Rulers of Ruin
Chapter 7
Genre: Mafia!au , Slowburn, Angst, Hurt, eventual smut, TW (it is a mafia!AU, after all)
Pairing: Mafia!Jungkook x reader
Synopsis: There will come a day when I will sit down and write an alluring synopsis for this series. But that day hasn't come just yet lol. Stay tuned for more chapters to come.
Disclaimer: English isn’t my native language. Also, don’t come for me over the theme, people. It’s an Alternate Universe, which means the bangtan boys are essentially what I like to call meat puppets to serve the storyline. This is obviously not a projection of their actual real-life personas.

Chapter 6
“And who the fuck are you?” the voice sliced through the steam, sharp and commanding.
YN was too stunned to respond immediately. Maybe the steam had gotten to her head because she couldn’t seem to muster any protest. She quickly turned the water off.
“I asked you something,” the voice continued, more insistent now.
She finally found her voice, the only words she could mutter being an irritated, “What the fuck?”
“Well, that’s an unusual name,” the man responded nonchalantly, “childhood must’ve been rough.” His tone was dripping with sarcasm, making her feel like she might have accidentally stepped through the looking glass.
Still trying her best to cover herself with her hands, she ducked further behind the steamed-up shower door. “Will you just- get out?” she demanded, a mixture of irritation and embarrassment coloring her voice.
He tossed a towel in her direction with a casual flick. “Don’t flatter yourself,” he said coolly, half-turning away to give her a semblance of privacy.
As the steam cleared, she could make out his figure more clearly. The man stood with an imposing presence, his black hair slicked back and wet, likely from the rain, adding to his mysterious aura. His drenched black attire clung to a muscular frame.
He muttered to himself, a slight edge of annoyance in his tone, “I told Taehyung not to leave his girls around here.”
“I’m not one of Taehyung’s girls,” YN spat back, her eyes flashing with indignation as she wrapped herself in the towel and stepped out of the shower.
The man turned back to look at her, slightly amused by her defiance. “Jimin, then? Huh, I didn’t expect—”
"I'm not anyone's girl, thank you very much,” YN interrupted him, her voice sharp. “Also, I should be the one asking who you are and what the hell you're doing barging in here." Muttering to herself, she added, "I swear to God, Namjoon's gonna hear about this, I can't even shower in peace."
The guy replied with a frown, "Didn’t know I needed to ask permission to use my own bathroom."
YN was momentarily taken aback but quickly regained her defiant stance. "Well, I—" she started, but he cut her off, clearly not in the mood for a drawn-out argument.
"Look, I've had a hell of a day, and I don't have time for this,” he said, his tone icy and resolute, “So, beat it. I need a shower."
“Do you even know who you’re talking to—” YN began, her frustration boiling over.
He crossed his arms, unimpressed. “Don’t make me drag you out of here,” he said, his voice low and menacing.
Annoyed and flustered, YN wrapped the towel tighter around herself. As she moved to exit the bathroom, she heard him huff an exasperated, "Thank you."
Suddenly, a familiar, unsettling scent hit her, cutting through the soapy humidity. She paused, glancing back to take a second look at the stranger’s figure.
It wasn’t just rain soaking his clothes.
It was blood.
Her mouth opened but before she could utter a word, the door slammed in her face with a resounding thud. The abruptness left her momentarily stunned and the sound of the shower running quickly followed, drowning out any chance for further confrontation.
She scoffed, deeply offended.
Unbelievable, she thought.
As YN made her way back to her bedroom, she noticed that the other door across the living area, which had, until then always been locked, stood now slightly ajar, a sliver of light spilling through it. She’d been curious about what lay beyond that door, conjuring up various theories, ranging from random utility closets to outrageous sex dungeons.
Her gaze flickered through the slit and discovered what seemed to simply be another bedroom. How very boring.
With a sigh, she retreated to her own bed.
--
The next morning, YN rose and dressed as usual, the events of the previous night still lingering in her mind. As she stepped out of her bedroom, she was surprised to find Jimin instead of Taehyung waiting to escort her to breakfast. She cast a glance at the door across the living area—it was shut tight once more. For a fleeting moment, she wondered if she had somehow hallucinated the entire encounter with the blood-soaked stranger.
She had always suspected that her meals might’ve been spiked daily with some substance aimed at taming her rebellious spirit. This thought now seemed more plausible than ever.
The silence between her and Jimin was palpable as they made their way down to the dining room. Their last altercation had left a lingering tension, and neither had spoken a word since.
As they entered the dining room, YN was taken aback. Instead of her usual morning bowl of porridge and sliced pear, a lavish assortment of breakfast foods was spread across the long table. Freshly baked croissants, colorful fruit platters, steaming pancakes, and an array of exotic cheeses and cured meats adorned the table, transforming the usually modest setting into a feast fit for royalty.
She turned to Jimin, raising an eyebrow in surprise. "What's the occasion?"
“Do we need one?” he replied with a sly smile.
As she took in the lavish spread, YN noticed Yoongi sitting on one side of the table, his expression stern as he peeled a tangerine. Seokjin, the doctor whom she recognized with his white blouse, murmured something to him, his face serious.
“Go on, help yourself,” Jimin said, gesturing to the feast.
YN sat down and grabbed a pastry. Jimin did the same, and for a moment, the room was oddly silent, the only sounds being the clinking of cutlery and the soft murmur of Seokjin and Yoongi's conversation.
Suddenly, voices echoed down the hall, growing louder until the doors swung open with a flourish.
“-I swear it was glorious!” Taehyung's voice boomed as he walked in, accompanied by someone YN hadn't seen before.
Jimin rose to his feet, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. “Welcome back, Hobi,” he announced.
“Aw, all this for me?” the man by Taehyung exclaimed, his eyes wide with mock astonishment. “Oh really, you shouldn’t have.”
Taehyung giggled and was about to say something when another figure strode in with swift, confident steps. A woman short black hair framing her stern expression. “Well, isn’t that adorable,” she remarked coolly.
“Hello to you too, Soyeon,” Jimin said, his gaze following her as she moved with practiced efficiency. The girl didn't acknowledge him, instead heading straight to the table and starting to assemble a plate.
“Anyway,” Jimin said, clapping the man on the back, “it’s good to have you all back.”
“Yeah,” Taehyung added, a grin spreading across his face, “two months is way too long.”
“So, spill” Jimin said, turning his attention to the man beside Taehyung, “how was Singapore?”
The man stretched his arms exaggeratedly, a dramatic sigh escaping his lips. “Hot, chaotic, and terribly humid” he began, his voice full of vibrant energy. “My hair almost didn’t make it.”
The girl, Soyeon, still focused on filling her plate, interjected dryly, “I know something else that almost didn’t make it.”
“Aish, we already thanked you, didn’t we?” the man replied in mock-offense, his eyes twinkling with amusement. He then turned to Jimin and Taehyung. “She’s not wrong, though. Things got... delicate a couple of times.”
“If that makes you feel any better,” Taehyung sighed, “things haven’t exactly been splendid over here either.”
“Oh, that’s right,” the young man said, “I heard you’ve been quite busy yourself. ” His eyes finally landed on YN and he approached her with a confident step.
“I’m Hoseok,” he said, extending his hand. His face was bright and cheerful, a strange yet gentle enthusiasm radiating from him that seemed to light up the room. Despite herself, YN found her hand reaching out to shake his.
“YN,” she replied, a bit taken aback by his jolly attitude towards her.
Soyeon, now with a plate full of food, finally glanced up. Her sharp eyes met YN’s. “Oh,” she drawled, her tone dripping with disdain, “so, that’s the Park princess, huh?” She eyed YN up and down with a sneer. “I thought that was one of your girlfriends, Tae.”
“I’m afraid not,” Taehyung stated with a chuckle, “YN’s more like my assigned headache. Namjoon’s orders.”
“Here’s your jacket, by the way,” YN said, handing Taehyung the item he’d lent her the evening before.
“Right,” he replied nonchalantly, taking the jacket, “thanks.”
Everyone around the table exchanged curious glances, eyebrows raised in silent inquiry. Had he perhaps crossed really a line?
Taehyung caught their looks and smirked. “Don’t get any ideas,” he said, shaking his head. “YN just enjoys a midnight stroll, is all.” He winked at her, and she rolled her eyes, somewhat grateful for his discretion. Her street-cred was already damaged enough as is.
Soyeon’s gaze flicked between them, her expression a mix of skepticism and amusement. “Midnight strolls?” she snorted, “Is that what we’re calling it now?”
Taehyung smirked, but before he could respond, Hoseok chimed in. “Come on, Soyeon, give him a break. It’s not every day we get new company around here.”
Soyeon rolled her eyes and took a bite of her food. “Whatever. Just don’t let it become a habit.”
As the breakfast continued and conversation flowed, YN found herself unexpectedly enjoying her exchange with Hoseok. He seemed genuinely curious about her, steering clear of any potentially upsetting topics and instead engaging her in discussions about anything and everything. His warmth and enthusiasm were contagious, and for the first time in weeks, she felt a semblance of normalcy.
To her surprise, YN realized she had missed human contact. Though far from a hyper-social person, the past couple of weeks had left her feeling isolated. Engaging with Hoseok was strangely refreshing and, even if she would never admit it out loud, it was a relief to talk to someone who didn’t seem to hold her in contempt.
“So, it was just the two of you for two months?” YN asked, genuinely curious.
“Oh, God no,” Hoseok shook his head, his expression brightening even more. “We had one more with us. You’ll probably see him around soon enough.”
Jimin, who had been quietly observing the exchange, perked up at this. “Actually, if you guys got back yesterday, YN might have already run into him.”
YN furrowed her brow, confused.
“See, hyung,” Jimin told Hoseok, “YN here is currently settled in the attic.”
Hoseok’s eyebrows shot up in mild surprise. “You don’t say.”
“Jesus,” YN interjected, her voice dripping with exasperation as she pieced things together. “Please tell me you’re not talking about the raging maniac who barged into my quarters last night.”
“Raging maniac?” a voice echoed from the doorway, causing everyone’s head to snap toward the sound. Namjoon stood there, a smirk playing on his lips. “Now, that’s not a very nice way to talk about your new roommate.”
YN’s eyes flickered to the figure standing quietly beside Namjoon, a solemn intensity in his gaze.
“I suppose introductions are unnecessary,” Namjoon continued, his smirk widening. “I see you’ve already met Jungkook.”

Unnamed Crack Time Travel Fic - part 2 [ part 1 ]
After Salem united all four relics, the gods descended and judged Humanity to be unworthy. Ruby desperately activates her Semblance to avoid the blow and, as a result, becomes only one of two people remaining in Remnant. Months later, the two employ a plan to travel back through time.
Chronic!Backstabber!Syndrome!Cinder, DoneWithEverything!Ruby, transcended!Ruby, crack time travel AU. - mod lilac
Ruby:
She opened her eyes.
Only to meet the heel of a familiar quickly-approaching boot.
Thud.
---
Ow.... Did someone get the license plate of that Leviathan?
“-idn’t think she’d just stand there,” drawled out an annoyed, male voice.
“You knocked her out, Mercury!” said another familiar voice, “I’m calling Mom.”
“Don’t worry about it. She’ll be okay. Didn’t even breach her Aura,” said a third, feminine voice.
Ruby groggily opened her eyes to the trees and the sky, a pounding headache centered right between her eyebrows. She couldn’t help but let out a pained groan as she sat herself up, giving her a better view of the familiar evergreen pines that surrounded her.
She’s in Patch. Guess the time travel thing worked.
“Ruby!” said the male voice.
“Look at her, she’s fine. it’ll take more than that to keep Ruby down,” said that third, ominously familiar voice.
Her blurry gaze slowly filled with green as she was pulled into a hug. She could feel something wet dripping down her neck.
“Ruby, I’m so sorry. I’ll get that asshole back for yo-” the girl cried out.
“Hey! It’s not like I did it on purpose,” the voice now sounded a bit more panicked.
“It’s her first time sparring with us. And you’re two years older. Don’t you know how to pull your punches?”
“I kicked her.”
“Same thing. Even worse, cause you did it with a metal boot too!”
Her throbbing headache only got worse with the yelling, but the blurry figures in her vision slowly came into focus.
“Emerald? Mercury?.... Cinder?!” Ruby incredulously finished, “What are you doing here?”
Emerald immediately stopped latching onto her, quickly grabbing her by the shoulders and looking her straight in the eyes. Ruby couldn’t help but be worried by the sheer panic within Emerald’s.
“You...you don’t remember?” Emerald asked, “Ruby, quick. Who am I - who are we to you?”
Ruby wanted to say something along the lines ‘horrible enemies for a period of a time’, but even with her social shortcomings, she could tell that was probably the wrong thing to say in this situation.
So with a slightly bewildered, guilty look, Ruby could only shake her head instead. Shock and then anger filled Emerald’s expression.
“You kicked her so hard that she doesn’t remember her sister, or Mom!”
“Big sister,” Cinder interjected dryly with a roll of her eyes; her expression, previously nonchalant, became more focused on Ruby.
“Once we make sure Ruby is okay, I’m going to teach you a lesson you’ll never forget!” Emerald growled angrily at Mercury before protectively hugging her again and coincidentally preventing them from seeing the look of horror on Ruby’s face.
What terrible alternate universe did she land in for Cinder to be a Mom!? Her Mom?! Did she screw up somehow? Is there a way to undo her undo? What in Remnant was going on?!
Emerald loosened her grip momentarily, enough so Ruby could see Mercury holding his arms in a placating gesture.
“Hey, let’s not be hasty now. Besides it’s probably temporary. Remember when Yang uppercut me so hard that I thought Zwei was my uncle? I got better, didn’t I?” Mercury said, “Look. I’ll make it up to Ruby later, okay.”
The last bit softened Emerald’s angry gaze.
The sound of rustling leaves filled her ears. White petals and a long white cloak blurred into view.
“Em, I got your text,” said a voice that she barely remembered, “What happened to Ruby?” A familiar face came into view, a face filled with love and concern that was directed right at her.
She couldn’t help the tears that welled in her eyes.
“...Mom?”
---
tiny extra probably non-storyline bit:
“SHE DOESN’T EVEN REMEMBER HER OWN MOTHER! MERCURY!!” Emerald screamed in rage as she directed her ire at her target.
Instantly, Mercury found himself at the bottom of the well.
“Not again,” Mercury groused.
Thonk.
A small plastic bottle fell right onto his head.
He could see Emerald at the very top of the well, eyes glowing an eerie green.
“It puts the lotion on its skin, or it gets the hose again.”
“It does what it’s told.”

