...I can't tell what's funnier, the fact that I know that all of these are true because Eido is surrounded by people who are all either war criminals or murderers (or both), or that I can't actually figure out who's who beyond a few guesses. i like to think they’re a good blend of both looks wise, but teddy does favor carmen more and willow does you.

personality wise, willow is carmen through and through. she’s got a little bit of you in her, when she is comfortable with someone, she can be silly and sweet and enjoys their company- not as much of a loner purposefully like carmen is. and not as anxious as carmen is, but she’s quiet, shy, and i think the difference is, is that she’s content by herself sometimes. it’s not sulky or anything, she just likes to be alone and be quiet, it’s not a reaction or response. it’s just how she is.

teddy definitely is the opposite in every way. she is loud and confident and looovvveeesssss attention. more of your personality, yes, but everyone also swears she’s mikey reincarnated. she’s good with people, can talk to anyone and everyone, good about relating to people and making them feel loved and appreciated. she’s incredibly socially intelligent even from a young age. she’s just a ball of sunshine and energy, and sometimes carmen is like “how is this my kid?” (esp when she starts talking to strangers lol) but she’s the sweetest. they both are really.

The fact that someone not only hears her, catching her in the act when others don't pay as close attention, but has something to say that's equally inappropriate back makes her melt. She gets all flustered, of course, trying her hardest not to show just how much she likes it, but everyone can tell. She's the only one who finds it funny or witty when you stay stuff that could aggravate others, but it's worth it to hear her laugh. Your friends can roll their eyes as much as they want, you do it for Marie and no one else.

Emma loves a sense of humor. If she can't joke around with you, she's not interested. Especially if you can't go along with the bit. She usually goes too far with the bit to the point that it's not funny anymore, but she doesn't care. She laughs from it, and that's what matters. She thinks she's hilarious, so if someone she's interested in doesn't laugh at her jokes, she immediately loses feelings. If you can't laugh with her at the dumbest things until there are tears running down your cheeks and your stomach hurts, she doesn't want you. She loves it when others are funny, too. Cracking jokes at the worst moments is the best way to steal her heart. If you can't take a joke about yourself shes not interested either. She grew up being the butt of the joke with her mother. She learned to laugh it off and expects it from others.

Sam really loves intelligence. Something about someone knowing a lot about a particular subject makes him smile his goofy smile. He could listen to you talk all day about things he has no interest in or knowledge of. When you talk with all that passion, it's the best thing he's ever heard. He loves asking questions, knowing you not only know the answer but as equally as excited to share. He's constantly in awe about your mind, the fact that you know so much and articulate it so well. It gives him butterflies, knowing he can ask you a question about anything, and you've got a pretty good idea about what you're talking about. It doesn't have to be traditional intelligence. It can be about anything. Just knowing all this blows his mind. He can't believe someone as smart as you would want to be with him.

You’re a familiar face around Nelson Road long before anyone realizes why.

You suppose people just think you’re friends with somebody else, like how Ted thought you were friends with Sam, Sam thought you were friends with Dani, Dani thought you were friends with Higgins.

Everyone finds out in their own, memorable ways, and by the end of it you just wish you had taken Rebecca up on her offer to post a public service announcement. 

You’re there because you’re dating Jamie, obviously.

How it took everyone so long to figure it out, you don’t know. You think it’s because you’re always talking to everyone that no one notices Jamie’s arm is slung around you in a more-than-friends type of way. I mean, to be fair, Sam slings his arm around you. So does Dani. Richard is constantly flirting with you and so is Bumbercatch, but that’s just how they are, so no one pays attention when Jamie does the same thing and you blush just a little bit deeper than the others.

Maybe they’re just dumb.

Anyway, here are a few of the more unique ways people find out:

Ted finds out because you and Jamie are making out in the parking lot late at night, after everyone else has gone home. He immediately recognizes Jamie’s bright orange shirt and ICON hat, but is unfamiliar with whatever girl he has pressed against his car. Ted isn’t one to shy away from embarrassing one of his kids, so he shouts, “Good night, Jamie!” from across the lot. You both jump and break apart, leaving Ted to see Jamie’s surprised face covered in lipstick smudges and your embarrassed one, illuminated under a light. 

Ted is surprised as well. He didn’t know you were dating Jamie, and he says as much. He says he’s happy for you both, but he still has that same look of surprise. The next day, he assumes you two are trying to be secretive about it, because he doesn’t say anything in front of anyone, and you and Jamie don’t bring it up.

Dani finds out right after Sam, and it’s because he’s showed up at Jamie’s house on a Saturday morning with a large bottle of tequila and taco supplies. Jamie had forgotten about their breakfast taco plans, so you’re not expecting Dani when you open the door in one of Jamie’s t-shirts, hair messy from sleep. 

Dani looks at you, you look at him, and you yell, “Jamie,” without breaking eye contact. Jamie thunders down the stairs, says, “oh shit,” and that’s how you, Jamie, and Dani come to be taking tequila shots at 10:30 in the morning while putting the most outrageous things in between Dani’s homemade tortillas and having the audacity to call them tacos.

You’re not too far into your second taco when Dani points between you and Jamie and says, “It doesn’t make sense, amigo.”

Jamie looks at him. “What do you mean, mate?”

“You and her,” Dani replies, “She has such intelligence, and you’re you.”

A Look flashes across Jamie’s face and Dani hurriedly says, “I mean no offense, Jamie.”

Jamie grins and says, “None taken, muchacho,” and leans over to kiss you. 

Dani ends up passed out on your couch by 1pm.

Higgins finds out two days after Van Damme because Jamie needed a ticket for you. “That’s sweet to look out for her,” Higgins says, “She’s kind of like the team’s sister, isn’t she?”

Jamie lets out a snort. “She sure isn’t my sister.”

Higgins looks up from his computer, surprised.

“She’s my girlfriend,” Jamie clarifies. “That’s why she’s around all the time.”

“Oh!” Higgins replies, “That’s, well, that’s a little bit, well, shocking if I do say so myself.”

Jamie nods once then shakes his head, confused. “Sorry, how d’you mean?”

“Well,” Higgins seems flustered, “she just- I suppose, she’s just incredibly intelligent, and well-educated, and usually girls like that don’t go for star footballers.”

