*gif isn’t mine*
Tumblr media
Babysitting was supposed to be easy. You loved babysitting. You did lots in your youth. You worked very well with kids. Well, at least that’s what you thought before your sister dropped her kids off.
“Lacey needs to be in bed by 7, otherwise she just won’t sleep the rest of the night. The only thing Noah will eat are chicken tenders. You have those right? Try to get him to eat some carrots, too, okay? Thanks,” Your sister, Monica, said.
She handed you a duffle bag full of baby supplies and games for Noah.
“Oh, and Noah likes to watch Paw Patrol, but if you want him to calm down, put on Aladdin or The Little Mermaid. He likes the monkey and Ariel. Oh! And-”
“I got it, Mon. I used to babysit when we were younger, remember?” You said.
“Right, right. Okay, well if you need to know anything else there’s a little folder Dan and I put together.”
“Noted. I doubt I’ll need it, though,” you chuckled.
“You probably will,” Monica laughed breathily. She then bent down to Noah.”Be good for Aunt Y/n, okay, my loves? Mommy and Daddy will be back in the morning.” She got back up and kissed Lacey on the cheek, causing the baby to babble.
“Bye, Mommy!” Noah exclaimed.
“Bye, honey!” Monica waved. She then left, picking up her dress and heading over to her car.
“Have fun!” You shouted as the drove away. You then shut the door and smiled at the baby in your arm and the 5 year old on the ground.
“Hey, so what do you guys wanna do?” You asked.
Noah looked around, spotting your cat. “Kitty!” He shouted, running full speed to the cat.
“Oh, Noah, please don’t! Hazel doesn’t like it when people run at her!” You exclaimed, running over to him with Lacey still in your arms.
You saw Hazel jump to the ground and run upstairs. Noah pouted and looked to you.
“Kitty didn’t wanna play,” he said. “Well, cats generally don’t like to play with people they don’t know, Noah. Why don’t we watch some TV and play with some of your toys. Kitty might come out if we are calm,” you smiled at him.
“No! I want Kitty now!” Noah screamed, running up stairs.
“Noah!” You shouted. You went to run after him, but Lacey giggled in your arms, reminding you that you had another kid to look after.
“Alright uh, why don’t we put you in your playpen, okay?” You suggested.
Lacey babbled again in reply.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” you smiled.
You carried her to your living room where Dan, Monica’s husband, had set up the playpen. You set Lacey in, setting in a few toys. You then turned on a baby monitor, setting it right beside the playpen. You took another monitor and clipped it to your pants so you were able to hear Lacey at all times. You then started to go upstairs, hoping that Hazel didn’t attack Noah.
“Hazel? Noah?” You called out.
“Are those your other partners, darling? I don’t think I agreed to an open relationship with you,” a sexy, Australian voice sounded from behind you.
You stopped in your track, holding the railing as you turned around.
“Kol?! What are you doing here?” You asked, a big smile on your face.
“Well, I was taking a stroll around the neighbourhood and couldn’t help but be curious as to why there were two children being thrown into your house,” he explained with a smile.
You chuckled and climbed back down the stairs, walking over to him. “They’re my sister’s. That one is Lacey,” you said, pointing to the baby in the playpen.
“Oh, my. She is adorable!” Kol exclaimed, walking over to the baby.
“Yeah, she is,” you nodded. “I uh, I have to go and check on Noah. He’s my sister’s 5 year-old. He was chasing Hazel.”
“Want me to help?” Kol asked.
“No, it’s okay. I got this. I’m great with kids,” you reassured.
“Oh, I bet,” Kol smirked. “What?” You asked, crossing your arms around your chest.
“Nothing, nothing. Now go, I’ll stay with Lacey,” Kol smiled.
“Alright,” you sighed, turning around on your heel.
You ran up the stairs, going straight to your bedroom, knowing that that’s where Hazel liked to hide. You busted through the door, groaning as you saw Noah on his stomach, reaching under your bed.
“Hey, Noah, leave Hazel alone, okay?” You asked.
“I want to see see Kitty!” Noah exclaimed. “Well, Kitty needs to some to adjust you,” you explained.
“Why?” Noah asked. “Because cats are shy and reserved, unlike dogs who like people,” you answered.
“C’mon, why don’t we go and get you a snack,” you suggested, getting on your knees.
“I’m not hungry,” Noah grumbled. “Then how about we watch a movie? Your mom told me you like Aladdin and The Little Mermaid, right?”
“Yeah, but I wanna play with Kitty,” Noah said.
You rolled your eyes, your irritation building. “You have to let her come to you okay. I know it’s a little annoying, but that’s just how cats are.”
“Noah, why don’t we go and play with your trains,” Kol said from your doorway.
Your head snapped up to him, glaring. “I told you I got this.” “Yeah, it sure sounds like it, darling,” Kol chuckled. He got down next to you, smiling at Noah.
“Who are you?” Noah asked, looking at him.
“I am Kol. Y/n’s boyfriend. I didn’t realise she was watching you and your sister today,” Kol smiled.
“Yeah, she’s my Aunt,” Noah said. “I know, she told me. So, what is the problem you are having here?” Kol asked.
“I want to pet Kitty, but she’s hiding,” Noah pouted.
“Ah, well cats are pus-”
“Kol!” You slapped his arm. Kol rolled his eyes, “Cats are annoying. I prefer dogs, myself. Why don’t we just bring your toys up here and wait until the cat comes out?”
“Okay!” Noah smiled. He got up to get his toys from downstairs.
You scoffed, “Why does he listen to you and not me?”
“Because boys listen to other boys. Unless it’s their mother,” Kol explained.
“Wow, so even 5 year-olds are sexist?” You asked jokingly. “No, not like that,” Kol rolled his eyes.
“Mhm,” you hummed. “Well let me get Lacey since we are staying up here.”
“No, no. Why don’t I deal with Noah, you go and watch Lacey,” Kol said.
“Hm, alright. You have fun in your little boy’s club,” you smirked, getting up.
“Will do,” Kol smiled at you. He got up with you, putting his hand on your waist and pulling you in.
“Kol, no,” you giggled. “Just one kiss, love,” Kol said, looking deeply into your eyes.
You sighed, knowing you wouldn’t be able to resist him. You put your arms around his neck, leaning up to press your lips against his. You melted into him immediately, kissing him chastely. You pulled away after a few moments, hearing Noah’s footsteps approach your room.
“Have fun, gorgeous,” Kol winked at you. “Will do,” you chuckled.
You went downstairs, going over to Lacey who was standing up in her playpen.
“Wow, you’re stronger than I thought,” you chuckled. You went to the duffle bag, pulling out the folder Dan and her made. You went to Lacey’s feeding schedule and looked at the clock.
“Looks like it’s time for dinner,” you smiled.
You got out the bottle of breast milk that Monica had packed and heated it up, going back over to Lacey. You set the bottle on the coffee table, grabbing Lacey out of her playpen and laying her down in your arms. You then grabbed the bottle and attempted the feed her, but she kept resisting.
“C’mon, Lacey. I know you’re hungry,” you said. “I know I’m not your mom, so it’s a little weird, but you can trust me.”
Lacey looked up at you, smiling and giggling. Her little hands reached out for the bottle. You breathed out in relief.
“That’s it, good girl, Lacey,” you cooed as you put the bottle gently in her mouth.
She drank for a good few moments before she pulled away.
“All done?” You asked as if she could answer. You set the bottle down, lifting Lacey up gently.
“Okay, do you wanna be burped?” You asked again.
Lacey looked up a you, a mischievous grin on her lips.
“What is that looks for?” You giggled, lifting her up to your shoulder.
As you were would to get a cloth, Lacey then spit up on your shoulder and in your hair.
“Oh, shi-sugar!” You exclaimed. “I must have fed you too much, I’m sorry,” you apologised to the squealing baby.
You set Lacey down in her playpen, going over to your kitchen to get a washcloth. You came back to the living room to find Kol with Noah in his arms.
“I heard you shout, you okay?” Kol asked. “Yeah, I’m fine. I just got spit up on, though,” you groaned, gesturing to your hair that was now sticky due to your sister’s breast milk.
“Yikes. You must have fed her too much,” Kol said.
“Well obviously,” you rolled your eyes. “It’s been a while since I’ve taken care of a baby, you know?”
Kol chuckled, “Are you sure you’re prepared for this?”
“Yes. I am CPR and First Aid certification. I have the Pediatrician’s number. I took 10 baby-sitting classes when I was 16 so I was able to do baby-sitting as a business, so I’m pretty prepared. It’s just some kids are more difficult than other’s,” you shrugged.
“Wow, I never knew you did all that to be able to watch children,” Kol said, genuinely surprised.
“Yeah, well, if a kid dies on your hands, you can go to jail,” you sighed.
“Americans are so weird. Back in the day, if a child died while you were taking care of them, it probably means they were weak and didn't deserve to live,” Kol remarked.
“Don’t say that in front of the kids!” You scolded. “And yeah, that was in like, ancient times. I’m glad it’s changed.”
“Are you calling me ancient?” Kol asked. “Hm… yeah,” you smirked.
“How rude. I know why these kids don’t like you, then,” Kol teased.
“Who’s the rude one now?” You challenged, going to your laundry room to put the washcloth in the dirty basket.
You came back to Kol and Noah sitting on the couch with Lacey on Kol’s lap.
“I think you have competition, babe,” Kol laughed. “Well, she’s cuter than me, so I’ll let it pass,” you laughed, sitting down with him.
“Can we watch little mermaid?” Noah asked.
“Yeah, of course, buddy,” you nodded. You turned on the TV, going to Disney+ and starting the movie.
“Did you guys get to see Hazel?” You asked.
“No,” Noah shook his head sadly. “Aw, well, I’m sure she’ll come out now that we’ve given her space,” you reassured.
“Yay!” Noah exclaimed.  You couldn’t help but smile at his enthusiasm. You watched half of the movie before you started to feel tired. You had your head on Kol’s shoulder and your arm locked with his. Kol had one of his hands on your knee, his other on Lacey’s back and supporting her as she was sleeping on Kol’s chest.
As you felt yourself start to doze off, Noah then started to talk.
“I’m hungry,” he whined.  You yawned and sat up. “Do you want chicken fingers? I’ll fix some for you.”
“Yeah!” Noah smiled at you and nodded.
You went to get up, but Kol’s hand on your thigh brought you back down.
“What are you doing?” You looked to him. “Let me do it. You’ve been running around trying to take care of these children,” Kol said.
You rolled your eyes. “I’m fine. And I’ve barely done anything.”
“Yes, you have. And I can tell you were about to fall asleep before Noah announced his hunger. Let me do this,” Kol insisted.
“Ugh, fine. What about Lacey?” You asked, gesturing to the sleeping baby.
“You can have her,” he said, picking her up and setting her on your lap.
“Alright,” you sighed, taking Lacey into your arms.
“I’ll be back,” Kol said. You smiled up at him and nodded, turning your attention back to the movie.
Not even a minute later, Lacey started to cry.
“Oh, no. Lacey, what’s wrong?” You asked.
As she wailed, she pointed to Kol, who was placing fries on a baking pan.
“Oh, you gotta be kidding me,” you muttered. “I’ll be back, Noah.”
Noah nodded, his eyes focused on the movie. You got up, taking Lacey with you.
“What’s up?” Kol asked as he set the pan in the oven.
“You seriously didn’t hear her crying,” you gestured to the sniffling baby.
“I did, I just thought Noah did something,” Kol shrugged.
“Hm, nope. She wants you,” you said. Kol shut the oven with a smile.
“Really? I feel so honoured.”
“Yeah, yeah. Just take the baby. I feel bad enough she spit on me. I don't want her to keep crying because she doesn’t want me to hold her,” you frowned, holding Lacey up.
“Maybe she needs her diaper changed,” Kol suggested.
“No, I changed her diaper in the beginning of the movie, remember?” You said.
“Yes, but babies poop and pee all the time. Let’s check,” he said and held up Lacey to his nose.
“Oh, yeah, she needs to be changed,” Kol cringed, handing her to you.
“What! Why me?” You asked. “Well, because she obviously wasn’t crying because of you,” Kol said.
“She’s gonna pee on me. I know it,” you said, taking the baby back.
“That’d be funny,” Kol chuckled.
You glared at him, making him apologise.
“Sorry. Fine, I’ll stand there with you. I’ve never changed a baby’s diaper, anyways,” Kol said.
“Yeah, and you probably never will,” you sighed. Kol frowned, “Well, you never know. We can always adopt.”
You smiled, “Yeah, true.”
You two went to the living room, grabbing the duffle bag and going to the bathroom. You cleaned up Lacey successfully, Kol clapping.
“Wow, I would never be able to do that,” Kol said.
“Next time I’ll give you a chance,” you smirked, lifting Lacey back up.
“Alright, let's go back and relax,” you said. Kol nodded and walked with you to the living room.
You were pleasantly surprised to see Hazel there next to Noah.
“I see you’ve got the Kitty,” you smiled.
“Yeah! She likes me,” Noah giggled. “I bet she does,” you nodded.  “Kol, can we play with the trains?” Noah asked.
“Yeah, of course, buddy,” Kol smiled. You went to the couch with Lacey, Lacey sitting up and babbling while pointing to Kol.
“I think someone wants you, babe,” you chucked.
Kol got up and took Lacey, setting her down on the floor in-between his legs.
“Need any help?” You asked laying down on the couch.
“Nope,” Kol said. “Okay,” you sighed, closing your eyes.
And before you knew it, you were fast asleep. Kol smiled fondly at you, getting up quickly and placing a blanket over you. He then grabbed all the pillows and another blanket, creating a little play space for Lacey.
“Alright, you sit right there and if you fall, the pillows will be there to support you,” he said.
He then started to play with Noah.
“How long?” Noah asked. “How long what?” Kol asked.
Noah pointed to you and then back at him.
Kol chuckled. “Oh, I see. Well, we’ve known each other as friends for 2 years. I asked her ask out 2 years ago and we’ve been dating ever since.”
“Do you love her?” Noah asked, looking up at Kol with big, innocent eyes.
Kol chuckled, staring at you as he spoke. “Yeah, I love her. I love her a lot.”
Noah giggled. “My daddy says ‘i love you’ to us and my mommy every night.”
“He’s a good man,” Kol said. Noah nodded, going back to playing with his trains.
You woke up 2 hours later to faint singing and a dark room.
“Kol?” You called out once you got more awake. You looked around the room, starting to panic once you realised Noah and Lacey weren’t in the room.
“Noah? Lacey?” You called out. As you started to get up, Kol walked into the room.
“Kol? Where are the kids? I-I accidentally fell asleep,” you breathed out.
Kol gave you a smile and walked over to you, wrapping his arms around you.
“The children are fine, darling. They’re both sleeping,” he explained, pressing a soft kiss to your head.
“Oh,” you chuckled. You looked up at him with a thankful smile. “Thank you so much for helping today. I’m afraid my baby sitting skills are a little rusty.”
Kol shrugged with a smile, “No worries. I like helping you and spending time with you. Plus, I have discovered I’m actually good at taking care of children.”
“You are. Who would’ve known under all that murder-vampire-ness, you would have a soft spot for kids,” you smiled.
“I also have a soft spot for you,” Kol said, setting his hands on your hips and leaning in.
“Oh, is that so?” You smirked, entangling your fingers in his hair,
“Mhm,” Kol hummed, pressing his lips to your’s.

