SOME PROTECTOR ⋆˚꩜。 spencer reid x ex!reader

summary: it’s been 313 days. spencer still remembers the last thing you said to him. you still mean it. he’s been holding on from a distance ever since.
genre: angst (some smut & fluff in flashback scenes, but it’s mostly angst & hurt no comfort lol) | w/c: 7k
tags/warnings: inspired by the song “some protector” by role model, fem!reader, no use of y/n, yearner-in-chief spencer reid, yearninggg, like SO much yearning, minor alcohol consumption, relationship/breakup flashbacks, mutual pining, no happy ending (unresolved tho maybe?), panic attack in a flashback, sex scene in a flashback (making out, p in v, riding), 18+ MDNI
a/n: had a moment while editing where I almost gave up on this fic and deleted it but I’m pushing thru to post it anyways bc I worked rlly hard on it 🥲 recently been obsessed with this song and couldn’t stop picturing spencer when listening, so obviously I had to write 7k words to get it out of my system. obviously. also had “the way I loved you” in mind from reader’s side of things! if anyone is interested in a part 2 lmk because I’m already kind of itching over it 😶 (p.s. first pic is not indicative of reader’s appearance, just had the right dress!)
It’s been 313 days since the breakup. Spencer knows because he’d counted at first. Then stopped. Then started again.
He wouldn’t be here if not for the occasion — an engagement party for friends. One of those events where absence says more than presence ever could, so he showed up.
Now, he lingers at the edge of the room, half-shadowed by a bookshelf, pretending to care about the drink in his hand. He’d arrived a little late on purpose — a strategic delay. Fewer how’ve-you-beens, fewer questions about whether he’s seeing anyone new or if he’s talked to you. His plan was simple: blend into the perimeter, nod through a toast, and leave early without making a scene.
He hadn’t planned for you.
You walk in fifteen minutes after he does, wearing a dress he’s never seen before and a smile that almost passes for real. Your new boyfriend is beside you.
The thought had crossed his mind, he’ll admit. He met and became friends with the newly engaged couple through you, so there was always a decently high chance you’d be here tonight. But he hadn’t let himself linger on the thought long enough to plan for it, and he especially hadn’t allowed himself to consider the possibility you’d bring a date with you to a party you knew he’d be at. But nothing could’ve prepared him for it anyways. No amount of mental prep would’ve soothed the ache of watching another man’s hand find yours.
At first, Spencer can’t bring himself to look at you directly. But he tracks you in pieces — the tilt of your chin, the curve of your smile, the hand at your waist. The neckline of your dress, dipping just low enough to undo something in him.
You haven’t seen him yet. He’s not ready for when you do.
The room hums — clinking glasses, laughter pitched too loud, someone making a joke about wedding hashtags like it’s the cleverest thing in the world. But none of it reaches him. It all sounds submerged, warped by memory.
One hand tightens around his glass, the other buried in his pocket, fingers curled tight. He’s trying to ground himself, or maybe just keep himself from doing something stupid. Like walking up to you. Like saying your name. Like asking if it’s still his to say.
Spencer knows who your boyfriend is. He’s heard his name dropped casually by mutual friends. He’s done the requisite, ill-advised Google stalk with Garcia’s help. He’s memorized the basics: Ian Lockhart. Works in marketing. Graduated top of his class from UPenn. Youngest of three. Allergic to shellfish.
But that doesn’t stop the question from forming:
Does he truly know you?
Does he know you hate mint in desserts and prefer dark chocolate over the overly-sweetened milk variety? That you dog-ear the pages of whatever you’re reading instead of using bookmarks, even though you own at least fifteen of them? That you sleep with one hand curled under your chin like a child, hum under your breath when you feel safe, get hiccups when you’re anxious, and apologize for things that aren’t your fault?
Does he know the way you sound when you say Spencer’s name?
He hopes not. He hopes so. He doesn’t actually really know what he hopes for.
You’re smiling up at Ian like the weight of the room hasn’t doubled. Like this is just another party, not a place where Spencer’s body remembers every single version of you it ever loved.
And then — you spot him.
Over someone’s shoulder, through the blur of motion and candlelight, your eyes meet Spencer’s.
Something shifts in your face — a memory breaking the surface too fast to hide from. A flicker of something that looks a little like wanting, followed by restraint. You don’t look at him like a stranger. You look at him like before.
You tilt your head — a trace of kindness tugging at your mouth. But it only lasts a second before you turn away.
Spencer can’t breathe.
He’s still stuck in that second. He feels it like a match struck behind his ribs.
—
By the time the first toast of the night is over, you’ve disappeared down the hallway towards the kitchen. Spencer lets his gaze follow you just long enough to punish himself for it.
You still tuck your hair behind your ear the same way you used to, he notices. That quiet, automatic gesture like you’re not even thinking about it. You’ve always done it that way, like muscle memory.
And now he’s thinking about September, nearly three and a half years ago. Your first fall together.
It had been raining that day — that steady kind of rain that makes everything feel like it’s underwater. You’d been sitting on his couch with your legs tucked under you, a book splayed open in your lap, your thumb idly tracing the edge of the page. Spencer was talking too much, as usual. A fact spiral he hadn’t meant to fall into, born out of habit and the way you made the room feel safer somehow just by being in it.
“And there’s this theory,” he’d said, glasses pushed up too high on his nose, hands fidgeting with the frayed edge of the blanket between you, “that we can smell the weather changing — like, literally smell the oils and sugars released by leaves breaking down. That’s why autumn feels so…”
He trailed off, embarrassed, suddenly sprung back into hyper-awareness of how long he’d been speaking. But you just looked at him and smiled, that full-faced kind of smile you didn’t hand out easily. “So you’re saying you can smell fall coming?”
He nodded, sheepish. “Sort of. Yes. And I like it — the smell, I mean. It kind of reminds me of being a kid. Like old books and new pencils and being a person who still thought the seasons changing was like magic. Not that the seasons changed much in Vegas, but… still.”
You laughed. Not a sharp laugh, not mocking, but a delighted one. The kind of laugh that only shows up when someone says something completely true and completely weird and you’re so completely glad they said it.
Spencer looked at you like he didn’t quite know how to process how beautiful you were in that moment. Not just physically (though yes, that too), but emotionally. You didn’t flinch away from his oddities — you leaned toward them. Like maybe you were made of the same quiet strangeness he was.
You closed the book in your lap after folding down the corner of the page and laid it gently on the coffee table. “Tell me more things that remind you you’re a person.”
He blinked. “What?”
“That’s what you meant, right? That the smell of fall makes you feel human. Tell me more things like that.”
He hadn’t realized it, but that’s exactly what he meant. And so he did. All night.
Little things. Soft things. Things no one else ever asked him about. The sound of his mom reading him Chaucer and Kempe when he was still too young to really process what the stories meant. The hot sting of seatbelt buckles in the desert sun. The click of a lamp turning on in a dark room. The way library cards used to be made of paper and crinkle at the corners. The feeling of your hand in his.
You listened like every one of them mattered. And every one of them did, to you at least.
He didn’t remember falling asleep. One minute you were curled beside him on the couch, both your heads tipped toward each other like magnets. The next, the sky outside had gone black and your fingers tangled loosely in the drawstring of his hoodie like you’d nodded off while trying to keep him from drifting too far away.
He never told you this, but when he woke up — before you stirred, before the world returned — he’d studied you. Every tiny detail. The part in your hair. The sleep-creased edge of your cheek. The way your mouth twitched when you dreamed. He counted every last freckle splayed across your cheeks. Drew constellations between them in his mind.
That was the night he knew he’d fallen hopelessly in love with you.
He blinks, and all of the sudden he’s back in the present, back at the party. You’re walking towards your date, two glasses of wine in your hands. The one you hand Ian is red. The one you sip from is white — you’d always preferred a colder, crisper Sauvignon Blanc over a full-bodied Chianti or Merlot.
You glance towards Spencer, and in that look, he swears he can see it. The ghost of that night. The version of you who laughed at the way he thought autumn smelled like #2 pencils and old books. The one that fell asleep easily with your body pressed to his side because you trusted him not to move.
He doesn’t look away.
Not yet.
Someone calls his name across the room and he answers with a vague nod. His body is here, but his mind is hovering somewhere else. Caught in the gravity of your glance, still trying to make sense of the soft exhale it pulled from his lungs.
—
You find him before he can decide to leave.
There’s a stretch of seconds as you weave through the room when Spencer wonders if he’s imagining it. If he’s hallucinating your trajectory out of want.
But no, it’s real. You’re coming toward him — slowly, carefully. Like you don’t trust what might happen when you finally get close.
“Spencer.”
His name falling from your lips still sounds just as gentle as it always had. He straightens. Not because he needs to — he’s never felt like he needs to perform for you — but because his body can’t help but brace when you look at him like that.
“Hi,” he manages, his voice quiet, like too much sound might make the moment collapse. “You look…”
Beautiful isn’t neutral. Radiant is worse.
So he lands on a very lame, very simple, “You look well.”
Your smile tilts, crooked and familiar. “Have you been avoiding me tonight?”
Spencer hesitates. He doesn’t look away, but something in his expression shifts — like he’s been caught doing something he didn’t realize was visible.
“I wasn’t trying to,” he says carefully. “Not intentionally. I just… I thought it was better to keep my distance. I didn’t want to intrude on you and...”
You nod once, like you expected that. You look across the room towards where you’d left Ian.
“He’s getting another drink,” you say, mostly to fill the space.
Spencer only nods. He doesn’t ask about him. He’s already heard enough from others. And what would you say, anyway?
He studies the curve of your wrist as you lift your glass. He used to press his mouth there — absentmindedly, in greeting, in gratitude. He blinks the memory away.
You glance down at your feet, then up again. There’s something almost sheepish about it. “You cut your hair.”
His hand grazes the back of his neck. “Yeah. A while ago.”
“I like it,” you say softly.
There’s no teasing in it. No flirtation. Just something honest. Small and steady, like the thrum of your voice used to be in the mornings, not yet fully awake, legs tangled beneath the covers.
“Thanks,” he says.
Another silence. Not awkward, not exactly. Just… weighted. Like you’re the only two people in it who remember something that’s no longer allowed to exist.
You wet your bottom lip, the way you always do when you’re thinking too hard. Spencer looks away. It feels dangerous to look for too long.
“I saw you on the news last month,” you offer. “That case in Pittsburgh.”
His gaze flicks back to you. “Yeah. That was…” He lets out a sigh. “Long week.”
“You looked tired,” you murmur. “More than usual.”
It’s not an accusation. It’s not even concern, not exactly. Just observation. You always did that — noticed things he didn’t say out loud.
He shifts his weight. “We’ve had worse.”
You nod, but you’re still watching him, seeing right through him. He used to hate that. He used to love it, too.
There’s a long pause. Then, voice soft: “You still forget to eat when you’re anxious?”
Spencer huffs a breath — almost a laugh. “I still forget almost everything when I’m anxious.”
You smile, but it’s a sad thing.
“Your mom still calls me sometimes,” you say so quietly he almost misses it. “Thinks we’re still together.”
His breath catches. “She forgets. I’m sorry. I’ve told her a bunch of times.”
You shake your head, silently telling him the apology isn’t necessary. “She always asks if you’re eating. And if I’m making sure you sleep.”
Spencer nods and swallows, hard. He can’t bring himself to answer right away.
“I never correct her. She’s always so happy when I say yes.”
That lands somewhere deep — deeper than it should. Maybe it’s easier this way. To pretend, in some small corner of the world, you’re still his.
The silence creeps in again, fuller this time. You step an inch closer, not on purpose, not consciously. He doesn’t step back. The space between your arms hums with memory.
There’s a ring on your right pointer finger, the same one you always wore — a vintage, gold band from your grandmother’s jewelry box. Spencer used to twist it mindlessly while you read.
He wonders if you let Ian do that now. He wonders if he even notices it.
“I like the dress,” he says with a nod towards your outfit before he can stop himself. “The color.”
You tilt your head. “You always liked lavender.”
“I still do.”
Internally, you start to wonder: Did you wear it because you knew he’d be here tonight? Subconsciously, did you pick this dress out of your closet with Spencer in mind?
You look down again. Then up. You meet his gaze a second too long, and for a moment, it’s like everything falls away — the party, the boyfriend, the reasons you shouldn’t still care.
Then Ian calls your name from somewhere behind you.
The sound breaks whatever thread had been holding you there. You blink, eyes clearing, and step back half an inch — enough to remind yourselves what year it is. Where you are. What this isn’t anymore.
You glance over your shoulder, then back at Spencer.
“I should—”
“Yeah,” he cuts in gently. “Of course.”
You hesitate. Just for a breath. And then: “It’s really good to see you, Spence.”
Spence. He nods, slow and careful. “You too.”
You walk away. Spencer stays where he is, heart knocking unevenly in his chest, eyes fixed on the place you’d just stood like maybe you’ll return if he waits long enough.
You don’t. But you do turn around, just once, halfway through the room. Your gaze finds his again.
It’s brief, that look. Barely a second. But it says enough:
You remember everything.
—
Somewhere across the room, you laugh.
It’s not at him — Spencer doesn’t know what was said or why it was funny — but it’s the sound that stands out to him. That specific cadence. The one that always tumbled out of you just after midnight when you were tipsy and barefoot and glowing with affection you never tried to ration.
Your hand lands on Ian’s arm, light and familiar, fingers curling just slightly.
And that—
That’s what undoes him.
Because you used to do that to him. You used to touch him like he belonged to you.
Images swirl in his mind — your palm against his skin. That sweater. That night. That look on your face when you pushed him down onto the couch like you didn’t need words to tell him you wanted him. The memory ambushes him, full and bright and dizzying, like it’s been waiting all evening for the right moment to strike.
—
One month into dating, you wore a loose red sweater on a date with Spencer — one that hung off your shoulder and drove him to the edge of restraint. He’d never say it aloud, but that sweater still haunts him. The curve of your collarbone. The bare sliver of skin at your hip when you lifted your arms. The softness of it. Of you.
You hadn’t slept together yet. Spencer had been so careful about it — cautious in that way he always was when something really mattered to him. He wanted to be sure this thing between you was real first (it was). Wanted to be sure you were ready (god, you were). Wanted to be sure he was ready, too.
You’d come back to his apartment after dinner, your thigh pressed against his in the cab, your voice syrupy and laced with secrets, low in his ear: “You gonna keep being shy, or are you gonna do something about it?”
He kissed you the second the front door closed behind you. Harder than he meant to — sloppier, too. But you moaned softly into it and fisted your hands in his jacket like you didn’t want to waste anymore time being polite about this.
It was a little frantic at first. Your back hit the wall. His belt clattered to the floor. You laughed into his mouth, breathless and giddy, hands everywhere — threading through his hair, yanking at his shirt, skimming down the front of his pants like you already knew exactly how he liked to be touched.
He walked you back into the couch, then you took the reigns and pushed him down onto it. You climbed onto his lap, straddling him, grinding down in a slow, devastating rhythm that made his vision blur.
Within minutes, you were undressed from the waist down, the sweater still on. That somehow made it even more intense — or maybe it would’ve been that way regardless, he couldn’t really say for sure. All he knew was the skin of your thighs, the heat of you moving against him, the breathy way you said his name when his hands cupped your ass and pulled you tighter into his lap.
“Spencer,” you gasped, mouth against his jaw. “Please.”
He remembers the exact moment you said it — the way your breath caught, the stutter in your hips, the way your fingers curled at the back of his neck.
You leaned in, pressed your forehead to his, so close he could feel every shake of your inhale. And then, barely above a whisper:
“I’m yours, Spence. Okay? Don’t be gentle.”
And that was it. Spencer Reid — always careful, always afraid of taking too much — finally let go.
That night, he told you he loved you with every part of his body. He didn’t say it out loud, but he knew you heard it anyway.
He fucked you slow and deep from below, gripping your hips as you rode him and matched his rhythm with every grind of your body against his. Not tender, but not rough either — just real. Like every motion was a word he couldn’t bring himself to say out loud. You clung to him, nails pressing into his shoulders, moaning softly as his lips found every part of you he could reach — your throat, your collarbone, the delicate skin just below it. He mouthed at the place your pulse fluttered hardest and stayed there until you broke.
And when you did — when you came around him with his name caught in your throat like something sacred — he followed, buried deep inside you, your name spilling from his lips like a prayer only he knew how to recite.
After, you collapsed on his chest, the red sweater twisted around your ribs, your legs still tangled with his. You were quiet in that way that only happened when you were fully content. One hand traced over the back of his — slow, barely there — like you couldn’t stand to not be touching him, even in sleep.
Meanwhile, he didn’t sleep at all.
Just lay there memorizing you: the shape of your mouth, the curve of your waist, the warmth of your bare skin under the blanket, the rise and fall of your breath.
Spencer had been with others in the past. But he’d never touched someone quite like that before. Never been touched like that either — not with that kind of need or care or want.
And now?
Now you’re across the room with someone else’s arm around your waist, yet he still can’t stop thinking about that night. About your mouth. Your hands. Your voice when you begged him not to hold back.
You catch him looking with a twitch of your lips like you’ve caught a secret.
For a second, he thinks you know what he’s remembering. Maybe you’re remembering it too.
And then, just like that, the moment passes. You look away and turn slightly toward Ian, laughing again — softer this time. But something about it’s off — you smile too quickly, blink too long, seem too practiced.
And god, Spencer feels it now — an ache that starts behind his ribs and spreads. He knows that look. The forced composure. Your tight little nod. The way your shoulders curl inward, just enough to seem invisible.
You’re tired.
Not just from the party or the heels. Not even from the fact that Spencer is here. No, you’re tired in a quiet, cell-deep way. The kind of tired that creeps in when you’ve been holding everything too tightly for too long. He used to see it in your posture before you ever spoke. In the way you’d knead at the back of your neck. In the sound of your keys hitting the kitchen counter just a little too hard.
His whole body aches with the memory of it.
Because he can’t touch your elbow now, can’t draw you into a hallway and press his hand to your spine and ask, Is it bad today? in a voice soft enough to disappear into your skin. He can’t guide you to the couch and take your shoes off for you and rub slow circles into the arch of your foot. He can’t be that version of himself for you anymore.
But he remembers. He remembers it all.
—
You’d had a rough shift.
Spencer knew before you said a word. He heard it in the way your bag hit the floor when you’d walked into his apartment — not thrown exactly, but dropped with too much force. Watched it in the way you kicked off your shoes in the hallway like they’d betrayed you. You didn’t kiss him hello. Didn’t even meet his eyes.
You just paced the kitchen in your scrubs, hands trembling slightly. Your voice cracked when it finally came. “She was just a kid, Spence. She died right in front of me.”
He didn’t answer at first. Just crossed the room, took your phone gently from your hand, and set it down on the counter.
You looked at him like you weren’t sure if he’d understand. Like some part of you expected him to step back.
But then, you broke.
It happened all at once, because panic doesn’t slow down or ask permission. One moment you were upright, breathing, trying — and the next, you were not. Your breath hitched. Your eyes went wide. Your hands clawed at your chest like you needed to open it, like the air in your lungs wasn’t enough.
“I can’t— I can’t—”
“I know, baby,” he said, already reaching.
He slid to the floor with you, back against the cabinets, his body folding around yours to hold you steady. His hands were firm but gentle — one at your shoulder, one at the base of your spine.
“I’ve got you,” he whispered. “You’re okay. You’re right here.”
You let out a single, ragged sob and collapsed against him, clutching his shirt like it was the only thing keeping you from falling through the floor. He didn’t flinch — just tightened his arms around you, voice soft and measured in your ear.
“Five things you can see,” he murmured. “Just try for me.”
You shook your head, breath shallow, shoulders tight. “Can’t.”
“Okay. Okay. Just look, then.” His hand moved slowly along your back. “The floor tile. The fridge magnets. The photo of us in Vegas framed on the wall. That stupid spiky plant you named Steve. Me. I’m right here.”
You gasped — air, finally — and he held you through it.
“You’re not alone,” he said, steady as a heartbeat. “You’re safe. I’ve got you.”
It took seven minutes for your breathing to settle. Even longer for your hands to stop shaking. But he didn’t let go.
Later, when you were curled against his side in bed — voice scratchy, eyes raw — you said it like a confession:
“I’m sorry, Spence. I…I don’t want to be too much.”
He turned toward you and answered without hesitation as he pulled you closer into him.
“There’s no such thing as too much. Not with you.” He pressed a soft kiss to your temple before adding, “You’re just enough, all the time.”
—
The memory lingers long after it fades.
Spencer exhales, slow and shaky, chest tight with the ghost of it — your voice in his ear, your fingers curled into his shirt, the unbearable tenderness of that night on the kitchen floor. He can still feel the imprint of you, sharp as breath in cold air.
When he blinks, the present returns in pieces: music pulsing, voices laughing, people moving all around him. But it’s your absence that hits harder: You’re gone. You’re not near Ian, not near the party hosts, not near anyone. You’ve slipped out of the crowd, vanished discreetly like you always could when your shoulders got too heavy to hold up.
He knows where you’ve gone before he even moves. Knows the way you seek out quiet. Knows the exact rhythm of your retreat.
And so he follows.
—
It’s started to snow.
Not hard — just flurries, soft and inconsistent, the kind that hover before deciding whether or not they want to stick. String lights stretch across the balcony railing, catching in the wind.
You’re alone. Or trying to be, at least.
One hand rests on the railing. Your thumb circles the condensation on your wine glass, which you’ve long stopped drinking from — just holding it now, mostly for the sake of keeping your fingers occupied.
Spencer finds you like gravity. Like an orbit he never quite escaped.
You don’t turn when you hear him step outside. You don’t have to — you already knew he’d be the one to track you down.
The door hushes shut behind him. He doesn’t speak, not at first — just stands there for a moment in the doorway, watching your silhouette outlined against the snow-smeared sky.
You exhale through your nose. “Ian talks too much when he’s nervous.”
Spencer steps closer. “You used to say the same thing about me.”
You look over your shoulder. Not smiling, but not not smiling either. “Yeah. But it was different with you.”
He doesn’t respond, but you hear the way his breath catches. He shrugs out of his jacket without thinking — an instinct time hasn’t yet pulled from him. It’s the same instinct that used to make him drape it over your shoulders on late walks home, or leave it folded at the foot of your bed after an argument, still carrying the shape of his body. He eases it around you gently, and you let him. You hold it closed at the collar with one hand, and for a second, Spencer swears you lean into the warmth of it — the him of it.
“Has it always been this cold in January?” you ask with a laugh, eyes on the city skyline.
Spencer’s quiet for a moment. Then: “Yeah. But I think we just didn’t notice it the last few Januaries. Or at least I didn’t.”
You turn your head to look at him, slowly this time. “Why not?”
His eyes don’t leave yours. “Because I had you.”
And just like that, the wind cuts through the silence between you. You both shiver, but neither of you move.
“Some nights I still wake up thinking I heard your voice,” you say quietly.
He blinks.
“I don’t know what it says. It’s not really words — just… the shape of them. I think my brain fills in the rest.”
Spencer swallows, hard. “What does your brain imagine?”
You shake your head. “All kinds of things, I guess. But it definitely misses how you used to say my name.”
He doesn’t answer right away. His hands twitch at his sides. His throat works around something sharp.
“You know,” he says softly, “I still talk to you sometimes. In my head. I still tell you about cases, and books you’d hate, and little things I see that remind me of you.”
You blink quickly, but not quick enough to hide the sheen in your eyes. “Do I ever answer?”
He nods, his voice rough, a sad smile pulling at his lips. “Yeah. Sometimes you do.”
A beat passes. The snow starts to stick in your hair.
You both move at the same time. Just a half-step closer, your bodies angled toward each other like two halves of the same thought.
His hand brushes your wrist on the railing. Yours lingers at the lapel of his jacket, still clutched around you like armor. Your eyes drop to his mouth then flicker back up. You’re not smiling. Neither is he.
The city exhales around you. Somewhere inside, a champagne cork pops. But it feels like you’re the only two people on the planet.
Spencer leans forward — just barely. His forehead nearly touches yours, close enough to feel your breath warm the space between you. His voice, when it comes, is barely a sound:
“I would’ve done anything to keep you.”
You don’t flinch. You don’t cry. You just whisper, “I know.”
And you do. You know. You’ve always known.
A full minute passes like that. Eventually, you pull back and shrug the jacket from your shoulders, hold it out with an unsteady hand. Spencer takes it slowly, without a word, fingers brushing yours for a half-second too long.
You step towards the door and turn slightly, just enough to get a look at him. “Do you remember the last thing I said to you?”
Spencer watches the snow catch in your hair. “Of course.”
You nod once. “I meant it.” You pause, blink back a tear before adding, “I still mean it.”
You look at him then — really look, as if you’re expecting him to say something in response, but he doesn’t. And so, after one more tremble of hesitation, you’re gone.
Spencer doesn’t go inside right away. He watches the snow collect in the grooves of the railing, in the spaces between bricks on the balcony wall. Watches his breath fog in the air like smoke. He can still smell your perfume on his jacket. Still feel the shape of your voice in his chest.
And god, if you’d asked him, if you’d reached, if you’d said come with me, he would have, without question.
But that’s the thing about moments — they pass. And once they do, all that’s left is the before. And the after.
He presses his palms to the cold railing. Breathes deep. And then, the darkest memory comes.
—
You weren’t angry. That was the worst part.
You were quiet. Controlled. A little too still — like someone who’d already cried in the car then reapplied her makeup and practiced how to sound fine. Spencer had been reading when you showed up, a case file open beside him, a mug of tea cooling untouched on the coffee table.
He hadn’t been expecting you.
But the second he looked up and saw you in the doorway — your jacket still zipped, your eyes dim, your shoulders pulled back like a wall — he knew. Even before you spoke, he knew.
You sat on the edge of the couch without a word. You didn’t take off your shoes. Didn’t reach for his hand. Just stared at him, quietly. Like you were still deciding whether or not to break your own heart.
“I don’t want to do this,” you said softly once you finally got yourself to speak.
Spencer’s breath hitched. “Then don’t.”
But you shook your head, eyes glassy. “It’s not that simple.”
And he felt it then — that slow, precise tear in the fabric of something he thought he could still fix. The moment peeling open like skin beneath a dull blade.
“I love you,” you said. “That hasn’t changed. I need you to know that.”
His lips parted. He said your name — soft, small — like maybe saying it would anchor you both back to solid ground.
But you went on. “I just don’t know how to be with you when you won’t let me in.”
He blinked, confused. “I let you in.”
“No.” You shook your head again, more tired than anything else. “I know you wanted to. And you thought you did. But… you didn’t. Not really.”
Spencer looked down. He knew you were right.
He’d been quietly withdrawing for months — not in big, obvious ways, but slowly. Case after case. Canceled dates, sleepless nights, long silences between texts. Promises made in touches instead of words, apologies offered in the form of forehead kisses and new books and please don’t ask me to talk about it.
You’d stayed anyway.
You kept showing up — with dinner, with warmth, with hope. And he kept failing to reach back the way you needed him to.
He wanted to believe you knew that he loved you, even if he didn’t always know how to say it when the weight got too heavy. But he never really told you where the weight lived. Never let you see what it cost him just to hold it all together.
“It’s not you,” he said, the words spilling out too fast, like they were trying to outrun the inevitable. “It’s just— I’ve been… I’ve been trying not to make it worse.”
Your brows knit in confusion. “Worse?”
“For you,” he said softly. “I didn’t want to drag you into my darkness. I thought… I thought I was protecting you.”
That was the moment something shifted in your face. Not anger. Not even disappointment. Just that quiet kind of grief that comes from loving someone who keeps pointing you to a door without handing you the key.
“I didn’t need protecting, Spencer,” you said. “I just needed you.”
He reached for you then, without thinking. Not to fix it — he already knew it was too late for that — but to hold on to you one last time.
You almost let him, but then you pulled away. The moment had already passed. The truth had already landed.
“I keep waiting for you to let me all the way in,” you whispered. “Keep hoping. Keep thinking if I just love you a little harder, maybe you’d stop holding back.”
He wanted to tell you he never meant to. That he never meant for the silence to feel like distance, or for his grief to become a barrier. But he couldn’t find the words. Couldn’t even lift his eyes to meet yours.
“I didn’t realize you felt that way,” he choked out.
“I know. That’s the worst part.”
And then — like a wound coming undone at the seam — you stood.
He stood too — reflexive, as if maybe just the movement would change your mind. But you were already reaching for your bag, already curling into yourself, one arm tucked across your ribs like you were barely holding your body together.
“I’m sorry,” you said. “I can’t do this anymore. I need to feel like I can breathe again.”
He nodded. Because what else do you do when the person you love more than anything else in the universe is asking you to let them go?
You turned toward the door and took a few strides before hesitating and looking back.
Spencer was still standing there, frozen in place, eyes red and rimmed with tears, shoulders hunched like he was trying to make himself smaller — like if he could just shrink the hurt, maybe you’d stay.
You reached into your coat pocket and pulled out a key — your key to his place, the one you’d already taken off your keychain as you cried in the car. You set it down on the entry table, and your fingers lingered over the shape of it for a second too long before pulling back and reaching for the door.
You steadied yourself enough to speak, but your voice still broke as you did. The kind of words that echo louder once the silence sets in:
“I’ll love you forever, Spencer. Even if I have to do it from far away.”
Despite your best efforts, you froze once more before you could bring yourself to step outside. “I’ll never stop,” you added in a whisper.
Then the door closed behind you.
—
The snow’s falling heavier now. Slow, deliberate flakes, shapeless against the sky.
Spencer stays outside long after the cold has sunk into his hands, long after the balcony door clicks shut behind him. Somewhere behind the glass, people are laughing. A new song is starting. But all of it feels miles away.
You’d asked him — softly, like it might break if you said it too loud:
“Do you remember the last thing I said to you?”
He’d thought it was just nostalgia. A prompt for some shared memory, a fragment you wanted him to hold with you for a final moment before moving on.
But it wasn’t.
You weren’t asking if he remembered — no. You were asking if he still believed you.
I’ll love you forever. I’ll never stop.
I still mean it.
He grips the railing tighter. Because now he understands: you weren’t reaching back into a memory. You were reaching towards him. Tentatively. Hopefully. Asking if it still means anything. If it’s still real.
You’ve moved on, at least that’s what you tell yourself. Maybe Ian — solid, safe Ian — is more than just a placeholder. Maybe it’s still the wrong time for you and Spencer. But maybe some small, stubborn part of you is still tethered to him by a thread neither of you has had the courage to cut.
Maybe that look you gave him tonight wasn’t just nostalgia. Maybe it was permission. Or forgiveness. Or both.
Maybe it’s not too late.
Or maybe it is.
But maybe — just maybe — if he reaches, you’ll reach back.
And for the first time in 313 days, Spencer can’t bring himself to just wonder from afar.
He needs to find out.
—
The warmth of the party hits him too fast once he steps back inside.
It's jarring, like surfacing through ice. Noise and light and heat pressing in on all sides.
He moves before he knows where he’s going. Not calmly. Not with logic. Just instinct — pulled forward like a tide. Past the hallway. Past the bar. Past an acquaintance calling his name.
He’s scanning the crowd now with something closer to desperation than hope. Looking for the lavender of your dress, the curve of your mouth, the shape of a future he once held in both hands.
He thinks he sees your hair by the fireplace, but it isn’t you. Just someone with the same soft tilt of the head. Another not-you in a sea full of not-yous.
He checks the hallway. A guest bedroom. The stairwell. The far end of the kitchen.
You’re not there. You aren’t anywhere.
The edges of the room start to blur. For a moment, he thinks he’s too late. Thinks maybe you’ve already slipped through his fingers for good.
But then — he sees you.
Near the front door, coat draped over your arm, ready to leave. Ian’s standing beside you, saying something low near your ear. You’re nodding, distracted. Your fingers tighten around your purse strap.
Spencer stops moving.
His whole body goes still — like someone hit pause mid-scene. Like the universe has given him one last, final frame to memorize you before you’re gone.
He could go to you. Reach for you and pull you into him, Ian be damned. Say your name. Tell you the truth — that it’s been 313 days since you left and he’s loved you for every single one of them. That when you turned to him on the balcony and said I still mean it, he should’ve said I never stopped, either.
But he doesn’t.
Because the part of him that’s always loved you best — the part that curled around you on the kitchen floor, the part that kept you at a distance thinking it was safest — knows what it means to protect someone.
And sometimes it means letting you walk away, even when it feels like it might kill him.
So he stays where he is. Doesn’t speak. Doesn’t move.
He just watches.
Watches the way you pause at the door like something intangible is tugging at you. Watches the moment your head turns, as if your muscles knew he was there before your heart could catch up.
Your eyes meet Spencer’s across the foyer, and for a second, the rest of the world vanishes.
Neither of you smiles. Neither speaks.
But everything is said.
It’s in the way your mouth parts like you might call his name and then don’t. In the way you look at him like you remember it all. Like you never stopped remembering. Like you never stopped wanting.
He wants to go to you. God, he does. It takes every ounce of strength in him to hold back.
And after one long, fragile heartbeat, you look away and leave with Ian’s hand pressed against your back.
The door closes softly behind you. Spencer doesn’t move.
He watches the snow blur the windows. Watches the space you left behind.
And in the quiet, he holds it all. The ache. The memories. The weight of a love he never stopped carrying. The feeling of caring so deeply for someone from the outside of a life that used to be his.
Because that’s what he is now — an outsider.
Not your partner. Not your future.
Just some protector.
And maybe — for now — that can be enough.

