to create the association to protect shicmuon from the tower and the empire.

2) Lanoste’s love confession. It was beautiful... and tragic, considering what happened right after.

3) Lanoste’s crying face

I never thought I would see him cry!!!

4) Meredith appearing. So he is the reason why the king decided to acknowledge the existence of the princess and her baby!! That was unexpected, and kind of funny, since meredith doesn’t like (the present) shicmuon, yet he was the one who asked the king to make his existence as [yujerian pel kansiol] known to the world. In a way, meredith saved shicmuon since the king would have either used him as a puppet or killed him (shicmuon didn’t have his parents to protect him). It’s harder to use shicmuon if the world is aware of his existence. Another thing, was meredith thinking of princess liltopaz while he was talking of princess eperia?

5) SHICMUON AWAKENING. What the hell? He was a baby!! How is that even possible?! Although, I am definitely not complaining here. To think he would be so strong... 

... To cause this much damage and to kill someone. Essiahel deserves what happened to him, so I don’t pity him. Anyway, does anyone (from the tower/empire or even lanoste) know how he died? 

6) What happened to shicmuon’s mark of the contract? He only has the mark of the magician now (I think)... did the king somehow manage to transfer the mark to princess yuti? What happened?

wait.. wait.. let me try to reorganize black haze timeline.. because I’m confused.. please kindly correct me if I’m wrong

- first, rood chrishi is currently 15 but rood sertia was dead when he was 8 so the demon king has been living as rood for 7 years

- kiel was gone for the tower when he was 16 and rood sertia was born around this time and so he was 21 when found out he has a brother, and this was also when the tower experiment with little kids happened (now? he is 31)

- shicmuon is 21 now so the current flashback with eperia happened exactly 21 years ago, so shic was already 11 y.o when the demon king came into human world, I wonder if the mess including eperia’s death happened around this time, or maybe even sooner (lanoste? hmm.. he was 19 when he met eperia and shic is 21 so.. 40.. whoa)

- this makes the current kansiol king is eperia’s brother and the little prince we saw on ch217 is the current crown prince who talked to shic when he first arrived on imperial castle with blow

- now we have liltopaz as the first princess who has the magician mark.. and.. meredith arrival in human world happened in this time frame

- liltopaz had a brother and the flashback said that she was hurt, blind, depressed, etc etc etc so I don’t think she had time to marry and have children

- (starting from this point on is just my assumption) eperia and his brother was probably born from liltopaz’s brother and eperia inherited liltopaz mark because she is the next generation of kansiol only princess, which also enabled her to have access into lil memories as the previous mark holder.. the demon she made a pact with? I don’t know probably still meredith

- this makes yutiarien as the daughter of eperia’s brother and also as the only kansiol princess of this generation to be the next in the line to inherit the connection-between-the-two-worlds-mark. but since both blow and meredith went back home the mark between two worlds disappeared

- and the rest of it is still left in the dark, let’s just wait

- what I am trying to say is.. the author messed up the timeline and my confusion is mainly caused by that unclear timeline. at some point I even thought that eperia and liltopaz is the same person somehow. turns out it maybe only a simple inheritance through out the generation kind of thing? well.. no offense, just wish they will make it clearer in the future because I like this manhwa a lot!

I tried making Black Haze girls on the Pastel Girl (doll dress up) app. I know some of them may not look quite close enough, but it was the best I could do with the limited colours and options I had.

Alternately, think of it as my take on what some of the girls’ casual wear would be like. XD

I see that whenever things get an adaption, in the comments section the old fans who know the story always have interesting interactions with the newer ones who don’t.

I’m just here imagining a hypothetical Black Haze PV trailer that’s a 30sec clip of a teenage girl with blonde and pink hair singing and dancing through a garden of flowers... and the old fans are already having a meltdown in the comments section. 

Everyone else is like “What’s the problem?? She’s so happy” and we’re like “THAT’S EXACTLY THE PROBLEM”

Liltopaz Idel Kansiol

The first Imperial Princess of the Kansiol Empire.

BH Theory: Who will be the next King of Kansiol?

We know that Princess Liltopaz...

bears striking resemblance to Princess Yutiarien.

And it has been established that this similarity is no simple coincidence (on the author’s part at least).

While rereading I couldn’t help but notice that the original King Kansiol 

looks a lot like...

Prince Yumehen.

Just like Yuti and Liltopaz their hair is nearly identical, with the only notable difference being their hair type: Lil had wavy hair while Yuti’s hair is straight. Meanwhile, OG King Kansiol’s hair was straight whereas Yumehen’s hair is wavy (the exact opposite of the two princesses).

Now, I don’t particularly wish for Yumehen to go evil (I find his constant obliviousness and confusion rather endearing as a character tbh), but it could be very possible. 

Think about it: The current King is on his deathbed, while the Crown Prince is in poor health. It wouldn’t take much for Yumehen to wind up becoming the next King.

And history may come to repeat itself once again...

Yumehen might be all nice and cute to his sister right now.

But currently, he’s the prince. What’s to say how his heart will change once he becomes the King? 

Nothing corrupts a man faster than power.

Out of the three princes, Yumehen doesn’t really do much and seems to be the middle child that gets ignored often (by both the audience and the characters). 

He also has a rather plain character design that looks simple and innocent.

So where am I getting to with all this?

My point is: what if he’s the author’s next twist villain?

I randomly googled “Blonde pink hair” wondering what Liltopaz’s hair would look like irl and I’m so glad I did

I discovered that certain kinds of roses could be used as funeral flowers to denote different meanings and this happened XD

Liltopaz (light pink rose): symbolises love and gentleness (for the Demon King)

Eperia (dark red rose): symbolises grief and sorrow (of Lanoste)

Ibriel (yellow rose): symbolises lasting friendship (with Lidusis)

Sometimes I wonder whether Rubymonter’s gender was decided by random or Meredith specifically intended her to be female. 

If it’s the latter, he was probably thinking of Liltopaz.

I don’t normally post my art online, but there isn’t that much content in in the Black Haze fandom so I thought I’d contribute, haha.

I loved the princesses’ story in the series. I love how Black Haze is a dark fantasy that satirizes fairy tale and fantasy clichés, and one of my favourite twists is how special princesses can never have happy endings in real life because people would abuse their powers for politics rather than protect them. 

So, have this misleadingly rosy artwork to celebrate the horrors of the Mark of the Contract! XD 💖

Lanoste seems to remember the story Eperia told him about princess Liltopaz pretty well. What if he decides to tell that story to Rood? And he doesn't realise that Rood knows Liltopaz? 

Lanoste only heard the story as Eperia told it, and Eperia knew the story as Liltopaz understood it. For all Lanoste knows, there was only one demon king in the story and he is dead. He might decide to tell Rood all about Liltopaz’s story without realising that the demon kings in the story are two separate ones. 

Rood already knows the fate that befell Meredith (demon) because LISPEN, but would hear the details about what happened to Liltopaz for the first time. 

Lanoste only realises when Rood starts crying half way through the story while repeating Lil's name, before Lanoste has mentioned her name himself. Sure, he knew Rood was a demon king, but he didn't think that he was THE demon king. Lanoste may be a rough person at times but he ain't heartless, and when he realises that he was talking about the horrifying tragic end of someone whom Rood closely knew, he quickly stops. 

"... I didn't think she was someone you personally knew." 

"She was the first human I ever met." 

"I’m sorry,” Lanoste murmurs remorsefully. “I shouldn't have told you about this."

"No, please continue," Rood insists, wiping his tears away in vain as they continue falling. "I need to know what happened."
