“So, you take the yarn like this,” Jake’s fingers move slowly as he over exaggerates the motion. You’d seen him crochet plenty of times, the patterns so practised his hands were practically a blur. 

“Like this?” You ask, trying to repeat his smooth movement. Your own fingers are clumsy, seemingly fighting against you as you try your best to will them to comply. 

He smiles as he watches, warmth lighting up his eyes. “That’s really good,” he lightly touches the back of your hand, guiding you for a second. “If you just keep a little more tension here, not too much, just enough to control the working yarn.” 

You nod, following his instructions. But while his own hands look precise and comfortable, controlled in a way you can only dream of, your own are a mess. The wool looks like a spider web someone just walked through. 

You sigh when the hook just won’t move like you want it to. “How are you so good at this?” 

“Practice.” He smiles kindly, placing a light kiss to your shoulder to ease your tension. “You’re doing really well.” 

“I’m doing shit.” 

He snorts and shakes his head, “I wish I could show you the first fifty times I tried to crochet. You would feel very superior.” 

“Fifty? You’re telling me I’m gonna have to do this at least fifty times before I even start to get my act together?” You groan, pulling a comical over the top expression to hide the fact that you want to throw the hook and wool across the room. Maybe burn it a little. 

“No, you’re too good for that.” He soothes, sensing your upset even though you’re trying to hide it. “Eight times, max.” 

You grumble a little.

“What was that?” He nudges you softly in the arm. 

“I said, we can’t all be perfect like you Lockley.” 

“Oh, Lockley is it?” He chuckles and kisses your shoulder again. “You really are upset, aren’t you?” 

You scowl and try your hardest not to sound like a toddler. “I am not.” But you fail miserably. 

He laughs again, the sound musical and sweet. “Here,” he shifts, urging you to move a little so that he can sit behind you, his legs outside of yours as his chest presses up against your back. 

Warmth seeps out of him, comforting and safe as he wraps his arms around you and takes hold of your hands in his. Lightly he leans his mouth against the part where your shoulder and neck meet as he focuses intently on the task: the hook and wool.

He guides your hands with his, moving your fingers into the pattern and then gently correcting when he needs to. 

“There cariño, look you’re doing it perfectly now.” Jake smiles against you. “The model student.” 

You huff playfully. “It’s only because I have a good teacher.” 

His smile widens and he gives you a quick hug before going on to explain the next part.

Quick Carbon wip just got inspired and wanted to write it.

“George.” Alex hisses, pressing his phone against his cheek until he’s sure he could mold into it.

He can still feel his heart racing from the run he had made up the stairs. He hasn’t really gone to the gym in a while, so it could be that, or maybe it’s just the way his brain had felt like melting out of his ears when he had laid eyes on the labelled boxes in the hall, first, and a muscular back near the doorman box, after.

“Alexander.” George hisses back, “why are we whispering?”

“Carlos Sainz, George.” Alex says, just before realising that, probably, saying a name without putting it in a properly complete sentence doesn’t make any logical sense. “I just- I just saw him- in the hall- fuck”

“Did you run up the stairs?” George asks, sounding way too amused. “I told you, you should take your working out more seriously at your age. Again, I can talk with Rita and find a spot for you in my morning Pilates classes, they would do you only good I am sure.”

“George, Carlos Sainz, in my- in my building.” Alex repeats, frantically looking for his keys in the utter mess of his jacket’s pockets.

He was pretty sure he was already holding them as he got in the hall, but then they seemed to disappear just as he was getting up the stairs, skipping the elevator because he surely wouldn’t stay there with Carlos Sainz just a few feet away.

Perhaps he just mechanically put them back in his pocket, he wouldn’t put it past himself after seeing Carlos freaking Sainz in the same place as himself. Talking to Alex’s doorman, of all people.

“Ah, I see, I see.” George says slowly, “But weren’t you watching him playing in San Diego just, like, a few days ago? Ah these rich people and their private jets, our poor sustainability!”

“It was last week, George.” Alex says, moving his phone to the other shoulder as he gets both his hands finally free. “Do you really not listen to me at all when I talk about golf?”

George is suspiciously silent for a second too long. “Eh, no.” He says, sincerely. “That being said. I don’t see the big deal with him being in the same building as you. You’re obsessed with the guy, just make sure to not act weird and all.”

“Weird?” Alex whispers, but it almost sounds like a screech to his own ears. “Yeah, no, I am perfectly normal about this what are you saying?”

“I can literally hear your brain exploding from here.”

“Shut up.”

“You called me.”