Jamie just looks at him. Higgins shrugs. “You know it’s true, Jamie. Look at her friends and see what types of men they go for.”

Jamie’s just at the point of feeling like absolute shit when Higgins says, “She’s lucky to have you.”

Now Jamie’s really confused, but Higgins continues, “I’ve noticed she smiles a lot more since she started coming around. She isn’t as quiet as she used to be. Rebecca was just saying the other day that she seems more- comfortable. She’s special, you know. Not many women go beyond exteriors to get to a man’s heart the way she does. She knew you had a heart of gold the moment she saw you. Take good care of her, because she’s a keeper.”

Jamie says, “Oh. I will,” because what else does he have to say to that? He’s out the door so he almost misses when Higgins says, “I know you will, Jamie.”

Jamie tells you about it later that night, and, because it’s dark, he doesn’t see you frown.

Other people find out in similarly “interesting” ways. Richard asks you out and then when you say you’re dating Jamie, asks, point-blank, “Why? You are so smart and so beautiful and he is so, comment dit-on,” here he searches for the right word and settles on, “he is so not.”

You wrinkle your nose at him and say, “I’m pretty sure he’s smarter than you,” and then go to find Ted to ask him if he has any food allergies, which is why you’re even in the smelly weight room in the first place.

Roy hears about it from Keeley, and he walks up to you after training while you’re waiting for Jamie to finish showering.

“Why the fuck are you dating Tartt?” he asks, no preamble. By this point, you’re getting pretty annoyed with what people think of Jamie. You make a mental note to murder the next person who reacts like this.

You glare up at Roy. “What’s it to you?”

Roy shrugs. “He’s just a prick. And you’re not. You’re actually fucking smart. You use more words in a sentence than he has in his whole brain.”

“Don’t fucking talk about Jamie like that,” you say, anger radiating off your whole body. You’re shorter than Roy, but you swear you can be scarier. “Say something like that to me again and I will personally wax your eyebrows off.”

Roy takes a step back, hands up in defense. “Oi, look, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hit a fucking nerve. I say shit like that to him all the fucking time. I didn’t mean to set you off.”

He’s sincere, which causes you to deflate a little. You peer behind Roy to see if Jamie’s on his way out yet. He’s not.

“Look,” you say, “everyone has been giving us shit when they find out about me and Jamie. They say something really mean about me being smart and him being dumb, and I’m over it. He’s way smarter than any of you give him credit for, and you all just don’t pay attention because of his accent or his himbo energy or whatever, but I pay attention, and he actually has a fantastic grasp on the difference between academic and conversational language, a distinction many intelligent people cannot make. I just want everyone to back the fuck off.”

Roy says, “Shit,” and then Jamie’s bounding out the doors and you do your best to dispel the previous tension.

Roy looks at you both thoughtfully as Jamie gives you a quick peck and then opens your door. Maybe he and the team are too fucking hard on Jamie, although he’ll never fucking admit it.

You’re slicing carrots a little too violently when Jamie brings it to your attention by saying, “You trying to murder them, love? Pretty sure they’re already dead.” 

You look up from your pile of carrot shreds, pulled from your thoughts. Jamie smiles, the dopey one he does to make you laugh. You barely crack a smile, which wipes the grin off his face. Now he’s concerned.

“What’s wrong, babe? This about the fuckin’ carrots?”

You shake your head. “No. This is not about the fucking carrots.”

“What’s wrong, then?” he asks. “You’re obviously thinking the carrots are something else, so what is it? D’you need me to kick someone’s fucking nuts in? Is it Roy?”

You ask, “Why would it be Roy?” in a tone that states it wasn’t not Roy.

Jamie shrugs. “I dunno, maybe the fact that your face looked like a thundercloud two seconds before I kissed ya, or the fact that his fuckin’ eyebrows were scrunchier than usual.”

That makes you smile for real. “How did you even notice that?”

Jamie smiles back, relieved that you’re no longer hell-bent on chopping the carrots and pretending they’re someone else. “I’m a genius at body-science,” he jokes. “I’m as smart as you, I just hide it better.”

That statement brings back your cloudy face and suddenly you’re ranting about Dani and Higgins, Richard and Roy, and anyone else who made similar comments including (but not limited to) Beard, Bumbercatch, Jan Maas, and a goddamn pub regular who you think is named Baz. 

You’ve finished your knife-waving and put it down safely on the cutting board when Jamie pulls you into his arms and kisses you. It catches you off guard, so you pull back for a moment.

“Want to go upstairs?” he asks.

Incredulity is written across your face. “I say all of that, and you want to go have sex? Please explain your logic.”

Jamie grins. “Babe, they’re gonna think what they’re gonna think. Can’t change it. Been using it to my advantage actually. So, I don’t care. But-” he continues, “I think it’s fucking sexy that you care. Hence, me fucking asking you to go have sex.”

You have to admit, that is a good logical jump. And he used the word hence. Correctly.

You concede and let him pull you away from the carrots.

You’re at Nelson Road again, this time in the locker room. Sex with Jamie be damned (not really) but you still fucking care. It doesn’t help that someone from work commented on your relationship in the same way the Richmond team has, a comment you shut down with something along the lines of inappropriate workplace conversation and I’m technically your boss.

Basically, you’ve had enough. You storm into the locker room and climb on the middle bench.

“Oi!” you shout above the din. The team quiets down almost immediately. “If I hear one more word about Jamie being out of my league, or his intelligence, especially when all of yours is highly questionable, I’m going straight to Ted and I’m telling him what really happened that night at last month’s away game.” You hold up a hand. “And don’t say he won’t believe me, because I know for an absolute fact he will take my word over all of yours any day, especially in this because it makes more sense than that bullshit story you fed him and Beard. Under stand?”

The team nods and mumbles, “Yes ma’am.”

“I cannot hear you,” you return snappishly.

You’re almost deafened by the “Yes ma’am!” they deliver in unison.

“Good,” you say. “Now, since I’ve all got you here, who’s coming for family dinner this Friday?”

Hands go up around the room and Jamie just stands back in awe. How the hell he landed someone like you, he has no idea. But he’s not worried about it. He doesn’t need to know. He’ll let everyone else worry about that.

