people making fun of trans masc and men’s names always falls so flat, because they tend to be some of the most beautiful and classic male names that exist? liam, will, jack, finn, izzy, viktor, lucas, theo etc . and you know if we were instead en masse choosing names like apollo, achilles, hades, dionysus they’d find a reason to make us feel pathetic for it too. one can make anything look stupid if you try hard enough, and people try really hard when it comes to trans men and mascs and what we choose to do with our own autonomy.

i know it’s like years old at this point but i love that one collab mumbo and grian did with tommyinnit bc it’s like the single most concentrated example i’ve seen of mumbo’s Chaos Nullification Powers

you get to see a bit of it on hermitcraft, mostly via his interactions with grian, but until seeing that collab it didn’t really hit me just how completely mumbo can no-sell other people’s attempts to control a situation. tommyinnit is possibly the single shoutiest, most chaotic minecraft youtuber out there, and in most videos i’ve seen he pretty much overwhelms everyone else and sets the tone for interactions because of this. but mumbo just. doesn’t let him. no matter how much tommy escalates in intensity, mumbo reacts with *exactly* the same energy he always does. grian largely comes across in the whole video as annoyed and reluctant to engage with the whole thing, but mumbo’s not even affected. he just rolls with anything he finds funny and basically ignores anything he disapproves of, only seeming more and more unflappable the harder anyone tries to get a rise out of him.

AND imo, this is the key to my favorite interpretation of him as a character

see, when the people around him are being more reasonable/calm, i think mumbo often comes across as anxious and a bit easily overwhelmed. the thing is, his nervous wet cat vibes do not scale. he has one setting. his responses to the last life ‘ah-ha!’ jokes and to hermitcraft 8 starting to crumble to pieces under a falling moon are almost identical.

mumbo jumbo is inexorably and eternally Just Some Guy, but that gets stranger and stranger the weirder his surroundings become. the giggly incredulousness that makes him an easy target for goofy puns looks Very different when it’s also his reaction to the impending end of the world.

Something I really like is that April’s constant stream of odd jobs she goes through is somewhat reflected in the boys as well. Like, you have April working at random pizza places or getting a crane license or being fully willing to apply for a job at a place clearly made out of cardboard. Then you have the boys as well who do anything from working as a basketball mascot, building a massive dog park, being waiters, getting a whole band gig at a theme park, etc, etc-

Main difference is that April actively applies for these jobs (and is hopefully paid for the short time she’s in them) whereas for the bros the jobs usually find them (and they practically never get paid.) It doesn’t even stop at jobs either, they just seem to casually amass skills in general.

I don’t know, I like how both April and the turtles are just so ready and willing to do things. Sure, they’re not always good at these things, but they do them readily! In a way, being heroes is just another job (well, more like volunteer work/vigilantism/another fun activity) that they initially took on because of their general sense of “why not?”

They’re very willing and open to trying out new things despite their tendency to revert back to what they enjoy (and how commonly trying new things ends up going wrong), and I think that adaptational interest of theirs really helps them be well rounded in multiple regards.

Imagine saying Anidala shippers whitewash their love when you ship Ob*kin.

Posting a SS from the rots novel of Anakin having some dark or unhinged inner dialogue at a point where he’s already anxious and has a nasty evil voice in his head trying to convince him of what’s not true, where he’s slowly losing his shit and has a Sith Lord vigorously breathing down his neck, manipulating him into thinking said things that aren’t true, while encouraging him to give into his rage more and more each time he sees him, and the fact that he’s running on no sleep and no food, is having nightmarish visions of his wife dying as he runs from one corner to the next trying to figure out how he’s going to save her and you still insist on saying that THAT’S how he truly is on the inside is insane work. It’s almost like you can’t find anything else to prove that Anidala isn’t a pure love apart from the times where Anakin is seeping more into the dark side to show just how bad they are for each other. Funnily enough, there isn’t any points where Anakin behaves in such ways prior to the brink of his breaking sanity because he’s not actually like that to his core and that’s why you can’t scoop up anything bad to say about them, so you do what every other anti/proshipper does and resort to using his worst moments (which don’t define who he is) against him 🤷🏾‍♀️

Another perfect example of a pure and true love that exists in the Star Wars universe is Quinlan Vos and Asajj Ventress. There was a point in the novel “Dark Disciple” where Quinlan falls to the darkside and succumbed to its will, which leads a moment where even Quinlan who had fallen extremely and madly in love with Ventress had the urge to murder her and actually choked her out. But none of that is meant to indicate that he doesn’t love her or that they’re not good for one another. Why? Because that’s the affect of the darkside. It makes one behave in ways that don’t reflect the person’s true intentions and core beliefs. Once Quinlan came back from the dark side he reaffirms his love for Ventress and regrets everything he did while he was under the influence of the darkside. One would assume that this same logic should be applied to Anakin as well but I guess that would require actually acknowledging that Anakin & Padmé are made for each other and belong together, and that Anakin isn’t actually insane or unhinged deep inside like they think, which is a big no no for a lot of haters.

And just FYI, Anakin and Padmé ARE a happy couple whom are very madly in love, Lucas the Maker himself refers to their love as pure and the tragedy is that they’re torn apart because an evil Sith Lord got his clutches on Anakin.
