I’m thinking about the symbology of Monty.

Monty: a crow, a murder down to his very essence, living in a cage that is unlocked and yet he can never escape from because he was never taught how to fly. Or, rather, he was born bound, born with clipped wings, born half dead, never truly alive, half-bird, half-boy, never enough of either.

Monty: doomed by the narrative, rising into the frame as he is born and falling out of the frame as he dies, both at the hands of the same master, both times under the iron of a tool made to card wool, to get it ready for spinning, yet he is unravelled, unstitched, by the very person who knitted him together.

Monty, born dead, born out of his own death. Literally a star, in that one star is born out of the death of another star, nebula from supernova, death to birth to death again.

Monty, only ever able to make one decision on his own and was killed for that choice, but who never would have been able to remain alive anyway.

Monty, neither the crow nor the boy but certainly never a Finch, because he is not a son, not a boy, but a tool.

Monty, never given a last name or identity of his own.

Monty, dead boy walking, dead before the story even began, dead before he was born, who fell in love with a boy as dead as he was.

Monty, doomed by the narrative from the moment he took his first breath.

One day ill make a proper post (or maybe fic) talking about my les mis character details because ive thought about them all pretty specifically, especially for valvert across the diff eras ... my favourite right now is actually the period between msurm & pre-barricade paris...

I am not immune to the preston truman boyd javert stache & had to give him it alongside the little soul patch THING hes got on his chin at Some point.. and i thought his mini-crisis he probably went through post-msurm was a perfect opportunity .

Not aure if ive talked or alluded to it before (ive definitely talked to some people about it) but in msurm it was pretty standard . He had a typical haircut for a balding man of the period (not long and in a ponytail, like it previously was, and how most people draw it) as well as his famous mutton chops....

However following "madeleine"'s arrest, he goes into a homosexual crisis and represses so hard it seeps out the cracks in the box and his style becomes a bit more madeleine in nature, deciding to grow out his hair, moustache and a smaller beard thing on his chin (exactly like how my madeleine has it).

Of course he shaves it off eventually. He does so after finding out valjean is alive again in paris, as he undergoes another mini crisis and gets his shit together (loosely). He decides to keep the long hair, though.

Is it OOC? probably. But. I just want an excuse to give him a dumb moustache ☹😔

so a therian is someone who identifies as an animal on any level, spiritual, physical, mental, psychological etc! i'm a psychological therian, and i believe that i am one because of neurodivergency, but there are many reasons why someone's a therian, like a past or parallel life, misplaced soul, imprinting by a childhood animal, it's subjective.

tbh everything about therianthropy is subjective, so i'll talk about my experience.

i was in denial about being a therian for years, i thought that i just found them cool. to add to that, i also don't remember my childhood, like, at all, and most therians seem to do animal-like stuff as kids so i was unsure. then over summer i had a whole identity crisis and then figured out i was a dog! yay!

honestly my experience has two sides. either im really happy about not being human, bark (only at home when im alone, i don't bark at random ppl) and play like a dog, or i lay on my bed curled up and cry about being in the wrong body-that's called species dysphoria. i don't have mental shifts often, but when i do they're normally quite pleasant. i'm just a silly little puppy lol. mental shifts are when someone thinks and behaves more like their theriotype (the animal they are) by the way, just to clear things up. i do have a permament phantom shift of dog ears, and sometimes a tail but that's really rare and only happens when i'm really happy and wagging my phantom tail. a phantom shift is when someone feels parts that aren't physically there like ears, a tail, a snout, fangs etc. think like how amputees sometimes feel like their amputated limb is still there. i had a phantom shift of a snout once and i have a constant phantom shift of vampire fangs (i'm also a vampire otherkin)

a lot of therians wear gear like tails, masks, ears etc. to ease their species dysphoria. i don't really do that, i find that it doesnt really help, but i wear a tail for aesthetic purposes cuz it looks cool lolz, and i made masks just for fun. but gear can be anything, even a flowy wing-like shirt for winged therians!

if you want to learn more please for the love of dog do NOT read the therian wiki. i have beef with it. it claims stuff that isn't true like therianthropy only being spiritual or psychological or that it's strictly involuntary. there are labels like otherlink that mean a chosen identity but these were created a long time after the term 'therian' which at first included chosen identities. also sometimes it's hard to tell if an identity is chosen or not. my brain is fucked up, for example my special interest is sharks and i'm also a shark therian, but i don't know if it's involuntary or just my brain thinking sharks are cool and deciding that i am now one. i do identify as a shark fully and that identity was not consciously chosen by me, so that's weird.

sorry for the really long rant, if you do want to know more i recommend scrolling through the therian tag on tumblr, that's how i learned a bunch of stuff :P

I love my (kinda)-brother's metal playlist so much. For simplicity he's H.

H is a pretty chill dude and I feel really safe around him, like he has the most calming-in-times-of-anxiety vibe I've ever been blessed with witnessing.

Like we were at a big party with him and his/his mom's family and I was getting hella anxious. Like literally pacing around, biting nails and lips kinda anxious. I wandered around til I found him and L (his gf), kinda followed them, and then we sat down and talked for about an hour or two. I almost had a panic attack at the beginning of the night, and by the time we got in the car to leave I wasn't even shaking.

Anyway. I feel like shit so I'm listening to his playlist to absorb the Chill Energy. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