Okay let me clarify something
my last post about Fate BS made me sound like I didn’t want to talk about it at all. I mentioned how I couldn’t think of a big story thing b/c Fate series is just way too good and it’s writing is way more superior. Like all the facets and aspects of it’s world (from the organizations in it to the power sets and how both of them work) are MUCH better defined and shown than the extremely vague or poorly explained aspects of the other four series.
I just meant that if you asked me to come up with a big fanfiction plot involving all five franchises it would be extremely difficult because you’d have to fill in the blanks and work around the lack of or poor explanations for a lot of the shit in the other franchises, which I am sure a competent fanfiction writer can do.
So, to get down to it. Say the four BBTAG franchises (Blazblue, Persona, Under Night In-Birth, and RWBY) entered the world of the fate series. How do you guys think this would all go down.
Now as the Fate series has a shit load of spin-offs and alternate universes I will limit them to just two: the Fate/stay night era (as it is the o.g. and seems to be the main point of the series) and Fate/Grand Order (the series that people seem to have wanted as a new fate....ha ha......in BBTAG)
The former allows for the heroes to interact with a modern/normal setting in Fuyuki along with all the characters that are pretty familiar, but then you’d have to see how adding ALL this extra BS from other worlds would affect the 5th Fuyuki Holy Grail War. F/sn is already split into the three routes and having all this extra BS might cause some shit to just go off the rails.
F/GO is a bit more streamlined in plot, pretty A to B from what I have seen outside of side missions and crap, but it also has a lot of world ending BS going on with the Singularities and the such.
I asked this about Blazblue a while ago, but from what little I have seen on the Counter Force and Gaia, would most of the other characters even be able to use their powers, let alone exist in the Fate universe?
A few Blazblue characters have really weird existences like Hakumen who is kind of 3/4 non-existent. Ragna is the reincarnation of the Black Beast so I feel like the Counter Force would be on his ass immediately. Noel is sort of a god with a connection to the absolute force of the Blazblue verse, the Azure, and IDk how THAT measures up to anything in Fate. Rachel and Valkenhayn aren’t really human, Tager was made into a Demon Cyborg, all sorts of stuff.
Persona users usually can only use their abilities in other worlds connected to the collective unconscious unless they ether have an Evoker or have a strong will like Fuuka. Persona, kind of mental entities, being summoned into reality MIGHT have some difficulties in this world. Also comparing the Personas t the Servants would be fun, as the Servants kind of ARE the mythical/historical figures while the Personas just seem to have their name. The legend/actual person rarely seems to affect their design or abilities. Also Teddie is a Shadow, he may have a human body, but that is all just appearances as he has no skeleton, he is a being made of information and energy and who KNOWS how the universe would react to THAT.
In-Births are weird mostly because the series is young but also they have a lot of BS terminology. Like how In-Births are beings “without a birth”, whatever the FUCK that means. But, at the very least it’d be interesting to see how people would react to Hyde’s Insulator.
RWBY might be the simplest, in fact they kind of had their own “Age of Gods” where magic was much more prominent/powerful, so that’s kind of an interesting connection. Aura is a manifestation of the Soul into either a shield/minor healing factor or a full on power, with the biggest Semblances I can think of being Glynda’s Telekinesis, Qrow and Clover’s individual luck/probability manipulations, Weiss’ Glyphs, and Raven’s Portals. Those I feel are usually treated as kind of big deals in some other works.
Also, none of these power sets rely on “mystery” like I’ve seen mention in a lot of Fate stuff. So they have that advantage.
So, to any Fate fans who know WAY more than I do. How would the Fate universe work out for A. characters who aren’t really Human/have messed up existences, and B. their weird power sets? For a minute lets just ignore the fact that Blazblue and UNI’s powers need Seithr and EXS to work alright? alright.

