Well, happy EARLY birthday! I’m turning 16 on the 13th of November, and to celebrate that, I’m doing a DTIYS!!!!!! Yuubeni is just perpetually 17 lol. This is my first time doing something like this so… 🥲

🦋: I’m glad I bought this dress a while ago. I saw it while I was off campus one time and HAD to buy it. It was pretty expensive though, and I did have to buy some cheaper dinners to be able to feed Grim, though. Heh, consequences…

Now for info!

So, you all know the gist of a DTIYS. As long as you keep the outfit Yuubeni’s in, and the setting (the NRC botanical gardens), you can go crazy with poses, camera angles, throw in canon or oc characters if you like! You can send birthday wishes or oc interactions, fics if you want, whatever media, but only your main DTIYS art piece will count.

There will be three winners, first place will get a fully colored piece, second place a shaded single color sketch, and third just a silly unshaded doodle. My art is available everywhere on my page if you want to take a look. All three winners are two characters max. I’ll do oc + canon, canon + canon, and oc + oc (ships included) as long as it’s all twst related.

Entries will be open from November 1st to November 16th, so you’ve got a while! After that, I’ll be working on the pieces, but my schedule isn’t rigid.

Hello! I'm diving into your posts and everything is so lovely!

So I'd like to know if you're interested in writing about a reader who isn't sure why they were recruited, since they don't participate in the battles and are an ordinary person; The reader is always trying to prove their worth to their romantic interest in some way and sees this opportunity when, alone on the boat, other pirates invade the vessel and deciding that this was the moment, the reader tries to fight all of them and gets very hurt.

It may sound a bit confusing but the main idea would be something like "I want it, I get it", giving the idea that the reader was simply recruited by the cliché of love at first sight.

It's okay if you turn down the idea, find it boring, or just don't respond at all! I just thought it would be a cool and very emotional idea, cute confession and with a unique touch of each character, you know?

hello R~! i chose to only write for zoro bc i've been writing sanji a lot and i haven't really done a lot of zoro fics, so yeah! apologies if you wanted luffy or sanji!

forethoughts: kinda rushed, it's 1am and i have to wake up at 7 tomorrow 😭. this req will be a mixture of headcanons (bullet points) and text. also just as a question has any of y'all listened to ado before?

notes: gn!reader, zoro that doesn't know how to show emotions but being blunt about it.

You really had no idea what your life would become when a scrawny boy walked up to you and asked you to join his pirate crew. No reason at all, just ‘hey join my crew’.

You were an ordinary person. That’s all. Can’t fight, can’t do anything, really. But you did so anyways, since maybe life on a ship would be much better.

You tried to get along with the crew and show your worth, but there wasn’t anything you could really do. There were already three very formidable fighters, a navigator, an archaeologist, a craftsman and snipe, a shipwright, all the jobs were already taken. So what could you do?

Thank God Luffy always called you to play tag with him and Usopp and Chopper, either having you chase them around, or find them in a game of hide and seek.

But one day, while the Straw Hats were exploring an island, you were tasked to guard the ship. You tried your best, hoping no pirates would come to attack you, but you had the worst luck in the world.

A band of pirates came towards the Sunny, and got on board. You had no experience in fighting at all, except for a couple of times Zoro would drag you into the gym to practice your punches and increase your strength. You never asked why, he just forced you to put on boxing gloves and begin hitting a punching bag. 

You knew that if you managed to hold them off, you could prove your worth to the Straw Hats, so you balled your fists and striked at a pirate.

You get knocked out and beaten into a blood pulp within an instance, 

Fortunately the Straw Hats came back early, and quickly subdued all the pirates and recovered anything stolen, as Chopper rushed to take you back to the infirmary.

When you gained consciousness, you saw a green haired man standing next to your bed, his arms folded.

There wasn’t anyone else in the room. Just you and the swordsman.

“Zoro?” You murmur.

“How do you feel?” He asked.

“My body hurts…” You try to sit up, before getting stopped by a blade.

“Move and I’ll slice your throat.” Zoro looked at you, his eyes narrowing. You lied back down on the bed, looking at the swordsman as he sheathed his sword.

“Where’s everyone else?”

“Fixing the ship and recovering everything.”

You felt guilt filling your heart, as you frowned. “I’m sorry… I really tried… I just can’t fight… I’m not good at fighting… I’m sorry…”

“You idiot, don’t be sorry. And don’t even think about moving.” The swordsman snapped. But underneath his words, you can tell his voice was shaking. You stay still, lying down on the bed.