🎀 Kyra’s last name, “Lovelace”, originates from the word “Lawless” or “Outlaw”! Which honestly fits her and her attitude perfectly, as well as how cute it sounds despite its meaning lol

🎀 Uses her affinity with animals for her ‘little shit’ shennanigans. Has sent an army of rats to Octavinelle during Book 3 out of pure spite, and always wins Croquet with Heartslabyul because the hedgehogs roll into the goals even though she clearly missed (shes actually really bad at croquet.

🎀 ^^ Her natural ability to draw in animals doesn’t stop there— but it seems beastmen and merfolk alike are also drawn towards Kyra! Although much more subtly. Though, don’t be surprised if a beastman comes sniffing around her without warning! (She doesn’t mind, she finds it cute!)

🎀 With waaay too much energy, Kyra just cant stay still for a minute! Always off on some random side quest, working a part-time job at Sam’s just for the fun of it to partying it up with Scarabia, she just can’t stick to one thing for too long! She’ll dissappear for a minute and come back with something completely random. You really never know with her.

🎀 She customized her uniform herself, and has always been fond of making her own clothes out of spare cloths and fabrics ever since she was a child! Her first ever dress she made was from the fabric of a curtain.

🎀 Despite how rambunctious she can be— Kyra can also be incredibly gentle. This comes out whenever taking care of her friends, even if she finds it funny to (playfully) bully them, she doesn’t mind letting them lay in her lap and quietly singing to them until they fall asleep.

💔 (Self) Toxic Positivity : Anyone who knows Kyra knows just how positive she is. But, what they don’t know is how deeply imbedded it is in herself. Although Kyra always speaks about how important it is to allow yourself to express your emotions, be it anger or sadness, she encourages others to express themselves.

But that does not go for herself. For some reason, she refuses to ever show any sign of “negative” emotions in herself.

Toxic positivity is a "pressure to stay upbeat no matter how dire one's circumstance is", which may prevent emotional coping by feeling otherwise natural emotions. Toxic positivity happens when people believe that negative thoughts about anything should be avoided. Even in response to events which normally would evoke sadness, such as loss or hardships, positivity is encouraged as a means to cope, but tends to overlook and dismiss true expression.

Instead of properly coping when faced with overwhelming, negative emotions, she instead chooses to ignore it entirely. She jokes about it, and pretends it doesn’t exist. All of these pent up emotions keep on layering on eachother, yet she continues to bottle it all up until she explodes.

💔 Impulsivity, with zero regard for safety : Infamously known for her reckless behavior, but her impulsiveness constantly puts her in danger. It doesn’t matter how many times she gets hurt, she just keeps on doing it— constantly running head first into danger again and again with zero regard for her own safety and health.

💔 Calm— to the point of being uncaring : Kyra is coolheaded. As chill as mount Everest, and goes with the flow just like water following a stream. This calm mindset is both a blessing and a curse, even if she is good at staying calm even under crushing pressure, she can struggle to see the urgency in situations until its too late.

Ever since they both caught a glimpse of eachother, there was always this strange feeling of familiarity. As if they’ve met before, somewhere… Perhaps once upon a dream? (Nah, jk. Opening scene ref!!! She took his hand teehee)

They’re canonically soulmates. Eachothers compliment, theres no one on land nor under the sea that could ever be as in sync with Floyd as Kyra is. They just… Click. Their hearts beat in the same pattern, and they’re always on the same page. Well, even when they aren’t and they argue, they can never stay mad at eachother for too long.

Remember what I said about Kyra being naturally very touchy? Yeah, this is a whole new level. Kyra has no problems showering Floyd in kisses and affection, both physically and verbally, even if they are in public. She doesn’t see how it could be seen wrong, after all they are just the best of friends !! Shes just really comfortable with him, thats all.

In fact, she gets cuteness aggression from him! Thinks that hes the cutest thing ever, and she just cant help but swoon and coo at him, squish his cheeks and pepper his face with kisses!

Floyd doesn’t mind at all! And returns the favor! Of course, there are times where he isn’t in the mood, and Kyra is more than understanding. But no matter how upset or angry Floyd gets, he could never be at Kyra. He’ll come to her grumbling about whatever hes annoyed about and melt into her arms, and she’ll listen while carressing his hair and humming along.

Its hard not to assume the two are dating, when Kyra runs into his arms at match speed once hes in view, and he picks her up n’ spins her around like they didn’t just see eachother earlier in the morning. Hard not to assume they’re dating when Kyra tells him ‘I love you!’ So shamelessly in public.

Hard not to assume things when Floyd is so obviously, ridiculously soft around her. Absolutely smitten, you can practically see his heart eyes, paired with that lopsided, dopey grin. Not to mention the way his mood seems to do a total 180 and cheering right up when Kyra is around! He could never get bored with her, even when they’re doing nothing but laying in bed together in silence. Everything they do, in his opinion, as long as theyre together, then its fun.

Are they really that oblivious…? Theres no way… But, it seems as time passes, the realization is beginning to dawn on both of them! Its about time! (No, seriously. Everyone is sick of them. Especially Ace. Gags whenever he sees them being all “lovey dovey”, pun intended.)

After Book 2 Kyra basically looked at Leona and said “yeah, thats gonna be my big bro!” And ever since she just refuses to leave him alone. Literally.

Kyra sees the good in Leona, she knows deep down he does care for the people around him even if he says he doesnt. And she finds it so endearing!! She loves him dearly as her big brother, and wants to help him get his motivation back!!! (Has absolutely tricked him into doing his own homework by pretending it was hers.)

Though he won’t admit it, he sees her as a little sister and somehow takes pride in knowing she knows she can depend on him.

The best of friends ! Late night walks where Malleus— or, Hornton, talks about gargoyles and Kyra listens, and talks about whatever comes to mind. Kyra always invites Hornton to Ramshackle for a little hangout, and she enjoys playfully bullying and bantering with him. Malleus finds it amusing how ‘brave’ she is, and plays along. What a funny little human!

Who could be a better friend than Kyra? She was practically meant for this! Platonic soulmates?? I think yes!!!!!!

