First off...FINALLY....WE GET YUKIMIYA BACK (APOSTLE OF VICTORYYYYYYYY ZOMGGGGGG). I had a feeling he was going to come back in and with the current rankings...I do suspect more of a showdown between him and karasu. I can't wait to see what the rankings will be after this final match since they are literally next to each other (pleaseeeee let them make the team). yukimiya's dribbling (and boy needs to score another goal...it's been years...come onnnnnn) vs karasu and charles....uyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

Next...we get a nice ass shot of karasu's thighs so I had to contain myself. The most important part ahahahaha so relevant to the series.

I feel like we were robbed so much during the third selection and the lead up to the match. there was so much potential for development TT_TT

the fact that yukimiya and karasu are able to strategize on the spot and immediately establish roles...like pleaseeeee can you two be any more.....*urghhhhhhh*...and that ball...fucking lucky ball was able to be in between them. how i wish i was that ball. LOL. all kidding aside, i really wish we could see more team bonding and practicing because i want to see how they became trusting of each other's skills that they can make an on the spot decision of who does what in that split second.

don't even start me with the last episode. i nearly died when i first saw THE scene. i knew it was coming. i thought i was prepared. i thought my body was ready, but my spirit was so weak and thirsty. i do think we were robbed of the scene with aryu, karasu AND yukimiya from THAT manga panel. i can tell that karasu is the crowd favorite (according to the latest popularity poll), so i can see why the animators chose to focus moreso on him. I wish we saw him being a momma crow to otoya and bachira, but hey...we got shirtless caw caw bitch.

cass- also subjected to iphone because bruce bought her phone but she doesn't really care because she prefers being face to face anyway. do not call her she hates talking on the phone and she will not answer. she'll watch the phone ring and then text you after to get her point across. uses airdrop for good (jason nation loses once again 😔).

I also picked up both touhai and yakuza fiance for yakuza reasons and had similar issues as you mentioned. I had some hope in the beginning but at the end I was just watching to complete the show and to hear Akira Ishida lol

for sure! (ﾉ´ヮ`)ﾉ*: ･ﾟ there will be some spoilers under the cut (both for yakuza fiance and touhai)

so i want to first stress that i didn't hate the entirety of yakuza fiance or anything, i really enjoyed yoshino as a character. she's fantastic. and there were moments that were just so much fun, like her whole thing of making the guys switch and mend each other's shirts. genuinely good and original writing imo!

but the general, i guess... grittiness and sense of danger that should have been there just sort of didn't land for me? that's not to say the characters aren't in tense, dangerous situations. they often are! but so often the things that happen and the things the characters do to make them seem dangerous/edgy just felt a stiff and formulaic to me

like instead of actually coming off like he's a yandere freak about yoshino, kirishima often felt to me like the... i don't know, the concept of a yandere freak? there was something about his freak that just didn't feel entirely authentic to me, i guess

one example of what i mean is the whole thing with yoshino's kidney. this happened fairly early on so my memories are a little hazy, bu iirc he said something to make her feel like she owed the family a debt, and since she refuses to owe anyone, she sold a kidney to pay him back immediately

(baller move by yoshino btw. i truly have no complaints about her, love her)

but then some time later yoshino's cousin (or some sort of cousin-esque relative?) shows up and it's revealed that her family deals in black market organ trafficking, so kirishima knows she probably helped yoshino with the supposed kidney sale

i remember kirishima and the cousin getting a chance to talk alone, and i think he said something like... he was looking for yoshino's kidney just to know where it wound up? maybe? but then realized when he saw the scar that she definitely didn't have an organ taken from her

anyway, point being, i remember feeling that the whole exchange had so much potential. like the cousin was delightfully unsettling too, she could have easily been more of a freak about yoshino also. give us some yandere vs yandere action please!

but mainly i felt like if kirishima really committed to the bit he could have been like "yeah i was looking for her kidney because i wanted to have it transplanted into me so that a part of her would always be with me and if she's not a compatible donor for me i could at least eat it. her kidney :3" like man come onnnnnn if you're going to be a sicko be an actual sicko! they don't even have cannibalism <- shrek meme voice

kei from touhai on the other hand, like... i would not say touhai is objectively Better because it is such an absurd, ridiculous mess lol. but it commits to the bit in a way yakuza fiance, to me, just didn't. kei isn't just some kid poser being tossed around in the yakuza world, he's out there like... actual committed to losing a toe to play mahjong, disemboweling himself and all. deeply concerning child but he delivers on the premise of the series

i guess i also have higher standards for yakuza romance in general because the bar of excellence for me is saezuru, which is conceivably BL (and i mean it certainly is) but has such a genuinely great yakuza plot too. like it's tense, it's tragic, it's romantic, it's heart-wrenching, it's haunting, it's beautiful

it's just there was an almost... shallowness? to the story? like i just couldn't shake the sense that the writing kept doing what it thought would seem edgy, without actually wanting to. idk ultimately, to me, it just felt like a series with no heart

I am a 2017 army and have been waiting for his solo album after I had a honor of listening to lie and serendipity and how both of them are soooo different and how jimins voice is mesmerizing. Oh how I wish I could go back honestly. In some season greeting they were reading some kind of future thing and it is said jimin earns more money or something similar and yoongi said his album might hit daebak and I was jumping in joy and screaming fast forward to sep/October when he said he was working on a song aiming to release that year, I was honestly holding my breath and trying not to get it to me and eventually forgot abt it only to see a tweet on my phone on Dec 31, 2018(kst), I literally was just in trance for 30 mins just looping the song. I did not open twitter or anything just listening to the song and once again thought omg omg omg omg and by 2019 taekook announced they were working on mixtapes and I was thinking how will jimin's album would be? but since he didn't talk abt it I wasn't keen on that thought and boom in 2020 we have a bewitching filter with enticing lyrics and jimin summoned his inner siren in the song and me merely a human also a long time victim of park jimin's voice fell into despair because at that point I was craving to listen his voice in a full album like never before and was blessed with christmas tree too. I was singing it more than one who celebrates Christmas and i am not even a christian.