“Why did Luffy recruit me? I’m just some ordinary person. I can’t even fight. I can’t even do anything…”

“That’s bullshit.”

“I’m sorry?”

“That’s bullshit. You’re not ordinary. You can do things.”

“But I can’t fight…”

“You don’t need to know how to fight to be on this crew.” Zoro looked at you intensely. “You’re already doing enough on this ship.”

“What could you possibly mean by that?”

“You’re doing enough on this ship by being on this ship.”

“You’re confusing me.”

“I like you, hear me? I love you a lot.” Zoro gripped onto your chin tightly, looking at you in the eyes. “I saw you on that island while back. It was like love at first sight. And when I want something, I’ll get it. So I got Luffy to let you join.”

“Wait, what?!  You like me?”

“Yes, I do.” Zoro looks at you. “So don’t ever dare call yourself useless. You have a use.”

“Being your girlfriend?”

“Mhm. Whatever I want, I always get it.”

Life was certainly going to get interesting for you now.

Evan is living a double life as Spider-Man and quite literally hates it. He meets the only person who hates him more than he hates himself.

There's no person on Earth who hates Spider-Man more than Barty. The issue is Barty falls for Evan.

Satosugu (Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru) - I just really loved (and cried about) their backstory and their relationship. I know a lot of people insist that they’re just friends (and honestly I’m okay with that too) but I ship them anyways lol. [Jujutsu Kaisen]

Byler (Will Byers and Mike Wheeler) - am currently dodging bullets cause it’s shipping war season but I love these two and I’ve shipped them since season two. I respect mileven but I always thought they would be better as platonic best friends. [Stranger Things]

3. Percabeth (Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase) - favorite friends to lovers arc and they’re just amazing together (when they’re characterized correctly!!) literally a power couple. [PJO]

my personality is very sarcastic and I have a dark sense of humor but I’m very kind and a good listener. I sort of have jealousy issues though and I can be quite sensitive and cry easily. I ship you with Marlene McKinnon and Remus Lupin. I know it's a weird combination, but hear me out. Marlene was absolutely obsessed with your aesthetics. She loved the way you dressed and was attracted to your vibe from the start. She saw you and she wanted, no, she needed to be your friend. She didn't even know she was queer until you started dating Remus, and the news that should've made her happy upset her.

"Guess what, Mars! Remus asked me on a date!" you told her with a smile.

Then you went for candies at Honeydukes, and in the end, you ended up eating something light at the Three Broomsticks. When you got cold, he gave you his sweater and wrapped his arm around you, bringing you closer to him. Remus was a true gentleman, and he was incredibly sweet too. So sweet that you had been the one to lean over and give him a goodbye kiss before the two of you parted ways for the night. Sirius, who had been staring, teased Remus relentlessly for the rest of the week.

As your relationship with Remus progressed, you felt Marlene start to pull away from you. She always had some excuse to not hang around, and at some point, you'd had enough. You waited for her as she walked out of her class and pulled her into a broom closet, closing the door when she tried to leave.

You weren't sure how long you stayed in that cabinet trying to process what had happened, but one thing was for certain: you had to talk to Remus. The moment you spotted him through the halls, you ran for a hug. He was surprised but hugged back in an instant. "What's wrong, sweetheart?" he asked, his voice soft and soothing as he rubbed his fingers on your back.

"You know Marlene has been avoiding me," you said. He hummed in response. "She said it's because she has a crush on me."

Remus smiled and gave you a soft kiss on the forehead. "We should probably talk to her then."

You two set out to find Marlene, and when you did, you talked to her. After a long conversation between the three of you, you decided you'd see how the relationship could work. It wasn't easy at first; you had to establish boundaries and other limits to the relationship. But eventually, you figured it out, and the three of you were more than pleased to have each other. You had Remus; whenever you wanted to chill, you'd hang out with him, listening to soft tunes while reading a book. Sometimes he'd even read aloud to you as you did your artsy stuff, be it crafts, paintings, drawings, or even sculpting; he was always ready to pass the time with you since he really enjoyed just being able to do that. Wait y do u love Tyler?

I definitely rambled way more than intended. So answers under the cut. But just as an fyi this is still very much a wenclair blog if that’s what you’re worried about lol.

He’s just a very interesting character and though I really enjoyed Wednesday (obviously) a lot of the side characters were very underdeveloped while Tyler wasn’t which as a character driven reader/watcher is really important to me.

