Ohhh yeah I have a few. Thanks for your patience, I wanted to respond to this when I could sit and think and type everything out on my computer, not on my phone. Normal HCs at the top, spicy stuff below the cut.

Matt

Okay so I had this friend in highschool who was beyond disgusted by peanut butter, no allergy just totally hated the stuff. Like wouldn't kiss his girlfriend if she'd eaten it recently. I feel like Matt has an extreme food ick like this. Def not peanut butter but something like olive oil maybe? With his sensitive senses he gags when he even gets a whiff of whatever it is.

Speaking of peanut butter, I think it's a food staple of Matt's. The man can't take care of himself, so cooking full meals is just not a thing for him. So 2AM, back from patrol and he needs something to eat. Matt just eats PB straight out of the jar with a spoon like I did for meals in college.

Frank

Loves karaoke. Well, used to when he lived a more normal life. I don't think he sings amazingly well, but he doesn't care. He plays guitar obviously and Col. Shoonover mentioned his impressions skills, so that all concludes me to the fact the Frank likes to sing. He sings to himself/along with the radio when he's driving by himself between jobs. A lot of John Denver and Elton John.

For a holiday/birthday/anniversary gift one year he absolutely recorded Maria a CD of him playing and singing a few of her favorite songs. He'd probably do the same for you too if you were dating.

Bucky

Has a bit of a video game addiction. He was so fascinated by Stark tech at the fair, that I imagine he loves learning about everything that has come along since, but really got hooked on video games. I'm thinking your standard XBOX, Nintendo or Playstation games like the MLB/Baseball game and the Mario collection. Not big on first person shooter games like Call of Duty cause he's lived it obviously. But he can literally spend hours playing like FIFA or something. Absolutely gets on live to play with Sam, AJ, and Cass all the time.

Is really touchy during sex and also not during sex. Since the visual stimulation of sex obviously isn't there for him, he makes up for it by always having to be pressed against you fully or by having hands roaming and groping everywhere.

But also not during sex he's always grounding himself to you by being pressed as close to you as possible. Only time he isn't is when he's in a Matty Mood™ and feels like he doesn't deserve you or you deserve better or whatever Catholic guilt BS he tells himself. He gets over it eventually.

I feel like he likes really intimate sex but also is really playful during it as well. We saw a glimpse of this in She Hulk but I also think his just generally flirty demeanor hints at this. I'm talking like does things to make you giggle in the middle of sex.

Man also has a bit of a breeding kink. He's absolutely not ready to be a parent because his life is in shambles and as much as he loved his dad, he did not have good parental examples in his life, but regardless of his partner's gender or bodily anatomy, he likes the idea of filling you up, knocking you up and having that claim on you. I'm again blaming the Catholicism somehow.

Frank

The eye contact during sex!!!! Dude lost his whole family so anything good in his life he is afraid is going to slip away so he treasures it and takes it all in. We saw this during S2 with Beth but yeah, big guy just loves to watch every facial expression you make during sex.

He's also just really tender in bed. He's not big on kink stuff but will try it if you want but just wants to feel really connected during sex. He's mostly serious in bed but in a really beautiful and intimate way.

Bucky

I wrote a whole spiel about my Bucky bedroom hcs, but here's some more.

Of the three, I feel like Bucky is most playful and open to new things in bed. I don't think any of them are open to a full on Daddy kink, dom-sub kind of play but Bucky is the most likely to lean into elements and try things. After his time being under someone else's control I think he likes to feel a little in control, especially of his own body and sex life. But again, not fully into that type of dynamic. Like he might like to boss you around a little or call you dirty names in bed. Afterall, 1940s Bucky was a total flirt and very smooth with the ladies, so it stands to reason in bed he'd still bring some of that out.

am I enby? am I a butch/tomboy? am I a demigirl? am I only questioning my gender identity bc I live in a patriarchal society where femininity is demonized so I feel comfier in the default which is masculinity? h m m m . .

like I cringe when people call me "a good girl" or "ladylike" or whatever, but that's typically said by desi aunties n stuff, I know they don't mean to hurt me or anything and I do appreciate the sentiment bc they just want to acknowledge how hard I work . . . but it just messes with me, like it doesn't feel right being called that . . . I don't think i'd care much if people saw me as a boy or whatever, but I guess that'd be hard to do lol I look pretty fem (got pretty soft ish facial features ig)

i've never really felt comfortable wearing traditional desi outfits bc I feel like I look wrong . . . in a way. Like they feel tight around my chest (and that's emphasized too much imo, but compared to others I might not have much to hide :P) and I think I'd feel much more comfortable wearing masc stuff like a panjabi or something (but that doesn't have to be a gender thing, that could just be a comfort thing like shopping from the mens section in general)

i've never liked being seen as a stereotypical woman or being held to all these restricting molds that afab folks are forced into, like having kids and managing domestic roles n stuff . . . like is that all I am? a walking incubator? I'm more than that :\\ maybe I feel safer presenting as masc bc being fem comes with all these standards I feel suffocated by.