Qrow as Ruby’s Dad
I am fully aware of the ugly can of worms I am opening just by discussing this but whatever. Here we go.
Just a disclaimer, I mean no disrespect to Monty, Miles or Kerry. I am simply stating the possibility and leaving all options on the table.
The idea of Qrow being Ruby’s biological father has been around since Qrow was introduced back in Volume 3. And although it’s been shot down by the creator and current writers of the show, I’m going to go over as much I can to show that the theory/headcanon still has some level of validity.
This is also pretty long so brace yourself.
Point #1: The Writers
Monty originally “debunked” this theory while dismissing another by saying Yang and Ruby were half-sisters. And recently it was debunked again by Miles, who outright said Qrow wasn’t her dad. The word of the Writer’s is, under most circumstances, Law. But let me say this: What is the one thing you are supposed to do above all else? Preserving your narrative, meaning doing everything you can to protect your plot.
Many writers have concealed or just lied to their audience about certain plot points to maintain the story. And just because Monty, Miles and Kerry don’t seem like they would, doesn’t mean they aren’t capable of it.
Why would Monty lie? Because Ruby and Yang being sisters was what he had presented at the time. Qrow was only a name at the time, so revealing so detrimental so soon wouldn’t make any sense for the show’s longevity. Thus, he kept his lips sealed.
Now there’s Miles; why would he outright deny this theory. Well, if I had to guess, it would be to quell the speculation, to stop people from outwardly talking about it. Has he succeeded? For the most part, yes. Fans and Haters alike have stopped discussing it en mass, but it hasn’t stopped fanfic writers and artists much.
While debunking this theory, Miles gave his reasoning to be “Ruby just admires him so much that she mimics a lot of what Qrow does.”.
Let’s unpack that for a moment.
What about Ruby’s character is reminiscent of Qrow? Ruby is, by all accounts, opposite to Qrow in many facets of her personality. She overwhelmingly optimistic, despite witnessing the deaths of Penny and Pyrrha. She’s open and honest, though a bit naive and socially awkward, but after all she’s still a teenager. Qrow, from the few accounts we know of, is actually pretty suave and quite the ladies man too.
Basically, anything Ruby is, Qrow is not. The only real thing that statement applies too, is her love of her scythe, but even then that argument is flimsy. As an impressionable young girl with a passion for weapons/huntsman, and then seeing her uncle wielding the coolest weapon in entire show; I mean who wouldn’t want a scythe at that point.
Point #2: Appearance
First and foremost, the most obvious thing people tend to bring up; Ruby’s appearance. In current canon, Taiyang is Ruby’s father, but you’d never be able to tell as they share absolutely no physical traits or attributes. Already a bit strange, no? Now I get Ruby is SUPPOSED to be a near spitting image of her mom, Summer Rose, but to no share anything with Tai is a bit of stretch.
Then there’s Yang in stark (hehe) contrast; who is a near even split of her parents. She has Raven’s long bushy hair, is taller than most other girls, has Raven’s general shape of face and paler skin, but is blonde and has lilac eyes; a combination of Raven’s red eyes and Tai’s blue eyes (even though that isn’t how genetics works but whatever). Even Yang’s outfits have been greatly inspired by Tai’s in terms of colour palette and design.
Even comparing other characters within RWBY, such as Weiss, Blake or Ren, have a striking resemblance to both their parents/siblings. So for Ruby to not designed in a similar fashion is odd to say the least. Ruby isn’t exactly identical to Qrow by means, she stills shares a great deal more with Qrow than we’ve ever seen with Taiyang.
Qrow is also a fraternal twin. Or in other words, Ruby is also liable to look like Raven too. Male and Female character models are different looking in RWBY, so it’s reasonable to think to Ruby would share some traits with her could-be aunt.
Ruby’s current overall aesthetic has subtle cues from both Qrow and Summer. Dark but red tipped hair, her mother’s eyes and a near identical outfit. Ruby’s cloak is red and tattered like Qrow’s, but large and hooded like Summer’s. Her aura is red, but generates flower petals when she uses her semblance. Ruby even had Cross as her emblem, until it was changed to be the same as her mom’s. But even still, she had cross pins in her cloak till her outfit change in Volume 4. Only one character shares this cross motif, and it’s you guessed it, Qrow.
One minor thing is that Ruby’s alternative outfit in Volume 2, dubbed Slayer, gives her a noticeably large resemblance to Qrow; even more so than her current or former outfits.
I’m very aware that any of this could be just simple coincidence and random choices in design but let me say this. Colour is an underlying basis for RWBY, and it plays a semi essential role in the show’s lore. So for it’s main protagonist’s colour pallette have next to nothing to do with her actual parent, but share parallels and such to someone she has no genetic relation to is, to me, unbelievably suspect. If Ruby was a strawberry blonde or even a bit tanned, we wouldn’t be even having this discussion, but given everything we know, it just doesn’t add up.
I’ve seen a handful of people say that it doesn’t matter that Ruby doesn’t look like Taiyang or It’s okay because not all children look like both parents. Well that may be true in reality, but in RWBY, this is contrary to the underlying theme of the show.
Point #3: Ruby’s Mentor
Let’s look at Ruby’s phenomenal skill with the scythe. As we well know, Qrow was her mentor and taught her most of her current fighting skills. However, this begs the question of why Qrow taught her and not Taiyang. Taiyang is incredibly skilled at hand to hand combat and is evidently a good teacher, as he trained Yang and currently still is a professor/licensed huntsman.
So why is Ruby so utterly abysmal without Crescent Rose? Since she’s Tai’s daughter, you’d think she’d be at least somewhat talented like Yang but such isn’t the case here. Why would Taiyang heavily train Yang, but leave Ruby practically defenseless (given her dream of being a huntress too)? Seems a bit strange no matter how you look at it.
However. There is something I noticed about Qrow. We know and seen how badass he is with Harbinger in tow; his skills are nothing to scoff at. Many in the RWBY universe are aware of Qrow’s prowess and would prefer to not engage him at all. But when Harbinger was wretched from his hand during his fight with Tyrian, he showed that he is capable without his weapon.
The thing that’s intriguing is he looked very rigid and doesn’t seem too confident without his scythe, especially comparing him to hand-to-hand combatants like Yang or Mercury. It felt like it was just a ‘screw it’ moment so to speak. A weird thing to point out, I know, but it creates another parallel between him and Ruby. Masters of the scythe that don’t fare too well without it.
Point #4: Ruby’s Name
A small thing to point is why Ruby has her surname as Rose. Ruby Xiao Long doesn’t flow off the tongue by any stretch, but there must be some other reason why she hasn’t taken Tai’s last name. Is it to honour Summer? Or is it because she isn’t a Xiao Long at all?
Now a point I don’t love but must mention is the line from Qrow’s theme song Bad Luck Charm.
The line in question is “You don’t want the burden of my name”. Many believe it is Qrow referring to Ruby and how she’s better not being known as a Branwen. As Qrow mentioned, his tribe is a group of “killers and thieves” and likely didn’t want a innocent child to be associated with such a group. There’s a chance it could mean he deliberately convinced Summer to let Ruby have her name, to protect her from the Tribe’s retribution. If Ruby was a Branwen on top of being a SEW, it would likely make her a target for not only Salem’s forces but bounty hunters too. (Going after Ruby to punish the “Traitor” so to speak)
Point #5: Qrow’s Semblance
An argument against Qrow being Ruby’s Dad is that it doesn’t make sense to hide the truth from her but then teach her the most difficult weapon to master in Remnant. While at first glance, this is a fair argument, but let me dive a bit deeper.
In Episode 8 of Volume 4, we learned that Qrow’s semblance is Misfortune. It intermittently causes bad luck to every person around him, from simple inconveniences like a bartender dropping a glass to life threatening things like a massive beam almost falling on Ruby. This gives him a logical reason for his loner persona.
He can’t control what will and can happen to his friends, his allies, or his family. He is, much to his own grief, a constant danger to those he loves. Why does this matter? Because he’d be Ruby’s only remaining parent; meaning she’d always want to be with him, ironically putting herself in more danger. He’d keep the truth from her until she was hopefully old to understand why he kept it from her.
Qrow was also a former Professor at Signal Academy. Though most of the details of his career as a teacher are sadly unknown, It can be at least gathered his semblance wasn’t potent enough to cause too much trouble on campus or he’d have never been allowed as a teacher in the first place (perhaps it’s less effective in crowds?).
Now Qrow likely would have trained Ruby in a controlled environment to ensure his semblance would cause as little damage as possible. Qrow and Ruby are arguably the two closest characters in the series as far as we know and they have been shown to be this way. They understand each other, know each other’s mannerisms and Ruby even gets Qrow pervy jokes. So it’s no shock to think Qrow knew much she idolized the hunter lifestyle and helped her live out her dream, all the while getting to spend time with his baby girl.
Point #6: The Timeline
Another thing many have taken note of is the amount of time it took Taiyang to father both Yang and Ruby. The math is a bit difficult as we don’t know Yang’s birthday, but let’s get an estimate.
As of Volume 6, Yang is about 19 and Ruby is about 17.
Ruby’s birthday is October 31st, so she was conceived near the end of January or early February. Yang was likely already around 15 months (give or take) at the time of Ruby’s conception. In short, Taiyang would have had Yang, been abandoned by Raven, gotten together with Summer and impregnated her in little more than a year. A situation like this is not impossible, but it is extremely unlikely.
Getting over a significant other varies per person, but given how Tai talks about Raven; it doesn’t seem like their relationship has run its course quite yet. Summer was most likely helping Tai because he genuinely needed it. Dealing with a newborn and the fact his lover just left him alone, Tai wasn’t exactly in the best state of mind.
In “Two steps forward and two steps back”, Tai finally opens up to Yang about her mother. The way he speaks about Raven feels as though he still fondly remembers her, despite her leaving so abruptly. It feels as if he still loves her, but if that’s the case, why would he shack up with Summer and have another child so quickly? Anyway you slice it, this is a pretty irresponsible thing to do.
UNLESS, Taiyang was never a part of the equation and Summer and Qrow were together the entire time.
Another thing people tend to point is why Qrow would have Ruby believe Taiyang was her father and Yang her sister. Simple, he didn’t want her to feel isolated. Her mom was gone, and he couldn’t there for her. Children can be cruel, and Ruby not having a dad around would definitely be fuel for any and all types of bullying. Making Ruby and Yang “sisters” would have been made things simple; Qrow was already Yang’s Uncle so why not Ruby’s too.
And if this were canon, it would mean Qrow gave up his only child, just so she could have some semblance of a proper family; something he never had or would be able to give her. That is weapon’s grade bittersweet.
A reason Qrow could be hesitant to reveal himself is because of the backlash. Ruby is just a teenager and to drop a bomb on her like that would be a terrible thing to do. Tai wouldn’t be her dad, Yang wouldn’t be her sister and she’d have to come to terms with the fact the two adults she trusted the most have been actively lying to her face her entire life. Qrow is fully aware of the fact of how this revelation could shatter her whole world. So instead of causing her anguish, he lets her live in happy ignorance with her friends.
Point #7: Scenes of Interest
Now there is a handful of moments from the show that highlight the relationship between Ruby and Qrow. I’m going to over a few that are questionable, to me at least.
First the most notable scene is from finale of Volume 3. Ruby is safely at home, in bed, while Taiyang patiently waits for her to awaken. When she does, she asks Tai about what happened. In his brief recollection, he makes a small mention of her silver eyed abilities. Ruby asks him to clarify, but Taiyang immediately dismisses the subject.
Enter Qrow and he then asks Taiyang to “give them a minute”. Taiyang retorts but ultimately leaves to make tea, letting Ruby and Qrow talk. He asks her if she recalls what happened, to which she does through tears. Seemingly out of nowhere, Qrow then asks if she remembered what Ozpin first said to her; something about silver eyes. He goes off about supposed legendary warriors he Grimm singularly feared and how Ruby was special just like her mom.
(The line ‘You’re special, Ruby. and not in the “daddy loves his special angel” kinda way’ is also really interesting. Is it a throwaway line or foreshadowing?)
This seems like a relatively normal scenario until you realize a couple things. Why is Qrow asking Tai to leave the room? And why does Tai give practically no resistance to the notion? Taiyang should have absolute authority, not only as Ruby’s father, but as the owner of the household too. Yet, he relinquishes control of the situation as if it wasn’t his place, as if he knew he shouldn’t be there.
Qrow’s simple yet sincere plea of ‘Tai… please.’ is peculiar because it sounds like he needed to do this, as if it was his responsibility to Ruby. Tai even gives Qrow a small scowl when he exits the room, so there is some discord here, but not enough Tai to act on it. Reinforcing the idea that Tai knows he shouldn’t argue.
Stranger still, Qrow is the one that tells Ruby of her abilities and the first person to liken her to Summer. The fact Qrow, who isn’t an open book by ANY means, was the one to tell her such important albeit limited information about her lineage, while Tai continued to keep as much as he could from her is a dubious sign something is up. As a parent, it should have been Taiyang's duty to comfort Ruby in such trying times, telling her about herself and about Summer.
Another scene that was weird to me was in ‘A Much Needed Talk’. After Qrow finished telling Team RNJR of the gods, maidens, relicts and so on, Ruby asks him if there was anything else he wanted to tell them. A second after she asked, Raven in corvid form perches herself on a nearby branch, prompting Qrow to say “not tonight”. But what could Qrow possibly say that Raven doesn’t already know about? Raven is already privy to Ozpin and Salem’s secret war, about maidens and the relicts. What information could Qrow not want Raven to know about? (A secret child perhaps? Imagine the blackmail between Raven and Qrow if this were the case)
Even over the course of the show, Qrow has been continuously protecting Ruby all her life. Killing Grimm to keep safe and diving in at the last moment when she’s in a real bind. He goes unnecessarily out of his way for her, but doesn’t do the same when his actual niece needs it. Very dedicated for an “Honorary Uncle”.
There are many minor nuances in Volume 6 (specifically Episodes 10-12) as well; many of which having to do with the way Qrow looks when Ruby is danger. When she misses the cliff, the camera switches to Qrow; absolutely horrified when she starts falling.
Another time is when Ruby gets bold and dives into the Mech’s cannon, the camera again pans to Qrow about to have a damn heart attack. The look on Qrow’s face both times conveys the idea of the fact Qrow is terrified of losing Ruby. Perhaps the same way he lost Summer, and perhaps lose the last piece of her he has left. Bottom line is, this doesn’t look like an uncle concerned for his niece, it’s a father worried for the safety of his child.
Lastly, when Qrow catches Ruby after she comes flying out the cannon. The worry on his face tells the same story. The gentle nudge and the panic when she doesn’t immediately wake up is highly reminiscent of when Tai waited for her to wake up in Volume 3; is my baby girl okay?
And a quick shoutout to @anthurak who made a very in-depth post about the Father-Daughter dynamic of Qrow and Ruby in Volume 6. I highly recommend it if haven’t read it already.
Point #8: Qrow’s Alcoholism and Summer’s Death
Though not overtly obvious, it would appear Qrow’s drinking problem and Summer’s passing are intertwined to a degree.
First there is the photo of his team from when they were still together. Why does he tote this ragged photo around with him? Well if you take a closer look, you can make out a ring of condensation around Summer. You typically only get such stains from cups and glasses, so it would seem Qrow used the photo as a coaster to hide the image of Summer.
But why? Well, Summer, being deceased, is the only member of his team he can’t see anymore, but it seems as though he was closer to her than the rest of STRQ.
From what can be gathered, Qrow broke down while drinking over the loss of Summer and was so devastated that he couldn’t even bare to look at a picture of her. Grief like this usually stems from the loss of someone of immeasurable importance to you; a parent, a child, or a significant other.
According to psychology, losing a spouse (child too but not applicable here) is the most stressful thing that can happen to an adult. A loss of this magnitude can have lasting effects for years after their passing. Given Qrow’s previously mentioned breakdown and continuous drinking, it’s very likely that Summer was of said importance to him. I’m not trying to undermine Taiyang’s own grief, giving that he “shut down” when Qrow told him what had happened.
Speaking of which When Qrow was still suffering from Tyrian’s venom, so much so he couldn’t walk, he mumbles something; “Tai… She’s not coming… Tai.”. The line implies that Qrow was there when Summer died and he was charged with letting Tai and the girls know happened.
Another moment that reinforces this is from Episode 10 of Volume 6 (8:12 timestamp). Qrow goes a tirade about he’s causing Jaune’s plan to go awry. Then he says ”I shouldn’t have come, shouldn’t have let any you come. What was I THINKING?”. I don’t know about you but to me that sounds like he’s been down this road before. Like he knows something bad will happen again.
Qrow’s alcoholism is exacerbated when he finds out Salem, the very enemy he’s been fighting against for years, cannot be beaten.
This sends him deeper and deeper into despair and when he socks Ozcar in the jaw, he says “Meeting you was the worse luck of my life”. This is a remarkably harsh thing to say, but it feels as though he isn’t regarding himself in this line. Yes, much of Qrow’s life was spent fighting for Oz and all that time is ultimately wasted, but Qrow has lost many friends and allies in this war as well. Chiefest among them I’d say is Summer. If Qrow was intimate with Summer, then her presumably dying at the hands of Salem’s forces was entirely meaningless. The woman he loved and all the huntsman/huntresses he knew died for a lost cause, which is absolutely tragic.
It’s difficult to discuss Qrow being Ruby’s Dad without mentioning another theory; Was Qrow involved in Summer’s death? I personally think he was, though not intentionally. I’m under the impression Summer sacrificed herself to protect him on her last mission but that’s a topic for another time.
Because of Ruby’s large resemblance to her mom, it has been seen giving Qrow flashbacks of his time with Summer.
When Ruby stands up to Qrow for likely the first time in her life (Volume 6 episode 9), Qrow is not only taken aback by his niece’s strength of will, but is also recognizing how much she is like Summer. The camera angles and shots depict it as if it’s history repeating itself, the daughter walking in the mother’s footsteps. Not letting Qrow spew his bullshit is apparently a Rose thing.
Another time in Volume 6 is when Ruby decides to confront Cordovin alone. Qrow tries to stop her but she shoots a look while saying “i need you to trust me”. Qrow glances back at Ruby, and he ultimately relents, brought down by that stare. He’s definitely heard those words before.
While this may not seem important, it actually lays the foundation for when Qrow finally talks about Summer. After all, besides Yang, he’s the only person who’s actually mentioned her, albeit not by name. (Raven too but that was more of an insult)
Point #9: Thematic Purpose
Qrow being Ruby’s dad I find, adds more than it takes away. It doesn’t do as much for the overlaying plot, it does create many avenues for Character Development.
Take Ruby: she’s been the same bundle of optimism and joy since she first debuted. Then take this and flip it on it’s head. Her faith in her loved ones is now crumbling and is in desperate need of guidance. This revelation could potentially be the most impactful event of her entire life. This scenario would see Ruby peel away from her Paragon attitude and give her much needed development.
It would also explain a curious theme in Volume 4. Every member besides Ruby is seen with their father. Yang is shown training and gaining valuable lesson from Tai. Blake is shown to reconnect with her estranged parents for the first time in years. And sadly, it is shown how far Weiss’s relationship with her family has degraded, particularly with Jacque. Only Ruby is left out of this trend. Or is she? Only one person was beside her the whole time, protecting her from Grimm and Tyrian: Qrow.
This would shed much needed light on Qrow too. It would explain practically he’s done, everything he’s put himself through and why he’s loathed himself the entire way. This creates a unexpected parallel between him and Raven too. If Qrow is Ruby’s father, then it would mean he’s been loving her from the sidelines while never really exposing himself. In contrast, Raven abandoned her family though never denying who she was to Yang.
And speaking of Yang, it gives her and Ruby’s relationship development as well. This revelation would mean they are cousins, not sisters, but they could persevere beyond this fact. Imagine Yang embracing her cousin and simply saying “I don’t care what the truth is. You will ALWAYS be my little sister and nothing will change that.”
And a brief mention to the fact it sheds more light of the dynamic of Team STRQ and by extension Summer herself.
Closing Statement
Not gonna lie, I’m pretty biased on this subject because I adore this theory/head canon and Hummingbird/Flown North is my absolute favourite ship in the fandom without a shadow of a doubt (I prefer the name Hunter’s Dream). I know people who hate this theory/head canon will more than likely shit on this for all it’s worth. But I wanted to finally put my two cents in on this. I will always hope for this to be canon, even though it’s extremely unlikely.
If the writers at one point or another explain/debunk away any of what I've mentioned in the narrative and reinforce the current canon of Taiyang being Ruby’s Dad, I will gladly concede and admit that I was wrong. Until then, I will hold on to the last vestiges of this theory/head canon.
Let a man dream, okay?