Landoscar- Losing your bags at the airport (1.7k words)
Hello all! This is based off that one tweet about Lando losing his bags at the airport and Oscar staying with him. Disclaimer- I know nothing about airports, all of this was google searched stuff, so go easy on me. (I made it an American airport because dealing with a language barrier was too complicated lol) It's mostly fluff, but I suppose a bit of angst?
Also, this is my first fic I'm posting online, so please be kind ❤️
Lando sighed loudly, blowing hair out of his face as he exhaled. He wasn’t the biggest fan of airports by principle. They’re boring, the lines are long, and the whole thing seems so much bigger than it needs to be. But it’s kind of a necessary part of his job, so he’d mostly gotten used to waiting for stupid amounts of time at airports.
But this is just kinda ridiculous. He and Oscar had been waiting for Lando’s suitcase to show up at baggage claim for… well he didn’t know how long it had been, but it was longer than he’d ever had to wait before. Even worse, Oscar’s bag had practically been the first to get dumped out onto the carousel, because of course it had. They were going to the hotel together, so Oscar was staying with him. The Aussie was on his phone, sitting on his suitcase and texting someone. Lando hated the silence, so he tore his eyes away from Oscar’s gorgeous side profile and yawned.
“This is taking foreverrr,” he said, stretching from his place crouched on the floor.
“It’s been ten minutes,” Oscar corrected, not once looking up from his phone.
“Screen-ager,” Lando decided to retaliate. Oscar looked up now, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment clear on his face. Lando looked back to the baggage carousel, satisfied by getting a reaction out of the younger man.
Oscar cleared his throat. “How about we just wait a few more minutes and then go to the baggage desk.”
“Huh?”
“The baggage desk. Where you go if you lose your luggage. It’s right there.” He pointed, and sure enough, back against the wall and a few carousels down was a little front desk-looking thing, with neon letters spelling out ‘Baggage Desk’ above it.
“Oh,” Lando mumbled, adjusting his hat.
“I’ll just tell Zak we’ll be a bit later than expected,” Oscar said, giving Lando a blinding smile that made his stomach twist with that complicated more-than-just-a-crush feeling he preferred not to think about. He hummed in response, fiddling with his hoodie strings.
After a few more minutes, everyone that had been on their flight (aka about half the Mclaren crew, including Zak and Andrea who had ditched them first chance they got) had left, and Lando was getting more and more stressed out. He was biting his lip and running his hands through his hair repeatedly, imagining practically every worse-case scenario. What if his suitcase got on the wrong flight? What if there was something bad in there he didn’t realize and they wouldn’t let him get his stuff? What if some rando took his stuff?
He didn’t realize Oscar was talking to him until a hand waved in front of his face. He looked to his teammate who was already staring at him worriedly.
“Hey, you okay?” he asked, resting his hand on Lando’s arm. Lando managed a small, likely unconvincing nod.
Oscar let go of his upper arm with a gentle squeeze, and Lando might just melt away at the spot. “Well, I was asking you if you wanted to go to the baggage desk and ask about your suitcase?”
Lando nodded again and stood, walking away before even giving Oscar a chance to do so as well. He felt a bit bad as he heard Oscar scramble upright and start pulling his suitcase behind him, but it had been a long day and he really just needed to collapse into his hotel room now.
He reached the desk and made eye contact with a short woman, her long brown hair tied up in a low ponytail and wearing official looking clothes, who was standing near the back of the small room. She rushed forward and sat down in a swivel chair, pushing her glasses up.
“What’s your issue, dearie?” she said in a strong Southern accent, only slightly muffled by the thick glass separating them.
“Uh, can’t find my bag. Didn't show up,” he said with a guilty smile. He tried to turn on his charm as much as possible, his train of thought being, Maybe if I’m nice she’ll be nice back and then I can go to bed quicker.
“Alright love. Name?”
“Lando Norris,” he said. Oscar had reached him by now, standing so close to his side that their shoulders were almost brushing against each other.
The lady did some typing on her computer, then let out a little tsk sound in the back of her throat. “I’m sorry, it seems like your luggage got sent to the wrong place. We’re trying to get it here as we speak.”
Lando shot a glance back to Oscar, who raised his eyebrows. “Do you know what happened?” he asked the lady. He looked at the pin on her shirt, which said her name was Charlotte. Huh, she didn’t look like a Charlotte.
Charlotte gave a shrug in response. “Could’ve been anything. My guess, there wasn’t enough space in the cargo hold on your plane. It got placed on the wrong extra-storage space, and got sent somewhere else. You’ll have to wait until it gets here. That might take a while.”
Lando worked hard to suppress a groan. “Okay. Thanks.” He tried for a smile that ended up more like a grimace.
“You two can sit in one of those chairs on the right while you wait,” Charlotte said with a sympathetic smile. Lando turned to his right and flopped into a chair. At least they were cushioned.
This night was turning shitty fast. He just wanted to sleep, was that too much to ask? And what was even more awful about this was that Oscar had to stay with him.
“Sorry about this,” he told his friend, who looked at him confused.
“Why? It’s nothing you could control.”
“Yeah, I guess. It’s just…” he trailed off, not sure how to explain that somehow he was blaming himself for this. No, he’d never tell Oscar that, he’d think he was weird. The edge of Lando’s eyes were starting to water with tears, and he wanted to scream. You’re such a baby. What’s your problem? Bury it, you can’t do this right now. Crybaby.
“Hey, Lando, it’s okay,” Oscar said, reaching out with one hand. He touched Lando’s shoulder tenderly. “I don’t mind.”
Lando hugged his legs to his chest and buried his head in his knees. “I’m just having a bad day,” he mumbled, and for a second he wasn’t sure if Oscar heard him.
“That’s alright,” Oscar said, and he let go of Lando’s arm. Lando didn’t even get a chance to mourn the loss of contact though, because then Oscar’s arm was wrapping around his shoulders and gently tugging him closer. Lando practically fell onto his chest, and could feel his cheeks reddening.
“This okay?”
“Uh, yeah.”
“You can rest. You know, if you want. I know you’re tired.”
“Will you wake me up when my suitcase shows up?”
“Mm-hmm,” Oscar hummed, and Lando let himself sink into his embrace, their breaths and heartbeats syncing. Oscar was really cuddly, he thought as he drifted off.
# # #
“Hey, Lando, wake up.”
Osc, Lando thought and smiled. “Wake up, Lando.” Then someone was gently pushing his shoulder, and he blearily opened his eyes.
He took in his surroundings with a moment of slight confusion before remembering. The airport. His bags. Crying. Oscar.
“Hey, sleepyhead,” the man in question said, and Lando swore he felt his fingers brushing through his curls. “C’mon, your stuff got here.”
A part of Lando wanted to jump up and start doing a victory dance on the spot. The annoyance of getting up overruled it though. He was so comfy.
Wait, where exactly was he? He knew he was at the airport, but this was way too comfy for a chair. His eyes flickered around trying to figure it out, and oh God he was in Oscar’s lap. He quickly sat up, using his hands to push himself upright. However, he didn’t account for where he was putting his hands, and ended up putting half of his weight on Oscar’s thigh. Oscar let out a little grunt of pain, wincing.
“Oh shit, sorry sorry sorry,” Lando hurriedly apologized, backing up.
“No no, you’re fine,” Oscar reassured him, but his voice was strained. He looked at Lando with a smirk. “Are you trying to sabotage me, Lando Norris?”
“I’m sorry!”
Oscar just giggled and stood. He reached a hand out to Lando, who took it. He used his free hand to grab his suitcase and took off confidently to the left, not releasing his tight grasp on Lando’s hand.
“Uh, where are we going?” Lando asked, desperately trying to stop the stupid butterflies rising in his stomach. God he was so childish, they were literally just holding hands. But they were holding hands.
“To get your bag. Obviously.”
With no further explanation, he proceeded to get dragged through what felt like half the airport. Not that he minded. Every once in a while Oscar would look back and give him a trademark Osc Smile that made his insides turn to mush, so that made up for the mystery part pretty well.
Finally they reached their destination, some obscure part of the airport. A few official people gave him his suitcase along with many apologies and a crap ton of airline points (not that those were especially helpful to him, Mclaren paid for most of his flights anyways. It was a nice gesture though.) He accepted the apologies quickly, not wanting to drag out this process any longer than necessary.
Then they were in a taxi headed to their hotel, and the exhaustion was coming back ten-fold.
“Tired?” Oscar asked once Lando had yawned for the fifth time.
“Just a bit,” Lando quipped.
“Want to sleep again?”
“You’re fine with it?”
“Of course.”
Lando hesitantly let his head fall on Oscar’s shoulder. Oscar’s arm found its way around his shoulders again.
Just before Lando fell asleep again, he felt a feather-light kiss pressing against his head, and he scooted closer to Oscar with a sigh.