i don't mind she/her pronouns but I think I wanna try out they/them along with that, make a little pronoun salad yk? mix things up and experiment bc there's nothing wrong with that. And with fem clothes, I think some are fine, like i'll wear a tennis skirt now and again, but I think I might just have a general dislike for them bc my mom has picked out my clothes for me since I was little, and her perception of how her daughter should look doesn't match up with how her kid sees themselves. She grew up in a different culture, which isn't her fault. If I feel confident in fem clothes, it's because I picked it out and Ik i'll feel good in them because it's what I want for myself.

I don't completely hate my appearance, I don't mind menstruating and bras and whatnot (I think I feel pretty fucking badass in them lol, black lace for the win lets gooo). But sometimes I don't really like the curves of my legs?? like sometimes I wish I could de-emphasize my hips so I try to wear baggier pants n whatnot. Is that a dysphoria thing? Maybe? I don't really know . . . And I never liked how my voice sounds bc its too high n nasally (maybe too fem? but all that boils down to how I define femininity), I wish I sounded like a few of my guy friends :\\ wish I had my voice a little deeper like theirs, need some of their testosterone lmaooo (I don't think I'd go on hormones or whatever, just joking around over circumstances I can't control). Sometimes I get this urge to cut all my hair off bc it's hella long and I think a shorter/medium style would be affirming for me. I've gotten used to seeing myself in a certain light that I really want to change things up just to see how my confidence would improve.

tldr, I guess I just feel mostly like a girl? but also not quite? if i'm making sense. I just don't like how rigid gender norms are in western society and I don't completely feel like a boy or want to be a boy either. I'm pretty attracted to and would like to present more masculine (mostly regarding clothing, but also my crushes have been pretty masc/tomboyish) or androgynous in general.

in the end, how I view myself will def change between now and later, so I don't need to feel pressured by picking a label or feeling intimidated by using a term that feels "wrong". if I think it'll work for me now, I might as well stay with it unless something changes in the future. phases aren't necessarily a bad thing, it just means you're taking time to experiment and see what fits you best, you wanna understand yourself and there's no harm in that.

I'm a quiet girl who's been working a lot on confidence and finding myself. And it's been working, I'm going to the gym because it's fun and not because of unhealthy reasons, I'm taking my time thinking and observing life instead of being too busy to enjoy life, I'm communicating well with family and friends. I truly see the world in a positive manner, and I always want to spread kindness! But I also have a darkish humor, I love joking around saying 'thats what she said jokes' and teasing and just overall being rough and fun!

I always have off days though that get me sad and moody and bitchy. Which is why my main love language to calm me down would be physical touch. I love the way arms wrap around me and kisses i can give and nuzzles. It makes me feel so loved, especially when I'm extremely critical about myself. I'm a perfectionists and it really affects me when something doesn't really meet my standards. But I'm getting better at accepting that nothing is perfect and that I just gotta roll with it. Lots of kind self talk and yoga keep me grounded.

Music is a big part of my life, I love listening to it and playing it with my violin! Currently my favorite songs are Locked and Loaded by LAEL, Toki Doki by Takenobu, Oblivion by Halfy and Winks, Remembrance by Balmorhea and Bloom by Throttle (I would love you to death if you listened to them! Hehe)

I love to read but have a hard time prioritizing time to sit down and actually read. I'm currently reading the Throne of Glass series and it's so good!