Writing Idea: It’s called an AU pt2
Future Jaune cleans up, shows off his middle-aged man bod, then has a long story time with Ozpin. Also his semblance comes in real handy.
_______________________________________________________________________
As his three teammates went about their business, getting dressed preparing for their day. Team RWBY coming and going out of JNPR’s room as they did the same. Jaune sat on his bed engrossed in watching them do tasks he hadn’t seen them do for years. A stab of sorrow pierced through him; this was all so familiar, but far away in his memory.
“Jaune?” Pyrrha called out to him as she brushed her hair, “the shower is free if you want to clean up.”
He looked at himself, at his ragged clothes, and the dirt on his skin, “yeah that’s probably a good idea.” As he pulled off his shoulders the remains of a cloak, revealing attached at his left shoulder a metallic arm. Clean, not pristine, but clearly better maintained than the rest of him.
“Jaune! You’re a cyborg!” Nora rushed over to him taking his mechanical arm in her hands and examining it in wonder.
“A prosthetic . . .” Ren trailing after her, eyeing the appendage noticing an engraving of a rose on the shoulder plate.
“You lost your arm.” Not a question, but a statement Pyrrha had halted her brushing as she stared at the arm as Nora handled it, “when did you lose your arm?”
“Around 10 years ago,” he said simply, the image of Nora messing around with Jaune as he tolerated her antics was nothing new, but the context left an uncomfortable silence in the air. “Guy’s it’s really not that big of a deal, given our career path it’s pretty par for the course.”
“Right. You’re right. Apologies I shouldn’t have stared,” Ren quick to apologize went back to straightening out his bed.
“Do you need help taking your clothes off?” Pyrrha asked genuinely concerned, eyes still on the mechanical limb.
“Why Pyrrha I never thought you’d be so forward,” Jaune teased, almost immediately grimacing. Although nobody noticed, as Pyrrha turned red like a tomato, sending Nora giggling back onto her bed as Jaune waved apologetically, “thanks for the concern, but I’ve had this thing long enough to know how to handle it.”
After the first hot shower in who knows how long, Jaune was feeling better than ever. Trimming his beard from extremely shaggy, to sort of shaggy, and tying his long hair back in a ponytail.
“Jaune we borrowed some clothes from for you to wear until your clothes are clean.” Pyrrha called from the other side of the door.
“Thanks, “Jaune replied as he wrapped a towel around his waist and opened the door. Something his team had clearly not expected when they all did a double take at the sight of his topless form.
“Jaune, lookin good!” Nora whistled at Jaune, then pretended to root around in her wallet, “how much to lose the towel?”
“Nora!” Pyrrha again beat red, shoved the borrowed clothes into his arms, and rushed out the open doorway.
Jaune raised an eyebrow, and looked at Ren for some clarification as if he being topless was something unusual.
“For someone with your aura, you have quite a number of scars.” Ren returned Jaune’s look before going back to examining the scars scattered over his torso.
“Well you know me, never know when to quit,” Jaune said as he slipped the large shirt, and pair of pants on, “ran out of aura few too many times, but I learned my lesson. For the most part.”
“We have classes soon, will you be okay alone, should we stay?” Ren asked placing the book he was reading in his lap.
“Don’t skip on my account, those are valuable lessons Oobleck and Port are giving you.” Jaune gave a derisive snort, smirking as he waved them off.
“Okay, well just behave yourself, and we’ll be back in a few hours.” Pyrrha calling out as she was exiting.
“I’m not a puppy. I’ll probably go finish telling Ozpin about my timeline, then take a walk around campus. Haven’t seen this place in nearly 20 years after all.” Jaune smiles fondly, then laughs to himself, “You have fun with Oobleck, maybe tell him I’m absent because I got switched with an alternate universe version of myself, see how he reacts.”
“Will do!” Nora piped up giving a salute before marching out the door, Ren in tow shaking his head.
Jaune stretched out with a groan, and then went on his way to Ozpin’s office. His memory was reliable enough, though he could have sworn the carpet had been a different color. Jaune stopped in front of the elevator up to Ozpin’s office, “maybe I should take the stairs.” He sighed as the opened the doors, and stepped inside, “Up, not down. Not down.” Jaune clenched his eyes shut when the walls suddenly felt like they were closing in, and counted until he reached the top floor.
“Ah Mr. Arc, you are looking much better now,” Ozpin sat at his desk, a bundle of papers in front of him. Glynda standing to the side, turned to see Jaune, her eyes catching onto the mechanical arm.
Jaune face slightly pallid approached Ozpin’s desk, taking a few labored breathes, before smiling. “It’s surprising what a shower and shave can do to a bum,” Jaune quipped resting his good hand on the back of a chair.
“Please sit,” Ozpin motions to the chair infront of him, moving the papers in front of him to the side, “I’d like to hear more about the world you come from, is that alright?”
“I can only tell you what I know,” Jaune points out as he settles into the seat, declining the offering of a beverage, “where should I start?”
“Of course, of course,” Ozpin sips from his mug, “as for where to start, how about from the beginning.”
And thus Jaune recounted his life’s story all the way up to the Vytal Festival, Glynda growing somewhat agitated as the story droned on.
“Mr. Arc, while I appreciate learning about my students, that was not quite what I meant,” Ozpin adjusted his glasses, and filled his mug again.
“You did say from the beginning, you need to be more specific,” Jaune smirked, feeling a little self-satisfied. Although he flinched when Glynda raised her crop in warning, “okay okay, sorry. Now onto the Vytal Festival.”
Jaune explained what knew, and what he’d seen, it was all very normal. Students everywhere, food stalls, fights, camaraderie, and youthful exuberance. He spoke about how nearing the finals of the tournament Pyrrha became unsure on herself, and came to him with some questions he hadn’t understood at the time, how she’d seemed so distraught. Honestly it made Jaune a bit happy to see Ozpin and Glynda subtly shift when he told them how worried he’d been about Pyrrha. Then came the first match of the finals, Yang against Mercury Black, when Yang had been tricked into being disqualified.
“So then the matches after that were pretty standard, no maiming or over the top violence,” Jaune gesturing as he spoke, “but then Pyrrha went up against Penny Polendina, a huntress-in-training from Atlas. Who we found out was actually an android.”
That got their attention, Ozpin’s eyes grew wide and he hastily set his mug down, while Glynda uncrossed her arms and stepped forward, “An android? As in a robot?”
“From what Ruby told me about her, Penny was the first artificial human ever capable of generating an aura.” Jaune spoke recalling Ruby opening up about another friend she had lost in the Fall of Beacon, “ask Ironwood about it, he helped make her.”
“Yes, I’ll be sure to do that,” Ozpin sat back into his chair, fingers entwined in front of his face, “continue please.”
“Well Pyrrha killed Penny,” Jaune stated simply, “due to her unstable emotional state she lost control of her semblance, which made Penny’s own weapons turn against her.” Jaune clasped his hand together and rested them on his knees, “and that- that was the start of one of the worst nights of my life.”
“Do you believe you were sent back to divert these events, Mr. Arc?”
Jaune spoke quietly shaking his head, “I doubt it, I was in the middle of nowhere before I woke up here, not exactly near any singularities or mad scientists secret labs. Besides if the whole multiverse thing has any standing, it wouldn’t matter what I did here, it wouldn’t change my future. I don’t know how far back, but at least the events of the Vytal Festival had been orchestrated by someone, the person who is hunting the maidens.”
The sound of a mug being dropped could never be so sweet, as the contents of Ozpin’s mug spilled across his desk. “I’m afraid I do not follow Mr. Arc.”
“Don't’ bullshit me Ozpin,” Jaune sat forward, slamming a hand on the desk, “I know about the woman in the vault. I know that the woman in the machine was a fairy tale maiden with magical powers. I know you’re planning on choosing Pyrrha to take her place.” The three sat in silence, Jaune hoping to whatever gods there may be that this was a timeline where all that was going to happen, and he hadn’t just made an ass of himself.
“Yes, you are correct,” the headmaster sighed, pulling out a handkerchief to wipe up the mess, “where is this going Mr. Arc?”
“You die.” Jaune looks Ozpin in the eye, “well kind of, given later events.”
“I die?” Ozpin inquired casually as if he hadn’t just been told of his own demise.
“Sort of. A woman named Cinder follows us down to the vault and kills the fall maiden. Partially my fault, I was supposed to keep guard.” Jaune exhales and rubs his neck, “but to allow Pyrrha and I to escape you stay to fight her, and lose. You ended up in the head of a young boy named Oscar, but we didn’t find that out until later.”
“Ah, I see.” Jaune had never expected to see Ozpin, as well as Glynda, at a loss for words.
“After you lost to Cinder, Pyrrha took it upon herself to stop her,” Jaune’s gaze fell to the floor, “you can guess how that went.”
“I . . . am sorry, Mr. Arc,” Ozpin offered remorsefully, Jaune nodded back.
“But due to that, Ruby activated her Silver-eyed warrior powers,” Jaune continued, lacing his fingers behind his head, “I guess there was some kind of magical power bargain sale I missed.” “But that sent Cinder running, and froze the giant Grimm Dragon that had taken a perch on Beacon Tower. Oh yeah, a giant Grimm dragon came out of a mountain, and started dropping grimm juice all over the city.”
“Gods,” Glynda breathed out, pinching the bridge of her nose.
“I got launched into Vale, so I’m kind spotty on what exactly happened for the stuff I missed,” Jaune cupped his chin, “Yang lost her right arm, and went back to Patch with a comatose Ruby; Blake got stabbed and disappeared; Weiss was taken back to Atlas; Sun and his team went back to Mistral; Ren, and Nora came back with me, Beacon was destroyed with a monster frozen on the tower, and Vale was devastated but still mostly standing.”
“What of the other kingdoms?”
“Well the CCT was taken out in the attack, so we didn’t have any contact with them afterwards.” Jaune leaned back in his seat, expositing events after the Fall, “I didn’t find anything out until Ruby, Ren, Nora and I made it to Mistral almost a year later. But Atlas closed its borders, no trade or dust shipments to other kingdoms. Mistral & Vacuo were largely unaffected, or that’s what it seemed.”
“A dust embargo? Closed borders?” Glynda adjusts her glasses a sharp look to her eyes, “for what reason would Atlas cut them selves off like that?”
“Well the CCT didn’t go down until after video of Atlas androids and mechs attacking the people of Vale was transmitted to every kingdom.” Jaune tilted his head, and closed his eyes as he went on, “they were wary of the other kingdoms suspecting them of being involved in the attack.”
“So obviously the thing to do is stop all outside contact and not answer any questions,” Glynda crossed her arms, her mouth in a displeased frown.
“And you said that Mistral and Vacuou ‘seemed’ unaffected?” Ozpin inserted himself back into the conversation.
“Well Vacuou was a mystery until much later, but as it turns out Professor Lionheart was in bed with the enemy.”
Ozpin stilled, “such accusations are grave Mr. Arc, the headmaster of Haven Academy is a trusted personal friend.”
“Not an accusation, just saying what happened in my timeline,” Jaune shrugged, then turned his to return Ozpin’s stare, “he thought by aiding Salem, that he would be spared.” His expression turning neutral, and cold, “in the end he died, a fool and a traitor.”
Ozpin and Glynda exchanged looks, mulled the thought over for a moment. The older man pulled his glasses off and rubbed his eyes, “I suppose the possibility should not be completely put off the table.”
“After Beacon & Vale, then it was Mistral’s turn. The kingdom was brought down from the inside, and from there it was just race to keep the kingdoms standing.” Jaune gaze lowered to the Beacon emblem on the side of Ozpin’s mug, “we just kept going from place to place trying to stop Salem and her ‘Council of Evil,’ but in the end we were just playing catch up. The seeds for their plans had been sown years in advance, for kids like us, who didn’t even finish their first year of training. We didn’t have a chance to begin with.”
“You never struck me as a defeatist, Mr. Arc,” Ozpin cleaned his glassed before placing them back in place.
“I’ve always tried very hard to hide it,” Jaune grinned, but his eyes weren’t playing along, “all the kingdoms fell, at least from a governmental standpoint. Whatever citizens and huntsmen remained were scattered to the wind. Our group joined up with anyone else we could find and tried to reclaim some of the ruined cities. But in the end none of us could rebuild a kingdom.”
“Is that it?” Glynda seemed agitated, hands on her hips, “you lose, and give up?”
“If only it were that easy,” Jaune replied to Glynda with resignation, “No any still living civilians, and huntsmen are either trying to live out in the wilderness, or made their way to Amity Base.”
“Amity Base? As in Amity Coloseum, it still existed even after all that?”
“It was actually one of the few things still functional, the left over huntsmen organized to set up there, and turned into a mobile base, and refuge for anyone seeking shelter.” Jaune smiled at the memory, “converted the thing to solar, stocked up on supplies, and it’s been the closest anyone has gotten to rebuilding a society, outside of temporary shanty towns.”
“What had you been doing at that point Mr. Arc?” Ozpin noticed Jaune hadn’t mentioned himself in all this.
“Oh, I was around for all that, I was part of the group that reclaimed Amity, and did a lot of searching for survivors to send back there,” Jaune’s expression fell as he went on, “up until around ten years ago, we directly went up against Salem’s lackies again. The first time in a while, it was bad, but we were stronger than we were as kids.” His hand went up to his left shoulder, “we got some of them, and they got some of us. Nobody lost, but sure as hell nobody won. That was when I lost my arm, and what remained of my team.” Jaune’s face fell, “and . . .”
“And?” Ozpin looked at Glynda out the corner of his eye, who nodded, “is everything alright, Mr. Arc?”
“Fine. Just bad memories,” Jaune didn’t seem particularly emotional, mostly just tired. “Long story, short. I was around doing things, until I wasn’t. I haven’t been back to Amity in a while.”
“You left?”
“After that battle I felt it better to go,” Jaune continued, “I had a feeling I wasn’t the only one.”
“What did you do after that?”
“I had a prototype prosthetic arm bolted onto me, got a new weapon, and went anywhere other than Amity, just searching. I figured I’d either find what I was looking for, or get killed by something,” Jaune shrugged, a good-natured smile on his face for such a morbid thought.
“And what was it you were looking for?”
“Survivors to send back to Amity, any leftover huntsmen that could help, the Maidens, supply caches, my family; if any of them are still alive.” Jaune crossed his arms, and slouched in his seat, “just about anything I can find really, I’ve spent the last ten years doing that and haven’t set one step back on Amity since.”
“Did you find the Maidens, or your family?”
Jaune jaw set in a line, “Nope.”
“And you have been gone for ten years, you said?”
“Around ten or so,” Jaune rubbed the back of his neck, “If I find any resources, or supply storages, I send the location back to Amity. If I come across survivors I try to escort them to safety, so I’m kept busy at least.”
“You do not return, but act in its interest, why?.”
“What else would I do?” Jaune laughs softly, “It’s just about the only thing left to fight for. And even if I don’t go back, there are still things I care about there.”
“There are?”
“Yes.”
“Care to elaborate?”
“Not particularly.”
A silence settled, as everyone in attendance understood that this conversation had come to an end. Ozpin stood smoothly, and offered his hand to the younger man across from him.
“Well that was an enlightening experience Mr. Arc. Regardless of whether or not events in this world will go the same way, what you said has given us quite a bit to think about.”
“Yeah well, it felt kind of nice to talk to someone for a change.”
“And if you are ever in need of someone to listen, we are here.”
“I’ll keep that in mind, haven’t had these kinds of luxuries in a long time, I’ll be sure to take full advantage,” Jaune chuckled as he stood up, leaning forward to shake Ozpin’s hand.
“If you need anything please tell me,” Glynda offered as she placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Well actually, there is one thing . . . “ Jaune intentionally drifted off, before fixing Ozpin with a look, “take me to the Fall maiden.”
The interior of the elevator felt smaller with more people in it, Jaune tried to focus on the sound of his own breathing.
“You believe that your semblance can heal her?” Glynda was rightfully skeptical, glancing at Jaune out of the corner of her eye, arms crossed in front of her.
“Heal? No. My semblance enhances the natural capabilities of aura, from what I know, the Fall maiden had part of her soul ripped out of her body along with the maiden powers. Jaune still had has his eyes closed, “with part of her gone, and the constant pull of the other half of the maiden powers, her aura probably can’t recover enough to stabilize her.”
“So you believe if you can amplify her aura enough, she will start to recover on her own?” Ozpin sounded as dry and mundane as always, but there was a tint of curiosity to his voice.
“I don’t see any harm in trying.”
Ozpin hummed, his lips pulled into a small pleased smile.
“Are you alright, Mr. Arc?” turning to face him Glynda her head tilted concern coloring her features.
“Fine.” Jaune said a bit too snappish, taking a deep breath. “Fine, sorry. I’m just bad with small spaces.”
The elevator lurching to a stop as the final ding sounded, and the doors open to a massive, dark hallway at the end of which stood a peculiar machine. The walk towards the end of the room was silent, the sound of footfalls and clicks of cane and heels echoed off the walls eerily.
Jaune breathing steadily once outside the confines of the elevator, couldn’t help to think how Pyrrha felt walking these same areas for the first time. The memory of how Ozpin had led her down her, how he imagined she must have felt in those moments. It made his stomach turn.
Ozpin and Glynda came to a halt before him, looking at Jaune expectantly.
Stepping forward, gazing through the frosted glass of the pod on the left, his gaze fell onto the figure of the women inside. How long had she been in there? How aware is she? Has she just been in eternal torment since she’d been attacked? Jaune’s chest clenched at the thought, he’d get an idea soon enough. “Can you open it?”
Fingers dancing across the console Ozpin had the pod open in short order, a chilled air spreading out from the source.
Coming as close to the pod as he can, Jaune reaches in to take the stranger’s hand, the cold stiff skin making it almost seem as if she was already dead. But he could feel it faintly, her aura, her soul. Reaching out to it with his own, he felt the connection take hold, almost desperately the other aura latched onto his, suckling at his in an effort to live. Rather than resist, he pushed his aura forward allowing the woman to take all he had to offer. He felt her fear, and anxiety. The pain, the burning hunger. All of it subsiding as he fed her his aura, the shine of his semblance enveloping both of them, and filling the dark, underground vault with warm light.
“Astounding.” Speaking for the first time since they had arrive, Glynda standing in awe of what she saw, pressing her clenched hands against her chest.
The headmaster in contrast staring silently at the display fluctuating on the console, but rising nonetheless, daring to hope. Pressing his lips into a thin line, eyes darting over to and fro, hands clenched white on the edge of the console.
A groan, a small groan rising out of the throat of the once comatose woman, her body shifting slightly for the first time. Her eyes opening just a crack, looking into the blue eyes of the man holding her hand.
“Welcome back to the land of the living.” Jaune softly whispering to her, smiling in what he hoped was a nonthreatening way.
The woman attempting to speak, but her throat too dry, having gone too long without use, croaking out sounds instead. Her eyes beginning to tear up, squeezes his hand with what little strength she has.
“It’s okay, you’re going to be okay.” Jaune taking her hand in both of his, beginning to hum a soothing tune, as the woman’s eyes drift shut again. He continued until his aura gave out, slouching slightly with exertion, the woman’s chest rising and falling steadily in a slumber.
“All vitals are green and staying there; she’s stabilized.”
“I don’t believe it.” Glynda moving to Ozpin’s side to examine the console along side him. “She’s really- she’s going to be okay.”
“She’ll need time to re-acclimatize to having her aura at full, I imagine having gone so long without, it might be a shock to her system.” Jaune standing a bit shakily, but stepping away from the pod without issue, looking at the sleeping woman with a small smile. “I’m no doctor, but I’d recommend she take it easy for a while. You probably shouldn’t take her out of the machine, until we can be sure her aura is capable of regenerating on it’s own.”
“Of course. I-” Glynda turning on her heel, to face Jaune with a look of elation, before straightening herself out, “Yes, we’ll be keeping her closely monitored, and while notify you if your services are needed again.”
Ozpin back still to both of them, hunching over the console like some kind of buried treasure.
Jaune wasn’t sure he’d heard a thing he had just said. “Well, I’ll be around.” Turning towards to elevator, with a wave.
Glynda’s voice halting his progress calling out softly, but carrying impossibly well across the massive room, “Jaune, thank you.”
Jaune smiled at her, before he moving to the elevator, and he raising his hand to lightly slap his face thinking, ‘still not a dream,’ to himself. Inside looking down at his good hand opening and closing it. The dings of the elevator resonating deep in his ears, pressing his eyes shut, and clenching his fist. Inhaling deep, deliberately keeping his breathing steady as the elevator continued upwards.