They exchange random little facts, Malleus talking about gargoyles n’ architecture while Kyra talks about mythology from her world! (“He… Ate his own children…?” “Haha, yeah.”)

Adam Ruzek x Reader

Adam just wants someone to love that won't break him apart

When Adam met you he wasn’t looking for a relationship. He was so far over being the fuckup, being the one who loved too much too fast. He had so many failed engagements it was embarrassing so when he met this detective from major crimes that the rest of intelligence already knew from before his time in the unit he couldn’t imagine ever wanting her to be tangled in his mess.

You however had deemed him worthy of friendship for some unknown reason. He quickly found out that you were the type of person that if you cared about someone they didn’t pull away or get in their own head, they never got a chance because you were always right there. You would be raising hell one minute and saving lives the next. 

It’d taken him a few months of knowing you before you finally told him just why Voight liked you.Turned out you’d called Voight a fucking idiot on a drug raid then not twenty minutes later had caught a bullet to your vest to save Lindsay. You’d gotten a cracked rib and Voight had come to the hospital to see you. “He’s an asshole but a semi decent asshole. If you’re one of his, you’re one of his” 

He sat across from you, watching as you talked about his boss and couldn’t help but smile. You were gorgeous and sweet, had a little bit of a temper but it would damper as fast as it would ignite. You always managed to have a kind smile for everyone simply because you told him your view was “Try to be nice first because if you’re a bitch first no one believes the nice but if you’re nice first then roll out the bitch it makes so much more of an impact”

He wondered at times why they hadn’t just tried to get you in the unit instead of pulling him out of the academy but at least by the cards falling the way they did he got to know you.

The more you got to know Adam, the more you wondered just why none of his engagements ever stuck? Did he just not want to get married? Did the exes just end up not being a good fit? You weren’t blaming the women by far because you knew Kim and loved her but damn the man was sixty percent golden retriever.

The day you met him he hung back when you rolled on scene and the unit had come to greet you. You noticed him hanging back until Al waved him over “Kid, come meet our major crimes detective” that was how Al always referred to you, Voight too. You weren’t just a major crimes detective, you were theirs.

When Adam had come over Al introduced you. Jay warned him “Easy Ruz, even Voight likes her” you saw the shock in his eyes at that little bit of information. “Voight? Hank Voight?” you grinned “I’ll tell ya one day”

You got close with Adam, you became friends. You hung out after work and on the weekends. You knew better than to fall for him because he wasn’t the type you could fall for. He was your friend, that was it.

That was what you told yourself until Kim called you one day to tell you Adam was having a hard time. She knew he needed someone and he wouldn’t open up to anyone in the unit so she hoped you could get through to him. You grabbed takeout and a six pack and went to his place.

Too much at one time. Adam couldn’t deal with much more but he couldn’t admit he was struggling. He couldn’t risk Voight suspending him. He was sitting on the couch with his head leaned back when he heard a knock on the door. He sighed and stood up, probably Kevin.

He opened the door and there you stood, a bag of takeout and a six pack. You didn’t wait for him to let you in, you pushed past him into his place “So I got your usual but I also got the teriyaki because last time you said it smelled good when I got it. I got beer but I got tea also so there’s options”

He watched you go into his kitchen, pulling out plates,cups and laying them across the counter. You acted as comfortable here as you did at your place. You hadn’t given him the chance to tell you he didn’t want company, you hadn’t asked him what was going on, you just pushed your way in like you always did. The way only you could. You stopped and smiled at him “Well, come eat dammit”

He smiled “Yes ma’am” and walked over to you. You handed him a plate then met his eyes “You know if you’re not ok, you can tell me” he nodded “I know sweetheart” you smiled “Good, then let's eat”

You were laying across Adam’s couch, your feet in his lap watching tv. This was a usual occurrence any time the two of you had spare time any more you were together, he always found himself or thinking about you. When he got hurt you dropped everything to get to med. When he needed someone to talk to you were there. He’d fallen for you without even realizing it. 

“Would you ever date a cop?” he asked and you looked up at him “Why? Are you hooking me up with someone?” he shrugged “Just wondering” you shrugged “Depends on who it is I guess” he nodded slowly “Do you have eyes for a cop?” 

You rolled your eyes back to the tv before answering “Well a detective” detective? Christ, did you have a thing for Halstead? “What unit?” he asked and you grinned “Intelligence” he nodded “Please tell me you don’t have a thing for Jay”

Your eyes flew back to him and you stared at him for a second before you cracked up laughing “Oh you beautiful idiotic man” “What?” he asked with a shrug so you threw your legs off his lap and leaned up close to him and pressed a kiss to his cheek “It’s you Ruzek,it’s been you for months now”

He smiled and turned to catch your lips with his. The kiss was gentle, featherlight but you had a smile on your face when he pulled away “Good because it’s been you too” you shook your head and got back comfortable “You can take me out on a real date tomorrow night ok?” he laughed at how you said it and the fact that you were currently curled up in his lap saying it “Ok baby” you cut your eyes up at him “Baby huh? I like that” Yeah maybe just maybe he could manage to fall in love one last time because he knew this one would stick.

So after obsessing over these dinky little content farm inspired Bootleg figures, I've done the most research that I can into their personalities. Doing so consists of watching one video of their cutout dialogue.

Funnily enough, if you think about it way too much, these characters have almost the exact opposite personalities of the Smiling Critters. I might make fanart of this later, if I can somehow get the permission of BuggyHuggy to do so.

And yes, I'm going to write about it right here, right now, because I have nothing better to do.

Craftycorn and Bully Bullito aren't too contrasting, but the latter has a crush on the former. They are opposites in certain ways, though. Bully is a lot more brash, rough, and seemingly not very creative. His dialogue implies that he doesn't really know how to reach out to people, while Craftycorn is the epitome of creativity and friendly with everyone (unless her limit is reached, who knows, she might have just been possessive over literal paint). I think he's jealous of her, in a loving way. It's a shame he was rejected. He seems kind all around (with no darker side that may or may not be canon).

KickinChicken is a well-intentioned sports fan who always has his friends' backs but is also competitive and up for a bit of mischief from time to time. His counterpart, Griffy Gingers, is similar to him in wanting to stir up a bit of trouble, but his pranks are less sensitive to others and can actually be harmful. He seems to WANT to get along with others and just have fun, but he pushes things too far in his attempts. He could maybe be a better person under the right influences. If he wasn't rejected, that is.