“And I am regretting it very much.” Alex says, stuffing his hand in the back pocket of his jeans just to come out, once again, empty handed. God, why does this have to happen now of all times? He is in desperate need of a coffee and, even better, a long cold shower to properly wrap around what he just saw. “Ah, my keys-“

There’s a tap on his shoulder and the only reason why Alex manages to not jump out of his skin is that he’s way too distracted with something like avoiding having to change all his locks because of his own idiocy.

As he turns around ready to tell somebody off, though, he desperately wishes his soul had actually made the jump.

“Looking for these?” Carlos Sainz says, dangling Alex’s keys in front of his face with a smirk. Distantly, Alex is pretty sure his phone just fell to the ground. “You dropped them in the hall, I can see it’s an habit.” Carlos Sainz jokes.

Because, as it stands, Carlos Sainz is in front of him making a joke about how Alex seems to have an habit of dropping his personal stuff around like an idiot.

Which is precisely the best and worst thing that could ever possibly happen to him.

In a remote part of his barely functioning brain, Alex knows that he should probably laugh to not look like a complete weirdo - which is exactly what George had advised him of, amazing.

But all that actually manages to come out of his mouth is just a strangled noise as his mind goes through two things, not necessarily in that order: fuck he is hotter than on TV and fuck he is shorter than I thought.

“Is everything-“

“Yes!” Alex rushes to say, taking the offered keys out of Carlos’ hands before remembering that he has been raised with manners. “Thank you, I am- a bit distracted yes.”

“That’s okay.” Carlos says, reassuring. His smile is almost blinding, way too gentle than it should be when offered to, well, a complete stranger.

Alex can’t exactly miss the way Carlos’ eyes seem to take in the sight of him, raking from the top of his head to the worn points of his Converse. He probably looks ridiculous compared to the well-put and squeaky clean shoes on Carlos’ feet, but in his defence, they don’t have a dressing code at work, and he is no professional golfer.

“Well, it’s nice to meet you, new neighbour.” Carlos says, and when his eyes meet Alex’s there’s a glint in them he can’t exactly decipher. “I am Carlos Sainz, but I seemed to notice you already know that.”

Oh.

Looking at the Next Episode

Episodes 21 and 22 are done by Director Ryuta Tasaki. I just wrote that “Gavv” has a director rotation between Sugihara, Shibasaki, and Morota… but sometimes guest directors come in to help out, like Director Kamihoriuchi did for episodes 11 and 12. It’s also been announced that Director Tasaki will direct the pilot of the new series “Number One Sentai Gozyuger”. (You should definitely watch the show’s trailer, too!) You’re probably wondering, “So, when did you film it?”, but this sort of thing was possible because “Gavv” is filmed ahead of time compared to previous years. It was after the end of “Gotchard” and before he began preparing for the new Sentai season. I secretly wished that he did the arc to broadcast after this one, which would make it “Super Tasaki Time” (one hour of non-stop Tasaki direction)… it’s unfortunate.

Speaking of Director Tasaki, he has directed several pilot episodes for the Kamen Rider and Sentai series. [TN: i actually noticed this while making his wiki page. he’s directed so many pilots and just ducked out for most of the show] Especially many in the Heisei Kamen Rider series: Agito, Ryuki, 555, Den-O, Kiva, Decade, Double, OOO, Gaim, Drive, Build, and Zi-O. The cast members who were raised on Heisei Rider are also growing in numbers, so I say, “Director Tasaki is coming; good luck!”.

What does a pilot director do? They attend the cast auditions, meet with them, and do rehearsals (?). Throughout the year, they are the one in charge of decisions on art direction, sets, props, clothes… basically anything. They take about twice as much time filming the pilot compared to any other set of two episodes. The pilot director for “Gavv” is Director Sugihara. They guide the young cast members, so they are someone we need to trust.

“Gavv” is already at episode 20, so while they say that Director Tasaki “really feels like a visitor”, he filmed fairly important moments in the story. He spoke highly of Hidekazu Chinen and Yusuke Hino’s performances. Yay! Next episode, some kind of strange bitter Gavv will appear. Please look forward to the first and last Tasaki episodes.

The Episode in Short

Thank you for watching episode 20! Last episode covered the fierce battle between Gavv and Vram, and this time, they finally break into the Dark Snack factory!

It’s been four episodes since Vram first transformed, but we’ve now reached the apex episode of Vram’s main arc. “Gavv’s” main director, Teruaki Sugihara, was in charge of episode 20, which reaches a main turning point in the story.

This undercover drama could have only been made by Director Sugihara, the leader of creating the Granute world! And he showed a pronounced human drama between Shoma and Lakia.

Episode 20’s audio commentary done by Lakia’s actor Kohei Shoji and Director Sugihara has been released on Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club. There are many behind-the-scenes stories they talk about that haven’t been written here, so those interested should definitely check it out!