pairing: charles leclerc x supermodel!reader
charles has a big crush on world renowned supermodel, y/n l/n. who would’ve thought she’d return the feelings.
notes: very much travis kelce x taylor swift inspired. faceclaim is yasmin wijnaldum! btw i try to improve with each post (like how i write/pace the story) so if you have any suggestions, pls (veryvery kindly) tell me!! :))
disclaimer: SORRY FOR TYPOS. GOOGLE TRANSLATE (and from american high school lol) FRENCH. KYM ILLMAN MENTIONED LOL. none of the information in this social media au is factual. i do use old photos of charlotte and charles, and usually i don't like to include pictures of their ex or current gfs in these fics (only bc i want to keep it as imaginative as possible and i feel like adding them kinda gives you a reality check while reading LOL) so lmk your opinions on that!

↳ user no literally like no shade to bella, kendall, and them but y/n had to fight tooth and nail to be here
↳ user frrr bc most of the nepo baby models are great, don’t get me wrong. however, they were allowed to make mistakes during their career in order to improve. y/n was not privileged enough to have that. like ppl don’t understand the insane expectations that were placed on her ever since she entered the industry, but she exceeded those expectations every. single. time. and that’s why she deserves this title
user she’s so beautiful
user i would die for y/n
user nothing could describe the amount of affection i have for this woman omfg

PROFESSOR STEIN x F!READER

[a/n: sorry sorry! i'm falling behind...my motivation is waning BUT i am determined to finish this series so here's what should've been posted yesterday on my birthday ! professor stein will always be so fucking hot in my eyes...he can tie me down and dissect me any day lol anyways, once again: my use of the term 'little' has nothing to do with any body size or weight, this fic is also a little more on the 'plus size reader' side, sorry it just came out that way, i also dropped the ball and made him an ethics teacher instead of a bio/chem teacher like i originally thought...i blame @gojonanami and her amazing professor suguru series...i'm obsessed !!🫶🏼]

WARNINGS: teacher/student dynamic (OF AGE), power dynamic, age gap, "shy" reader, skewed descriptions of ethics cause i googled and read like two things, sir kink, hair pulling, cowgirl, stein bends you over his desk, mating press, breeding kink, creampie, no use of y/n, reader is called: bunny, sweetheart, good girl, sweet girl, honey
“You need my measurements?” You asked, not sure if you heard him right. “What for?”
“Well for your outfit, of course.” He chuckled, finding it amusing that you had already forgotten what the two of you had spoken about.Especially when your confusion led to a small lull of silence on the line.
“Oh…oh right! Right, the whole school girl thing…uh okay-” You rattled them out and he wrote them down, scrolling through the website on his laptop to try and find the right look for you.
When you two finally met, you were pleased with the tasteful outfit he had chosen. It looked like a legitimate look you’d wear to school. The light brown plaid skirt was paired with a white button up, a knit sweater vest, sheer pantyhose and brown loafers.
He was sat behind a gorgeous mahogany desk, a small smile on his lips. “Have you ever done a scene like this?” You were flicking through the short script he had given you…more of a guideline really.
“Uhmm n-no, not as in depth as this or with a partner. I did it for a live cam once…” You blushed, feeling somewhat insecure beneath his gaze.
Stein was one of the more seasoned creators on the platform. His production quality was always high and his scenes balanced with both porn and plot. He was also extremely attractive. His dyed silver locks framed his face beautifully, his eyes reminded you of green sea glass as they sat behind his silver eyewear and his build…God. He was tall and lean with broad shoulders and thick arms. His hands were big, lithe fingers just the right amount of thickness, knuckles prominent against his smooth, pale skin.
Not to mention the age gap between the two of you…the power dynamic was going to be a little more believable when he was 14 years older than you.
“You ready, sweetheart?”
“Mhmm, yes…Professor.”
And so, you stepped out of his office. Standing at the door for a good minute or two before rapping your knuckles against the shining wood.
“Come in!” His voice was muffled but you took your cue and pushed the door open, making sure to shut it softly behind you. “Ah, bunny! Come on in, have a seat.” He gestured to the cushioned seat in front of his desk. His smile was soft as you stood by the door for a few moments before finally moving.
“R-Right. Thank you, P-Professor.” You gingerly sat in the seat, back straight and stiff as you tugged the hem of your skirt.
“So, what brings you to my office hours, hmm?”
“Uhm well, I-I hate to admit it but I’ve been h-having a little trouble with our uhm, our new unit…”
“Oh! Well, no need to be embarrassed, Kantism is a challenging subject. What exactly were you having trouble with?”
“Categorical imperatives…” You shift your eyes away, cheeks flushing.
“I see…well-” He starts to ramble on with the definition, rubbing his chin as he did so and you found it difficult to not stare at his fingers. “-does that make sense?”
You blink yourself out of your daze before nodding, “I-I’m following.”
A subtle smirk tugs his lips as he continues. “Kant also says that there are three different moral actions-” You wring your hands in your lap, playing up the nervous, jumpy act. As he continues to explain how utilitarianism plays a part in this subject, you tune back in. “That should be a bit more clarifying for you.” You nodded eagerly. “Did you have any other questions? Kant or otherwise?”
“Y-yes actually.” You bit your lip, eyes widening as you clarified. “Not-not about Kant! I uhm…I was hoping to ask about some…extra credit opportunities?” He frowned, head tilting to the side. “My uhm, my grade isn’t where I-I’d like it to be…” You trailed off, eyes dropping to read the name placard displayed on his desk. He turns to his laptop, ‘typing and scrolling’ before the tension in his forehead releases. “Ah, a B- isn’t so bad, is it?”
“W-Well no but I…I would like to keep my grade point average and grad-graduate summa cum laude…”
“Hmm right, right…an understandable goal.” He closed his laptop, adjusting his glasses on the bridge of his nose. “Has my unit been so difficult that you’re falling behind? Is everything alright?” The slight twinge of concern in his voice made your thighs clench. Something that did not go unnoticed.
“I’m sorry, Professor. I just seem to be dis-distracted…lately.” Your confession leaves him amused and you with bright, flushed cheeks.
“Distracted?” He leans forward, elbows resting on the top of the desk, his chin in his palm. “I see…is it a boy, perhaps?”
“N-No!” You grip the fabric of your skirt. “No…I uhm-I’m not seeing any-anyone.”
His eyebrows jump. “Really? Forgive me for saying so but, surely you have boys throwing themselves at you?”
A quiet, almost nervous laugh leaves your lips. “Yeah…n-no. Not that I’d really want the attention from guys here…guys my age, they uhm…well, they tend to be vulgar and simple minded.”
“Hmm, yes, I suppose you’re right.” A silence lingers after his words. “A pretty, intelligent little thing like you should be treated with reverence.”
Your eyes widen to the size of saucers, squeaking out a, “Professor…”
“Ah right, forgive me. That was highly inappropriate”. He sighed. “So, extra credit…I usually don’t make it a habit to offer it, since students use it as an excuse to lag behind-” He catched how your lips drop into a pout, eyes glistening with unspoken pleas. “But, if you tell me what’s been so distracting as of late, maybe we can come up with a solution to help you out, hmm? You’re a bright student and I’d hate to be the reason you lose your sheen.”
You shake your head with earnest. That’s the worst thing you could do…how could you possibly tell him that-
“There’s no need to be shy, hmm? We’re both adults here and I’ve been teaching for years, I’m sure I can stomach it.”
You mumble out a reason, as quiet and jumbled as you could, hoping to God that he’d give up and drop the subject. Your eyes trained in your lap in fear that you might give it away. Your deepest, darkest, secret…
He stands, rounding the desk and leaning on the edge of it. Gently but firmly, he grips your chin and forces you to meet his gaze. “I’m sorry, dear. I didn’t quite catch that…” His thumb caressed the skin below your bottom lip and you had to fight the urge to tilt your head down and take his digit between your lips.
“S’you…s-sir.”
“I’m sorry, come again?”
“It’s you, s-sir!” And oh, the way your lips wrapped around the honorific made his dick twitch against his slacks.
“Is that right?” He felt like a fox playing with his dinner, the way your wide eyes stared up into his, begging to be devoured whole.
“Y-yes…”
He gripped your chin tighter, ignoring the whine that left your throat as he growled a hoarse. “Yes, what?”
“Yes sir!”
“Hmm good…” He sneered. “What exactly is it about me that’s so distracting?” He hummed, removing his hand from your chin, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Y-You can’t ask-ask me something like that…”
He chuckled, “Of course I can…and I expect an answer.” His eyes darkened lustfully. “So tell me, bunny. What’s distracting?”
You fidgeted in your seat, fingers clenching the fabric of your skirt again. “Uhm…y-your voice…your hands-”
He found it hard to resist a scoffed laugh and in the blink of an eye he stood behind you, leaned over just above your shoulder. “You like my voice?” His lips brushed against the shell of your ear, his silky voice sending shivers down your spine and a rush of heat to your core. “Do you rewatch my lectures when you’re in your room? Touch that pretty pussy to the sound of my voice, hmm?” His lips pressed a feather light kiss behind your ear as you whined and as he trailed down your neck, the messier they got. His lips were surprisingly soft, massaging the sensitive skin at the hollow of your neck.
You tilted your head back against his shoulder, opening yourself up to him. “Why don’t you show me.” He reached around the sides of the chair and roughly gripped your thighs watching as your flesh squished between his fingers, splitting your legs open for him and before you could even think to protest, a loud rip! filled the office. He had torn the crotch of your sheer pantyhose to reveal your soaked panties. “Is this all for me? You’re soaked…” He tsked, pushing your panties aside and tugging your folds open, caressing your pulsing clit with barely there touches.
“Mhmm, all-all for you, sir…s’yours, all yours.” You keened at his gentle touches, hips twitching and desperate for more friction.
“Then be a good girl and show me how you touch yourself to my voice.” You replaced your hands with his, starting to circle your bud in slow, soft circles, a drawn out moan leaving your glossed lips.
“Good girl…” He purred. “Now suck on my fingers, show me how much you love my hands…that’s it.”
You wrapped your lips around his fingers, tongue swirling around his cold digits in earnest before taking them deeper into your mouth, gagging softly when his fingertips met the back of your throat before pulling back and taking them back in.
As you began to bob your head on his fingers, he couldn’t help pawing himself through the front of his gray slacks. His precum, no doubt staining the front of the fabric. “Oh look at you! Such a shy and prude girl, getting herself off while choking on her Professor’s fingers…fuck.” Your thighs twitched as you neared your first orgasm, sucking on his fingers bringing you more arousal than you thought possible.
“Don’t even think about it.” He almost snarled, shoving his fingers roughly to the back of your throat. Your shoulders jolting as a particularly harsh gag wracked through your body. “Put your hands by your side.” Reluctantly, you did as instructed and he pulled his fingers from your mouth, giving your poor lungs a reprieve.
As you attempted to catch your breath, he wrapped your hair around his fingers and pulled roughly, the action pulling you up from your seat before he was shoving you towards his desk. “Ahh! P-Professor!” With his fist still tugging at your locks, he bent you over and pushed your head down against the desk, your cheek landing harshly on a notebook and a few stray papers.
“I’ve got to say…you’ve been quite the distraction as well. Always sitting in the front of my class, chewing on your lips or your pens-” He unbuckled his belt, popping his trousers open and letting them drop down around his thighs. “Always in your cute little outfits and short skirts.” He flipped your skirt over your ass. “I’ve dreamed of having you bent over my desk, creaming all over my cock.” He stroked himself a few times before tapping his heavy tip against your stocking covered ass.
Not being able to help it, you wiggle your hips tauntingly. He groaned, “Oh just look at you…” He muttered before grasping the base of his cock and lining himself up with your entrance.
Your nails dug into the wood of the desk as he pushed himself in. Entranced with the way you seemed to be sucking him in, inch by agonizing inch, your poor pussy being stretched to accommodate his girth. You tried to push yourself further up the desk in an attempt to get respite from his sweltering length.
“Nuh uh…don’t run, sweet girl. Don’t run…” He roughly gripped your hips and pulled you back onto him, sheathing himself entirely in your warm, gummy walls. “Stay right there.”
Stein was brutal, bullying his dick into you repeatedly, meeting your womb in a deliciously painful kiss so much so that you lost track of time. “S’too much! T-Too…much!”
Completely ignoring your cries, he snapped his hips once more and stilled them against your behind, pulling you with him as he sat in the chair you had been previously sitting in, situating you on his lap.“You wanted extra credit, right?”
“Y-Yes sir…but-”
“Then put in the work, bunny.” He brought his hand down in a rough slap against your ass cheek. “Show me how much you deserve that A.”
Arching your back, you leaned forward and rested your hands on the tops of his thighs. Taking a deep breath, you lifted yourself slowly. Making it only halfway up before dropping yourself back down. It only took two thrusts before your legs were threatening to give out. The pleasure was overwhelming, Steins low moans and grunts only adding fuel to the fire.
“S-Stein! I’m- M’gonna…!” You dropped back down on his length, back hunching over as your orgasm ripped through your entire body, mind reeling as you completely forgot to play up the whole ‘sir’ thing while Stein’s grip tightened around your waist so you didn’t fall over.
Stein brushed your hair over your shoulder, pressing gentle kisses to the nape of your neck, tongue licking up the salty perspiration gathered there. “Shhh…shh, that’s a good girl…I made you feel that good, hmm?”
A delirious giggle left your lips as you let Stein pick you up, inhaling sharply as he pulled out of you, your release dripping down his, still painfully hard, cock and onto the trimmed blonde hair at its base.
Gaining a second wind, you shoved his name placard and a few other things aside before sitting on his desk, reaching for the hem of your sweater vest and tugging it off over your head along with your button up shirt and mindlessly tossing it aside. He watched hungrily as you kicked off your skirt and widened your thighs, the heels of your loafers resting on the edge of his desk. Your folds were dripping with arousal, your skin flushed and puffy as you clenched around nothing.
“C’mon Professor, don’t keep your favorite student waiting…”
Scoffing, he shrugged his tweed jacket off and you started to salivate. His mock neck shirt was short sleeved and tight. Almost like it was painted on him. His biceps bulged deliciously against the thin fabric, the urge to run your tongue across the veins running down his arms was strong but you held onto whatever self control you had left and waited for him to make his way between your legs.
“And who said you were my favorite student?” A wet slap! slap! echoed his words as he tapped his tip against your clit.
“You do this with all your students then?” You whined. “That’s no fair…” A pout tugged at your lips.
He laughed softly, leaning down to capture your lips in a tender embrace, biting your bottom lip before pulling away. “I’m just teasing, bunny. You are, by far, my favorite…student.” He punctuated his statement by snapping his hips forward and burying himself into your sloppy core.
“Ah-!” You lost your balance and landed onto the desk with a soft thump against the wood. He gripped the bottom of your thighs and pushed your legs up and folding you in half, straight into a mating press. The fabric of your pantyhose tightening against your skin.
His desk creaked with each of his heavy thrusts, scraping against the hardwood floor once or twice. “God, it was like this cunt was made for me! She’s swallowing me up so well…so warm…n’wet!”
Your eyes rolled back in your head, the press he had you in made it feel like he was quite literally rearranging your insides, your mind quickly growing fuzzy and clouded with thoughts of his huge, thick cock and the way his scent enveloped you entirely as he leaned over to plant kisses down your neck, no doubt sucking marks into it.
Stein felt himself twitch inside you as he gazed down at you. Your face was screwed up in pleasure, lips glossy with spit and parted as moans and whimpers fell from your lips. “Let me see those pretty eyes, honey. Come on.” Your eyelids fluttered open, lined with tears and the pretty color of your iris was swallowed up by your blown out pupils, hazy with euphoria.
He shifted your hips and slipped deeper into you, if it was even possible, and found that spot that made you see stars. You fought to keep your eyes on him as you became consumed by one thing only. Your second orgasm.
“Fuck…I-” He whimpered as you clamped down around him. “I-I’m gonna cum…” He groaned, attempting to keep a steady pace to bring you over the edge with him. “Where-?” He grunted, choked with pleasure.
“Inside me, please! I want- fill me up, sir…p-please -!” Your mouth dropped open in a silent scream, your release shaking your body, thighs burning as your legs shook. Overstimulation creeping up on you as he chased his end.
“Want me to breed this pretty little cunt? Huh? Make you a momma for extra credit?”
“Y-Yes! Yes!” You started to babble, a few tears slipping down your cheeks.
His moans became hoarse, desperate whimpers, hips twitching before he stilled in you. Balls tightening as he emptied his load into you. A full, warm feeling taking over your body as your chest heaves to catch your breath.
He pulled out with a hiss, watching his spend trickle out of you before fucking it back into you with his fingers, laughing softly as you whimpered. Your hips twitch to get away from him, and he apologizes.
“M’sorry bunny, don’t want it to go to waste…” He then eased your legs down around his waist, massaging his fingertips into your tense skin. He watched in amusement as you leaned forward, lips pursed subtly and he met your lips. Exchanging a few kisses before easing you to sit up and wrapping his arms around you, cuddling you into his chest.
“I’d say that’s earned you an A+...”
You cackled against his chest. “Yeah, it better have.”