Bubba Bubbaphant and Moody Moose have a more direct contrast. Bubba is known for his intelligence and willingness to help his friends in times of need. Moody, confusingly, doesn't seem to be moody at all. He's more confused, unaware, and seeking anyone's help with his problems. He doesn't seem very smart and constantly relies on others. When someone comes across him, he states that he hasn't eaten in days, is currently homeless, and can't even remember his own name. He clearly can't support himself, let alone anyone else. He is truly the textbook definition of pathetic. He's not a moody moose. He's a moochy moose. It's a shame, really. He seems like a sweet guy.

Hoppy Hopscotch is a harder one to pin down. She's a dreamer, very ambitious, and another lover of exercise, just like Kickin Chicken. She might have an interest in space, who knows. But she obviously wants to travel far and do amazing things. Crocky Rocky is like this as well, but instead of striving to do better for himself, he's living in a shadow. The one belonging to the aforementioned chicken. He's constantly seeking validation from him, calling him his brother. Whether Kickin repricotiates these feelings is unknown. He also seeks to bring others into this "cool kid" clique he's come up with, not because he wants to help spread good vibes, but because he feels like doing so will prove something. Unless he does something different, this Critter isn't going to go very far, much less to the moon.

Bobby Bearhug is always looking to spread love to everyone around her, cheering up anyone who's feeling down, much like her pal Dogday. Tiggy Tigers is also looking to make friends and share kindness with them, but less to help others, and more for their own benefit. They make friends to make themselves feel better, and if the object of their affections is put off by them, they become EXTREMELY clingy. While Bobby can (and maybe does) end up this way, Tiggy acts out of a possessive need for control, always wanting to be the center of everyone's attention. And heaven help you if they decide to hate you instead. Maybe it's a good thing that they were rejected.

We all love Dogday, always reassuring his friends that everything will be okay, and looking at the bright side of things. There isn't really a Rejected Critter who directly opposes his viewpoint, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he doesn't have a counterpart. Enter Riddle Roo. Their gimmick is stealing things and collecting them. This doesn't really seem like much to go off of until you find out that they think others don't understand them because they're not a "hoarder" like them. That's not usually something someone admits to proudly, and there's usually a reason behind that kind of behavior other than wanting to collect things. My theory is that Riddle Roo hoards things because they're isolated and can't make friends. Their urge to steal might have been born from their loneliness, and their continued bad habits and isolation make them sink deeper into their self created misery. They're not happy with their situation, but they find comfort in superficial things, and as such, they see no reason to stop.

Finally, the misfit of the Smiling Critters. Catnap is the hardest to analyze. Other than the antagonistic role the real life one played in chapter 3, we don't know much about his character. All we know is that he likes to watch his friends sleep after helping them do so. This isn't a very good look. But hey, maybe Catnap isn't intentionally malicious. Maybe he really does have his friends' best interests at heart. Nobody can really say. You know who is intentionally malicious, doesn't have their friends' interests at heart, and has absolutely no shame in showing it? Snidey Spidey. This little creep really is a pest. They derive all their pleasure from the misery of others, scaring them when they're not expecting it. Usually, while they're sleeping. Sounds like the opposite of Catnap to me. Plus, cats hate jumpscares. Yeah.

Now, after all this silly neurodivergent rambling, I'm sure you've noticed something. One of the Smiling Critters is missing, and that's because she doesn't have a counterpart. The Smiling Critters consist of eight members, while the Rejected Critters only have seven. So Picky Piggy is left without a contrasting personality to compare. Shame, really. She's my favorite. I get why Catnap is the villain of chapter 3, but Picky Piggy could be a close second, I'm just saying.

Maybe I'll take out Sir Smiley from my bedside drawer and make him her counterpart. I'm not going to do that just yet because one, I'm still trying to hunt down a potential origin for his character, and two, I'm afraid to let him loose.

lily: very prideful and quick to anger but she's so soft and sweet and sensitive and loves her friends and shows it and she's very touchy feely and she's veryy opinionated and she's a little selfish but like she also cares so so much. + smart enough to be praised by teachers but she'll work herself sick for it &head strong.

mary: extroverted, egoistic, self sacrificing. she'll change everything about herself for you but she'll die before admitting it. loves too hard and destroys herself in it. she's never gotten over anything ever. seeks validation wherever she goes and takes and takes and takes but when she gives she'll hold out her heart for you.

marlene: very calm, very demure. she doesn't want to be in the spotlight but she'll also get mad when she isn't. very petty, holds grudges, homewrecker but she's brave and she's protective and she's ambitious, once she starts something she'll never give up and once she loves someone she'll never get over them.

dorcas: insecure, pushes everyone away, obsessed with the idea of being independent, very deeply lonely and when she loves you it's choking how much there is. she's witty and she's sentimental she's responsible she tries too hard she'll love you forever.

pandora: genuinely crazy, but she's trying, she's always trying. she wanders around in sheets and rabid when provoked, but she'll cut off her own leg to please the person she wants. she's clingy and she's dependent on her Current Person Of Interest she's blunt she's honest she's a little bit cruel, she's way too logical and also depends on vibes or emotion too much. she's prideful but she'll strip of her dignity if she's pushed.

severus: very insecure, very angry. he'll lash out at you twice a day and spend each night begging on his hands and knees for forgiveness, feel humiliated and do it all again. very aware and generally emotionally intelligent but he's blind to it when he starts loving someone too hard, his pride is everything to him and he's jealous of everyone, ever, but he's constantly apologetic about everything he's done.

regulus: soo egoistical. he needs everyone to think and know he's the best but he doesn't even know if that's true. peak superiority complex & inferiority complex. gets off on people needing him so he puts pieces of himself everywhere (it may or may not work). he's smart just never the smartest, good but never the best. he trails around his brother like a lost kid then spits venom when he's called exactly that. he's pathetic because he's more bark than he is bite and he doesn't even realize it.

barty jr.: crybaby. always crying for every and any reason ever. if he likes you he will have you whether you want him to or not - he can be charming (<- to some people) but he's quiet and he'll sit at your feet after breaking his own bones till you take pity on him. no pride or dignity but he'll get violent when he's hurt. he'll let you take his ribs out if you tell him he's good twice through it.

evan: freak. he's a loser and unknown and he's insecure but he's possessive and when he wants something he wants it he'll leash you to his bed if it gets to it and he'll cry about it ("why can't i be needed enough for them to stay forever?"). not very intelligent and sensitive about it, angry and he'll show it, stalker core.