What Is Lage9’s Name?

Because of the battle with Shoma last episode, the pudding wavers, or rather Lakia’s heart does. Then Vram’s creator, Nyelv, comes to Lakia’s hideout to give him a Gochizo.

The second Nyelv-made Gochizo is the “PuruJelly Gochizo”.

Its slightly smug-looking appearance similar to the Doppudding Gochizo is cute. Ayu Shoji recorded its cool female voice.

Shoma’s red bean soup Gochizo scouts out Lakia and leads Shoma to confront him again. Shoma brings Lakia outside to show what the captive Takeshi’s parents are feeling as they search for their son.

Lakia was troubled by what Shoma said last time, and now finally makes up his mind.

It’s an important scene where Lakia, once shown as an enemy, joins hands with Shoma for the first time, so the pilot director Sugihara was assigned to be in charge of this very significant moment in the story. Director Sugihara put passion into the direction, and he retook it over and over again before moving on.

Shoma had a family member die because of the Stomach Company just like Lakia did, and he has special feelings toward Lakia since he’s also a Granute. Because of Shoma, the feelings of wanting him to stop what he’s doing and turn back reached him in this scene. Shoji’s performance of Lakia conveying his true emotions back to Shoma was also impressive.

And he finally tells Shoma his real name. The name “Lakia Amarga” was revealed last week in the article, but this scene is the first where he actually calls himself by it, and it’s packed with emotion…!

Big Dark Snack Factory Break-in!

It was also mentioned in last week’s “Looking at the Next Episode”, but another reason that we asked the pilot director Teruaki Sugihara to direct episode 20 is that there’s a break-in to the Granute world. He’d always wanted to do that in “Gavv”. There was a feeling of tension that makes your palms sweaty!

Previously, the problem of how to open the door into the other world was an obstacle. Does it need a blood relative of the Stomach family? Shoma gets by the security and the door is opened.

In the same unexpected place as the door system, there’s a working toilet with an automatic sensor. The tension, relief, and the toilet seat’s smile were wonderfully explosive. As you’d expect from the director. By the way, the opening and closing isn’t automatic. It’s remote controlled by the assistant director. They have perfect timing!

It’s the second time since episode 1 that we’ve seen the dimension nicknamed ���door space”. It connects the two worlds of the humans and Granutes, and seems to randomly connect to anywhere in the human world with a countless amount of doors. There are still many mysteries…

For the filming, it was of course shot live on a green screen, but there are also real doors made by the artists. The assets (CG space) themselves have a complex structure, so it also seems difficult to film, but Director Sugihara originally proposed the idea for this realm, and he did well when he shot footage in episode 1, so this episode could also use it abundantly!

It wasn’t part of the same scene that was filmed, but this valuable off-camera photo with all of the Stomach family actors and Chinen was taken on the same filming day and set!

They have a cold-blooded relationship in the show, but what a kind world. If there were a parallel universe like this… (cries)

Mask-off action on the way there! Lakia’s big-brother energy in taking on the guards in hand-to-hand combat is very reassuring! Shoma’s memory flashing at this moment is also interesting…

And naturally this lady was waiting for them. The factory’s boss, Miss Glotta—Glotta Stomach—makes an appearance.

Jelly Vram and Serious Grotta

At the end of the fierce battle in the factory, the setting changes and they go to a live concert somewhere. Since the doors can be connected to anywhere, we had a lot of freedom when searching for a filming location. At the time we were filming, it was sometimes hot outside and we could do action indoors, so we decided on a concert hall which would draw attention.

They also helped in the last episode, and the concert venue guests here are played by TTFC (Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club) members. It was filmed a considerable amount of time before broadcasting, so they were all definitely surprised when they saw Vram’s appearance!

By the way, the hip-hop artist seen here is a fictional group called the “koiki boys” (Laughs). Even the song that played during this scene is a composition by TEEDA called “Home town”. If you’re interested, please go check it out!

The posters were made by the art department too. It’s elaborate!

And now Glotta’s monster form appears for the first time this episode! You can see the difference in Glotta, who’s already incredibly strong in her human form. Gavv and Vram can’t match her strength even when they’re working together, she’s suuuuuuuper powerful!

Her monster design is based on a sea monster from Scandinavian folklore, the Kraken. The character has roots in Scandinavia like Jeebh and Shita’s “Hati and Sköll”.

The molds were made with a lot of care and detail. In order to match the tall stature of Machi Chitose, who plays her human form, two kinds of shoes were made—one kind with tall soles for close-ups, and one kind that’s easy to move in for fight scenes.

Thanks to them, her appearance is beautiful and the whole body’s balance is very good! The action director Fujita looked at the finished model, and he said that it’s more complete than most female monster form models in past generations.