I’m not into the Wednesday x Tyler ship so I don’t really make much content about him as that seems to be the majority of his part of the fandom. I didn’t hate it in the beginning but post S1 I just don’t really see Wednesday ever being in a place where she lets herself be vulnerable around him again at least not in a romantic context. And also after his involvement in what happened to both Thing and Enid I personally believe it would go against all of Wednesday’s character development from S1. Realistically speaking I just think they would be really toxic together but some people are into that (fictionally speaking) and others might see it differently so no hate to anyone’s ships, you’re into what you’re into, all ships are totally valid and hating on what other people love because of unnecessary shipping wars is honestly the worst part about being in fandom.

Having said that I still really liked Tyler as a character and definitely want to see more of him. Either continuing on as a villain or having him go through a redemption ark. He made an interesting antagonist for Wednesday, which for an character who thrives in scary environments isn’t super easy to do. Especially since Netflix’s Wednesday isn’t as satirical as previous Addams family adaptations. But the way he, as the villain, managed to manipulate Wednesday’s main weakness - that being her loneliness due to the fact that she doesn’t fit in - by making her feel wanted was something I really enjoyed (not for Wednesday obvi but from the pov of a story ark and yes I know she would deny ever being lonely to her dying breath but learning that although she might not need people, letting those who accept her for who she is close to her and learning that she may actually want that is literally the theme of S1).

I’ve done a couple of re-watches now and the main three characters in my opinion are Wednesday, Tyler and Enid. Both Tyler and Enid having a significant influence on Wednesday’s character development throughout the season. And I think building the future seasons around these three is the best choice going forward. Not just because they’ve already got a good foundation of character development behind them but because they all contain both light and darkness presented in three very different ways. I got three hours of sleep last night so I can’t explain that in a coherent way rn but if someone wants to ask me later I’ll try and reply when I have a brain. But basically they’re three very complicated people who don’t fit even when they try. And although they don’t always get along they seem to recognise themselves within each other, whether they know it or not. Enid constantly being suspicious of Tyler is a good example of this. It’s her sensing him suppressing/hiding his dark-side because she does the same thing. Wednesday as someone who is comfortable in her darkness subconsciously saw the darkness within them both, intriguing her enough to allow them close to her while aesthetically speaking most would claim they weren’t her type. And once they were close enough they began to influence each other in both positive and negative ways. Wednesday became more considerate of people feelings, let them close to her and began to acknowledge that maybe having friends wasn’t a bad thing and the possibility of spending her life alone perhaps wasn’t the life she wanted for herself. Wednesday embracing Enid at the end is a testament to her growth in S1 because despite what happened with Tyler she chooses not to push Enid away. And while Wednesday was learning she didn’t have to live in complete darkness and solitude, Enid learnt that she didn’t have to pretend she was the personification of rainbows and daisies to make people like her. She started to embrace her differences, broke some rules, stood up to her mom and to Wednesday and learnt that she didn’t need to filter herself to fit in because she was who she was and the people who should be in her life would stay even when she wasn’t pretty and perfect all the time. This is what inevitably lead to her connecting with the darkness of her wolf side and allowed her to transform when Wednesday needed her. Tyler obviously went way off the deep end and went full psycho and if you read between the lines a bit I think Wednesday honestly made him worse (see previous they’d be toxic declaration) but you have to consider Laurel/Ms Thornhill’s influence as well. And I think that’s why he intrigues me as a character because he fucked up. And now he either has to fight to atone for that and drag himself back into the light (with the help of Wednesday and Enid) or he could embrace that darkness in full. Becoming what Wednesday (despite what she may claim) doesn’t want to be and proving to her that a life of darkness and solitude isn’t what she should strive for. Yes she’s weird and spooky and will always love death and destruction that shouldn’t change and doesn’t need to change. But I see a lot of people claim she lacks a moral compass and is a straight up psychopath. And though she definitely has different morals than would be considered normal, as they lean into her kill or be killed macabre nature that comes with being an Addams, she definitely doesn’t lack empathy and will, in my opinion, never be the bad guy (like yeah I 100% believe she would kill someone but she’d have a good reason and I’m sure the piece of shit would deserve it).