Can I ask something about that post from a few weeks ago about Yang's arm in fanfiction? I'm not trying to start a fight or anything, I'm just confused, because I can see both sides of the argument and can't figure out where I land on it.
I think there are a few facets to the whole issue that need to be considered. I can see where people are coming from with the argument that it’s erasure and ableism to write Yang in an AU without losing her arm. It’s a particularly potent idea, not least because at this point– and I mean this in an unequivocally positive way– fandom and people in broader contexts are becoming more and more conditioned into being aware of, and accordingly more concerned with, the importance of representation for people who are disabled. Representation matters, I think we can all agree on that.
But at the same time, Yang in canon suffered a disabling injury and then was provided a prosthetic that is, in many ways, more functional than her own arm. Her storyline post-volume three isn’t about her learning to live with a physical disability so much as it’s about her learning to live with the mental and emotional trauma associated with the incident that resulted in the loss of her arm. She got a highly advanced prosthetic that has the strength, dexterity, and capability of not just her own arm, but her own arm with the addition of the gauntlet she normally wore. There’s a reason we see very little of her struggling with having just one arm before she starts using the prosthetic, and basically nothing of her struggling with fighting after she has the prosthetic– the only remnants we see affecting her physical ability are the tremors in her other arm, which are exclusively tied to her mental and emotional wellbeing– and that’s because her arc isn’t about dealing with a physical disability, it’s about dealing with emotional and mental trauma.
So, given that, we then get to the idea of fanfiction AUs, specifically AUs that exist in versions of our own world. It’s important to take into consideration, I think, how alternate universe fics function. Taking the characters from RWBY and putting them in an equivalent universe to our own– where there’re no semblances, no auras, no Grimm, no highly advanced robotics technology that can functionally replace a human body part– and trying to tell their stories requires adaptations to accommodate the different context. You can’t write Blake in a contemporary AU as a faunus activist who was pulled over into terrorism through an abusive relationship before escaping and trying to do good in the world to correct her mistakes, because there aren’t faunus in this world, but you can write her as a labor rights activist, an indigenous peoples’ activist, any other kind of activist dealing with overturning oppression: you adapt her storyline to exist in the universe you’re writing in. You can’t write Weiss in a coffee shop AU as an heir to a dust company that’s exploiting faunus labor because those things don’t exist in this universe, but you can write her as, idk heir to Lockheed Martin for all I care. The important parts of both of their storylines will hold without there being a one to one carryover.
The same thing applies to Yang and her injury. Yang’s canon arc associated with her arm is, fundamentally, suffering enormous instantaneous trauma resulting from an attempt to protect someone she loves, and the associated mental recovery afterwards. She doesn’t have lingering or chronic issues with her physical capabilities; rather, she has lingering issues with PTSD that affect her mental state. Creating a parallel to that in a real-world AU requires acknowledging that her arc was about mental trauma more than it was about a physical one, and writing her, in a universe where there aren’t highly functional prosthetics like the one she has in canon, as an amputee and placing the focus on the physical side of her trauma over the mental one, like canon did, is a fundamental misunderstanding of her storyline. A properly constructed AU takes existing characters and places them into a new context, while maintaining their fundamental characteristics and the heart of their storylines, and Yang’s story isn’t about her becoming an amputee, it’s about dealing with emotional trauma.
Separate from all of that is the thing that really peeved me about the whole discourse, which is the idea that it’s erasure of disability to write Yang in an AU where she has a major arm injury that doesn’t result in amputation. I’ve waxed rageful enough about that already, presumably, but it’s a particular type of infuriating to see arguments about erasure of disability that are in themselves erasing disabilities by insisting that the only proper way to write Yang in an AU is as an amputee.
So yeah. I can’t tell you where to land on it, but I know where I’ve landed.
#AUs are more complicated to write than a lot of people seem to think#or least to do them well#you have to have a really strong understanding of how the characters function#and how they exist in their environments#and be able to identify what's innate and what's circumstantial#and understand what the focus of their storyline is so that you can adapt it to a new context and circumstance#and how that would change how things play out#the presumption that it's just slapping characters into a coffee shop or w/e is obnoxiously reductive#as is the idea that it's erasure to adapt a storyline surrounding an injury and a disability to suit the environment it's being written in#representation matters but it's not just a question of doing it blindly without consideration of the context#anonymous#rwby#the discourse (tm)#i'm here to annoy you on a friday with my snobbery about AUs apparently#u welcome

For the fandom ask: RWBY
I fucking love RWBY! Like, it’s so unique! Characters based off of fictional inspirations thrown into an alternate universe with all sorts of un-explainable things? It’s amazing! Grimm? Semblances? Magic? Aura? Dust? I love it! Sure, sometimes the writing can be a bit wonky, but when it comes down to it, the show is very good!