I also loove food, I try new dishes and gobble anything down when I'm hungry. And I get them gains going to the gym, playing sports and running.

i don’t think james would have a problem with you being quieter. he’s a generally loud person, he can make up for anything you don’t put out. i think he’s a very intuitive person. he’d be able to tell when you were uncomfortable, and he could tell when you were beginning to settle in. he’d see all the work you’re putting in to trying to better yourself and gain confidence, and he’d be so proud of you. he’d try his best to help, working you into any social situations he’s in so you know he’s there with you. hed definitely be a good gym boyfriend to have. he’d make sure you were doing all that you could to stay healthy and not strain yourself, and he’d be such a hype man to give you motivation. he’s such a positive person, it would kinda bleed into you.

i do think there’s a darker side to him, not that that’s a bad thing. he’d find your sense of humor intriguing. he would love playful banter with you, you’d challenge him to keep up with you and always be on his toes. although he’s a positive person, i think he has days where he finds it really hard to be positive. he’s always such a light for everyone else, and so people forget that they need to check on him too. but you wouldn’t forget, and you’d always make sure he was feeling alright. and when you started growing into yourself and becoming more positive, it would start to effect him. he’s such a perfectionist. i know he doesn’t seem like one, since things look like they come so easily to him. but he constantly feels pressure on his shoulders, the weight of so much that he gets overwhelmed and doesn’t know how to manage it all. he could be having such a bad day, but seeing you and seeing how much progress you’ve made would just make his day so much better. i think he’s a very touchy person, ids definitely one of his main love languages, and he’d be a firm believer that there’s nothing a really good huh can’t fix.

james is definitely a foodie. he’s always so active, he gets hungry quite easily. i think good food would remind him of his moms cooking, and he’d always be down to go somewhere and eat. quality time is another one of his love languages, and any excuse to hang out with you is fine by him. expect many trips to hogsmeade to eat and get some sweets while you shop.

i don’t think james is a big reader. he’s always so busy, he’s got other ways to fill his time. but he’d definitely understand wanting to do something and not knowing how to properly manage his time. i think he’s got some undiagnosed adhd going on, and he’s just a little forgetful. but he’d know you’ve been meaning to get around to reading your book, and so he’d decide that spending quality time with you was just an opportunity to basically force you to read.

he’d be very content to lay down with you while you made, and maybe even ask you to read out loud to him so he could listen. i can see him getting really excited about a plot, especially if it’s fantasy.

“i think you can take it, love,” you’d chuckle, but you’d wrap your arms around him and cuddle close to him. “i’m kidding, if that wasn’t obvious. you know that right?”

you may tease each other all the time, but you’d never want him to feel like you actually meant anything you were saying. he’d laugh it off, and try his best to make sure you didn’t see that it hurt him, like he does with other people.

but he’d know you were kidding this time. he’d smile down at you, feeling his heart warm at you checking in on him like that.

thinking about how i talk a lot of shit about mediocre white men and just like a lot of aspects of patriarchy and sexism even me being like,,,,aware of it didn't entirely stop me from lowkey settling for mediocre white men not just once but twice??? like obvs colm and jake weren't like the most mediocre of mediocre white men and both had redeeming qualities and real value as people blah blah blah but like. remembering that time i was talking about 'oh jake was genuinely a really great guy' to christiana and olivia and they were like okay how and i was like 'he always asked me how my day was and listened to me talk about classes and my interests and was like interested in the things that i cared about and did lots of words of aff etc" and they were like ok and. so what. and while i was having a difficult time articulating exactly why jake was, in fact, a good guy, the truth of the matter is they're lowkey right?? looking at that now?? that's pretty bare fucking minimum ground for when you're dating someone. none of that's special shit that deserves to be particularly celebrated. it's not like he was BAD for doing that stuff! he was, in fact, quite often a good boyfriend because he did all the right dating type things! but does that mean he was a "great guy" as i'm pretty sure i described him?? NO! because he was a guy! who did the things you're supposed to do with people you're dating! and the bar is so far in fucking hell that i was like awesome a guy who listens to me and asks for consent. couldn't be better. and then i actually was like 'well it's not like i ever did much beyond that anyway so maybe i'm kind of a bad person'. NO! you also did exactly what you were supposed to do! the problem here is that it was exceptional behavior for jake as a straight white dude and standard or even subpar behavior for you as a woman!!!!!!! the problem here isn't that he was kind of boring in some aspects or that you only really started being seriously into him when he expressed interest, it's that he has the same exact fucking protective shield for doing basic shit that pretty much all white guys do. and maybe defending him was partially selfish, honestly, because why would i want to admit that i too, a raging adamant feminst, had settled for an average white guy because he liked me and i was available? so while that relationship obviously had merit and jake genuinely was a good person, i can def see now why christiana and olivia were unimpressed with all his supposed merit. and if i, someone who is very cognizantly aware of the mediocre white men phenomenon, was still all caught up in defending my EX as a great boyfriend and overlooked a lot of red flags while we were dating, it's lowkey way scarier for younger girls or girls who haven't had access to the same positive conversations and media and people that i have. i've been told i deserve better. what happens to girls who don't have that?