So either he becomes the overarching villain across the however many seasons of Wednesday there will be - mirroring what Wednesday fears she could be but doesn’t want to be - or he goes through a time of reflection/confliction where he doesn’t really know where he stands, both as a person and a Hyde, nor what he wants to be. Possibly becoming a Nevermore student, or just existing within Jericho surrounded by people who hate/don’t trust him because of who he is and what he did. But slowly nurturing significant relationships with the main cast regardless due to whatever circumstances throw them together again. Again I don’t want Wyler to happen but watching how Wednesday reacts to someone who betrayed her as he tries to be a better person and earn her trust would be super interesting to watch. Especially if the writers got him to a point where he would put himself in danger to protect Wednesday and/or Enid because yeah S1 happened but somehow he’s grown to love these bitches. Like THATS a character ark I would kill to see. And now that he’s away from Laurel/Ms Thornhill there’s definitely room for that to happen. Like yeah okay he murdered people but he was suppressed, neglected, manipulated and abused and this is a fictional tv show. No he’s not completely innocent but as a Hyde with a master he wasn’t in full control of himself and that leaves enough room for him to redeem himself in my opinion.

Adorable. I just think he’s neat okay. This is still a predominantly Wenclair blog so you don’t have to stress if you really don’t like his character but I personally do. And him developing cute platonic relationships with Wednesday and Enid in the coming seasons is definitely something I want to see happen (personally I love to headcanon that Enid and a redeemed Tyler will always low key have beef with eachother but in a sibling-y “I can fight them but no one else better even think about it” way). Even though a lot of other Wenclair shippers are very anti-Tyler.

Black Butler fandom – I want more aroace William, or at least ace William, representation. I don’t want him shipped with Grelle, I want them being BFFs. *Pointing with judgement* Let them crack open a bottle of wine and/or whiskey by the fire after work and talk about nice, idle things, like their sonboy Ronald (who’s pawing at the babygate like the sad goldendoodle he is because he wasn’t allowed in due to his alcoholism).

Black Butler canon/fandom – I want Snake to speak for himself. Like, either in fanfiction or — more preferably — canon, where he at last breaks and, against the opinions of his snakes, goes “Fuck you, Ciel!” and then full stop. No “says Emily” or “exclaims Oscar”. Nothing. It’s meaningful. Poignant. You can tell that Snake is really hurt about having his found family lie to him so easily, to be betrayed by his second family after losing his first. This is Snake, even if it’s just for a moment, talking for himself. Poor Snake :(

Black Butler fandom – I want more creepypastas / grimdarks / etc.. Plain and simple, it’s meant to be a dark, perhaps horrific at times, franchise and so where are the creepy one shots? P – Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas):

Oh, this is tricky! I don’t think I think of many AUs? At the very least they’re fleeting and / for one shot purposes as opposed to a full-fledged universe? (Alternatively there’s also an idea I had of making a book of rarepair scraplets vaguely set in the same universe for the reader to piece together, like a one shot where Soma, Lizzie and Sieglinde are paired together “trying to get back to ‘x’” and Soma has to carry Sieglinde because her spider legs are broken and Wolfram is nowhere to be found.)

So seeing as you told me about your Snake/Edward / Sieglinde/Lizzie Friendship is Tragic-esque AU I’ll go ahead and state my Fallout Equestria-type one (why did I need brony comparisons for that?) that was kind of eluded to in this post (which is also kind of inspired by this post and its reblogs).

So in the post it was inspired by, I discussed if “shinigami and grim reapers” were different, and that “shinigami” were like “the original grim reapers” (don’t think of them like those things from Death Dote, but rather like The Exterminators from Hazbin) and that the redemption that the reapers work towards is actually fake, just a rumour used to keep them in line and then used as the excuse when reapers go “missing” (aka. the “Higher Up”, so to call them, of the original shinigami and/or older reapers that are in-the-know) to make way for newer reapers when Ole McLimboville becomes overcrowded (which it will as time progresses from the canon’s 1889 into modern day, as per real life suicide stats).

With my theory preluded, the AU would start off with Will’s “promotion/redemption” (#2 from (x)) (as it is known outwardly by the other reapers), but as the numbers begin to spike, a purge starts by the Higher Up / shinigami and Grelle and Ronald make it out after Grelle’s seen Othello die protecting her (a point which will later be paralleled when Grelle then does so for Ron), and go looking for the Undertaker, in case he knows what’s going on (after all, he and Othello are the same age-ish and Othello told them to find him).

I’d also thought about a possible, background Grelltaker flirtation, but that point can be ignored for now. I think if this is the case then Undertaker dies in front of Grelle rather than Othello, who, in this case, she just knows died? Also an point where Ron and Grelle begrudgingly take r!Ciel along with them (if he’s still alive / existing … he can be written out easily, though, I just remember him being a part of my original rough idea), and then it’s later just Ron looking after him after he and Grelle are separated (I’m still unsure whether a fakeout death is in order, or too cheesy to be worked into the plot well enough).