CELESTINA BLACK // 47 // WITCH
❝ The subtle grace of gravity. The heavy weight of stone.❞
___________________________________________________________________
BIOGRAPHY
Celestina Black never expected to have power. Born to an Original Witch father and a human mother in North Carolina, her family was never connected to any coven or semblance of status. Her father had rejected Witchcraft years before her birth and she was never raised around the customs, despite her immense potential for power. Growing up, Celestina always felt a connection to the stars, the universe, the air around them in a way she couldn’t explain. She could feel a person’s aura, understand the patterns of the world and the way things unfolded. Almost psychic, but not quite so. She knew better than to ask her father to expand on her power or explain it to her. And instead, carried on, a human wild child in her early years.
When Arvin Black showed up at her door, he was the opposite of wild. Well manicured, in a perfect suit, walking on a cane. He was beautiful. With angular bone structure and a wide smile, eyes that shone the darkness of the night skies that Celestina had spent her life staring at. And he wanted her hand in marriage. Arvin had searched high and low for a wife with Original Witch status (50% Original Blood or more) and had come up empty handed. Some women did not want to fall into his families known patriarchal ways, others were eager to take his hand but ultimately not of the bloodline that they claimed. He’d used a ritual to track Celestina’s magic. And though he found it unbridled and untrained, he promised a life of fulfillment and power for the both of them.
Celestina’s mother urged her against the plan, warning her not to sell her life for politics, certain that there was no way Celestina could know if she loved a man she had only just met. But under all of Celestina’s rebellion and wild ways was a search for something more, a true longing to find greatness, to find the limit of her power, to earn status.
She got along with Arvin’s family instantly, most notably his father, Angelo Black. Angelo was dying but he taught Celestina everything she needed to know in a way her own father never had. He talked of the way her and Arvin were meant to be together, of the psychic energy the Blacks cultivated, of how much greater that became with Celestina’s divine connection to the stars. He taught her astrology and how to read signs. In later years, after the death of Angelo, Arvin would grow to reject much of Celestina’s magic, urging her to focus on things that he deemed powerful. Urging her to focus on raising their three children, on cultivating her son’s power so that one day, he might take on the family name.
Arvin’s deepest secret was that he was dying, not in a dissimilar way from his father. A genetic curse, supposedly, never talked about in the light of day. But Arvin’s desire for a lineage, for a son, and a wife and power were all in an effort to be sure his family’s name carried on. In a twist of fate, Arvin’s passing revealed a change in the Black Family’s Grimoire, written in blood ink, by the Family’s Coven Leader at the time, Angelo Black, and completely irrevocable: The Black Family would no longer pass its leadership only through men. And as such, Celestina Black became the leader of the Black Family Coven.
Inheriting the role of Coven Leader was everything Celestina had worked for and desired, despite having never anticipated its possibility. But she was struck again, by more things she had not expected, with the rise of Witch Hunters in her time. Despite her husband’s desire to have children for the sake of lineage, Celestina loved and worshipped each of her children individually, and felt a deep responsibility toward protecting them and witches like them. She quickly found another husband, Corvus Jin, another Original Witch without a Coven, to keep her family strong and sturdy and has since opened the doors of Carden Manor to all of witch kind. No one knows for certain whether Celestina has truly loved any of her husbands, or if everything she’s ever done has been for politics. But given her strength and dignity, very few bother to ask.
______________________________________________PERSONALITY/TRAITS
Much like the politics of her world, Celestina Black is ice cold and traditional. Everything she knows about the world of Witchcraft was taught to her by her husband’s conservative, traditional family. She believes firmly that werewolves are a subservient class, does not suffer fools of Holistic Witches and considers Immortals a stain on the elegance and practice of magic. She’s cut throat, buttoned up, and furiously smart. But underneath it, cares for her children beyond any shadow of doubt, even her son, Alistar who is known for his vitriolic attitude and disdain for impure witches. Celestina is a survivor, who will protect her family at all costs, and push the political game for power as far as it will take her. Despite that, she has a gentle hand and a heart that could warm to the right people, a trait of hers that her son finds dangerous and irredeemable.

Miraculous Ladybug RWBY AU
So, in the discord, @uptosometrixx and I started coming up with this au but we didn’t actually realize someone has already done this, and we actually came up with the same name for the main team, but we think we might have a bit more to contribute to our spin on it. SO:
Students at Beacon are suddenly going berserk and losing control of their semblances and aura. There are rumors circulating that it is due to them having large quantities of dust forcibly injected into their bodies, and they’re becoming overwhelmed by the power inside of them. A group known as the Masked Huntsmen and Huntresses have been the ones to put an end to each outbreak, but no one quite knows who they are or where they come from.
Side note: The story takes place without all that junk with Salem and Ozpin. We aren’t doing a Fall of Beacon or a perfectly lining up AU. Likewise, Kwamis and the Miraculous powers are being carried over and translated differently into this universe.
Marinette is a freshman year student who was chosen as the leader of Team MANA (again, we accidentally chose the same name as the other au, not a lot of letters to work with so), which came as a surprise to everyone since she was picked instead of Adrien, the son of the headmaster, Gabriel Agreste. She still uses her Yo-Yo as her weapon, but her semblance is the ability to “summon” the right thing or always create/find the right solution. Similar to Jaune, she also has a large amount of aura.
On the first day of class, Aurora was the first once to get afflicted/akumatized. Marinette and Adrien were nearby when it happened, and Aurora’s semblance flooded the area with fog, allowing the two of them to fight and subdue her without anyone seeing. No one knows who stopped Aurora, but the two were seen comforting her when she woke up.
Marinette and Adrien keep their involvement in the attacks hidden from Alya and Nino, their other team members, until they can’t anymore and need the extra help.
Marinette makes masks for Adrien and her temporarily to help conceal themselves after the first attack, but as more begin to happen, she makes full costumes and they take up the title of the Masked Huntsmen and Huntresses. Alya and Nino get their own when they join too.
Marinette also makes plush toys that she gives each person who joins their team. They resemble each person/they look like the “kwamis”.
It is discovered that the person behind the attacks is someone in the school and possibly on the staff, so it is imperative that they hide their identities so they don’t get expelled or targeted themselves.
Marinette realizes that the people who are being transformed are ones who are trying to find alternative means of strengthening their semblances, as many students feel inadequate or not strong enough. She takes it upon herself to encourage and train with her friends to help them feel more confident in their power.
For the students who join the vigilante team, Marinette’s help allows them to unlock extra abilities they can use in combat. They decide to reserve these parts of their semblance for when they’re trying to stop a rampaging student so that people can’t connect their masked persona to them through their abilities.
Gabriel Agreste is the one behind the attacks, and he is using students as experiments and his semblance allows him to inject the dust into them. Chloe is on a different team and despises that Marinette was chosen as the leader over Adrien, and Marinette herself doubts her abilities multiple times because of her clumsiness and cowardice. However, as she begins to help her friends grow stronger, others begin to see her as the most deserving of the position even if she doesn’t. When the students find out about Gabriel, they charge Beacon with Marinette in front. Everyone realizes that Marinette’s large aura was what had been helping them improve their semblance, but they stand by the belief that it was Marinette’s heart and encouragement that helped them persevere.
This is all we have so far, and it’s very loosely connected and we’ve stretched some of the rules in RWBY to do it, but we’ll be adding to it as we think of it! Please message me if you have questions or any ideas!