hi!! can i request a drabble of new personaltrainer!jungkook training a pretty awkward (and kinda chubby/thicc..?) y/n and its super fluffy and aaaa,, i love your writing aaaa 🥺
cloud nine
Tumblr media
pairing: jungkook x y/n
wordcount: 3k
glimpse: y/n finally gives into jimin the gymbro’s thoughtful push, and jungkook is sO close to barking back to his chihuahua the moment he gets home :D // gif isn’t mine but look at it it’s so cRISPY!!!
notes: thank you sO much babie!! here you go :D
okay that’s iT!!
you totally need something new in your life
you need a change of pace or whatever that’s called
all the days you’ve been having are all blurring into the same one and it just makes you feel so stagnant
the only difference you could point out are the sleep shirts you wear and that’s ONLY if you don’t try to repeat wearing them
you now have a list of people you’re in awe of
people who genuinely and unironically consider friends the tv show as a cinematic masterpiece because nOAH FENCE how do they manage to get entertained by laugh tracks and the same skit over and over again
ok maybe your slander towards it increased because hoseok (the guy you have a sorta crush on) likes it and he leaves you on read and sometimes doesn’t even open your message and thEN you’d see his instagram stories and they’re all just???? friends???? what was the reason
and second, jimin!
jimin’s your best friend and that just makes you awed even more because you don’t even know how the two of you got close
jk it was when your friends forced you to come with them at this inflatable water park and you were sCARED and so he held your lifevest and was like
“hEY do you wanna take this in the same pace that i’m doing it?? tbh i just wanna get back to my mimosas but my friends paid too expensively for this”
<3 he has been the guardian of your heart since <3
jimin’s just so well-paced and organized and knows how to have his fun that his daily life doesn’t seem like a mindless routine
you are actively YEARNING for that kind of lifestyle
and right now it just seems like the stars are aligning for you and are practically made for your existence alone!!
jimin’s a gymbro
he is the living breathing talking definition of gymbro and gymrat and gymgod or whatever it is
.....
.......
.... gymin if u will ....
okAy then
but he wasn’t the aggressive type of gymbro, not at all!
he’s a total natural!!
like he’s ripped but not excessively and exaggeratedly ripped
he doesn’t flex but the muscle definition and the physique are just wHew exquisite!!
he doesn’t talk in protein powder lingo but you aren’t surprised to see a giant jug of it inside his cupboard!!! after all he’s proud to say that it’s practically all-skill!!!
and to top it off.,.,
:D
okay so jimin takes off his shirt right
the two of you are neighbors and you often come into each other’s places and it feels like home too
and you aren’t complaining!! you know that he runs a little hot that normal and you wouldn’t want him overheating
but he has this large tattoo on his rib that reads nevermind and it’s so cOOL and it just makes the gears in your head go creak creak because aha your best friend is the blueprint huh
you’re not surprised!! you really aren’t!!
after all, why would you be surprised out of all the things above when you already know that he owns a goddamn GYM??
the only regret that you have is not meeting him sooner :((
yeah sure pjm athletics does have a nice ring to it bUT WHAT ABOUT PARK’S GYMIN
you’ve always been.,., a lil curious ok
i mean your goddamn friend is the ownEr of a really well-known and well-praised gym!! how could you not??
you don’t wanna mooch off from him though no matter how much he offers you free classes and stuff
he always brings you home extra merch and energy drinks that you’re sure you can now have a tap for gatorade
he’s not dENSE!! he sees how you look at him whenever he does push-ups on your floor or when he does planks like no big deal
there’s this thought at the back of your head that y’know..,., what if THIS was the thing that’s gonna be your change of pace
lmao you’re looking for hardship basically
jimin’s finally had it when you sigh for the eleventh time while he’s doing pull-ups
you want to spend your own money and he knows you won’t accept any of his offers!!
that’s it he needs to be smart about this!!!
“woah jimin holy sHIT you’re having a 50% off your membership??? and it comes with a trainer too??? are you serious right now???”
:)))
he can now sleep in peace knowing his editing job for this flyer has paid off and he’s passed the “y/n’s not believing me” stage :))
if it wasn’t established enough there really isn’t a sale lol
here you are then,.,.
wearing workout leggings that jimin deemed to be reAlly great and it made quite a hefty dent in your wallet but you trust his judgement so ok
you’re not in the mood to wear anything besides jimin’s black dri-fit shirt because you really don’t wanna attract attention as the newbie
this is good!! you now have a gym membership AND a personal trainer!!
you dON’T exactly need them but you feel you just do y’know!! there’s no harm in trying :D
you didn’t want jimin to be your personal trainer and he basically sULKED for a whole week
it’s not a him problem!! it’s a you problem!!!
you know that it’s a given that the trainers shOuld be excellently to a degree to actually train someone else
but it’s now dawning in you that HE’S the owner and he’s so intimidatingly good!!! you would look like a raw egg that’s just dumped haphazardly into a pot and he’s the perfectly-boiled egg :((
oh my god
jungkook feels like he’s gonna throw up with how nervous he is
it’s his first day as a personal trainer!! :D
he’s half-excited and half-terrified because holy shit fIRST of all this gym was hard to apply to in the first place
everyone’s flocking it because:
a) it’s really great
b) even greater benefits for the employees
c) the pay is hUGE
d) the equipment?? the morals?? the testimonials?? the owner?? the whole thing??? FANTASTIC
and second omg jungkook won’t admit it to anyone but uHm he’s kinda scared ok
he’s not the type of person that’s comfortable with ordering people around??? even if that’s technically his job???
like what if his first-ever client is a guy like jason momoa and that guy’s a fucking UNIT for sure
imagine hIM telling jASON MOMOA to give him three sets x twenty reps of push-ups
g-gulp
“or i can do it for you, i-if you want?”
he’s bouncing nervously on the balls of his feet and swinging his arms around forward and backward to make them clap quietly
“there, you’re all set!! i already filled up all the forms for you the moment i gave you the flyer!!”
“but-“
“your trainer’s... not me. but he’s uh, what’s his name again, jungkook!! what does he look like again — oh right!! i remember!!”
“jimin-“
“he should be the guy with the big doe eyes!! has a lot of dangly earrings!! if he’s not wearing a sweater then he should be the one who has some tattoos!!”
“no jimin-“
“off you go!! i’ll be bouncing around but i’ll keep an eye on you, don’t worry!! okay now go and i’ll let you have a sip of my gatorade even if we have the same drink :D”
.....
whew
there goes nothing then
you’re about to keep your duffel bag close as a reason to stall to getting to the locker room but jimin’s already one step ahead and snatched it from you
you didn’t even get your towel :((
it had a little blue cloud embroidered at the middle of it and it’s your Emotional Support Towel by default
you’re kinda nervous since there’s some pairs of eyes on you because after all they just saw you have the most carefree conversation with the owner they’re a lil scared to talk to
you’re wringing your hands together as you try to spot this jungkook with jimin’s descriptions and-
oh
oH
O H
jungkook looks so ????
wow?????
he’s gorgeous like that is nOt up for debate
he looks so fresh?? effortless?? handsome???
jungkook looks like he smells like baby powder and freshly-washed sheets
the baby powder that you’re tempted to snORt because it smells so good which was the one you’d put on your chest bc boob sweat and to prevent ur thighs chafing
he had to do a double-take on you because the first time he glanced at this walking person he immediately shut down
like when something looks sO pretty that you have to look away for a second because you literally can’t take it
oR like when you have this favorite scene of a movie and you have to physically pause it before rewinding and doing that for another six times
“are you perhaps jungkook?? because i’m not surE and-...”
“jungkook i am. i-i aM jeon jungkook!! yes, right, jungkook!!!!!”
holy fuck he’s stopped working
your mouth’s a little parted because you didn’t expect him to go on that lil spiel cLEARLY but omg he’s adorable!!!
if he could punch himself he really would
it’s taking him a second to regroup but you take the initiative to introduce yourself :D
“i’m y/n! you’re my trainer from what they told me :))”
you’re a lil more awkward when it comes to social interactions like these but it looks like you’re acing it when put in front of jungkook
the both of you shake hands and then immediately put it behind your back because wow u just shook the pretty boy’s hand AND it’s not even 8 in the morning yet!!
you haven’t even started the workout portion yet but ur already on fire
( jimin’s looking at the security footage and even HE’S blushing from the secondhand embarrassment jungkook’s brough oh my god )
(( jimin suddenly wishes he could unlearn reading people’s lips ))
“so, what brought you here?”
it’s jungkook who asks but he alsO wants to answer himself to say it’s fate aha :D
he’s getting you to stretches and he’s doing them with you!!
“to be honest?? well there was like a fIFTY percent discount but you already know all of that”
wait
what now
“a sale? what-...”
there’s an abrupt noise that goes through the whole gym and it makes the both of you flinch and you even yelP
if you see jimin lifting a 100lbs barbell only to throw it down and cut off jungkook from speaking THEN MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS
“you okay?”
jungkook asks you quietly and taps your shoulder and you’re about to faint right then and there of how you met like then minutes ago and he’s cONCERNED
the focus on today was flexibility plus easing you into working out!!!
stretches are the next best thing to working out and it’s a win-win combo bc you’re flexible aND you’re basically exerting effort = kind of a workout apparently
the bit of reaching your toes then doing a downward dog and the upward-facing dog right after to hear that satisfying grunt of your joints is a LITTLE awkward because jungkook’s looking at you
jungkook wants to look away but in the same time he can’t will himself to
one because he’s a young wide-eyed attracted man and twO he’s the trainer omg he needs to look at you!!!
“o-okay! just a set of jack jum — jUMPING JACKS!!! jumping jacks and we could start :)))”
no one told you.,.,.
no one told you where you should look when you’re doing jumping jacks
you can’t look downwards because that’ll throw you off and you can’t look up either because why?? what??? WHO are you seeking up there????
looking straight ahead is kinda awkward
the safe answer was everywhere at once according to you
you sneak a look at jungkook and you almost choke in your own spit with how handsome he still looks
you’re not gonna cope up with that fact probably ever
jungkook’s feeling a lil sweaty now because uHm he shouldn’t really be doing this with you technically
it’s usually a trainer doing it with you for like the first five reps and then letting you do it alone for the rest
but nO he’s doing this with you he doesn’t mind :D
he could feel a bead of sweat by his sideburns and he’s screaming internally to gO the fuck back where it came from
he wants to tear off his hoodie but he doesn’t know if he should since he doesn’t have a shirt underneath!!!
being shirtless to the gym isn’t new but you’re with him and nOW he feels nervous
honestly jungkook would rather overheat than to make you feel uncomfortable
news flash: you want to curl up into a ball and cry about thinking how you’d be sore the next day
you r about to give out and tear up a little bit because fuck this is nOT an introductory workout
you also don’t want to look like a wimp in front of jungkook because that is not a good look for your pride and you’d feel embarrassed for eternity
just two more to go!!
honestly fUCK fire hydrants!!! 𝕨𝕙𝕠 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕗𝕦𝕔𝕜 𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦?? 𝕨𝕙𝕠 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕗𝕦𝕔𝕜 𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦?? 𝕨𝕙𝕠 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕚𝕊?? 𝕨𝕙𝕠 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕓𝕖???? 𝕚 𝕕𝕠𝕟’𝕥 𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕟 𝕜𝕟𝕠𝕨 𝕪𝕠 𝕒𝕊𝕊!!!
you raise your head because you’re getting dizzy looking down
jungkook’s looking at you and he sees you looking at him and it dOESN’T help the way you look right now
with you sweaty and grumbling under your breath and ur baby hair all over the place and ur eyes unfocused and fix at the same time a-and ur lips parted and-
JESUS LINE UP AT THE DMV RIGHT NOW TAKE THE WHEEL
jungkook’s so nervous and flustered that his limp actually trembles with how hot his cheeks are and he’s rambling out of nowhere
“fire hydrants amirite??? most certainly inspired by dogs and stuff because cooky, my chihuahua, does exactly that when he pees and-...”
THERE’S THAT LOUD BARBELL CLANGING AGAIN
oh my god he should not have said that
jungkook’s beyond mortified wHY DID HE SAY THAT
you look speechless and you aRE
you’re just nodding at him with a tight-lipped smile and if he knows better that’s because you’re so spent and a little light-headed and less off from his nervous rambling
planks,,, just planks,,, the final bit of it all
you don’t wanna get dizzy at the last stretch so you’re trying your best to not pay attention to the blood rushing to ur head
jungkook’s so distracted with his thoughts that he wordlessly adjusts you
lifts up your core while adjusting your feet closer before pressing his hand to your back and-
aHA FUCK
you now feel like you can run a marathon right after that
jungkook now feels like he can compete in a twenty-hour triathlon
he’s praising you to no end that you did sOOOO good!!! you really did!!!!
meanwhile your face is hot not only from that but also because you’ve endured hardship that felt like hours <3
you’re breathlessly laughing because wHEW you really did do that and wow you’re proud of yourself!!!! it’s not even 10 in the morning!!!
there’s a towel that’s gently patting your face section by section
:)
“you uhm, you didn’t have a towel with you so-“
jungkook pats at your neck to your nape and that’s when it hits that o-OH right i’ll leave you to that
you take the towel with a grin you’re fighting so hard and that’s when you realize that it’s not just a random gym one
but rather it was jungkook’s himself because it’s the same clean one he had in his hands awhile ago!!
you can smell him on it and you make sure to pat your face extra dry because you wouldn’t want to get your face sweaty now would you :D his perfume’s just a bonus, right :D
shouldn’t trainers be the cold and straight to the point ones and immediately leave right after you’re all done????
..... inch resting
“oh my gOD — mr. jimin sir-nim min jimin-nIM!!”
jungkook has the fright of his life when his boss appears from nowhere by his side
jimin laughs at how frazzled this guy is lmao but anyways he came here for you (as if he hasn’t been supervising from afar the whole time)
“want me to give you a ride home or?”
kook’s a little lost and he might just cry as he starts to think that oh wait a second are you guys-
“he’s my best friend.”
you whisper under your breath towards him and he unknowingly sighs in relief
“well did you get here using your jeep or your vespa???”
jimin has this jeep he passionately calls chimmy the jeep and he has a knack for naming things with a ring on it ok
and the other was a cream-colored vespa he bought like six months ago
he learned how to ride the bike a year ago and he was immediately let’s get this to the next level idc i’m getting a vESPA!!!
you have an iRRATIONAL fear of vespas
you’re okay with big bikes and regular motorcycles!!! in fact you find them less threatening than jimin’s motorcycle
the little wheels scare you and it’s just so??? it looks so bite-sized wHY does it look like that???? it looks like you could breathe an extra breath to your right and the vespa would steer to the right
ugh you hate his motorcycle sO bad
“well don’t you hAte public transport when you’re tired and all that???”
yikes you did
it’s true!! you’d call him to pick you up because the bus ride hits harder when you’ve had a long day and u feel every bump in the road possible
“i have a big bike!”
jungkook chimes in and he even raises his hand and that’s when he shuts up when he realizes his mistake
“no one asked mhmm i’m sorry jimin-nim sir hYung-nim”
your eyes widen as it sinks in you that oh my god he mIGHT be as into you as you are with him and that’s so ???? that’s such a heartwarming concept you can’t believe
jungkook has the same big brain moment and he takes your widened eyes as a signal to keep talking
“i have TWO helmets! but uhm one of them is for kooky and he’s a chihuahua, wait i already said that, so that means it’s just a tINY helmet i ordered from amazon but it’s okAy i can wear it!!! b-but i’m not forcing you or anything that i should take you home o-or no offense to mr. jimin-nim sir i am NOT underestimating you or-“
surprisingly, jimin doesn’t hate the idea of you and jungkook
ah he should probably adopt a dog and name them jupiter or sth,,, you and koo look like you’re gonna end up anyways
“okay. just bring her home in one piece.”
he’s oddly calm and that also makes YOU confused
jungkook isn’t confused however because the moment you turn, jimin mouths to him in korean and the rough translation was hurt her and i’ll kill you :D
you nodded your head and that meant he’s iNDEED taking you bome
he starts throwing things in his duffel bag (and he should still be in the gym but jimin jus gave him a free pass) and he’s wordlessly carrying yours too!!