Essentially, it’s just Ronald then — as per his and Grelle’s plan after talking with the Undertaker — looking for a means to summon a demon (whether this will be Sebastian or not is undecided, though is the most likely because… why would I make an OC for something that isn’t TSoGtR? Really, now.) as to try and get an equal footing in the fight against the original shinigami (and the reapers in allegiance with them as part of the Higher Up’s council… as guides to the to-be ‘redeemed’, or even some of the redeemed themselves).

Perhaps there’s also a twisted element from the Higher Up like “You’re finally getting what you came here for/what you wanted, and yet you still fight it?”, when — on the reapers’ side of things — it’s actually because they want to avenge their friends for dying in massacre, so dishonourably (in some cases), and that they know that if they lose / give up, this will only go on and on, until it eventually happens again.

It’s an AU I definitely haven’t thought of in a while 😅 so trying to remember the better half of it was a bit of a struggle, but I enjoyed doing it! It’s a fun idea that I hope to revisit (though most probably will not, as I suck at action scenes / sequences / drama, so it would most likely turn out slow, and corny when it picks up pace, with plenty of emotional moments and monologues but not enough action/fighting).

Sorry if you want to wait on getting this information until after the poll is over but, if not, I wanted to share some thoughts about how I feel about my take on Yoonmin. As you mentioned, none of us know for sure about the nature of their relationship outside of what they show us and bits we've been told by others, so I never feel confident saying/believing in romantic relationships.

There were two options on your poll that I think I fall into though, the I like it as a 'ship' option, whether I believe it's real or not doesn't really change the fact that I enjoy anything that looks 'shippy' when it shows up, I get a lot of joy from ship content and do enjoy the thought of them as a couple.

But I ended up having to choose Close Friends, because no matter how reluctant I am about saying I know for sure about the nature of someone's relationship, there is something about these two that from the moment I first was getting into BTS and saw their interactions, both as the main subject of the camera as well as what was going on between them in the background I remember thinking 'oh, those two are best friends'. I soon realized that the majority of the fandom didn't really see them that way, but I'll always maintain, regardless of whether it's romantic or platonic, those two are way closer than just the way all BTS members are close with each other. There is a genuine friendship that exists outside of the group between them that I feel like I can see between them.

So, I had to go with Close friends, but I'm not opposed to the 'close friends leaning to lovers' option that was suggested either.

I should probably wait for the poll results but I’ll go ahead and give my two cents. For a long time, I felt similar to what you’re describing: I thought they hovered very close to the line between platonic and romantic. I think two things pushed me over to the romantic end of the spectrum (of course this is just my opinion)… ⚠️ speculation ahead!

First, I felt that they were both fulfilling the role of “special person” for one another. Like Jimin calling Yoongi right after his surgery, before he’d fully gotten over the anesthesia. If Yoongi had a significant other, wouldn’t Jimin have left that role to them? Let them talk to him first? Figured Yoongi was in good hands? And it’s not just that one example; I see it other places as well. And it goes in both directions. Like Yoongi saying that if Jimin goes on the music shows “of course” he would be there. He “should be there”, even. As if it was a given. Not a friendly, “yeah I’ll try to stop by.”

And the second thing that solidified my views was the web show. Everything about it. I remember talking to a friend about it and we began to wonder, “what more could they have done?” We came up with “Not much!” They talked about their dynamic together, talked about spending time off camera, talked about mutual friends, expressed a great deal of familiarity and fondness…and the body language! They held hands multiple times! What more could they (reasonably) have done to show us their bond? It felt significant.

All of that said, I see the people who voted in the Close Friends category and our new Close Friends Leaning to Lovers category as being very similar to those in the Couple category. There honestly isn’t much difference. We agree on most things; we agree on the important things.

I have so many questions I’d love to discuss, but I’ll try to wait til the poll is finished! I hope you’ll stop by again. I’m curious to know more about how people end up in those three categories in particular, and what it would take to move them to a new category. (Not in the sense of me trying to convince someone to change their mind, but in the context of what they’d need to see between ym in order to change their pov.)

Thank you, I’m glad you like my writing! ❤️ And oh BOY do I love to ramble. So, technically I’m writing two novels, one of which is a historical epic that I’ve been working on since January 2022, although I didn’t officially start writing-writing it until nanowrimo last year (which I won). The other project I literally came up with out of nowhere on Monday and I loosely plotted it, set up the characters, and wrote the first three chapters just running on creative fumes, essentially.