Ink and Friends
Fandom: Sleepy Dream AU. First here. Previous here.
Characters and pairing: Dream, Ink, Nightmare, Outerfell Sans, nameless OCs, Underfell Sans, Underswap Sans, Dreammare
Warnings: none
Word count: 3,709
Summary: Dream and Nightmare go to an Outerfell.
Dream made his way into Stardin, his senses on high alert. Although this was more or less a post-pacifist timeline, it was also a Fell timeline and there was some sort of trouble going on somewhere within this timeline… Then again, Outer AUs were quite large, and what might be trouble brewing in the capital might not affect an outlying area such as Stardin as immediately in a timeline like this, as it would in say, an Underground timeline. Then again, the means and methods of communication were very swift so at least the guards and sentries might already be scrambling to go to high alert. He noted that no one seemed to be in any of the outside common areas of Stardin - curious that. There weren’t any notices informing people to stay indoors or to remain in their homes…
He hummed thoughtfully as he made his way over to Grillby’s - unless something awful was going on, there would at least be a few people inside - and if he was lucky, there would be a media device playing news or something that would give him a bit more information on what might be going on - if the local leaders had decided to release any public statement about the issue - they might not have released the information just yet for a number of reasons. Dream’s hand was on the door to Grillby’s, about to open it when a voice rang out behind him.
“Dream, is that you?”
He turned quickly and beamed at Nebula, nodding a little and waving cheerfully. The Outerfell Sans was with a couple of monsters and some humans - all of whom were in very nice, well-kept clothing… Including Nebula himself, who tended to not stand on ceremony unless he absolutely had to as head arbiter of Monsterkind “Hello Sans!” He greeted cheerfully, walking over to the other, reminding himself to call the other Sans rather than his nickname as that might cause confusion.
“Dream… Are you… Is… .Fuck, this isn’t the fucking time for subtleties - and don’t gasp at me like that! I curse whenever I damn well want too. Dream, are Ink and Blue with you? Or any of the others? I… I hadn’t realized that you knew the coordinates to my AU…” Nebula asked, teleporting over to Dream and dragging him back towards the others, scowling at the humans who gasped in shock at his coarse language.
“I… No if you’re talking about my usual travelling companions. I’m not here with any of them….Neb, what’s wrong? You’re really… All over the place. What’s going on?” Dream asked, gently grabbing both of the other’s hands and using his aura to help the younger skeleton to calm down. “And I didn’t know which Outerfell was yours, I was brought here.”
Nebula blinked a little and let out a relieved breath “Thank fuckin’ Asgore for that. Things are weird enough without Ink shoving in here… Wait - if… If Ink didn’t bring you here and… Who did bring you here? There’s a… Hell, there’s some sort of splinter faction made up of a number of humans and monsters who are trying to topple the ruler of this universe and they were going to start by taking the human leaders as well as the Dreemurs as hostages in order to try to get some concessions from him.”
“Arbiter Sans, why are you telling this random monster delicate matters of state?!” One of the humans and two of the monsters hissed, panic in their souls and voices as they surrounded the both of them.
“Dream isn’t just a random monster. He’s the source of all happiness and positivity in the multiverse. If there’s anyone who can talk those assholes down before murder-tentacles shows up and slaughters the hotheads who thought this was a good idea in the first place, it’s him.” Nebula growled, glaring narrowly at both of them, a hint of magic in his voice. “Especially as he won’t particularly fucking care if the Dreemurs or human leaders end up dead- the callous bastard.”
“Uhm… You wouldn’t… Ah… I mean, this ruler, I am assuming that he is neither the Dreemurs or however the humans of this alternate universe… But rather an extraordinarily powerful traveller from a different universe?” Dream murmured lightly, his voice gentle “And I am not the source of all positivity in the multiverse... People had positive feelings before I was created, though I am a source of enduring positivity. Nightmare’s already in this universe, actually.”
All of the mortals assembled flinched and shuddered, and Nebula whispered, his voice barely audible “Don’t say his stars-damned name so loudly! I’m convinced that he can hear it when his name is spoken… And how do you know that for sure?”
“I doubt that his first approach will be to kill everyone involved - why you all seem so convinced of this, I do not understand. He doesn’t want all of you dead, like Error does.” Dream sighed, wondering silently if he should tell Nebula the truth or some semblance of it. Given how tense and worried the small group of humans and monsters were when he said his name “As for how I know that Nightmare’s here already - oh please do stop shaking. He’s not that terrifying. I can sense him, if we’re in the same timeline.” He couldn’t help but roll his eye lights a little at their kind of dramatic reaction to that. Mortals could get all sorts of strange thoughts in their heads… Although Nebula was generally a bit more level headed than this.
“I… Wait. What? Why can you sense him if you two are in the same timeline together? Can he sense you? Why are you so calm? He’s like… Negativity… Incarnate…” Nebula responded, his eye lights widening before shrinking to pinpricks “You… You wouldn’t happen to also know Nightmare would you? Has… Has Ink met him?” Nebula asked, his voice becoming very small as he started to shake.
“I… Hey...Nebula… Easy… Just take in some deep, steady breaths. You’re okay. It’s going to be fine… As far as I know Ink and NIghtmare haven’t met… But yes, Nightlight and I know one another very well, or at least we used to… We had a bit of a falling out… A while ago and after I…” Dream stopped talking abruptly, his eye lights dimming and shrinking a little “... Nightmare and I have started to reconnect in the past couple of days. He brought me here before having to rush off to deal with the current crisis in your AU. I’m… Fairly sure that murder won’t be the first thing that he’ll use when dealing with the rebels, depending on if they have those important hostages or not.”
“And how are you so certain of this, if you’ve only recently began to interact again? And just who are you to speak of… of King Nightmare in such a manner?” The rest of the mortals in Nebula’s little group sputtered, their eyes wide with shock and confusion.
The positive spirit had to try very hard not to burst out laughing at the seriousness with which they spoke about Nightmare. He was certain that the other had crafted a very specific image he wanted the mortals to believe in him… And there was also… How he had handled the villagers who would have killed them both if… And Dream shivered a little, one of his hands coming up to lightly rub a couple of his cervical vertebrae, remembering the painful force with which the other’d held him by as the other had thrown him about… They had every right to fear Nightmare’s wrath and he shouldn’t ignore the dust and blood on the other’s hands, much as he would wish to… How much easier it would be. “That is… Not something I am sure I am at liberty to discuss with you. If Nightmare hasn’t told you, than it is likely for good reason.” His good mood had vanished, though he mentally shook himself. He’d desperately missed Nightmare, and they depended on one another for survival - in apparently more ways than one. But he needed to keep his mind clear, to try to encourage the other to be merciful. He probably should have gone to that meeting, especially if it involved hostages. Emotions would be running high and a bit of positivity would likely help ease the situation… But he didn’t know anything about the politics of this world and had been keeping his interference in different timelines to a minimum per Ink’s insistence…
Nebula’s emotional aura filled with irritation and protective concern. The alternate Sans shoved a couple of his fellow arbiters out of the way, growling irritably under his breath at them “For Asgore’s fuckin’ sake, you couldn’t keep your damn mouths shut.” The younger skeleton gently touched one of Dream’s shoulders, his voice warmer and gentler “Hey… It’s going to be okay. I don’t know how or why you know Nightmare, but I haven’t contacted any of you in months to try to keep him from finding out about you all… I’m going to go call Ink, so he can get you outta here before, tall, dark and goopy shows up again. The fucker can be incredibly charming when he wants to be, so there’s no shame in… Whatever you did with him, alright? ‘Specially considering how powerful he is.” Nebula teleported off before Dream could say anything else.
Dream tried to take a couple of steps back - to get away from this strange group of mortals and to sort himself out a little - maybe go chase after Nebula as he… He didn’t know how well Ink and Nightmare would get along, especially if his mate was surprised by the sudden presence of the powerful and very mischievous guardian. His beloved didn’t tend to take surprises like that very well. Before he or they could do anything, a dark tentacle came out of nowhere and wrapped itself around Dream’s waist and he was suddenly pulled over to Nightmare’s side. The taller skeleton wrapped his arms around Dream, hugging him close and gave him a light kiss to the teeth, murmuring quietly “Are you alright, Dream?” his gaze and aura full of warm concern and love.
The positive spirit more or less melted into his beloved’s arms, hugging him close and nodding “Yes, I’m fine, Moonlight… Just a little bit overwhelmed is all… The mortals are pretty tense because of the… the stuff that’s going on and it’s getting to me a little, haha… How did the negotiations go?”
“They went well - as soon as the being trouble realized I was actually here, they backed down /and became much more reasonable.” Nightmare answered, pressing another light kiss to Dream’s teeth, his aura showing that he was pleased with how the negotiations had gone. “I see you managed to find the lead arbiters of this AU - apart from the Sans of this world. Hmm, interesting.”
“Oh? You mean Nebula? I talked to him for a bit, then he went off to-” He paused for a moment and his eye lights widened a little as he spotted a rainbow portal opening up. Sure enough, Ink stepped through “Never mind! Come on!” With a broad grin he started running, holding on tight to Nightmare, a giddy laugh leaving his lips as the two of them fled Stardin.
Nightmare’s visible eye light was wide as Dream opened a portal and the two of them ran through it. How long has it been since he heard Dream laugh like that? Has… “You… You’re so gorgeous when you laugh, my love…” He murmured, voice and aura filled with awe as he pulls his other half closer, pressing another kiss to his teeth. How could he have ever been so furious with Dream? He glanced around the world that his beloved had taken him too, frowning just a little as he did not recognize it at all “Where have you taken me, love?”
“I… I had intended on bringing us home, but apparently I took us to Blue’s place, instead… Considering how often I crashed here with him, I suppose it’s not surprising.” Dream responded with a light blush, nuzzling into his beloved. “Blue is a Swap!Sans, and a dear friend of mine…”
“I… I’d like to meet him.: Nightmare answered after a moment, smiling quietly. His tentacles wrapped a little tighter around Dream, and there was a bit of nervousness in the other’s aura. “This world is quite… Positive.”
The positive spirit frowned a little as he sensed Nightmare’s uncertainty and distress grow a little “... Hey, Nighty...Nightlight please look at me I care for my friends… But I love you. The only reason why I hid from you for so long is because I thought that you might… Might hurt me. NOw that I know better, I promise I won’t leave for nearly as long, though I my wander from time to time with my friends - or at least help ink when Error’s on a rampage.”
Nightmare looked as if he was about to ask a question, when he heard Red call out “Dream? Is that your voice I hear?” The Underfell Sans teleported from wherever he was to in front of the both of them, taking one look at the both of them and yelling over one shoulder, bones and blasters suddenly appearing “HEY GUYS! DREAM’S BEEN CAPTURED BY SOME FUCKIN’ WERIDO AGAIN. BOTH OF THEM ARE HERE. HELP ME RESCUE HIM!”
Dream buried his face in his hands. Not this assumption again. Although the last time this had happened, both of them only had four limbs. He sighed and called out as Sci, Blue, Hearts, Outer, Blood, Blackberry, Razz and Classic all teleported in front of them. Stretch, Edge and Pup came running, with Desire and Thorn hot on their heels. He feels Nightmare shift into a defensive stance, holding him protectively, irritated resignation rising within his beloved’s aura. “Wait… Guys…” He called out, looking up at them and trying to reach out to his mortal friends and calm down their agitated and protectively concerned auras “He hasn’t captured me… As some of you were previously aware, I have a mate. I’m not sure how you were able to figure that out Hearts, Thorn, Desire, and Blood, but you are entirely correct. This is Nightmare, my mate and dearly beloved. So please banish your weapons, there’s no need for violence.”
All of them freeze rather comically for a couple of seconds, before their attacks vanish. Blue steps forwards, closer to where both of the emotive guardians are standing “Sorry… It’s just… We haven’t heard from you in weeks and Nebula sent a very strange message about you to Ink. You were… You were in really rough shape last time any of us saw you…” His aura is filled with genuine concern and curiosity. “You never answered our calls or texts… And we’ve been very worried.”
Dream blinks a little bit in surprise “I… I hadn’t realized that much time had passed. Nightlight and I have been catching up with one another and… I must have lost track of the time.” It was a little strange that he didn’t hear his phone go off But he’s just been so focused on his beloved and reconnecting with him, he’s not surprised that everything else has kind of fallen by the wayside for him. He’s also been learning as much as he can about his other half’s empire as well.
“Three stars-damned weeks we haven’t heard a peep from you, and you randomly show up entangled with some dark, powerful fucker’s grip? Yeah, we kind of assumed the worst. Do you remember the thing with Fresh? That was a fucking mess.” Red growled, still protective and not at all trusting of this surprise mate of Dream’s. In part because he had initiated a Fight with the fucker and the other had the highest LV of any being he’d ever encountered in the multiverse. The Fight had ended before it could really begin, but Nightmare had this terrifying aura that Red deeply mistrusted.
“Hmmm? Oh… Fresh is a little strange and oddly grabby, but I wasn’t in danger with him.” The parasite that controlled the Sams was unable to possess him, and if he absolutely had to, Dream knew that he could simply overwhelm the emotionless parasite with Positivity, which would disable the other for more than long enough for him to get away if needed.
“Fresh… That neon-colored parasite? I have no doubt that you’d be able to handle it if you had to fight it, darling.” Nightmare hummed, still hugging his beloved and keeping Dream close, rather amused by their reactions. Just because he could, he pressed a kiss to one of Dream’s cheeks, very curious as to what their reactions would be.
Dream sighed a little, sensing the mischief in his other half’s aura and sighed a little. He did kiss the other back though, content to be held. He brightened at the other’s words, glad that Nightmare felt the same “Thanks! Not that Fresh was looking for a fight. I was just New to him, and he likes to poke and prod at new beings, especially since… The both of us are a little bit on the unusual side.” Considering the fact that he and Nightmare were no more Sanses than Fresh was, the parasite had been extremely curious about Dream and his origins - not that he’d given the other much…. And he would have very much liked to have seen how his other half had interacted with the… Strange being.
Before anyone could say or do anything else, a rainbow-colored portal appeared and Ink stepped through it, Nebula being dragged along behind him. The colorful guardian stopped in his tracks before smiling brightly, dragging Nebula through the portal before letting him go, running over to Dream without the slightest bit of fear or reservation, his eye lights changing color and shape too quickly for the positive guardian to begin to identify. Ink scooped him up out of Dream’s arms and teleported a short distance away, laughing happily and swinging him around “Dreaaam! There you are good buddy! I just missed you in prime Outerfell! You’re looking a lot better than the last time I saw you.” The emotionless guardian hugged him tightly, gently patting the top of his head and leaning into him.
“I-Ah! I-Iiink! Put me doooown.” Dream protested, flailing a little and huffing as he scowls up at the taller guardian.
“Hmm… Nah. I haven’t seen you in weeks, Dreamy! I’ve missed you a lot. Also I kind of need to talk to your tall and grumpy friend over there about not-interfering in other timelines more than absolutely necessary. From what Neb and a couple of other Sanses from darker timelines have told me he’s been interfering rather a lot… And should stop.” Ink denied lightly, still smiling, though one of his eye lights was a purple x, the other was a red target.
Nightmare glared a little bit at Ink, one of his tentacles moving at high speed and wrapping itself around Dream’s waist the moment that his other half was set down, pulling him back to his side -while also shoving Ink back a couple of steps, holding the positive spirit tightly “And why shouldn’t I interfere with darker timelines? I bring resources that are desperately needed to timelines whose inhabitants are suffering and miserable. You’re saying I should just let them wallow and scrape and suffer on their own, rather than lending a hand because I have the power and ability to do so?”
“It’s not your or my place to interfere in how a universe is! Simply protecting the worlds from those who would destroy or irreparably change things within said timeline or AU.” Ink bristled, both of his eye lights red now - one a larger target, the other a circle. The normally amicable creative guardian was scowling, and had a hand on his brush.
NIghtmare raised a browbone, his voice light and quiet “Oh, really? A new compatriot of mine by the name of Cross would beg to differ. You interfered rather heavily with his own world… I intended on introducing him to you rather soon, Dream. I simply wanted to ensure that the poor boy settled in a bit better. He’s been isolated for a very long time and your presence would have overwhelmed him. I’ve heard rather a lot about you, INk, though he didn’t call you by name. He seemed to think that it would summon you.”
Ink glared at Nightmare, the grip on his brush tightening a little further “I don’t interfere in timelines any longer, due to the… Due to what happened to Cross’s timeline. Put down Dream and leave the worlds you have been badgering alone. The people need to learn how to survive on their own, with their stories allowed to go as intended.”
“Hmmm. No. Dream, darling, I believe it’s time for us to go. Your friends have been… Unfortunately rather hostile and I would… rather not have to continue to deal with them… Unless you’d… Rather stay with them…?” Nightmare responded, glaring darkly at Ink for a moment before focusing entirely on Dream, sadness tinging his aura at the thought of the other staying.
“No I… Of course I’ll go with you… I’m sorry they were all so hostile I… They’re usually not like this, I’m sorry. Then again they… Oh no… Yes, I really do think we should be going home now.” Dream responded, worry filling him as he wondered if they were addicted to his aura… It would explain a lot, actually.
Nightmare nodded and teleported them to an empty location in Underswap Prime before creating a portal and carrying them through, murmuring quietly “You don’t have to apologize, love. You had no idea that they would react with such hostility… Hopefully they will calm down soon.”
“I… I hope so.” Dream murmured, snuggling into Nightmare a little more “... Cuddle with me for a while?”
“Of course, love.” the negative spirit teleported them off to their bedroom, pressing light kisses to the other’s teeth and face.