Vram uses a new ability in order to fight the strong enemy Glotta. He uses the “PuruJelly Gochizo” received from Nyelv at the start, and transforms into the Jelly Custom!

The English word for Lakia’s motif animal is “jellyfish”! Jelly is translucent like a jellyfish! Jelly was chosen for its deep relationship to Lage9!

The full pink body with a cherry flavor gives a fairly strong impression. The Gochizo design is like that too, but the pale pink in the upper layer of the two-layered jelly is like Bavarian cream. (The Rider form introduction accidentally became a snack report, haha)

As always, Action Director Butsuda’s transformation sequence was full of surprises. Unlike the pudding, the reversed trapezoid-shaped jelly lid is torn open, going completely opposite of my expectations…!

In accordance with to Director Sugihara and Action Director Fujita’s plans, Vram Jelly Custom’s special ability is the one to turn invisible when the belt is operated.

The power isn’t unconditional. There’s the cost of his heart being stopped in his invisible state. I thought, it’s not just to be strong; Fujita is truly skilled at managing logic and balance.

He thinks over Glotta’s fighting style and personality very thoroughly while reflecting on it, and some pro-wrestling components are actually sprinkled in. According to what I’ve heard, this was used because Machi Chitose likes wrestling (Laughs).

At the height of the battle, Hanto arrives and witnesses what’s happening.

He sees his partner working alongside someone who was previously an opponent, and he wears the expression of a married woman during relationship difficulties, like, “Who the hell is that woman?!”… setting aside that joke, Hanto hears Shoma’s true identity, which Shoma could never tell him about, coming from Glotta.

This event will make big waves in the story. Please look forward to how their relationship turns out in the future!

tamlin didnt have time to heal from everything that happened in past 50 years, UtM and seeing feyre die

but his court needed him and as the high lord of spring court, he put his people first unlike certain someone

he knew there would be repercussions for him killing amarantha and for feyre so he was on guard and paranoid

sure, he should have found someone to help feyre and train but i think he wanted to let her be for a while and not make her powers known -i think he says that in dawn meeting?- bc then other high lords could come for her since she has their powers

he had his own trauma, why is his trauma swept under the rug?

everyone talks about him not being there for feyre but where was feyre for him? they were in a relationship

it didn’t help tamlin was in unknown territory with a newly made fae feyre, who wanted to jump first into things and couldn’t take a no for an answer

it doesn’t help a big part of his trauma was and is connected to feyre. seeing her probably didn’t help, being reminded of her dying in front of him, but he was worried about her to be away so it was a cycle they were stuck in

this is why tamlin and fae feyre were never going to work. their relationship died when human feyre did

tamlin had to watch rhysand do what he did to feyre UtM for months, so when feyre was taken to night court, it made sense why tamlin reacted like that

rhysand is the villain in everyone’s eyes, his own actions have backed it up

mind u, rhysand and his father killed tamlin’s mother so why would tamlin be okay with his loved one in rhysand’s hands?

most of the things tamlin did post UtM that makes sense once you see it from his pov

but tamlin doesn’t get the sympathy like rhysand does. tamlin isn’t forgiven for what he did to feyre but rhysand is

“rhysand did what he did UtM to protect and help feyre” actually, he didn’t have to do any of that!

at least tamlin apologised to feyre without making it about poor oh him

at least tamlin brought rhysand back from dead and wished feyre happiness without anything in return

if it was the other way around, i promise you rhysand wouldn’t have done the same

rhysand actions towards tamlin in novella proved he is anything but good

but tamlin is the villain. tamlin doesn’t deserve a book

he does but i don’t think sjm can write tamlin’s story -she couldn’t write for nesta nor she knows how to hold feysand accountable- but he does deserves a book and happiness

tamlin gave lucien a home. tamlin fought for his people, all of them and they were loyal to him until feyre destroyed everything

the spring court deserves to be flourishing again and so does their high lord, tamlin

After they get all full of milk and content they get sleepy again, so Mountain puts them back into their crib. He watches them for a moment and Swiss soon joins him, gluing himself to the earth ghoul’s back and hooking his chin over his shoulder.

For two weeks since giving birth Swiss hadn’t had a chance to look at himself in the mirror. First, he wasn’t strong enough to be up most of the time, and when he did have mostly healed, the kits kept him busy.

Now when he’s finally seeing his body, he is…disappointed.

It’s not that Swiss thought his stomach would go back to normal right away, he just never thought about how it would look after giving birth. It simply didn’t cross his mind.

From what he has looked up online, and from what Omega has told him, the way he currently looks is completely normal, and would get better with time—even faster than it would for a human—but it will never look the same way it did before he got pregnant.