And since you asked (you don’t even know the can of worms you just opened bestie I’ve been WAITING for someone to ask lol):

The historical epic (as of yet STILL untitled because it needs to be perfect) is my baby. It’s a multigenerational story that begins in 1909 and follows two families: the de Genestes and the Vasilievs. Minus the first few chapters before the Vasilievs flee Russia, the bulk of the story takes place in France and America (although the latter is only in gen two on).

Generation one starts in December 1909 with the birth of Natasha Vasilyeva, the illegitimate daughter of Count Fyodor Vasiliev. (I’ve talked a bit more about Natasha in this ask that I had to dig to find). The other ‘main’ Vasilev in gen one is Natasha’s half-brother, Mikhaïl. There are two other Vasilev children, Dmitri and Olga, but they become more important in gen two.

The main de Geneste for gen one is Camille, born in May 1910. (I talked about her more here). Part one of gen one is more focused on the Vasilievs, but part two is more focused on Camille. Camille’s eldest child Sophie (born in April 1932) is the star of gen two, basically, although her son Michel (born in July 1936) has a role to play, too as does Mikhaïl’s Vasiliev’s son Edmund (born in November 1938). I haven’t gotten to gen two yet in my writing, but it is all extensively planned out. I’ve even written some journal entries in Sophie’s POV that will not appear in the story, it’s just bonus content lol. The story will end in 2009 with Camille’s great granddaughter’s high school graduation. As for how long it will be, that’s a great question. So far, I’m barely in 1943 and I’m already at 114k words lol. I’m just enjoying writing it. I’ll work on editing when I finish it, whenever that is.

Kitsingui (the tentatively titled contemporary) takes place in the modern day over the span of three months, from October to December 31st. It follows two young women, Emily and Rachelle. Rachelle’s twin brother committed suicide in July and her story is about her learning to cope with the grief and finding a way to live again, because I love writing grief. It’s a constant in my writing, I’ve noticed. As for Emily, she missed out on the spring semester of her freshman year of college because she was in treatment for anorexia and is now trying to both rebuild her life and not relapse. She’s also in a situation-ship with this girl named Carmen that she met at a party. Of that, I’ve written the first three chapters so far.

Also I have playlists for them lol. My historical epic and kitsingui. Thank you again for giving me an excuse to ramble, I will ALWAYS talk about my writing I just need the slightest bit of a push ❤️

DWC February -  Day 7: Recovery

"Oy, let em know chow's ready," Zexx grunted as he set the heavy cauldron down in the center of the main deck of the Wayfarer.  Rey letting out a groan as she stood up and limped over to the passage leading into the hold to let out a scream into the depth of the ship.

"Soups on!"  Rey yelled once, twice, and three times before limping back toward her father.  She looked a mess after the entanglement with raiders recently, patched burns crisscrossing her face, arms, and neck to match a harpoon she took to the calf.  Zexx could only chuckle as he felt a kinship in the beating she took, he likely should be a bit more worried since his daughter could have well died but he could tell by the hungry look on her face the soup was going to do wonders for her.

"Thanks, dad," Rey said with a grin as she breathed in the spicy scent of the chicken and hominy soup, her limp carrying a bit of a skip as she made for a crate to sit and eat.

Gendry and Eld came up next, the older man helping the much younger man up as the thin metal stilts supported him but had yet to be fully utilized for him and his wounded body.  Gen smiled to his father as he saw the cauldron and continued to take shaky steps with Eldridge across the deck, soon finding another arm sweeping under him to support him from Rey.  "I got him, pops."

Usually the old man would grunt and scowl at being called something far to close to home, but at the moment he just nodded wearily as he let the younger Candell take over with her brother.  Standing up straight with a wince as he rubbed his back to hobble toward Zexx and the cook pot, his face weary and bearing similar burns to Rey from the chase the other day.  Accepting the bowl with a grunt of thanks as he made for a spot on the steps to the deck, a dark shadow pacing him in silence before laying before his partner as Eld began to eat.

From above in the solar masts came the circling form of a black bird, fitting to be so much like her grandfather but look like her father Gwynn's form shifted from bird to human without missing a beat.  She was getting stronger and more capable as the months had passed since they came to this universe.  The amount of energy and power she had had to control to get them out of the Shadowlands to the great beyond should have driven a normal person mad.  Her own mismatched eyes looked into the opposite of her in the face of Zexx as she accepted a bowl of soup with a smile.  "Thank you, father."