I always felt Eminem spoke for dudes like me, tbh. Yeah he beat his wife and says a lot of shitty things in his songs and that sucks. I won't try to combat anyome disliking him for this, both from my objective standpoints as an individual and as a male under capitalist patriarchy.

But hear me out.

Dude had a terrible childhood. He was railed against in school, from teachers, and from his own mother. He was so different from most kids in his circles that he had to hang with "outsiders" [RE: BLACK BOYS INSTEAD OF WHITE BOYS, CUS HE JUST LOVED RAP MUSIC AND FELT SO SCREWED TO SUCH AN INTENSE DEGREE], and when those people weren't around he mostly rode solo, enduring a bunch of abuse from his mother until he could make it far enough to roll on his own.

I feel for that. A lot of times I was the only black dude in a big group of white guys, cus I just loved Rock and Metal so much and I could always count on them to talk about it with. When my white boys weren't around, I mostly rode solo; if I wasn't hanging with them, I was rocking with black dudes who were just as into anime and rock / metal music as me. This is kinda just how autism works, which may be part of why I'm so confused by the "sexy autism" phase going on rn; for me, autism was a very tricky thing to navigate, and as often as it gained me friends, it also alienated a lot of people from me. To act differently is to lie about everything in my life, pretty much.

I'd never say Em is perfect; but like, I'm not either. No one really is. Em def coulda done better; I mean, he's a guy. But men are held to unrealistic standards under patriarchy too, and for the times he was doing the best with what he had. There are lots of girls I loved, who are now women that I respect and appreciate, but in retrospect I feel I could never get it together with and don't intend to ever speak to again, and just let em go as such. Most of the men in my life can say the same about women and girls they loved. Imo; Em was just speaking to the nasty parts of being male that most guys wanted to keep down or avoid entirely. I won't say he was right for all of it, but more often than not, there was a truth and patience to his words that I always recognized and empathized with. I don't think he's the greatest rapper ever, or whatever (those titles go to Prodigy and Bushwick Bill, imo), and icl being annoyed and skeeved by him winning awards over, fucking, Outkast, Lauryn Hill, Tribe, Dre, Wayne, etc, but I feel like I'd be a total moron to deny his wit and general role in the early 00s - early 2010s Rap scene. I agree with you though, I’d be pleased if they, without fanfare, just spliced it in during a sex montage. Where they’re just having fun and being happy — it’s very standard! I know they’d never have an extended scene in that position, but damn just briefly show Kate face down to let us know Anthony actually earned his rep as a rake (like that’s the bare minimum lmao).

How was Simon also this storied rake in S1 but apparently only did missionary? And he looked so blown away when Daphne got on top? Doing it doggy style IS the bare minimum of being a rake, lol. I hate so many rake books where the hero is supposed to be THE MOST RAKISH OF RAKES and is just like oh let me make tender love to you on a bed of roses my darling. Like. Do that. Sure. And I get that obviously most of these heroines are virgins and need to be... introduced to things. But lol, on a slightly different but consistent subject, I hated that trend of the heroine being like "oh what is this, is this your dick, should I kiss it tenderly" and the rake being like "OH GOD DON'T DO THAT NOW I'M GONNA COME RIGHT NOW IF YOU DO". Like. I get being overwhelmed by her. I love that. But let her work on it a little, dude.

I kinda disliked that they amped up Simon's rake-ness in the show--because Anthony is the real rake, for one thing, but also because it's kinda repetitive? I feel like you can have a hero be sexually experienced and good at sex without being a rake. A rake is the type of guy who will take a girl out back, finger her to orgasm, and then shake her dad's hand with a smile. (A great example of, imo, the classic romance novel rake is Ralston from Nine Rules To Break When Romancing A Rake.). Simon... isn't that. He's good in bed, he's experienced, but he's not that. Daphne may have provoked him to a Garden Moment, sure, but I think that was less rakishness and more specific attraction to Daphne.

There are so many subsets of romance heroes, and I think Simon was more of the Chilly Duke Who Must Learn To Love than the Rake. But anyway, I think the writers (and the character by extension) definitely toned the shenanigans down for the sake of emphasizing Daphne's virginity. Like, the degree of virgin that Daphne was in such a sexual setting is common in romance novels, but it was kind of new-ish for TV, and it was built up as this big part of s1's identity. Even though I really don't think you have to be having sex for long to start trying out more than missionary lol, I think they want to just hammer into everyone's heads how inexperienced she was. I don't even think Daphne knew the basic shape of a dick until she saw one on her wedding night. And yeah, I do think there could have been fetishism involved to an extent, with some ~tender white woman~ shit. Which is why they need to of course be very careful with how Kate's sexuality is portrayed this season. But I think you can portray Kate as more confident and more... interesting, in that sense, than Daphne--without it being fetishistic. It's a tightrope to walk, for sure, but I think it can be done.