he could feel your fist holding the back of his hoodie and jungkook just feels at peace :’’’)
wearing a ridiculous miniature helmet for dogs on top of his head that won’t do shit is tOTALLY worth it

what i think each og new direction member's social media presence would be like
basically i’ve been doing nothing all day and i’m way too addicted to social media and i started thinking about this so here we are. also i’m just gonna pretend social media was a big thing when they were at school (it obviously wasn’t but lets pretend this is set in like 2016 or smth)
rachel berry
lets be honest rachel would be so damn annoying on social media (not like that’s a surprise tho she’s annoying anyway)
she’d definitely use instagram the most
she’d post photos of her and finn holding hands and caption it like ‘My world, I love this boy 🔐❤️🌏✨’ and then deletes them all when they break up
EXCESSIVE use of emojis
posts selfies and quote song lyrics in the caption
posts what she’s listening to on her stories (usually boradway) and feels very entitled because of it
posts singing videos
santana and brit probably bully her in the comments of her posts lbr
honestly i can’t see her having any other forms of social media tbh, she just always uses instagram
auto caps stay ON at all times bc it’s ‘against the rules of basic grammar’
tries to talk in the nd groupchat but no one likes her or listens. like ‘What song should I do for a solo this week’ and then it starts a massive argument
finn hudson
one of those boys who just takes photos of The Scenery™ and no photos of him
maybe posts some photos of him and rachel when they’re together though
actually he probably does the same thing as rachel like ‘Can’t believe this girl is mine 😍💗’ and commenting ‘Love You ❤️’ on her posts but it just seems v high school
probably not very active but uses instagram the most
does a lot of those ask thingys on instagram like ‘send me an emoji and i’ll say what i think about you’ LMAO
i feel like he’s not very involved with it because he prefers video games more lol
uses ‘😂’ unironically
auto caps on and doesn’t even know having them off is a thing
noah puckerman
USES SNAPCHAT. nothing else. but he does have insta
has sent streaks to everyone he’s friends with on sc and will continue to until he’s like 25
posts way too many mirror selfies with the flash on without his shirt off (ew)
literally never talks in the nd groupchat
auto caps on - actually he probably Types Like This All The Time
has A Rule that if he’s talking to a girl he has to not reply for at least 2 hours but if it’s a guy then he has to reply asap (bros before hoes type vibe)
blaine anderson
i really don’t think he’d use it that much??? i feel like he’d get too overwhelmed ahdkjhdjs
WAIT APART FROM TUMBLR
he’s probably very involved with tumblr and is part of the star wars fandom/marvel fandom
his ao3 history is between him and his computer only
ppl wanna be his friend on tumblr because he’s just nice and kind 🥺
he’s probably quite popular on there - has a lot of followers
but he doesn’t really use any others - has an instagram but there’s no posts on there
maybe he tries to spread awareness on his insta stories???
hates snapchat with a passion
uses :) :( <3 ;_; way too much (he’s on tumblr)
has auto caps off. like he’s a fanboy okay he’s on TUMBLR fgs.
occasionally talks in the nd groupchat but is normally a bit intimidated by all the arguments it causes
v open about his sexuality on his insta (has a 🌈in his bio🥺)
brittany pierce
she uses all of the main ones (insta and snapchat)
posts loads of photos of lord tubbington on there and adds loads of gifs on her stories
such!! a wholesome!!! insta page!!!!!
lots of mirror selfies with the flash on
bad spelling 😔
tries to do those story bingo things but gives up when she gets confused
also has another insta account to build her fondue for 2 channel
auto caps OFF
uses all the pretty emojis way too much like ‘went to the park 🏞 it was so ✨💗 fun!!! 🌸🌈☀️ we had a good time 😍’
is the QUEEN of the nd groupchat along with santana. tbh her and santana would just use it as their place to talk about everything rather than private messages
santanna lopez
her whole instagram is just selfies
uses snapchat quite a lot but when she gets older she stops completely and deletes it ‘snapchat is for straight ppl’
cyberbullies rachel ajhfdsjhd
does ops on her story and is just brutally honest to everyone who asks
auto caps stay on but sometimes she forces her keyboard to type all lowercase
NEVER uses emojis. not even :( or :) she just never uses them ever
has a tiktok addiction for when she gets sad about britt (especially s2 when britt isn’t with her)
kurt hummel
uses instagram to show off his outfits
especially when he gets older and lives in ny!!
there’d be such cute lil videos of him and blaine on his story like taking videos of his ootd and then blaine photobombing and then he zooms in on him and laughs ok i’ve thought about this too much
compliments all his besties on their photos like ‘So gorgeous 😍’
auto caps stay religiously ON but uses a lot of abbreviations like ‘btw and ily’ etc
in the early days of him and blaine being together, he’d be quite private about it but around the time just before he leaves for ny they get more public
only uses emojis for reactionary purposes eg. to compliment friends
posts photos of anything. honestly i want to see his insta it’d be so cute
has a private instagram for his close friends where he shitposts his whole life like ‘Dad’s taking us to get mcdonalds!!!!’ with blaine
sam evans
posts shirtless pics and all the girls thirst over him ajdhksjdk
uses insta more than snapchat but always sends streaks (maybe when he’s younger tho like around season 4 i don’t think he would be anymore)
also v wholesome though??? like i think he’d post pics of what flowers he got his mum for mothers day
posts pics of mercedes on his story when they’re together 🥺
posts his favourite songs on his story
auto caps ON bc he doesn’t know having them off is a thing lol
uses 😂 unironically
mercedes jones
doesn’t post much on any social media platforms but is always liking everyone elses posts and complimenting her friends
posts more on her story than anything else
when she gets more confident in herself tho, she posts more (especially when she moves to new york)
occasional photos of sam when they’re dating with a lil love heart emoji on her story
lots of emojis but she uses them when necessary
auto caps on!!!
tina cohen-chang
THE SAME AS RACHEL WITH MIKE but like 10 times less annoying and people actually care
literally the cutest couple on instagram with the new directions group
uses the nd groupchat quite regularly bc people actually LISTEN to her there
has a cute lil gc with sam and blaine with some weird ass name
switches to auto caps off after she goes through her goth phase
uses :) and :( and also a few pretty emojis eg. 💗☀️✨🌟💐🍬 to make her captions looks pretty
v quick replier
quinn fabray
this bitch has too many emotions for social media ok?
just watches tiktok to cheer herself up but it makes her more sad
has an instagram but never posts on there
if you wanna message her just text because she’ll never reply otherwise
disappears off the face of the earth during her skank phase. deletes her instagram and everything
auto caps on but it doesn’t even matter because she never even needs to use her keyboard
(we’re talking s3 tho. in like s1 she’d have been into it to keep up her persona lol. her insta would’ve defo had over 1k followers)
mike chang
uses insta more than sc and posts photos of him and tina on his story
fast replier - loyal king
fully ignores the nd groupchat because he avoids drama 😌✨
non caps because it ‘looks friendlier and not like you’re shouting’
will help you with your homework if you have any questions
like ‘hey have you done this english homework?? i can’t find any good quotes that’ll help with the question’ and he’ll reply fast with a whole list bc he’s an academic KING
would love to post some dancing videos but gets too scared :(
artie abrams
has no social media and is rlly annoying bc its so hard to contact him
auto caps on. i mean like how would u know having them off was a thing if you don’t have any socials
fully punctuates every text

Book: My Two First Loves, (after) Chapter 38
Pairing: Ava Lawrence x MC (Emma Price)
Genre: Fluff
Rating: G, none
Word count: 4,152 (she’s a long one)
A/N: Continuation of Part 1! Ava and MC go on their first date. QUESTION: do you guys prefer shorter or longer fics? Pls lmk. Also I’m pretty sure I chipped my nail polish while writing this so I hope y’all enjoy 😂
Tag list: @ineedskyecrandall @kamilahsayeet2063 @avalawrencefl @lovekamilahsayeed @thequeenkamilahsayeed @midnitesteph (lmk if anyone would like to be included or removed in my next fics.)
I woke up to a text from Ava.
'Rise and shine, you sleepy sloth! I hope you had a good night, here's something to brighten your morning! Xoxo'
She attached a cute cat gif stretching its paws and yawning as it wakes up from it's sleep.
I shot her back a quick reply. 'Morning, babe! Thanks for the adorable cat gif, I can't wait to see your gorgeous face later today <3'.
I may have just woken up but I just knew that today was gonna be an amazing day.
The hours leading up to my date with Ava was a blur. I was wrecked with excitement and anticipation. Mackenzie noticed me on edge and I explained my dilemma to her. She didn't seem that surprised when I came out to her as bi and told her I had a date with Ava.
She just rolled her eyes and said, 'Finally!'.
Two hours before our date, I begged Mack to help me find the perfect outfit. I paced up and down my room, trying on my entire wardrobe and still not being able to settle on anything.
"Oh my god, Em, calm down!" Mack exclaimed in frustration. "It's just Ava! She's seen you at your absolute trash bottom!"
"I know! But it's different!" I defended. "It's like an actual date this time, y'know?"
"You went out for dates with Noah and Mason recently and you weren't walking up and down your room like an agitated child that just shat their pants and is too afraid to tell their parents." She squinted at me. "You like her a lot more than the both of them, don't you?"
"I- what? Mack, no. I mean, I'm not sure. I haven't figured it out yet."
She sighed and stared at me dead in the eyes. "Look, I know you like both boys but I think even you have noticed that you're more drawn to Ava. Shit, you just told me an hour or so ago that you liked her and I can already tell just by looking at you now." She waited for me to process her words before speaking again. "You aren't gonna destroy Mason's or Noah's life if you chose to be with Ava. They're big boys, they can handle the rejection."
Her words struck a chord in me. I have noticed that ever since Ava kissed me I haven't been able to think about either Mason or Noah. When I kissed both of them, I was constantly worrying about the other but with Ava, it was only her that occupied my mind.
I looked away then back at my sister. "I... I think you're right. But I'm just gonna have this date with her before I come to a conclusion."
She waved her hand at me. "Yeah yeah, you do that, but I bet you fifty that you'll agree with me."
"No way am I agreeing to that bet," I scoffed.
"And why not?"
"...'Cuz I'm pretty sure I'll lose."
~•~•~
After over an hour, I finally decided on a cute outfit and waited for Ava in my living room. I was fidgeting with my fingers while Mack made fun of me, teasing me about how nervous I was but I couldn't even focus because it was true; I was mortified.
Ding Dong!
"Ahh!" I shouted in surprise.
My sister just laughed at me and moved to answer the door. "Chill, your girlfriend's here."
"She's not my girl-" I started but stopped mid-sentence when I saw her walk into our hallway.
She may have not been my girlfriend just yet but god, I wish she were.
"Ava," I whispered, speechless. "H-hey!"
"Hey yourself, babe!" She came up to me and wrapped me in a hug. The pet name caused a rush of heat to my cheeks which I was sure she felt when she kissed it. We've always called each other by pet names, 'baby', 'babe', 'darling', 'sweetheart', 'jerk' or 'weirdo' even but this time, it felt different. Different in a good way.
She pulled back slightly as her eyes traveled up and down my figure. Her gaze set my body on fire. "You look amazing!" she complimented. "You're so pretty."
I blushed. "Thanks." I gave her a once over and felt my breath hitch. "You look really hot," I blurted out without thinking and immediately slapped my palm against my mouth.
She burst out laughing, the sound filling me with delight despite my embarrassment. "Thank you, Em." She lifted an arm and it was only then that I noticed that she was holding a bouquet of flowers. "Um, these are for you."
She knew I loved flowers. I accepted it, starting to get a little teary eyed. This was ridiculous! We haven't even stepped out of the house and I was already overwhelmed with emotions. It was a gorgeous bunch of yellow roses with red petal tips. I immediately recognised the meaning behind the colour and the tears started to trickle down my face.
"Ava," I lunged at her, wrapped my arms around her neck and burying my face in the crook of it. "You seriously didn't have to."
"But I wanted to, I wanted to do this right," she laughed and hugged me back.
This moment would've been perfect if it weren't for Mackenzie clearing her throat from the living room couch.
"Okayyyy, I guess this is my cue to leave," she awkwardly excused herself and made her way upstairs. "Bye, lovebirds! Stay safe! Don't do anything stupid and don't forget to practice safe se-!"
"Mack!" I exclaimed, cutting her off but hurling a pillow from the couch at her.
My face was flushed with heat once again from Mack's comment but Ava just let out a good-natured laugh, obviously finding the whole ordeal amusing.
"C'mon, Em. Let's go," she said.
I excused myself to place the bouquet into a vase before walking to her sedan. She opened the door of the passenger seat for me before closing it and entering the driver's side. This girl was too sweet, I swear she'd be the death of me.
She started the engine and started driving away from my house.
"So, where are we going?" I asked.
"And why should I tell you?" she teased.
"Uh, because I'm in your car and I don't know where you're taking me? That's basically kidnapping!"
"It's not if you entered on your own free will!" she giggled and I couldn't help but laugh along with her. Her laugh was contagious and it made my heart flutter.
I didn't have to wait long to find out our destination. It was a small, quaint ice cream parlour. The same ice cream parlour we went to on our first hang out together. We hadn't been back here since and the sight of the shop made me nostalgic.
We entered the shop and it was just as I remembered. It was quite and calm. A much different ambience from the outside world. We walked up to the display freezer and stared at all the different options.
Ava turned to me. "Okay, so here's how we make things interesting, we order a random ice cream we haven't tried before, no trying the flavours beforehand."
I gave her a look. Leave it to Ava to find a way to spice things up. One thing I can say for sure was that my life would definitely be boring without her.
"So, what would you like?"
"Um, I'm not sure." One particular ice cream stood out to me though I wasn't sure it'd be my cup of tea. "I kinda want to try the Maple Bacon Ice Cream but I don't know if I'll like it."
"First of all, that's the whole point of this! We won't know, it's a game of luck. Second of all, you haven't tried Maple Bacon before?" she asked incredulously.
"And you have?"
"Of course! Who hasn't?"
"Ava, that's not a regular ice cream flavour, weirdo."
"It is in my house...," she muttered as she pouted, eyebrows furrowing. I couldn't help but giggle at how cute she was being. "What if we share it? Since you're too chicken to actually get a whole scoop for yourself."
"Hey! That's not true!" I protested but she was right on some regards. I didn't want to waste it if I didn't like it. "But since you insisted, sure, I guess."
"Don't pretend you're not relieved that I offered to share," she smiled teasingly at me.
After much persuasion, I finally let Ava pay for the ice cream and we found an empty booth in the corner. It was far away and secluded enough from the other patrons to give us some privacy.
We sat across from each other with the cup of ice cream in between us. I noticed that they only gave us one spoon. We've shared food and cutlery before but this time, it made me nervous.
"They only gave us one spoon," I pointed out.
"So?" Ava questioned. "We've shared before, here!"
She scooped up some ice cream and brought it up to my lips. I looked at her and cautiously leaned forward to let her feed me. I saw her gulp as I accepted the ice cream.
She shook herself out of her daze and asked, "How is it?"
I licked my lips and gave her a smile. "It's actually really good!"
"See? You should listen to me more often," she bragged.
"Yeah, yeah, now let me feed you instead, it's only fair."
We continued to feed each other, giggling and laughing every time we smudged ice cream against the other's cheek. At first I did it by accident but Ava wasn't having it so she did it back to me on purpose.
We were attacking each other with ice cream, almost screaming at one point and only stopped when we noticed the ice cream server glaring at us.
We quiet down, trying to hold in our giggles and I couldn't help but get distracted by Ava. I saw her mouth moving, saying something but I wasn't listening. Last night was the first time I really got to look at her but right now, in the daylight, I could see every detail of her face that I missed under the dim streetlight. And now that I know my feeling weren't entirely platonic, I could properly appreciate them.
Her perfectly shaped eyebrows, her almond eyes that were a beautiful shade of chestnut brown, accentuated by her eyeliner and mascara and her soft lips that were painted in a darker shade of red today, perfectly complimenting her features. Her gorgeous hair, her high cheekbones, her strong jaw, her freckles. God, her freckles. They scattered all over her cheeks and nose making her look absolutely adorable. All these combined together to make the absolute masterpiece that was Ava.