Zexx would nod to Gwynn as he watched her move to sit with her siblings and listen to them talk, her face quiet for the most part as she listened to Rey prattle and Gen reply in kind before being fed bites of soup himself.  The hero for hire's heart ached for the young man, but also swelled to see him face such adversity with patience and strength. The days wouldn't always be like this, but for now he'd hope more like today for Gen.

Lumbering forth from the hold would come Madame Eloise Granville, stretching her form with a grunt as who knew how many vertebrate popped to resound in the air.  The giff nodded to Zexx with the humor in her eyes, but raised a hand in polite refusal to the food as she found a place to rest.  Her thick hands unhitched her guitar from her belt before adjusting the strings and board with a nod as the notes grew tighter.

"Gonna give us a song tonight, Madame Granville?" Zexx asked as he stirred the contents with a nod to the steam as it drifted up from the iron pot.

Eloise gave a tilt of her head as she answer.  "Indeed, Captain.  I figured it best to earn my keep while aboard your ship."

"Just nothing too loud, please."  As the prodigal daughter emerged from the hold at last, Xaya looking just as bad as her sister and grandfather as she fiddled with a few bandages about her neck.  "My head is killing me."

"I'll see what I can do, Miss Candell," Eloise replied with that familiar flash to her eyes as she rested the guitar in her lap.

Zexx fished another bowl up and ladled out the soup for Xaya as she arrived.  "Yer late."

"There's seven of us," Xaya answered with an eye roll as she took the bowl.  "It's not a dwarven chow hall."

"Have you seen Rey eat?"  Zexx grinned to his eldest daughter, who for almost a second gave a smile back much like his before it quickly dropped away.

"Thank you, dad," Xaya added quietly as she went to have a seat near the railing giving the finger back to Rey as she passed as the younger Candell had heard the joke at her expense.  Rey still raising it as she yelped up to her feet to come back to the cauldron.

"Got some more?"

"Plenty for ya, kiddo."  Zexx smiled as he scooped out another serving for her as Eloise began to gently pluck away at her guitar under the starlit sky of Teetolar in the great empty of Wildspace and beyond.

Saw you ship Buffy with every minor female character in the show 😂 and, though she isn’t minor by any means (this is just a rare pair) now I gotta ask: Buffy/Anya? 😊

What made you ship it?

They're my two favourite BtVS characters and I want them to kiss, that's it, that's all.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

OK, first of all, they're arguably the two scoobies that get along the least well. You could say, arguably, that they often do not get along at all, or even particularly like each other. Does that matter? No.

To point out a few canon tidbits I really enjoy:

one, Anya helps to resurrect Buffy. Of the four scoobs who participate in the spell, Anya 100% seems like the one who be level-headed about it, who would attempt to talk the others out of it. She knows there are risks. She knows, I am sure, that their decision is being fueled by emotion rather than reason. And she goes along with it anyway, because she misses Buffy too.

two, Anya helps to care for Dawn. Yes, at first it's only because of Xander, but she grows to have a real affection for her. When Anya finds out that Dawn has been stealing from the Magic Box, she's hurt - not because of the money, but because she feels personally betrayed. And helping to care for Dawn = helping for and caring for Buffy, by extension. They're part and parcel. (On that note, I also love that Anya grew to care for Joyce - I love that she loves Buffy's family.)

three, Buffy's a bridesmaid in Anya's wedding party. They're not personally close, except that they are. They'll always participate in each other's most important life events.

four, in Restless, in Buffy's dream, she looks over at Willow's bed in their dorm room, and it's Anya there, and Anya tells her to wake up. I DO NOT KNOW THE MEANING OF THIS, but Anya's wake-up call was a warning (the First Slayer was preparing her attack), and I like the idea that Anya can be that for Buffy - a wake-up call, a tether to reality.

five, Anya is a thousand-year-old demon who mains and punishes men on behalf of wronged women. Buffy has been wronged a few times. Basis for ship? Basis for ship. Also Buffy clearly has a thing for demons who've been around the block at least a couple hundred years.

six, all the other little things. Anya is the one who suggests a spell Buffy can use to help her find what's wrong with her mom. She (and Tara and Xander) want to help Buffy in s6 by spending more time with her. They have movie nights together. Dance-y times at the Bronze. Scooby research sessions. Scooby apocalypse sleepovers. THERE'S CONTENT HERE, I SWEAR.