Uhm, so, Fate notoriously swaps out like their whole creative team from work to work, so some of it is really good, and some is really bad, and some in the middle, because it’s made by very different people. The things I am most into are UBW, and Fate Go. Fate Go is a little gatcha phone game, that suffers from the fate of the whole fate franchise but as a single unit. They swap out writers from arc and event to arc and event, so sometimes you’re living and thriving, and sometimes you’re like *thousand yard glazed, pained stare* ‘why the fuck did I download this game?’ Very mixed bag. I enjoy it because I just kinda blow through any arc I don’t like and skim, and then go hella into the good ones, but it’s very much an individual matter of taste one. It’s very fun to collect spirits and get to know them though, and some of the arcs are fantastic. Also, they have made/are making some of the Fate Go arcs into shows, and I expect the ones that are of good game arcs are good? But I haven’t actually checked any out myself yet--I really need to watch E Pluribus Unum, because it was an easy top 3 arc for me in the game.

I’m big into Fate, but I actually have approximate knowledge of many things? And have not consumed as much media as you’d think. I tend to hear people really like Fate Zero, and very mixed reviews of Apocrypha, but I would wholeheartedly recommend the Fandom Classic(tm) and my personal fave as where to start, which is Unlimited Blade Works.

Sorry this is so long. Okay, so. Originally, Fate Stay/Night was a visual novel with three paths/routes: Fate, Unlimited Blade Works, and Heaven’s Feel. All of these are shows now. Unlimited Blade Works was made twice. Do not watch the early one; it’s bad. Watch the 2014 TV series--it’s on Netflix right now. Don’t watch the English dub--the VAs are...not great. 110% recommend watching it in Japanese/original dub, with subtitles. (This one)

My usual pitch is that if you’re a normal person, you’ll probably go “This was a little confusing, but I really got into it: 8.3/10″, and if you’re like me and you never really gave up on wanting to become a superhero and save the world some day, you’ll go: “It was fantastic, 18/10, but it also ripped out my soul and left me wounded but somehow in an okay way.” Either way very worth watching. Since it’s not the first route, there are some things they don’t explain about the world because they kind of assume the viewer will know, but that’s pretty minimal--it’s def coherent enough that the more confusing bits are more of a “Uh, okay. I think.” than a “W-What the fuck is going on?”

It’s really good. Two seasons, the most beautiful fighting in almost anything I’ve ever seen, phenomenal soundtrack, and one of the best show opens (Season 2′s) of any show I ever saw. All around a just big blanket rec from me. It’s a long-time fan favorite for a reason. It’s one of my fave shows ever :’-] It was. Very personal to me.

Uhhhh what else--okay so, on Netflix if you watch it there, and a lot of streaming sites, they list “Episode 0″ or “Prologue” as the first episode? This was originally bonus content, not the first episode. It’s basically the first episode from not the MC’s point of view, but a different major character. It’s got some really great character moments and insight into Rin and Archer, and it’s fun, but since it was originally bonus, the pacing is super weird? So I would recommend you start with actual episode 1/Winter Days, A Fateful Night instead? Unless you just want to. Like it won’t mess up the show, but it might give you a weird idea of what the pacing is. So you can watch it first if you want, or later whenever you’re curious about those two, just like, if you start on it, don’t get overwhelmed by the stuff they’re not explaining, or the weird pacing. It’s supposed to be bonus content haha.