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIMOTHY JACKSON DRAKE!! ANOTHER YEAR OF BEING 17 WHOOP WHOOP!
I’ve only known he existed for a little over a year but Tim Drake as a character very literally changed my life.
I was in a rather weird place in my life, stuck in a job I felt nothing for and no real interests besides the usual (gaming, anime, you know the drill) and a comic I felt no real joy in making at the time. Then I got into the Danny Phantom fandom. While there I realized A LOT of the fics were Batman crossovers (which, at the time, was my least favorite superhero of all time believe it or not). Reluctantly I decided to read it and had some funny first-time misconceptions (Nightwing? Is that a nickname for Batman? Wait but Nightwing and Batman are talking to each other here, let me google— who is this latex wearing man. Wait the FIRST Robin? THERE WAS MORE THAN ONE?!)
I remember slowly getting more interested in the whole thing and even writing a crossover myself that got wildly popular for absolutely no reason (well it did play into every at-the-time popular cliche lol) and then…. i realized this Red Robin kid fit my usual “favorite character” mold. Spent long amounts of time being incredibly lonely, mentally unstable, covers up likely depression and parent issues (abandonment) with whackiness. So I started reading and reading and reading and (comic nerds will get so mad at me for this) fell platonically in love with (fanon) Tim Drake! I just wanted to dissect his mind, figure out why he was just…. Like THAT.
So reignited my interest in psychology, which, after an injury made my work unfeasible for me to do for a long time, I decided to pursue.
I decided to go for applied psychology too, although it did not exactly pan out… so instead I went for Social Work which I will be starting in September.
Without Tim Drake, I would likely have stuck with my old job even though I was injured, and probably made it worse.
I made friends in this new community I found and have been creating many fun stories!
All in all, thanks Tim Drake for being an unhinged, lonely little shithead, and thank all of you for being a wonderful community!

Be so fr rn, where do you find the time and motivation to write so many fics holy crud. The amount you put out with the same exact care and quality put into each sentence is baffling. And I’m over here scratching my head at how you mega bug brain is so bluetoothed to your fingers just clacking away 😭😭
Totally valid question lol. I actually had someone else ask me something similar, so I'll link that here.
The best way I can put this is that fanfiction is a full-time hobby for me. While I work, do all the adult shit I need to do, spend time with family and friends, I fill all the gaps with fanfic.
When I'm not attached to my desktop or at the library typing away on my laptop, you'll find me on Google Docs on my phone while I'm waiting in line at the grocery store or sitting in the waiting room at the doctor's office. In my car, if an idea comes to me, I'll dictate through bluetooth.
Fanfic is just a constant companion in my life because I'm (1) passionate about writing and (2) enjoy the act of creating something. Fanfiction is a valid art form, and regardless of all the shit that's happening to it (plagiarism / AI / censorship, etc.) I will continue to chug along and do what I love because it makes me happy. That keeps me motivated.

So I got some inspiration from the latest episode of Abbott Elementary and wrote ‘Mine’ part 11! There is Sweet Cheeks in this as I couldn’t resist as Mel being all motherly over him was probably the cutest thing ever! Also this fic has led to Google “how do Guinea Pigs mate?” , something I thought I would never Google and yet I have, lol. Not edited in the slightest and I hope you like it!
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 12
Mine - Part 11
Warnings: None
Words: 3.1k
“Mamma!” Amelia yells and that wakes Melissa up. She opens her eyes and sees you there and all her 3 kids were on the bed. “Happy Birthday Mamma!” Amelia exclaims and jumps into Melissa’s arms and Melissa catches her daughter.
“Well isn’t this a wonderful birthday surprise.” Melissa says and gives Amelia a big kiss on her cheek and Amelia giggles.
“We all made you a card.” You tell her and hand her a piece of paper.
“It’s all of our handprints. I even made Mommy do it.” Amelia tells Melissa.
“This is the best card I’ve ever seen, thank you everyone.” Melissa says.
“Mamma.” Nico says and Melissa looks at him.
“Aw, my beautiful boy.” She says and picks Nico up and gives him a kiss.
“Mamma! Guess what?” Amelia says and Melissa looks at her.
“What?”
“Sweet Cheeks and his girlfriend had the babies!” Amelia tells her and Melissa’s eyes widen before she gives Nico to you, picks Amelia up and runs downstairs to the Cheeks family cage.
“Oh my god, they’re so tiny.” Melissa squeals as she sees the little baby guinea pigs.
“Sweet Cheeks is a father.” You say as you come downstairs carrying the twins.
“I always knew he could be.” Melissa says and puts Amelia down before she opens the cage. “Hey Sweet Cheeks and Miss Sweet Cheeks, can I see one of your babies?” She asks them and one of the babies crawls on her hand. You watch as Melissa shows Amelia the baby with a huge smile on her face. “You have to be careful when petting the babies, Amelia. Just use one finger and be gentle.” Melissa instructs her daughter.
When you both found out that Miss Sweet Cheeks was pregnant around the end of May, you brought both of them to your home so they could take care of each other. You both held off on getting a puppy so you can take care of the Cheeks family instead. Melissa then went crazy and bought a huge ass cage and a bunch of toys for them and the babies. Her and Amelia spent the whole afternoon decorating the cage and researching how to take care of the babies.
“And done.” You say as you finish putting Amelia’s hair in pigtails. “You look so beautiful, sweetie.” You tell her and then you hear Melissa downstairs.
“Sweet Cheeks! Don’t bite me, I’m just trying to say hi to your kids!” You hear and you snort.
“Melissa, we’re ready to go.” You tell her as you and Amelia go downstairs.
“Do we have to? I mean I don’t need a whole day of reminders that I’m 60. My muscles already do that everyday.” She says as she stands up.
“Come on, we’re going.” You tell her as you pick up Caty and she picks up Nico.
“But-” She tries to protest.
“We’re going.” You say to her sternly and Amelia holds Melissa’s hand.
“Come on Mamma, it gonna be fun!” Amelia exclaims.
“Your daughter is saying we should go.” You say and Melissa pouts and sighs.
“My little weaknesses.” Melissa mutters as she lets Amelia pull her to the car.
You pull up to Marie’s place 20 minutes later as she has the biggest backyard. You let Amelia out before you unbuckle Caty and Melissa unbuckles Nico. You then walk up to the door and the door opens before you even knock.
“Hey sis.” Kristen Marie says. “My, having a family really makes you look your age.” She jokes and Melissa rolls her eyes.
“Good to see ya too, sis.” Melissa says and you all step inside before making your way to the backyard. You all step outside and Melissa’s eyes widen as she sees the amount of people here. “How many people did you invite?” She asks you.
“Just your entire family and mine, I think over 100 people. But some couldn’t make it.” You tell her and she sees about 40 kids running around and people conversing with each other.
“Mamma, can I go play with the kids?” Amelia asks her and Melissa sees the other kids and holds onto Amelia tighter.
“There’s some toddlers and babies over there.” Kristen Marie says and Melissa looks over to the small group of toddlers that look around the same age as her kids.
“That’s perfect.” Melissa says and you both bring your kids over there.
“Hey honey.” Melissa hears and turns around to see her mother there.
“Ma!” Melissa exclaims and goes to hug her.
“Happy Birthday.” Teresa tells her daughter. “Good to see you again, Y/n.” She tells you and she goes to hug you.
“Hi Teresa. I’m glad you were able to make it.” You tell her as you pull back.
“Oh I wouldn’t miss my daughter’s 60th birthday party.” She tells you and you hear Melissa groan.
“Melissa, there’s banners and balloons that say your age. Are you gonna groan everytime you’re reminded of your age?” You ask her and she nods her head.
“Grandma!” You all hear and then Amelia runs to Teresa.
“Well hello Amelia!” Teresa says and you see Melissa go and talk to people.
An hour later you see Melissa playing with some of her nieces and nephews and you go and grab the microphone that her siblings set up.
“Can I have everyone’s attention please?” You say and everyone stops talking and looks at you. “Hi, for those who don’t know me or don’t remember, I’m Y/n Schemmenti, Melissa’s wife.” You introduce yourself to everyone and you see Melissa step forward to the front. “Now I’m sure everyone is aware of the celebration today, Melissa’s 60th birthday!” You say with a huge smile and everyone starts clapping as Melissa puts her head in her hands. “Now, I’ve asked her siblings to write down a loving speech about Melissa and then after the dj will start playing music and we can dance.” You tell everyone and Melissa shakes her head as Kristen Marie gets on stage first and you go to Melissa’s side.
“Hello everyone, I’m Kristen Marie, the second oldest child. Now Y/n said a loving speech, so I’m gonna tell a few embarrassing stories about Melissa, delivered with a lot of love.” Kristen Marie says and you widen your eyes as Melissa is not surprised at all by her sister’s antics. “Actually I think we all have embarrassing memories with Melissa that we’re all going to share, just to prepare you, sis.” Kristen Marie tells Melissa. “Now, my favourite memory of Melissa is when she was 10 and me, her and our brother John Anthony were trying to make breakfast for Ma as it was her birthday. Melissa had to go on a stool to grab the big bag of flour and she dropped it and it spilled all over her and she looked like a drug addict.” Kristen Marie says and you hear Melissa laugh.
Melissa has her arm around your waist through all the speeches and only lets go when the dj starts playing music.
“Are you having fun?” You ask her as you start dancing with her.
“I’m having a blast, thank you, hon.” She tells you and you give her a quick kiss before she gets you to twirl.
The second song to come on is the Macarena that all the adults start doing as no one can resist. At some point, you’re in front of Melissa and you wiggle your butt during the ‘hey Macarena’ and Melissa laughs at your antics.
“You’re such a goof.” She says with a big smile and you wink at her.
“Alright everybody, I just got told about a certain couple’s wedding song.” The DJ announces and then ‘I love you always forever’ starts playing and Melissa gasps as it was your wedding song.
“May I have this dance, signora?” She asks you and you happily take her hand before you both start to dance to the song. She then pulls you right up against her as the chorus starts and she starts singing it. “I love you always forever, near or far, closer together. Everywhere I will be with you, everything I will do for you.” She sings and then she gets you to do a twirl.
After an hour of dancing, Melissa has you wrapped in her arms as you sit on her lap.
“Mommy!” You hear and look to see Amelia running up to you both. “I was told to come get Mommy.” Amelia explains and Melissa lets you go and you follow Amelia to the kitchen.
5 minutes later the music stops and then Melissa hears people start singing happy birthday. She sees you come into view holding one of the cakes and Kristen Marie holding the other.
“Happy Birthday dear Melissa, happy birthday to you!” Everyone sings as you place the cake in front of Melissa. Melissa blows out all the candles and then you and her siblings get to work on cutting the cakes and passing a piece out to everyone who wants one. Melissa takes a few bites and then looks at her siblings.
“Which one of you Papera’s made the cake?” She asks them all.
“Your mother.” You tell her.
“Oh, no wonder it’s actually good.” She says and then continues enjoying the cake.
“Ok and this gift is from John and Kristen Marie.” She says as she’s opening all her presents. She opens the envelope and a stack of scratchers were in there. “Ah sweet!” Melissa exclaims with a huge smile.
“And you’ll be able to do those later.” You say as you take them away from her and she pouts. “You have more presents to open.” You add.
“Mamma, I made this for you.” Amelia says after Melissa opens all her other presents and cards. Amelia gives Melissa a painting she drew a week ago and Melissa looks at it, trying to figure out what it is.
“It’s a flower.” You whisper in her ear and she smiles.
“What a beautiful flower, Tesoro.” Melissa tells her and Amelia smiles. “Thank you.” She mouths to you and you smile and nod.
You all then hear a loud pop sound and everyone looks at where it came from.
“My bad!” One of the kids says and is holding the pieces of what used to be a balloon.
“Alright, let’s get back to dancing!” You announce and the DJ starts playing music again.
Melissa is sitting down a few minutes later with a plate of food and sees you dancing with one of her nieces. She then looks over at her kids and sees the twins playing with another baby, while it seems the toddlers started a game of duck duck goose. She sees Amelia gets tagged as the goose and starts chasing after the other toddler.
“Hey Melissa!” She hears and looks over to see the Abbott crew walking up to her. “We haven’t gotten a chance to talk to you yet.” Janine explains.
“There’s so many people here.” Jacob says.
“Ya, too many people.” Gregory says and Melissa chuckles.
“You can thank my wife for that.” She tells them.
“So how are you doing?” Barb asks her.
“Good, Y/n is trying to keep me busy though so I don’t have a lot of chances to think about the fact that I’m 60.” Melissa tells them. “Oh Sweet Cheeks and his girlfriend had 4 babies this morning.” She says and Janine’s jaw drops.
“No way! Can I come over and see them?” Janine asks her.
“Maybe when they're bigger, they’re really fragile and Sweet Cheeks bit me when I tried to grab one.” She explains and Janine nods.
“Auntie Mel! Come dance!” One of her nieces says as she comes up to Melissa and pulls her up.
“Calm down, Laura, I’m coming!” Melissa tells her niece. Melissa gets to the dance floor and the song ‘Bitch’ from Meredith Brooks starts playing and she can’t help but sing the chorus very loudly. “I’m a little bit of everything, all rolled into one!” She sings and you come over to dance with her. “I’m a bitch, I’m a lover. I’m a child, I’m a mother. I’m a sinner, I’m a saint. I do not feel ashamed! I’m your Hell, I’m your dream, I’m nothing in between.” She sings as she dances with you.
“Woah! Sing it loud cuz!” Annette says as she’s dancing close by.
Half an hour later you see Melissa go near the DJ and she’s handed the mic and the music turns off.
“Hey everyone!” Melissa says and you’re wondering what she’s going to say. “First of all I would like to thank you all for being here and coming to celebrate my 60th birthday. Oh wow, it feels weird saying that number. Anyway, I would also like to thank my lovely wife, Y/n and my siblings for putting all this together.” She says and everyone starts clapping. “I just want to say that I would like to thank Y/n for giving me a family. I have a beautiful wife, 3 adorable children and my Guinea pig just had 4 babies so I have family pets now too. I didn’t think I would have everything I dreamed of after I divorced Joe, but I’m happy about my life now. So thank you again and let’s get back to dancing!” She says and gives the mic back as the music starts again.
“You’re sweet.” You tell her as she comes to stand next to you and she hums. You then lean towards her, right at her ear. “I have another present for you.” You whisper before you pull back and wink at her.
“Oh ya?” She asks and you nod before you pull your shirt back slightly and show her the purple lingerie that you have on. “You’re making me want to leave my birthday party early.” She tells you and you hum.
“Well the twins and Amelia will be getting tired soon.” You tell her and she smiles before she continues dancing with you.
20 minutes later you’re watching as Melissa and Amelia are dancing together while you have a couple snacks and a dance break. Melissa picks Amelia up and holds her up in the air and starts spinning in a circle.
“Wee!!!” Amelia exclaims and giggles. “Again Mamma, again!” Amelia tells Melissa.
“Oh I can’t Tesoro or I’ll get dizzy.” Melissa tells her as she puts her daughter down. She then gets Amelia to spin around and Amelia is giggling as she’s dancing with her mother.
“Hey Y/n.” One of Melissa’s cousins comes up to you and you look at her.
“Ya?”
“Caty is crying and we think it’s because she’s tired.” She tells you and you immediately get up and go over to the twins.
“Oh, come here, sweetie.” You tell Caty as you pick her up.
Melissa ends up looking up and sees you’re not where you were a couple minutes ago. She looks around and sees you holding Caty and trying to calm her down as she’s crying.
“Come on, Tesoro, let’s go check on your siblings.” Melissa says as she grabs Amelia’s hand and heads over to where you and the twins are.
“Mommy, is Cat ok?” Amelia asks once they reach you.
“She’s a bit tired, sweetheart.” You tell her as you soothe Caty and she falls asleep on your chest.
“She looks very comfortable right now.” Melissa says as she goes over and looks at her daughter sleeping on you. “Although I don’t blame her, your chest is very comfortable to sleep on.” Melissa says softly and you chuckle at her comment. You then watch as Amelia helps Nico stand up and then starts dancing with him. “Aw, my perfect little family.” Melissa says as she hugs you from behind.
“We should get going, seeing as one of our kids fell asleep on me.” You tell her and she nods as she checks the time on her phone.
“It is 6 o'clock and we did cut their nap short.” She says and you nod.
You then both say your goodbyes to everyone before you leave.
Once you get home you put the twins on the floor so they can start playing with their toys and Amelia chooses to join them. You both sit on the couch watching them and cuddling each other. All of a sudden Caty starts crying while Nico is banging on the piano toy.
“What’s wrong, sweetheart?” You ask her as you pick her up and sit her on your lap. She continues crying and you’re trying to soothe her but you can barely hear yourself as Nico is playing that piano toy loudly. “Can you get Nico another toy to play with please?” You ask Melissa and she gets up and takes the piano away. As soon as Melissa takes the piano, Caty stops crying. “Aw, do you have sensitive ears?” You ask Caty and you see Melissa hand Nico a book with different textures. Melissa comes over to sit down next to you again and you hand her Caty.
“Hello my little dolcezza.” She says to Caty and you love all the nicknames she calls them. “I’m your mamma.” She tells Caty and Caty just stares at her.
“Doggy.” You both hear Nico say as he feels the texture of a dog.
You put the twins to bed just before 9 while Melissa goes and reads Amelia a nighttime story. You hear Melissa come into the bedroom while you’re brushing your hair and you turn to see her walking over to you.
“Have you noticed that Nico seems to be more vocal than Caty?” She asks you and you look at her.
“I have but she could just be a little late. If she’s still not saying by 2 then we can look into it.” You tell her and she nods.
“Now, I believe I was promised a birthday gift.” She says as she wraps her arms around your waist and trails up your stomach to your boobs. She noticed you still have a bra on so she turns you around and lifts your shirt to reveal the lingerie from earlier. This time she’s able to see it and sees a little bow in the middle. “Hm, my favourite gift to unwrap.” She says before bringing you to the bed.

