#personal#delete later#for context a tweet i made in the middle of the night blew the fuck up and brought the attention of anime fans who've been#harassing and hassling me about my big factual blunder for an entire day straight#“ok i'll apologize” “bro it's not that serious.”#“you're right it's not that serious“ ”why won't you just admit that you're wrong and apologize!“#i'm not going crazy right. i feel like i'm getting manipulated into thinking i must've been wrong#it's crazy how twitter hate will trick you into believing saying something someone else disagrees with is a moral failing#sorry i haven't seen frieren i guess but what's it to you. i wasn't making a claim or statement#also because nobody has gotten this in the original post i wasn't talking about the quality of animation i'm talking about solid drawing#which is a very specific principle of animation. dandandan has really good solid drawing wherein all the characters are animated#with realistic and proportional 3d depth. newsflash but trigger doesn't prioritize solid drawing in their animation and that's fine#it's an aesthetic choice and has ties to production limits. none of this is a big deal. this is all so stupid lol#i've dealt with worse and more annoying weebs though it's fine i'll put on my clown nose twitter needs their stupid guy for the day#oh btw at the end of the day this doesn't matter. it'll be over by tomorrow. all that's happening is petty angry emotions.#so please don't involve yourself by jumping into the argument and prolonging this shit#i'm about to go on a date with tulli after being apart for a month this is the furtherest thing from my mind rn

i get such a sense of primal envy when looking at edwin’s clothes up close because god you can just tell his coat is real wool and made to last and not cheap flimsy mass produced garbage and auggagghhhh that was just STANDARD in his time. by no means am i saying i was #borninthewronggeneration because i like having vaccines and household appliances but. man. to have a personally-tailored coat like that that’d last for years and years……. and fabrics of fine thread-dense quality………. if only

not a huge fan of posts that go "you can't criticize veilguard for having a dumb thing because previous games did a similar dumb thing too!"
like, why not? just because a similar dumb thing was present in previous installments doesn't make it less dumb in the new game. we can still criticize it for being dumb. in fact, previous games have been criticized for this dumb thing many times way back when, so why stop now?
maybe if we criticize it enough, the devs will finally make an effort to either write in a better, less dumb way, or avoid ideas and concepts that they know they can't write & implement without stretching the player's suspension of disbelief paper thin in the first place. no one is holding a gun to their heads to do it in this one particular way, they can just write something else.
"it doesn't have to make sense, it's a video game" yeah, a video game with dumb writing. good video games make an effort to avoid dumb writing as much as possible. and we're not criticizing these games because we're haters or don't understand video games, we criticize them because we want them to be of better quality. we deserve what we tolerate etc etc

I'm still seeing a lot of angry takes in the tags about how excessive Watcher's current costs are and how all fans really want, apparently, is "just shane and ryan sitting in a basement" back again. While I do think Watcher is probably spending over budget and that's a real issue, a lot of the takes I'm seeing show a fundamental misunderstanding of how video production works and where costs actually lie. So a few quick things that I just keep seeing that are bothering me:
It was never just Shane and Ryan in a basement. BFU did a great job selling that conceit and making sure you never saw anyone beyond them and maybe TJ, but they absolutely had other crew members with them on ghost hunts and they didn't do all the work on BFU themselves. This Q&A from Season 2 lists 36 people on staff for Buzzfeed Unsolved. It's fair to make arguments that Watcher may or may not need 25 people, but those arguments should not be coming from a place of "before it was just Shane and Ryan and nobody else."
If you don't know how many people are needed to make a professional video from a TV/film standpoint, you will not have a reasonable grasp of why Watcher wants to keep 25 people on staff. Sure, some YouTubers get by with a ring light and a contracted editor. The Watcher team have stated repeatedly that they do not want to work as just YouTubers and see themselves more as a production studio—so why do people keep referencing the YouTube model to understand their business? This is like asking the local shake shop why it doesn't function like the kids' lemonade stand down the block. The item category is similar but they're not trying for the same products or process.
The "gold dusted food" is not the big budget sink you think it is. On most TV shows I've worked on it's normal to partner with businesses that are shown onscreen and work out a deal where the price of the product (in this case the gold food) is reduced or eliminated in exchange for the free publicity. Watcher very likely made a deal with every restaurant it worked with to make the Korea trip affordable for the company. The real budget spends are on things you're probably not seeing but that still matter: camera and lighting equipment is expensive, insurance for that equipment is expensive, business overhead and paying your staff are expensive. So again—it's fine to critique Watcher for the streaming plan and the perceived budgetary issues, but go into this knowing the costs might not be coming from the things you see onscreen.
My source is that I work in TV and film and actually have a clue on how the industry functions. Again, 36 people worked on Unsolved (and those were the people mention in Season 2—who knows how big the team blew up past that in later seasons). Entertainment work is real work, and demands decent equipment, competent staff, and the same types of business and budget problems you'd find in any other business (overhead, staffing, etc.). Feel free to critique Watcher's business model, but first try to understand where that model is coming from and what goals it's attempting to serve.