I think in 2021(?) vogue z gq magazine, jimin said he has no plans for a mixtape at the moment and I was deeeeeeeply disappointed 😔 but to my utter happiness in only 5 months,godless sungwoon and ost team, they did with you and it is the debut of jimins profie in spotify and later we were also told jimin was preparing for an album and already has some songs and I was onnnnnn the edge😭😭😭😭😭 and now we have FACE, Vibe, and angel songs and CTT like??????? and there is a possibility of another single too???? I am extremely proud of his journey to face🥹 and dreams do come true

just the whole show. it was so good. they're such amazing performers, and it was genuinely a fantastic experience. will definitely see itzy live again if i have the chance!!

Ofc I have a million things to say but let me just tell you I was so hooked and mad abt the fact that there were so many prompts and stories that I never stumbled upon cos they were buried under all your other posts, and MAN, I am severely addicted. To Cliff especially he's the loml I would literally die for him.

Crazy in Love had a GRIP on me. The romance was amazing, the angst, AND UGH JON LOSING HIMSELF MADE ME LOSE MYSELF LIKE UGH READING THAT CAUSED ME SO MUCH PAIN AND TENSION AND I WAS LIKE YES SYLVIA YOU GOTTA TELL CLIFF and I was genuinely so scared for her at the same time, like once again, y'all do emotion, so, damn, well.

Lost and Found was also really really good and it gave me much better context about the world and backstory considering I haven't read the books yet, but if I had to introduce a friend to the universe it would probably be through this. It really highlighted the platonic relationship with Cliff and Sylv and the angst at the end is still fresh in my mind even though I read it like two weeks ago and a million other stuff?? And duh, Jon and Sylv being literally the most delicious romance I've ever read. MAN. THEY CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER SO MUCH THAT IT HURTTTTSSSS WHYYYY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME AJHBSJHBJVBHDV

Out of the prompts I think the ones that really stuck with me are probably any of the ones that had to do with the siren fairy- like man. Any time Sylv has to against one or BOTH of her boys just kills me. I cannot. I am addicted LOL

also Cliff constantly rejecting Sylvia when she wants to heal him is so like. I love how it's clearly something that happens a LOT and it just connects them better. Like. Cmon buddy. Ik. Dev Diaries

Again. Very upset I can’t just be a game consumer and consumer only BECAUSE I’m making my way through Itch.io, playing jam games, talent surpassed, I’m homebound 🎶🎷

Guys 😭 the entries for Otome and Josei jam this year?? I’m finally in a place where I can play more entries and it’s just banger after banger. If you worked in any capacity on one of those entries, I love you. I am in awe of you. I hope you only get the best things in life. I want to do highlights, but that’ll be a future post, and I haven’t decided if it’ll be on the main HBG blog or my review side blog. 

As for the real purpose of this Dev Diaries? I’m at an impasse. Firstly, I want to toot my own horn and celebrate that after a small break from direct work on Crushed, I just finished a full, thorough playthrough for note taking purposes (and to get my mind right, as my mom would say). Y’all, it’s still a banger. I’m still very much in love with what’s been created, and even more excited impatient for y’all to play the game! Which brings me to the impasse.

CGs, more voice acting, and [redacted] are things I’ve kept in my back pocket for Crushed but held off on because 1) it was a jam entry 2) supposed to be a learning experience and cathartic writing exercise 3) a pallet cleanser before I begin another period of long game development, possibly longer than HSD:JY and 4) self-funding. I like money. It does not like me apparently. 

I keep saying that the character sprites--and onnnnnne minor coding issue I recently discovered, Jesus be a FENCE, EYE 😑-- are what’s keeping us from a clear release date, and honestly they’re the only things needed if I wanted to publish the game and never look at it ever again. So, I propose an idea that’s been kicking around in my head. It has pros and cons but the ultimate goal is what players want because on my end, I’ve made peace with whatever happens. 

Option 1 - We push back Crushed to Fall/Winter 2023. You get a finished base game PLUS I hoard some funds now so we get some of the cool things in my back pocket! Maybe I even request some assistance LOL!

Option 2 - Crushed is released the moment it can be out (still aiming for this summertime). In the meantime, I upload the complete but unfinished build to the Ko-Fi page under a monthly subscription or one time ko-fi fee (whichever is best). Those who can’t wait any longer can play sooner, and those who can wait...can wait. Lol. 

Personally, I lean towards the second option only because this was a jam entry and it while I like dreaming big, this wasn’t supposed to be the fruits of that labor. I don’t want to set a precedent where I throw my all into jam entries that are supposed to be something small, low stress, fun, and a chance to grow as a creator. But option one has me giddy because wouldn’t it be CUTE to release a winter game during winter??? Ehh?? Ehh??

I’m going to abuse the polls feature again because honestly, I never know how many of y’all read these devlogs 😂 I’d like the majority to win, and I can reblog a poll a bunch of times to annoy y’all into a response LOL!!

update and rant: i have acquired lyme disease again. goin for round 2 baybeeeee

antibiotics fucking suck and are the biggest scam ever however i do in fact like using my leg so. fuckin whatever. i say as if the last time i had lyme i was actually capable of full range of motion in my leg after two rounds of meds.

its just. it took me years to recover the first time, within the last two years my leg has finally gotten back to normal and now i am LITERALLY watching the process repeat itself, knowing how itll end. its kind of disheartening ngl