Woof this is gonna be a long ask answer. Uhhhh, so Moriarty is from Fate Grand Order/Fate Go, the phone game. The game has three major arc sets so far: Grand Order, Epic of Remnant, and Cosmos in the Lostbelts. He’s from Epic of Remnant, and he’s universally beloved because he’s amazing. The MC in Fate Go is like 16, but he or she (you get to pick) is constantly having to risk their life and be hurt and traumatized and watch people die to save the world because there’s no one else to do it, and usually people are...not super nice to them. Moriarty shows up in the first of the second set of arcs and is like ‘Haha that’s a wholeass human child tho. Guys. Guys, a-are you sure about this?’ and he’s really there to pull of a massive evil culmination-of-my-life’s-entire-work-and-value scheme, but this kid is nice to him, and has nobody who looks out for them, and Evil Has Standards, so (Arc End Spoilers for that one ahead) he ends up giving up basically at the last minute. He had a plan that was totally working and could have won, but can’t really pull the trigger, because winning would mean this kid who has been nice to him and is already a massive pile of trauma and pressure and mental illness would die, and he cares more about them than his life’s goal. In Go usually boss fights are progressively harder, but his is super easy because he throws it, and chooses to lose, and basically throws away his life’s work for this one kid because nobody else is taking care of them, and lets himself get killed. This is a pattern with him. Other high points include later being 5 seconds into a scheme when Frankenstein (the girl one, who in fgo is like 14) stops him to call him Papa and asks for help, so he adopts her on the spot and just is her dad forever after that. He’s very goofy and I love him; he’s evil, but I’d trust him with my life, because he’s more good than he is evil, even though he’s both. Basically he’s just a very interesting and well written villain, but he’s also like, the /best/ dad in the game at the same time, and his dialogue is amazing. Evil Has Standards team dad poster man. He’s like the only adult in Fate Go who actually is responsible, which is fuckin wild. I’ll try to find some good screenshots of his dialogue. Anyway he’s incredible and I’m so happy you got him; Crime Papa is life.

I def agree with you on the whole "I'm not like other ships" arguments being exhausting, though, esp for ships that others want to label as problematic or toxic. Like for some standard evil guy/good girl stuff I can understand the appeal to a point but literally all ship preferences can be boiled down to just you preferring a specific dynamic that fits the mold for a trope, nothing more. Even I have some evil guy/good girl ships but I'm really not interested in engaging with anyone in arguments about it because 1) the narrative for these ships more or less handles them well and doesn't try to sugarcoat the issues with it at hand, and 2) I'm really not gaining anything from saying that people who oppose the ship are bland or boring. This is an approach I definitely wish other shippers of those types of ships would also use, along with the idea that the evil guy can just continue to be a villain and its actually not a bad thing for the narrative to address that.

I’ve had a pretty interesting journey when it comes to shipping, where I kind of went from passively shipping whatever is canon to having an experimental-ish shipping phase to where I am today, where I mostly ship «two messy but ultimately good people who understand each other in ways others don’t». I don’t really think any of my current ships fall under the «problematic»-category (at least that I know), but I don’t want to argue with or shit on people who do have those ships either. Shipping is often less about what you want yourself or others and more about what you find narratively interesting and compelling. And I definitely don’t want to argue in case I end up fighting with minors. (Not all but) a significant amount of people with «spicy» ships are not yet adults. I remember being a teenager who shipped couples I thought were fine only to grow up and realize that I’ve become completely turned off from them by how toxic I now view them to be. Shipping is a lot more fluid and complex than we sometimes think, and for me it is important to be respectful to everyone regardless of who they ship because I have no idea where they are coming from.

That being said I find this (and several other arguments) from people with «toxic» ships to just be so clearly in bad faith. As in there is zero interest in actually discussing and analyzing the ships. I get that many shippers have faced hostility and therefore double down, but I also don’t see the point in turning around and calling non-toxic ships and characters horrible and toxic just because someone pointed out that their fave is a villain for a reason. It’s okay to like a villain and still view them as a villain. It’s okay to hate a villain and still enjoy and respect their place in the story.

Will the «bland and boring» argument ever cease to exist? No. Do I actually think of certain ships as bland and boring myself? Yes. But I don’t share that because it’s an argument with zero legs to stand on. And at this point I’m wanting people to do better when it comes to fandom and shipping discussions.

I've seen a popular post on tumblr saying "I'm done with the female villain using seduction to get what she wants,and the male one using violence to the same end. I totally agreed with them,and my mind went to Drew Tanaka and Luke Castellan. Okay,Drew is a daughter of Aphrodite(goddess of beauty and love),and Luke's a terrific warrior.