I've always liked her freckles. I liked how prominent they were in the summer and I knew sometimes she was insecure about how obvious they were but I've always thought that that was ridiculous. If anything I thought it made her look extremely pretty. Not that she isn't without them but there was something about them that caught my attention.
I was broken out of my reverie when I say Ava waving a hand in front of my eyes.
"Hellooo? Earth to Emma?" she said, laughing. "You completely blanked out, what are you thinking about?"
"About you," I replied without a second thought.
I saw her looking a bit flustered and blush a little but she countered back. "Oh? And what about me?"
"I was just thinking about how stunning you look," I admitted.
She bit her lip. "We've known each other for years, you know how I look like, dork."
"Yeah, but I've never gotten a chance to properly look at you and appreciate your face. You're so breath-taking."
I moved to slowly cup her face in my hands and I felt the warmth from her cheeks. I saw her let out a shaky breath and close her eyes for a while before looking back at me. My own heart was doing flips. She smiled and rolled her eyes.
"Okay, you flirt," she joked.
We talked as we finished up our ice cream. Well, I ate most of eat but on our way out I bought one for Ava since I felt bad for stealing most of it. We walked out of the shop, passing the cone of ice cream back and forth to share.
"Where to next?" I asked her while licking the ice cream.
"Just keep walking, we'll be there soon," she replied while reaching out to take the ice cream from me.
I shook my head at her refusal to tell me but I complied. We walked down the sidewalk, shoulders brushing ever so slightly every now and then. I felt her hand ghost over mine a couple of times before I looked up at her. I could almost sense the conflict going on in her head. I silently giggled to myself before grabbing her hand, interlocking our fingers together.
Just like she did the night before, she looked at our hands and then into my eyes. I saw a twinkle in them as she gave me a shy smile.
"Thank you," she spoke softly.
I gave her hand a squeeze in response as we continued to walk down the street, hand-in-hand and sharing the ice cream.
I loved the way her hand fit in mine. It felt different from Mason's and Noah's hand. Their's were slightly calloused, maybe from playing football, and much bigger than mine. I liked the way their's made me feel protected and secured.
However, Ava's hand, while just as strong, was smooth and smaller. It felt comforting and familiar, like someone you've known for a long time who'd always be there even on your worse days. And I'd be lying if I said I didn't prefer this over their's.
"I like holding your hand," Ava spoke out. "It's nice."
I let out a small chuckle and nodded. "I was just thinking the same."
We walked a few more steps before Ava announced, "We're here."
She brought me to a park that was filled with trees and flowers. The park wasn't too crowded but there were a decent amount of people minding their own business. Being autumn, most leaves on the trees were a fiery yet serene combination of red, orange and amber. We walked down a pathway lined with the trees and covered with fallen leaves.
"The scenery is amazing!" I stated in awe. I looked around to take in the view and turned back to Ava to only see her gazing at me.
"So are you," she added. I don't know how many more times she was going to make me blush but I wasn't complaining.
After walking a little more, we spotted a bench. We finished up the ice cream and threw the wrapper and tissue into the trash can nearby before I pulled her by the hand to sit.
She sat a few spaces away but I scooted closer to her. I took her hand in both of mine and placed it on my lap, caressing it. We've always been physically affectionate with each other and I'm not going to allow that to change now. I still wanted her to be comfortable around me despite our recent revelation about our relationship.
Once I saw her relax a bit, I placed my head on her shoulder. I could tell her heart started to race and I had to admit that her nearness was making my heart do the same. The smell of her perfume wafted up to my nose and made my mind hazy. I was finding it hard to focus on anything else with her so close to me. But the again, why would I want to focus on anything else?
I closed my eyes and heard her speak. "I don't think you know how painful it was seeing you with Noah yesterday at homecoming. I kept trying to tell myself that it wasn't my place to be jealous but I couldn't help it. I'm sorry."
"If it makes you feel any better, even though I was with Noah, I couldn't stop myself from staring at you," I confessed. "When I saw you, I thought I was looking at an ethereal being, you didn't look like you belonged on earth, let alone at some crappy high school gym."
She lets out a radiant giggle and I felt her shoulders shake in laughter as I continued, "I realised last night that it's been like this for some time now. I hope you know that this has been long time coming, it's not just some fluke thing that happened last night."
She wraps an arm around my waist, letting it rest against my hip. "I get it, I feel the same way. I've liked you for some time now but it was time I finally admitted it to myself."
I swallowed, holding back the tears that were threatening to spill. Hearing her speak like that made me indescribably happy. "Yesterday, at the dance, I was secretly hoping you'd cut in and ask me for a dance," I confessed.
"I was hoping you'd ask me!" she revealed and we both laughed.
Ava gently nudged me off of her and stood from the bench. I looked up at her, puzzled. She stretched out an arm, offering it to me. "Since I didn't get to ask you for a dance yesterday, I'm doing it now. Would you like to share a dance with me, darling?"
I giggled at her antics. "Ava, we're in the middle of the park! People will think we're mad!"
"I don't care about them, only you. Do you care?" she challenged back.
I didn't have to think twice about my answer. "When I'm with you? Never have and never will."
I placed my hand in hers and she brought it up to her lips kissing it before pulling me up to her feet. I crashed into her, laughing and holding onto her to stabilise myself. She chuckled along with me and guided us a few paces away from the bench. She positioned a hand on my hip and the other still clutching mine. Instinctively, I brought one hand to rest on her shoulder.
"There's no music," I stated.
"Looks like we'll just have to make our own."
Ava began humming a random tune and we started spinning around as if we were ballroom dancing. We stepped onto the grassy area as my laughter and Ava's humming increased in volume.
She twirled and dipped me. She placed both her hands on my waist and lifted me, spinning me in circles as I giggled uncontrollably. If anyone was staring, I didn't notice or bother. All I cared about was that I was in Ava's arms and I felt like I was flying.
She set me down and we both just looked at each other, smiling wider than we've seen each other grin before. I pulled her into me to hug her, resting my cheek against hers. Our heavy breathing and racing hearts began to subside. I moved back slightly in her arms to still see her smiling at me.
She looked back at me and seeing her so happy made me ecstatic in return. It made my heart sing to know I'm the reason for her happiness. The way she was looking at me made me feel important. It made me feel as if I was the best thing that's ever happened to her and it was then that I knew that the feeling was mutual.
Her mesmerising eyes gazed into mine and I thought back to last night, right before we kissed. I really wanted to kiss her then and I wanted it again now.
As if she could read my thoughts, she leaned in closer to me. Inches before her lips met mine, she stopped, hesitating if she should close the gap between us. I could feel her heart start pounding in her chest again against mine.
"Kiss me, Ava," I whispered, quietly enough so only she could hear.
She placed a hand behind my neck and tugged me into a kiss. Our lips met and it felt just as spectacular as last night's. I grabbed onto her harder, not wanting to let her go in case she pulls away but by the way she was clutching onto me made it clear she wouldn't dare dream of it.
Kissing Ava felt like the most wonderful thing in the universe. Mason and Noah were great kisser but even they couldn't even begin to compete with Ava. The small fluttering feeling in my tummy whenever I kissed them was nothing compared to the overwhelming sensation I was experiencing right now. Electricity was surging through my body, energising my entire being. It was entirely intoxicating. It was other-worldly.
I've never understood why people referred to their significant others as their weaknesses because right now, kissing Ava, I felt more alive than I ever did. She wasn't my weakness, she was my strength and...
Did I just refer to Ava as my significant other?
Like all good things, it had to come to an end. But it wasn't by choice, though. So enraptured in the kiss, I leaned further forward, causing Ava to lean back until she stumbled backwards and tripped over a rock. She crashed to the ground, taking me with her.
"Oof!"
"Ouch!"
We looked at each other and burst into a fit of laughter.
"Oh my god, are you okay?" I asked her in between giggles.
"Yeah, I'm fine," she replied in a similar manner.
Ava was flat on her back and I was still on top of her as I buried my face in the crook to muffle my laughter. Ava tossed her head back, still laughing.
After a while, the laughter died down and I lifted myself to look at her once again. We couldn't help it. We started giggling madly, so much so that I let out a snort that only made us more hysterical.
"Oh god, I can't breathe," Ava wheezed.
It took us at least a good three minutes to fully calm down. I rolled off Ava and laid beside her.
"C'mere," she said and pulled me closer.
I rested my head on her shoulder and draped an arm over her torso. She wrapped an arm around me while our legs intertwined. She was staring at the sky as I closed my eyes. It's amazing to think that just the day before yesterday I was worried about choosing between Mason and Noah but now, it's never been clearer that there was only one person for me. And ironically, it was neither of them.
Being here with Ava made me recognise that the reason I couldn't choose between either of them was because my heart already belonged to someone else without me even realising.
We stayed like that for a few minutes, just enjoying each other's  presence when I finally broke the quite.
"It's crazy how so much can change in a day." I said softly. "I admit, ever since day one, I would catch myself looking at you. I thought I was staring at you because that's just what people do when they find beauty in something. I know now that while that's true, there's more to it. And it's because I like you, Ava. I really like you. It might have taken us years for us to get here but I wouldn't have had it any other way."
I felt her hold her breath for a while before slowly exhaling.
I spoke again, "I think I'm gonna call it quits with Noah and Mason."
"Are you sure? That's pretty fast."
"I've never been more sure. I can't help but compare how much better everything feels with you. I'm not asking you to be my girlfriend yet, we don't have to rush it, but why lead them on when I already know you're the best for me. You, Ava Lawrence, are my first choice."
I opened my eyes. I still couldn't see Ava's face but I felt her inhaled deeply before gently, tenderly uttering, "You are my first choice too, Emma Price."
I felt the joy bubbling in me at her words. I smiled and let out a contented sigh.
I gave her a kiss on the cheek and whispered, "My feelings were never complicated, I was just to blind to see them for what they actually were." And it was true.
I couldn't help but think how glad I was that I didn't take on Mackenzie's bet. She was right. It always was and always will be Ava.
She may not have been my first love but she was my soulmate.

Song: I couldn’t find the original one sooo
Tumblr media
Absently, Alva wondered if most of the monsters were meant to be as beautiful and kind as James, or if this one was an exception to the rule, her mind struggled to hold on to one thought, with a whole new world opening in front of her.
“I know the healer of the village on the other side of the forest. She’s nice. She brings fruits to me from time to time. She will help you.” James hopped in front of her leading the way out of the woods.
She couldn’t believe anything her eyes captured. There are bad creatures. According to the Godling, there are a lot of them. The boy explained to her, that “Drowners” inhabit both natural and artificial bodies of water, from rivers and lakes to mill ponds and city sewers. It is commonly thought that these creatures are drowned men, somehow arisen from the dead to prey on the living. This opinion is as widespread as it is false, for the beasts are another post-Conjunction relict.
She couldn’t believe that this Godling just was a boy but knowing such crucial things about this life. She remembered James talking about the powers he has, that’s how he was able to save her.
“Hey, play some more of your music, please? I love the sound of it and we have to walk some time.” The Godling begged and gave his best puppy face.
She grabbed her phone and she had an idea. Maybe she was able to call or text her dad? Letting him know she’s okay. She wasn’t sure if this was the best idea she ever had, but still better than making him believe she was dead.
No signal. Of course.
“Music, please.”
She pressed the icons on her phone monotonously and a random song started playing.
“Oh dear, oh dear, I’m sorry
That you grew up so soon
A cold year and no high school parties
I’ve been drinking alone
Oh, I’ve been drinking alone”
“A blessing to my ears. What's the name of this bard?” The Godling started dancing along while walking in front of the girl.
“What is a bard?” These questions came automatically out of her mouth, wanting to know everything about this world.
Knowledge is power. Even in a world like this. If she knows what she has to be careful about, she can start to protect herself.
“You know the man and women writing songs and these lovely texts of legends, stories of their personal experiences, or their imaginations. I don’t care what they are about. I care about the melodies. I love the tunes.” James seemed to drift off in a state where he was admiring the artists and musicians at this time the whole way out of the woods.
He specifically talked about a Bard called Priscilla. A young woman famous for her poetry.
“So, don't fear, don’t fear their warnings
They’re bitterer than most
4 years of driving across the country
For empty seats at their shows
And they’ve been drinking alone.”
Less and fewer trees came along their way and after some more minutes, a village became visible. Still far away but the girl decided to turn off the music which was rewarded with an angry look of the Godling.
“Her cottage isn’t in the village. It's right here!”
He took a sharp turn between some trees and as told, a small cabin was revealed in front of them. It was old. Looked like a typical middle-aged, self-made cottage. Random kinds of stones were piled upon each other, connected by something that seemed to be a kind of cement. A small chimney was built on top and was busy blowing smoke out of it.
“Savilla! I want to show you, my new friend.” The boy shouted and Alva begged it was quiet enough so no one around could hear them. She wasn’t ready to meet anyone in this world, at least for now.
The old wooden door of the cottage opened and a middle-aged woman stepped out of the house. She was beautiful. Her Long black hair was braided down to the small waist of hers. Her long dress was colored with a dark wood green tone. A small V-neck covered her chest mostly and the butterfly sleeves made her look like a princess. A less fancy princess but a gorgeous one.
“Hello, my lovely James. How can I help you today?” Savilla had a warm smile on her face and holding her arms out for e hug.
The Godling happily jumped into her arms, to just leave them a couple of seconds later to point hysterically at Alva.
“This is my friend Alva. She got lost in my forest and a Drowner hit her. I think shes not from hear so she needs your help.”
Savilla laid her eyes on the small girl for the first time. Silently analyzing every single part of her. At this moment Alva realized that she was a unicorn in this world. Her clothes looked completely different from Safillas and James’. She was wearing a red lumberjacket that revealed her sports bra. Some pair of sporty leggings rested on her legs and short sneakers tied on her feet. Her favorite outfit for hiking. At least her fake leather bag seemed to fit the surroundings.
It wasn’t hard to tell that if the person in front of her wasn’t a cosplayer of Lord of the Rings, she had to be stuck in some kind of middle age century.
“Yes, she's not from here. I can tell.” The firm look of the women changed into a friendly smile. “Come in, I think it’s the best if no one sees you like this.”
Both Alva and James entered the cabin. Inside it was beautiful. Flower and herbs were growing every in countless pottery. An out of stone made kitchen area filled the rest of the room with a cozy fireplace at the opposite wall. Different kinds of fabric and papers stuck to the wall. It was filled with colors and smells that made you feel instantly relaxed, at least if you’re a person like Alva.
“You don’t seem to be in a lot of pain.”, stated Safilla while grabbing a wooden chair and placing it in front of her, guiding her to sit down.
“It’s pretty numb right now. It was worse about an hour ago.” Alva tried to give off a normal impression. But what is normal in this world.
er “That what I was inferred already. You seem to be in shock. Your body numbed itself to protect you from the pain.” While investigating the big scratch she explaining typical injuries caused by Drowners.
“You’re lucky that you had James by your side. He’s a loyal soul.” The healer tossed an apple to the boy who caught it happily.
Savilla mixed some unfamiliar herbs and bandaged it up with a clean cloth.
“It should heal fast, it's not a deep cut. You are lucky.”
The women put everything back in place and then grabbed a stool herself.
“Where are you from?”, she asked.
Where was she from actually? Maybe similar countries still exist?
“Originally my family comes from Sweden but I live in the USA at the moment.” The girl explained but ended up not receiving the reaction she wanted.
“I never heard of a place like that. I traveled a lot through Cintra, Temeria, and Lyria. How did you end up here?”
The girl got quiet. She didn’t want to cause any trouble. She was a stranger to this world. How much corruption was she able to cause?
Alva felt a hand on her shoulder. Savilla gently pat her and gave her a motherly smile.
“Look dear, I’m not here to hurt you. I can see you disturbed, even traumatized. You have no idea how you got access to this world, have you?”
The girl started to tear up and found herself in a warm hug of the healer. She couldn’t help herself but at this moment everything that was built up throughout the day suddenly burst out of her.
Every breath felt like acid burning heart throat, inflaming her lungs. Her heart felt like somebody was squeezing out every single emotion trapped in there. Like a sharp blade that is cutting straight through her chest.