Oh my god thank you so much! This is so sweet. I'm surprised my first ever post is doing as well as it is. I expected to pass as pretty unnoticed in the beginning. I do have a lot of headcanons for the characters, but I'm going to do Leo in this one since he's my absolute favourite

Note: I haven't read the HOO books in a while, but I just finished my reread of PJO, so if any 'headcanon' is actually canon, please just pretend that I'm Uncle Rick himself.

Leo Valdez Headcanons - loves sweet&spicy. If that's an option in the menu at the restaurant he went to, he will absolutely get it. He's kind of obsessed with it to the point where one might get worried about his taste buds

- if he had to choose between sweet and sour, he would absolutely pick sweet any day. That's not really the best considering he's very ADHD, even for a demigod and his intake of sugar doesn't really help much, but he just loves sweet. He doesn't care if it's chocolate-type sweet or sugar-sweet, he just likes it. You can bet that when he comes out of Bunker 9 after a long day, his tongue would be all types of colours because his 'meal' for the day was whatever candy was in his stash of sweets

- now if you made the choice between sweet, sour and spicy, he would struggle to pick

- he hates coffee. he's simply not a coffee guy. he thinks it tastes nasty, since we established he loves anything sweet and coffee is definitely not sweet. and he doesn't need it anyway, he's hyper as is. if anything, coffee makes him more tired

- i feel like he would get pretty into anime if he tried watching it. from the trending shonen, chainsaw man would be his fave, but in general he would be such a fan of one piece imo. he is that person who has unironically watched the whole thing like three times - he feels guilty when he isn't doing something productive since he feels this need to constantly be creating something, but he also loves to just get distracted by something and do his own thing for hours, even if there's no 'productive' outcome. so he 'wastes' his time and feels guilty the entire time, but the enjoyment he gets out of it evens out the guilt (what do you mean i'm not projecting on my favourite character... at all...)

- secretly a good singer. piper once caught him singing in the shower and then dragged him out and forced him to sing out loud because she was not expecting such an angelic voice to come out of him

- his go to karaoke song is 'cake by the ocean' by dnce

- i feel like he would learn how to play the guitar and he will be shockingly good at it. like he learns a song so fast and because his fingers are always doing something and tinkering with things, this is the perfect way for him to get his energy out while also having lots of fun

- i also feel like he would purposefully not tell anyone he learned the guitar and one day he just whips out this new talent of his and everyone's like '????'

- honestly, leo is just good at everything. if he wasn't a hephaestus kid, he would be a son of hermes, because he is such a jack of all trades. he is incredibly intelligent (which is canon, btw, and if it's not yes it fucking is have you seen the guy, he is borderline as smart as Annabeth, if not smarter, just in another flavour), but also anything he attempts to do, he succeeds in. he can draw, he can play the guitar, he can sing, he absolutely is a great dancer. you would expect he sucks at cooking but nope, there he goes, making a gourmet meal like it's nothing. he isn't much of a fighter, but if he needs to hold his ground, he can. he's just so versatile, you can barely catch him off guard with something he can't master in a few hours

Also, I'm hearing now that it was actually a crush he was having on her, which I hate. For writers to stop treating him like he's nothing but evil, because he's not!! He's just a kid who grew up with a kind of life that's VERY different from everyone else's and was just taught ever since from a really young age to see things in other ways because of that. He does have a heart, it's the reason why he's made so much effort to become the person and hero he is today now and has left the whole League life behind. And about him being a tough person, that's just literally his dang personality, it's not something that adds to him being "evil" at all either

For DC to also just let him choose and make his own path as a hero when he grows up. He shouldn't become the next Batman by force or go through with becoming head of the Loa either, one of the big parts about his character is about discovering who HE actually is and figuring out what he really wants for himself instead, so he deserves to make his own choices by his own will. He should also become a vetinarian when it comes to getting a career

Stop with the white washing and start consistently representing his Arab side more, just like how the artist Gleb Melnikov did very boldly and also wonderfully in Robin 2021 when drawing him

And another one for the writers is to also stop making him crush on older woman!!!! PLEASE!! Just cut it out already!!! This entire thing has been going on ever since he was just 10 years old and nothing about it has ever been "cute!" or whatever they think of it as! It's just freaking weird and I don't understand why DC writers keep doing that to him! He's just a kid, not a grown man, so treat him like it!!! And stop deaging woman who were also already much older just to be with him and stop setting him up with his own female family members too! That one's already happened twice now (Mar'i and Cassandra) and now I'm scared that the writers of the second Supersons movie are gonna push that into there too with Cassandra AGAIN and ruin the film that way, which I really HOPE that doesn't happen AT ALL!😖

Let him have an actual relationship with his Mother instead of keeping them distant so much! Damian deserves to have her in his life too, not just Bruce as his Father, and she also deserves to have him in hers as well. Despite how things may be, they really love eachother a lot and it's not fair that they don't get to be as close as they were before, which is also really heartbreaking to think about honestly

Damian should also get to have a relationship with Respawn too that can develop into a sibling one at some point if ever he ever does appear again in the future

Never let him act like a normal person, let him forever be his weird, strange self, because that's literally one of the biggest things that MAKES HIM DAMIAN and I love him for it lol. Batman and Robin 2023 tried to change this about him in it's protayal and I hated it, it felt like some imposter, which just frustrated me a lot and made some things boring too. This goes for other kinds of mischaracterizations that were done to him too, like Gotham War as the most recent example, which was a big time failure at doing it well in a different way. Writers need to learn how to get to know him better first before actually writing him in their stories, deciding how he will react and treat things that happen in said story and it's plot. Here's something else much better too, he needs to start getting writers who actually like/love, respect, and actually understand him!