Swiss doesn’t really know if he’s okay with that, but he tries to convince himself he’s still as attractive as he was, and that his stomach is only a symbol of bringing life into this world. Three precious lives.

At least the multi ghoul knows that Mountain won’t see him as less for it; it helps. And Mountain himself doesn’t spare reassurance, either.

The earth ghoul wishes Swiss could literally read his mind. His mate trusts him without that to be speaking truthfully, but if he had an unfiltered look into Mountain’s brain, he could never doubt himself ever again. 

But that is not possible, so Mountain makes due by other means.

The moment silence falls in the room, when the kits get lulled to sleep, Swiss falls into his armchair with a deep sigh. He pulls his legs up to cover himself, but he does it absentmindedly—he doesn’t even realize.

It makes Mountain a little sad; Swiss has always been so open and beaming, and now he’s hiding like this.

The earth ghoul walks up to him and kneels on the carpet before the chair, making his mate raise an eyebrow in question. He can see in Mountain’s eyes, though, that it’s not sex he wants. He places his hands on Swiss’ knees and gently pulls his legs down onto either side of him. Then, Mountain leans forward, wraps his arms around the multi ghoul’s middle and nuzzles his face into his stomach as he starts to purr.

“What are ya doin’, sweetheart?” Swiss rumbles in question, smiling faintly.

“I loved you pregnant, but I’ve missed your tummy being so soft,” Mountain replies with his face shoved all the way into said tummy, making his words barely audible. The multi ghoul giggles at that, but it’s weak and quiet—lacking his usual liveness.

Mountain doesn’t say anything more, nor does he move. He stays there, purring louder than ever as he’s genuinely enjoying the predicament he’s put himself into. At some point Swiss brings his hand to his head, to drag through his hair and scratch at his scalp.

He only pulls back—regretfully—when the kits start to wake again. The earth ghoul gets up to get them, leaving Swiss on the chair to get out of his sweater; the kits need a snack after a nap.

“Hello there, my little loves,” Mountain coos as he reaches into the crib for Aelin, who’s the first one awake. He smiles brightly as he pulls her out and brings her to his chest, holding the tiny sleepy ghoulette close. Swiss feels like he’s about to melt into a puddle as he’s watching the scene.

After a moment, though, Aelin wakes up more and starts getting wiggly and whiny, so Mountain hands her over to Swiss so he can feed her, while the other gets to the other two.

“Hi, baby,” the multi ghoul greets her, but she seems to only be interested in her mama’s boob, not him. He can live with that, he supposes.

In no time at all the other two are fully awake and latching onto Swiss as soon as Aelin’s done—she doesn’t love having either of her siblings feeding on the other side as she’s doing so, the spoiled princess that she already is.

The kits are all touching each other in at least one spot and each is wrapped around a plushie—the ones they’ve gotten from Dewdrop. They fell in love with them right away, especially Amon, whose favorite thing to do is suck on his teddy bear’s ear.

Swiss grunts dramatically every time he has to touch the slobbery plushie, but he still finds his kits the most adorable ever. Adorable, but nasty at the same time; he’s so grateful to Mountain for dealing with most of their…mess.

Swiss did not know how poopy kits are.

But that doesn’t change the fact that he loves them so much, it’s practically insane; he feels like a man possessed.

The multi ghoul can’t stop himself from grinning as he watches both of Arya’s tiny hands holding onto her siblings’ tails—each in one hand. She has taken a particular liking to the fluffy tip of Amon’s, because the fins on Aelin’s are a little too spikey to play with.

That doesn’t stop the small ghoulette from trying, though; barely two weeks old and she’s already following Swiss’ steps of being the designated menace.

He can’t wait to run around setting fires with the little ghoulette on his shoulders, cheering.

Thomas

- This man has some extreme survivors guilt from everything.

- He gets flashbacks, especially in dreams, of him working with WICKED, helping them build the maze and having to watch his friends through the beetle blades.

- He feels responsible for everything his friends went through in the glade and for not trying harder to help them (even though the others have continuously told him that they don’t blame him and it wasn’t his fault).

- Even through the scorch, he feels guilty for not doing more to help because if he had only acted faster, they might not be there at all.

- He sometimes has panic attacks because of this and on the worst days he wishes he could have died instead of his friends because he feels like their deaths were his fault.

- Occasionally he turns to self harm, believing that he deserved to feel the pain he put his friends to.

- Newt found him once with the knife in his hand and immediately stopped him, cleaning the cuts and making Thomas promise never to do it again because nothing was his fault and he doesn’t deserve to feel pain.

- Newt then makes it a regular occurrence to draw little butterflies on Thomas’s wrist and arms (iykyk)

- Newt got really worried the first time Thomas had a panic attack in front of him because he didn’t really know what to do to help but he slowly figured out little ways to calm him down.