I've been hooked on nomads recently so of course I just HAD to draw something
I know the series is pretty angsty right now, so here ya go!

the quartet (I don't know what comes after trio💀) riding on one of the turtles in the sea kingdom
I was admitedly very lazy with the outfit design and honestly I'm not even gonna try and hide the fact that that turtle was 100% traced💀
I wasn't in the mood to do ANOTHER study, which uh... probably explains a lot
Oh wow, I wonder how long that took me to-
Tumblr media
oh well😭😭😭😭
hope @captain-juuter (the author) likes it at least💀

I have mad respect for tgwdlm- which started the hatchetfield saga with a third of the budget as npmd (and ~1/5 of black fridays), the smallest cast and crew, the shortest run time (while also having to dump lore for their other shows), and if im not mistaken their first in LA- and they pulled it off. We saw four chairs, a handful of props taped to the back, and endless costume changes, and that was enough for us because the story was so funny and so heart warming and so existential at the same time, not to mention so well performed!
And mad respect to nick lang who took a risk casting a complete stranger to the starkid fandom as the lead of this show (which again was meant to kickstart a series so, like, no pressure man) and of course, praise to jon matteson for killing it.
And even though i genuinely believe npmd is their best production to date, tgwdlm is still my favorite they’ve ever made ❤️

[Image ID: A digital drawing of the character Freminet from the video game Genshin Impact holding a Blahaj, a stuffed shark toy from ikea. The colour scheme is mostly blue. Freminet is a young white boy with straight blonde hair that goes down to his chin, with sharply cut bangs hanging over his right eye from the viewer's perspective. He has blue eyes and pale eyelashes as well as freckles. He is dressed in his usual in game outfit minus his beret, a short sleeved and short legged diving suit with a thick navy coat over the top. It has pale beige and gold lining with golden detailing. The sleeves are rolled up and the hood falls around his sholders. The coat is somewhat short, going down to his mid-thigh. He is wearing navy fingerless gloves that also have golden detailing. Freminet also has large shiny navy lace-up boots, with chunky golden soles with some more metallic details around his ankles (coming out almost like folds) and around the top edge. There is also a small pack strapped to his thigh coloured in neon blue and the shoes also have some neon blue highlights on a part of the top rim. He has a pensive expression and is looking off into the distance, holding the blahaj in his arms with one leg curled around it. w/.End ID]

Anyone else incredibly happy by the animation in the new clips?? It's awesome! the expressions?? Movements?? Rayla's action scene?? the 2D water??? like it seems the animation from S2/3 is back! Season four was... kind of bad and even if S5 was improved it still didn't have the smootheness of Arc 1 SO YIPEE

now that I've rewatched the video, I still stand by what I said earlier, because in this economy, $5.99USD/$9.63AUD might be the price of someone's next meal. It might be all they can afford for this or that medication. Or their bus fare to a job interview.
just. maybe y'all shouldn't have had the guy who drives a Tesla and eats edible gold and dishes worth over $1k say everyone can afford it

OMORITOBER DAY 14: LIBRARY
i like to imagine spirit mari tossing down her favorite memories for omori to read while peeking around to see omori's reaction :3
i was thinkin of drawing her too, but honestly i wasnt very sure what pose to do and i was a bit tired !!
thanks to @/ntrogensolar for the omoritober prompt list!
extra rant in the tags ab why this isnt a full piece!
#artists on tumblr#omori#omori fanart#omoritober#inktober#ez_draws#ez_rants#so heres the deal#i get very tired easily with the whole onyl certain amount of 'spoons' per day thing#i spend most of my time doing my homework#and after that i feel like ive gotta finish the drawing for the day#this means i subconsiously sacrifice time doing things that i truly wanna do including spending time with my friends and doing other things#if i prioritize doing the things that i want to do a little more than this challenge#it ends with me kiiinnddaaa staying up pretty late trying to finish the art#and also lower quality art in general!#however i dont wanna quit the challenge just yet; we'll see how things go but for now i was thinking just doing a sketch! it allows me to-#still do a daily drawing which is great for someone who sometimes goes months without drawing and still not burning myself out on the dail#for example - this drawing took about an hour even though i took my time! and i was also able to spend time with friends and family and-#still be productive! i know i dont have to explain myself; its my art after all but yk i like to explain stuff especially when in relation#to my art! i wanna make sure the art i make is something i truly enjoy and not a plaguing responsibility- so i'll be adapting this-#challenge to my own needs! anyway thats all- sorry for the long rant! and congrats to the people who have enough time and motivation to do#the full challenge!!!#ok byebyeee! and i might be posting more silly sketches in my free time!#rant over <3

I wrote 1400 words today in 3 hours, which is absolutely nuts for me (usually I write in like 1, max 2 hour sessions, and get like 200-500 done on days that I write). I'm tempted to write more, but I'm just about to finish the first big scene of the chapter and if I leave that for myself tomorrow that gives me a really easy starting point to get into a good flow again.
My chapters are usually about 6k-7k on average. I warned y'all in advance that I expected this to be the longest chapter in the entire fic, because this (and ch 16+17) are going to be the most character development-heavy, climactic parts of the narrative. And since I'm want to make this chapter in particular hit like a motherfucker, I am being very generous about not rushing the pacing here. So far Chapter 15 is 4500 words, and my god do I want to write more of it right now, but I know damn well that overall writing more consistently in shorter sessions gives me much better results so I'm going to let my creative batteries recharge.
Normally, I don't make my writing any longer than it needs to be, because I am able to take the events of what could be a 15k chapter and make it just as effective in, say, 5-7k, and it's taken a lot of skill development to be able to do that successfully and without much difficulty. However, (I hope) I have enough practice with the "rules/standards" of "good writing" that I'm experimenting with breaking that particular convention intentionally.
Which is... not usually what my readers expect from my updates lmao. So I'm giving y'all a warning in advance:
I'm gonna estimate that this chapter's gonna be 13k-15k. Probably 12k at the absolute minimum. Will it actually take too much longer than a regular chapter? Probably not a whole lot because I'm in the creative-energy-overflow stage of chapter writing that gets me so in the zone that I've powered through half the chapter in a week before I know it.