• Sasha was first admitted to a college with the major Culinary Science, along with her boyfriend, Niccolo, but left the course after a month

• I want to eat food not study it was what she retorted to everyone, but in reality, she just felt she would not be contributing enough to the community

• As the major took out for a lot of field work, she signs up for all, and even joined internships from the first year itself, regarding the same

• A procrastinator; crams on the night of the exam, while Niccolo is cooking her assortment of dishes and gets super groggy on examination mornings :')

12. Connie: Graphic Design

• His mother was extremely proud of her son getting into the college; so much that she had told every other person passing on the streets how Connie will be a genius, in whatever tech stuff he is doing

• Opted for a college far away from home, because he wanted to experience life to the fullest by living alone, and learning to fend for himself

• Teaches basic computer science to two kids, and works as a freelancer digital artist, along with juggling his classes

• Loves his subject and puts effort behind it quite regularly, but call him for a party he'd be there with two extra beer bottles, ridiculously shimmery clothes and a party popper!

13. Jean: Architecture

• Look me in the eye and tell me that Jean doesn't look like a dreamy arch student, always carrying his sketchbook along with him and sitting down to draw the building or monument designs that seem to intrigue him

• Was in eighth grade, when Mikasa told him that the way he draws the buildings are very clean. Boom, and he wants to draw them for the rest of his life

• For some reason, his mother did not approve of his subject choice, until one day she found a few building designs doodled in placards sprawled over his desk and reconsidered her opinion

• Loves a good party once in a while, but really wants to work behind the subject so sometimes, calls a rain check

14. Erwin: Intelligence

• Ever since Erwin can remember, he wanted to be in the army, fighting for his motherland. That was what he had wanted all his life, and he had every quality to enlist himself for it until he sustained incurable injuries on his right arm trying to save an elderly couple from an accident

• Intelligence major was a piece of cake for Erwin, for he was a natural leader, acing all his classes with ease. He loves spending time in the library a lot, and his favourite book is rumoured to be 'Crime and Punishment' by Fyodor Dostoevsky

• He is equally loved and lusted by the women in his university, but apart from occasional casual flings, he does not want to engage in a relationship because it 'fuddles his mind'

• His room is speck clean and he likes working out regularly and eating healthy (cooks his own food and is distrustful of the canteen meals)

15. Zeke: Law

• In school, Zeke was reprimanded a lot because according to his teachers, he was 'always quipped with a brash follow-up question, with no regards to authority'. In college, he encashed it by enrolling himself in a law major programme

• He is a big believer in practical knowledge and quickly networked to find internship opportunities to practice and observe lawyers alongside his regular studies

• With an absentee father, he worked two side jobs as a cashier at Starbucks and a private tutor

• He participated a lot in debate competitions and moot courts to enhance his critical thinking and analytical skills

16. Marco: Film Studies

• Always a sweet and dreamy guy, Marco chose film studies because he passionately believes films influence people a lot

• Ask him, and he will name the most obscure movies just to seem like a film student with a mysterious air, while in reality, his favourite movie is Mean Girls

• Likes people watching and tries to do all his college work sitting in a cafe, with 'coffee, coffee, coffee!'

• Has tried making short films, and although the themes and plots have been pretty good, he is yet to get real recognition for them

17. Porco: Aviation

• Ever the cocky guy, Porco took aviation because it made him feel like he was on top of the world

• Scored average in theory but was very skilled in practical knowledge

• His professors have often recommended he enlist for the air force, but he doesn't want to; he wants a low-key life without stress (staning a king who knows the importance of mental health!)

• Flirts A LOT with his fellow classmates, and 10/10 uses his charm to get his homework and assignments done

18. Pieck: Inorganic Chemistry

• Pieck's main goal in life is to see more women in STEM, and thus, her major

• Has excellent mathematical and statistical skills and uses them efficiently to excel

• Straight A student, has the special lucky glasses that she wears while taking her exams

• Gabi originally wanted to become a footballer and had once run away from home because she felt her parents did not approve of her career choice

• While football is still her passion, she has a newfound love for marketing

20. Falco: Art History Criticism and Conservation

• Falco loved visiting art museums as a kid, and this love of his followed well into adulthood

• His favourite artist is Monet, and his core memory of college is their field trip to the Sistine Chapel

• Loves art, any art in any form, and appreciates every art he sees; is passionate about learning more and has inculcated the skill of finding beauty in everything

awkwardly looks around. um. so. let me preface this by saying takara was actually created with the intent of making everyone involved here suffer,

takara is a fankid oc born after ranpo and lippmann hooked up at some point shortly before the events of storm bringer. in the canon universe (ehhh well not Canon exactly but, the close-to-canon au where takara exists) lippmann dies before either he or ranpo even know she was conceived and his ability is passed onto her. then ranpo gives her up for adoption after she's born bc what's he gonna do? raise a child? absolutely not. he has no interest in that.

even as a kid, she's very charming and very good at getting what she wants from people, between being well-spoken and intelligent. she goes too far with it sometimes and doesn't really understand the consequences of her actions are, in fact, consequences of her actions. she's probably got the tism from ranpo. also important to note she has a beauty mark like lippmann's in approximately the same place

name: takara ishi, kanji for first and last name can be 宝石 which was the name of the irl edogawa ranpo's mystery fiction journal. takara meaning treasure/jewel and ishi meaning stone ability name: actor of a hundred faces

- she likes sweets - she's clumsy - her hair is impossible to tame - the bunny is a family pet

obviously in canon-esque universe, takara ends up coming back into contact with ranpo anyway at some point bc she's interested to know more about her birth family (and she's also got this insane ability for ?? basically no reason at all as far as she and her adoptive parents can tell??) so she and ranpo have an amicable relationship but it's more like.. ranpo's her weird older cousin or estranged uncle than her dad. which they're both fine with

but ohhhh in a flags live au...... lippmann would keep her and he would love her so much. and all of the flags would absolutely adore her. and through seeing their love for her, ranpo would end up liking her even more too. because in canonverse he carries out the pregnancy mostly out of a sense of obligation so while he doesn't resent takara, there's still a sort of.. disconnect there that just can't be gapped. but if the flags live and ranpo sees how lippmann looks at her like she's the sun moon and stars, he starts to see her that way too. they actually don't even end up together bc they want different things and they never planned for their relationship to go past a hookup anyway but they're still friendly towards one another. in my mind (said as if this isn't my oc story) there's a stretch of time after takara is born (while the pm and ada are at odds) where ranpo isn't really in contact with either of them, and then after the truce is made, he starts spending more time with takara. but because of the tension between groups it was safest if he just cut contact. also because can you imagine: pov you're ranpo edogawa the world's greatest detective and this new guy with a shady past shows up wanting to be part of your detective agency and you look at him and realize he was previously with the mafia instantly and then you look at him again and. this kid. this guy. demon prodigy mafia executive-turned-unemployed loser. held your daughter as an infant???? i would go insane. and then dazai on the inverse looks at ranpo and is like woah all those insane fan theories were wrong. that's lippmann's baby mama. and he's not a mama. insane. okay i'm done now