“Mark my words, one day will come when you finally realize that fate is inevitable. One day you will get passed all this pain and realize it was a lesson learned for a better future, for a better you. You believe that this was an accident. But in our world, everything happens for a reason.” Savilla didn’t break the contact because she knew that this girl needed it. This wasn’t the first time something like this happened. The same happened decades ago. When the monsters first got into this dimension.
“I can teach you if you let me.”
Alva lifted her head and looked at the healer.
“I can teach you how to survive in this world until we figure it a way how to get you back. You just need to let me help you.”
“How do you know?” The girl was confused, more confused than she was, to begin with. How much does this woman know?
“This is not the first time a portal opened on accident. What we need to figure out is, if this indeed was an accident or if you have a mission you have to fulfill. I will help you. That’s my duty. Let me explain. I’m a mage.”
Savilla explained to Alva that mages are basically what she knows as a witch. Only rare individuals have the potential to become mages and many of those with this potential are doomed to madness. Unless the individual in question - known as a source - learns to control their power quickly, he or she may end up a half-insane, slobbering oracle. That is why schools of sorcery were created, where talented children study for many years, acquiring knowledge and mastering magical skills. Because of their powers, mages age more slowly than ordinary people. Savilla herself attended a school called Aretuza. But she didn’t believe in their morals so she left and lives on her own.
Mages can extract magical energy from the four elements, transport themselves long distances and heal, as well as kill, in the blink of an eye. They have extensive scientific and political knowledge; in the latter respect, many mages are the equals of rulers.
A witch that is connected so some kind of rule book.
“Know you know about me, but for now we need to get you out of your clothes. They reveal your true identity. There are people out there who will view you as dangerous and they’ll get scared. We need to give you a new persona. But for now, let’s start easy. No one will look for you because James took care of that. New clothes will at least give you the appearance of our dimension.”
Savilla walked in a different room and you could her searching sounds. Fabrics got thrown around after her steps came closer again.
As she walked into the room she showed off a dress similar to hers. The dress was white and it had some floral symbols embroidered in the fabric. Her sleeves were also long and wide, almost touching the ground. The White of the dress was mostly protected by a moss green light coat that had a corset on the front. The white dress was strapless but unseen due to the green coat. On top of that Savilla brought her some flat sandals.
“I can give you some pants to wear underneath the dress if you’d like. Is more efficient when you have to move quickly.” The mage was happy she could assist that young girl. She finally had a purpose to assist to.
Alva only nodded along, speechless by the kindness the woman was offering her.
Savilla walked up to her with a hairbrush and put her hair into different styles. “And maybe we can do something with your hair, putting it up or braid-“, she hesitated the moment when she was putting her hair up. “I think it looks fitting already.”
Quickly brushing Alva's hair down again.

to all the boys i’ve loved before [part i] | s.m.
Tumblr media
part ii. part iii.
a/n: hey its your local idiot who accidentally deletes her own writing. i changed the gif bc don’t even try and tell me that doesn’t look like a high school noah centineo esc shawn mendes.
It was the last dinner as a family before Ari would be going to college. Of course she’d chosen the absolute farthest place she could have picked: England. To celebrate, Dad was making Mom’s famous tamales. Well, he would at least try.
“I hate when he makes tamales” Sofia whined. “He always messes up the masa and it’s all crumbly and dry.”
She was eleven, and she was definitely the drama queen of the family.
“It’s sweet,” Ari cooed as she led Sofia down the stairs, “And no matter how it tastes, you take a big bite and say mmmm just like Mom’s, okay?”
Sofia rolled her eyes, but nodded in agreement anyway.
Just as the three of them reached the stairs, Josh stepped into the entryway, heading straight for Ari. With a quick kiss, he greeted his girlfriend, before hollering out to their dad in the kitchen. I stayed on the stairs, in the background, as I usually did when Josh was around these days.
“Sof,” Josh greeted her younger sister with a high five.
And finally, me.
Stepping off the stairs, I met him halfway. He high fived me as we all moved into the dining room where Dad was setting the table. Ari went back into the kitchen to get everyone’s drinks fixed up.
“I can’t believe we aren’t going to see Ari until Thanksgiving,” Sofia spoke to the table.
“Well, it’s actually going to be Christmas. England is too far to come home just for Thanksgiving,” their dad answered.
“Christmas?” Sofia asked, looking towards Ari as if she might have a secret trip home planned.
“Look on the bright side,” their dad responded, “Ari won’t be here to hog the car so, Y/N can practice her driving.”
Dad took that moment, to pass out the tamales to each plate, and Sofia noticeably grimaced before covering it with a smile.
“I forgot I had to drive with Y/N now.”
“Feel free to take the bus,” I responded with a roll of my eyes.
“You know if you’re ever in a bind, I can always help out,” Josh offered. He was perfect like that, always offering to help wherever he could. “I’m not disappearing; I still live right next door.”
“Orrrrrr, I could drive. And if we ever get pulled over, we’ll just switch places real fast,” Sofia spoke with exaggerated movements as if reenacting the scenario in her mind.
“Excellent idea, sweets,” their dad chuckled.
Ari returned with drinks in tow, handing one to each person, “What are we talking about?”
“Just how bad of a driver Y/N is.”
“And airplanes,” Josh piped in.
Ari looked at him oddly, “Yeah?”
“Yeah just, ya know...how you weren’t going to be able to come home for Thanksgiving. Which, brings me to this…” Josh dramatically pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket, unfolding it to show Ari. “I thought I’d bring some home to you. I’m coming to England.”
It was a plane ticket.
“Hey, look at Josh steppin up!” Dad cheered from the head of the table.
But Ari didn’t look pleased. In fact, she looked on the verge of irate. “You already bought this?”
Josh stuttered over a few words for a moment before standing up. The tension in the air was palpable, and with just the greatest timing Sof truly has ever had she took a bite of her tamale and said, “Mmmmm, just like Mom’s.”
I guess I should tell you about Josh. For the last two years he’s been Ari’s boyfriend. But before Ari even cared that he existed, he was my first boyfriend. Space between the words boy who was a friend. I could tell him anything. We just really understood one another. He was my best friend. We didn’t exactly stop being friend when Ari and Josh got together, things just became….different. They didn’t want me to feel left out. So they invited me everywhere. Like...everywhere. Even on dates. They tried to make it as normal as possible (for a third wheel, I guess), but it just wasn’t the same. It’s not like I wanted to date Josh or anything. I’m happy for Ari. She deserves an amazing guy like Josh. And so I wrote him a letter, and I wasn’t going to send him the letter or anything. It was just for me. So I could understand all these crazy feelings. But I guess really, it was also about how sometimes I imagine what it would be like if I’d realized how I felt about him sooner. If I could have been the girlfriend instead of Ari.
My letters are my most secret possesion, for no one to see but me. There are five total. Kenny from camp, Shawn from seventh grade, Lucas from homecoming, Jake from Model UN, and….Josh. I write the letters when I have a crush so intense that I can’t even think straight. When I don’t know what to say.
Ari would say I’m being dramatic, but I think drama can be fun. Just as long as no one knows about it.
Ari and Josh broke up that night. Before mom died, she told Ari to never go to college with a boyfriend. And the next morning, she left for England. And that was the end of Ari and Josh.
Ari always said that when something is no longer useful, you either donate it, recycle it, or throw it away. I always knew she felt that way about objects, but I didn’t know she thought about people like that too. I didn’t know it was possible.
_____
It was first day of junior year. Ari was in England. I’d actually cleaned my room last night which has never happened before. And I was driving Sof to school for the first time. It all felt so wrong.
Walking down the halls as a junior in high school, I was almost at the top. I passed Josh, which felt both weird and more natural than it had in the past two years. But as I turned too look at him as I walked away, he looked sad.
Walking backwards wasn’t my strong suit though because moments later I walked right into a person.
“Ow. Excuse you!”
“Oh, shit. I’m so sorry, Gen.” I answered as I moved away from the girl who was basically the devil incarnate. “I’m so sorry, I wasn’t paying attention.”
“Oh, it’s you.” Gen sneered.
Gen...Genevieve. We used to be best friends, but post middle school for reasons having to do with her popularity, and my lack thereof. We are no decidedly, not.
At least school was the same.
“Cute boots,” Gen spoke as she eyes my boots with clear distaste.
“Thanks, they’re vintage,” I did my best to smile.
“And they’re amazing! Not everyone can rock the, but Y/N can really pull them off.”
Christine...Chris. Gen’s cousin. My best friend. My only friend really.
And then walked in the devil’s boyfriend. Shawn.
“Hey babe,” he said as he wrapped his arms around Gen’s stomach, and kissed her lightly on the temple.
“Hiiii.” Gen said sweetly.
“How’re you doing?”
“Oh I’m good, how are you?” She cooed back, clearly enamored by Shawn.
Shawn, you remember him. From seventh grade. From the letter. That’s this Shawn. Gen’s Shawn. Seventh grade, my first real boy girl party, and well, everyone knew that Shawn and Gen, who at the time was still my bestie, only liked each other. And it was at the first long awaited boy girl party that I had my friend kiss….with Shawn. It was only a spin the bottle kiss, but it was a kiss.
“I was just complementing Y/N on her adorable boots,” Gen said to Shawn, “Come on, there are more important people to talk to.”
Gen waltzed away from the them leaving Chris, me, and Shawn to stare uncomfortably after her.
“She just stopped drinking caffeine for a, uh, diet, I think.” Shawn mumbled as he tugged on a few of his shorter curls. “She’s just going through withdrawls.”
“Are you sure she doesn’t just have a chemical imbalance?” I retorted.
“Right,” Shawn said as he turned and walked away.
____
Lunch came around, and everything was wrong again. Ari was my go to lunch date. And now I was alone, yet again.
I ended up on the bleachers, next to Josh. Which wasn’t awkward at all.
“I gotta ask,” Josh asked quietly as I sat next to him. “Did she tell you? You guys talk about everything, and I just….”
“She didn’t tell me about this,” I shook my head.
“Well, we’re still cool, right?”
“Yes, we’re cool.”
We ate lunch then, in complete silence. And before you say anything about it, I know what you’re thinking. We really were cool. However I felt about him, I would never do that to Ari.
____
“This cafeteria is soooooo much bigger than at the elementary school,” Sof squealed. “And everyone wanted to sit by me, oh my god it was just so cool.”
“Yeah, I can totally relate,” I mumbled as we both got into the car.
One more drive and we’d be home free. One day of driving down….hundreds more to go. I waited for Sofia to buckle up, before I began to pull out.
“Woah, hey.” I heard a voice that sounded shockingly like Shawn Mendes.
Sofia laughed, “You really are going to get us killed.”
I shut my eyes closed, hoping maybe Shawn would forget about almost just getting hit by a car. But the tap on my car window said otherwise. I rolled down the window. Honestly, running him over may have been less painful, at least for me.
“Hi.”
“Hi,” I sounded mortified even to myself.
“How ya doing?” Shawn asked with a smile on his face. He was bent down so he was at eye level with me (which made everything a million times worse because his eyes were fucking gorgeous and I was going to fucking die).
“Good.”
“Yeah?” He asked.
“Yeah,” I whispered.
“You know people usually check behind them before they reverse? You know...to avoid killing others. It’s a thing we do.”
“Yeah, well, I’m just not, completely comfortable with the mirrors in this car yet.” I stuttered.
Sofia laughed from her seat, and really I would have liked to have run her over with my car.
“Yeah, clearly. You think you’re going to be able to make it out of the parking lot...or?”
“No, no we’ll be just fine. So you should just go, yeah, we’re fine.”
“Yeah, whatever you say.” He pointed at Sofia in the car, “Hey uh, you’re in charge.”
Shawn walked away, and I rolled up my window as Sofia said, “Who was that?”
“That was Shawn Mendes.”
We sat in the parking lot for a few minutes before Sofia said, “So, are we gonna go home?”
“Yeah, of course. We’re just going to wait for all the cars to leave first.”
____
“You know, Y/N, if you had a boyfriend, maybe you wouldn’t have to drive at all cus he would take us places” Sofia spoke as they were both sat lounging on the couch watching an episode of Stranger Things on Netflix.
I turned to look at Sofia, “If that’s what it takes, I think you’re stuck with me for a while. Sorry Sof.”
“I don’t know, what about that guy you almost killed?”
“He’s dating Gen.”
“So?”
She really was too young to understand these things apparently. Shawn Mendes was taken. A couple like Shawn and Gen don’t just break up. They’re together for at least the entirety of high school. They’re the It Couple. They’re the ones that go on to get married and become high school sweethearts. People like Shawn Mendes don’t leave girls like Gen for other girls like me.
“You know, it’s not just that.” Sofia shifted on the couch to lean against me. “Don’t you find it kind of odd that we’re at home on a Friday night, watching tv again?”
“No?”
Sofia sighed, clearly frustrated with me. “Y/N, I’m not saying this to make you feel bad, but I’m eleven. And I cancelled plans to be here tonight, and well you’re sixteen. And you never have plans.”
“That is way harsh.”
“The truth hurts, Y/N.”
____
Running the mile would most likely be the death of me. Chris, God bless that girl, was keeping pace with me despite the fact that she could have easily passed me by now. Only two more laps were left, or was it three? I was honestly just banking on Chris knowing or the coach to stop us at the right time. This could quite possibly be the third year in a row that I failed to make the time for the mile, but I wasn’t about to start practicing for this or anything.
“Hey!” I heard a voice from behind me.
I looked over at Chris to see if she was talking to me, but she just shrugged her shoulders at me.
“Hey! Y/N,” I slowed down, looking behind me.
It was Shawn. Shawn Mendes.
“Can I talk to you?” He asked.
“Um, me?” I asked, still slowly jogging alongside Chris and with Shawn trailing behind.
“Hey, SM, I heard my cousin dumped you for a college freshman, that true?”
“Uh, I heard you have horns, that true, Chris?”
“Yep, they’re red and shiny.”
Finally they came to a stop. I was definitely failing the mile. “I need to talk to you, Y/N. Uh, alone,” Shawn eyed Chris.
She hummed, slowly backing away, “Well, if you need me, I’ll uh, yeah.” She ran away and gestured in the direction she was running.
“Listen, I wanted to say that I’m flattered, and I appreciate it. But it’s just never gonna happen.”
“I’m sorry, what? What are you talking about?”
Clueless was a pretty good word for this moment.
“Look, from what I remember of that kiss it was hot, for it being in seventh grade, and I think it’s really cool that you think my eyes like sparkle or something.”
And it was in that moment that you saw it. The letter. Yes, the letter. The letter that you’d written to Shawn, never to be given to Shawn. The letter professing your all consuming seventh grade sized love for the boy that had been dating your best friend’s cousin for months. This could not be happening. How did he get that letter? Who sent him that letter? Did the others have letters too? Shawn was still talking, saying something about how he and Gen were just so fresh, he couldn’t start anything else. But I wasn’t listening, I looked over his shoulder and saw what was quite possibly my worst nightmare.
Josh.
Josh, who was headed towards me and Shawn, holding a eerily similar looking letter in his hand. He looked just as confused as I currently felt, and I did the first thing that I could think of to stop the oncoming questions Josh most definitely had. I kissed Shawn.
Yeah, I know. Not my smartest idea. Not my proudest moment. But I did it, I practically threw myself into Shawn’s arms, and kissed him. And not the seventh grade kind of peck kiss we’d had prior. But a real kiss. Like a, I need to make Josh think I’m in love with Shawn Mendes right now so that he won’t think I’m in love with him kind of kiss.
And just as I pulled away, Shawn looked equally as confused as Josh had before. Before Josh could say anything, I ran past them, back towards the main building. I think I heard Josh call after me as I ran past him, but I definitely did not stop to look back. And that’s how I evaded the two most uncomfortable moments of my life. Or so I thought.
Heading straight for the girls restroom, I locked myself in the nearest stall. Quite literally falling to the ground in a fit of panic. But without even a few seconds of privacy, the door opened.