Okay, I already posted about this, however at the time I was posting about another Bishova fic I'm working on. I haven't quit working on that one, it is just a much more complex story and I'm trying to ensure things flow properly.
That said, I recently got inspired and now I'm a few chapters into a shorter fic that is much less complex. So, I am seeking a Beta Reader for it. The first chapter is in Google Docs and ready to be reviewed.
So, here is the summary (subject to change), along with the Beta Reader checklist and other things worth noting.
(Also note that this fic is purely self-indulgent. I had inspiration and now, well, I can't stop myself. I have no self-control whatsoever.)
_________________________________
Fic summary:
"Holy hell!" Kate gasps, eyes wide with shock. "It's Hawkeye! The Hawkeye! The Avenger! In... whatever room this is. Wait, where am I? Why is Hawkeye here? Oh my God, did I die? Is this heaven?"
She starts rambling, excitement quickly bleeding into confusion.
What?
Yelena feels her stomach drop. There is no reason Kate wouldn’t know who Clint is. She texts him every day along with frequent video calls. Clint, Laura, and Yelena exchange an alarmed glance, all unsure of what to say or think.
“Kate Bishop...” Yelena swallows, nausea quickly building. “Are you being serious? Please tell me you’re playing a really cruel joke. I do not like this… Please stop.”
“Stop what? If anything, there’s a joke being played on me! But if it means meeting Hawkeye, then I don’t mind.”
“I’ll get the doctor. Clint, come with me,” Laura says quickly, already heading for the door, Clint following with an uneasy look.
Kate turns to Yelena. “Hawkeye is here. Oh my god. I can’t believe it. Can you believe it? Oh yeah, who are you, by the way? Sorry if that sounds rude.”
AKA
The one where Kate doesn't remember anything about Christmas 2024 and beyond after a mission gone wrong. Set 7 months post-canon.

So I have this fic I’m writing that I’ve spent an ungodly amount of time writing. I’m talking years. Seven years at this point and I only just now hit the halfway point. Why has it taken me so long? Because what was originally a 25ch fix-it became a massive 91ch character deep-dive. The current plot is damn near unrecognizable from what I first wrote because it’s gone through at least four rounds of rewrites because as I get further along in the story I realize that I want to do more with the characters and have to back track to flesh out the story enough to fulfill those wants.
But what that means now is I have this fic that’s gonna be around 550k+ words that I am dying to release to the world (I haven’t posted a single ch yet because holy hell I want this story to be finished before I start releasing it because I will NOT be revising it after that point someone save me pls).
There’s so much going on in the fic behind the scenes. Sometimes it will take me hours to decide how one line of dialogue turns out because I am playing a delicate game of staying in character while also putting said character through something they absolutely wouldn’t come out unchanged from. There’s foreshadowing on top of foreshadowing on top of parallels and call-backs.
I have sunk literal years into this on and off project because I love the story I have built dearly, but what kills me is that I’m half convinced I’ll never post it. Oh I’ll finish it for myself alright, but I have been in this fandom for twelve years already and I have to say it is probably the most toxic fandom I have ever had the misfortune of being in. And with my bad luck, I do not ship the two main canon couples and have actively broke them up to ship my OTP. But this ship was my very first OTP. It’s what got me into fandom shipping. It’s what got me into fanfics period. I so desperately want to release the fic but at the same time I so desperately want to avoid that storm of bullshit.
oh well, we’ll see what happens. Maybe I keep it on a Google doc and only let my two irl fandom friends read it while vagueposting here lol. Here’s to 7+ years of effort that may never see the light of day.
#percico#nicercy#aint no way in damn hell I’m tagging the actual fandom#Either you know or you don’t

Four is literally the reason I'm in the object show community
Had to smash this down into a word doc before I forgot all of it, lmao. Now where the hell do I begin-
I'll start off by saying that I was a teenager when I discovered the OSC, I think 14 or 15 years old. And kids and teens do dumb stuff more often than not. I've had quite a few secret online accounts without my mom knowing, did stuff I'm not sure she would've allowed, and shared way more about myself than I should've with a stranger(who luckily ended up being 8 months younger than me and a chill person) before I wisened up and took down everything on the account. The stress the idea of mom somehow finding those accounts brought me made me fess up eventually, but this was before that.
I had three or four online friends who I didn't talk to much, most being followers I decided to chat with for various reasons. I can't remember who followed who first, but I found one of them during my Parkour Civilization obsession. I was desperately fishing through wattpad tags for Evbo fics when there were hardly any. I added the only two good ones I could find to my reading list, and some time after that, me and the author of those two fics were following each other. I can't remember how or why. I saw their announcements whenever I checked my notifs, and most of the time they were about some object show, or planet something, or animation vs something, and their profile picture was YinYang from II but I didn't recognise YinYang as a character at the time.
I did some searching about the different things on google. At the time I had no idea object shows were a bunch of different shows, I just searched object show because I thought it was the name of one show, and I got a list of popular ones like Battle For Dream Island, Inanimate Insanity, and Animatic Battle. Google said BFDI was the most popular one, so I searched the name and I got a few YouTube thumbnails, one or two of them containing the blue chaos gremlin known as Four. I honestly wasn't that interested in object shows at that point and heavily considered putting my phone down and moving on with my day, but I wanted to know more about this blue four shaped thing that was very obviously different that the regular object characters, and seemingly feared by them. I stayed tf away from the wikis because I didn't want to be spoiled. I started binging BFDI from season 1 episode 1 and at first I really wanted to stop watching because I disliked the animation style and the voices annoyed me so badly, but I wanted to see Four, so I kept watching and eventually grew to enjoy it, my favourite part of it all so far was the relationship between Firey and Leafy after Return of the hang glider.
By the time I got to BFB episode 1, I had completely forgotten about Four, and I was overwhelmed by the amount of new characters who I didn't first realize were redesigns of the characters from the lol. When the scene came where Four was introduced, I was amazed by how epic it all looked, and the moment Four showed up, paired with the awesome music, the memory of why I started watching BFDI in the first place hit me like a monster truck and I got SO SUPER EXCITED! I didn't even expect him to show up so soon, I just assumed the soonest episode he was gonna show up in was the first one he was in the thumbnail of, BFB episode 4.
Though I will admit that I didn't like him or X too much at first simply because of their poorly drawn appearances even though other fans have said they miss the style. But eventually I grew to love them so I don't mind badly drawn Four anymore, and now Four is my MOST FAVOURITEST CHARACTER IN ALL OF OBJECT SHOWS EVER. And the last few days, I've been more insane about him than ever to the point of making an account dedicated to his character. I always loved him, but not to the point of this. Weird.
Ah well.
And at the moment I'm more interested in the algebraliens that the objects, especially after TPOT 15. And I'm LOVING that Four gets to be a host again, seriously. I needed more of BFB, but I loved TPOT 16 too! THANKS JACKNJELLIFY
Also I found shimejis of some of the algebraliens today and I've been listening to 6 Years ≠ Eternity and a remix of Ha! Deserved by rueckus on YouTube over and over the past few days, they're sooo goooood-

okay, i am GENUINELY not trying to be patronizing or condescending right now, but the amount of pearl-clutching and freaking out that's happened in the past six months or so about the wrestlers you write about finding your fic has been quite high, and VERY GENUINELY, if you are one of the people panicking: how did you not factor this in as a possibility in the first place? i'm being serious. how did you, when you sat down to write about real people, not think that those very real people with internet connections and a metric fuckton of boring travel time were not going to find fanfics about themselves if they wanted to?
we are in an age where fanfiction is mainstream. back in 2000, when i was in high school, you didn't talk about that shit, but now? people are reccing fanfics on tiktok videos. publishing has figured out that writers here put out good stuff and are repackaging it for profit. ao3 is a hugo award winning fanfiction archive. y'all. it's out there. it's all out there. this is a fan space. it's still our space. you can't stop them from ending up here, but that's on them, not us. if you're freaking out, then maybe this isn't something you want to be doing. i'm being very serious. if this is causing you panic, you probably should not be part of this in the year 2024. but, like, i would bet a fairly substantial amount of money that at least 50% of them are well aware of what their number one pairing on ao3 is.
they're already here. they already know. they have always known lol. i'm, like, 75% sure i've had lines lifted from fics before, and honestly, that's not a panic moment, that's a fuck yeah i really nailed that moment. you're not doing anything wrong. this is a fan space. as long as you aren't putting it in front of them and they came here on their own? besties, you're good. you're great. it's fine. i'm being serious, please stop panicking. you gotta roll with it if you're gonna be here. you gotta assume that, at any point, someone involved could find what you're writing. genuinely, if you are not comfortable with that, then you're gonna have to just keep your fics to some google docs you share with a few friends. i know that not everyone has had a red alert level 5 the call is coming from inside the house moment, but it's one of those things. it comes with the territory.
we gotta stop freaking out every month lol. take the acknowledgements and laugh about them. it's fun when they give shout-outs! they know what's cookin'. it's cute that they keep an eye on fandom and what's hitting with us. don't put it in their faces, don't tag them on social media with it, just keep doin' what you're doin' here in the fan space and having a nice time. i promise you'll be okay.
#i am too old for this lmaoooooo#like c'mon friends take the W#i would love to know which characterizations went over the best#i would LOVE to know which fics they liked the most#and sometimes we get to know these things!#but not if we keep panicking about it#shout-out to chuckie t for telling us he liked the domestic fics with trent the most#THAT SHIT IS SO CUTE