[Black Iron Submarine mini-review, spoilers]

I finally saw Black Iron Submarine (on a Saudia flight as an in-flight movie—the subtitles were interesting because they used the Arabic dub names (some characters got atypical pronunciations like Shinichi got rendered Sinichi, pronounced more like Senshi in the Arabic dub, Kogorou is Tougo and Sonoko is Souko/Soko???) and a sort of masking of the Organization's codenames, translating them in odd ways to make the alcohol origins a little unclearer, I guess, but otherwise, solid subs. The advisory warning at the start amused me, but reasonable, given the blood and violence (that bullet ripping through that woman's head. -shudders-)

It was an exciting and fun film, absolutely adored the Haibara Ai/Miyano Shiho focus, Gin looks great in the anime again (I'm curious as to who decided many of his scenes should have flowing hair bathed in golden light, it's gorgeous, but MAN... so glad he looks good in the anime again), Naomi Argento being grateful Shiho took the attention off her as a new subject of bullying, but being too scared to stand up for her, so Shiho's alone in all her school security camera pictures in the States... is so, so, so sad, but so believable. A lot of people are too scared to speak up against what's wrong, fearing they'll be targeted, so quietly look the other way.

Gotta love Vodka being a classic movie mobster surrounded by more hardened criminals, complaining about another organization member trying to climb up the ranks, even if he does so by hurting others... I also love how he's totally down to believe Sherry shrunk into a kid somehow and calling up the very skeptical Gin about it, fff. But the movie also still remembers Vodka is no stranger to cruel threats and punishments...

Naomi's family being threatened, her tears over her father, the way her pure-intentioned system meant to protect everyone regardless of age or race and locate missing persons was under pressure to be repurposed for sinister goals... it was such a triggering situation for both Hondou Hidemi (Kir) who remembered being forced to shoot her father to complete the mission herself and throw off suspicion of her being a spy like he was... and Sherry's sister being killed and her parents' drug which she had to continue developing being repurposed as a method of murder by poisoning...

Real-world technology has advanced so much that the aging up we saw in an earlier movie now can be pulled off by AI. Artificial intelligence was actually very realistically portrayed in this movie, because aging up photographs of kids and getting a disturbingly close representation of what they might look like as adults based on data about bone structure and patterns it learned is spot-on and a real world concern?!

Absolutely loved Vermouth doing her best to help her Silver Bullet protect that girl.

I felt really bad for Conan when a man caught a falling Ran and Conan briefly lifted his arms and smiled ruefully... he knows he couldn't have caught her himself in this form, it's sad...

Lots of Conan and Haibara scenes to shiptease the AiCon fans too.

Nice throwback in Sherry's nightmare to her Street Corner of Betrayal Gin nightmare. "I've been dying to see you, Sherry..." they sadly did not interact much directly, but it's also understandable, given how much of their past relationship is shrouded in mystery. The writers likely don't want to contradict or misinterpret... it's still too tricky to get right.

False positives and AI's potential for error being signifcantly plot relevant was so clever and great.

Love the post-credit scenes tying it all together!

Haibara was so sweet, giving up her Fusae brooch, when we know how much she loves her brands. ;3;

I didn't figure out the culprit at all, but I smelled red herring all over the racist German dude Leonhardt. He was just too easy to hate, but lacked a real motivation for crime, he's just made to be easy to hate and easy to blame.

I am SO glad this movie did not decide to kill such a lovely original character as Naomi because Sherry deserves more friends, especially ones around her real age. ;__;

I considered not putting the Wolf here, but then an apparition of my childhood self materialized and stared at me with profound judgement. I like the Wolf because it’s one of the most straightforward characters in the series, and it’s involved in some of the best character moments as well. It drives SO MUCH of the plot without even being there, and when it does show up it’s so entertaining! Best quotes methinks

2. Sabrina

Sabrina is an EXCELLENT character stuck in a cyclic story with no actual acknowledgment of her true inner conflict. She’s fundamentally a good kid, but is put in TERRIBLE situations that constantly traumatize her while DEMANDING her best behavior, and she’s eleven years old. I care her!!! I really appreciate how a lot of us agree she is good even if she didn’t always act that way, and deserves better than what she got.

3. Baba Yaga

look what do you want from me. she’s cool. an icon, persay. I like characters that throw other characters off their rhythm and force them to acknowledge what they ACTUALLY prioritize and fear. She also has some great quotes, and I just think it’s funny how she trapped everyone in Ferryport Landing but is SO scary nobody gives her crap about it. we’re told it took THIRTY EVERAFTERS to kill her in the bad future. GIRLBOSS

4. Red

she’s so brave and I love how she was so warm towards Sabrina and the Grimms even tho it must have been a scary situation for her. She might have actually been MORE heroic than Sabrina in the last book because she INTENTIONALLY sacrificed herself to a dangerous magical entity, just to save someone she’d known for like… a few months. I wish she hadn’t had to do that, but things would have likely been way worse if she hadn’t. She’s good and sweet and also a really interesting character.

5. Mr. Canis

I have complicated feelings about him. He has these moments of kindness and insight, but a lot of the time it feels like he prioritizes the wrong things. As a kid i liked how he took responsibility for his anger and seemed to at least partly see Sabrina for who she really was (an intelligent but scared child trying to defend herself). I think his core of always stepping in to protect a child should have gotten more focus than his self-and-externally destructive side.