Cont. However,that post fits their canon MO’s perfectly, IMO. In The Lost Hero,Drew used intimidation and fear to have people doing whatever she wanted,and was described as having cold,piercing eyes. Luke,while being a badass warrior and a big guy,his biggest assets are his looks and charisma. Silena is an example,and perhaps Kronos chose Luke as his second because he was well-liked. Even Drew being Aphrodite child makes a plus to me,since it makes her half-sister to Deimos and Phobos… ☆

drew, on the other hand, i can only half agree with. while i’m glad that rick didn’t go that “sexual” route with her just seducing people to get them to do her bidding, i don’t know that she’s entirely in the “girl threatens to throw someone off the side of the building” class either

for one, it is implied that drew has seduced ppl in order to break their hearts, which is fine. not like, morally fine, but in the sense that it’s okay to age-appropriately have drew “seduce” ppl for her own gains as a character in general. i’m kinda going for “let’s not slut-shame ppl” energy here, which is why i say age-appropriate and put seduce in quotes. so i hope that makes sense

for two, i wouldn’t necessarily be afraid of drew talking me into walking off a cliff or smth. lbr i can’t say how much i’d be affected by charmspeak in general, but we know that charmspeak works better when you’re attracted (or at least find the person aesthetically pleasing) to the person and when what they’re saying is smth they already believe. the magnitude of how well it works probably depends on how much they believe whatever the charmspeaker is telling them/trying to convince them of. with drew, it’s hard to tell her limits, following what we do know from piper, since ppl were scared of her. idk how hard she’s have to try if ppl feared her. it seems like it’d be harder? but that’s a tangent

for three, i also do think her being a child of aphrodite does automatically pull her toward “seduce enemy” territory. now, as you know from previous posts, i want to abolish the stereotype that love only means romantica/sexual love and beauty only means some arbitrary western standards of “““““beauty””””” but it is important to remember that stereotypes are automatic and prevalent responses to things, so it does communicate some of age-appropriate “seduction” on drew’s part

when i read, “girl threatens to throw someone off the side of a building,” i think of the scene in...i think it was the first avengers movie? when cap and black widow are on the roof of a building and the guy they’re--jk, it was the winter soldier, wasn’t it--threatening is like, “you’d never do it cap” and cap is like, “yeah, but she will” and black widow just fucking punts him right off the side of a building without a second thought

drew’s in a grey area between “seduce the villain” and “throw villain off the side of a building” bc she’s not using age-appropriate “seduction” most of the time, and it’s obvious she’s instilled quite a lot of fear in the campers at chb, so i’m not denying that

now am i saying that she has to be physically violent to fit “throw villain off the side of a building?” not at all. and you could def argue that her manipulation is violent in a sense that it’s abusive

but i wouldn’t say you can equate it to the outright violence that men often show in media (which has a lot to do with toxic masculinity, but again, tangent). so, she’s probably closer to “throw villain off the side of a building” but still in that grey area, not to mention her being a child of aphrodite and the stereotypes involved are also pulling her toward the “seduce villain” side

however, i do think if rick made her totally “throw villain off the side of a building,” even with just her charmspeak, we’d be straying into her being a true-true villain territory (she’s definitely an antagonist and not nice, at all in hoo; but like we’re talking the kind of monster that would goad someone into killing themselves). and while it’d be interesting to have a child of aphrodite, who’s a woman, be the antagonist and/or villain would have been dynamic and very interesting, there’s quite a lot to unpack and juggle with if we kept drew as drew and just put her into an antagonist and/or villain role (for example, her being japanese)

Honestly though, as much as I love this episode (and it might even become my favorite because of how crazy it is), I really thought we would be getting near the accusation.

And yeah, Alan x Katarina shippers are having their fill rn and I honestly didn't think much of the ship before this episode, I haven't read the LN but I do know spoiler stuff, the manga barely touched upon their dynamic outside of childhood, the recital, and maybe you could count Katarina in a coma. It's just a sweet relationship where neither knows how the other truly feels. It doesn't help that the most aggressive member of the harem is sabotaging his chances of realizing his romantic feelings for akatarina for about... 7 years? Also when you look at their character archetypes, its so easy to dismiss the ship as something that is unlikely to happen (which I still believe in). But going back to the more natural flow of their relationship, it sorta reminds me of Kae x Mutsumi-senpai from Kiss Him Not Me/Watashi ga Motete Dousunda. Well, the part that Mutsumi didn't realize his feeling until later on, like Alan over here but I don't think they're endgame. Still, this episode really made me ship them.

Katarina's desire was a let down to be honest. Considering the tone of the episode, I wasn't really surprised with the direction they went with, afterall she got hungry for sweets before entering the book, she wanted to eat the cookie Keith was going to feed her with, her stomach growling after Sophia asks wether she likes Sophia more than sweets. The build up was there but had she not been hungry at the time, I wonder what her desire would've looked like. Would she be thinking about living her life out as a normal farmer after exile? Would she be reminiscing about her previous life where she was still chatting with Acchan about otomes? How would Mary and Maria have reacted about her desire when they don't even know what she was experiencing or who it was with. Just that stuff was what I lowkey hoped for.