excerpts;
i have over 100k+ words in unfinished drafts/wips in my google docs. yikes.
in an attempt to gauge general interest + also to motivate myself in attempting to at least finish half of the projects i've started, i'm going to share some of the fics i think y'all will be most interested in 🤍 (and also because these are my usual first rough draft attempts, so these are just the best of the worst LOL)
as always, lmk what you think, what you're most excited for, and i'm always open to chatting about any of my concepts in depth 🤭
featuring keiji akaashi, atsumu miya, sae itoshi, tobio kageyama, naoya zenin, satoru gojo, + a plot that's still open for any character so tell me why ur fave deserves it (all with fem reader)
— brace for impact, keiji akaashi elevator pitch: rich college girl with daddy issues is roommates/put under the care of old-time family friend, 20-something y/o keiji akaashi
“I just don’t want you to waste your life away.” He answers, which is the truth. He really hates picking you up when you’re drunk off your ass, unable to defend yourself against the swarms of sleazy college guys that are attending the same party as you. He hates the fact that you’ve been raised — if the dozen father-daughter interactions you had with your dad counts as him “raising” you — to believe that money can solve all your problems. Because, sure, having money has gotten you out of many tight spots, but it wasn’t money that drove to a college on the other side of the city to pick you up, it was him. He has to stand here and watch you push the universe’s boundaries, trying to test your luck, to see if there’s a problem or a bad situation that you can’t get out of this time. You’re reckless and privileged and insecure and rich — the deadliest combination for any college age girl to be. You’re going to ruin your life before it even fully begins. It’s like your default mode is self destruction.
“Not this speech again.” You sigh, shifting your body so that your knees are turned towards the door instead of him. “Y’know, Akaashi, you’re not my dad.”
“Yeah, because unlike him, I actually care about you.”
You’re silent now, still staring out the window. He’s usually better at keeping his mouth shut, but it’s hard to do whenever you’re constantly pushing and pushing and testing his patience and he’s just so—
“—sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.” His knuckles are white from how hard he’s gripping the steering wheel. It’s a wonder how the words leave his mouth; you think the way he’s clenching his teeth acts as a formidable enough boundary.
Actually, you think, it’s entirely justifiable. You’re coy, not dumb. You know when you’ve pushed Akaashi too far, and this is one of those times. And, really, you kind of — scratch that — you do deserve it. All of it. And then some. You’re irresponsible, and you drag him out to the other side of the city so he can act as your guardian, your protector, even though that is most certainly not the role he planned on playing. Honestly, you’re just surprised that he hasn’t left you out to rot like everyone else, and you’re thankful, you really are. But what are you supposed to say? That? The truth? Probably.
You don’t, though. You just mutter some weak ass retort that sounds an awful lot like “you need to get laid” before staring out the window for the rest of the ride.
— devil on my shoulder tellin' me i'll die soon (i don't really want that to impact you), atsumu miya elevator pitch: yakuza au but a healthy amount of porn and plot. sequel to this.
The first time Osamu Miya meets you, you’re unconscious, and he has a feeling you’d be grateful about this fact considering the state you’re in.
Atsumu’s carrying you bridal style, and even in your sleep, you still cling to him. The sight would be almost sweet, but Osamu’s not an idiot. There can never be anything sweet in his dear older brother’s life. Even in the pale moonlight, Osamu can see the bruises and hickeys lining your neck, a trail of them that seem to disappear underneath your clothes (he wouldn’t be shocked if there’s a map of hickeys littering your skin). Your hair is sticking up at odd angles, your lips are swollen, and you are knocked out in every sense of the word.
If the situation wasn’t serious (even without verbal confirmation, he’s well aware of how dire this situation is right now; Atsumu wouldn’t have visited him if it weren’t), Osamu thinks he would have made a comment about his brother’s rough handling.
(He doesn’t, though, because Osamu knows all about just how rough his brother can get — after all, they both had the same upbringing.)
“‘Samu,” Atsumu says, and his voice makes him sound like he’s worse for wear. He sounds like when he was fourteen and had his first taste of initiation, when a group of the strongest men would beat him relentlessly for thirty seconds and he wasn’t allowed to fight back. The crack in his voice is subtle, and even though Osamu rarely speaks to his brother anymore, he’s still a master at reading him.
“Who’s the girl?” Osamu nods to your sleeping form, trying not to focus on the purple and red marks. God, he can’t tell if he, Atsumu, you, or all three of you are lucky it’s so dark. Osamu can’t really believe it’s possible to go out in public after a night with his brother; not without being on the receiving end of a few concerned looks.
“I need a favor.” Atsumu ignores his question, which is typical behavior for him, so Osamu’s not entirely too surprised or annoyed. “She’s in danger, and it’s—”
Atsumu grimaces like the next words he’s about to say are going to leave a bitter taste in his mouth. And maybe it’s because that’s his brother and they grew up together, or maybe it’s because ‘Tsumu’s always been a little predictable (or has Osamu just always been good at predicting?), but Osamu can almost mouth what his brother’s about to say.
“—my fault.”
So, you must be someone awfully important to his brother then. Important enough that Atsumu would finally visit him in person after all these years (with barely any warning beforehand, too). Important enough that Atsumu would treat you so roughly (if the marks on your body are any indication of what you’ve been through) and still care about you so deeply. Important enough that he’s finally taking accountability, finally taking the blame for his actions.
He didn’t think it was possible, but Atsumu’s left him genuinely speechless for a moment.
“Please, ‘Samu.” Atsumu Miya is not the type of person who breaks down easily. He does not beg, he commands. But right now, Atsumu sounds like he’s this close to getting down on his knees and clasping his hands together if that’s what it’ll take to get Osamu to help him. “You told me you would owe me after what I did for you. Consider this your repayment.”
Apparently, you’re someone so important to Atsumu, he’s cashing in a favor that’s worth his life just to ensure your safety. Osamu can’t tell if that’s true idiocy or true love — then again, there’s hardly a difference between the two, is there?
“Idiot. I would have helped ya regardless, y’know.” He means it. Every word.
“I know.” And Atsumu means it, too. Because even if they’ve went years with little to no contact, even though they both belong to two completely different worlds, they’re still brothers. Which means that they also know each other as well as they know themselves, and Atsumu knows that Osamu can never truly be at peace until he feels like the completely imaginary debt he owes is paid back in full.
The universe must have a taste for irony, though, because Atsumu thought that ensuring your safety and bringing his brother peace would make him feel good. Instead, transferring you to his brother’s arms allows the weight of the world to rest more comfortably on his shoulders.
Osamu takes one last look at his older brother, and he’s not entirely surprised to see that his attention is on you, dark eyes staring so intensely at your sleeping figure, he wonders if he’s trying to commit your face to his memory. He’s worried about Atsumu. Sure, he’s got a whole entire gang on his side, a rather powerful one too, but ‘Tsumu’s never been the greatest at being left alone to his devices, even if he doesn’t want to admit it.
But then Atsumu looks up at him, and Osamu feels like they’re both fourteen again. Trapped, vulnerable, in immense pain… But not alone, never alone.
“Thanks, ‘Samu.”
“Any time, ‘Tsumu.”
(It’s the same words exchanged by their teenage selves years ago, whenever Osamu would help him clean his cuts and sloppily stitch him up.
To them, it was another way of saying “I love you”.)
— it always leads to you [chapter one], sae itoshi elevator pitch: literally the long ass, long awaited start to this series. if you listened to taylor's new album (ttpd)... yeah, that's basically the new soundtrack for this fic. do what u will with that info <3
A hard pill to swallow is that people never get over their first loves.
It’s like, scientifically proven, or something. There’s been studies, you think. Not to mention that you belong to the group of people who have never gotten over their first loves.
You’re aware that it’s probably embarrassing and should be something that brings you shame, but when Sae comes knocking on your door, infrequent, surprise visits that always catch you off-guard, you find yourself opening the door for him.
(He has a key. He can let himself in any time he wants. You think he must forget.)
This time, he’s not knocking on your door, but he is waiting in the stairwell near the entrance to the floor of your apartment. He’s got a baseball cap on and a dark sweatshirt, and you want to tell him that everyone who lives here is most definitely getting shitfaced at the college bar you just left (the one whose only redeeming qualities are that it’s by campus and the drinks are cheap). He doesn’t have to worry about hiding his identity.
You frown when he approaches you.
“You didn’t tell me you were coming,” you pout and complain about this halfheartedly, but it’s all for nothing. Sae never tells you when he’s coming; it’s almost like you’re just a spur-of-the-moment decision to him, which doesn’t feel right since the Sae you grew up with was always meticulous and purposeful with his actions. Granted, the Sae you grew up with left on a plane to an entirely different continent four years ago, and the one you have standing next to you now sometimes feels more like a doppelganger than your ex-boyfriend.
He doesn’t answer, because of course he fucking wouldn’t. He waits for you to fumble with your keys; if you knew he was coming, you wouldn’t have let Akane convince you to take as many shots as you did. Now everything is kind of blurry and hazy, and your hands shake despite the lack of coldness you’re feeling.
You delude yourself into thinking that there’s something of the old Sae left inside of him as he gently pries the keys from your fumbling fingers and unlocks the door to your apartment himself.
Entering your apartment feels like traveling in a time machine, only instead of traveling back in time or to the future, Sae is entering a present-day parallel universe. This apartment, with its best (and only) amenity being a short distance from campus, could have been his. Could have been shared by the two of you, even.
If he had stayed, that is.
Sometimes Sae ponders what his life would be like if he stuck around. If he had never had the ego or the audacity to want to see more of the world. You know better than to ask him why he never visits you when you’re on a holiday break from school, and he thinks it’s because you still know him the best out of anybody, even Rin. The truth is, Sae is too uncomfortable to come crawling back to his childhood home that he grew up in, the one he’s spent years determined to grow out of. He only comes back home when absolutely necessary — out of eldest son/family obligation.
This college apartment, seeing remnants of a life you’re living that he doesn’t know much about (even though all he has to do is ask, and you would gladly tell), feels wrongly nostalgic. Like, the sweatshirt lying haphazardly on the couch displaying a big, fat Tokyo U logo on its front could have been his instead of your roommate’s. He could have played college ball instead of trying to get recruited directly to the big leagues. Sae’s good enough to get a scholarship. Even received a letter informing him that Tokyo U would be more than glad to have him, full-ride.
(The letter resides in the back of his closet, crumpled up but never forgotten.)
And, most importantly, you wouldn’t be looking at him like this.
Even drunk off of cheap alcohol, you sober up startlingly fast when you see him. You shouldn’t give him so much power over your life, but he’d be a damn liar if he said he didn’t relish in the overwhelming relief that you still love him just the same. Nothing ever changes back home, and he says this with disdain, but when it comes to your unshifting affection for him, he figures staying the same can’t be all bad.
“Y’know, it always feels like you’re judging me when you just stand there and look at everything.” An intoxicated you is an honest you. If he wasn’t so determined to mask everything about himself, he would have smiled at your admittance.
He doesn’t smile, though. He just continues to let his cold eyes roam across the entirety of your cramped, college apartment.

When you spend most of your adolescent and young adult years standing in front of a camera, constantly served on a platter for the masses to scrutinize during your most formative years, you get used to being seen. People’s eyes locked in on you isn’t a comfortable feeling, but it’s one you’re very well acquainted with. Watchful, judging gazes cling to you like a second skin.
It comes with the job is what your personal manager, Fumiko Gima, tells you, right before she tells you to toughen up. You had been fifteen at the time and saw a blogger discussing how you were the least attractive cast member on the children’s ensemble show you starred in.
All eyes are on you from this point forward. You really going to let them see you cry? Fumiko is not a nice person, but she is incredibly kind, in her own way. She’s the type of person who believes in tough love, all while claiming that she doesn’t even think love exists.
You think about the disapproving frown on her face when you revealed your relationship with Kentaro Tanaka.
“You think you’re in love with him?” Sometimes it’s hard to believe that Fumiko is barely seven years older than you. Her youth is evident in her flawless skin and shiny hair (both of which are maintained by very meticulous routines), but the flat expression she wears on her face makes her seem like a woman who found out the hard way that her thirties are not going the way she planned. You’re eighteen when she asks you this question, and you don’t know how a twenty-five year old woman can have such an intimidating aura, but you think that only adds to her beauty.
“He told me he loves me.”
“People like him and I don’t believe in love.” Fumiko makes a face; sometimes, she lets her poker face drop in favor of making a face of disgust, annoyance, irritation, or extreme smugness. Right now, she looks disgusted. “Well, I wouldn’t normally place myself in the same group as him, but our industries are pretty much the same. You don’t get to where we’re at because of love, that’s for damn certain.”
At this point in time, you’re adamant that it’s love because that’s what he says it is, and you’ve never been in love before, but you know that it’s something great. You’re eighteen, and insecure, and he’s in such a powerful position — he could have anyone he wants, and he loves you, so he picks you. Maybe Fumiko is just bitter because no one’s ever chosen her.
— angel of the morning, atsumu miya elevator pitch: historical, ambiguous war au ft. soldier!atsumu x the civilian sweetheart reader who nurses him back to health
It’s the thunder that wakes you first.
Lately, you’ve been a light sleeper. Paranoia is a good companion whenever you’re a young, pitifully unmarried lady who lives alone. You keep a chair propped under the knob of the front door, and you no longer open any windows, scared that you’ll forget to lock them at night.
Normally, it’s the ticking of the grandfather clock in the foyer, or the creaks that come and interrupt the silence of the night (your parents used to swear that old houses just make those noises) that keeps you up. Sometimes it’s the neighbors next door; they like to get into screaming matches that seem to be so loud, they shake the walls of your home.
It’s not your neighbors’ arguing that rattles the walls tonight. It’s the thunderstorm that the sweet old man at the farmer’s market warned you about. You be safe out, miss. Take some extra apples. It might be too flooded for you to go out like you normally do.
You pull your blanket over your head, enveloping yourself in darkness but doing very little to block out the noise outside. The thunder seems to only grow louder, each boom punctuating the lightning that you’re certain is striking through the sky. It’s too loud.
And rhythmic.
You listen closer… Three booms in succession. A pause. Three more booms. After a minute of this pattern, the sound only comes more rapidly — louder than before, too.
The loud booms — it’s not from the storm, then.
There’s someone knocking at your door.
You debate hiding under the blanket forever. Maybe this stranger will go away and leave once they realize that no one is going to answer the door. Besides, no one trustworthy is roaming the area at this time of night, right? What possible explanation could there be for someone to be stranded outside at midnight during a major thunderstorm?
But the knocking persists. Whoever this stranger is, they don’t know when to quit. You’d be annoyed if you weren’t so paralyzed with fear.
“Open up!” A muffled voice still manages to cut through the front door, traveling all the way to your bedroom. It only serves to make you more afraid; what sort of monster is waiting for you outside? The storm rages on, and the knocking won’t stop.
What happens if this person is in genuine trouble? Would a murderer truly be going through such lengths to kill someone? A thief?
Well, you rationalize, it’s not as if you have many items worth stealing. Besides, you have no family, no marriage prospects, and a dwindling stash of money with no means to make more. You’re just existing at this point, and you’re surviving on limited time.
So you make your way to the front door, cringing as one section of the floor creaks as you tiptoe through the darkness of your home. You highly doubt the stranger outside can hear you, but you still hold your breath as you peek through the curtains. It’s too dark inside and out for anyone to notice the movement, and all you can make out is a large figure. There’s a knapsack by their feet and hanging off their shoulder is a gun.
The knocks shouldn’t catch you off guard by now, but one particular hard bang against the door has you jumping in surprise, away from the window.
This stranger must be a soldier.
There’s not a lot of fighting to be done down here. The southern towns have mostly been unaffected. Most of the war is being fought up north. All the southern soldiers write back home, telling stories about the cities they visited, careful not to mention the red that runs through the streets and the way the citizens will have to update the population count on the sign outside their City Hall.
But still, you know what everyone knows — when a soldier, especially one from your side, shows up on your front step, you better let him know that this home is now his.
You slide the deadbolt with shaky hands, turn the lock on the doorknob, and only hesitate for a few seconds before removing the chair that serves as your last barrier. He’s a soldier, you remind yourself, hoping that you’re not wrong. The least you can do for him is offer him a hot bath for leaving him outside for so long.
You open the door, revealing a blond-haired soldier weighed down from the weight of his sopping wet uniform, his hair sticking to his forehead because his face is also covered in rainwater, and it’s now that you notice that he’s got one arm wrapped around his abdomen. His hand is pressing down on his side, and you don’t think the dark liquid coating his fingers is water.
“Finally.” He says. “I’m First Lieutenant Miya, and I fight for the south. I am seeking temporary refuge in your home, and I require only what you can afford to give me. I–“ Before he can finish rattling off what he’s been forced to memorize for times like these, First Lieutenant Miya falls forward, his body crashing into yours.
It’s been a rough day.
A rough week.
A rough month.
A rough life, really, but Atsumu Miya’s long past the days of whining and complaining about things he can’t control. For example, he no longer dwells on his father abandoning his mother right before she gave birth to him and Osamu. There’s still a bitter taste that gets left on his tongue when he mentions dear old pa, which is why, for the most part, he chooses not to discuss him at all. He can’t control the way the north and the south view each other; sure, the mandatory draft isn’t his definition of a fun time, but he honestly didn’t have many plans after school, anyway. He probably would’ve joined the cause, regardless of the law or not. It’s just… A choice is nice to have, y’know?
Like, if he had it his way, he wouldn’t have gotten caught up in some ambush tonight. If only he weren’t just a lieutenant. If only his captain weren’t such a dumbass.
If he had a group to command, Atsumu’s certain that he wouldn’t lead his men into obvious traps, unlike some captains. But newly promoted Brigadier General Kita isn’t here to force people to listen to what Atsumu has to say. Kita has bigger problems to worry about, bigger troops to organize.
Atsumu’s morning starts off bright and early with a five mile trek in the woods. The sky is overcast, and anyone with eyes is capable of predicting the storm that’s coming. Atsumu suggests building temporary shelter before the rain makes it too hard to walk; it’s already hard enough to navigate now, but Atsumu’s visited this town before, when he was a little boy. It floods easily, too easily.
His captain doesn’t listen. Typical.
Around noon, they take a short break to eat. Rations are getting lower. Atsumu suggests that two or three soldiers turn around and head towards town to get supplies. His captain argues that their group is already small enough and sneers that Atsumu must be a northie lover since he’s trying so hard to sabotage this plan.
The plan is shit, by the way. The captain swears his intel is good, that he’s just oh so certain that a troop of northern soldiers are planning to invade a series of small southern towns. They’re supposedly cutting through the woods to be discreet, and they plan on striking at night.
Atsumu thinks that the captain is just falling into their trap (spoiler: he’s right). There’s no way anyone would bother capturing small towns, just like there’s no way people ever want to listen to someone who’s just a lieutenant. Nobody thinks they have anything to offer, so it’s not worth the time to even pretend to care. These towns aren’t loaded with resources. They aren’t located in any coveted areas. There are only a couple of farms, but even then, they’re not big enough to justify wasting troops to terrorize the townspeople.
But First Lieutenant Miya follows his orders anyway because what else is he supposed to do? Unfortunately, talking back comes to bite him in the ass because as nighttime starts to settle and the first drops of rain start to fall, his captain gives him a slimy smile before telling him, “Since you have such great ideas, Lieutenant, why don’t you go ahead and turn back into town to get us some of those supplies we needed?”
Well, Atsumu has a few choice words in reply, none of which will get him back into his captain’s good graces (not like he cares to be anyway). Atsumu can argue that it’s dark out, and no one in their right mind is going to be up at night. Atsumu can throw back his captain’s words and remind him that their measly team is already lacking in numbers. He can make the captain look dumb and ask him where the supposed enemy troops are at, since apparently they’re supposed to be capturing the town right about now. He can abandon the men, go back home, and enjoy a homecooked meal from ma. She wouldn’t care enough to scold him for being a dirty deserter; the lecture will come, surely, but she wouldn’t be too harsh with him. Atsumu misses home. He misses his brother, who belongs to a different troop. He misses Shinsuke, his former captain. He misses his mom.
What he does end up doing, though, is biting back his tongue. He barely nods, clenches his teeth as he reluctantly says yes, sir, and treks off on his own.
He’s about three miles in when the bullets start flying.
Isn’t this just a lovely way to finish off the night, he thinks, before sprinting through the trees, weaving between them, trying to ignore how loud and how close the shots sound. He thinks he’ll probably go deaf by the time this damn war is over. A bullet narrowly misses his face, and then he starts to think he’ll probably be dead before then.
He can’t see. If he can’t see, he doubts the enemies can, either. That’s when he gets an idea. His legs are sore, he’s thirsty, and every step he takes is punctuated by a sloshing sound because the area is flooding, just like he predicted it would.
(Sometimes it’s a pain being right all the time.)
The shots are still coming at him in rapid succession, and he believes maybe it’s because they still think they have to shoot at him. If they think they got him, maybe they’ll leave him alone. It didn’t sound like anyone was bothering to chase after him, meaning they’re all probably perched in trees or hiding in bushes, shooting blindly into the night, hoping to land a lucky shot on a target.
Before he can pretend to be hit, though, some bastard does get a lucky shot on him.
“Fuck!” He can’t help but yell out, the bullet piercing the side of his abdomen. A burning sensation begins to form on the spot where the bullet decided to make its happy home, and Atsumu can’t help but fall to the ground, clutching at the bottom half of his body.
A minute goes by with no more shooting, and he’s glad he’s in enough pain not to realize that had he thought of his little plan of pretending to be shot sooner, he probably wouldn’t be in this predicament right now.
It’d be so easy just to lie down and die. It’d be a slow death, sure. Painful, very much so. But no more fighting. No more captains belittling him.
But if you die, a tiny voice in his head reminds him, it wouldn’t just be you that dies. It’d kill ma. It would ruin Osamu. Don’t be a selfish bastard.
He allows himself only one more minute to stay absolutely still. He thinks the adrenaline pumping in his system helps to numb the pain, which is saying a lot, considering the fact that death would be preferable over this excruciating sensation. When he’s certain the coast is clear, he struggles to stand and keep himself steady.
He cannot die like this.
Atsumu Miya knows better than to get upset at things he can’t control. He can’t control flying bullets aimed at him. He can’t control enemy soldiers; hell, he doesn’t even have soldiers he can control, enemy or ally. He can’t control a lot of shitty things that seem to happen to him, but as long as his heart is still beating, Atsumu Miya controls his own fate. He decides what happens next.
It’s only a matter of putting one foot in front of the other, he rationalizes. He walks all the time. It’s not such a hard task. The storm continues to rage on, and Atsumu pretends he doesn’t even mind the water. He pretends that he’s not freezing. He pretends that he doesn’t care that his uniform is sticking to his body, making the dirty fabric cling onto him as if to act as a second skin.
There’s a white flag in his knapsack. During training, they said to use it as a last resort. Die before you wave it, or something like that.
He knows the intended use for it, but right now, he needs it as a tourniquet. He tightens the flag around his waist, using all his diminishing strength to get it as tight as possible. He can trick himself into thinking it’ll stop the flow of blood leaving his body, but at least it’ll slow it down. It’ll grant him enough time to make it into town and get help.
He doesn’t choose the first house he sees; he chooses the one he likes the best. It’s nothing all too impressive — certainly not the biggest, but from what he can make out in the dark, it looks quaint. It reminds him of home, almost. There’s a porch with a bench outside and flowers on a window sill. It seems to glow in the darkness of the town, its paint a much brighter shade than the surrounding houses. A nice family must live here then.
He knocks on the door, and there is no answer. Atsumu Miya did not walk this far with his life literally draining out of him to only make it this far. He knocks and knocks, and because he is too stubborn, even to the very end, he doesn’t quit. Someone must answer the door. It doesn’t cross his mind that perhaps this lovely family he’s envisioning might not even be home. It feels like ages since he first started banging on this door, and he thinks this might be it.
And then the door swings open, revealing a young lady with a certain glow about her. Maybe it’s the blood loss talking, but right now, you look like an absolute angel. His bright beacon of hope.
“Finally.” He swallows hard, trying to remember what he’s supposed to tell you. The proper words are evading him right now. Honestly, even standing is a struggle now. He thinks he does a good enough job, but then he blinks, and his eyes don’t open back up after that.