one last thing. There is one quality about their canon relationship that is so indescribably interesting, and I'm going to try to put it into words here as best I can. Buffy is the Slayer, and with that role comes certain duties. Anya is/was a vengeance demon, and with that role comes (very different) duties. In Selfless, Buffy goes to kill Anya, and Xander/Willow are horrified, but Anya... Anya doesn't take it personally at all. Anya doesn't go, hey, we're friends, you wouldn't do this to your friend!. Anya recognizes that Buffy is the Slayer and she's doing what she must. An understanding exists between them. And THEN. In the next episode, they've both moved completely past the fact that Buffy stuck her sword through Anya. Buffy goes to see how Anya is doing, and saves her life from a would-be assassin sent by D'Hoffryn. She tells Anya that she doesn't want her friends ('friends' very much including Anya) alone right now. There are no lasting grudges between these two. There is no jealousy or resentment or paranoia or any of the other little things that lurk in the background of pretty much every scooby relationship. So, in that regard. well. I just think they're neat.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I dream about a world where enough people ship Buffy/Anya that popular opinions exist.

Anyway, I think that the inconsistencies in the writing of both Anya and vengeance demons is a bummer overall, although tbh this opinion is probably only unpopular with Joss Whedon.

F - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom?

Well this is the hockey sideblog and I’ve been active over here since around 2017. I transitioned from omgcp and yuri on ice to primarily hockey around 2018-2020 and I’ve been here since. There’s fluctuations in interest and my levels of fandom participation but y’know it’s weird being able to say I’ve actively been here for around 5 years.

For passive fandom I’ve been a fan of dc/teen titans since the OG cartoon and when they rebooted teen titans after Donna’s death. So like I’ve been a passive Tim Drake+ fan for some 15-20 years, I’m just not active in dc comics fandom outside of like reading fanfic. Idk if I could call that my longest fandom since I’m not creating any content. If reading a thing counts I’ve also been actively reading Girl Genius for over 10 years.

N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).

*stares deep into the middle distance and contemplates how much I want to whack the hornets nest* Hope you’re prepared for more hockey.

More love/interest for non-superstar players. Everyone has their guy, their blorbo, their favorite, but that’s very frequently the big guys on the team y’know. The emotional support depth forward or third D deserves love too

This feels very silly since I’m talking about professional sports but a thing I see people struggling with when posting about sports online is emotional regulation in regards to losses. Watching your special guys lose sucks. The serotonin broadcast didn’t make the happy win chemical. It can be worse if you spent money to see it live. That’s hard to deal with. I repeat, it’s really hard to deal with if you’re new to it and deep in the hyperfixation. I’ve struggled with it myself. The place I see issues is that some people make that others’ problem either by doomspiraling or baiting. It’s not the job of a stranger on the internet to tell you how to manage your emotions and expectations. Losing happens. Losing streaks happen. How you deal with it is a reflection on you. I understand that sometimes we get folks who are experiencing baby’s first fandom and haven’t figured out how not to make their emotions everyone else’s problem, but it’s an absolutely essential skill in any fandom or interpersonal context.

This is aimed at the more fannish side of things but I wish there was more variation. I see a lot of team mom and nesting omega jokes and I’m like why is it always the same person getting written as feminized/sub/bottom/omega. Why are we recreating cishet gender nonsense for mlm ships? Where’s the alpha/alpha? The switching? Why does everything have to be rigid? Where’s the fluidity in who does what? In interpretations? Where is the fluidity of human sexuality? I feel like people are sometimes holding so tightly to a headcanon that they forget to be playful with it. Or maybe the tightness is the playfulness and that’s how you see the guy. It doesn’t match up with how I see them but that’s fine. I just feel like there’s so much emphasis on getting it right that we aren’t exploring what else right could look like.

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?

Oh tons. I’ve partaken in “he would not fucking say that” a bunch. There’s lots of stuff for any number of fandoms that are tightly held and I’ll die on this hill. I’m also very flexible most of the time. I’m both very specific about my headcanons and also willing to change based on what’s going on. I contain multitudes and so does fandom.

Heck occasionally I have two ride or die headcanons that are contradictory because thats just how it is sometimes. I’m trying to think of an example but I’m not coming up with anything specific. The joy of fandom is defending my headcanons to the death and then getting up and finding another hill to die on. Fandom should be about joy and play. If it doesn’t spark joy I should figure out why and what I can do about it and move on. No use dwelling on a thing that isn’t making me happy unless it’s like an angst headcanon in which case I’m getting joy from the saddness.