Also my god, yeah. I think the fandom (pre anime release) can mostly agree that we collectively like Geordo (not even love or have him as their fave. but he was a decent enough guy). But in the anime, I feel so bad for him and how he's shaping up to be the biggest loser of them all. Like put a big L on his forehead and that's what his romantic advances towards her are like. After Keith was introduced, any sort of one on one interaction with them is basically nonexistent. When he even kissed this girl on her neck during her coming of age party, she barely bat an eye. Despite him saying again and again that y'know she's his fiancée and he doesn't plan on letting go, she keeps trying so hard (to avoid her doom flag) to deny it. He's been patient with her even with him being so frustrated with everyone (except Katarina, bless her soul) trying to get in the way. AAANYWAYS, what I'm saying is he has basically 0 interactions with her that doesn't get crashed by either Keith or Mary (mostly the former). Despite being the 1st guy and the one who supposedly has the best chances, with how avoidant Katarina is (because she firmly believes that he's still that sadistic dark-hearted prince but slightly less sadistic) and how little interaction the two have together, it looks like he has the least probability of winning (if we're only counting the anime). Hell, Nicol might even have a better chance at this point compared to the fiancée. Also with the remaining episodes, squeezing in an episode or a scene that focuses on Katarina and Geordo is so unlikely that I get sad thinking about it. He deserves better dammit. He ain't just a horny hoe, he's one with standards that truly respects Katarina and would spoil her while simultaneously teasing her goddamnit.

Keith's scene was def the most uncomfortable one, no matter how much I love him as a character, that made me feel grossed out.

Sophia's scene was the most surprising one, yeah!

Also Nicol is just straight up Tuxedo Mask in his part that I couldn't help but laugh. Like how stupid is it that he escorts you to dance only to be chased out by some lovestruck girls and guys and then whisked away to a gondola ride. Followed by carrying you bridal style and jumping off of roofs and then jump shot euth the moon as your background. The ideas are there Nicol, the sweet romantic ideas are there hut the execution is way too funny. He needs to learn that its supposed to be done in moderation lol.

Maria's desire would've been something similar to episode 5 I suppose while Mary, I agree with the others saying how it probably woulsn't be safe to view. If Geordo took his sweet time, Mary would've just, in the words of Philip de France, jumo right into it.

I Became Engulfed by Desire...

This was a super cute episode and absolutely hilarious. Mary and Maria were the true MVPs of the episode. I loved that these two brilliant and accomplished ladies are absolute dumbasses when it comes to one specific dumbass.

Mary is just comedic gold. She is so goddamn funny and ridiculous. I love her so much.

I’m still laughing at this. Look at this desperate dork who just wants to be with her precious Lady Katarina. 

Maria was also pretty funny, but she was really more of the straight man to Mary being amazing.

Alan was also a great delight. His and Katarina’s scenes were very sweet and endearing and just made me smile. I mean really, how could anyone not smile or have their heart warmed by those two at the end.

It is just filler episode, so I will admit a part of me wants to gets back to the actual plot and get to certain scenes. As I am a bit worried that some of favorite scenes will not get the full-attention they deserve.

And I get a bit more concerned when I notice that there is still a sleepover and possible gardening shears extra to be explored in the anime. Based off these images.

While I absolutely love the extra Manga Ch. 17.5 (it’s an absolute delight and just so adorable), I am curious and nervous to see how they will do everything that they have to do in the remaining time they have left.

Though, perhaps the anime isn’t going to adapt the whole Ch. 17.5 plot, but take the essential core of it for a future scene. Similarly, to how the anime adapted Alan’s extra chapter in Vol. 5 (LN) to the last scene of this episode.

I have confidence in the anime, but I’m still a bit nervous.

Hmmm well personally I’m so light I get mistaken for Spanish a lot. In hs i was really into white guys (🤦🏽‍♀️) and they did not like black girls but I was very naive and very dumb so I would stick around to get treated bad. Sometimes when guys in college would find out my ethnicity they’d be more attracted because out there it was “exotic” so there was def some nasty ass fetishization. Dark skin guys def do that too. I can’t really speak to specific races, my friends come from all over, and they all struggle too 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’ve def been approached in nasty, completely outta pocket ways, and I’ve seen my darkskin friends get it worse. The few dates I’ve been on outside of a relationship were terrible because it seemed like the guys had already decided they were gonna smash, no matter if I said I didn’t or never hinted at it.