“Who did this?” You’ve seen Naoya so angry that his words seemed to shake the very interior of the room he was shouting in. You’ve seen Naoya so furious that he had everyone in his vicinity cowering in fear, scared to face his merciless wrath. Never have you seen him so enraged that he can hardly speak, the sentence coming out from between bared teeth; they’re discernible growls more than they are words, but his message doesn’t need to be understood in order to know his intent.
Naoya Zenin is out for blood.
“Tell me who did this.” He demands, hand gripping your chin, forcing you to tilt your head up and stare him directly in the eyes. You know why he does this; he can read you like a fucking book. He’ll know if you’re lying before you can even finish whatever fabricated story you’ve spent forever formulating. There’s no point in trying to trick him because it’ll cause him to get angrier, and then what? Then, you’ll have the whole entire room’s blood on your hands. A massacre dedicated just for you.
You hadn’t cried when he had taken you from your home. You hadn’t cried when you were about to be killed by that curse. You hadn’t shed a single tear despite the unfamiliarity of the Zenin Estate, despite the fact that you were forced into a marriage with a man you did not know, despite the fact that you’ve never been this far from home, suffering silently in feelings of isolation and despair. You hadn’t cried after all of that, yet now you’re sobbing? Now you’re here, struggling to stand on your own, clutching onto the material of his shirt as if he’s your only lifeline, dangerously close to burying your face in his chest and crying your little eyes out. He’s been angry more times than he’s ever felt any other emotion. He’s numb to the feeling of his blood rising, of his vision being tainted with red, of having nothing but sick thoughts and vivid memories of torn flesh and severed limbs surrounding him. This emotion isn’t foreign to him; it’s a part ofhim. And he’s angry, yes, but there’s something else that he feels when he looks down and sees you making yourself smaller, as if trying to use him as your own personal shield.
— balancing act [chapter one], satoru gojo elevator pitch: the first month of your bet will you and gojo inevitably get together <3 the start of this series.
You have what you order down to a T. You first started your tried and true method of restaurant ordering when you were but a wee little intern, too shy to go to town on a rack of ribs in front of your peers and bosses. Once you entered the city’s dating scene (which is actually Dante’s tenth circle of hell — it’s just never discussed because that’s truly how vile trying to find a good man in a big city is), you realized that there’s not much difference between lunch dates and client lunches.
You have the obligatory greeting exchanges (“hi,” “hello,” “how are you,” etc.), the awkward smiles, the mental countdown going off in your head as you wait for the perfect moment to get right into business (“what do you expect to gain from this partnership?” — a line surprisingly used more often in your meetings with potential investors and clients). There’s the pained professionalism, the tight-lipped smiles, the napkin resting in your lap, the battle to maintain constant eye-contact. When you sit across from someone at a table, date or client, you don’t see the person; you see a goal.
And you’re good at working towards a goal. It’s why you’ve always been the analyst your managers rely on, why you’ve morphed into the senior associate that all your juniors look up to at G&G Capital, and why you automatically figure that if you set your sights on a man only to have him end things, it’s not you who was at fault. It has to be him. You’ve charmed the toughest clients and built fantastic working relationships with the most well-connected M&A lawyers; if you’re this good at professional relationships, why wouldn’t you also be fan-fucking-tastic at a romantic one?
All the men who have taken you out on dates before wanted to sweep you off your feet. An ex-boyfriend once admitted to you that you appeared so unimpressed at everything, it had become this fun, twisted competition with himself to see what he had to do to get a look of amazement on your face.
“I can tell by the look on your face that you’re impressed.” Gojo says gleefully, holding open the dirty glass door so you and Utahime can walk in.
Utahime looks like Gojo just slid open the backdoor to a white van and told her to get in. There’s shock with a hint of disgust evident on her pretty, doll-like features, and you know you’ve got a similar expression, too.
The floors inside this restaurant — if the dingy, dimly lit shack crammed with small tables and rickety chairs can even be considered a restaurant — are sticky with decades’ worth of mystery liquids that have congealed into the half-inch thick residue that coats the floorboards. You have to purposely think about moving one foot in front of the other in order to walk because actual pressure needs to be applied if you don’t want your heels to become glued to the floor. You’re walking in front of Utahime and Gojo, and you end up choosing a table in the far back; it looks the cleanest. Briefly, you wonder if you’re allowed to be here, then think better of it as Utahime takes the seat next to you, and Gojo takes the one across. You highly doubt there’s a hostess here that’s dictating where the customers sit.
Especially since, upon one glance of the whole place, you realize that it’s empty save for you three.
“Gojo, if we get killed, I hope they murder you in front of us first,” Utahime hisses. Her family’s so rich (and traditional), she’s never willingly been to a restaurant that doesn’t have a Michelin star. Before college, she’s never even eaten out at a chain restaurant. Being caught in a place like this has Utahime mentally spiraling towards rock bottom.
“I hope they would, too. I don’t think I have the stomach to watch you meet your grisly end.” Gojo says serenely. Usually, he says things loudly, teasingly, gets all up in your face. When it comes to Utahime, he likes to play at being nonchalant. He’s been doing this to her for over a decade now, and it still grates her.
Before Utahime can reply, the shaky voice of an older woman is exclaiming, “Oh! Welcome in! Have you gotten a chance to look over the menu?” The voice belongs to a short, plump woman with gray hair, a wrinkly face, but a kind smile that reveals yellowing teeth. She’s got a slight hunch to her back and nails with overgrown cuticles. You try to do a mental calculation of what you could buy this building for, to ensure that this sweet old lady never has to work a day in her life ever again.
“You know what I want, Mrs. Kimura.” Gojo is giving her one of his signature dazzling smiles. “You can just double the portions today since my friend Utahime here eats enough for a family of five.”
Mrs. Kimura lets out a throaty laugh. Utahime kicks Gojo in the shin from underneath the table. You’re wondering what Gojo orders from this place, and why does he order here so often to the point of them memorizing his meals?
“I’m glad you brought friends with you today, Satoru. Meals always taste better when shared with loved ones!” She directs a warm smile in your direction, and you feel bad for returning it with your normal polite one. Tiny and brief. It’s more muscle memory than born from any real emotion. She’s shuffling away to the kitchen before you can try to summon a genuine smile for her, and Utahime’s phone is ringing, filling this near empty space with the tinny, anxiety-inducing sound of an iPhone ringer.
She doesn’t excuse herself; just looks down at the glowing screen, grabs her phone, and heads outside to take the call.
Which leaves you sitting across from Gojo. Just the two of you. Just the two of you in a dingy restaurant seemingly run by only one old woman. The table looks older than you. The chair you’re sitting on makes a weird squeaky noise with any slight movement of your body. There’s no decor on the walls, no windows either. Nothing to distract you, nothing for you to feign interest in as you wait for Utahime to come back.
You straighten your posture, try to discreetly look out the front door to gauge how close Utahime is to wrapping up her conversation, and find yourself with no choice but to look in front of you. All you see is Gojo.
He’s tall, you know that. Broad shoulders. Definitely not hideous, you can give him that much. You just feel shocked at how much space he takes up, how it feels like your eyes have to stretch to try to accommodate all of him.
You don’t know why you feel so awkward, almost like a teenager going on her very first date with a boy she barely knows but still, for some inexplicable reason, wants so badly to impress. You can’t remember the last time you’ve ever felt this way, and you definitely don’t like this feeling at all.
“How’d you find this place?” You ask him.
“I like to support small businesses.” He’s not teasing you, but Gojo has this bad habit of always adding a playful inflection to his words.
“I hope you tip well. You look like their only supporter.” It’s not meant to be an insult to the painfully empty restaurant. You know how much Gojo is worth; when Itadori Googled “Satoru Gojo net worth” and showed the results to everyone, Gojo caught him in the act, looked at the top result, and threw his head back in laughter as he told Itadori to “add an extra zero and triple the number.” You think back to your calculation and assessment of the place. “Might as well buy the business.”
“You make capitalism so cute.” He has to be teasing you now. You scowl.
(He means it.)

There’s no time to waste, but you can’t make a choice. Which decision would be the right one? Surely either route would still be able to lead you to the exit, right? The sharp snap! of a branch being trampled on leaves you even more frightened. Without thinking, you take a left.

The couch seems to shift with his weight, and you swallow hard, staring straight ahead at the same cement wall you’ve been staring at for the last ten minutes because you’re still too much of a fucking wimp to navigate this area by yourself.
Despite the two of you sitting at opposite ends of the couch, there’s only about one foot of space separating his knee from yours. You suppose that he gets away with the manspreading since he probably has no qualms with punching anyone who voices their offense. After witnessing just how brutal the infamous [ring name nickname] can get, you know that you’re definitely not going to be the one to say shit to him. You can’t even look at him.
Where the fuck is your sister? You have your arms crossed, covering your torso, and you think you must have subconsciously pressed yourself as far back into the couch as you possibly could. Everything about you must scream out “she wants to disappear!!!”, and the worst part of it all would be the fact that it’s the truth. You knew coming down here would be a bad idea, and the sinking feeling of regret is practically solidifying itself into your stomach. You think you could throw up.
“Hey,” a voice — a deep voice, scratchy and low and so scarily close to you — breaks the silence. “You must be…”
Of course, you’re used to it by now. Always being referred to as “Akemi’s little sister” no matter the situation, the person, the setting. It makes sense, you rationalize. Everyone knows Akemi. And so, by extension, they must know you — her shadow, her little sister.
“...helped out Sakura.”
“What?” You don’t know anyone named Sakura, but you finally turn your head to properly look at him as you answer. He’s got on a white shirt now, incredibly form-fitting, and he’s staring right back at you. You're quick to meet his eyes before getting too nervous and focusing on the space just below his eyes. Then, that becomes too close to eye contact for comfort, so you settle for staring at his jaw. It’s a nice jaw. Sharp. He could probably cut you with it if you contradict any of his statements, so maybe you should pretend to know this Sakura girl.
“You must be the girl that helped out Sakura.” He repeats. He says it slow and almost carefully, like he thinks you must be some sort of idiot who can’t comprehend the most basic of statements. “Gave her your jacket.” He clarifies, and it makes sense. The girl with the hot pink colored hair must have been Sakura.
“Yeah.” You nod.
“So why are you here?”
“Huh?”
“Y’know… Pretty girls like you don’t normally end up here without a reason. So what’s your reason?”
He says it so casually, throwing it out there as easily as a punch. He probably means nothing deep by it, probably doesn’t even realize the fact that it is a compliment.
He called you pretty.
“My sister.” You answer, finally looking away at him to look down at your hands that have settled nicely into your lap. Your cheeks feel a lot warmer than they did a second ago. You decide to blame this as a result of too many sweaty people in one basement.
“She a ring girl?”
“She’s dating a fighter here.”
“And you?”
“What about me?”
“Are you dating a fighter here, too?”
You look him properly in his face after that comment, almost resisting the urge to laugh. Fear that he’ll get offended and smack you into the floor stops that reaction. Instead, you stare at him, slightly surprised, lips almost curled up into an amused smile at just how unbelievable it would be for you to date anyone like him.
“You finally did it.”
“Did what?”
“Look at me.” He holds eye contact, almost as if he’s trying to challenge you into looking away. “I don’t bite, y’know.” He smiles, showing off a surprisingly straight row of white teeth, not a single tooth missing despite the nature of his… job. “It’s against the rules.”
Yeah. Because [character], the fucking [ring name nickname], looks like the type of man who follows the rules.

Auntie, I have a question.
In the books Lestat gives Louis the dark gift towards the end of the 18th century, but in the tv show he turns him in 1910. That leaves a considerable amount of time where Lestat hadn’t met Louis.
I plan to write a (x reader) pre-canon fic about this gap in time before Lestat and Louis meet. Do you know what he might have been doing during this time? (Do you think it might work for a fic?)
Sorry if this is a dumb question! Thank you!!
Hi nonnie! This is not a dumb question at all. In fact, it's so great that I made you a gif set to go with my answer!
This is the series canon about the time between Nicki and Louis. I know we can't trust everything said in the trial, but for this I think it's okay.
I'll answer below the cut.
First, let me say that I am honored and flattered that you came to me about this. If you want to DM me, feel free. If you want to come back as anon you can have 🖋 anon if you want it.
Second, even a 2 year gap is lot of time to work with. We know he would need to feed as soon as he wakes up and he's a non-discriminating slut, so I know he would have some fun even if he's still brokenhearted. I think you could do so much in that time! Whether or not you decide to write smut, you could certainly give him a meaningful interaction with reader. You didn't mention if your idea for your reader was human or vampire, either could work, but my brain immediately went to "Lestat's hungry after his nap so he's probably killing a lot, what if he met a non-coven vampire in the French countryside?"
My nerd brain also had the idea that you could see what ports were most commonly used for passage from France to the US in 1908-1910 and I'm pretty sure the main one is in the south of France (used by the US military in WWI and WWII but I can't think of the name right now). Crap, I had to google it because that was going to bug me. LoL Saint-Nazaire, France. Double check that if you decide to go this direction, but it's about 470 km (292 miles) south of Paris by modern roads. There's a lot territory for him to cover if he used that port.
If that doesn't interest you, please disregard! I just wanted to point out that you have a lot to work with even if it's "only" two years between his sleep and New Orleans.
Lastly, without finding a definitive timeline of Lestat for the series yet, I'm thinking he was turned in the 1760s (or around there). If someone has a better timeline that would be great, but seasons one and two haven't given us exact dates that I can find. Anyway, if future seasons follow his plot pretty closely then you might have some of his time between his turning and when he meets Armand (yes, Nicki is in Paris but we don't have to headcanon monogamy if we don't want to and he is canonically often non-monogamous). Lestat as a horny, awe-struck fledgling might be fascinating!
I can't wait to read what you decide to do! You don't have to come off anon to tag me in it unless you want to. I would love that, but maybe I'll come across it when/if you post it!
I think this is going to be great and feel free to come back and discuss this more if you would like!

it's in chronological order of the anime arcs but the first several ones are the AU fics
EDIT: check out the google doc for more updates on the list
Ephemerality by greatduwangs

Alternate Universe – Demon AU
Don’t need to be caught up to One Piece tbh but still have a good amount of knowledge on some early introduced characters. If you’ve at least gotten to Baratie I think that’s good enough.