“Hey, Y/N, you in there?”
“No.”
What the fuck. Why would I actually say no?
And then, another letter, this one addressed to Lucas, was being slipped under the stall door.
“Look, I just saw you run in here, and I wanted to make sure you were okay,” Lucas said from the other side of the stall door. “I thought you might want that back.” He meant the letter, “It seemed a little personal.”
“Lucas, I wrote this years ago,” I said as I finally made my way out of the stall. It looked like this wasn’t a conversation I could get out of.
“Freshman homecoming, right? I had a lot of fun that night too,” Lucas looked at me. He had kind eyes. “But I thought I should tell you, I’m gay. You know that right?”
“Yeah!” I said overly excited, “Of course, I totally knew that.”
I definitely did not know that.
“Okay.”
____
The letters are out. They’re out. There’s nothing I can do about it. Silver lining. Kenny’s letter was addressed to the dorms at camp, so he’ll at least never know about my crush.
“You really oughta relax,” you heard Josh’s familiar voice in your head. Great, hallucinations. So I was officially insane. Maybe I sent the letters out myself and didn’t even remember. “I know you love me.”
“Loved. Past tense. You’re Ari’s.”
“Dear Josh, I lie awake at night. And sometimes I wonder what it would be like to run my fingers through your hair. What it would be like to lie and stargaze with y--”
“Shut up! You’re not real.”
From your window, you could see Josh approaching your front door. Awesome.
“I’m more real to you than he is,” the Josh in your head responded.
Not even seconds later I heard dad calling for you from downstairs, “Josh is here!”
Time to face the music, I guess.
Orrr, I could always climb out the window. Which seemed infinitely like the better choice than having to tell your sister’s ex boyfriend that you used to love him. Yeah, I’m definitely going out the window. Stepping out of the window seemed easy, until I tripped and fell. I rolled down the small roof, and yep, right onto the fucking grass. But whatever, it’s fine. That’s the price I pay for avoidance I guess. I grabbed my bike from the front porch and hightailed it to the diner across town.
I sat in peace, drinking an amazing strawberry milkshake, until Shawn came in and sat down. Right. Next. To. Me.
“Hey, Y/N.”
Would it be possible to ignore him?
He ordered a chocolate shake and waited for you to say something.
“Whatcha doing here?” I decided on casual avoidance. Pretend like the elephant didn’t exist and it would disappear, right?
“I’m just here to take down a delicious chocolate shake, eh?”
“Cool, cool.”
“Actually, I stopped at your house and your sister said you’d probably be here.”
I was going to kill Sofia.
“Look, I just wanna be super clear. I’m flattered, for real, I am. But like, Gen and I just broke up.”
“Are you trying to reject me right now,” I asked with disinterest.
“Well, yeah. Cus it didn’t really seem like it...got through to ya, the first time, back there, at school?”
“Shawn Mendes, I’m not trying to date you.”
“Okay, like I hear you, but you’re not really acting like that.”
“Listen, here’s the situation. I don’t actually like you. I just kissed you, so it looked like I liked you so that someone else wouldn’t think I liked him.”
Yes, great, tell him all the details. It’s not like the situation was embarrassing enough as it is.
“Oh okay, who’s that?”
“What?”
“You gotta tell me who the guy is, or I’m just really not gonna believe you.”
“No,” I shook my head furiously. No way was he getting that out of me.
“Okay well, then I’ll just tell the rest of the school that you wrote me a love letter.”
“Um, no okay, no. It’s uh, Josh Sanderson?”
“Wait, doesn’t he date your sister?”
“Well, he dated my sister. Like past tense. And he also got a letter, so you can see how awkward and complicated that whole situation could get. And thus why I needed to kiss you.”
Shawn held his hand up as if to tell me to stop, “Wait woah, you sent more than one letter?”
I shook my head.
“Wow, you really think you’re special and then you find out she wrote letters to two guys.” Shawn depressingly sipped from his chocolate shake.
“Uh, yeah. There were actually five letters.”
“You sent five love letters. Damn, Y/N, you’re a player. Who else?”
“If I tell you, will you leave me alone?”
Shawn mumbled a bit, “Maybe.”
“Okay, Lucas James.”
“But he’s...gay.”
“You don’t know that,” I tried to play it cool.
“Everyone knows that.”
I DID NOT KNOW THAT. Why was I the only person who didn’t know that Lucas was gay? Was I really that blind?
“Who else?”
“Someone from camp and someone from the fifth grade. Are we good here?”
“Uh, uh yeah.” I got up to leave before Shawn’s hand touched my wrist, “Wait wait, let me take you home?”
“So...what are you gonna tell Josh?” Shawn asked as his Jeep pulled up to the front of my house.
“I guess the truth.”
“But what is the truth? Do you like him...do you not?”
“It’s not your problem, Shawn.” You smiled as you hopped out of the Jeep, grabbing your bike from the back.
“Hold up, Y/N,” Shawn called as he ran up beside you. “What if you didn’t tell him?”
“What?”
“What if...we let people...think we were together? And like..not just Sanderson, but everyone?”
“Why would you want that?”
“Well Gen went nuts when she heard that you kissed me. And if she thinks we’re a thing, she’ll want to get back together.”
“Oh, so you wanna use me as your pawn?”
“Well,” Shawn rolled his neck a little, “technically you already used me as yours.”
You were decidingly going to ignore that comment. You headed closer to the front door, kicking the stand on your bike and letting it go.
“Look, you don’t have to give me an answer now, just maybe think about it?”
“Bye Shawn,” I threw over my shoulder, ignoring his last statement completely.
Fake dating Shawn Mendes, yeah fucking right. Like that would ever happen.

Hunt : Chapter 2 - Argent
Tumblr media
I turned my head toward the door seeing Chris Argent entering the room , and my dad let go of my arm as well.
-Everything ok lily?
-I'm fine , thanks , Come dance with me
I  grabbed his arm and we head to the living room  , joining everyone on the improved dance floor , where they were all slow dancing.
Chris put his hands on my back , while i put mine around his neck. It could seems weird , our proximity , but chris & i had grow closer and closer since Allison's death.
We started to dance , but he kept staring at me for explanation , he knew my relation with my dad wasn't good ,meanwhile , Scott somehow managed to get closer to him and have a as normal as it could be, relation with him, but me , i just couldn't .Seeing that i didn't say anything , Chris rolled his eyes dramatically before leaning to my ear.
- After this dance , i'll grab two drinks and we will go in your room
- That seems indescant
He smiled , knowing i was silly just to hide my emotions and kept dancing  . After that , as said , he grabbed two glasses and we went upstairs without anyone really noticing.
He sat on my bed and i joined him , having a sip of my drink .
- I  dropped off college
he was about to drink as well , but surprised , his hand went back to rest on his knee.
-  Why is that?
I sighed lightly , playing with my fingers .
- it just ... wasn't the right path for me , and honestly , everythig is ... not good in NY , neither college  nor my social life, and i really miss everyone here and this town  as weird as it sounds  after everything that happend ...
He nod slowly, finally getting a sip of his drink before putting back his attention to me.
- i see , well , we missed you too , happy to have you back then i should say
i smiled a little , nodding my head slowly.
- you're nervous to tell your dad .
i nod again , i knew the discussion with my father would turn pretty ugly .
-i'll tell my mom tonight,  while we clean the mess
He smiled , and kissed my forehard , he would always do that to confort me.
When we went back downstairs , my dad saw us , he really didnt liked how close i was to chris , as he told to my mom , feeling like chris was stealing his dad role , even though i told him that i didnt saw chris as a father.
Anyway , i shouldn't think about him tonight.
the party went on for more hours , and everyone started to leave , only left was Scott , Malia , Stiles , my mom and i.
Stiles insisted to help us until everything was perfectly clean. Since everyone was gone , we were able to talk better without being interrupted ,he wanted to know as well what was wrong with me , so instead of telling them one by one about my return , i told them all at once.
Everyone was very enthusiastic about it  ,  happy to have me back , and that stress level dropped . i'll only have to tell my dad now , when i get the courage to go through this talk.
                                                                                    [ ... ]
I was at the hospital to give dinner to my mom , Chris was here as well , he had to get some results for an exam he had last week but the results were good, thanks God .
We were having a nice chat until my dad arrived to give a paper to my mom.I tried to leave but he insist to talk again , to know why i was staying .
Since i didn't wanted to do a scene in the middle of the corridor , i accepted to talk in an empty room .
It wasnt necessary to try to avoid it so i told him all , and oh boy , he didn't looked pleased with my choice.
- you're ruining your life !
-i'm not ! i'll take online classes and i already found a job here
- oh really? where ?
-at Deaton's
-if that's what you want your life to look like
-i dont even consider you as my father , you dont get to tell me how i should live my life after being gone for so long !!
I really was mad and ready to explode even  but Chris opened the room , clearly he heard all or almost.
                                                                                      [...]
I was finishing my hair , and looked at myself in the mirroir , quite satisfied with the result. I turned around towards my door when i heard someone whistle me.A wild smile appeared on my face as i see my twin brother , looking as handsome as ever.
- Wow , you look gorgeous!
He giggled and took my hand to make me spin around and have a better look at my dress .
-Damn , you're gonna make everyone drop their jaws.
-Oh well , i wanted that result just on you , but i'll be fine with everyone
We both laugh and i grabbed him into a tight hug. TBH Scott's hugs were the best , it was the ones that make me feel complete. We soon feel a third person hugging us thightly
-my babies , you're so old , already 25 years old !
-Mom!
she laughed at our faces and kiss both of our cheeks .
-everyone gonna be here in a minute , i'll wait you two downstairs
we nod and she left us alone .I hugged scott , this time a little bit more tight .he put his arms around my shoulders , holding me close an put his chin on my head.
- i love you Scott
He step back to look at me , and grabbed my face with both hands , looking into my eyes.
-I dont know what's wrong with you , you've been acting weird since weeks, and i'll wait for you to be ready to tell me , but tonight , i want you to have fun and enjoy our evening , is that clear young lady ?
-Yes
I smiled to him and hug him one more time before we heard the door ringing and had to go downstairs to start greet our guests.
                                                                                [...]
It was midnight past 30 , when Lydia announced me , that she had planned a little girls night out and that the boys could go finished their evening too in their side . I looked up at Scott , who shrugged his shoulders .
-why not ? go have fun with the girls, i'm sure the guys and i can found something too
Before i could say anything , the girls grabbed my arms to make me go upstairs.Hayden made me sit on the bed while Lydia bringed a bag from my wardrobe , she probably sneak in to hide that somewhere in the evening. She pulled out a red dress from it .
-Tadaaaa!!!
My eyes went wide at the size of it.
-Lydia ...i think you didn't get my size
-Come on ! I did , don't be so shy , you got to show yourself sometimes .
I wanted to say something , but Malia already had me to get up and took off my dress . Lydia already making me put the other one.
-You guys are insane , slow down , you're getting me dizzy .
-the alcohol made you dizzy
i shake my head at Hayden's comment , and tried to push down a little the dress at my thighs before finding i couldn't .
-No , guys , it's way too short
-look in the mirroir before complaing
Lydia pushed me in front of it , i looked at myself , and i got to say , even if it was pretty short , that dress was pretty flattering on me and it even made my tiny legs looks a little more longer , well , no surprise since it barely cover them , the decollete wasn't too provocative , just a little teasing , actually ...it wasn't that bad , and since i was kinda out of my right mind from the alcohol already , i didn't care much anymore.
-okay , i agree to wear it
-Yaaay , heels now !
I sighed at Lydia's enthusiasm, i put on the heels that i wore for Scott's engagement party last month , if i want to stay  up in those , i better not drink anymore . We all heads downstairs . The guys all stared at me , each one in a different way . Scott was shocked that i agreed to wear that , while Stiles was staring at my body .He smiled and came at me .
-hey girl , how you doing ?
He winked at me and i laughed at his silliness , giving him a hug .
- You're pretty but be careful girls , please , you sure you don't want us to come ?
-Stiles , it's adorable to care , but we're fine
And it's true , i always felt safe with the girls , they had superpowers afterall.Scott make sure again that we didn't need anything , but we refused.
While all the guest were gone ,  my mom , Noah and Chris were still here , in the kitchen to finish cleaning up what we started to clean before. We all head to the kitchen to say bye , and once again , i had all the eyes on me , Chris looked up from his phone , letting it fall on the floor as he saw me , i got to say that Lydia got a pretty good idea this time , not knowing that seeing Chris reacting like that would please me .
-Lily , what ...
My mom didn't finished her sentence that everyone pointed fingers at Lydia .
-i see , well ... be careful girls ...
-yes mom
Noah came to me and hug me , and then looked at his son , i didn't see Stiles's face but i could only imagine him nodding at his father , knowing he'll ask him to watch over us secretly.I then went to hug my mom , and i looked at Chris , not sure what to do , everyone will find it odd if i dont hug him .So i stepped closer to him , he didn't wait for me to get to him , he grabbed me into his arms holding me closer than usual , i could feel his strong arms crushing me but not in a painful way more like ... possessive way. I felt his breath against my ear as he lean more .
- You're incredibly beautiful
My heart did some backflips only with this compliment , he then kissed my cheek and let go of me .I quickly grabbed my purse and wave at my mom before going out , needing the fresh air to calm down the heat going to my cheek.

moodboard
Tumblr media
It didn't take a rocket scientist to know that Na Jaemin was an outright flirt.
Everything about him was charming in their own special way—from his very infamous beaming smile, to big brown eyes dazzling with mischief, gentle features but impeccably jovial personality, Jaemin broke hearts left and right simply by existing.
Just like the majority of those who found themselves in the unknowing hands of Jaemin, you brought it upon yourself. While you could have listened to the sensible part of your brain, telling you he was more than out of your league, something about Jaemin unexplainably drew you in and locked you there forever. And while it could have ended with a broken heart, one thing led to another and you couldn't help but feel as if it was meant to be.
Your first meeting with Jaemin was enough to have your curiosity peaked. It had been your second day at the new school, having recently moved and, evidently, needing to transfer. As if you weren't stressed enough, your locker wouldn't open.
You struggled in rushed aggravation, curling sweaty fingers around the knob and yanking as if, even after your past attempts, it would miraculously open. “I hate everything,” you hissed between breaths, twisting your wrist awkwardly in order to slip your fingertips through the cracks and somehow, someway, pop the door open.
You growled, slamming a first on the red metal with a thunderous bang because it was only your second day and you could not be late to a class for the fifth time.
You groaned obnoxiously, banging your forehead against the cold metal and accepting the fact that your life was just about worthless now—you contemplated just dropping out, giving up everything, and raising goats for the rest of your life.
“Are you alright?”
Every muscle of your body froze at the sudden voice, and when you glanced up in the direction you swallowed hard because wow, he was cute, but brushed it off and offered a weak smile. “My locker won't open,” you admitted, cringing at how pathetic the entirety of your predicament was.
However, the redhead replied with a beaming grin that reached his eyes and you nearly toppled over at just how gorgeous he was. Was it even allowed to be that attractive? You were stunned. “Lemme see,” he said, inching closer and you instinctively moved back in fear he would hear the rapid beating of your heart.
You ogled at him mindlessly as he fiddled with the shitty metal, rosebud lips pursed and defined eyebrows scrunched in concentration. Your gaze wandered to his hair, and you asked without thinking, “Are you naturally a ginger?”
He glanced up for a second, tearing his attention away from your locker and averting it to you, an impression of sweetness like vanilla pudding gracing his features. “No,” he chuckled, “it’s just dye.”
“Looks good,” you uttered back with red hotness burning up your neck, looking down at your feet even after he turned back around.
“C’mere,” he instructed seconds later, “put your knee here and push.” You did as he said, trying to sweep away the fact that he suddenly was incredibly close and instead focused on putting your weight against the metal where he pointed to.
With a strong bang against the top, Redhead managed to, somehow, pop the door open and you leaped back. “I would've never managed to do that,” you gushed, “thank you so much. I owe you one.”