- Taking him to a quiet, familiar place, helping him breathe, making him tea and cuddling up with a blanket and a movie on in the background

Newt

- I think I already covered this in another post but being sick is a huge trigger for Newt. He gets super edgy and Thomas can tell. He continuously checks his arms just in case the veins are black

- I’m convinced he’s got Emetophobia (fear of throwing up) because it triggers memories of when he had the flare and he felt nauseous all the time.

- His immune system is weaker than everyone else’s so he gets sick a lot more often than the others and even a simple cold would have him shivering in bed all day with tea and five blankets

- Newt also doesn’t like to acknowledge the fact that he’s sick because he doesn’t want people fussing over him and asking him if he’s okay so he will just say ‘I’m fine’ as he’s actively throwing up.

- He usually distances himself whenever he’s ill because he’s scared that he’s not cured and is going to snap and hurt someone but Thomas isn’t having it.

- Thomas will wrap him up in a blanket and hug him until Newt stops struggling to get away and melts into a little shivery puddle in Thomas’s arms

- Once he’s finally accepted that he is ill, Newt becomes very very clingy towards Thomas and stays in bed all day with tea and a hot water bottle

- I also think Newt and Brenda would be really good friends in the safe haven because they’ve both had the flare before (obviously Brenda was cured relatively quickly but still) so they can relate to each other and Newt sometimes feels like Brenda’s the only one who really knows what he went through, so he talks to her about it when he doesn’t want to go vent to Thomas or Minho

- He has a lot of nightmares from when he was a crank, often dreaming that he had died or else had cracked and hurt someone and more than once has woken up screaming with tears in his eyes and blood in his mouth because he bit his tongue so hard.

- His broken leg gets better over time but it never fully heals. Jorge told him that he should really be using a cane or a crutch but Newt done right refuses either because he hates people making a fuss over it and he will still work even if the pain is so bad he literally has to hop around (Thomas isn’t having this either and drags Newt to bed and massages his leg for him)

- Newt still had suicidal thoughts. They aren’t as strong as they were in the glade and he doesn’t seriously consider trying anything but it’s always in the back of him mind. Thomas is the one who gets him his little safety pin necklace because he knows it’s something Newt struggles with ( and yes Newt did cry when Thomas gave it to him. Tell me I’m wrong)

You weren’t sure how you managed to get into the position that you were in. Trekking behind some girl you found just days before hanging upside down and bloodied. Some girl that you helped free and somehow allowed you to patch her up. You had no real motive in doing this except for not wanting to see the Rattlers take in another wanderer as a slave. Despite you saving her, this girl had a death wish, and she headed towards the Rattlers’ base anyways. After a day, she came back to the house where you two had camped out in, missing two fingers, and a defeated look in her eyes. Another day passed before you found yourself here, with the California sun beating down on both of you, traveling back to where she came from, and making you wonder if following her was a mistake.

You followed a few yards behind the taller woman through the streets, following the path where she had taken to get here. Little words have been exchanged between you and the dark auburn since you’ve met. You were used to being alone so talking didn’t come naturally. It also didn’t help that you couldn’t trust easily and already had some escape routes in mind in case this sudden partnership soured. She seemed to move on pure will alone, and you knew she could easily over power you if she wanted to. 

“Are you alone?” she asked a few days prior. She was laying on a dining room table where you two had set up camp in a house nearby from where you found her, and you were suturing her stomach. She half whispered the question in a low tone as she held her breath through the pain. Her question broke a fourth wall of sorts. You were just a passerby in her story, an observer, a blip in her existence, not someone worth getting to know. You only joined this story as a stranger, who from time to time had moments of kindness- weakness- that usually did not end well for you. You were cautious about answering but considering that she seemed to have been left for dead, hanging in the Rattlers’ trap, she must have been alone as well, so you answered honestly, “Yes.. It’s just me.” Her lip was thin as she grimaced from the pain, her light eyes looking up at you briefly at yours before she cursed and threw her head back, shutting them tightly. “Fuck.” 

You didn’t expect her to come back to the camp after she said she was going to the Rattlers’ base, but when she did come back, missing her two fingers and covered in blood again, it was clear this girl really had nowhere else to go. She went upstairs without saying a word and spent that night in one of the bedrooms, with a leather belt between her teeth, cauterizing her own fingers. You could hear the muffled and strained screams followed by quiet sobs.

The next day, her two fingers were bandaged up. She was checking on her supplies when you walked over and handed her oranges that you had foraged that morning. You sat and started to check on your supplies too, not wanting to stay at that camp any longer than need be; it was too close to Rattler territory. She had stopped rummaging through her backpack and you felt a pair of eyes watch you. “Do you have a name?”   