Jaune’s Magic Hands
So it’s after 3am, I’m not asleep, and I wanna talk about a scene in RWBY along with other ways it could have gone.
Now this bit here in Volume 5 was clearly meant as one of the BIG moments for the end of the Volume. Some would say it left fans divided, to say the least. Though everything involving Jaune divides people. He’s that character you either hate as an embodiment of all of Miles Luna’s sins or love so much you write him as romancing everyone after transforming into the Uber Harem Protag. Personally, I’ve hovered probably near both those places but overall feel Jaune has more of a weakness in execution than in concept. How hyperbolically I express this opinion can also vary.
Still, let me say right now I’m ok with his power being healing. Seriously I am. He for one seems to be meant to fill a paladin archetype when at his better moments. As well he is based on Joan of Arc who claimed to have visions and be driven by figures from the Christian religion. Jesus himself was said to have the power to heal and you can find probably hundreds of evangelical preachers who claim to have the same power. So in concept, it is fine. Instead, it might help to examine why the execution might be the issue.
First, let’s look at who he is healing. Now a lot of people don’t like that he is healing Weiss. A good number for one think it was ship pandering by giving him a moment where he *saves* her and looks all dashing.
Mind plenty of people have hated WeissXJaune since Volume 2 where many felt he was a bit too *persistent* with his attempts to get a date from her. Now that kind of interaction between two protagonists isn’t a new trope but maybe it wasn’t as well handled in Volume 2 or maybe a shift in cultural perception makes Jaune’s actions look less ok to the modern audience.
Now do I think it was done in the way it was to be ship bait?
I dunno maybe. On the one hand, not every character interaction in a show is meant to imply shipping by the author and that should be acknowledged. On the other hand, those working on RWBY have shown to be not only very aware of the shipping within the fandom but also more willing to actively fan those flames. I mean how many songs on the soundtracks alone are being attributed to some BlakeX??? ship or another? So turning on safe mode let’s say in a prospective alternate take Weiss isn’t the one that is injured.
Moving on to what is probably the other point of contention, that being who is causing the injury. In this case Cinder Fall. Now I doubt anyone is saying Cinder isn’t strong enough to wound Weiss especially while the latter is currently probably expanding a lot of aura with constant summon attempts. It is more an issue because of how Cinder’s character has somewhat flip-flopped between Volume 4 and 5.
In Volume 4 we are given glimpses of a much different kind of character for Cinder. From the somewhat generic blob of sexy female villain seen before into a person broken physically and most likely mentally.
I mean she had her personal telepath apparently find out what current outfit the person who did so much damage to her was in to keep her sessions of having the image of that person projected into her mind and then burned alive up to date. Well, that or the creators didn't want to take the time to bother with a model based on Volume 1-3 Ruby for that scene but I’m trying to give more benefit of the doubt this post and attribute it to a character thing. Still, the point is that it’s pretty massive hate on she has for Ruby.
Come Volume 5 people felt she had devolved back into her old ways. Now for one of the scenes, we could give the benefit of the doubt. She was meeting with Raven maybe it was just an act she was putting on of pretending to be like her old self for the sake of the task she was given. Yet when we get to the Haven fight instead of focusing on the person she apparently hates she instead focuses on fucking with Jaune while her sidekicks fight Ruby. Which for fans that both like and despise Cinder stings more because Raven probably killed her off at the end there. Meaning any set up for an interesting revenge arc may have died with her.
So let us also include that the injured party can’t become that way via a Cinder who wants to mess with Jaune.
That leaves us with the core of “Jaune discovers his healing semblance when another character is in grave danger”. Finally, I’ll show some possibilities for that I thought up on my own and maybe you’d like to share your own.
1. We roll back the rock to Volume 4 and have Jaune discover his semblance to heal Qrow during the Nuckleave fight. Hey in this idea both JNPR boys get a semblance reveal this volume. Also honestly I don’t think many people like Jaune’s weapon “upgrade” so we can replace the reveal of that with his healing power. Also, I admit to being one of those that felt like with the set up the Nuckleave received being defeated by just RNJR felt a little dumb. Yet this could remedy that a bit. I mean from how I was reading it Qrow is presented not just as an experienced hunter but as supposed to be in the higher power level tier for hunters. So the idea that he could turn the tide against a powerful Grimm like the Nuckleave was presented as is more believable with what we’ve been presented of the universe.
2. Ruby is injured by Cinder. Now Ruby and Jaune were the respective first friend they made at Beacon so Jaune unlocking his semblance to save her can still hold some weight. Also keeps that it is a character with a high power level in this verse like Cinder being the one able to cause such a mortal wound in that fight. This can maintain the no Cinder trying to fuck with Jaune clause too. Instead when the bad guys come in Cinder pretty much sees red and goes right after Ruby. Just knocking her around and maybe through in some lines taunting her to bring out the Silver Eye power. Which Ruby seems unable too and as such she doesn’t have the power to destroy Cinder like last time. After that Cinder could then go off again to have the Raven fight because she thinks Ruby is dead and we get the healing scene again.
3. Nora or Ren is injured fighting Hazel. Hey, we can use this as an opportunity to show Hazel as a major threat by having him almost take out one of the main cast for one. For another Nora and Ren are Jaune’s team so this makes it a moment between the three surviving members of JNPR. Still does leave a bit of figuring out how a separate Ruby VS Cinder fight goes but this is just the skeleton of an idea.
Anyways those are three that I had in mind right now. Not 100% and in some places require rewriting more of Volume 5 sure but it was still a nice bit of brain exercise and hey maybe the discussion about the elements of the scene people had problems with or these ideas go your brain working too.
#RWBY#RWDE#I mean rwde to be safe. Like since there is some snark about the show and it is talking about criticisms for a scene plus alternatives it pr#obably counts#Jaune's magic hands#The Jaune with a guitar edit I found as uploaded by cartridge88 on Know Your Meme#Since it wasn't just a screen cap of the show itself wanted to give some credit#and that is where I was sent when I visited the page it was said to be from while on image search#If you know a more accurate source of the edit and feel they should receive proper credit let me know and I can change the tags up

Supreme Administrator (Final Effect)
Luxa Dia-Farron was the current Supreme Professor of the Dia-Farron, which basically meant that she was at the top of the minion pyramid. Well, not quite. Technically speaking, she was still the empress’s minion, but the empress, like many of her predecessors, knew better than to delve to deeply into the affairs of the Dia-Farron.
Even so, there was still one person that she feared, even when she was on Lumina Prime.
“You!”
Luxa turned as glowing chains made of Aura began to form along the corridor beside her. Her hamster, the little traitor, quickly hopped off her hat and decided to stand as far from her as possible while looking as cute and cuddly as possible. It was the classic ‘I’m just a cute and cuddly hamster who has nothing to do with the maniacal deeds of my master’ technique that he had long since mastered.
“Uh… hi.” Luxa waved back at her cousin, the current Supreme Administrator of the Dia-Farron. “What’s with the scary chains and the…” She gulped. “Aura swords and spears floating around me?”
Illumina Dia-Farron was the very image of righteous fury. Her green eyes had narrowed ominously, and her normally tidy pink hair was a mess. There might even have been smoke rising from some of her clothes. Her glare, of course, was terrifying. “What a coincidence that I was waylaid by security drones on my way to investigate your lab, Luxa. How every odd… especially since you knew I was coming, and I have full authorisation.”
Luxa frantically thought of an excuse. As the Supreme Administrator of the Dia-Farron, Illumina was basically in charge of keeping the craziness to a manageable level. It was a role that had endured since ancient times when Lumina had first turned to Vanille, looked her square in the eye, and told her that a toaster with plasma cutters to slice bread was an idea whose stupidity was only surpassed by making it a cranky AI.
“That was totally not my fault.” She gasped. “And what’s that behind you!”
She managed to get one step before she was suddenly dangling upside down, her entire body wrapped in Aura construct chains strong enough to withstand attack from a mono-molecular chainsaw. A scowl crossed her lips. Second Opinion - her Semblance - allowed her quick peeks into the alternate futures spawned whenever she contemplated a particular course of action. Alas, it was currently telling her that she was totally and utterly screwed.
“Seriously? That was never going to work.” Illumina gestured and chains quickly tied up Luxa’s hamster too. “Don’t think you’re getting out of this either. The cute and innocent routine might work on normal people, but I’ve got a hamster of my own.” Illumina’s hamster waved cheerfully from the pocket of her blouse. “You’ve been helping her.”
“Neither I nor my hamster have no idea what you’re talking about,” Luxa said. She had a warp cutter in her pocket, which might be able to get her out of this, as well as a personal short-range teleportation unit, but Illumina wisely tightened her hold, using separate chains to keep Luxa from moving her hands.
“I want to know exactly where you got an ingot of Level Four Saviour material and what you’re planning to do with it,” Illumina hissed. “Do you have any idea how dangerous that is? And let’s talk about the canister of Level Four Ragnarok destructive energy that you’ve got in the fridge of your lab next to your Gary cola!”
Luxa grimaced. She had put that in there precisely because she didn’t think anyone would ever look in there. Plus, her fridge had the same level of security as the most secure banks in the galaxy. After all, there were plenty of other Dia-Farron about, many of whom were only too eager to steal her Gary cola. “I have no -”
“Say you had no idea what I’m talking about, and I’ll cut you off from your lab for a month.” Illumina’s eyes narrowed ominously, and the swords and spears quivered in response. “You know I have that authority.”
Luxa sagged. “Fine. You do realise that we have several bearers of both Ragnarok and Saviour around. I managed to convince two of them to donate those to me. As for what I’m doing… have you considered the possibility of a self-propogating anti-reality bomb?”
“…” Illumina’s eye twitched. “You’re talking about melding the ability of Saviour to attack across seemingly infinite dimensions to the highly corrosive and self-expanding nature of Ragnarok’s destructive energy. If that actually worked without killing us all, you’d have a bomb that could theoretically blow up entire timelines and dimensions if given adequate time and power.”
“Exactly. You never know when you might need one of those.”
“Stop.” Illumina released the chains, and Luxa had to do a bit of acrobatics to avoid falling on her head. “You are not building that without further consultation. We are calling a full council, so we don’t have any accidents… you know, accidents that might blow up the universe.”
“If it helps, I would be conducting the research in a mini-dimension using modified subspace technology.”
“Not good enough,” Illumina said. “Now, get up. We’re going to call that council now… before you do anything crazier.”

I just cannot believe
for years now I’ve been saying Arkos was classic heroic romance tropes with Pyrrha in the classical male role and Jaune in the classical female role
and this is actually true in-universe, because Pyrrha parallels Oz and Jaune parallels Salem.
Arkos is paralleling Ozpin and Salem but better and not screwing up the way they did, with Pyrrha as Ozpin and Jaune as Salem
(the multiple scenes where ozma disintegrating in the exact same fashion that pyrrha nikos had disintegrated in at the end of v3
There’s also the part where Jaune was unable to save Pyrrha and had to struggle with a death wish (seriously jaune was borderline suicidal and some may say that was until his fight with cinder but I think its still there )

Ozma’s Pyrrha parallels are making Jaune’s current suicidal tendencies even more painful tbh
WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT OZ AND SALEM WERE ACTUALLY GENDER-FLIPPED ARKOS “
I mean seriously Ozma is destroyed by the God of Light and darkness in the same manner that Cinder destroyed Pyrrhas body
and I forgot to add about how salem was suicidal

I have long theorized that oscar will join team jnpr as jaunes partner
“Given that Oscar’s last name is Pine (and that last names are used to make team names, like Sky Lark of CRDL and May Zedong of BRNZ and lie ren ( ren was his last name his fathers name was li ren (in that spelling) ) ( plus it fits for him to join team jnpr (juniper) since Both Pines and Junipers are evergreen trees ) and that he’s got Ozpin’s cane, I think he will be Pyrrha’s replacement especially since ozpins aura is merging/merged with oscar ( he’s a reincarnation who goes from person to person by merging with their Aura ) which led him to go on his journey and pyrrhas arc/crisis in v3 had been about possibly going through the procedure to forcibly merge ambers aura with pyrrhas and losing her identity and oscar is going through that process ( though the process is natural very different from the mechanical transfer done to Amber and Pyrrha, ozpin had reason to believe it would be similar to his own experience ) with ozpin and we get to see what would have possibly happened to pyrrha “ and pyrrhas arc/crisis in v3 and what she was deciding to do reminds me of oscars issues with merging with ozpin
and this was confirmed to me by how in v7 intro oscar was with jaune , nora ,and ren in a similar light to what rwby and ace ops had been in .
first the panels with nora and ren were shown and then jaune and oscar signifying that they will become partners. and I believe it will be fitting for jaune to confess to oscar and/or ozpin the forged transcripts secret which he has only told to pyrrha in a parallel to the scene especially given oscars concern with lying/keeping secrets and the oz situation and people dont know whether or not ozpin knew about the forged transcripts and this may lead ozpin to assisting jaune with his training when he comes back or oscar training with jaune more often