“Don’t mention it,” said Redhead with a satisfied grin, and you spun around to fetch the books you came for in the first place, quietly aware of the fact that he hadn't walked away yet.
“What’s your name?” He asked suddenly and you jumped in surprise, completely and utterly flustered by his presence. There was something about him that you couldn't put a finger on, something luxurious and warm like hot tea in the dead of winter. You told him, of course, heart thumping so wildly you feared a heart attack was possible when yet another charming smile graced his face.
“I’m Jaemin,” he replied, “I guess you’re new?”
“Sadly, yes. It’s, uh, nice to meet you, despite the circumstances,” you said in hushed awkwardness, laughing quietly and mentally slapping yourself for being so cringey.
“Yeah, you too,” he smiled again, “are your fingers okay?”
“What?” You laughed shakily.
You watched in quiet admiration as he reached out and gently took hold of your free hand. “Oh,” you shrugged, forcing a smile when he pinched the crimson indent on the pad of your index finger, “that’s just from trying to get the locker open. It’ll go away.”
“Alright,” said Jaemin, big brown eyes twinkling, “I’ll see you around?”
“Sure—yeah,” you said, forcing your brain to start functioning once he let go of your hand like one would slap the television remote, “I’ll see you.”
You spun around abruptly and sped down the hall, clutching the textbook for dear life and a heavy sigh escaped your lips because holy shit. However, once you were at the end of the hallway, you made the mistake of turning around for a split second and glancing back.
The gorgeous locker-busting master was still standing there, a lazy smile displayed on his pretty face.
A few hours later, you found yourself sitting at a lunch table with a group of girls you hardly considered acquaintances, sluggishly loosening ramen in its cheap plastic cup.
“So, how’s your second day going so far?”
After a few seconds deemed way longer than necessary, you finally processed the words and realized they were meant for you. “Oh,” you coughed, shrugging and pausing your lazy ramen mixing to look up at the four girls, “it’s okay, I’m just tired.”
“Tell me about it,” said Hayley, the pretty brunette with lively hazel eyes you became especially fond of. “Have you met any more people?”
“Uh, yeah, actually,” you mumbled nonchalantly, “Jaemin’s, his name.”
All four suddenly looked at you with wide eyes and you shrunk back in your seat. “Jaemin?” They whispered in unison.
“Uh, yeah?”
They suddenly catapulted questions at you all at once, asking for a slew of details you, sadly, didn’t have. Once they calmed down, you told them of your brief encounter with the boy before asking, “Why’re you acting like it’s the end of the world?”
“He’s the cutest guy in our class.”
“In the school, you mean.”
“That’s a lie, Donghyuck is the cutest.”
“It doesn't matter! They’re all cute!”
“Jaemin is like, the cutest guy ever. And he’s such a sweetheart.”
“No way, he’s a total bad boy like the rest of them. Have you seen him at parties?”
A sigh of disinterest slipped past your lips and you went back to plopping kimchi into the steaming cup. “So, I’m assuming he’s a pretty big heartthrob around here?” You asked, slurping at the noodles and glancing back up at the girls.
“Oh, yeah. I don't know if he does it purposely, but he’s such a flirt. Everyone has been obsessed with Jaemin at one point,” the stout blonde, Daisy, said, “it’s kind of hard not to.”
You grunted in response. It’s not that you were disappointed—there was no reason to be—but hearing that the redhead’s overall beauty was already established throughout the school and that he wasn’t some shy, mysterious boy no one paid any mind to was more or less, well, disappointing.
Your second major interaction with Jaemin was puzzling in its own way. And the more you mulled over it, the more your brain became a spinning top. While you had seen him more than once during and in between classes offering quiet small talk, this was different, personal, special—no matter how long and hard you tried forgetting about it, something about the way he talked and acted was absolutely unforgettable and you couldn't stop thinking about him and that you may have stumbled upon a side of Jaemin no one else knew.
It was a Saturday night, you were home alone, glaring at the remaining boxes left in your room and discerning whether you wanted to unpack its contents. You had put it off for over a week, but the thought of having to do anything of that sort was incredibly unappealing.
Instead, you struggled into a pair of jeans and slipped on sneakers before making your way down to the garage, hopping on your bike, and speeding away with no specific destination in mind.
The bustling part of town was only ten minutes away and it didn’t take long to stumble into a shop that was still open and seemed somewhat interesting. The bookstore was small, wedged between two taller brick buildings, but warm and cozy in its own simple way. Leaving your bike locked outside, you pushed open the door and a bell jingled, notifying whoever was inside of your presence. Not surprisingly, it was empty from what you could see, and the few lights within the rosy-colored space showered the shelves with a pleasant glow that in some way made it feel like home.
It was almost eight-thirty, and you expected that the quaint store would be closing soon so you made a beeline for what you wanted. That is if they had it.
Fortunately, it didn’t take long, and you were incredibly excited that you may have, in fact, found your favorite place in this so far shitty town.
“A Separate Peace?”
You jumped, cold shivers racing down your spine at the inquiry and you spun in the direction. It was a sequel to your locker predicament, apparently, because the only redhead you had met so far was standing only a few feet away, hands deep in his pockets and looking gorgeous as always.
“You’ve read it?” You asked, ignoring the bugging curiosity within you to know whether he worked here or not and swallowing the lump of nervousness lodged in your throat.
“Have you?”
“Yeah, a few times,” you said, completely entranced with the way the warm glow of the lights made Jaemin look so incredibly unreal. “It’s a good one,” he commented, reaching for the novel in your hands and you reluctantly let him take it, “not my favorite, though.”
“What is?”
“I don’t know, honestly. I have too many,” Jaemin shrugged with a gentle smile, handing the book back to you, “how ‘bout you?”
“No, but I find myself going back to it,” you admitted, finally taking notice of the round, copper glasses sitting low on the bridge of his nose, “it has a really deep meaning that I like, I guess.”
“Have you ever read Lord of the Flies?” He asked suddenly.
“Of course. It’s a little depressing, don’t you think?”
Jaemin shrugged, “It’s realistic though. Our species is pretty shitty.” You pondered his statement and shrugged as well. “I think it was just because it was all boys,” you teased, grinning back at him when he rolled his eyes with a snicker. Without replying, Jaemin wrapped his hand around your wrist and led you to the back of the shop, the sudden act finally reminding you of just who you were talking to and an immediate blush burned its way up your cheeks.
Jaemin stopped at the back corner of the store, where an incredibly small wooden coffee table and two leather sofas, each embellished with small patches absent of leather and old pillows that reminded you of something you’d find at a yard sale, sat surrounded by more towering bookshelves. “Do you want hot chocolate?”
You finally glanced back to him, heart swelling in your chest at his kindness before nodding at his question. “What else have you read?” He asked, fidgeting with the Keurig machine hidden on the bottom shelf of the coffee table. “I don’t know, there’s a lot. Have you ever heard of the Mara Dyer trilogy?”
“I have not. Is that your favorite?”
“Yeah, that’s my favorite,” you replied, settling onto the couch and immediately moving your hand to pick at one of the tears in the leather, studying Jaemin with a certain curiosity as he searched through novels on the closest oak bookcase.
“What about this?” He asked suddenly, tossing the novel to you and luckily you were quick enough to catch it. Your mouth went slack once you realized it was the first book of Fifty Shades of Grey. “No. Have you ever read the Bible?” You fired back, blushing furiously but still glaring at him playfully.
This became a regular occurrence. At first you went in once a week just to buy a new book once you had, in fact, learned that he worked at the quiet store, but by the increasing number of visits every week it soon became clear that visiting the tiny store had more to do with the gorgeous boy working inside rather than the endless supply of novels. He’d wait to close the shop until you arrived late in the evening, hot chocolate already made and mind buzzing with thoughts about the newest book you had recommended.
The same went for you—it was an unspoken agreement to suggest new books to one another each week and return days later with thoughts about them. It had started when you caught him slipping The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer into his locker and flashed a knowing smile, which he rolled his eyes in return. A few days later, he noticed the covers of both The Great Gatsby and Wuthering Heights in your book bag and teased you nonstop.
You knew Jaemin for four months when he came into school one day with his hair dark brown, the color of espresso and chocolate and amounting to make him look much older and maturer than he had with the diluted strawberry brown. It was a surprise on that Monday morning—you hadn’t seen him at all that weekend, too preoccupied with a slew of homework to find any time to head downtown.
However, you had made it a point to call him and vent to him about your thoughts on Paper Towns, but he never mentioned the change of hair color during your hour call. And so, to see him so... so hot, even dressed in the preppy school uniform, made your skin crawl because Jaemin wasn't hot. Jaemin was cute and innocent and precious like a puppy. This.
This was different.
You were waiting at your locker, as usual, green tea in hand for him because Jaemin hated sociology first period, scrolling through Instagram with your free hand. It was the quiet hush of whispers followed by the obnoxious hoot from who you assumed are Jaemin’s friends that made you glance up, taking a slow sip of the tea just to annoy him. Lord knows, he did not like sharing his green tea or chocolate milk.
However, when he finally rounded the corner and came into full view, your heart literally, one hundred percent stopped and you suddenly forgot how to breathe. How was it that he always had to shock you? For a while, you had more or less became desensitized, say, to Jaemin’s perfection by becoming such good friends. Of course, it was impossible to not be attracted to him, but you had drilled it into your head that he was unarguably untouchable and settled that friends were better than nothing.
He sauntered his way over, running slender fingers through the new dark locks, completely oblivious to the stares he was getting before snatching the tea from your grip before you could steal another sip. “You dyed your hair,” was all you said.
“You bashed Paper Towns,” he fired back, inching closer but you barely noticed, too preoccupied fiddling with a strand of his hair in admiration. “I did not, I told you I liked it, I just wished Margo was included m—”
He kissed you.
It completely caught you off guard, you certainly weren't expecting it, having to swallow the rest of your sentence and drop your hands to grip at his fleece sweater because holy shit, he was kissing you.
Your brain short-circuited for a moment before kickstarting once more and you finally kissed him back, it was chaste and achingly raw and he pulled away before you could even process what you were doing.
You were embarrassed that your lips followed his, eager for his gentle touch and the softness of his velvet lips on yours again, but a bright grin from him settled your nerves and you were suddenly hit with the weight of your actions.
“You just kissed me,” you accused, jabbing a finger into his chest but snaking your other hand up to lay across his shoulders. “You were staring really hard, I thought it was a good opportunity,” he replied, a lackadaisical smile softening his pretty features.
“Okay,” you whispered, reaching up once more to touch his hair, “people are staring, you know.”
“Let them,” he grinned fully this time, dipping down again and pressing yet another quick kiss to your lips and you swore you never wanted to taste or feel anything else again.
The first bell rang obnoxiously and you winced, cursing the school for ruining the moment and having to keep yourself from frowning when Jaemin pulled away, even though his fingers were intertwined with yours. When did that happen?
“I’ll see you?” He asked, smiling in such a fond way you couldn’t help but smile back.
“Yeah, I’ll see you.”
The slew of questions hurled at you from both friends and strangers after that was expected, but what was more disappointing was that you didn't know.
Were the two of you dating? Talking? You didn’t know.
Since when was there something between the two of you? You didn’t know.
Was that kiss just a spur of the moment kind of thing? You didn’t know.
Or was it the beginning of something more? You didn’t know and it was starting to drive you insane. After a full week of school and no mention from either of you about whatever happened on that Monday morning, you found yourself lying in bed, wondering what the fuck was going on?
Jaemin acted as if nothing had ever happened and you hesitantly went on with it, hoping it would come up again but it never did. You didn’t go to the bookstore that week either, replying to his texts that you didn’t have time and he luckily didn't question it.
However, fate always had a way.
Saturday night, Hayley managed to get you to leave the house for some party you truly had no interest in. She claimed that you could use some drinks to get your mind off the entire situation no matter how hard you expressed to her that napping would have just the same effect.
The social event in itself reminded you of a dingy middle school basement party, fun for those who made the effort and impeccably boring for those who just watched and did not want to be there in the first place. The music was so loud it made your skin tingle and brain turn to mush, you could barely hear what Hayley whispered in your ear before she disappeared into the crowd jumping like Tic-Tacs being shaken in its container.
You sighed sadly, leaning into the counter and gazing over the multitude of drink options before loud laughter stole your attention and you glanced up. You were more than awestruck to see Jaemin decked out in white joggers and a white tee shirt, but what really shocked you was to witness his friends cheer him on as he chugged whatever liquor was in the glass bottle held to his lips.
I guess the rumors are true, you wondered, recalling all the times you heard of how hard Jaemin and his circle partied.
Jaemin suddenly pulled the bottle away with a grimace and shoved it into Jeno’s arms. Before he could walk away, Chenle grabbed him by the elbow and pulled him in close, and seconds later, Jaemin spun around and found you across the room, smiling brightly but it quickly fell because wow, since when did you wear tube tops? He was sauntering over in a blink of an eye, and it happened all too fast before you until Jaemin was standing just inches away.
“I didn’t realize you were such a skilled drinker,” you commented, raising a brow at his clouded expression. “I didn’t know you wore such revealing clothes,” he retorted, voice surprisingly clear and you presumed that was his first drink. “Shut up, Jaemin.”
“I never said I didn’t like it,” he grumbled, quieting for moment to fight an internal battle before finally caving in and reaching out to wrap his arms gently around your waist.
Needless-to-say, you were uncomfortable around Jaemin for the first time since you had met him.
The urge to kiss him was borderline unbearable, but the voices deep within you reminded you of just who it was and how he never once brought up your first kiss. And yet, here he was, the alcohol not fully in effect, pulling you into him and resting his forehead against yours.
“We should talk. About things,” you stammered out, heart beating sporadically and brain not fully functioning when he looked at you with all the wonder in the world within his big brown eyes. “Not tonight, but soon,” he sighed, lifting his head and instead tugging you into a hug, “I love you.”
Your heart stopped beating. The music stopped roaring. The students stopped dancing. The world stopped rotating. The universe and everything in it completely stopped.
He what?
“What?” You laughed shakily, leaning backward to look at his pretty face once more and finding not a trace of laughter. “You heard me. I love you,” he smiled softly.
“Jaemin, don’t say that. High school relationships are dumb, it’s all bullshit. Love is a very dangerous thing, you can't just throw that out there,” you stammered, not realizing you were holding onto his arms with an iron grip until he took your hands in his.
“Good thing we’ll be graduating and won’t be in high school much longer then, because I’m absolutely in love with you,” Jaemin whispered, you could feel the genuineness laced in his words and nearly toppled over. He loved you?
You stared at him silently, his confession seeping slowly into the confines of your brain and heart like molasses. It felt somewhat like a dream, like none of him was real and you were only imagining his sincerity and his beauty and his lips. It was soft and sweet like honey the way you kissed him, shutting out the rest of the world and focusing only on him because holy shit, “I love you,” you muttered, pulling him close again and he finally relaxed in your arms.
You loved him. More than you knew you had. Maybe it was when he had kissed you Monday morning in front of everyone you realized you loved him. Or maybe you fell in love with him the first Saturday night at the bookstore, when you drank hot chocolate and talked about novels even though he was a stranger. Or maybe you loved him the first time you met him when he went out of his way to pop open your doomed locker.
Whenever it was, you knew you loved Jaemin and he loved you. And even though humanity was pretty messed up like it is in Lord of the Flies and there should have been more about Margo in Paper Towns, maybe you would have a Mara Dyer and Noah Shaw kind of love forever.

bud lights & bruises - noah hanifin
Tumblr media
Masterlist!
gif by @nhanifin
prompt/request: I heard this and really wanted to write a bathroom scene lol🤷🏼‍♀️
warnings: a ‘fuck’ here and there, lil makeout sesh, mentions of alcohol, mentions of blood and bruises
author’s note: this only the second thing I’ve written so feedback is much appreciated!!
word count: 1312
You burst through the creaky bathroom door, the rap that’s bumping downstairs fading out as it shuts. There he is, frat boy extraordinaire in all his glory, but instead of seeing his usually flawless face, you notice a purple shiner on his left eye. “Hanny, what’d you do this time?” you question, a little frazzled and out of breath, and you can feel a headache coming on thanks to the amount beer in your bloodstream. You had to sprint up the stairs when Noah texted you ‘Meet me in the upstairs bathroom. It’s an emergency’.