Her question made you wonder what her angle was despite her calm tone. “Juno,” your voice was soft, like a chime in her ears. You blinked over and looked at her, “and you?” She paused and kept you in her gaze longer than you would have expected. You felt heat tinge your face in embarrassment for those few extra seconds. “Ellie,” she responds dryly, managing to peel her eyes away. She seemed to have been lost in thought before continuing. “I’m going back home, it’s a long journey, but if you want to leave this place, you should come.”

A life altering moment delivered in a nonchalant question. ‘Home?’ A foreign concept. “We leave in an hour,” she zips her backpack and goes into the garage to use the workbench.

‘We?’ Seemed like Ellie already decided that you were coming along. You have proven yourself useful, you thought, and Ellie was strong. Anyone who survives going into the Rattlers’ base and making it out without getting caught or killed had to be one hell of a fighter- ‘or fucking crazy.’

With the arrival of Ultra Magnus something changed pushing Wheeljack to decide on leaving the Wreckers.

"Come with me" said Wheeljack curbing his exasperation after asking her yet again about leaving together while holding her servo.

His conjux endura, someone she meet during the Golden age of Cybertron when they fought side by side to later inevitably fall love during their countless missions together.

"What guarantee can you give me that we are going to safe?" she answered uncertain of his plan. "With a war approaching we cannot separate from our team" she disapproves of his plan.

"I assure that we will be fine, we can go to my old lab in Ankmor".

"We can't just leave, please Wheeljack."

"I love you" he said. She could fell the grip of his servo loosening until he lets hers go and turning around.

That was the last night she saw him until she eventually joined team prime after the fall of Cybertron.

She was coming back from picking up the kids since the rest of the team was on a mission. Once in the base Miko started interrogating her about her weapons.

"My sword was a gift from my conjux endura many stellar cycles ago" she answered with a smile.

They were surprised to hear that she was married, Bumblebee explained to the kids cybertronian relationship after they watched a soap opera, and now they have many questions.

"We need to know the full story" Mike said and the two boys nodded in agreement why getting comfortable for the story time.

"His name is Wheeljack, we meet when we joined the Wreckers before the war" she smiled while recalling their memories. "We used to spar all the time and go on mission together, our relationship dynamic evolved so naturally that we didn’t even establish anything until one afternoon when Bulkhead asked us when was our anniversary".

"In my defense you two always acted as a couple that the whole team just thought you were officially together" Bulkhead explained.

"And where is he right now?" Miko asked. "Is he-was he offlined?". "Miko, shut up" Jack intervene, he has the same question but did not want to bring up a possible sensitive topic.

"No, as far as I can feel from our bond, he is still alive and kicking somewhere out there" she said sadly. "When Optimus appointed a new leader for the Wreckers Wheeljack didn't agree the new changes being made so he planned to leave, he insisted on us leaving together but with the hostility of the decepticons rising I was not sure if it was the best idea so one night he just left, and I haven’t seen him since".

Since Miko does not know when to close her mouth she asked something again even when Jack and Raft signaling her to stop.

"And you still love him? Even when he just left like that?" Even Bulkhead was looking at her expectantly for her answered, he just wanted to know how his friend was dealing with all this.

"Miko" she sighs. "If someone asked me if I still loved him, I would say that I adore him, I will tell them how happy I was with him and not even distance will change that" she sadly turned around to leave. "I wish I left with him that day".

Turns out Wheeljack was not that far from way from her, a week later he arrived at the base, but something fell off, as if Wheeljack was not her Wheeljack.

Bulkhead was the first one to voice his concerns that his friend was acting different.

"Tell it” insisted Bulkhead asking him to tell the story about the battle of Darkmount Pass. Suddenly Wheeljack grabbed Miko revealing his identity as Makeshift and activating the ground bridge from where the real Wheeljack emerged ready to fight.

"That's my Jackie" said Bulkhead after he defeated Makeshift.

After all the commotion they brought the Jackhammer back to the base for Ratched to fix it, so she used this opportunity to approach Wheeljack.

"I missed you so much" she said while hugging him. He pressed his helm against hers basking in the feeling of being together again.

Miko definitely took pictures without the couple noticing, she just wanted to capture the moment.

"Yes". This time she did not hesitate to choose him.

"So, Jackie, you have to pick your new vehicle mode now that you are with team prime" interrupted Bulkhead.

"About that Bulkhead..." he was not staying with them. She understood he is always on the look for new adventures and decepticons to fight, but maybe this time she can go with.