You don’t have to be caught up to One Piece either.
There’s a few characters here tho that get introduced in the anime in Thriller Bark and in Dressrossa.

catching butterflies by aquietdin
http://archiveofourown.org/works/48133825
(pre-timeskip) Takes place sometime between Skypiea arc but before Long Island arc.
You should also watch the G-8 filler arc because I think it’s referenced, but it’s okay cuz it is honestly the best and only filler arc worth watching.
Ode to an ocean by novks (thychesters)
http://archiveofourown.org/works/46906945
(pre-timeskip) Takes place right before water 7.
Chimes by drcalvin
http://archiveofourown.org/works/451483
(pre-timeskip) Contains spoilers from Water 7/ Post-Enies Lobby.
Takes place after shortly after marineford I think. Maybe wait until the timeskip begins before reading this one just in case.
Unable Are the Loved to Die by BasicallyACat
http://archiveofourown.org/works/24785554
(pre-timeskip) post Enies Lobby
Is a series
You are all I see by Anonymous
http://archiveofourown.org/works/47441071
Alternate Universe – Modern AU
Do not read until you’ve finished Marineford arc
One of my favorites
The Dawn that Rises Bloody by BasicallyACat
http://archiveofourown.org/works/27556822
a sequel to Unable Are the Loved to Die
(post-timeskip) I don’t recall reading this one yet so I cant really say up until where you should watch the anime. But definitely post timeskip
Feelings, what a mess! by drcalvin
http://archiveofourown.org/works/371473.
(post-timeskip) Very early into the timeskip. I’d say you can read when they’re on the way to fishman island.
Heliotrope by LostInClouds
http://archiveofourown.org/works/44929768
(post-timeskip) As long as you reach the timeskip and have made it more or less to when theyre sailing to Fishman Island, you should be fine.
The Things we do for Love by LostInClouds
http://archiveofourown.org/works/46912906
(post-timeskip) It’s recommended that you reach the timeskip for this one too and probably before fishman island is also good enough.
Of First Mates and Duty by Whatev3rs
http://archiveofourown.org/works/40266276
(post-timeskip) takes place in an indefinite point in the timeskip after return to sabaody arc.
Probably my favorite zolu oneshot fr
His Captain, Captivating by jirachi
http://archiveofourown.org/works/48769138
(post-timeskip) Try to read after Wholecake arc or at least Punk Hazard. There aren’t any major spoilers for Wholecake but there’s a new crewmate there that doesn’t join until then.
Kizuna by YokoHogawa
http://archiveofourown.org/works/4452800
(post-timeskip) after fishman island
The Five Times Luffy Kissed Zoro, and the One Time Zoro Kissed Luffy by EclecticIsMyMiddleName
http://archiveofourown.org/works/18994144
This one takes place throughout the story up until the end of Wano arc.
It’s preferable that you’re fully caught up because it’s so good you might wanna binge it.
However if you absolutely must here’s the time period for each chapter:
Chapter 1 (pre-timeskip) right after Arlong Park
Chapter 2 (pre-timeskip) takes place in episode 223 (I think that’s a filler arc but its short and not too bad to watch)
Chapter 3 (pre-timeskip) between Enies Lobby arc and post-Enies Lobby arc episodes 312 and 313 (don’t read the chapter summary cuz it has spoilers)
Chapter 4 (pre-timeskip) At the end of thriller bark episodes 377 and 378
Chapter 5 (post-timeskip) from the beginning of timeskip until Wano
Chapter 6 (post-timeskip) end of wano

Hi! I'm am right running around tumblr asking ao3 authors how they joined ao3/found ao3 and who else to ask.
And its your lucky day! @nine-of-diamonds told me to ask you. So how did you join Ao3? And who else to ask?
henlo henlo !!!! :D
oh gosh how I joined ao3 huh… hm let’s see….
I originally started writing/reading fics on a really old website called quotev !!! I used to post a written version of a larp that an old friend and I were doing (we were like 11-12 LOL) and ironically it was based on mcyt! and it kinda spiraled from there—I got into a few different key anime fandoms that pushed me to write more and read other fanfics that gave little 12 year old me lots of inspiration
through reading different fics, I happened to stumble onto wattpad which was… a time FHDBFBFHF. I started writing even more fanfiction because I was reading so much and as a kid being bullied in middle school it was a really nice outlet 🥺 I don’t quite remember how exactly I found ao3 but I do remember the first fanfic that pushed me to even look into getting an account
I think I might’ve just done a general google search of the anime pairing 🤔 because doing that also led me to fanfiction.net as well….
but !!! I had found this fic on ao3 and I remember wanting to subscribe to it so that I could keep up with updates. so I requested an invite and the amount of excitement I had while waiting to get that invite oh man. when I finally got it I was so excited. I made my first account, left a comment on that fic o enjoyed, and was on my way >^•^<
I remember transferring some of my wattpad fics to ao3 and being so amazed at how long the fics I was reading were. it truly felt like I had stumbled on a gold mine of quality writing and I really wanted to be like the ao3 writers I was reading 😅 (corny, I know) but at that time I was posting chapters that were 500-600 words. and I was reading fics that were 2k+
which led to the challenge of trying to write more, trying to be more descriptive and really dive into the characters and stories I was writing. ao3 really helped me hone my craft and just??? fall in love with writing 🥺 it made me want to get better at writing and I started properly interacting with the fandoms I was in at what felt like a larger scale than wattpad or quotev. and I’ve met so many wonderful and very dear friends because of it ;w;
now here I am, 10 years later, still creating and using ao3 <3 ( and I can’t write normal length fics to save my life! :D /silly ). I hope that answered your question !!! sorry I ended up rambling ^^;
as for other people you could ask hmmmm @sparksnevadas @splish--splash--minecraft @anxiouspotionofgloom @stitchthesewords @masque-of-plague aaaaaand @boonbeenblade :D

Realize where you belong.
Pairing: neteyam sully x female!human!reader/female!dreamwalker!reader
Chapter 7
CW: a good amount of angst, reader finally is letting neteyam in and realizing how she does truly love him too, physical contact, neteyam suffering while holding back from mating w/ reader, mentions of sex, yearning, sexual language, reader and neteyam acting like a cute couple, playful flirting, reader is more vulnerable with neteyam, a lot of fluff, reader feels guilty about the way she's been treating neteyam. Tell me if I'm missing something important!
Sorry for taking long to update, my angels 🥺🤍 unfortunately I'm going through a tough path in my personal life rn and bc of that I fell on a horrible depressive episode that I'm still on. So, my motivation to do stuff is very low at the moment and as I have to deal with my adult responsibilities that I can't run from bc nobody can, rn the best I'm able to do is focus the tiny bit of energy I have onto getting them done. I won't be able to update my fanfics as fast as I used to for some time. Can't say how long, it's not under my control currently, sorry :( But I LOVE writing, it's a great escape for me, from life problems and stuff, so, I really do not plan on stop writing fanfiction. I promise! Don't worry too much. Some of the upcoming chapters of this fanfiction, for example, are already saved on my Google Docs. I'll take longer but I won't stop updating. Anyway, I'm a tiny bit (ok maybe much more than that lol) insecure about this chapter but I hope y'all like it. Seeing your comments about the fic would make me incredibly happy. I'm needing some serotonin right now 🥲 Thanks for reading my writings ♡
Not proofread. Sorry if some parts are a bit messed up. I'll proofread it as soon as I can <3
Chapter 6
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
You gave me roses and I left them there to die
So this is me swallowin' my pride
Standin' in front of you sayin' I'm sorry for that night
(...)
It turns out freedom ain't nothin' but missin' you
Back to December (Taylor Swift)
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
You inclined yourself slowly and sheepishly in Neteyam's direction, still feeling guilty for the way you had been treating him before. Neteyam sensed your self doubt and quickly swept you off your feet, taking you inside his arms, so he could finally get the hug he had been dying for, so he could finally feel your small body against his bigger one. His big hands were now under your thighs, securing you in place against his warm body. That closeness, his touch… it all felt incredibly good. You cursed yourself for pushing him away and postponing that moment. To think you could have felt that before and you didn't… "Stupid girl" you thought.
You were now really far from the ground but you felt safe. Now you knew Neteyam would always protect you. He would not let you fall and get hurt. He was not and had never been a threat to you. There was not and there never was any reason for you to be afraid of him.
"Oeyä yawne…" (my beloved) "You feel so soft and tiny… Eywa… Nga yawne lu oer" (I love you) His voice was choked with emotion as he held back tears of joy while he hugged you as tight as he was able to - without hurting you - and you rested your head upon his shoulder. Your nose was hovering over his neck and you sniffed his skin, smelling his natural, cozy scent. It was intoxicating, drawing you in, making you wanna stay like that forever.
You breathed in deep and relaxed inside his huge arms that held you for the first time but still strangely felt like home, like you had felt them around you a thousand times already. If you believed in past lives - which you didn't - you'd explain this odd but amazing feeling as you having found your soulmate again, in this current life. There was no fear of Neteyam inside of you anymore. You only yearned for more and more of him, only a burning affection kept your whole being warm, just like his massive body did too.
"There's still something I need to ask of you, if this is gonna work out between us." You said, breaking the hug for a while to look him in the eye
"Say it, yawne."
Neteyam was still so utterly happy that he did not even seem to be shaken by that, which he could have been
"You know why I pushed you away. First of all, finding out an alien double your size has been stalking you is freaking unnerving." You still gazed into his eyes, wanting him to pay attention to your words "Second, you acted like a creep. At least compared to the way human guys act around girls they're interested in. I don't really have any experience dating na'vi boys, you know?" You choked a little as you were trying hard to hold back laughter
"Ouch…" Neteyam playfully pretended to be extremely hurt by your previous statements. He chuckled "In my defense, I'd say my instincts are to blame, not me, exactly." You gave him a death stare, but in a playful manner too "When I saw you, I knew you would be the perfect mate for me and I had to make you mine. Everything about you rubbed me just the right way."
You smiled. He was being silly and so sweet. You just could not resist it.
"By the way, when did you see me for the first time?"
Neteyam seemed to get shy after that question. You wondered why.
"I fell in love with you while you were in your Avatar body, yawntu. That's when I first saw you." Neteyam looked up at you again, smiling but showing no teeth
"You what?" You questioned him, a bit shocked but you could not bring yourself to be mad at him, though. Imagining him hiding behind trees and up in branches to watch you silently seemed adorable in your eyes, now.
And yes, you knew it sounded crazy, to find someone who used to literally stalk you adorable, but nobody said that anything that was happening to you right now made any sense. Not even you would try to.
"How did I never notice you were around?" You shook your head in disapproval of your distraction back in the forest.
What if it had been a na'vi who did not trust you a single bit to even let you Dreamwalk freely, without grabbing you by the arm and taking you to the Olo'eyktan and the Tsahìk? Some na'vi hated humans to that point. And, as you always said and always would say, you had a great empathy towards them and could imagine yourself feeling the same way if you were na'vi. You could never bring yourself to judge them as harshly as way too many humans did. You knew they were not the villains of the story. But still, what if that na'vi tried to hurt you? You felt tense at the thought.
Neteyam noticed your uneasiness and tried to calm you.
"Don't worry, yawne. I'm a great warrior. A big part of being a good warrior is being really focused on one's mission and knowing how to get by as unnoticed as possible. So many other humans in their Avatars and even many, many na'vi wouldn't notice me, either."
Neteyam still wanted to call those other humans "demons in false bodies" but he was not going to. He knew it would hurt you and make you feel like he was talking about you too. But he was not. Whenever he had called you "demon", it never meant the same thing as it would mean if he was talking about any other human. But he knew it would be hard for you to understand. So he promised himself that he would never call you "demon" again. After that eclipse night when the both of you were talking in front of your bedroom window, he realized how much it hurt you when he called you that. He hated himself for bringing you pain. And his heart hurt so badly when he thought about the possibility of you pushing him away again. It made him want to hold onto your small, frail body tightly and say "Please, don't leave me! I can't be without you again… Please…"
"If you say so… I still think I should've been more careful, though." You say, still feeling a little nervous and thinking that maybe you had not been the best student when attending to your classes about na'vi behavior and that maybe you didn't pay enough attention to warnings they may have given about being mindful of your surroundings when Dreamwalking
"I promise it's okay. It was not your fault, yawntu. I'm just good at what I do." His smile clearly showed he was proud of being a good warrior
"Ok, then." You smiled back at him and the both of you laughed a bit.
Suddenly, he stopped smiling and his gaze dropped to your lips, that were not that far from his own lips, if it wasn't for that damn oxygen mask. You felt like he wanted to kiss you. The moment was awkward but in a good way. He could not kiss you with the mask on, so, instead, he smiled at you once again and looked down at the floor, bashful.
You touched his huge, gorgeous face and he looked up at you again "So, about what we were talking about before… Just try to be a little less… upfront about what you feel for me. I mean… sexually. I love that you want me this much because I want you too, Neteyam. A lot, actually. You're… really freaking hot." He smiled, blissful, and his cat-like eyes sparkled as he heard that, his ears perking up. "But you're a bit too much, at times. If you could just tone it down a bit…" Neteyam looked a little ashamed and insecure, so, you rubbed your thumb on his soft skin, to reassure him you still longed for him too "At least while I get used to your na'vi nature, it would be great. Please, try to understand me… It's a whole new world I'm just now discovering. But it doesn't mean I don't love you and don't want you and it doesn't mean you should feel insecure." You smiled gently, showing no teeth.
Neteyam looked a bit sad again after you finished your sentence and you totally understood why. In his na'vi mind, you were practically rejecting him. That was who he truly was, animalistic and a bit too much to your human standards. He must feel like who he is was not enough or good in your eyes.
"Hey" You cupped his face again "I wanna do something. Just let me take this mask off, first." You wanted to reassure Neteyam of your feelings for him by giving him a kiss.
"Yawne, no! You can't breathe without it. You could die really fast! I'm not gonna let you do it."
"So you don't want a kiss, Neteyam Suli? I thought you'd want it, judging by the way you have been stalking me and by our interaction that night, outside my bedroom's window." You teased him and his face lit up
Neteyam gave you an excited smile. The way his full lips curled up as he quickly pondered about the pros and cons of your offer was so beautiful, almost hypnotizing.
God, you really were in love with that na'vi boy, weren't you? There's no going back now. He's holding your heart in his big, weird but cute, alien hands.
"I guess if we make it quick-"
"Shut up, Neteyam." You interrupted, chuckling playfully "I know you're dying to feel my lips on yours. Just help me take this mask off already." It was a bit hard for you to take the mask off while holding onto his shoulders. You knew he would not let you fall but still you wanted to still feel a bit of control and keep holding onto him too.
Neteyam got surprised by your boldness, since he did not see it coming, and he could only think about how freaking amazing it would feel to finally taste your lips, so, he did as you asked - leaving the mask hanging on your neck by the strap it had - and you rapidly held his big pretty, blue face, brought your lips to his and placed the most tender of kisses there, pressing your mouth against his mouth softly but with so much care, trying to let him feel how much you desired him too. His lips were velvety, warm and so incredibly good to kiss. God, you did not care that you were risking dying from lack of oxygen. You wanted that alien boy so badly.
Neteyam's still tense demeanor soon turned into a calmer one as he kissed you back. His hold on you got tighter as he felt your sweet soft lips on his. He felt so incredibly hungry for you. How could he not be? Your kiss was the most delicious thing he had ever felt in his whole life. You both shared saliva and wet each other's lips with each time your lips parted only slightly and came together again. Your soft skin made him want to squeeze you and never let you go again. Neteyam wanted to cuddle with you, wanted to wrap his tail around your small body in a possessive way to let you know you're his and that he would take care of you, hunt food to feed you and protect you from anything that could ever hurt you.
It was getting harder and harder for him not to lay you on the ground and press his body against your tiny one and make love to you right there but he knew that, thinking rationally, that was not a good idea at all, as the both of you were just outside a laboratory full of humans and you two could easily get caught and be in danger.
Even though Neteyam craved your body insanely, now even more than before, as he was finally feeling you close and tasting your lips, he was trying to take it as slow and gentle as he could because he wanted to respect your limits instead of scaring you away again. He understood you were human and your race acted in a very different way when it came to relationships. He still thought it to be a dumb way to lead things but it was you who was asking him to act differently and he loved you with his whole being. He could not bring himself to say "no" to that request. He knew it would be temporary and you soon would give into the na'vi that lives inside of you when it came to mating too. For you, Neteyam could wait. He knew things would soon change for the better. You were now in his arms, as the two of you kissed. You were no longer afraid of him. That was everything he needed at that moment. Things were already so much better.
Neteyam noticed you were having more and more trouble breathing, so he got worried and quickly put your oxygen mask back on.
You gasped for air and breathed in so much oxygen once you had your mask on that it might have been funny to watch, though Neteyam did not laugh. On the contrary, he seemed way too serious, way too worried about your safety. You wanted him to relax a bit.
"See how much I love you? I risked dying just to give you a kiss." You tried to speak normally but what came out of your mouth was a hoarse whisper instead, as your lungs were still in need of more air. A weak smile was adorning your lips as you struggled but still managed to let out a frail chuckle
"Don't say that, oeyä tawtute, please." Neteyam told you, trying to stay serious but still letting out a chuckle as well
"See the sacrifices I make for you, Neteyam?" You tried to seem mad at him at the beginning, only to start laughing shortly after, now that you finally had enough oxygen in your system to be able to let out an actual laugh, even if it still sounded weaker than your laughing would sound in another situation
He smiled big and teased you "Skxawng." (moron)
"But you love me." You closed your eyes while smiling, full of yourself
"I do." You opened your eyes to look at his face "More than you think, yawntu."
Your heartbeat accelerated intensely and you blushed. Neteyam found your blushed cheeks adorable. He looked at you so intensely, like he was holding the most precious thing in the world in his arms.
Neteyam knew he had just fallen even harder for you now that you both had kissed. He could not wait until he could be alone with you in a safe place and get to explore your body with his hands and kiss you all over. He almost got hard just thinking about that but he tried his hardest to whoosh that away. Neteyam was scared that feeling his bulge would be too much for you at that moment, specially since he knew he was much bigger than the human males you were used to. You might feel uncomfortable because of that difference and the sudden intimate feeling of his hard big cock against you and want to get out of his arms. Neteyam did not want that to happen. He needed you there a bit more, he was not ready to let you stand on your feet yet. And he was so afraid of you not wanting him close anymore, he was so afraid of perhaps ruining what you both had now. It was far too special for him. He could not let his sexual instincts ruin that. The time would come when you would let him in completely, when you would grant him permission to be inside of you and show you how much he craved your pussy, how much you messed with his head and awakened his most intense desires. Until then, he would wait and take baby steps. For you, he was capable of waiting for ages, though he hoped so strongly it would not take long.