“Um, well me and Cam were fucking around a bit, and he kinda sorta accidentally decked me in the face.” Noah explains, the words come out a little rushed and you have to take a moment to process his sentence.
“Seriously, Noah? I was in the middle of like, destroying Jeff at a game of pong, and you interrupt my victory for this?” You glance back at his face to examine his black eye which seems to be getting darker, and there’s blood running down the bridge of his nose. “Man, you hockey players really are as dumb as they say.”
Your comment earns an awfully dramatic eye roll from Noah, though it’s interrupted by a wince due to the bruising. You’re a little annoyed because he still looks perfect despite his bloodshot eye and flushed cheeks. “Y/N, please help me clean up,” Noah begs. He looks a little desperate, but his eyes are soft and his lips are parted and you can’t say no.
“Ugh, fine. But you owe me, this is interrupting the time I intended to use to get as drunk as possible.”
Noah has a lazy smirk on his face. “Of course. We’ll do shots as soon as there isn’t like, blood running down my face.”
Things between you and Noah have always been complicated. You've always been just friends, but you’d be lying if you say that you never wonder what would happen if you two were more. He’s incredibly attractive and your buzz and the glow of the fluorescent bathroom lights make him look even more so.
You turn from him to rummage under the sink, looking for a first aid kit. “Aha!” You exclaim, pleased with your findings. You flip to face him and find him staring. You feel your cheeks burn a little, but you immediately look down to filter through the kit, praying that Noah didn’t notice, while also wishing you were a little more drunk.
You hop up on the counter and scooch forward, motioning for Noah to step closer. He stands between your legs and rests his hands on your thighs and you swallow so loud that people in the hallway can probably hear.
You feel tiny under his 6’3 frame and you’re a little distracted by how broad his chest is and how bad you wanna touch it. You look back up to meet his eyes. The whites have turned more pink, but his irises are like looking into the Atlantic Ocean and it’s a little too much for you.
Your hands fumble with the plastic package containing cotton pads, and you look at Noah shyly through your lashes. You want so badly to blame your shakiness on the amount of Bud Light you’ve ingested in the past three hours, but Mama didn’t raise no liar.
“Here,” Noah says, taking the package from your grasp and tearing it with ease, removing a soft pad from the bag and handing it to you.
You pour rubbing alcohol onto the material. “This might hurt, dude. Just tell me if I should text Skinner to come hold your hand.”
“Oh please, I’m a big boy.” He puffs his chest out and flexes his right bicep.
You shrug, “Suit yourself.” Noah lets out a low hiss as soon as the liquid touches his cut, and his grip on your thighs tightens a little bit, causing the breath to hitch in your throat.
“Fuck,” he breathes and you relax and let out a giggle, a small smirk playing on your lips.
You continue nursing his cut and he watches you carefully. You keep your gaze locked on his forehead, knowing that if you look into his stupid blue eyes you’ll melt like the Wicked Witch of the Fucking West.
“Okay,” you toss the used cotton pad in the garbage. “Time to deal with this monster.” You motion to Noah’s black eye. You find an instant ice pack and crack it, immediately feeling the cold.
You place it on his eye, holding it there to stop the swelling. Noah places his large hand over yours. You’re a little shocked and you aren’t sure of you should leave your hand under his. After a moment of contemplation, you let your small hand rest under Noah’s.
In the silence, you absentmindedly begin to hum to the faint music booming from downstairs. It’s a song by The 1975 that you know all too well, ‘Robbers’, you remember. It’s muffled, but a wave of nostalgia washes over you.
Noah smiles at you, easy and calm and gorgeous and you smile back, his grin easing your nerves. The feeling in your tummy is warm and gooey and you hate yourself for how much you admire him and how badly you want to run your fingers through his dumb hockey flow.
“That should be good,” you offer, expecting him to step back and return to the party. Neither of you make a move, you keep your bum planted on the marble counter and your eyes just above his.
“C-can I kiss you?” Noah asks and your eyes come to see his blue orbs flicking to gaze at your lips for a split second.
See, any sane person would say no, but the beer flowing through your system says otherwise. You nod your head a little too quick, clear your throat and drop the ice pack from Noah’s eye. He leans in to close the gap between the two of you, hips hitting the counter. It’s chaste at first, tentative.
Your eyes flutter closed and you bring your hand to his left cheek. It feels warm, his face having been flushed by the multiple drinks that have lead to his bruised situation. Your other hand finds its way into his hair and tugs gently, earning a sound from Noah. You begin to lean back and he chases, pressing kiss after kiss on your lips. You both pull away and rest your foreheads together.
“You know, when I imagined our first kiss I definitely didn’t picture it in Brett’s bathroom,” Noah says, grinning widely at you.
You pull him back into you, tilting your head and slotting your lips together. “I could say the same thing,” you mumble against him, feeling comfort in the fact that he’s thought about your first kiss too.
You breathe him in as he begins to kiss you again. He smells like beer and faded cologne that he bought with you, it’s intoxicating.
Your lips fit together and the kiss becomes deeper as your head tilts to the left. You start to become dizzy, getting high off of Noah. You can feel his warm hands through the cotton of your body suit and -knock, knock, knock.
The two of you immediately disconnect, frazzled by the interruption. “Is someone in there? I think I’m gonna puke.”
You and Noah look at each other, disappointment written on his bruised face. “Well, as much as I’m enjoying this, I believe you promised me shots,” you wink.
He pulls you off of the counter and tugs your hand through the door frame, apologizing to the poor stranger waiting to go in to the bathroom.
Though your moment is cut short, the night holds plenty more dancing, alcohol, and hopefully, making out with Noah.

Y/N POV
"Y/N pleeeeeaaassseeee" the muffled voice of Finn Wolfhard begged through the phone, "everyone's dying to meet you!"
I sighed and plopped down on the couch, spinning so I was upside down with my legs over the top and my hair brushing the ground.
I loved talking to Finn and hearing his voice, but right now I was ready to end the call.
"I don't know Finn... They're probably just saying that for your sake." I mumbled, staring at the world from an upside down point-of-view.
Finn groaned through the phone and I rolled my eyes at his over-dramatising. It was cute, but extremely annoying.
"Pretty please, Y/N?! I really want you there, I feel like I haven't seen you in ages! It'll just be like when we were younger and had family Christmas parties." He offered, trying to get me to come.
He wanted me to agree to go to a Birthday/Christmas party he was having with all his cast mates and stuff. And as someone from his past, not really his present; I wasn't very keen to go.
Our families used to live next door, so Finn and I grew up together. We were best friends and we did everything together. Every year we had a massive neighbourhood Christmas party. But since the Wolfhards moved away, and with Finns acting, it got harder and harder trying to catch up. We kind of drifted apart, despite both of our efforts.
I sighed, closing my eyes.
The more we talked, the harder it was to say goodbye. The more I saw him, the harder it was to deny my feelings.
"I don't know Finn. You'll be fine without me, you've got all your new friends there. I really wouldn't fit in. I'd be the only non-Cast mate. It would just be me sitting in a corner while everyone else has fun. I appreciate the offer, dude, but it's a no." I said softly, chewing my lip anxiously just thinking about the situation.
The more time I spent with him, the more likely it was for him to find out.
On the other side of the phone there was quiet. Maybe he had finally given up?
"Y/N/N, I wouldn't want to be there without you. You're my oldest and bestest friend, and I want to introduce you to my other friends so that all of my friends can be friends! I know for a fact you'd fit in. Josh will be there as well, so you won't be the only non-cast member! And if you end up sitting in a corner, I'll come sit with you. But, I guess, if you really don't want to go and it'd just going to make you uncomfortable, you don't have to come...." Finn said reassuringly.
I pondered for a long moment, thinking through my options.
Surely I could manage an hour or so... Just for Finn.. And he was right, we hasn't seen each other in ages, and I missed him so much. It was only one night, right? It wouldn't be that hard to act like the me that he knows, the one that was completely and utterly his platonic best friend... Right?
"Fine. But only for you, asshole." I sighed.
I heard a loud cheer from the phone, and laughed.
Shit. What have I gotten myself into.
"You weren't gonna give me the option to not go were you?" I asked, knowing the answer.
"Nope. I was gonna keep bugging you." Finn said in a very happy voice.
I simply laughed and wrote down the details of the party, not really listening.
23rd. Finns house. Sleepover. Ugly Christmas sweater.
"Okay, see you later, Finn" I said, wanting to get off the phone before ten minutes turned into two hours.
"See ya, Y/N/N!" He responded.
We hung up and I sighed, slowly sliding off the couch like a snake. My heart was pounding even from just hearing his voice.
I was screwed royally.
Finns POV
I put my phone down, letting out a sigh. I lean my head back against the couch and smile.
It wasn't a great execution, but I got the intended end result, so that's all that matters. I sat up and opened my eyes to see the boys grinning at me expectantly.
I rolled my eyes and nodded, sending them up into cheers. Nic and Wyatt both slapped my back in congratulation and Jaeden wiped away a fake tear.
"Guys, it's not that big of a deal." I groaned, running my hands through my messy hair.
I mean, it was a big deal, but I wasn't going to tell them that. I had to act normal. Might as well get some practice in at it before Y/N came over for the party.
Chosen scoffed and looked at me with raised eyebrows.
"Dude, you've been spending all morning freaking out and writing a script for what to say to her, just to invite her to your party, despite knowing each other since forever." He teased.
"And when you finally actually called her you couldn't stop blushing, and stammering and biting your lip." Dustin piped up.
"Oh, and when she agreed to come you cheered as if you won a gold medal at the Olympics." Caleb said nudging me.
I could feel my face heat up but I just rolled my eyes.
"Whatever" I muttered sheepishly, glad that they had finished attacking me.
Sophia walked in then, having gone shopping with my mom for some 'much needed girl time'.
She looked at all the boys surrounding me, the blush on my face and the phone beside me, and quickly realised what was happening.
"Oh, and don't forget about how he never shut up about her on set." She teased, one hand on her hip, the other holding a Starbucks coffee.
I groaned and buried my face in my hands as they all went around the circle, saying something I had said or done that gave it away.
Everyone except Millie and Sadie added something in, and that was only because they hadn't arrived yet.
Soon, Josh was telling them stories about times I had made an idiot of myself in front of her, since the three of us used to spend a lot of time together.
Eventually, when my face was as red as a fire truck, I spoke up.
"Okay. Fine. You got me. I have massive fucking crush on my best friend, Y/N, but there's no point. She only likes me as a friend, barely even that I think. Besides, I don't want to ruin the friendship, so please don't mention it to her?" I sighed, giving up.
Jaeden rolled his eyes, but nodded. "Took you long enough to admit it, dumbass." He said grinning.
"And we won't tell her. Yet. We have to actually meet her first and see if she's right for you, then we'll think about telling her." Jeremy grinned, winking.
Sophia plopped down onto a spare chair, sighing.
"I just can't wait to be the only girl. I mean there's gonna be three other girls here. That's like three more than I'm used to" Sophia grinned, changing the subject, thank god.
"Speaking of, when does Millie and Sadies plane arrive? I wonder how their holiday was..." Noah asked, checking his watch.
"9pm tonight," I replied nodding, looking at my own watch.
It was only mom and I that went to pick up the girls, since we wouldn't all fit in a car, and needed space for their luggage.
It gave me a good opportunity to think.
How was I gonna greet Y/N? Should I play it cool? Or act like I used to when my feelings were purely platonic? Or should I go out on a limb and flirt with her?
I decided on acting. I was good at acting, I could do that easy. Just act like I didn't get butterflies whenever I see or hear her, act as if the way she would grin at me expectantly after telling a shifty joke, didn't effect me at all. Act like I didn't care whether or not she noticed me. Act as if she didn't make me feel weak in the knees or make my heart flutter whenever she looked at me with her gorgeous eyes.... Act like I didn't want to kiss her on those cute lips of hers that seemed to draw my eyes in like a magnet. Easy.
I sighed deeply, wiping my face with my hand as if this would wipe away my thoughts.
My mom looked at me concerned, before turning her attention back to the road.
"Are you okay, honey? That was a big sigh. Do you still want to have the party? It's not too late to cancel." She said, her voice thick with concern and love.
I shook my head simply.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I still want to have the party, it's just..." I trailed off weakly.
"It's just, what? You can tell me, Finn, it's okay." She prompted.
"It's just that I have this... This crush.. On this girl whose coming to the party, and I don't know how to act around her. I really, really like her, mom, but I don't want to ruin our friendship." I sighed, letting it all out.
It felt good to vent.
Mom smiled, quickly glancing at me.
"And this girl, are we going to pick her up right now?" She asked, curiosity getting the better of her.
"No, mom." I glared at her.
She nodded, slowly.
“That Sophia is a very nice girl, Finn, and I think-"
"It's not Sophia either." I mumbled, cutting her off.
She gasped, her eyes widening.
"You like Y/N! Oh, Finny! Aw, wait until I tell Y/M/N! We've been waiting for this since you were just kids!" She squealed uncharacteristically like a schoolgirl.
My eyes widened in alarm.
"Mom! No! Both Y/N and her mom are not finding out about this! And that's really weird."
She simply shrugged, and reached over to ruffle my hair.
"Okay, Finny. I just think you two would be adorable together."
I rolled my eyes and slumped into the seat of the car, wanting to melt into it.
"Honey, just know that if your friendship is important enough to the both of you, even if she doesn't share the same feelings about you, as you do for her, your friendship will stay the same. It might be awkward at first, but she's not worth it if she can't keep the lifelong friendship you guys have, just because of a crush." Mom said calmly and reassuringly, smiling at me gently, "but something tells me that you guys will figure it all out."
I nodded, smiling softly, hoping what she said was true.
Millie and Sadie both fell asleep in the car on the way home.
The reunion between me and them must've taken up what little energy they had left after a long flight from London, where they had flown to from Mexico.
Millie and Sadie had run to meet us, and engulfed me and then my mom in a big hug each.
When Millie gave me a hug, she whispered in my ear, "I can't wait to meet her."
I had groaned, responding, "they told you already?"
She had laughed and nodded, "texted me just as the plane landed."
When Sadie had given me a hug that seemed to have way too much strength from someone her size, she whispered, "Sounds like you're head over heels from what I've heard, Finn."
Unable to stop the blush, I just laughed nervously.
She grinned at me before going over to give my mom a hug.
“Thank you so much for letting us stay with you, Mrs. Wolfhard." I only just heard the girls say.
I was too busy caught up in my own thoughts.
Slowly, I walked to the car behind the others.
Everyone, apart from Y/N -hopefully-, knew that I was crushing on her, hard. Would someone let it slip that I liked her? Or, more likely, would they hint at it very heavily until she caught on? Would she, then, laugh at me with everyone about how stupid I was? Would she-
"Finn!" Mom said loudly and I snapped out of my thoughts.
"Hmm?"
"We're at the the car, sweetie."
She gestured to the car, the girls in the backseat, giggling.
I smiled sheepishly.
"Oh, yeah, right, sorry." I said and jumped in the passenger seat.
"Daydreaming about someone were we, Finny?" Millie teased as Sadie made kissy faces beside her, teasing me.
I rolled my eyes and pulled the finger at them before focusing ahead.
When we reached home, everyone else was asleep. I guess all of the reunions were going to be tomorrow morning.
I showed the girls their bedroom where Sophia was already sound asleep and said goodnight, before retreating to my own room.
I almost stepped on a snoring Jeremy, and Chosen muttered in his sleep, worrying me that I had woken him up.
I fell asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow.
There's part one! How was it? Good enough to make you want to read part two, hopefully! Let me know how I can improve etc!