Later that same day Wheeljack asked her again "will you come with me this time?" he said while holding her servo.

kali: flame of samsara/song of the crimson nile: despite my well-known hatred for remy, she always has some of the most interesting story concepts (even though they're poorly executed especially past S1). i love her MCs, LIs, and and the historical settings infused with fantastical/mystery elements (even if they aren't handled well.) in my heart, i knew these books could be better with a stronger writer, but i have a soft spot for these characters and always play remy's books first after every update before moving onto other books. i would rewrite a lot of their S2s (and SOTCN's S3) to make them cleaner and more efficient because there technically is a lot to work with

astrea's broken heart: i don't think there's anything unique i can say here but i LOVE LOVE LOVE this book!! i have a soft spot for this book since it was the first RC book i saw update from the very beginning rather than jumping into an already ongoing/completed book. i love the concept, the MC, the art style, the LIs, the MYSTERY!! it's a book that is really easy to rec to new RC users (even tho the Wattpad nature of writing for S1 did make me cringe a bit i'm sorry 😭). i wish this book wasn't tied down by the HS-verse of it all but at least they set it up? and i want to see where they go with this

heaven's secret requiem: specifically S1, but i'm still giving S2 room to improve itself ig. i adore lane she's literally one of my favorite and most relatable MCs. the unsettling atmosphere, the morally grey characters, the overall concept, the WRITING STYLE?! top tier. if someone else were to write for greg and anna (along with letting boris stay dead but still haunting lane) this book could be PERFECT. also i will mention lane again because i love the way she's written as a sort of unreliable narrator who doesn't even know what's going on with herself. *chef's kiss*

soulless: wow, just, wow. i need to give a standing ovation for Wincy for how much she DEVOURED with this book. i don't even know where to begin but the way haters turned into fans when they realized this book would be deeper than "haha smut" was INCREDIBLE to watch unfold! I love vyx sm like lane she's such an amazing MC with some of the best character development on the app I can't wait to learn more about her

shakespeare's code: when it was revealed amy was the one writing for this book, i will admit i was skeptical. but thankfully i was proven WRONG. amabelle is literally one of my favorite MCs we finally get to play as someone who is evil and doesn't have to become a better person (alongside lane)!! i love how many stats you can play through and the LIs are all unique and interesting, we love to see it. i love the current ongoing theory that amabelle is a "lost shakespeare character" in one of his plays that never came to light which is why she's being surrounded by shakespeare characters in other plays in one world that shakespeare is holding together to avoid coping with a grave loss (ok wandavision). but tldr i can't wait to see what amy does with this book <33

and the haze will take us/the thunderstorms saga: these books are somewhere between being honorable mentions and faves. bear in mind that i haven't read their recent updates yet, but both books are really well done and have wonderful MCs/worldbuilding!! i always enjoy playing them but i don't have an aggressive attachment to them like i do with other books even if those other books are objectively worse if that makes sense?? it's like after i close the book i don't spend a lot of outside time thinking about them unless i'm in the mood to do so. i love the way haze is centered on slavic culture and i feel like it's difficult to mess up fantasy/elves it's so classic!

honorable mention: the missing (it's too early to officially declare it a fave but i LOVE it so far) & w: timecatcher (really well thought out book and you could feel the love arina has for all of her characters)!!

a) Soulless - where do I start ? Amazing. Showstoping. Spectacular. Totally unique, completely not ever been done before. I LOVE every single love interest, I love Vyxaria as an MC no matter the path, I looove how neatly the plot all ties together - it's just all amazing. Best ongoing story I think.

b) Shakespeare's Code - despite the fact it's been 6 episodes, this story is bumped to the TOP of my favorites. It's just amazing, Amabelle is extremely entertaining as an MC, the love interests all have different plotlines, and I love how many stats & combinations you can have !

c) 7 Brothers - of course, it wouldn't be fair to talk about my favorites without talking about this story I've been defending tooth & nail since forever. A misunderstood work of art, I really like the MC, Jaynie's so relatable & an all-around character, I absolutely cherish her. Of course, there's the love interests & Langley's amazing writing strikes again. It's always the first story I play every update <3

d) Love, Sin & Evil - another underrated work of art, my favorite thing about this story is the mechanics of saving the characters ! Super innovative, I love it. I also think Mina's a super entertaining MC and the fashion is just top notch, though on the more expensive side 👌 Eagerly waiting for the next update & the upcoming finale.

e) Heaven's Secret: Requiem - unfortunately, despite all its problems, specifically romance-wise, I still really like this story, at least for the plot of it. I'm still invested in what the fuck is the deal with Lane, and how it's all going to end.

f) And The Haze Will Take Us - Suuuuper invested to see where Alice is taking this story. I was kind of torn on season 1 but I'm actually really focused on season 2 to see where this story and this haze will be taking us ! Looking forward to the next update.
